if the ukraine bunch fronted by zelensky wins
blackrock will profit in the billions
but don't forget that a lot of this war is a landrush for the formerly gov owned farmland in ukraine
this has been going on since around 2010
pushed by loans from the world bank and rich oligarchs from russia and ukraine
since ukraine is the bread basket of europe
cargil bayer monsanto and others are in there trying to get their share also
much of the war since the coup in 2014 and before is about land and food and who controls it
food is like oil
if you happen to be born on top of it
governments and business will kill you to get it
and any excuse will work

The only way to save the American farmer is to break up the Ag conglomerates and auction the land they stole back to the small farmers. They don't need subsidies or price supports. Break up Monsanto, cargil, ConAgra et al and prices will stabilize without the constant manipulation of the commodities markets by Chicago and Wall Street.

You make a lot of sense with that post, but I can't see any of that happening as long as the largest landowners in the state are cargil and ConAgra. Iowa will continue to send the most fertile soil in the world to Louisiana via the Mississippi River.

oldfag anon here a theory IMO on my mind for a days no sauce include as i am not going to do the work tonight did it all individually over the past you guise will understand and it will resonate or not:
i think the will smith things was comms to the sick evil club
as he is a higher up and probably has doled out some shit in private
if you think about it
ashton kucther and mila kunis (from ukraine) did the video where she says samsung at exactly the 0.33 spot on the video and also say cargill in same vid
will does an open punishment and threat on live tv for all to see then leaves the academy
chris says the thing about gi jane
jada does a "one eye" roll if you really slow down the film
will says keep my wifes name out your fucking mouth
bruse willis used to be husband to gi jane demi moore
he now has aspasia (brain shit like mcccain "i cant remember what i did, i have brain cancer" story)
bruce and demi have a daughter named scout who once waqlked down the streeti nyc with no shirt or bra MK shit
demi is tight with aston with the THORN pedo shit and is cindy mccain, john wife
cindy said they all knew, an open sectret about jeffrey pstein, but they had no way to do anything, mccain powerful seantor and she is running anti sex traffic thing sheesh
keep my wifes name out your mouth said by will
cargil and samsung mentioned by mila
heli accident rich "meat" guy killed
it is all related
they are all doing comms in open like the oscars
as they know their other shit is monitored
it is a message so none of them talk
and they ALL can decipher it
any how
sam sung acording to mila
they are in panic due to ukraine exposure
demi moore once gi jane comms got everyone in their club paying attention that shit is hot
warning were sent
keep my fucking wife out of your mouth
get punished in real time live
they have seen abuse in rituals
so they see the comms
gi jane demi her once boyfriend (husband bruce) sung
now he is saying he has aphasia
just like mccain
demi is tied to mccain, ashton thorn, mayo clinic, cindy, ukraine
sam sung
if you do a google search demi moore character sam
you get sam, movie ghost
sam was her boyfriend
i think the gi jane line
and
keep name out of fucking mouth
and
sam sung
and
cargill
and
ukraine
all comms
bruce willis talked?
sam sung?

Another time I was raped while they murdered 16 children. I have been raped alongside children a total of 32 times in 14 MILABS.
Let's close down this horrible operation thank you'''

1..... ..... GUISE, I have been digging all week and I can't find the end. Q was right when he said we have moar than we know. It is obvious on all my digginz what LDR meant by watching our children die of thirst and Q's message of Watch the Water but I have also found links from POTUS Energy plan to our Natural Resources. All week I have been digging and dumping on Water, Both Drinking [Tap & Bottled] and treated. Now I have jumped into Moar energy, beyond the Nuclear...Due to POTUS' Energy Plan with China I am able to tie GE Water to Suez, Suez to Veolia, Veolia [Suez and Veolia are both YUGE French Conglomerate BTW], Water to cargil. cargil to Monsanto and Monsanto to Dupont with all three commodities, Soy Beans, Ethanol and Liquid Natural Gas. It seems these companies aren't happy being bajillionaires, they want to control everything, EVERYTHING as in All our food, water and of course Energy. The only thing left from where I stand is the Air. We don't pay for clean air yet...Total Recall! Seriously Guise this has been habbening over decades and it's getting scary! It doesn't end either, it keeps going as long as I dig. If POTUS' Plan doesn't work, we are ALL SCREWED.There is MOAR but I'll Post later...
Veolia partners food manufacturer on wastewater treatment plant
Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies (Thailand) has partnered with Associated British Foods (Thailand) (ABF), where Veolia has provided the food manufacturer with a full turnkey wastewater treatment plant. The project integrates several of Veolia's own technologies - including its Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF), Biothane Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB), AnoxKaldnes Biological Activated Sludge (BAS), and Hydrotech Drumfilter - within Associated British Food's Ovaltine manufacturing plant in Bangkok. With this end-to-end wastewater package, ABF will be able to handle its wastewater treatment needs on premise, catering to both existing and future flow requirements projected for the next decade.
Michael Poonpipat, business development director, projects, Thailand for Veolia Water Technologies, said: "Working with ABF shows how we can effectively provide a full range of wastewater solutions from start to end. Our experience in the food and beverage industry has equipped us with the know-how to mitigate the client's concerns, and we are confident of meeting their project expectations."We had to be creative in designing a compact yet robust wastewater treatment plant that could handle a high flow rate within a limited space. One of the most attractive features of Veolia's water and wastewater solutions is its compact design, which takes into account space constraints that clients face without compromising on performance."Michel Otten, technical director, Asia industrial for Veolia Water Technologies, added: "This project with ABF carries great significance for Veolia as it showcases our ability across disciplines, from conducting preliminary market studies, to recommending targeted engineered solutions, and finally to constructing the wastewater treatment plant. It reaffirms Veolia's leading position as a professional water and wastewater solutions supplier, and also as a trusted design-and-build partner for manufacturers across different markets. Veolia looks forward to working closely with ABF to ensure flawless project execution for a successful handover in June 2016." https://www.foodbev.com/news/veolia-partners-food-manufacturer-on-wastewater-treatment-plant/

A total demolition of the previous forms of existence is underway: how one comes into the world, biological sex, education, relationships, the family, even the diet that is about to become synthetic."
Silvia Guerini, radical ecologist, in 'From the 'Neutral' Body to the Posthuman Cyborg: A Critique of Gender Ideology' (2023)
We are currently seeing an acceleration of the corporate consolidation of the entire global agri-food chain.
The big data conglomerates, including Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook and Google, have joined traditional agribusiness giants, such as Corteva, Bayer, cargill and Syngenta, in a quest to impose their model of food and agriculture on the world.
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and big financial institutions, like BlackRock and Vanguard, are also involved, whether through buying up huge tracts of farmland, pushing biosynthetic (fake) food and genetic engineering technologies or more generally facilitating and financing the aims of the mega agri-food corporations.[2] Continue…

Their Strategy in the War on Food
https://brownstone.org/articles/their-strategy-in-the-war-on-food/?ref=truth11.com
n my previous two articles, we covered the global war on farmers and the culprits behind this agenda. Today, we will dive into the tactics these organizations use to foist their dystopian vision on the rest of us.
Perhaps you remember Event 201, the pandemic simulation run in late 2019 that served as a dress rehearsal for the 2020 Covid response. Such simulations have been used in the War on Food as well. Take, for example, the Food Chain Reaction Game, a 2015 wargame that simulated the time period from 2020 to 2030. cargill and the other participants have removed the Food Chain Reaction Game data from their websites, but cargill's version was archived by independent researchers, so you can still see it here. https://archive.fo/RYn4U
In the simulation, the decade brought "two major food crises, with prices approaching 400 percent of the long term average; a raft of climate-related extreme weather events; governments toppling in Pakistan and Ukraine; and famine and refugee crises in Bangladesh, Myanmar, Chad and Sudan." When the game ended, its organizers had imposed meat taxes in Europe, capped CO2 emissions, and instituted a global carbon tax. The time period of the Food Chain Reaction Game handily coincides with the 2020 Covid crisis and ends with the culmination of Agenda 2030. If you don't think those dates are significant, you aren't paying attention. Continue…

cargill Taps Startup Producing Smart Cow Masks To Trap Methane Burps
https://www.zerohedge.com/technology/cargill-taps-startup-producing-smart-cow-masks-trap-methane-burps
Cows produce significant amounts of methane as part of their digestive processes. Cow belching, a source of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, could be solved by a new methane-absorbing wearable device.
According to Bloomberg, agriculture behemoth cargill Inc. tapped UK-based startup Zelp Ltd., which is dedicated to significantly reducing the environmental impact of the livestock industry through smart cow masks that filter methane burps.
cargill said Tuesday the devices would be used for its European dairy farmers in 2022. The price of each mask has yet to be publicly discussed, but Zelp said each cow would cost $80 per year as part of an annual subscription fee.
Detailed on Zelp's website under the technology tab, the smart cow mask neutralizes methane, records valuable statical data, and is integrated with mobile communication gear. Besides neutralizing methane, the mask also gathers many data points about the cow, including geo-location, early disease functions, heat detection, emission quantity, and oxidized volume of methane.
cargill's vast customer network could make smart masks for the livestock industry standard in the years ahead as the elites of the world attempt to transition the global economy to a much greener future (or at least that is what it appears).
"cargill has an impressive reach across dairy farms in Europe," said Zelp Chief Executive Officer Francisco Norris. "They are uniquely positioned to distribute our technology to a large number of clients, both farmers and dairy companies, maximizing the roll-out from the very first year we hit the market."
Bloomberg describes the smart mask almost like a "catalytic converter" on a car, filtering out the burps.
A set of fans powered by solar-charged batteries sucks up the burps and traps them in a chamber with a methane-absorbing filter. Once the filter is saturated, a chemical reaction turns the methane into CO?, which is then released. - Bloomberg
Some 95% of methane released by cows comes out as burps and through the nose.
Enteric fermentation is the digestive process that results in cow belching.
Global emissions from livestock account for about 14.5% of total greenhouse gas emissions. cargill has joined the global push to cut carbon emissions across its supply chain by 30% by 2030. As we've previously discussed, many of these targets are "pie in the sky" figures.
Though there's a big push by corporations and governments to cut carbon emissions in the years ahead, elites and politicians have no visible interest in curbing emissions of their fuel-guzzling private jets, superyachts, and supercars.
If we're not careful, one day, we'll all be wearing masks that monitor our methane output and will be taxed on that.

Bill Gates: Let Them Eat Fake Meat!
Bill Gates thinks everyone should eat "100% synthetic beef" as a way to fight climate change - but a look at his investment portfolio suggests he has an alternative agenda that is anything but eco-friendly.
FULL ARTICLE HERE:
https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/bill-gates-fake-meat/
EDITOR'S NOTE: Below is an excerpt from "Bill Gates & His Fake Solutions to Climate Change," a 23-page report coordinated by Navdanya International which sheds light on the dangers of philanthrocapitalism.
One of [Bill] Gates' most recent promotions is his prescriptions of synthetic foods for developed countries as a means to combat climate change. In a recent interview with MIT Technology Review, Gates says he thinks "all rich countries should move to 100% synthetic beef."
Fake food replaces animal products with highly processed food grown in labs, like fake meat, fake dairy products or fake eggs. It is made possible by technical innovations such as synthetic biology, which involves reconfiguring the DNA of an organism to create something entirely new.
For instance, plant-based meat companies like Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods use a DNA coding sequence from soybeans or peas to create a product that looks and tastes like real meat. Some companies are also investing in cell-based meat, grown from real animal cells, but it has yet to reach the market.
More and more firms are getting involved in this fast-growing market, like Motif Foodworks (plant-based meat and dairy alternatives), Ginkgo Bioworks (custom-built microbes), BioMilq (lab-grown breast milk), Nature's Fynd (fungi-grown meat and dairy alternatives), Eat Just (egg substitutes made from plant proteins), Perfect Day Food (lab-grown dairy products) or NotCo (plant-based animal products made through AI), to name but a few.
The industrial meat-industry giants are also profiting from this blossoming market. Meat producers like Tyson Foods (which has invested in Memphis Meats and Future Meat Technologies which both create lab-grown meat replacements), Nestle, cargill, Maple Leaf Foods, or Perdue Farms are thriving on this trend, selling products like sausages, burgers and ground beef largely made from pea or soy protein.
All these companies are backed up by high-ranked billionaires and Big Tech investors. Bill Gates alone has invested $50 million in Impossible Foods and actively finances Beyond Meat, Ginkgo Bioworks and BioMilq, as described above…

EXCLUSIVE: Calgary's COVID hotel and the quarantine law that lets Theresa Tam take your private property
https://www.rebelnews.com/calgary_covid_hotel_law_theresa_tam_take_your_private_property
Rebel News reporter, Keean Bexte, has been flying across Canada to locate federal government coronavirus quarantine facilities.
We know they exist. The federal government published a Request For Information (RFI) on the government procurement website asking for details and interest from the private sector about setting up the facilities.
Bexte found one such camp in Manitoba. The Manitoba Métis Nation that owns the site say they haven't yet contracted with the federal government, but they are ready to use the site when called upon.
But where else are these things? A new access to information filing with the City of Calgary confirms that Cowtown has at least one, and the City of Calgary's emergency management team requested a second one to help deal with an outbreak at a meat packing plant south of the city:
…not sure if they have reached out or not yet, but expect Alberta Health Services to advise you that they will be looking to move some people into the PHAC isolation facilities (isofac) in the hotel out by the airport, and maybe establishing one in the a South of the city to help with the cargill outbreak. These would be asymptotic people who can't self isolate because they live in close quarters.
Another email between bureaucrats reveals the logistics of the isolation facility and the general location:
PHAC Western Region has retained two co-located hotels nearby to serve as designated self isolation site until April 30th, 2020. The location of this site is not publicly known and should not be disclosed given privacy and safety concerns. PHAC has also retained the services of Canadian Red Cross to deliver some operations at the site, as they have done at other self-isolation sites in Canada. PHAC completed the operational set up of the Calgary self-isolation site on Friday, April 4th.
The documents also reveal that the City of Calgary was left wanting for details after the federal government announced that Calgary would be one of the Canadian airports still taking international flights.
I am in a management team meeting and a question that came up was, with Calgary one of 4 airports allowed to accept international travelers and those travelers must go immediately into quarantine from the airport, does AHS have an idea of how many travelers might be expected? Part 2, would AHS be looking into accommodation strategies for these folks?
Further in the emails, the bureaucrats note that Theresa Tam is able to expropriate private property for use as a quarantine site.
Canada's Chief Public Health Officer has the authority to designate any place in Canada as a quarantine facility if deemed necessary to protect public health in accordance with sections 7 and 8 of the Quarantine Act.
Rebel News is going to continue to file for information into which cities, provinces, and municipalities are hosting these COVID-19 isolation facilities, and bring you any details we can into their use. But these sorts of projects are expensive and time-consuming. To help fund our effort to bring you what the mainstream media won't, please go to www.rebelinvestigates.com.

Child slavery is defended in court by a high level Democrat.
Kevin Daley - DECEMBER 1, 2020 5:15 PM
Neal Katyal, the progressive lawyer who led the legal fight against the president's travel ban and urged the public to take an unforgiving stance toward those involved with child separation at the U.S. border, appeared in the Supreme Court on Tuesday to defend two corporations accused of abetting child slavery.
In legal papers filed to the Supreme Court, the plaintiffs say Nestlé USA and cargill knew their West African suppliers used child slaves but bought cocoa from them anyway. Katyal, arguing on behalf of the food giants, said the case should be tossed because U.S. courts have no authority to hear the dispute.
The six unnamed plaintiffs were once child slaves on cocoa plantations in Ivory Coast, having been kidnapped and trafficked from Mali. The plaintiffs say they were held under armed guard in deplorable conditions, beaten, and tortured if they tried to escape.
"From the United States, [Nestlé] had complete control over the farms' labor practices, knew that the farmers they were assisting were using and continued to use forced child labor, and purposefully relied on the enslavement of children to increase profits by ensuring the flow of cheap cocoa," the plaintiffs' filings read.
They also claim that Nestlé cultivated close ties with plantation owners to maintain influence in the region. To do so, they allegedly financed the purchase of farming supplies, made advance payments, and provided plantation owners with personal spending money to secure their loyalty as exclusive suppliers.
The case asks whether the plaintiffs can sue Nestlé and cargill in an American court under an obscure federal law from 1789 called the Alien Tort Statute. Katyal said U.S. corporations can't be sued under that law. Many on the Court wondered if that went too far.
"Many of your arguments lead to results that are pretty hard to take," Justice Samuel Alito told Katyal. "Suppose a U.S. corporation makes a big show of supporting every cause de jure but then surreptitiously hires agents in Africa to kidnap children and keep them in bondage on a plantation.... You would say that the victims ... should be thrown out of court in the United States, where this corporation is headquartered and does business?"
A second issue is whether the child slavery allegations have a strong enough connection to the United States to move forward in court. Again, Katyal argued no.
"The claim plaintiffs bring alleges something horrific, that locators in Mali sold them as children to an Ivorian farm where overseers forced them to work," Katyal told the justices. "[But] the defendants are not the locators, not the overseers, and not the farm."
The Alien Tort Statute mostly sat dormant until the 1980s, when it became a vehicle for getting human-rights cases into American courts from across the globe. The Supreme Court has gradually closed the door on those cases. In 2013 the Court said the law usually doesn't cover wrongdoing outside the United States, and in 2018 it said the Alien Tort Statute doesn't cover foreign companies.
Among other high-profile impact cases, Katyal led challenges to the Bush administration's military tribunals for Guantanamo Bay detainees and obtained an appointment to the prosecution team in the George Floyd case. Beyond the staid world of appellate advocacy, he contributes regularly to MSNBC, appeared on stage at a Vanity Fair summit with John Legend, and played himself on House of Cards.

In Tuesday's brief, Katyal claimed his clients deplore child labor.
"Nestlé USA has tremendous sympathy for plaintiffs' suffering and unequivocally condemns child slavery. In all its forms. Everywhere," the filing reads.
Katyal did not reply to a request for comment.
The case is No. 19-416 Nestlé USA v. John Doe.

Diggs on Aga Khan, his connections, and his personal lavish life
Attendees of the Trudeau's questionable 2016 vacation at the Aga Khan island:
Justin Trudeau and Sophie Gregoire
Seamus O'Regan (current Minister of of Natural Resources of Canada) and Stelios (Steve) Doussis → moar here: https://wearethene.ws/notable/76698
John Kerry
Interdasting connections…
Aga Khan: Made honourary Canadian citizen in 2010 (Stephen Harper admin). Also a Harvard alum. During his time at Harvard, he was elected a member of the all-male Delphic Club. JP Morgan was allegedly also part of the Club during one point in time. In 2010, the Club had hired strippers for a "punch event"…whatever that is.
John Kerry, Former US SoS that helped craft Iran deal: Skull & Bones member, Stepfather of Chris Heinz (Rosemont Seneca Partners → Hunter Biden).
Kerry's former Head of Security, John Scott Moretti, was arrested in May 2020 for raping a child. Previously Moretti was the Deputy Regional Security Officer at the US Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq during the period of Jul 2012 to Nov 2012. This is coincidentally during the timeframe of the 2012 Benghazi attacks.
In 2011, HRC as SoS spoke at the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), thanking them for hard work on the New Silk Road Initiative.
Trudeau or his wife have been to the Aga Khan island three times: Dec 2014, Mar 2016, and Dec 2016
Trudeau also passed Bill C16, a bill that added gender identity and gender expression to the list of topics that would be considered discrimination. Trudeau's cabinet also passed Motion 103, which "condemn[s] Islamophobia and all forms of systemic racism and religious discrimination."
AKDN's partners include: MasterCard Foundation, major banks across the globe (Scotiabank, BNP Paribas, Citigroup Foundation), UNICEF, UNDEP, WHO, UN World Food Programme, UNESCO, The World Bank, OXFAM, Save the Children Fund, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, USAID, Microsoft, Margaret A. cargill Foundation, Johnson & Johnson, US DoS, USDA, US EPA
Aga Khan has been pictured with David Rockefeller, Queen Elizabeth, and Prince Philip.
Aga Khan's personal life
All multiple marriages and an interest in horseracing, breeding horses, and equestrianism. Aga Khan III gave Queen Elizabeth II a horse. The current Aga Khan owns horse-breeding farms in France and Ireland. He also has an interest in beautiful women, fast cars, skiing, and race horses - owning "houses on five continents, numerous cars, a Gulfstream private jet and vast yachts." He also owns numerous estates and properties worldwide, including an island in the Bahamas. Aga Khans order their women to "be both subservient and decorative. 'There is no discussion on this,' he told his second wife, the Begum Inaara, at the beginning of their marriage. 'I determine things. You obey.'" He dislikes public attention of his extravagant lifestyle. The current Aga Khan likes to be addressed as "Your Highness", a title that was bestowed on him by the Queen in 1957. Former nude Playboy model Elisabeth Hemma Maria del Pilar von Goess* was one of the girlfriends of one of the current Aga Khan. The pattern is consistent throughout all their marriages - lavish presents and attention at the beginning of the marriage and then their interest wanes. In fact, for the current Aga Khan, "no present is too expensive. But when he loses enthusiasm, his heart turns to ice."
* A Pilar von Goess is also found in Epstein's Black Book…The Pilar which Aga Khan had a relationship died in 1999 at 47 due to a supposed brain tumor, so I'm not too sure if it is the same Pilar in the Black Book.
'Aga Khan's "philanthropy"
Some of the areas that the AKDN works in: Agriculture and food security, Architecture, Civil society, Culture, Education, Environment and climate, Financial inclusion, Health, Humanitarian assistance, Infrastructure development, Media, Music, and Tourism promotion. In fact, it owns the Serena Hotels chain, employing 6000 people. Islam prohibits the drinking of alcohol, yet the Aga Khan Museum and its Serena Hotels chain serve alcohol. The AKDN notes that these are not "Islamic spaces" or "religious spaces".
Aga Khan is being used to influence international immigration policies, reform global views on Islam, and amass donations from donors (aka taxpayers) to then redistribute it according to their beliefs and values. The saying goes: Doing good for humanity.

Re-post from NZ#1
Have you read Greg Hallet's work? I cant find the book online anymore but there's this:
THE SEX COLLECTORS & NEW ZEALAND: A BLACKMAILER'S GUIDE
'Mafia, Blackmail & The New Zealand Government'
Greg Hallett: So here we are, talking about "New Zealand - A Blackmailer's Guide".
One of the things I found out over the last ten years of studying governments and listening to intelligence and counter-intelligence is that those in government are sexually compromised, and their sexual secrets are collected and then they are promoted into governments and into judiciaries and into all the positions of importance.
In 2007 I wrote and published "New Zealand - A Blackmailer's Guide".
It was nominated for "Book of the year" and then, within about ten days, the article was removed, the book was no longer nominated, and concerted government attacks began, because I got the sexual secrets of New Zealand politicians and judges - the same sexual secrets that were sold to foreign countries to control New Zealand.
The person who collected the sexual secrets on New Zealand is the same person who became the Prime Minister - Helen Clark. She collected the sexual secrets from the seventies and sold them to a Russian intelligence agent called Valenti Putin. He had two body doubles, also living in Wellington between 1980 and 82, and they were called Alexander Putin, Valenti Putin and Alexia Putin.
Helen Clark collected the sexual secrets of New Zealand's politicians, lawyers, judges, mayors, gave them Valentin Putin, and he used them to create and govern New Zealand as a communist mafia dictatorship, that would do absolutely anything that it could to cover up its sexual shame.
When I published "New Zealand - A Blackmailer's Guide" in October 2007, in June 2008 James Frederick Bazley, released out of prison and working as a Tax Account, Budget Advisor in Invercargill, he contacted his ex-wife Dame Margaret Bazley and said he wanted to murder me. Dame Margaret Bazley stopped it, she said no. I didn't know about it actually - Intelligence told me about that probably three years later.
With my radio interviews, people have been ringing up from overseas, complaining to New Zealand Foreign Affairs, so all of the government departments, 12 of them, got together, and they worked out a way to attack me. So what they did is they each sent me fines, and then when I replied to those fines, they ignored my response and send me penalties on those fines.
At the same time I had five cases going on in the High Court, one in the District Court, with all of my evidence suppressed. The end result of going through the New Zealand Judiciary for four years, from 2007 to 2011, the end result was that the judiciary could not hear any one of my cases.

SNP council to impose 20mph limit on thousands of Glasgow streets… but what about the potholes?
Over the next 18 months, the cash-strapped city council will spend ?4.5million on reducing the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph on more than 3,800 streets across the Dear Green Place
Paul cargill, PA Scotland & Ben Borland Editor
1 MAY 2024
Thousands of streets across Glasgow are set to have the speed limit lowered from 30mph to 20mph as part of a ?4.5million project. The proposed changes would see speeds reduced on 3,868 streets over the next 18 months.
The move is aimed to make roads safer and encourage more walking and cycling in quieter and less congested neighbourhoods. However, critics have hit out at imposing a blanket 20mph limit while others say the money would be better spent fixing the city's potholes.
City leaders from the SNP-run administration agreed a policy in 2020 to make 20mph limits the standard for all residential streets, the city centre, other main shopping areas or where there are high levels of walking, wheeling or cycling.
Alongside capital funding, the scheme is being supported by a ?2.5million taxpayer-funded grant from 'Places for Everyone', an active travel infrastructure fund backed by Transport Scotland and administered by Sustrans.
Councillor Angus Millar, city convener for climate and transport, claimed: "A city-wide 20mph speed limit will bring Glasgow in line with many other UK cities and help to create safer streets and communities for all of us, reducing the risk of accidents and the severity of injuries sustained.
"Reducing the impact of traffic on communities will also contribute to the wider shift needed towards more sustainable forms of transport which is vital if we are to achieve our target of Glasgow becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
"We know that many other cities have a 20mph speed limit and the evidence that's been gathered shows a minimal impact on the journey times for cars and buses. Reduced speed limits on local roads can help create a safer environment for children and other vulnerable road users, while encouraging more people to walk, wheel and cycle."
Consultants assessed more than 5,700 streets across Glasgow, concluding the 1,400 streets - some 288km - that already have a 20mph limit should remain at that speed. Only 472 roads will be allowed to stay with a 30mph limit, with the council saying the "majority" of the city's residential streets will be 20mph.
"Moving to 20mph is a technically complex undertaking and the council has been working with national partners to identify the best mechanisms to take this work forward," said Cllr Millar. "Now that the roads assessment is complete, the necessary legal, technical and logistical work required to implement the new 20mph speed limit can start.
"We will also be engaging with stakeholders and will continue to raise awareness of the mandatory speed limit to encourage drivers to lower their speeds in line with the new limit."
'Taking this step will help create safer, fairer streets'
Karen McGregor, Scotland director at Sustrans, said: "Sustrans is delighted to support Glasgow City Council and communities across the city with making this positive change. Time and time again, the evidence has shown that lowering speed limits in our built-up areas creates neighbourhoods that are safer for everyone - and that this makes the biggest positive difference for our most vulnerable people such as children, older people and those living with disability.
"60% of Glasgow residents surveyed for the 2023 Walking and Cycling Index said they would find more streets with 20mph speed limits useful to walk or wheel more. Taking this step will help create safer, fairer streets which give everyone more freedom and choice in how they make their journeys."
How long before they ban driving, walking or even just taking a shite?
Fucking farcical. Mandatory, so applies to nobody that does not accept the mandate.

"Former Mining Exec Details Suitcase Full of Cash He Used to Seal Deals" - Glencore, Vitol, Trafigura, Gunvor, cargill
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-02-24/former-glencore-director-says-he-flew-the-world-with-bag-of-cash
February 24, 2021
A former Glencore director said he used to fly the world carrying a bag full of cash to secure deals for the commodity trader, evidence of the industry's longstanding history of corruption, a problem it's still grappling with today.
"I used to go with 500,000 pounds to London," Paul Wyler who was one of Glencore's most senior executives and a board director until 2002, said in an interview for The World for Sale, a book on the history of the commodity trading industry.
In those days paying so-called "commissions" was both legal and even tax-deductible for a Swiss company, Wyler said, adding that Glencore's past as a private company it went public in 2011 had been helpful. "We had advantages if we wanted to pay commissions. So if we wanted to pay certain things, we didn't have to declare it in our annual report."
"Unfortunately this is something that has plagued the commodity industry," Torbjorn Tornqvist, the co-founder of oil trader Gunvor Group Ltd., said of bribery and corruption. "There's a lot of skeletons and many of them, most of them, will never be surfaced."
The current range of investigations echoes the early 1980s, when Marc Rich, founder of the company that became Glencore, was indicted for tax evasion and buying oil from Iran in defiance of sanctions. The saga, which brought Rich infamy, has long haunted public perception of the industry.
Trafigura Group, the second-largest metals and oil trader, faces charges in Brazil that it paid kickbacks to win business with the state oil company. Trafigura has denied the allegations. Vitol Group, the largest oil trader, in December admitted to bribing government officials in Brazil, Ecuador and Mexico – in some instances as recently as July 2020.
Although largely unknown beyond the world of commodity trading, companies like Glencore, Vitol, Trafigura and cargill Inc. have become crucial cogs in the global economy, making billions of dollars of profit every year and supplying a large share of the essential goods of modern life, from crude oil to wheat and copper.
Other traders spoke of an industry where conflict has been seen as an opportunity for profit.
Igor Vishnevskiy, the former head of Glencore's Moscow office, described the company's successful trades in Tajikistan in the midst of the bloodiest conflict of the disintegration of the Soviet Union in the 1990s: "It was a stunning business, actually, because it was a civil war."
Tornqvist, the Gunvor CEO whose company was forced to pay $95 million by Swiss prosecutors in 2019 after one of its employees bribed officials in the Republic of the Congo and Ivory Coast to secure oil deals, said: "The old-style traders, the Marc Rich diehard breed, some of them don't quite get it. Until they're sitting and talking with the FBI. Then they get it."
(This story is based on extracts from Blas and Farchy's book, The World for Sale, to be published tomorrow in the U.K. by Random House Business and by Oxford University Press in the U.S. on March 1.)

"Commodities trading houses help keep Russian oil flowing"
https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/commodities-trading-houses-help-keep-russian-oil-flowing-2022-03-25/
March 28, 2022
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, March 25 (Reuters) - Commodities traders such as Trafigura and Vitol have helped keep Russia's oil flowing through its Baltic and Black Sea ports in March, when some Western firms started to snub the market, according to ship tracking, traders and shipping sources.
Both Swiss-based trading houses have long-term deals with state-run Russian oil giant Rosneft (ROSN.MM) to load crude under agreements struck before Moscow's invasion of Ukraine triggered a wave of Western sanctions this month.
So far in March, the two companies combined have loaded 22 cargoes of Urals crude, equivalent to 2.32 million tonnes of oil or 16.7 million barrels, according to Refinitiv Eikon ship tracking data and sources. They shipped 1.84 million tonnes in February and 1.80 million in January.
The bulk of the oil the two companies buy comes from Rosneft, though a large chunk of the crude Vitol handles via Russian ports comes from Kazakh producers.
Other Swiss-based traders Glencore (GLEN.L), Gunvor and Petraco loaded Russian crude in March, though the volumes they took were slightly lower than in previous months, according to shipping data and information from traders.
Vitol's 10 cargoes is on a par with February and January and broadly in line with an average of 9.6 since its deal with Rosneft started in October. Its monthly average for the first nine months of 2021 was 5.1 cargoes.
Trafigura and Vitol told Reuters they were fulfilling existing contracts and had not struck any new deals for Russian oil since the Ukraine conflict, which Moscow calls a special operation, started on Feb. 24. They did not comment on the volumes of Russian oil they have been buying.
While the long-term contracts are not public, three sources told Reuters that Trafigura has a deal running at least until next year while Vitol's runs until at least October this year. The sources said the contracts gave the companies plenty of flexibility on how much oil they can buy each month.
Deals for April are still being struck but so far Trafigura has lined up eight cargoes for the first 10 days of the month and Vitol has six. The companies are also offering Russian oil known as ESPO Blend, which is exported via Asian ports, in May.
The European Union banned transactions with several Russian energy companies including Rosneft on March 15. However, Brussels gave a two-month wind-down period for contracts already agreed and excluded purchases that were "strictly necessary".
Big Western oil companies TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA), Shell and Exxon Mobil (XOM.N) - as well as Finland's Neste (NESTE.HE) - all loaded cargoes of Russian oil in March.
Most were early in the month and ordered before prior to the invasion, though Britain's Shell snapped up a heavily discounted cargo of Russian oil from Trafigura on March 4. Shell had pledged a few days earlier to end its operations in Russia and later apologised for the trade after a hail of criticism.

Between these two diverted shipments, on February 20 2001, Bermuda law firm Conyers Dill & Pearman lodged an application to register SwissMarine. Glencore declined to say why it decided to launch a shipping venture at that time.
Glencore and Restis Group, one of the 10 biggest ship-owning businesses in Greece, teamed with four former cargill commodities traders in the new company.
Glencore and Restis each had 43 per cent of the voting A stock. Employees received B and C shares which were cash settled. This was not permanent equity - when employees resigned, their shares were paid out in cash.
By 2004 SwissMarine was grossing $US1 billion a year in freight revenue.
The Volcker report detailed the strict instructions Glencore gave to its bankers never to divulge its connection with Iraq oil sales. Glencore imposed similar levels of secrecy on its new shipping company.
Glencore held its stake in SwissMarine through a Swiss company, Sidhalu SA. Appleby Bermuda provided three SwissMarine directors to represent Sidhalu.
"We are providing these directors at the request of Glencore International AG but this is very confidential information," Appleby's April 2003 file note said. "Accordingly, do NOT associate Glencore with SwissMarine under any circumstances."
Glencore told the Financial Review, "For commercial reasons, Glencore's investment in SwissMarine Corporation Ltd ('SMC') was not widely disclosed. Where required, Glencore has disclosed its beneficial ownership in SMC, such as to banks or tax authorities."
In November 2012, the shipping market buzzed with gossip that Dimitris Cambis, a Greek professor with no previous shipping experience, had just bought eight ageing supertankers through a web of front companies for $US204 million.
On February 27 2013 Reuters journalist Jonathan Saul reported in London that "officials involved with sanctions" had shown him shipping documents which showed that Cambis' tankers were being used to ship Iranian oil to China to beat US sanctions.

"Breakingviews - Review: The wild history of the commodities boys" (1 of 2)
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-global-commodities-breakingviews-idUSKBN2AQ1YL
February 26, 2021
LONDON (Reuters Breakingviews) - Javier Blas and Jack Farchy should be awaiting the call from Hollywood. "The World for Sale: Money, Power and the Traders Who Barter the Earth's Resources" contains at least half a dozen narrative threads that would form the basis of a good thriller. But the authors' main achievement is to subject the biggest commodity players, and their impact on the real world, to proper critical scrutiny.
It has become a clich? to describe Glencore, Vitol, cargill and the handful of other major companies that trade oil, metals and food as shadowy, secretive and deceptively powerful. Even so, it's not always apparent just how large they are. The five largest oil traders handle a quarter of the world's daily demand for petroleum while the seven top agricultural traders process nearly half of the world's grains and oilseeds. In 2019 the five largest trading companies had a combined turnover of $865 billion.
This kind of financial heft has made them political players of serious consequence. When Jamaica ran out of cash to pay for its 300,000 barrels a month of oil in the early 1980s, Energy Minister Hugh Hart's only option to avoid riots on the streets was to call Marc Rich. The founder of the eponymous trading firm that eventually became Glencore delivered the oil within 24 hours. When rebels in Libya ran out of fuel in 2011, and when Cuba needed oil in the early 1990s, long-term Vitol boss Ian Taylor personally negotiated a fresh supply.
The striking aspect of these stories is how much risk the traders were taking. The Libyan rebels had no money, so had to pay for refined oil with their own crude, which dried up when government forces blew up a pipeline. When Cuba struggled to make payments to Vitol in the form of sugar, the country invited the trader to help develop domestic hotels. Such bets were ultimately shrewd: delivering for desperate clients meant charging fat fees and commanding their long-term gratitude. But the deals could also have threatened Vitol's survival.
All of which engenders some respect for trader chutzpah. There's also an enticing, spy novel feel to some of the goings-on, amplified by the occasional need to speak about countries subject to sanctions in code. Crude Number Three, for example, referred to illicit Iranian oil. Rich handled this via a bogus middleman from Burundi called Monsieur Ndolo, who was actually one of his own traders.
Still, the beneficiaries of the go-anywhere, do-anything mentality were not just plucky rebels. In a telling comment before he died in 2013, Rich professed his dislike of South Africa's Apartheid policy, but he supplied the racist pariah state regardless. Glencore sold oil it had mixed with cheaper variants to Romania. In 2006, Trafigura paid an inadequate middleman to dispose of toxic waste on an open pit in Ivory Coast, causing a local health emergency.
Alongside their moral shortcomings, the traders also suffered from hubris. Rich, feeling U.S. outrage over his Iran oil trades, lost $172 million betting on zinc. Bermuda-based oil trader John Deuss lost $600 million in a failed attempt to corner the North Sea market. According to Blas and Farchy's sources, even relatively restrained American agri-trader cargill riskily shorted oil in 2008 and 2009, making a $1 billion profit.

"As a private company, cargill is not required to release the same amount of information as a publicly traded company and, as a business practice, keeps a relatively low profile.[9][10] The company was praised by Colorado State University professor of animal science Temple Grandin for allowing The Oprah Winfrey Show to film the inside of a beef slaughter plant in Colorado."
"In 2005, the International Labor Rights Fund filed suit against cargill, Nestlé, and Archer Daniels Midland in federal court on behalf of children who were trafficked from Mali into Côte d'Ivoire and forced to work 12 to 14 hours a day with no pay, little food and sleep, and frequent physical abuse, on cocoa bean plantations."
Low level connections, nothing direct, however the fact that one of their plants was on the Oprah show is worrying.
