The Naples Daily News reported that he had his medical license in Missouri revoked in 1998 due to reporting false information in an autopsy report. He didn't deny charges that he provided inaccurate information in regard to brain tissue samples in a 1996 autopsy. Space Forces Indo-Pacific commander highlights importance of challenging space threats

Commander of U.S. Space Forces Indo-Pacific Brig. Gen. Anthony Mastalir, participated in an international senior-leader panel during the Air and Space Forces Association's Warfare Symposium in Aurora, Feb. 13.
The four-person panel, with more than 4,000 attendees, focused on the imperative of thwarting present and evolving air and space threats in the Indo-Pacific region.
"Space Force Guardians are there to ensure a free and open Indo-Pacific, to uphold the rules-based international order," Mastalir said. "Rules-based international order has underscored nearly 80 years of prosperity for every nation that chooses to participate.
Speaking on denying competitors' space malign operations and campaigning for counterspace operations, Mastalir emphasized the need to work closely alongside U.S. allies and partners.
Mastalir was joined by U.S. Air Force Col. David J. berkland, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces chief of staff; Japan Air Self Defense Force Col. Sugiyama Kimitoshi, Space Operations Group commander; and Republic of Korea Air Force Col. Jongseo Park, Air and Space attach?.
"I strongly believe that multilateral cooperation is really important and very effective, especially in the Indo-Pacific," Kimitoshi said. "That's how to get three countries to work together."
Mastalir highlighted the importance of partner nations training together on a regular basis. He spoke about the recently completed exercise Keen Edge, an annual multi-national event in the Indo-Pacific emphasizing enhanced interoperability across all spectrums of warfare. He underpinned the value space superiority yields in a conflict and the ability to practice space operations in a major training exercise.
"The value of having these three nations represented here, exercising together, can't be overstated," Mastalir said. "When you actually go through the exercise, you start to understand where you are like-minded and what's important to each sovereign nation and their respective defense forces."
Mastalir also shed light on why the rules-based international order is essential to ensuring peace and stability and spotlighted how a free and open Indo-Pacific is not possible without the Space Force's efforts.
"Space superiority not only ensures the combined force has access to space capabilities, but also gives us the ability to deny the adversary the use of space capabilities to protect the combined force from space-enabled attack," Mastalir said.

Man Charged After More Than 100 Body Parts Found in Storage Container
Michael berkland faces five years in prison for storing more than 100 body parts September 8, 2012 -?A former Florida assistant medical examiner is facing up to five years in prison for storing more than 100 body parts, including brains and hearts, in a Pensacola storage container. Michael berkland was arrested Friday on one count of improper disposal/storage of hazardous waste and one count of public nuisance, according to the State's Attorney. When he was arrested, it was discovered that he was driving with a suspended license, so he was charged for that, too.
berkland, 57, spent several hours in jail Friday before bonding out, ABC News affiliate WEAR-TV reported. For the improper storage charge, berkland faces up to five years in prison. He could face up to 60 days in jail on the public nuisance charge.
Lungs, hearts, tissue samples and 10 brains were found Aug. 22 in a storage container at Uncle Bob's Storage that berkland was renting, according to Pensacola police. There were body parts from more than 100 people found in the air conditioned unit. They were stored in formaldehyde in plastic containers, specimen cups, trash bags and one part even in a 32-ounce Styrofoam cup from a convenience store, according to police. Some of the containers were cracked and leaking. Police said they believe the remains are from autopsies berkland did between 1997 and 2007 at funeral homes in Pensacola, Tallahassee, Fort Walton Beach, and Panama City. Some of the containers had patient names and autopsy dates on them while others were blank.

Riley did not run for re-election to the House in November 2002 (as a supporter of term limits, he imposed a three-term limit on himself), instead running for Governor of Alabama and defeating the Democratic incumbent by approximately 3,000 votes - the narrowest margin in the state's history for a gubernatorial race. The result was controversial, as the initial election night count showed a 2,000-plus vote victory for Riley's opponent, Don Siegelman.

The prosecution of former Alabama governor Don Siegelman was driven in part by a desire to cover up activity related to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, according to a new report from a Washington, D.C.-based investigative journalist.
Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery was a hotbed of 9/11 activity, according to the Wayne Madsen Report (WMR), and forces close to the Bush family were concerned that a Democratic governor might get wind of the misconduct and expose it.
Mohamed Atta, who is believed to have flown American Airlines Flight 11 into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, was among the Saudi, Egyptian, and Iranian pilots trained at Maxwell. Part of Atta's training came under the auspices of Doss Aviation, a Colorado company that was owned in part by an Alabama lawyer and entrepreneur named Mark Fuller. President George W. Bush appointed Fuller to the federal bench in 2002, and the judge went on to oversee the trial of Siegelman and codefendant Richard Scrushy.
The Bush family has long-standing ties to Montgomery. George W. Bush transferred in 1972 from the Texas National Guard to serve as political director for the U.S. Senate campaign of Montgomery businessman Winton "Red" Blount. According to WMR, Bush allies understood the Alabama political landscape and knew that a Democratic governor might pose a problem:
In 2002, Air Force Lt. Col Steve Butler, vice chancellor for student affairs at the Defense Language Institute (DLI) in Monterey, California, stated in a letter to the Monterey County Herald that "Bush knew about the impending attacks." Butler was disciplined by the Air Force for his remarks. However, the Air Force appears to have had a good reason to silence anyone who was in a position to shine the light on Air Force culpability in 9/11 and Siegelman, a former Alabama Attorney General and later governor during the 9/11 attack was worrisome to the 9/11 plotters.
A source tells Legal Schnauzer that the Alabama flight training came at the direction of Bandar bin Sultan, who was Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States from 1983 to 2005. He is so close to the Bush family that he goes by the nickname "Bandar Bush."

t r u t h o u t | January 6, 2001 - On July 20, Fort Walton Beach Police Chief Steve Hogue said that a preliminary investigation into Lori Klausutis' death had not turned up any evidence of foul play, trauma to her body or any outward indications of suicide.
However, the autopsy issued by Associate Medical Examiner Michael berkland on August 6 shows clear evidence of severe trauma to the head: a 7 1/2 inch long fracture stretching from the right temple across the top of the head, a contusion in the occipital region (at the base of the skull), a subdural hematoma a collection of blood on the surface of the brain under the skull on the left side opposite the fracture, and eggshell fractures under the brain above the eye socket
Certainly this evidence, in itself, should have been sufficient to launch an all-out police investigation. But, despite these findings, berkland concluded the death was accidental. This apparently caused the police to close the case.
In the autopsy, berkland disclosed that Lori had an "undiagnosed cardiac arrhythmia." Northwest Florida Daily News, the cardiac arrhythmia had "halted Klausutis' heart and stopped her breathing," and the "blow to the head contributed to the death because blood pooled at the point where the fracture occurred."
However, the autopsy states that the subdural hematoma (the blood pooling) was on the opposite side of the brain from the fracture.
Wright and George speculated that the heart valve condition was Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP), although berkland does not come out and state this in the autopsyberkland told the press that "to his knowledge, Klausutis never visited a doctor for irregular heart patterns and had no long-term medical problems aside from lingering injuries from an auto accident years ago." Indeed, Lori's family members apparently wrote the Northwest Florida Daily News, saying that Lori did not have a history of medical problems.
Why, then, did the ABC affiliate in Pensacola (WEAR, channel 3) publish on its website, within three hours of Klausutis' death (before her husband had even been notified) that "Scarborough's office says Klausutis had a history of health problems"? Anna Dobbins of WEAR stated that it was Joe Scarborough himself who called, saying that Lori had a complicated medical history, specifically surrounding "stroke and epilepsy Dobbins added that about a week later, Scarborough's press secretary Miguel Serrano asked them to drop the "complicated health history" story, saying Joe had spoken in error. Tiffany Bates, a Scarborough aide from Pensacola was the last person to speak to Lori alive. According to the press, Bates said that Lori told her she was not feeling well.
There were also rumors of epilepsy. It seems to have first been mentioned by Juanita Bergmann, the woman who found Lori's body. According to the Northwest Florida Daily News, Juanita, a former nurse, speculated that Lori had had a seizure
Mary Potthast, a friend of Lori's said she thought Lori might have mentioned having mild seizures during her youth, but called Lori "the picture of health." Lori's father-in-law, Norm Klausutis, according to Wright and George, "categorically denied that his daughter-in-law had ever had a seizure."
berkland concluded that she had suffered a severe cardiac arrhythmia, or abnormal heart rhythm, which had stopped her heart, causing her to go unconscious and fall, hitting her head on the corner of the desk on her way down. He did not explain how he had ruled out an attack He said, "We know for a fact she wasn't whacked in the head because of the nature of the injury."
Neither of these statements is supported by the medical literature. Quite the contrary. George and Wright quote from a 1997 study of closed head injuries, "In physical terms, the difference between the head moving or being stationary on impact is solely in the frame of reference. There is no physical difference between the forces involved in a stationary head being hit or a moving head striking a fixed object
Furthermore, neither the police report nor the autopsy contain a drawing of the room in which Lori was found, or of the position of her body relative to the furniture. According to Chris George, Juanita Bergmann, the woman who discovered Lori's body, told George that she found the body near a chair, not near the desk

Death probe leaves vexing questions
For a little over two weeks, it was a real-life puzzle worthy of a mystery novel. A popular Florida congressman suddenly announces he's giving up his seat and withdrawing from the Washington scene.
Less than two months later, a 28-year-old female aide is found dead in his Fort Walton Beach office. The aide had seemed perfectly healthy. Initial autopsy results raise only more questions
The story fired imaginations.
This newspaper received numerous inquiries about the case, from Massachusetts and Oregon and dozens of places in between. Some of the writers had dug into the backgrounds of the individuals involved.
"People are waiting and watching," one said. Those who were waiting and watching likely were disturbed by the news we reported Tuesday. We certainly were.
Associate Medical Examiner Michael berkland said Monday that the aide, Lori Klausutis, suffered a heart condition previously unsuspected and undiagnosed that caused her to collapse in U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough's office on the afternoon or evening of July 19.
She fell and hit her head on a desk, he said, and a resulting blood clot caused her death. The fall left "a scratch and a bruise," Dr. berkland said.
That seems to conflict with previous official statements that the aide's body bore no sign of trauma. Dr. berkland acknowledged as much. He said the original denials were intended to prevent public speculation about the aide's death.
"The last thing we wanted to do was answer 40 questions about a head injury," he said. Now, of course, there are deeper questions.
"That we' has got nothing to do with me," Fort Walton Beach Police Chief Steve Hogue told us Tuesday, referring to Dr. berkland's explanation that "we" wanted to keep the head injury quiet.
"I have never lied to the news media. I would never mislead the media for any reason."
Chief Hogue said he "never looked at the body" after it was discovered July 20
"I never heard anything about a scratch," he added, although Dr. berkland did tell him there was a small bruise on the aide's head. The chief said that when he told reporters there was no trauma to the body, he meant that a preliminary examination had uncovered no major trauma. And he said he is satisfied with Dr. berkland's work.
We're not.
This story has raised serious questions from the beginning and continues to confound. Now, because of Dr. berkland's statements, our questions are not just about a 28-year-old woman's death but also about the investigation of her death.
Who, exactly, decided the head injury would not be disclosed? Can we depend on authorities to be honest about the progress of future investigations? What else, if anything, might the medical examiner have kept under wraps? Nobody ever got in trouble by keeping his mouth shut, the saying goes. Maybe not, but nobody ever won the public's trust that way, either.

The Medical Examiner background…very dicey. This is the case of the 2009 death of Sheena Morris. Connection of Dr. Michael Baden, recently known for his work in the Jeffrey Epstein case on the family's behalf.
Morris was found hanging in the shower of her room at the Bridge Walk Resort in Bradenton Beach on New's Year's Day in 2009. Her death was ruled a suicide by the Bradenton Beach Police Department and the District 12 Medical Examiner's Office.
But Morris' parents have maintained that she did not kill herself, and instead believe she was killed by her then 45-year-old boyfriend.
Michael berkland berkland worked as a medical examiner in the District 1 medical examiner's office in Pensacola from 1997 to 2003, but was fired after he failed to complete autopsy reports. He ultimately lost his medical license as an osteopathic physician indefinitely.
It was not the first time berkland had been fired as a medical examiner. In 1996, he was fired from his position as a contract medical examiner in Jackson County, Miss., for falsifying autopsy records.
More recently, berkland was charged in 2012 with improper storage of hazardous waste, keeping a public nuisance and driving with a suspended license after body parts were discovered in more than 100 containers, including soda cups and plastic food containers, in a Pensacola storage unit that was auctioned off when he was unable to pay the rent.
Brodsky also cited the second autopsy conducted in 2010 by renowned forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden that found the death to be a sucide.
Baden, who is mostly recently known for his work in the Jeffrey Epstein case on the family's behalf, recalled the case when contacted by the Bradenton Herald on Wednesday. He said he could not comment without first reviewing his records.

That question is perhaps unaswerable. But it should be raised, along with all the many other questions that arise in this case. This series intends to review the facts and raise these questions.
"Absolutely no evidence of foul play"
Mrs. Klausutis was found dead in Rep. Joe Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach office at about 8:10 a.m. on July 20 by Juanita and Andreas Bergmann, who claim they had an appointment that morning with Rep. Scarborough to facilitate Mr. Bergmann's application for a green card. Mr. Scarborough, however, was still in Washington, D.C. and flew home only later that day.
The day after Mrs. Klausutis was found, the police said there was no evidence of "foul play or trauma to her body." The following day, having performed his autopsy and while waiting for the results of blood tests, Dr. Michael berkland, the medical examiner, told the press that there was "absolutely no evidence" that Lori was "a victim of 'foul play.'" By July 26, although berkland had still not received the toxicology results, which he noted would likely play a key role in determining whether Ms. Klausutis had died of natural causes or accidentally, berkland stated that he had "ruled out homicide." While he said he didn't think that suicide was a likely scenario either, he stated that he was also investigating it as a possibility.
Finally, on August 6, berkland released the autopsy. Oddly, although the police had originally stated that there were no signs of trauma, berkland acknowledged that Klausutis had sustained a "scratch and bruise" on her head which had been noted in the original death investigation. His explanation for having lied to the press was to "prevent undue speculation" about the cause of death.
berkland determined that Lori, an avid runner who ran fivemiles a day, had a prolapsed mitral valve which caused a sudden cardiac arrhythmia an irregular heartbeat which in turn caused Lori to faint "in midstride," and hit her head on the desk. How berkland came up with this theory is unknown since the medical report contains no description of the death scene, no diagram of the location of the body, or its posture or appearance as berkland first observed it on the morning of July 20th..
Early on in the investigation, there were rumors that Ms. Klausutis had suffered from previous health problems, but her family issued a statement contradicting this.
Thus, in the very first chapter of this story, several questions arise. How could a healthy, physically fit, 28-year-old woman suddenly "faint" of a previously undetected heart problem? How could the police, with no witnesses, and knowing from the outset that Ms. Klausustis had sustained a bruise to the head, determine that there was no evidence of an attack? If Rep. Scarborough had an appointment with the Bergmann's, why was he still in Washington, D.C.? Or was he? Why did the police and medical examiner lie to the public about the existence of visible signs of head trauma? They lied to the public so easily. Could they have lied about other things, as well? Given their later reluctance to pursue the case or release any information whatsoever about it, this lie may indicate a less-than-honest handling of the case.

Police reported no signs of a robbery or a violent attack. When the medical examiner was slow to announce a cause of death, speculation began to swirl. The local Northwest Florida Daily News reported getting inquiries "from Massachusetts and Oregon and dozens of places in between."
When one story mentioned suicide as a possibility, Klausutis' father-in-law, Norm, wrote a letter to the editor: "Losing Lori was the most painful event in my life of 62 years. It was far more painful for her husband. … She was extremely happy with her life, job and family. For those who knew Lori, the thought of suicide, as your published reports suggested, is absolutely unthinkable."
Finally, on Aug. 6, Assistant Medical Examiner Michael berkland announced his findings. Klausutis, he wrote, "died as a result of an acute subdural hematoma which occurred as a result of a closed head trauma sustained in a simple fall."
The position of the body and her hands showed she had made no effort to break her fall, he wrote, and the nature of her brain injury wasn't consistent with an attacker hitting her. Her heart had a "floppy mitral valve," suggesting she suffered from an abnormal heart rhythm that led to a fainting spell. It also explained why she had felt ill, he said.
At that point, her husband made his one and only public statement about the case, praising berkland's "thoroughness and attention to detail" and adding, "He did a wonderful job in finding the right answers without rushing to make a quick diagnosis,"
But Klausutis' death occurred while the nation was caught up in speculation about the disappearance of Bureau of Prisons intern Chandra Levy and her ties to Rep. Gary Condit, D-Calif. Soon the stories merged in the public's mind, with some labeling Scarborough the Republican Condit (who was never charged with any crime).
Posts on such sites as Truthout and the liberal Daily Kos all but accused Scarborough of murder. Filmmaker Michael Moore talked about registering the domain name "JoeScarboroughKilledHisIntern.com." Rumors claimed her death had something to do with the 2000 election or 9/11 or that it had prompted Scarborough to resign from Congress two months afterward - although Scarborough had announced his resignation before her death. He married his second wife, a Jeb Bush fundraiser named Susan Waren, shortly after his September resignation took effect.
Scarborough, who writes occasional opinion columns for The Washington Post, declined to be interviewed. His fullest comments came in a 2005 letter to Vanity Fair protesting a suggestion he had been caught in "a sleazy sex scandal cover-up."
"Here are the facts," he wrote. "(1) Lori worked in my annex office in Okaloosa County, Florida. (2) I met her no more than three times; I was never alone with her. (3) I didn't leave Congress because of her death; I announced my retirement from Congress in May 2001 - she passed away several months later." The magazine apologized for "any emotional distress."
The "Scarborough scandal" picked up steam in 2012 thanks to an unrelated controversy involving berkland, the medical examiner who had determined that Klausutis died from an accidental fall.
berkland had failed to pay the rent on a storage unit he'd used for three years When opened, it turned out to hold more than 100 containers of human tissue, including brains, hearts and livers. Officials said the remains, kept in leaky cups and dinner boxes, were from private autopsies he had conducted, not ones he'd handled for the state.
berkland, an osteopath, had somehow landed his Florida job despite being fired in Kansas in a dispute over his caseload and autopsy reports, including unproven allegations that he had fabricated some details. In 2003, he was fired from his Florida post for being slow to complete autopsy reports.
After the storage unit discovery, berkland was arrested. Because this was his first criminal offense, he was eligible for a pre-trial intervention program. Upon its completion, prosecutors dropped the charges.
Despite berkland's unrelated troubles, no evidence has emerged to contradict his findings in this case. "That thing has been scrutinized by a number of other pathologists, and it's a solid diagnosis," he said in an interview Sunday. "There's nothing to reopen."
Once Scarborough became a prominent critic of the Trump administration, the right picked up where the left had left off.
Trump, a president with a penchant for fanning the conspiratorial flames with fabricated allegations, seemed eager for something to use against Scarborough.
In a November 2017 tweet, the president asked when NBC would "terminate low ratings Joe Scarborough based on the 'unsolved mystery' that took place in Florida years ago? Investigate!"

A congressional aide in Fort Walton Beach told people she was feeling ill the day before she was found dead, according to a police report.
The Fort Walton Beach Police Department report says Lori Klausutis, an aide to Rep. Joe Scarborough, told a co-worker on July 19 that she was not feeling well, but did not elaborate. She made a similar comment to a mail carrier.
She was found dead in Scarborough's district office the next morning by two people who came to seek help with an immigration case.
Medical Examiner Dr. Michael berkland has said Klausutis, 28, of Niceville, lost consciousness because of an abnormal heart rhythm and fell, hitting her head on a desk. The head injury caused the death, berkland said.
The report, which was released Monday, quotes friends and relatives as saying Klausutis was happily married and was known as "Little Miss Mary Sunshine."
They said she was under moderate stress in the days before she died. She had two assignments due for college courses. She and her husband had recently moved into a new house, and she was looking for a new job because Scarborough recently resigned from Congress, effective in September.
Relatives told police she was upbeat about a job possibility at a local radio station and had recently received a $6,000 raise.
Relatives said she had been taking medication for acne and that she suffered a head injury in a traffic accident when she was a teenager that left her in a coma. When she recovered, she had signs of short-term memory loss.
A mail carrier who came in the office on July 19 said she appeared nervous. He said Klausutis told him she did not feel well.

Bob Riley
Riley did not run for re-election to the House in November 2002 (as a supporter of term limits, he imposed a three-term limit on himself), instead running for Governor of Alabama and defeating the Democratic incumbent by approximately 3,000 votes - the narrowest margin in the state's history for a gubernatorial race. The result was controversial, as the initial election night count showed a 2,000-plus vote victory for Riley's opponent, Don Siegelman.
-This race was highly contested and is good evidence that the race was stolen from Seigleman.
Here is a small but odd connection from the Scarborough case to the Riley/Seigleman race.
"A reporter disappears, then reappears–Reporter Thyrie Bland broke the human-remains story for the Pensacola newspaper and reported that berkland had rented the storage unit. Then Bland vanished. Those who called the paper asking to speak to Bland were told he no longer worked there. He left in the midst of covering what might be one of the biggest stories of the year in the region? Apparently, the answer is yes. An online search reveals that Bland has resurfaced at al.com, the online arm of Alabama newspapers in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Mobile. Bland appears to be focusing on Baldwin County, the area where Siegelman votes disappeared in the middle of the night, giving the 2002 gubernatorial election to Republican Bob Riley. Isn't it curious that a reporter who could uncover information leading to Joe Scarborough, winds up working at the heavily pro-Riley al.com?"

On Aug. 9 this newspaper requested the Police Department's investigative report on the Klausutis case. The next day we requested Dr. berkland's autopsy report. Our requests were refused.
On Aug. 23 we explained, in an editorial, our position that the reports should be released.
On Aug. 24, Daily News Editor Ralph Routon submitted letters to Dr. berkland and Police Chief Steve Hogue asking them to either release the records or cite an exemption to Florida's open-records law. The records were handed over.
On Aug. 29 we reported on the contents of the police file.
Still puzzling is the earlier reluctance to acknowledge Mrs. Klausutis' fractured skull. Said Dr. berkland: "The last thing we wanted to do was answer 40 questions about a head injury." But Dr. berkland should have known that refusing to disclose a head injury eventually would double the questions. There would be 40 questions about the injury, and 40 (or more) questions about the secrecy.
As it was, the Klausutis investigation was handled in a way that only generated rumors.
Which brings us to the second question:Was the investigation handled in a way that assumed an accident had occurred, and shunned contrary information?
This is a tough one. If we accept that the ruling of accidental death is correct, it's easy to say - with hindsight - that conflicting information must be wrong. But investigators couldn't have known this from the beginning.
In at least one instance, police were openly skeptical of a witness whose account differed from the accepted timeline leading to Mrs. Klausutis' death.
Authorities believe that Mrs. Klausutis died inside Rep. Scarborough's office in the Paradise Village complex during the evening of July 19. No one else was in the office; Mrs. Klausutis' husband was out of town on business. The next morning, Mrs. Klausutis' car was still parked outside, lights in the office were still on and the front door was unlocked. A Destin couple walked in and found the body.
But the owner of a security firm hired to check the buildings at Paradise Village told police he had made his rounds around midnight July 19 and had seen nothing amiss. No car. No lights. All doors locked. He stuck to his story. He had even jotted in his log: "All doors secured - no suspicious activity noticed."
The security officer's account was startling. Police didn't believe him.
On Aug. 9, the security officer agreed to undergo a voice-stress test. Just before the test was to begin, he changed his story. He had checked doors at the complex only randomly, he said, and couldn't remember whether he'd noticed office lights or a car.
"It could have been vehicles parked at Paradise Village or lights on inside," he said in a signed statement. "I can't remember."
Investigators were right to be skeptical of the security officer's initial account. We wonder, though, if their skepticism extended to every hard-to-fit fact, every variant version of events that didn't quite jibe with the official conclusions.
For the moment, we'll let others debate those variant versions.
And they probably will. The Klausutis case has fueled imaginative and sometimes inflammatory conjecture on the Internet. We've received hundreds of e-mails about it from across the country. We've taken queries from France and read write-ups from Russia.
The Daily News insisted on viewing official records in this case so that we could report facts, not fantasies, to our readers. We've done that.
<We also wanted to spare the Klausutis family unnecessary grief by distancing ourselves from the bizarre speculations that abound in cyberspace. We hope we've done that.

EDITORIAL - An untidy wrap-up for Klausutis case
Despite weeks of furious speculation on the Internet, it's likely that Lori Klausutis died exactly the way investigators say she died: She collapsed because of a heart condition, struck her head and suffered a fatal blood clot.
That much is clear from this newspaper's examination of Fort Walton Beach police reports and interviews with the medical examiner, Dr. Michael berkland.
Less clear are two significant aspects of this strange tale: why authorities initially misled the public about Mrs. Klausutis' injury, and whether police seriously considered other explanations for Mrs. Klausutis' death.
Let's look at the first question.
Mrs. Klausutis, a 28-year-old aide to U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough, was found dead in the congressman's Fort Walton Beach office on the morning of July 20. Within a few hours, police were telling reporters there was no sign of physical trauma.
About 3:30 that afternoon, Detective Dan Sequeira attended the autopsy. "I observed a fractured skull," he wrote in his report.
From the first day, authorities knew that Mrs. Klausutis' skull had been cracked. Yet, publicly, they let stand the fiction that her body bore no sign of trauma.
'''The truth came out Aug. 6 - more than two weeks after the body's discovery - when Dr. berkland issued a news release outlining the likely cause of death: "A previously undiagnosed valvular condition of the heart … caused Lori to fall and strike her head … acute subdural hematoma (blood clot) … ruled as accidental."

Dr. Michael berkland, who found inconclusive results after performing the Klausutis autopsy, had recently relocated to Florida; and public reports reveal that berkland's medical license in the state of Missouri was revoked in 1998 as a result of berkland reporting false information regarding brain tissue samples in a 1996 autopsy report-charges that berkland does not deny.
A former agency official who spoke to us directly recognized the name of Dr. Michael berkland and identified him as being "on the roster of secret CIA operatives used in sensitive and controversial deaths involving government officials to cover up evidence and keep families and American citizens from learning the truth about a loved one's death," cover-ups which can then be "employed to blackmail particular government officials involved."
berkland was also reportedly suspended from his position as a medical examiner in the state of Florida in July, 1999.
According to an August 8, 2001 American Politics Journal (APJ) report, repeated requests to Dr. Stephen Nelson, Chairman of the Medical Examiners Commission, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, failed to verify that Dr. berkland's suspension was lifted and that his license and disciplinary record were clear at the time of the Klausutis autopsy. Dr. Nelson was appointed Chairman of the Commission by Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
berkland acknowledged on Monday, August 6 according to APJ, that Lori had sustained a "scratch and a bruise" on her head and that his original denials were to prevent undue speculation about the cause of death. "The last thing we wanted was 40 questions about a head injury," berkland said.
An August 29, 2001 report in the Northwest Florida Daily News revealed that "Klausutis' head injury was more severe than previously reported," raising additional obstruction of justice questions for any future grand jury probe.

The same North Florida newspaper removed its September 1, 2001 story revealing that a "controversial autopsy report by 'where's the brain section' berkland raises more questions than it answers." There are no indications why the report was removed.
This, reminiscent of Arkansas medical examiner Dr. Fahmy Malak who was involved with the "dead boys on the railroad tracks" and other important autopsies involving suspicious and curious deaths during the Clinton gubernatorial administrations.
The long-time intelligence official who spoke with us about Dr. Michael berkland also immediately recognized the name of Dr. Malak as "another one of the 'roster' doctors called in to cover up suspicious deaths involving high government officials," raising more serious questions about similar deaths involving government physicians.
The intelligence agent told us "these physicians are also known in our circles as'suicide doctors,'employed to cover up government-sponsored murders of public officials, legislators, political candidates, whistleblowers, journalists and activists attempting to expose government corruption-in other words, orchestrating a 'suicide' to cover up 'red squad' hits."
Toxicology and pregnancy tests have been sealed by Florida authorities according to reports, which adds to speculation concerning why the national media blacked out coverage of the suspicious death of a young female congressional staff aide in the member's own office.
Interestingly, the Klausutis family refused to acknowledge the fact that their daughter knew or even worked for Scarborough for nearly three years as a congressional aide, leaving her important position of state-wide honor out of her obituary altogether.
Moreover, as a high-profile deceased member of the Young Republicans of America national organization, a search of the Young Republicans web site found no mention of Lori or her contributions to the Florida Republican Party, nor any tribute to her memory, or comments about her passing, or position as Rep. Scarborough's aide, also according to APJ.

The strange death of Lori Klausutis received only a few short stories in the Northern Florida press; and the Washington Post printed only 44 words in a Nation-in-brief report dealing with the covered up and mysterious death of a female staffer in a Republican congressman's district office-a story that shocked us after hearing about it from federal agents because the revelation was kept from the public. The 44 words released were:
"FORT WALTON BEACH, FL-Lori Klausutis, a 28-year-old office worker for Rep. Joe Scarborough (R-FL), was found dead in the congressman's district office. Police said preliminary findings from the medical examiner's office showed no foul play or any outward indication of suicide."
Curiously,Klausutis was reportedly active in Florida's Bush v. Gore 2000 election recount activity-raising questions about what she knew; and on Friday, July 20th, 2001, her body was found slumped next to a desk on the floor of Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach office where Lori served as a constituent services coordinator since May, 1999.
Klausutis was found around 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning by a couple arriving for an appointment, and she had been dead for some time as the police cordoned off the office for an investigation; but they later announced that there was no reason to suspect foul play, nor were there signs of suicide-but national news outlets commenced a total television blackout.
Scarborough had recently resigned from Congress-prematurely and unexpectedly-on the heels of reported rumors about his marital fidelity and shortly after his marriage ended in divorce.
Not choosing to bring to bear the substantial power of a U.S. congressional office to get to the bottom of Miss Klausutis' death or force a full investigation given the secret documents to which she had access according to U.S. intelligence, Scarborough's office released a short statement several hours after the discovery of her body:
"My staff and family are greatly saddened by the loss of Lori Klausutis. I know Lori will be missed by the thousands of citizens who regularly contact my office to seek assistance with a variety of problems. May God grant Lori's family the grace, comfort and hope that will get them through this difficult time."
Intelligence "roster" of autopsy cover-up physicians and hit teams
Reports revealed that Scarborough's press secretary Miguel Serrano mentioned health problems in Klausutis' past and Associate Medical Examiner Dr. Michael berkland said "She had a past medical history that was significant, but it remains to be seen whether that played a role in her death."
A member of her immediate family rejected the Scarborough office intimations that Lori had medical problems, reporting that Klausutis was a fine athlete, having recently run an 8 kilometer race with a good time as a member of the Northwest Florida Track Club.

"An Air Force connection–The obituary for Lori Klausutis reveals that her husband was T. J. Klautsutis of Niceville, Florida. A brief Web search reveals that Dr. Timothy J. Klausutis is a prominent member of the U.S. Air Force. One site indicates he conducts studies on navigation and miniature weapons systems for the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL). What does this mean? We aren't sure, but it reminds us that the Air Force had a number of curious ties to the Siegelman case. The prosecution team set up a shop, not at the U.S. Attorney's Office, but at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. Meanwhile, northwest Florida and southeast Alabama continue to form perhaps the No. 1 "Corridor of Corruption" in the United States. The area is home to gun running, drug smuggling, shadowy military installations, slippery real-estate moguls, and a justice system that perhaps is best described as "evil." Powerful forces make a lot of money from the dysfunctional mess, and they don't want it to change.
They certainly do not want the death of Lori Klausutis to be revisited. And that means it probably won't be."

(3/15/11) Many Americans probably have forgotten, or never knew, that a 28-year-old female staff member was found dead in the summer of 2001 in the office of U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough (R-FL). Officials in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, determined that Lori Klausutis died from an accident. The mainstream press largely ignored the case, but our review of several investigative reports indicates the official finding is highly questionable.
Why should we doubt the finding of an accidental death in the Lori Klausutis case? Here are several reasons:
The nature of the head trauma does not suggest an accidental death-According to a report fromAmerican Politics Journal (APJ), Dr. Michael berkland, medical examiner, determined that Klausutis had an undiagnosed cardiac arrhythmia that caused her to faint and hit her head on a desk in Scarborough's office. The fainting story does not add up-What is the likelihood that an apparently healthy woman, who ran marathons, would faint and hit her head on a desk in such a way that would cause death? It's pretty unlikely, our research indicates. Reports APJ
A report at onlinejournal.com, stated that such a fall in a healthy person is unlikely to cause death. berkland's determination of an accidental death, however, brought the investigation to a virtual halt.
The medical examiner had a troubled history-Before moving to Florida, Dr. berkland had practiced in Kansas City, Missouri. His time there ended in controversy.
Jennifer Van Bergen, writing at Truthout, provides a summary of the oddities surrounding Lori Klausutis's death:
* The congressman (an ardent and vocal supporter of G.W., by the way) resigns only six months after re-election, just prior to his aide's death. The reason: amid rumors of marital infidelity, the recently-divorced husband wants to spend more time with his sons.* A medical examiner who had his license revoked in another state. Why? He lost it falsifying autopsies.
* The medical examiner's supervisor had contributed thousands of dollars to the congressman's election campaign.
* Contradictory reports about whether there is a visible head injury or not.
* A medical conclusion that contains several inconsistencies. First, that Mrs. Klausutis, who was a marathon runner, died of a cardiac arrhythmia. Second, that although she had suffered a fractured skull and a "contracoup" bruise on the opposite side of the brain, the injury could not possibly have been caused by a physical assault.
* Then there's the question of whether the office was locked and the lights were on. One report says the door was locked and the lights were off; another report says the door was unlocked and the lights were on.

We can do this.. the Lori Klausutis case hinges on hushing things up. In the articles and stuff we found, a few vlear facts are mentioned that are enough to blow this case wide open.
We need to locate a few key pieces of evidence that are in the public domain. So I ask of you, to keep this case in the breads untill we locate the evidence and plaster it far and wide allover the web. Untill THE CASE IS RE-OPENED.
Here are the things we need to find:
1) 2 interviews on local stations that Morning Joe gave withing 3 hours of the body being discovered, in these interviews, he planted the story on her bad health. These interviews were referenced by the medical examiner michael berkland, saying that, based on this, she died because of heartcondition.
2) husband, family, friends. FIND THEM! It has been reported that these people didnt know about any medical problems. Surely, they told the press, facistbook or twat. FIND those articles.
3) Medical report. Was published, but yanked off the webiste. Deleted from wayback machine. FIND a copy
4) name of police chiefs and detectives working on the case. perhaps they told someone. FIND the names.
5) #whereWasJoe ? He was "at home". Who verified that? Witnesses? Where did he say that?
6) who found the body? What were their statements? Was the light on or off? Door locked or closed? WHO were they supposed to meet at 8 am? If they were meeting joe, WHY wasnt he there???
7) police report
8) anything in local newspapers.
9) name of press agent for Joe and anything he said about the case
10) names of co-workers, janitors and anyone else and what they told the press.

The Klausutis family, which has maintained all along that Lori Klausutis' death was a private matter, declined comment on berkland's findings.
T.J. Klausutis, Lori Klausutis' husband, did commend berkland on his "thoroughness and attention to detail" in uncovering a cause of death
"He did a wonderful job in finding the right answers without rushing to make a quick diagnosis," he said.
Klausutis' body was found on the floor of Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach office about 8 a.m., Friday, July 20. She had been working alone in the office the day before and is believed to have fallen between 4:45 p.m. when she spoke to an associate and the close of business, berkland said.

Who Was Lori Klausutis?
Lori Klausutis was originally from Atlanta, Georgia and was born on August 2, 1972. She was the daughter of Linda and Larry Bolterstein, sister to Kelly Ann, and wife of Timothy Klausutis from 1997-2001. Lori was known as an active member of the Catholic church in her area, and was described as nice and sweet person. According to her obituary, Timothy worked as a member of the United States Air Force and studied at the Georgia Institute of Technology, according to LinkedIn. Since the news of her death, many have been searching for Lori Klausutis' pictures to see who she is, many of which can be found online.
Lori Klausutis' Death
For those who don't know, Lori Klausutis interned for Scarborough when he was a U.S. congressman in Florida from 1995-2001. Klausutis died two months prior to him resigning in order to spend more time with his family, . Lori Klausutis' cause of death was a cardiac arrhythmia, which caused her to fall and hit her head against a desk inside the district office. She was found dead on July 20, 2001 by a couple who had an appointment that morning. She was 28 at the time and her death was ruled as an accident, although an autopsy also revealed her death to be inconclusive. The medical examiner on her case, Michael berkland, later commented that Klausutis had an undiagnosed heart condition that contributed to her death when she fell.
Where Was Joe Scarborough?
At the time, Scarborough was at home, but released a statement after he heard a staffer of his died.
"My staff and family are greatly saddened by the loss of Lori Klausutis," the statement said. "I know Lori will be missed by the thousands of citizens who regularly contact my office to seek assistance with a variety of problems. May God grant Lori's family the grace, comfort and hope that will get them through this difficult time."
MSNBC Contributor vs. Scarborough
Before Trump accused Scarborough of having something to do with Klausutis' death, Markos Moulistas, founder of the Daily Kos blog, was banned from appearing on MSNBC ever again, after repeatedly mentioning the scandal on air in 2011. The exchange between Scarborough and Moulistas grew uglier and ultimately ended in the MSNC contributor being banned from the network.
"I never accused him of murder, much less three or four times," Moulitsas wrote in a blog post regarding the incident. "In fact, we had just had a pleasant chat in the Meet the Press green room in December, which wouldn't be the case if I was bedeviling him with accusations of murder. The only time I ever mentioned the incident was this post in 2005, in which I discussed him as a potential Senate candidate."
An email from MSNBC President Phil Griffin to Moulistas, read: "I'm hoping this will be only temporary and that the situation can be resolved in a mature fashion, but until then I just don't know how one could reasonably expect to be welcomed onto our network while publicly antagonizing one of our hosts at the same time."

Sept. 8, 2012- – A former Florida assistant medical examiner is facing up to five years in prison for storing more than 100 body parts, including brains and hearts, in a Pensacola storage container.
Michael berkland was arrested Friday on one count of improper disposal/storage of hazardous waste and one count of public nuisance, according to the State's Attorney. When he was arrested, it was discovered that he was driving with a suspended license, so he was charged for that, too.
berkland, 57, spent several hours in jail Friday before bonding out, ABC News affiliate WEAR-TV reported. For the improper storage charge, berkland faces up to five years in prison. He could face up to 60 days in jail on the public nuisance charge.
Lungs, hearts, tissue samples and 10 brains were found Aug. 22 in a storage container at Uncle Bob's Storage that berkland was renting, according to Pensacola police. There were body parts from more than 100 people found in the air conditioned unit.
They were stored in formaldehyde in plastic containers, specimen cups, trash bags and one part even in a 32-ounce Styrofoam cup from a convenience store, according to police. Some of the containers were cracked and leaking.
Police said they believe the remains are from autopsies berkland did between 1997 and 2007 at funeral homes in Pensacola, Tallahassee, Fort Walton Beach, and Panama City. Some of the containers had patient names and autopsy dates on them while others were blank.
After an autopsy, normal procedure is for for doctors to keep a tissue sample for a year in case further tests are needed, the medical examiner told WEAR-TV, adding that there is no reason to keep an entire organ.
berkland, who is no longer licensed in Florida, rented the unit from August 2009 until Aug. 22, when the unit was auctioned off for $900 after berkland was late on payment, police said. The manager of the storage unit, George Klages, told police that berkland was usually late on payment but had previously always paid just before the unit was to be auctioned off.
The body parts were found in cardboard boxes when the purchaser was cleaning out the unit. Office furniture and other belongings were also found in the storage container.
berkland worked for the Medical Examiner's Office between 1997 and May 2003 when he was fired for failing to complete autopsy reports in a timely manner, police said.
The Medical Examiner is working to contact family members of the people the organs belonged to, WEAR reported.

But the recent discovery of human remains at a storage unit in Pensacola, Florida, casts doubt on that ruling. Former Associate Medical Examiner Michael berkland has been charged with stealing some of the more than 100 body parts found in August in a storage unit he rented.
The state attorney's office on Wednesday added four misdemeanor theft charges to previous charges of creating a public nuisance and felony improper storage of hazardous waste, which were filed in September.
The organs and body parts, several still intact, were found in a unit at Uncle Bob's Storage in Pensacola.
The gruesome discovery was made when the contents were auctioned off after berkland stopped paying rent for the unit.
berkland, who performed the bulk of the autopsies in Okaloosa and Walton counties from 1997 to 2003, rented the storage unit in 2009.
berkland performed autopsies after he was fired from the medical examiner's office.
The body parts berkland took the time to label as samples indicated they came from autopsies performed between 1997 and 2007. Other items were unlabeled and stored in containers that included plastic soft drink cups.
The new charges allege berkland illegally possessed organs or body parts of four people.
"We will be arguing that while in some cases Dr. berkland may have been authorized to perform autopsies, the body parts or organs he kept without the permission of the family constitutes theft," said Greg Marcille, chief assistant state attorney.
Marcille said because there is no way to put a value on a body part or human organ, the latest theft charges against berkland are second-degree misdemeanors carrying a maximum sentence of 60 days in jail.
Eric Stevenson, berkland's attorney, said "any property he possessed he came by lawfully."
"There was no criminal intent to deprive anybody of property they were entitled to," Stevenson said.

Dr berkland himself turned out to be running a house of horrors and in September 2012 he was busted for illegally stored body parts, tissue samples, organs, and brains, being kept in freezers in an industrial lock-up he was renting. Therefore we know for a fact that berkland was corrupt when caught 11 years after Lori's death. Despite this, according to the Daily Mail, he was let off without charges!
berkland's murky past also stretches to before Lori's death.
"Discovering Death" cites that in 1998 his licence was suspended for dodgy autopsy practices: he was re-instated on the personal intervention of Jeb Bush.
So at the time of Lori's death he already owed big favours to powerful Republicans.

Klausutis' death not suspicious
The medical examiner said he is waiting to rule on the death until blood test results are finished.

The medical examiner investigating the death of Lori Klausutis said Saturday there is absolutely no evidence that the 28-year-old employee of U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough was a victim of "foul play."
Associate Medical Exam-iner Dr. Michael berkland will announce how Klausutis died on Wednesday. He is waiting for blood test results and is continuing his investigation into her medical history.
"It would be foolish for me to release the cause of death without the toxicology results in my hand because that one little piece of the puzzle can make all the difference in the investigation," said berkland, who completed an autopsy on Klausutis' body Saturday.
"But there is still no suspicion of foul play."
Klausutis, of Niceville, was found dead on the floor of Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach branch office at about 8 a.m. Friday when a couple arrived at the office for an appointment. berkland said it is likely that Klausutis died sometime Thursday afternoon or evening.
"She had been dead for quite awhile before she was found," berkland said Saturday.
"Based on the physical evidence, I feel comfortable moving the time of her death back to the previous day."
Klausutis' death was likely accidental or the result of natural causes. berkland said it is unlikely that her death was a suicide, but will not rule that out until the blood tests are returned.
"There is no evidence at all that this was an intentional act, but we can't rule it out just yet," berkland said.
Toxicology reports, performed at a laboratory in Gainesville, will reveal the presence of any drugs or other unnatural substances in Klausutis' body, berkland said.
"I've been cautioning people against saying she died of natural causes because there could have been something present in her system that we can't find until we get those results," he added.
berkland said Klausutis had been involved in a serious car accident as a teenager and still suffered from some lingering medical problems, but it is unknown whether those conditions played a role in her death. Many of her medical records are from another state and berkland is waiting to review those as well before making an announcement.
Fort Walton Beach Police Chief Steve Hogue said he is also awaiting toxicology and medical examiner's reports, though the department's preliminary investigation revealed nothing suspicious inside Scarborough's office. Officers found no signs of a struggle, break-in or robbery, Hogue said.

Scarborough and his spokesman Miguel Serrano feel the need to go to two different local TV stations within three hours of her body's being found and invent a nonexistent history of chronic medical conditions for her - in other words - why did they feel the need to lie about Lori's health?
2. Would you trust without question the word of a Medical Examiner who lost his ME license in two separate states (Missouri and Florida) because he LIED about his autopsy work and results.
3. Why should whoever wrote Ms. Klausutis's obituary feel it was appropriate to mention nearly everything about her life – EXCEPT where she'd been working since 1999, i.e with Congressman Scarborough?
Let's add one more-
4. Dr. berkland and his supervisor at the time, Dr. Gary Cumberland were known to be high-giving donors to Scarborough's Congressional campaigns. Did their relationship with Scarborough influence any and all the results issued by the M.E.'s Office?
Lori Klausutis was a smart and loving young woman whose life ended way too soon. Doesn't she deserve justice and doesn't her family deserve to know ALL the facts surrounding her death?
No one knows if Morning Joe had anything to do with her death, but the manner in which authorities handled the press shows one thing. Without all the facts they gave Morning Joe a FULL PARDON. It is doubtful they would do the same for an Ordinary Joe

The initial reports from the Medical Examiner's office denied any trauma to the body that would indicate cause of death. But berkland acknowledged on Monday, August 6th, that Lori had sustained a "scratch and a bruise" on her head and that his original denials were to prevent undue speculation about the cause of death. "The last thing we wanted was 40 questions about a head injury", he said.
And so, what we have here is the death of a healthy young woman who died of a blow to the head and a lie from the Medical Director's office about this blow which was quite obvious to the naked eye. They then had to go search for some reason why she might have "fallen" and hit her head. And they have found an "undiagnosed cardiac arrhythmia". But a number of questions remain to be answered, and we have requested opinions from Dr. Nelson, the Chairman of the Medical Examiners Commission.

Joe Scarborough spun the media to print HIS version of intern Lori Klausutis's death, pushing fake news about her underlying health problems.
A botched medical investigation was performed by corrupt Doctor Michael berkland, who parroted Scarborough's narrative. Years later berkland was busted for illegally storing human body parts, and let off without conviction.
Lori Klausutis's family have always denied ALL claims of "underlying health problems"
Dr berkland himself turned out to be running a house of horrors and in September 2012 he was busted for illegally stored body parts, tissue samples, organs, and brains, being kept in freezers in an industrial lock-up he was renting. Therefore we know for a fact that berkland was corrupt when caught 11 years after Lori's death. Despite this, according to the Daily Mail, he was let off without charges!
berkland's murky past also stretches to before Lori's death. "Discovering Death" cites that in 1998 his licence was suspended for dodgy autopsy practices: he was re-instated on the personal intervention of Jeb Bush. So at the time of Lori's death he already owed big favours to powerful Republicans.
It was Scarborough himself who was writing the "official narrative" being pumped over the airwaves just hours after Lori was found! HE was the source of the claims about her health.
'Within three hours" means that by 11am Scarborough was banging down the line to the local ABC affiliate dictating to them the faked-up story about Lori's "complicated" health that her family has always refuted. The same story Dr berkland relied upon to try and explain why a head wound and blood on a desk isn't murder.

Had Klausutis been struck with a bat or other blunt object, her external and internal injuries would have been on the same side of her head, berkland continued.

Then, on Friday, July 20th, the body of Lori Klausutis, 28, was found slumped next to a desk on the floor of Florida Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach office where Lori had served as a constituent services coordinator since May, 1999. Her body was found around 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning by a couple arriving for an appointment. She had been dead for some time. A second employee, who would have normally arrived for work at around the same time, was away on vacation. Police cordoned off the area for investigation, later announcing that there was no reason to suspect foul play, nor were there signs of suicide.
Scarborough's office released a statement several hours after the discovery:
"My staff and family are greatly saddened by the loss of Lori Klausutis. I know Lori will be missed by the thousands of citizens who regularly contact my office to seek assistance with a variety of problems. May God grant Lori's family the grace, comfort and hope that will get them through this difficult time."
The Congressman returned to Florida that same day, and his office was quick to point out that it was not unusual for him to fly home for the weekend.
There was a great deal of ambiguity over whether Lori had suffered past medical problems. Scarborough's press secretary, Miguel Serrano, made mention of health problems in Lori's past, but could not be more specific. In response, Fort Walton Beach Police Chief Steve Hogue is quoted as saying "That's part of our investigation, checking into her medical history." Associate Medical Examiner Dr. Michael berkland said "She had a past medical history that was significant, but it remains to be seen whether that played a role in her death". Soon after a member of the immediate family rejected out of hand that Lori had any significant medical problems. She was, in fact, quite an athlete, having recently run an 8K with a very respectable time and she belonged to the Northwest Florida Track Club.
The results of the mandated autopsy, however, were deemed "inconclusive" by Dr. berkland, who ordered more specific toxicology tests. These results were expected by the middle of the following week, around the first or second day of August. Dr. berkland commented at the time "This turns over several puzzle pieces in the case of her death and reveals more of the picture".

Here are the facts. Lori Klausutis had a seemingly happy life. A devoted husband who listed on his online homepage "being married to Lori" as one of the honors he enjoyed, a new home in Niceville and a Catholic congregation where she was a cantor and in whose choir she sang, were some of the elements of the Good Life she enjoyed. Her husband, Dr. Timothy Klausutis, did research and development for the munitions group at nearby Eglin Air Force Base, where he presumably made a good livelihood. Although Lori hailed from the Atlanta, Georgia area where she had attended school, there were numerous family members in the area. According to her obituary in the Fort Walton Daily News, Lori had served as President and, later, Treasurer, for the Emerald Coast Young Republicans and as a aide to Congressman Scarborough,she was active during the Florida recounts. A former neighbor, Barbara Cromer, said "Every morning, I would see her run while I walked. We'd wave to each other as we passed. I loved Lori so much. She was wonderful. She was a kind, generous person, so sweet.

(CBS/AP) PENSACOLA, Fla. - Police arrested former medical examiner Michael berkland on Friday for allegedly keeping crudely preserved human remains in a rented storage unit in Florida last month.
berkland, 57, was charged with of improper storage of hazardous waste, keeping a public nuisance and driving with a suspended license. He was released on $10,000 bail.
State Attorney Bill Eddins said more charges may be filed. berkland's attorney, Eric Stevenson, reportedly said that he and berkland will start preparing their defense next week.
Crudely preserved brains, hearts, lungs and other organs and specimens were discovered in more than 100 containers last month in a Pensacola storage unit that berkland rented for about three years. The unit was auctioned off after berkland defaulted on his payments, according to an arrest affidavit.
Ten cardboard boxes stacked in a corner of the unit contained "numerous individual containers with … human remains stored in a liquid substance," according to the affidavit.
berkland declared the contents to be household goods, furniture, boxes, sporting goods and landscaping equipment. A man who bought the unit's contents discovered the human organs after becoming overpowered by a strange smell while sifting through the items, authorities said.
Most of the containers were labeled. About half the containers were medical grade and the other half included soda cups and plastic food containers, according to the affidavit.
Authorities said the organs were stored in a liquid solution containing formaldehyde and methyl alcohol.
"The remains included tissue samples and dissected organs. (Investigators) also advised that there were numerous whole organs, including hearts, brains, a liver and a lung," according to the affidavit.
berkland worked at the District 1 Medical Examiner's Office in Pensacola from 1997. He was fired in 2003 for not completing autopsy reports. berkland's license to serve as a medical examiner in Florida was also withdrawn.
Before arriving Florida, berkland was fired as a contract medical examiner in 1996 in Jackson County, Missouri, in a dispute over his caseload and autopsy reports. His doctor's license was ultimately revoked there.
The Penasacola's medical examiner's office said the organs found in the storage unit appear to have come from private autopsies berkland performed between 1997 and 2007 at funeral homes in the Florida Panhandle and in Tallahassee.
Jeff Martin, director of the medical examiner's office, said about 10 families have been notified that their relatives' remains were in the unit.

Lori Klausutis
Another intern death received very little media attention outside the congressional district of former U.S. Congressman Joe Scarborough in Northwest Florida.
Lori Klausutis was an intern who had been working in Congressman Scarborough's office as a constituent services coordinator since May, 1999. Due to Congressman Scarborough's shocking announcement he was retiring from Congress, Lori was excited about a new job possibility. She was married, lived in a nice home and was active in her Catholic Church congregation. Lori's husband, Dr. Timothy Klausutis worked in research and development at Eglin AFB. A seemingly idyllic life - until the morning of July 19, 2001 when Lori was found dead in Scarborough's congressional offices.
Lori's death was ruled accidental. Conflicting statements were released to the local press by Dr. Michael berkland, the medical examiner, who reached this conclusion: Dr. berkland, speculated that Lori had suffered an abnormal heart rhythm, due to a previously undiagnosed heart condition, causing her to fall, striking her head against a desk. This caused a blow to the head severe enough to cause death.
Many found this finding disturbing as there was a 7 1/2" gash on the wrong side of her head where she supposedly fell and hit it on a desk. Further dissatisfaction was expressed due to Dr. berkland's own questionable background:
He was fired as Medical Examiner in Jackson County Missouri in 1996. In 1998 the state of Missouri revoked his license to practice for a minimum of six years. He was suspended as Medical Examiner in Florida for having failed to report that he was under investigation. The revocation of his license imperiled at least nine criminal convictions in Missouri.
In Special Report published on American Politics Journal, August 8, 2001, "Never Bound by the Truth", Chris George and Denis Wright further supplied proof of Dr. berkland's troubling medical history including two cases in which a reversal of judgment has been sought based on false testimony by Dr. berkland. While the case is officially closed, there continues to be a demand that it be reopened and an impartial investigation be conducted.
Rumors and speculation ran wild in Scarborough County regarding a relationship between Lori and Joe. Despite his recent reelection in 2000, a scant few months later, amidst rumors of infidelity with an office worker and then divorce, Scarborough shocked everyone by announcing his retirement from Congress. His job as publisher of the Independent Florida Sun also became part of his past when Scarborough announced his resignation in order to spend more time with his sons.
Joe Scarborough can now been seen weeknights on MSNBC as host of Scarborough Country.

Disclaimer: This article in no way seeks to blame or indict any particular person, living or dead, for the death(s) of anyone.
Lori Klausutis was a young female employee of a Florida Congressman and was found dead unexpectedly in the Fort Walton Beach office of then Congressman Joe Scarborough on the morning of July 20th, 2001. She had apparently been dead for some time.
This was about the time Scarborough suddenly decided he needed to spend more time with family, resigned as Congressman, etc..
The medical examiner who issued the report that she had died as a result of an undiagnosed heart condition, causing her to fall and hit her head on the desk, has been arrested for storing decaying human body parts in a rental storage unit on September 7th. In addition, this medical examiner, Dr. Michael berkland, has lost his license at least twice, and one of the charges - the one in the state of Missouri - was for false information of brain tissue samples in an autopsy report.
This is what I've maintained for years, that there is a need for true autopsy results to be made public on these cases, especially where brain trauma is involved. This is one of the only ways to discover and publish the damage that so-called non-lethal stun guns can cause at close range.
Before he died or was assassinated, the late Christopher Story had said there are people who have fairly well perfected a 'through-the-wall' shooting system, the ability to target and shoot people through a wall with something. He is now dead, also. No exact cause of death was published or given on Chris Story except the reports of the conspiracy site sources who said he was killed with a biological weapon.

One scientist told me that there is technology now where energy can be blasted through a hard surface and not demodulate the energy until striking soft tissue on the other side. This is undoubtedly what Chris Story had referred to with the 'through-the-wall' comments.
Also today's '30 millimeter' stun guns used to do prison guard work and riot control may be able to produce a worse than non-lethal effect at close range depending on how the modulation is set. A close-up blast to the head from such a stun gun might produce brain hemorrhage which is just the sort of autopsy result that perpetrators would want covered up - the kind of reports that Lori Klausutis's case medical examiner was previously disciplined over.
Other persons have suffered similar such accidents; actor William Holden, former actor and Congressman Sony Bono, Natasha Richardson (actor Liam Neesom's late wife, also "leakage of blood between the brain and skull"), and others. Two of these deaths, Richardson and Bono were listed as skiing accidents and/or falls, but more recent analysis and reports have unturned more evidence in Sonny Bono's death indicating possible foul play. Another infamous person, Dave Ferry, who was a former associate of the late Lee Harvey Oswald, suffered a cerebral hemorrhage just before he was to testify.
At least one reporter seems to think the case on the late Lori Klausutis should be reopened as a cold-case and reinvestigated, especially due to the suspicious recent arrest of the respective medical examiner.

"Former Jackson County coroner Mike berkland provides the brains for a scandal in Florida" -Pitch Weekly: Kansas City Strip, Aug. 30, 2001.
November 21, 2001-Prior to coming to northwest Florida, Dr. Michael E. berkland served as Deputy Medical Examiner for Jackson County, Missouri, from 1994 to 1996. He was terminated from the medical examiner's office because he did not perform his duties as a medical examiner in a timely manner. He later lost the authority to perform autopsies in Missouri when the Circuit Court of Jackson County found that
he had indeed falsified autopsy reports.
Finally, in March 1999, Dr. berkland lost his license to practice medicine of any kind in the state.
According to affidavits filed by Dr. Michael Young, the Acting Medical Examiner of Jackson County, and by Dr. Sam Gulino, the board-certified forensic pathologist who replaced Dr. berkland, Drs. Young and Gulino were "conducting a review of files and specimens from autopsies handled by Dr. berkland," when they "located eight unsectioned brains in containers of Formalin." When the doctors looked at berkland's documentation, Dr. Young notes, "we discovered that Dr. berkland provided false information on the eight accompanying autopsy reports." When these brains were sectioned and studied the findings did not in any way match the rather extensive notes contained within berkland's completed autopsy reports. Dr. berkland "made completed descriptions of the brain in eight of the cases. In each case, there is clear evidence of an intent to make up autopsy findings without performing the necessary examination," according to Dr. Young. A complaint was filed with the Administrative Hearing Commission of the State of Missouri.
Dr. Young provided testimony at the hearing, held in January 1998, as well as substantial documentation of the alleged falsified reports, including photographs of the unsectioned brains, a tabular analysis comparing Dr. berkland's 'findings' with the actual findings and "possible sources of plagiarism for some of Dr. berkland's descriptions."
The Circuit Court of Jackson County found in its ruling on February 19, 1998, that the "defendant poses a substantial probability of serious danger to the health, safety and welfare of his patients, clients and/or the residents of Missouri." The court continued that "respondent's conduct as set forth herein constitutes misconduct, fraud, misrepresentation, dishonesty, unethical conduct and unprofessional conduct in the practice of medicine." It also stated that berkland exhibited incompetence and negligence and barred him from performing autopsies or from serving as a medical examiner in the state.
Dr. berkland did not attend the hearing, but through his attorney he submitted a "Respondent's Answer to Complaint" in which he denied most of the state's allegations and stated that he possessed insufficient information to answer the allegations and "therefore denies same." He also denied "each and every allegation" that in the eight autopsy reports concerning the brains he "made autopsy findings without performing the necessary autopsy examinations."
Subsequently, on March 16, 1999, the Administrative Hearing Commission revoked Dr. berkland's Missouri license with no application for reinstatement for a period of six years, effective immediately, citing the findings from the earlier hearing in 1998. While the previous judgment applied only to Dr. berkland's ability to perform autopsies or to serve as a medical examiner with this new ruling Dr. berkland was prohibited from practicing medicine in any capacity in the Missouri. Dr. berkland filed an appeal, which was denied.

A former medical examiner stashed human brains, hearts and lungs from more than 100 people in soda cups and food containers inside a storage unit, authorities have said. As pointed out in media reports, berkland has an interesting background. The Naples Daily News reported that he had his medical license in Missouri revoked in 1998 due to reporting false information in an autopsy report. He didn't deny charges that he provided inaccurate information in regard to brain tissue samples in a 1996 autopsy. In describing the head injuries, Dr. berkland noted:
* A 7 1/4 inch long skull fracture extending from the right forehead across the top to the left parietal bone.
* A deep scalp hemorrhage in the back of her head.
* "Eggshell" fractures deep inside the skull (in the anterior cranial fossa). * A 75-80 cc acute subdural hematoma in the left temporal area with underlying cortical contusion. The latter is called a contracoup hemorrhage since it occurs on the opposite side fromthe fracture. This collection of blood was reported to be so severe as to cause uncal herniation and cerebellar coning which occur only with the heart pumping blood into the brain, according to the medical literature.
Dr. berkland asserts that contracoup injury can occur only if a "moving head [strikes a] stationary object." not by a moving object striking a stationary head.This is contradicted by authoritative literature.In addition, the forensic literature says that an unguarded fall of at least four feet is required to fracture the skull and a contracoup injury would require substantially greater energy than would be produced by such a short fall. Furthermore, Dr. berkland said that Klausutis fell because a cardiac arrhythmia made the heartbeat ineffectual without explaininghow the heart then pumped enough blood to produce an expanding collection of blood on the left side of the brain, the side opposite to the fracture?Finally, although the report shows the subdural hematoma was severe, it was far from the site deep in the brainstem that controls heartbeat and respiration. Dr. berkland's microscopics give no description of the brainstem and no evidence that it was damaged at all, leaving a question as to the exact cause of death.
Ed Friedlander, M.D., a noted forensic pathologist has stated that "A good rule of thumb is that nothing inside the head short of a gunshot wound through the lower brainstem will kill a person in less than 60 minutes."
Before moving to Florida, Dr. berkland had worked in Kansas City, MO. The August 30 edition of the Pitch Weekly, based in that city, noted in its Kansas City Strip column, "Former Jackson County coroner, Mike berkland, provides the brains for a scandal in Florida." The Pitch said, "berkland claims he 'sectioned' Klausutis' brain during her autopsy to determine that her head was injured by a fall, not by a blow from a weapon.But that's the same sort of claim that got berkland run out of Kansas City in 1996,= after he'd falsely reported that he'd sectioned brains later found whole by his boss-a mistake he blames on poorly proofread reports written with computer macros. No such mistake occurred with Klausutis' brain berkland told the Pitch. 'You can rest assured it was sectioned,' he says." In a September 2 editorial ("An Untidy Wrapup for Klausutis Case"), the Northwest Florida Daily News wrote, "Despite weeks of furious speculation on the Internet, it's likely that Lori Klausutis died exactly the way investigators say she died: She collapsed because of a heart condition, struck her head and suffered a fatal blood clot."Dr. berkland "serves at the pleasure of Dr. Gary Cumberland,interdasting Chief Medical Examiner for District I," according to Dr. Stephen Nelson, Chairman of the Florida Medical Examiners Commission. Dr.Cumberland has not responded to requests asking him to review Dr.berkland's work and offer his opinion.

On the day Lori Klausutis' body was found, police denied finding any sign of trauma to the body or any indication of foul play. In an August 6 press release, Dr. Michael berkland, the Okaloosa County associate medical examiner, acknowledged that there was "a scratch and a bruise" on her head, and said the original denials "were designed to prevent undue speculation about the cause of death." He declared that the death had been an accident, with the proximate cause a subdural hematoma caused by a blow to the head. The blow to the head, he said, probably happened when Klausutis' head had hit a desk after she fainted. Only after Ralph Routon of the Northwest Florida Daily News wrote an editorial urging the release of the records pertaining to Klausutis was the autopsy report released on August 24. The report, however,lacked any description of the death scene: there was no diagram of the location of the body, its position relative to furniture, or observations of superficial wounds.The autopsy describes the prolapsed mitral valve in great detail, claiming that the medical literature sustains the notion that this is likely to be fatal [see footnote]. Dr. berkland contends in lengthy autopsy comments that "there are only about three entities that generally cause one to drop in midsentence or in midstride . . . pulmonary embolus . . . a ruptured aneurysm . . . and most common, is a sudden cardiac arrhythmia." Yet, the medical literature suggests that neither pulmonary emboli nor aneurysms are likely to cause immediate loss of consciousness.A blow to the head is a common cause of loss of consciousness.

Saying he wants to "extinguish the fires of speculation" surrounding the death of an aide to retiring U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough, Associate State Medical Examiner Dr. Michael berkland released the autopsy report of Lori Klausutis on Friday.
The 18-page report is in line with previous statements berkland made concerning how Klausutis, 28, died in Scarborough's Fort Walton Beach branch office sometime during the evening on July 19.
berkland said he hopes the details of the autopsy report will stop rampant speculation on the Internet and elsewhere concerning Klausutis' death.
The report states that Klausutis' death was caused by her head striking the edge of a desk in the office.
The fall that caused her to strike the desk was likely triggered by an undiagnosed heart condition known as floppy mitral valve disease, which is typically marked by abnormal heart rhythms. The affected valve divides the heart's left-side chambers.
Klausutis suffered a hairline fracture of the skull, but berkland has said the fracture was consistent with a fall, not an assault.
The report also backed up berkland's previous statements that Klausutis died accidentally.
"There is no doubt that the head injury is a result of a fall rather than a blow being delivered to the head by a moving object," berkland wrote in the report.
To illustrate the statement, berkland pointed out that Klausutis had bruising on the left side of her brain, and some scratching and bruising on the right side of her head.
"This finding is in marked distinction" from an "injury which results from a moving object (example - a baseball bat) that strikes a stationary head," the report states.
Had Klausutis been struck with a bat or other blunt object, her external and internal injuries would have been on the same side of her head, berkland continued.
berkland said that, to his knowledge, Klausutis never visited a doctor for irregular heart patterns and had no long-term medical problems aside from lingering injuries from an auto accident years ago.
The mitral valve condition is rare, occurring in only 5 percent of the population, including young adults like Klausutis. But it can be fatal, literally bringing the heart to a standstill in extreme cases.
The report mentions two people, including a postal worker, who stopped by Scarborough's office the day before Klausutis was found. Both said Klausutis told them she was "anxious and did not feel quite right," according to the report.
Neither person was named in the report.
Klausutis' body was found shortly after 8 a.m. on July 20 by a couple who had an appointment at Scarborough's office. She worked for Scarborough for two years.
Scarborough, a high-profile, popular Republican congressman, announced earlier this year that he was retiring from his office to spend more time with his two boys.

A former medical examiner stashed human brains, hearts and lungs from more than 100 people in soda cups and food containers inside a storage unit, authorities have said. The remains, which included tissue samples and 10 brains, were found in a unit in Pensacola, Florida that had previously been rented by Dr. Michael berkland.?Medical Examiner Dr. Andi Minyard told the Pensacola News Journal the remains appear to be from private autopsies berkland performed at local funeral homes between 1997 and 2007. berkland worked at the medical examiner's office from 1997 until 2003, when he was fired for failing to complete autopsy reports. As pointed out in media reports, berkland has an interesting background. The Naples Daily News reported that he had his medical license in Missouri revoked in 1998 due to reporting false information in an autopsy report. He didn't deny charges that he provided inaccurate information in regard to brain tissue samples in a 1996 autopsy. I was just piddling around on the twatters and saw something about Joe Scarborough. It got me thinking about the incident where his intern Lori Klausutis turned up dead in his office.

So back when Scarborough was a Republican fat ass was going after him.

In Moore's defense, back then and in hindsight, there is some questionable shit about how the death of Lori Klausutis went down. But Joe was a Republican then. He's a frenly to Moore now.
Even Markos Moulitsas, founder of Daily Kos, got on Joe's bad side. He was a regular guest on MSNBC but was blacklisted from the network for mentioning the suspicious death of Klausutis.

Who is Dr. Michael berkland?
He was a Pathologist whose medical license in the state of Missouri had been revoked in 1998 as a result of berkland reporting false information regarding brain tissue samples in a 1996 autopsy report. berkland never denied the charges.
He moved to Florida in 1997 and in July 1999, berkland was suspended from his position as Medical Examiner in the State of Florida. Yet in 2001 he was issuing reports on Klausutis's death that were questionable if not downright false.
berkland continued to get into trouble and in 2003 not only was he fired but had his license as Medical Examiner withdrawn.

It is more than fair to question the competency and accuracy of any and all Dr. berkland's autopsy reports especially given the inconsistent reports of Lori's health prior to her death. Joe himself said that Lori had a "complicated medical history" including "stroke and epilepsy," though this was absolutely not true.

On Wednesday President Donald Trump tweeted, "Will [NBC] terminate low ratings Joe Scarborough based on the 'unsolved mystery' that took place in Florida years ago? Investigate!" The tweet, predictably, prompted Scarborough and much of the media to question Trump's sanity.
"Looks like I picked a good day to stop responding to Trump's bizarre tweets. He is not well," Scarborough replied in his tweet. The "not well" trope became the dominant media talking point in response to this and a few other tweets.
The media dismissed the president's inference about the July 2001 death of a 28-year-old staffer named Lori Klausutis in Scarborough's Florida congressional office as an unfounded "conspiracy theory" not worth investigating.
As recently as 2011, however, the media were not nearly that dismissive. Those paying attention knew there was one major problem with the resolution of Klausutis's untimely death-the medical examiner who performed the autopsy, a Kansas City exile named Dr. Michael berkland.
What interested the left-leaning media in 2011 was that Scarborough, a Republican at the time, was thinking of leaving his post at MSNBC's "Morning Joe" and running again for congress. This made him a target. "If 'Morning Joe' does wind up on a ballot somewhere," wrote Roger Shuler of the Daily Kos, "voters might want to keep this question in mind: Was a young woman once murdered in Joe Scarborough's office?"
berkland's history made Shuler's question worth consideration. In his autopsy, berkland determined that Klausutis, alone in the office at the time, fainted as the result of an undiagnosed cardiac arrhythmia and hit her head on a desk. His autopsy report all but ended the official investigation into Klausutis's death.
As Shuler knew, berkland had left Kansas City under a cloud. Wrote the Kansas City Star in 2012, "berkland was fired in 1996 as a contract medical examiner in Jackson County in a dispute over his caseload and autopsy reports. Investigators found eight undissected brains when they reviewed files and specimens handled by berkland, indicating he had fabricated autopsy results, authorities said." (Italics added)
Shuler quoted the Pitch on berkland's continuing problems in Florida: "berkland claims he 'sectioned' Klausutis' brain during her autopsy to determine that her head was injured by a fall, not by a blow from a weapon. But that's the same sort of claim that got berkland run out of Kansas City in 1996, after he'd falsely reported that he'd sectioned brains later found whole by his boss."
Again according to the Star, berkland was fired from the Pensacola medical examiner's office in 2003 "for not completing autopsy reports." At the time, the State of Florida also withdrew his license to serve as a medical examiner.
The Star was reporting on berkland in 2012 for another problem altogether. The opening sentence pretty much tells the story, "A former medical examiner who was fired by Jackson County more than a decade ago has been arrested in Florida and charged with keeping human remains in a rented storage unit." berkland clearly had some problems.
So did the official investigation. According to an earlier report written by Jennifer Van Bergen at Truthout, there were any number of unresolved issues around the death of the young staffer.
* Among them was Scarborough's unexpected resignation from Congress six months after being re-elected and two months before the death. Divorced two years earlier, Scarborough cited the "wild rumors" about his sons as the reason.
* berkland, as reported above, had lost his license in Missouri for falsifying autopsies.
* berkland's supervisor had contributed thousands of dollars to Scarborough's election campaign.
* There were contradictory reports about whether there was a visible head injury.
* The report contained several inconsistencies. For one, Klausutis, a marathon runner, was said to have died of a cardiac arrhythmia.
* Unresolved too was whether the office was locked and the lights were on. One report claimed the door was locked and the lights were off Another said the door was unlocked and the lights were on.
"Is Joe Scarborough a murderer?" Shuler asked in conclusion. "We cannot reach a conclusive answer at this point. But the evidence strongly suggests that Lori Klausutis' death was the result of foul play, not an accident."
With Scarborough now an avowed enemy of the president, the Star will likely join the other media in shoving this case down the memory hole if for no other reason than to embarrass Trump. Their editors ought not. They have the inside track on berkland. Real journalists would at least look into it.

Spotlight on Joe Scarborough: Arrest Is Made In Case of Human Remains at Florida Storage Unit

A former medical examiner has been arrested on charges related to the discovery late last month of human remains at a storage unit in Pensacola, Florida.
Michael berkland faces a felony charge of improper storage of hazardous waste, a misdemeanor charge of nuisance injurious to public health, and driving with a suspended license.
We have yet to see any references in the mainstream press to the fact that berkland essentially closed the books on an investigation into the death of Lori Klausutis, who was found dead in summer 2001 in the office of then U.S. Representative Joe Scarborough. Now the host of MSNBC's Morning Joe, Scarborough largely has escaped scrutiny in the Klausutis case since berkland ruled her death an accident, stemming from a cardiac arrhythmia that caused her to fall and strike her head on a desk.
Scarborough has strong ties to Alabama. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama and is close to former GOP Governor Bob Riley and his son, Homewood attorney Rob Riley.
Several online news sources have raised questions about berkland's findings in the Klausuits case, saying they are not supported by relevant scientific literature. The recent grisly discovery at a Pensacola storage unit raise new questions about berkland's competence–and perhaps his sanity. From a report by Eric Heisig at The Pensacola News Journal:
Ten cardboard boxes stacked in the corner of the unit contained "numerous individual containers with . . . human remains stored in a liquid substance," according to an affidavit for berkland's arrest. Other containers were found in plastic garbage bags.
The Medical Examiner's Office has said the remains appear to be from private autopsies that berkland performed between 1997 and 2007 at funeral homes in Pensacola, Panama City, Fort Walton Beach and Tallahassee.
Just how disturbing is this story? Consider this report from Tom McLaughlin, of The Northwest Florida Daily News:
About half of the containers in which berkland stored human remains "consisted primarily of Ziploc style plastic sandwich boxes," according to a probable cause affidavit filed by Barry Brooke, chief investigator for the state attorney's office.
One sample, a human heart, was found in a Styrofoam drink cup purchased from the Dodge's Store in Fort Walton Beach

Both well and poorly preserved samples were stored primarily in formalin, Brooke's report said.
Formalin is used to preserve human tissue. It "is considered a hazardous material with special handling procedures," the affidavit said. It contains both formaldehyde and methyl alcohol.
Formaldehyde is classified as a hazardous material and a poison, "and is an inhalation hazard," the affidavit said. It also is a carcinogen, it added.
Methyl alcohol is considered flammable and presents a fire hazard, according to the affidavit.
Brooke reported that Jeff Martin, an investigator for the Medical Examiner's Office in Pensacola, removed about 10 gallons of used formalin from berkland's storage unit.

They deal with an overcharged state by dumping charged matter (solids). The early Histories still tell the tale of the birth of Venus in this way from Saturn.
Stars have cycles; 11 year, 88 year, 12k year. These cycles are dictated by the level of current supplied by the Interstellar berkland Currents and/or crossing the Galactic current sheet. We're at the end of the 12k cycle. Gas giants appear to be born from the overcharge of main sequence stars. The matter ejected from them coalesces in interstellar space. To wander nearby as brown dwarf partners to the parent star. Every 12k years spitting out their own rocky bodies. At some point, recaptured by the parent star to rejoin the family under the same filament, no longer brown dwarf stars.
This happened at the end of the last 12k year cycle with the Saturnian system. Then consisting of at least Earth, Mars and newborn Venus. Brown dwarf stars are nearly perfect habitats for the formation of early life. Transitioning back to the parent star can be rough. Global floods, earthquakes, orbital instability, interplanetary plasma discharges; death, destruction, extinction on a biblical scale. All early symbology around the globe agrees that this IS what happened.
Remember that this has, probably, happened to all the gas giants in our system. How many had developed life? Look at Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune. Littered with a cloud of rocky bodies ranging in size from small to quite large. If we survived, might they have as well? Might not have to look to another star for Neighbors…
One of our nearby stellar neighbors, Sirius, is a binary system. Sirius A is one of the brightest objects in the sky. Recently there was talk on the board about the behavior of this star (good luck finding photos or info now...); blocked out of Hubble shots. It had the appearance of undergoing a micronova. If one imagines the interstellar berkland Currents like spaghetti, noodles twisted like rope; individual systems getting a single noodle. Then splitting from the star to wrap the planets (meatballs). All scales. Straight up to intergalactic. The current that is causing Sirius to micronova is on it's way. Light got here, charge not far behind.
So, what does that mean? When Sol micronovas; bright photonic burst, full spectrum. Surface of the moon heated to glass(red glow). Earth's atmosphere will mitigate that some. Then, just like the Solar wind, every element of the periodic table leaving the sun in an expanding globe at around 400 kilometers a second. Once the globe expands past the sun's corona, darkness. Followed soon by a separation of matter, like a balloon popping. Then shining through the gaps. Gaps widening; blobs firming in shape. Within a few years there will be a cloud of these blobs expanded to nearly a light year across.
