Trump makes 15 new friends in Davos, three of Indian origin
Trump, who arrived here Thursday afternoon, told Schwab who on his part said the US President's strong leadership is open to misconceptions and biased interpretations that he has made "15 new friends" here in Davos.
US President Donald Trump on Friday declared before a full house at Davos that he has made "15 new friends" whom he did not know before at a dinner last night - including three of Indian origin. After a 'band' welcome and a nearly 20-minute speech, Trump sat down for a brief question and answers session with WEF Founder Klaus Schwab on the last day of the annual pow-wow of rich and powerful from across the 'fractured' world and began by complementing him for putting together this "really great" economic forum, reports PTI.
Trump, who arrived here Thursday afternoon, told Schwab - who on his part said the US President's strong leadership is open to misconceptions and biased interpretations - that he has made "15 new friends" here in Davos. "We had dinner last night with about 15 leaders of industry - none of whom I knew, but all of whom I have read about for years - and it was truly an incredible group," Trump said.
"And I think I have 15 new friends. So this has been really great what you have done in putting it together, the economic forum," he said. These 15 industry leaders from Europe - whom Trump described as "very powerful businesspeople of the world" and asked them to introduce themselves one by one and say a few words at the dinner table, as per a White House release -included Swiss pharma giant Novartis' incoming CEO Vas Narasimhan, Nokia CEO Rajeev Suri and Deloitte CEO Punit Renjen.
Others were heads of Bayer, Anheuser-Busch InBev, Siemens, AB Volvo, SAP, Adidas, Statoil, Nestle, ABB and HSBC. At the dinner, Renjen said, "Mr President, thank you for having me. Punit Renjen from Deloitte. On behalf of 265,000 employees across the globe, 70,000 in the US, thank you again for having us".
As per the White House release, Trump replied, "Great company. Thank you very much. Great job." Suri said Nokia runs the world's second largest telecom network and has 15,000 people in the US and one of its strongest R&D setups in the world is spread throughout the US.
He further said, "We have half of the acquisition of alcatel-Lucent. We own Nokia Bell Labs, which is in New Jersey. We do a lot of stuff in the West Coast, in Chicago, and throughout the country, really. So just under half of our people do research and development, and the rest are doing services and 4G networks and 5G. So I'm very happy and pleased with your infrastructure focus..."
Narasimhan said Novartis is one of the largest health care companies in the world and its focus is on innovative medicines, generics, as well as eye care. He elaborated that Novartis has about 22,000 employees in the US across 21 sites and invests about USD 14 billion every year in the US, including USD 3.5 billion in research.
Further, he described US as one of the key markets and also key places where it drives innovation. "And we are really pleased with the tax reform, but also very pleased with the great progress being made at FDA. We believe you have a great leadership team there and they are doing all the right things to accelerate innovation," he said.
Trump replied, "Scott is great, and Alex is great. You know, Alex is just starting, and he's highly respected. So that's fantastic. Scott Gottlieb, as you know, is a star," referring to his FDA Commissioner and Health and Human Services Secretary, respectively. Narasimhan said further, "He (Scott) is a star. And I think his vision for tobacco and trying to improve - reduce the use of tobacco around the world is also very inspiring."
After everyone's introduction, Trump said, "I want to thank everybody. Really, you have done incredible work, incredible jobs. These are some of the great companies of the world, many of the great companies of the world".

Former Mexican Cop Sent to U.S. Prison for Child Rape Captured on Video
A former Mexican police officer will spend 30 years in prison for having a series of videos and photographs where he sexually assaulted a young girl. Authorities in the U.S. discovered the videos inside a cell phone when the police officer tried to cross into Texas through a port of entry.
This week, 38-year-old Jose Alfredo Fernandez-Martinez, went before U.S. District Judge Rolando Olvera in the Southern District of Texas. The judge sentenced the former Mexican police officer to 360 months in prison, ordered him to register as a sex offender, and ordered him to follow a series of restrictions used for child predators. Fernandez pleaded guilty in August to producing child pornography by sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl for more than five months.
According to a prepared statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Fernandez served as a police officer in Mexico. It remains unclear which agency he worked for.
The case against Fernandez began in January, when he walked across one of the international ports of entry in Brownsville, Texas, a criminal complaint filed by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations revealed. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer at the bridge sent Fernandez to a secondary inspection where they went through his alcatel phone and found a video that showed him sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl. The CBP officers at the bridge called agents from ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) who investigated the case. Federal authorities found five videos that Fernandez recorded with the victim. They also found 141 videos and 82 pictures of child pornography.

10. Microsoft Corp
Headquarters: Redmond, Washington
Bought By: FIH Mobile Ltd, HMD Global
Headquarters: Tucheng District, New Taipei
Today, Microsoft Corp is a gargantuan business with several different focuses. However, back in 2016, the company decided to ditch the entry-level feature phone side of its production to FIH Mobile Ltd. The deal brought in $350 million, which is still a relatively small change to Microsoft.
Instead of cutting jobs, all 4,500 Microsoft employees were given the opportunity to transfer to join FIH in the new direction of the business. Microsoft continued to develop other mobile phones though, including the Lumia line and other existing projects as well as partnerships with brands like Acer and alcatel.
With a company as big as Microsoft, there are always new technologies and new ways to diversify the business to create a broader reach. Microsoft knows this better than anyone else, which is probably why it wasn't too worried about parting ways with this particular division.

8. Tesla

Bought By: Tencent Holdings Ltd
Headquarters: Shenzhen, China
Elon Musk might be the brains behind Tesla and the majority shareholder with 21.7%, but he isn't the only one pumping money into the automotive company. There are plenty of shareholders, including Tencent Holdings Ltd. Tencent isn't just into music, but a variety of things.
Tesla ?Hadrian / Shutterstoc.com Tesla ?Hadrian / Shutterstoc.com
Tencent is the world's largest video game company and one of the largest social media companies, making it a force to be reckoned with. In 2019, it had a net income of $95.8 billion, so whatever they're doing, they're doing it right. At the moment, the company is still on the up and up.
As for Tesla, the brand is more than just a luxury car manufacturer. The success of the company arguably gave Musk the capital he needed to launch his other projects, including SpaceX. When it comes to technology, we have a lot to thank Tesla for.
9. Snapchat
Headquarters: Venice, Los Angeles
Bought By: Tencent Holdings Ltd
Headquarters: Shenzhen, China
Taking a picture with a silly filter has never been so popular thanks to Snapchat. The company was founded by Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy in 2011, but neither one would have realized how popular it would become. At the moment, Snapchat is valued at over $20 billion.
Snapchat ?dennizn / Shutterstock.com Snapchat ?dennizn / Shutterstock.com
Back in 2017, Tencent extended its reach to Snapchat, too. The tech giant poured in over $2 billion for a 10% stake in the company, hoping to see a tidy return from its investment. On the flip side, Tencent used its tech expertise to develop the augmented reality Snapchat uses even further.
With the rise in other apps like TikTok, Snapchat isn't quite as popular as it once was. That doesn't mean that it isn't still a jewel in Tencent's crown though, given how many people have the app on their phones.

11. Hilton Hotels

Bought By: HNA Group Co Ltd
Headquarters: Haikou, China
Hilton Hotels & Resorts has been operating since 1919 thanks to founder Conrad "Nicky" Hilton. From a handful of simple locations, Hilton became a worldwide name with 586 hotels in 85 countries by 2018. Today, Hilton hotels are all over the world.
Hilton Hotels ?Dace Kundrate / Shutterstock.com Hilton Hotels ?Dace Kundrate / Shutterstock.com
In 2016, China's aviation and shipping titan HNA Group paid $6.5 billion for a 25% stake in the hospitality chain, becoming the biggest shareholder. This was the second purchase that year for HNA who also bought Carlson Hotels Inc. in a bid to spread its wings into the hotel industry. At the time of the purchase, Hilton Hilton was worth around $26 billion.
While 25% isn't 100%, it certainly makes a difference. Hilton will always remain a distinctly American brand thanks to pop culture history, but does it make a difference to guests to know the business isn't rooted in Uncle Sam anymore? The jury's out on that one.

https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/pacific-island-of-nauru-considers-submarine-cable-to-australia-after-rejecting-chinese-bid/
Nauru is negotiating with Australia over a submarine cable that would connect to the Coral Sea Cable system.
The Pacific island was originally set to be connected by the East Micronesia Cable (EMC), but the project was scrapped due to US pressure.
The original World Bank-funded EMC would have connected Nauru, Kiribati, and the Federated States of Micronesia. From there, it would have linked up to the HANTRU-1 submarine cable, which was funded by the US Army and connects the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site in the Kwajalein atoll to Guam.
But with Chinese cable company HMN Technologies (formerly Huawei Marine Networks) the lowest bidder for the contract, US officials grew concerned about the national security risk.
Now, Nauru hopes to find another route to connecting its population of 12,581. Reuters reports that the country is considering laying a cable from Nauru to the Solomon Islands capital of Honiara. From there, it would connect to the Coral Sea Cable system.
That line was majority funded by the Australian government and deployed by Vocus Group and alcatel Submarine Networks.
Australia funded that cable to again stop Huawei Marine from winning any of the contract.

ATT formerly Lucent Technologies
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucent
Lucent Technologies, Inc., was an American multinational telecommunications equipment company headquartered in Murray Hill, New Jersey, in the United States. It was established on September 30, 1996, through the divestiture of the former AT&T Technologies business unit of AT&T Corporation, which included Western Electric and Bell Labs.[1]
Lucent was merged with alcatel SA of France on December 1, 2006, forming alcatel-Lucent.[2] alcatel-Lucent was absorbed by Nokia in January 2016.
Lucent advert for Inferno in IEEE Internet Computing, Volume 1, Number 2, March-April 1997
==Lucent means "light-bearing" in Latin.[3] The name was applied in 1996 at the time of the split from AT&T.
The name was widely criticised, as the logo was to be, both internally and externally. Corporate communications and business cards included the strapline 'Bell Labs Innovations' in a bid to retain the prestige of the internationally famous research lab, within a new business under an as-yet unknown name.[4]
This same linguistic root also gives Lucifer, "the light bearer" (from lux, 'light', and ferre, 'to bear'[5]), who is also a character in Dante's epic poem Inferno. Shortly after the Lucent renaming in 1996, Lucent's Plan 9 project released a development of their work as the Inferno OS in 1997.[4][6] This extended the 'Lucifer' and Dante references as a series of punning names for the components of Inferno - Dis, Limbo, Charon and Styx (9P Protocol). When the rights to Inferno were sold in 2000, the company Vita Nuova Holdings was formed to represent them. This continues the Dante theme, although moving away from his Divine Comedy to the poem La Vita Nuova.==
Logo
The Lucent logo, the Innovation Ring,[7] was designed by Landor Associates, a prominent San Francisco-based branding consultancy. One source inside Lucent says that the logo is a Zen Buddhist symbol for "eternal truth", the Enso, turned 90 degrees and modified. Another source says it represents the mythic ouroboros, a snake holding its tail in its mouth. Lucent's logo also has been said to represent constant re-creating and re-thinking.[8][9] Carly Fiorina picked the logo because her mother was a painter and she rejected the sterile geometric logos of most high tech companies.[10]
After the logo was compared in the media to the ring a coffee mug leaves on paper, a Dilbert comic strip showed Dogbert as an overpaid consultant designing a new company logo; he takes a piece of paper that his coffee cup was sitting on and calls it the "Brown Ring of Quality".[11] A telecommunication commentator referred to the logo as "a big red zero" and predicted financial losses.[12]

China accused of planning to exploit undersea cable networks to spy on other countries, report says
China is supporting private investment in underwater cable projects in the Pacific to spy on other nations and steal data from them, according to reports.
Newsweek reported a spokesperson for Taiwan's Foreign Ministry who claimed on Friday that China was planning to "monopolize" communication networks in the Pacific to steal valuable data from its rivals.
The report comes a day after a Reuters investigation found that US government officials had warned Pacific island nations against awarding underwater cable contracts to Chinese state-linked firms.
These contracts are related to the Kiribati Connectivity Project (KCP), which was designed in 2017 to improve communications to the island nations of Nauru, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), and Kiribati.
Bidders included Japan's NEC, Finland's Nokia, French-headquartered alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN), and Huawei Marine, which was recently divested from Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and is now majority-owned by another Chinese firm.
According to the Reuters report, Washington officials claim the Chinese-government backed companies are undercutting their international competitors to gain access to cable contracts in the region to expand their influence.
As part of the project, the cables will connect to a network called HNATRU-1, which serves Guam - a US Pacific territory strategically located close to China, North Korea, and the rest of East Asia. It is the headquarters of the 7th Fleet's Navy Expeditionary Forces Command Pacific.
The $72.6 million project is backed by the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
In response to the accusation, a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry told Reuters that the United States was attempting to smear Chinese companies.
The reports come several months after Google and Facebook withdrew their plans to connect LA and Hong Kong with an 8,000-mile internet broadband cable to boost internet speed and capacity.
The decision was made after a US Department of Justice committee formally recommended that the Hong Kong part of the network be axed on national security grounds in July.
It was the first time such a cable was rejected on national security grounds and was a sign of the growing tension between the US and China.
Entire countries could be taken offline
There are more than 350 undersea cables around the world, which span a length of over 1.2 million kilometers (745,645 miles) and carry telecommunication signals.
Most lines are owned by private telecommunications companies, including tech giants like Google and Microsoft. Their locations, built up over the decades, can be easily identified on public maps.
Despite their importance, little is being done to guard and protect these deep-sea cables.
Cybersecurity experts previously told Insider in 2018 that it's only "a matter of time" before hackers could access the cables and threaten to take entire countries offline.

Chile picks Japan's trans-Pacific cable route in snub to China
Chile has chosen a route proposed by Japan for the first fiber-optic cable to directly connect South America and the Asia-Pacific, designating Australia and New Zealand as endpoints while stopping short of landing in China, Nikkei has learned. Japan's route beat out a pitch by China that would have made Shanghai the final landing point. This decision comes amid a U.S. pressure campaign to keep China out of global telecommunication projects.
Under the Japanese proposal, the undersea fiber-optic cable would stretch roughly 13,000 km across the Pacific Ocean, pass through New Zealand then arrive at its terminus in Sydney. The Chilean government says this route is the highly recommended based on cost and feasibility. Japan and Australia just completed their own submarine cable linking the two countries this month, meaning Japan could easily connect to the trans-Pacific cable. Both Australia and New Zealand share deep ties with Chile through the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the trade deal that Japan has pushed for.
The Japanese proposal to Chile took into account Australia's hard-line position against China, exemplified by Canberra's decision to blacklist China's Huawei Technologies from its 5G infrastructure. Chile was caught in the geopolitical crossfire as China, its largest trading partner, lobbied heavily for cable plan to have Shanghai as its terminus. When Chilean President Sebastian Pinera visited Beijing in April last year, Huawei pledged to invest in data centers in Chile. Huawei initially emerged as the leading candidate for the undersea cable. But the South American country was unable to ignore U.S. intentions in diplomacy and trade. Right before Pinera's China visit, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Chile and accused Huawei of being controlled by the Chinese government, which would put Chileans at risk.
This June, the U.S. Justice Department released a filing recommending that a separate Pacific undersea cable backed by Google and Facebook should bypass Hong Kong. The document cited the risk of Chinese authorities collecting sensitive data. Undersea cables carry 95% of international communications, including internet data. With the advent of smart devices and 5G communications, expanding the capacity of the optical cables has become a pressing issue. Gloria Hutt, Chile's transportation and telecommunications minister, has said her objective is to transform Chile into South America's digital hub. The government is expected to release the final technological report this fall. A dedicated fund for the project will be established as soon as the end of the year.
Contracting bids are slated to be conducted next year, with the scale of the initial investments estimated to be $500 million. With Chile adopting Japan's route for the cable, Japanese companies will have an edge in winning contracts for supplying equipment. In the event that Japanese companies do win contracts, Tokyo plans to invest in and extend financing to the special purpose vehicle through the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and the Japan ICT Fund.
Japan's NEC is one of the top three suppliers for undersea cables, along with U.S.-based Subcom and France's alcatel Submarine Networks. NEC recently completed a trans-Atlantic cable between Angola and Brazil.
Huawei, which had originally concentrated on short-distance cables, has expanded in recent years to undersea cables connecting Africa and Latin America. The company announced last June that it will sell its undersea cable assets, but the business will likely continue under the auspices of another Chinese telecom giant.

We were told to be vigilant. We also know they are stomping on secure comms, which are 2 way. What about 1 way dispensing of orders?
This autoplayed on my YouTube while I was sleeping and woke me up. Weirdest shit I've ever seen. These are "meditation" videos that have a simple 1-2 phrase repetition over and over again, on a loop. With the Closed Captioning on, you would expect the same thing over and over again (or at least close), but this goes on for an hour. It talks about Alice, Al-Qaeda, terrorism, Allah, Delta Force, Something called Blue Sabsi, and two different spellings of Susie/Suzie the Turtle. It also mentions, by name, alcatel-Lucent.
It also alludes to a target that is unable/hasn't been worshipping our god, implying that perhaps some weakness is created (stay at home orders/no church?) which offers an opportunity.
It could be nothing, but can someone else verify what the hell? Spoopy as fuck. What better way to send a one-way message or disseminate orders than manipulated closed captions for a video on an obscure YT channel? Doubtful any monitoring system (NSA, etc) would pick it up.

China's BlackBerry maker stops making BlackBerry phones this year
TCL says licensing deal with BlackBerry expires after August
They were once must-have devices for Wall Street executives and Kim Kardashian West. Now the future of BlackBerry phones is in doubt after Chinese manufacturer TCL announced
it will no longer design, build or sell new BlackBerry mobile devices after this coming August.
BlackBerry stopped designing and selling its own phones in 2016 after seeing its popularity plunge once Apple's iPhone changed smartphones forever. It licensed the brand to Huizhou-based TCL, the electronics giant that also makes alcatel handsets. TCL says the licensing deal with BlackBerry is coming to an end this year, but it will continue to provide customer support and warranty services for device owners until August 2022.

Article from 2014 Pic caption
Staff and visitors walk pass the lobby at the Huawei office in Wuhan, China.
Snowden, Huawei, Wuhan
THE NSA'S GLOBAL spy operation may seem unstoppable, but there's at least one target that has proven to be a formidable obstacle: the Chinese communications technology firm Huawei, whose growth could threaten the agency's much-publicized digital spying powers.
An unfamiliar name to American consumers, Huawei produces products that are swiftly being installed in the internet backbone in many regions of the world, displacing some of the western-built equipment that the NSA knows - and presumably knows how to exploit - so well.
That obstacle is growing bigger each year as routers and other networking equipment made by Huawei Technologies and its offshoot, Huawei Marine Networks, become more ubiquitous. The NSA and other U.S. agencies have long been concerned that the Chinese government or military - Huawei's founder is a former officer in the People's Liberation Army - may have installed backdoors in Huawei equipment, enabling it for surveillance. But an even bigger concern is that with the growing ubiquity of Huawei products, the NSA's own surveillance network could grow dark in areas where the equipment is used.
For that reason, as the latest Snowden revelations showed last week, the spy agency reportedly hacked Huawei as part of an operation launched in 2007. The plan involved stealing source code for some of Huawei's products in the hope of finding vulnerabilities. Such security holes could allow the NSA to exploit the products and spy on traffic in countries where Huawei equipment is used - such as Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kenya, and Cuba.
"Many of our targets communicate over Huawei-produced products," an internal NSA document obtained by Snowden noted in 2010, according to the New York Times. "We want to make sure that we know how to exploit these products … to gain access to networks of interest" around the world.
The spies might also have been seeking access to Huawei routers through management consoles operated by Huawei support staff, giving them privileged access to customer systems.
Just how widely used are Huawei products?
The concerns about Chinese government influence over Huawei have kept the company's products out of the North American market for the most part, as well as some other western markets. But because of price-cutting, Huawei has become popular in parts of Latin America and the Middle East and is currently the leader in the world's $13-billion-a-year market for fiber optical networking equipment, having surpassed alcatel-Lucent and other companies.
The optical market includes all networking equipment, minus the cables, used for communicating over land-based optic and ethernet networks - this includes switches, repeaters that amplify the signal strength on long-haul transmissions, and landing-station equipment installed where undersea cables come ashore.
The company pulled in about $3 billion last year in that market, primarily in Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, according to technology research firm IDC.
Even more important, Huawei is also the fourth-largest provider of backbone routers, according to IDC, after Cisco, alcatel-Lucent, and Juniper Networks.
Huawei produces a variety of routers for home and small businesses and for connecting cell phone sites on mobile networks. The overall router market in 2013 was about $14 billion. Cisco grabbed about 60 percent of that market share, while Huawei had $1.3 billion last year. That's just 10 percent of the total market, but the company's growth in this area has been steady. In 2011, the company sold about 35,000 routers worldwide. That increased to 49,000 in 2012 and 54,000 last year.
The biggest growth in router revenue, however, has come primarily from its sale of 400G routers used for the internet backbone.
"They're making inroads into what Cisco and Juniper had, [which was] 97 percent of that market up until three years ago," says Nav Chander, research manager for telecom business services and associated carrier network infrastructure for IDC's Worldwide Telecom Division. "Huawei is displacing Cisco and Juniper in other regions outside of the U.S."
Customers that signed router contracts with Huawei last year for packages that contained 400G routers include top telecoms in a number of countries, including Swisscom in Switzerland and DNA in Finland, Saudi Telecom Company and MTN Group's operations in Africa and the Middle East, Telkom in South Africa, America Movil in Ecuador and Brazil, Telefonica's operations in Brazil, and Entel in Chile.

Alphabet Inc's Google on Friday announced a new subsea cable dubbed "Equiano" that will connect Africa with Europe, as it boosts its cloud computing infrastructure.
Equiano, fully funded by Google, is the company's third private international cable.
The search engine giant, which has invested $47 billion in improving its global technology infrastructure over the last three years, said Equiano is the company's 14th subsea cable investment globally.
"Equiano will be the first subsea cable to incorporate optical switching at the fiber-pair level, rather than the traditional approach of wavelength-level switching," Google said in a blog post.
Google said a contract to build the cable with alcatel Submarine Networks was signed in the fourth quarter of 2018, and the first phase of the project, connecting South Africa with Portugal, is expected to be completed in 2021.

Main Players in Natixis's H2O, a Europe Fund Misadventure Redux
The latest turmoil in European finance is swirling around H2O Asset Management, a London-based firm that boomed since its founding almost a decade ago with the backing of French investment bank Natixis SA.
H2O's funds hemorrhaged billions over four days amid gathering concern over investments in illiquid bonds tied to a controversial German financier. The asset manager is fighting back, aiming to assure investors it can meet redemptions. There were signs of some stabilization after the fund on Wednesday reported that withdrawals "markedly subsided."

H2O to Dump Toxic Debt in New Fund After $7 Billion Hit
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-06-26/after-7-billion-flees-h20-plans-to-bury-toxic-debt-in-new-fund
continued
Here are the main people involved in the saga, which has punished Natixis's stock:
Lars Windhorst:
H2O's relationship with Windhorst is at the core of the matter. The 42-year-old was a wunderkind of German finance in the 1990s, but later filed for bankruptcy. He bounced back with a company now called Tennor Holding, whose most well-known investment is the La Perla lingerie brand. The firm came to rely on private bond placements to raise money rather than conventional bank financing, and H2O has emerged as among the biggest buyers of this debt.
H2O's crisis kicked off when Morningstar Inc. put H2O's rating under review, citing concerns about the "liquidity and appropriateness" of some corporate-bond holdings. While Morningstar didn't specifically mention Windhorst, H2O has defended the relationship, calling him "a reliable business partner." It has also had to sell some Windhorst-linked debt.
'''morningstar Chair has been selling shares like a drunken sailor at port
https://www.secform4.com/insider-trading/1324069.htm
Bruno Crastes
Crastes runs H2O, and worked for years at Credit Agricole Asset Management, presiding over a boom in alternative, absolute-return funds in the early 2000s. In 2009, as chief investment officer for the U.K., he correctly predicted the euro would weaken from historic highs, though it didn't quite make it to parity with the dollar as he forecast.
Francois Riahi
Riahi, a 46-year-old product of France's elite ENA school with deep roots in government, didn't have much of a honeymoon as Natixis's CEO. H2O isn't the only headache since he took the reins last June; in the fourth quarter of 2018, a push into complex derivatives in Korea known as autocallables went sour, losing almost $300 million, people familiar with the matter said at the time. Riahi's previous roles included overseeing Natixis's expansion in Asia and working at Groupe BPCE, the bank's parent company.
Jean Raby
The Canadian, Harvard-educated lawyer oversees Natixis's investment-management activities globally, and is knee-deep in the efforts at damage control. He has spent the bulk of his career in Paris, where he worked in Goldman Sachs Group Inc.'s office. Raby, 53, joined Natixis in 2017 after a stint as alcatel-Lucent's finance chief, replacing Pierre Servant. The division he oversees includes a series of well-known autonomous boutiques besides H2O, such as Harris Associates and Loomis Sayles in the U.S.
Laurent Mignon
Mignon, 55, was Riahi's predecessor as Natixis CEO, spending a decade in the role; he now serves as chairman, as well as head of Groupe BPCE – a sprawling network of cooperative retail banks. Credited with helping salvage Natixis after the financial crisis, Mignon oversaw initiatives including the growing push into asset management.

Transmission is tower to tower across the earth. Satellite dishes are not angled to space are they? 'Nearly' all data is transmitted under the sea along cables.
2015 article:
https://theconversation.com/in-our-wi-fi-world-the-internet-still-depends-on-undersea-cables-49936
'Recently a digital blackout in Tonga - caused by the severing of the country's only undersea cable - generated widespread recognition of the submerged systems our connected world depends upon.
Not many people realize that undersea cables transport nearly 100 percent of transoceanic data traffic. These lines are laid on the very bottom of the ocean floor. They're about as thick as a garden hose and carry the world's internet, phone calls and even TV transmissions between continents at the speed of light. A single cable can carry tens of terabits of information per second.
While researching my book "The Undersea Network," I realized that the cables we all rely on to send everything from email to banking information across the seas remain largely unregulated and undefended. Although they are laid by only a few companies - including the American company SubCom and the French company alcatel-Lucent - and often funneled along narrow paths, the ocean's vastness has often provided them protection. When one is broken, as the Tonga cable was this week, data traffic comes to a halt…'

U.S. existing home sales surge, boosted by Fed's signal on rates
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. home sales surged in February to their highest level in 11 months, a sign that a pause in interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve was starting to boost the U.S. economy.
The National Association of Realtors said on Friday existing home sales jumped 11.8 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.51 million units last month.
That was the highest since March 2018 and well above analysts' expectations of a rate of 5.1 million units. The one-month percentage change was the largest since December 2015. January's sales pace was revised slightly lower.

Sick! Thanks! I think I found where cellular-news link moved to!

- Major United States players include:
Cabot Corporation, Boston, MA
OM Group, Cleveland, Ohio
AVX, Myrtle Beach, SC
Eagle Wings Resources International, Ohio
Trinitech International, Ohio
Kemet Electronics Corporation, Greenville, SC
Vishay Sprague. Malvern, PA
Corporations from other countries have been a part of the coltan exploitation chain. These companies include but are not limited to Germany's HC Starc and EPCOS, China's Nigncxia, and Belgium's George Forrest International.
Once the coltan is processed and converted to capacitors, it is then sold to companies such as Nokia, Motorola, Compaq, alcatel, Dell, Hewlett-Packard , IBM, Lucent, Ericsson and Sony for use in a wide assortment of everyday products ranging from cell phones to computer chips and game consoles.
-"Foreign Corporate exploitation
Although the countries mentioned above directly exploit coltan, foreign multi-national corporations have been deeply involved in the exploitation of coltan in the Congo. The coltan mined by rebels and foreign forces is sold to foreign corporations. Although, the United Nations in its reports on the Congo do not directly blame the multi-national corporations for the conflict in the Congo, the United Nations does say that these companies serve as "the engine of the conflict in the DRC."
-"Who are the primary exploiters of Coltan in the Congo?
Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi and their proxy militias are the primary exploiters of coltan in the Congo. In an 18 month period Rwanda made $250 million as a result of exploitation of coltan in the Congo. Although Rwanda and Uganda possess little or no coltan, during the period of the war in the Congo, their exports escalated exponentially. For example, Rwanda's coltan export went from less than 50 tons in 1995 to almost 250 tons in 1998. Zero cassiterite was transported from the Congo to Uganda in 1998, however by 2000 151 drums were transported.
The United Nations notes in its 2001 report on the Illegal Exploitation of Natural Resources in the congo that "The consequences of illegal exploitation has been twofold: (a)massive availability of financial resources for the Rwandan Patriotic Army, and the individual enrichment of top Ugandan military commanders and civilians; (b) the emergence of of illegal networks headed by either top military officers or businessmen."

Chairman of BILDERBERGER STEERING COMMITTEE (2012 - present)
Big financial career, Minister of Tresury in France and now steering committee of Bilderberger.
Bet he is also worth a dig!
Henri de La Croix de Castries (born 15 August 1954) is a French businessman. He was chairman and CEO of AXA until retiring from both roles on 1 September 2016.
…
From 1980 to 1984, he audited on the behalf of the Minister of Finances of France, and in 1984 he became a member of the French Treasury.[1] In 1986, he participated in the privatisation initiated by Jacques Chirac's government, including Compagnie Générale d'Electricité, now known as alcatel-Lucent, and TF1, both on the CAC 40.[1]
He started his career at AXA in 1989, when he joined the central financial direction. In 1991, he was appointed general secretary, in charge of restructurations and mergers (integration of Compagnie du Midi). He was appointed general director in 1993, in charge of North America and UK in 1994, and in charge of the merger and integration with Union des send assurances de Paris (UAP) in 1996. He served as President of the Board of Equitable (which became AXA Financial) in 1997, and has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2000.[4][5]
In March 2016, it was announced that he would retire from both chairman and CEO roles at AXA on 1 September.[6]
…
He lives on the Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris, and his brother-in-law lives in the same building.[1] He spends his weekends in a castle in Anjou, and one week a month in the United States.[1] He is married and has three children.[1]

I may have purchased 666 Fifth ave, but hasn't anyone read Daniel 7:20? Do I look stout to you? That theory is humorous, but distracting. I wonder who started it? Why was the building bought? Security? Surveillance? Think strategy.
Keep digging. Why would they want to stop the further development of the building? What is the history, who was involved?
Lucent is not an important reason as to why we bought the building, however, there was a purpose. Concerning that partner, MSM shifted the blame. Narrative. We found out that the lithium batteries that malfunctioned while being in contact with skin, caused a sore that would blister. (Rev 16:2) This information got into the wrong hands, so Serge and Russo stepped down. Why is this important? Who's hands? These specific chips were not going to be for the public, only the elite at first. Privilege. Then the masses would beg for it. Sick!
Here is what you're looking for, look people who are connected to both Lucis Trust, and Lucent Technologies, and you'll have your answer.

UB went public in 1983. It was bought by Tandem Computers in 1988.[7] UB was sold in 1997 by Tandem to Newbridge Networks. Over the next several months, Newbridge laid off the bulk of the Ungermann-Bass employees, and closed the doors of the Santa Clara operation. Newbridge was later acquired by alcatel, a French telecommunications company.

Q Research General #1044: Almost Easter Edition
666 5th Avenue : QRD
Yesterday afternoon and last night, anon posted on the general that they were the person who had bought 666 5th Avenue NY.
We all know that it was Jared Kushner who bought the building.
See this initial post: >>836978
Anon proceeded to post a series of crumbs, pointing to The Lucent Trust, Lucent Technologies, the Lucent-alcatel merger and how it was bought over by Nokia.
The plan, apparently, if Hillary won, was to chip all humans with The Mark of The Beast as in Revelations. The elite would be first, then the masses would beg for it. Quote: "Evil!"
He mentioned RFID chips and 5G technology, and asked why JK would have purchased the building. Strategy?
Apparently, the building is both symbolic and enjoys a special position where other important / iconic nearby buildings can be seen. The restaurant at the top, 'All The Sixes', apparently was the place where a deal or deals took place, which were also recorded.
We dig on.

Having connection problems. Hopefully not a repost.
First, check out this page that details all the spinoffs for Lucent.
http:// www.cost-basis-charts.com/lucent-basis-chart.html
Essentially, it was spun off from AT&T in '96, went through a couple more spin-offs in 2001 and 2002, before being acquired by alcatel in November of 2006.
Here's where it gets interesting.
In January 2006, the Electronic Frontier Foundation sued AT&T for allowing the NSA to spy on its customers without a warrant. Huge case, went through a bunch of appeals.
The US wanted to invoke the state secrets privilege to get it dismissed, and they tried, but before they needed to, in 2008, Congress passed the FISA Amendments Act (what a coincidence!) that gave AT&T retroactive immunity.
https:// en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hepting_v._AT%26T
Meanwhile, Lucent had already been sold off to alcatel in France in 2006, about a year after the Hepting lawsuit began. Lucent had lost most of it's $250BN market cap in 2000 when it became embroiled in a huge accounting scandal (think WorldCom, Enron, etc). So it limped along until alcatel bought it.
http:// archive.fortune.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2003/07/07/345538/index.htm
Guess who oversaw the Lucent IPO when it was spun off from AT&T? CARLY FIORINA. She'd worked at AT&T for 20 years by that point and was close with this woman Aversano, who ran the accounting department and was one of the people who got fined by the SEC during the accounting scandal.
Carly Fiorina ran a failed CA Senate bid a little after the Hepting case and the alcatel-Lucent merger. She ran into a little controversy after pushing a deal for a company called PathNet, which, if it's this company, is important for creating Artificial General Intelligence (an AI that can essentially handle a variety of tasks, not just playing chess, for instance). How coincidental.
https:// mobile.nytimes.com/2015/09/22/business/dealbook/the-influence-of-fiorina-at-lucent-in-hindsight.html
https:// deepmind.com/research/publications/pathnet-evolution-channels-gradient-descent-super-neural-networks/
So, whatever happened to alcatel-Lucent? Oh, they just got rolled up into a little company called Nokia in 2016, where I'm sure any and all 5G technology is hard at work.
https:// www.wsj.com/articles/nokia-alcatel-lucent-set-to-put-merger-to-work-1451896364
Way too many coincidences here. Not sure what it leads to, though.

Lucent origin and history to current day. Now part of Nokia but called Bell Labs once again.
"Significant changes occurred in 1984 when, as a consequence of a divestiture agreement with the U.S. Government, AT&T Corporation divested itself of its local exchange companies and the Bell System as it was known ceased to exist. As part of the divestiture agreement, AT&T Technologies assumed the business of Western Electric and Bell Laboratories. Concurrently, several thousand Bell Laboratories employees were split off to form Bellcore, the organization established to provide research and technical functions for the newly independent local exchange carriers.
In 1996, AT&T spun off most of Bell Laboratories and its equipment manufacturing business into Lucent Technologies, Inc. (AT&T retained a smaller number of researchers to form AT&T Laboratories.) As part of this transition, most development departments were integrated into the business divisions of Lucent Technologies in order to more effectively manage the business in what was now a competitive market. The research functions remained within Bell Laboratories. In 2007, a year after the merger of Lucent Technologies and alcatel (forming alcatel-Lucent), Bell Laboratories and the former Research and Innovations division of alcatel were combined into a single organization.
2016 brought yet another consolidation, as Nokia acquired alcatel-Lucent to create a new Nokia. Bell Labs and the former Nokia FutureWorks organization joined forces to create a larger Bell Labs, spanning more countries, yet retaining the same mission throughout its 90+ year history, to solve the great 10x industry challenges and produce disruptive innovations that improve the quality of life."

Fuck off nigger
In 2006, Lucent Technologies, once an elite American technology company whose stock price had risen to $84, creating a market value of $258 billion, barely avoided bankruptcy by selling out to alcatel, a second-tier French telecommunications company.
In a short ten years, Lucent crashed from being the profitable sole-source AT&T R&D subsidiary to a failing independent company. Employees were shed by the thousands, dropping from 106,000 to fewer than 35,000. Over 70,000 American jobs disappeared from the company. Large chunks were sold off at bargain prices for cash. Others were shut down to lessen an overwhelming negative cash flow.
In only six years its stock price rose from $7.56 per share to a high of $84 after multiple stock splits, and then crashed to a 2002 low of 56 cents. Lucent's market value dropped to less than $2 billion, not enough to meet two month's payroll expense. Individuals' company 401Ks sank to near worthlessness (divided by twelve). Retirees had to go back to work. Unexercised stock options became wallpaper.
How could a large successful American company with such powerful fundamental research and technology disintegrate so quickly? And how could Wall Street pundits not see it coming?
Lucent's story exposes a national affliction destroying America's future. It speaks to the contemporary American world, a harbinger of many other company futures. Perhaps the global future.
No analysis to date fully describes the forces that drove Lucent to the brink. Some illuminating articles did probe aspects of the situation (for example, http:// money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2003/07/07/345538/index.htm , as well as the book: Optical Illusions ). But they didn't reveal the entire real dirty story.
Retrospective interest focused on the Lucent accounting events, the financial reporting fiascoes, and executive actions during the last brief critical period, and not the longer-term underlying problems that guaranteed Lucent's ultimate demise. Optical Illusions would have one believe it was the transmission product area failure to deliver the needed products. But that simply attempted to shift responsibility away from Wall Street and McGinn.
In key respects, what happened to Lucent and AT&T mirrors cultural, political and social shifts that were occurring in the U. S. at the same time. If there are lessons to be learned, it is that America is changing for the worse, and is losing its ability to cultivate talented, dedicated engineers and scientists. It is losing its nurturing, supportive managers, and the corporate cultures that inspire true invention and innovation.
Companies can no longer afford the luxury of big science and long term research and development projects. Conditions are progressively deteriorated over time. With every transition, the changes become more destructive.
In a nutshell, what happened to Lucent was a result of:
Wall Street ego, greed, and malfeasance.
Corporate executive greed, incompetence, inexperience and ineffectiveness.
Meritocracy becoming mediocrity.
But there is lots of money to be made by Wall Street and Corporate Executives.

alcatel-Lucent NFC White Paper:
http:// www.tmcnet.com/tmc/whitepapers/documents/whitepapers/2013/6703-nfc-white-paper-alcatel-lucent-mobile-wallet-service.pdf
A general overview of comparing these:
"RFID is the process by which items are uniquely identified using radio waves, and NFC is a specialized subset within the family of RFID technology. Specifically, NFC is a branch of High-Frequency (HF) RFID, and both operate at the 13.56 MHz frequency."
"Peer-to-peer communication is a feature that sets NFC apart from typical RFID devices. An NFC device is able to act both as a reader and as a tag. This unique ability has made NFC a popular choice for contactless payment, a key driver in the decision by influential players in the mobile industry to include NFC in newer smartphones. Also, NFC smartphones pass along information from one smartphone to the other by tapping the two devices together, which turns sharing data such as contact info or photographs into a simple task."

Israeli Firm Can Now Hack Into Virtually Any Cellphone, Tablet
Digital forensics firm Cellebrite - which helped the FBI crack iPhone used by the terrorist in the 2015 San Bernardino shooting, offers "Unlocking & Extraction Services" for several devices, including iPhones, iPads and iPods running iOS 5 through 11 - and Android devices including the Samsung Galaxy, Galaxy Note, and other devices running the Google OS such as alcatel, Nexus, HTC, Huawei, LG, Motorola, ZTE and more. The service costs as low as $1,500 per device.
"Cellebrite Advanced Unlocking Services is the industry's only solution for overcoming many types of complex locks on market-leading devices. This can determine or disable the PIN, pattern, password screen locks or passcodes on the latest Apple iOS and Google Android devices," reads a document published by the firm.
Their Advanced Extraction claims to be "the world's first and only decrypted physical extraction capability possible for leading Apple iOS and Google Android Services."

Seems they have to have (or portray it as such) actual physical possession of the device.

Summary
This is what we've been given. What a mix!
alcatel Lucent
————–
HQ: Paris, France - this is curious since Lucent is Bell Labs, a purely American company spun off from AT&T. Very strange: the Finnish company Nokia purchased alcatel Lucent on 14 January 2016. Noteworthy is that this is just over 2 weeks short of Trump's inauguration. Seem to be focusing on the OZO virtual reality platform.
