The parliamentarian can pound sand, it is only an advisory role.
The parliamentarian of the United States Senate is the official advisor to the United States Senate on the interpretation of Standing Rules of the United States Senate and parliamentary procedure. Incumbent parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough has held the office since 2012, appointed by then-Senate majority leader Harry Reid.
The role of the parliamentary staff is advisory, and the presiding officer of the Senate may overrule the advice of the parliamentarian.
The Senate majority leader may also fire the parliamentarian, as occurred in 2001 during a dispute between parliamentarian Robert Dove and Majority Leader Trent Lott

Grok confirms that @LeaderJohnThune
can fire parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough. Please REPOST to send this message to Thune.
Republicans control the Senate and the House and the White House. Who gets to fire Elizabeth MacDonough?
Answer by Grok, expand to see full conversation
Given that Republicans currently control the Senate, the House, and the White House as of June 24, 2025, the authority to fire Elizabeth MacDonough, the Senate Parliamentarian, lies with the Senate majority leader. According to the structure outlined in the web results, particularly from the "Parliamentarian of the United States Senate - Wikipedia" and "Senate Parliamentarian - Ballotpedia" pages, the parliamentarian is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Senate majority leader. This means that the current Senate Majority Leader, John Thune (R-SD), who is also tagged in the X post you highlighted, has the power to dismiss her.
Historically, this authority has been exercised. For example, in 2001, Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R) fired Parliamentarian Robert Dove over a procedural dispute regarding the Byrd Rule and budget reconciliation. The role is not fixed-term, and the majority leader can replace the parliamentarian at their discretion, though such actions are rare and often controversial due to the parliamentarian's nonpartisan advisory role.
The White House, despite its Republican control under President Donald Trump, does not have direct authority over MacDonough's position, though the web result from "SCOOP: White House Pressures Thune to Fire Senate Parliamentarian" indicates it can exert political pressure on Thune to take action. Ultimately, the decision rests with Thune, reflecting the Senate's internal governance structure.

LOOKS LIKE ROGER WICKER
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Wicker
Roger Frederick Wicker (born July 5, 1951) is an American attorney and politician serving as the senior United States senator from Mississippi, a seat he has held since 2007. A member of the Republican Party, Wicker was a Mississippi State Senator from 1988 to 1995 and the U.S. Representative from Mississippi's 1st congressional district from 1995 until 2007.
Born in Pontotoc, Mississippi, Wicker is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and the University of Mississippi School of Law. He was an officer in the United States Air Force from 1976 to 1980 and a member of the United States Air Force Reserves from 1980 to 2003. During the 1980s, he worked as a political counselor to then-Congressman Trent Lott on the House Rules Committee. In 1987, Wicker was elected to the Mississippi State Senate, representing the 6th district, which included Tupelo.
Wicker was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994, succeeding longtime Representative Jamie Whitten. Wicker served in the House from 1995 to 2007, when he was appointed to the Senate by Governor Haley Barbour to fill the seat vacated by Lott. Wicker subsequently won a special election for the remainder of the term in 2008 and was reelected to a full term in 2012. Wicker served as chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee from 2015 to 2017 and is a deputy Republican whip. He was reelected in 2018, defeating Democratic nominee David Baria.

INDIANAPOLIS - Mike Pence was a twice-defeated House candidate, the loser of two brutal fights that left him on the ropes. His anti-government nostrums, conveyed in the wonky language of supply-side economics gurus, weren't getting him very far. That was when he became something different: His Mikeness.
It was the 1990s, when Rush Limbaugh and Howard Stern were really making it big on the American airwaves, and Pence was on his way too, finding his voice as a conservative Hoosier talk-radio show host.
He was no shock jock, and he didn't have the best time slots. His listeners were largely on the AM dial, scattered in small towns all across Indiana.
But Pence wasn't trying to be a Limbaugh clone. Instead, he learned, caller by caller, how to communicate his political ideas in pithy terms - talking about the global warming "myth" and the "monster" Dr. Jack Kevorkian. He also learned something else that would be invaluable in his return to the campaign trail - that conservative listeners weren't cutting any slack for Republicans in Congress; they hated the whole Washington package.
So Pence the radio host partnered his screeds against Bill Clinton with pot shots at Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott. The result was a political figure still as stolid as a small-town banker but with a surgeon's feel for the anti-Washington feelings of the grass-roots Midwest - a tea party conservative before there was a tea party.
The rest of the story is becoming better known: how Pence used his radio show as a springboard to something much bigger, to a 12-year House career and a term as Indiana's governor, ultimately landing a spot on the Republican ticket as Donald Trump's running mate. But for its host, "The Mike Pence Show" was a critical and formative experience, one where he learned everything he needed to know about politics.
Doing radio in the '90s, Pence wore crisp button-down shirts with the sleeves rolled up. He'd read snippets off wrinkled newspapers, nervously shuffle around his notes and make wild hand gestures. He had no sidekick, and there was no computer nearby for easy Googling. This was Pence unplugged, and it was here that he rebranded himself by offering a right-leaning spin on the world around him. He was also doing Trump's shtick years ahead of Trump, questioning the political wisdom of GOP leaders like Gingrich and Lott back in Washington, and much closer to home, condemning the local mainstream media for its "hatchet job" reporting on the Indianapolis 500.
...Pence's show had a casually indignant air to it - he wasn't channeling anyone's rage. His banter was easygoing as he implored his listeners to dial 800-603-MIKE, ending the week with "Open Phone Friday." He came out of commercial breaks to a "Mike Pence!" jingle and musical interludes from the likes of Hootie & the Blowfish and a bouncing keyboard version of "Great Balls of Fire."
"We'll be back in the saddle on Tuesday, rested, tanned and ready," Pence declared as he headed into the Memorial Day weekend in a May 1997 episode, according to rare archival videocassette footage of an episode obtained by POLITICO.
On this particular show from nearly two decades ago, Pence begins by talking about the first female B-52 pilot in the U.S. Air Force. The woman, Kelly Flinn, was in the middle of a media firestorm for having an affair with the husband of an enlisted subordinate. She'd just resigned from the military with a general discharge under honorable conditions and without facing criminal charges, and Pence was upset about how unserious he thought politicians like Lott and other leaders were taking the issue of adultery.

It's Called TREASON!
Peter Schweizer's new book exposes 20 'red-handed' Republicans who allegedly sold out to China
Political writer Peter Schweizer's latest book reportedly accuses 20 current and former GOP members of having essentially sold out to China.
Correction: This has been corrected to reflect that McConnell's ties to China stem from his father-in-law, not his stepfather.
Political writer Peter Schweizer's latest book reportedly accuses 20 current and former GOP members of having essentially sold out to China.
Released late last month, "Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win" has attracted attention thus far mainly for its bombshells about President Joe Biden and his extremely wealthy family.
But also contained within the book is a treasure trove of bombshells about elected Republicans, ranging from current Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell to former President George H.W. Bush.
Regarding McConnell, Schweizer reportedly writes that the Senate leader and his wife both "enjoy some of the deepest and most abiding ties to Beijing- linked entities of anyone in Washington, D.C."
Regarding H.W. Bush, though his ties reportedly began before he even became vice president to Ronald Reagan, they "flourished" once he took office in 1989.
"Prescott Bush, Bush Sr.'s brother, met with Chinese officials in Beijing in February 1989 just days before the president was set for an official visit. Prescott's meeting helped close the deal to build a golf club in Shanghai, China for non-Chinese business executives when they were visiting the country," according to Breitbart.
"Prescott also met with Chinese officials, on that same trip, to push for the creation of a communications network across China. Prescott was trying to secure the deal on behalf of New York-based Asset Management International Financing and Settlement Ltd. which had been paying him $250,000 a year."
Months later, "Bush Sr. lifted U.S. restrictions on exporting satellite technologies to China - a boon for Prescott's client, Asset Management."
Prescott also reportedly launched the U.S.-China Chamber of Commerce, "which exists to this day and has sought to further tether the U.S. economy to China."
Schweizer's book also lists connections between China and
former House Speaker John Boehner,
former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott,
former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour,
former Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad,
former Sens. David Vitter, Normal Coleman, William Cohen, Tim Hutchinson,
former Reps. Rodney Frelinghuysen, Ed Royce, Jeff Dehman, Lee Terry, Jack Kingston, Cliff Stearns, Charles Boustany, Connie Mack IV, Jon Christensen.

The Constitution gives Members of Congress the responsibility for disciplining their colleagues. While no witnesses advocated giving the entire responsibility to a group of outsiders, some wanted non-Members to be able to investigate charges and recommend punishment.
While the House has the Office of Education and Advisory, which answers Members' ethical questions,
There was agreement that there should be mandatory ethics training for both House and Senate Members and staff. Senator Trent Lott echoed many other witnesses' concerns when he asked, ``Shouldn't we at least make sure that we know what the rules are and that our staff knows what the rules are?'
Don't let them get by with flimsy excuses! Start demanding results before the midterms!

The War on Terror Is a Success - for Terror
Nick Turse reports on the proliferation of U.S. military targets since U.S. Congress gave successive presidents an essentially free hand to make war around the world.
It began more than two decades ago. On Sept. 20, 2001, President George W. Bush declared a "war on terror" and told a joint session of Congress (and the American people) that "the course of this conflict is not known, yet its outcome is certain."
If he meant a 20-year slide to defeat in Afghanistan, a proliferation of militant groups across the Greater Middle East and Africa, and a never-ending, world-spanning war that, at a minimum, has killed about 300 times the number of people murdered in America on 9/11, then give him credit. He was absolutely right.
Days earlier, Congress had authorized Bush:
"to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations, or persons he determine[d] planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001 or harbored such organizations or persons."
By then, it was already evident, as Bush said in his address, that al-Qaeda was responsible for the attacks. But it was equally clear that he had no intention of conducting a limited campaign. "Our war on terror begins with al-Qaeda, but it does not end there," he announced. "It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped, and defeated."
Congress had already assented to whatever the president saw fit to do. It had voted 420 to 1 in the House and 98 to 0 in the Senate to grant an Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) that would give him (and presidents to come) essentially a free hand to make war around the world.
"I believe that it's broad enough for the president to have the authority to do all that he needs to do to deal with this terrorist attack and threat," Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS) said at the time. "I also think that it is tight enough that the constitutional requirements and limitations are protected." That AUMF would, however, quickly become a blank check for boundless war.

Tavistock – Why America Folded Like a Cheap Tent
Dr. John Coleman: 4 Billion 'Useless Eaters' to be Culled by 2050…written In 1993 (Must Read)
Dr. John Coleman, (1931-?), was a MI6 British Intelligence agent
who wrote 12 books exposing the New World Order.
In his book, Conspirators' Hierarchy: The Story of the Committee of 300, (1993)
Dr. Coleman made the above statement about human genocide on p. 105.
Below is an excerpt from Chapter 26 of his 2006 book, The Tavistock Institute for Human Relations, about how the Satanists brainwash and control us. We are mice in a laboratory run by psychopaths who now see much of humanity as excess baggage.
by John Coleman
How mediocre politicians, actors and singers are "puffed"
This technique is what is known as "profiling", and can be applied to individuals, small or large groups of people, mass groups of people and or organizations of all sizes. They are then "puffed" to become "stars." While still in his early twenties in Arkansas, William Clinton was profiled for acceptance in the Rhodes scholarship program. His progress was profiled throughout his career, and especially during the Vietnam War period. Then, after he proved himself, Clinton was "groomed" for the White House and then constantly "puffed."
The whole operation was under the control of the Tavistock Institute's brainwashers. This is the way these things work. Thus are the tools forged to literally make candidates, especially ones who are deemed suitable for public office; candidates who can always be counted on to do the "right" thing. Congress is full of them. Gingrich was a typical successful "Tavistock product" until his conduct was uncovered. Trent Lott, Dick Cheney, Charles Schumer, Barney Frank, Tom DeLay, Dennis Hastert, Dr. Frist, and so on are other examples of Tavistock "graduates." The same technique is applied to actors, singers, musicians and entertainers.
Heavy propaganda was used to convince the population that unwelcome "environmental social turbulences" were the result of the changing times in which we live, whereas, as we now know, special new-science scientists designed programs (stress programs) to artificially create "environmental social turbulences" and then pass them off as resulting from a natural condition, best known as "changing times."
Tavistock's new science scientists were confident that we would not apply the principle "for every effect there must be a cause"- and they were right. For instance we meekly accepted the "Beatles" and their "novel music" and lyrics-if one dare call it music and lyrics, having been told, that the group wrote it all themselves.
Actually Tavistock graduate Theo Adorno, whose 12-atonal discords were scientifically pitched to create mass "environmental social turbulences" all across America, wrote the music. None of the Beatles could read music. Nevertheless, they were "puffed" day and night without ceasing until everything about them, - lies and all, was accepted as truth.
Tavistock proved over and over again, that when a large group is successfully profiled, it can be subjected to "inner directional conditioning" in just about every aspect of social and political life.

The Crazy New Republican Argument that the Filibuster Helped Civil Rights
A few weeks ago, Republicans launched a vigorous defense of the filibuster against the charge that it is a Jim Crow relic. Sure, they conceded, it was used to block some civil-rights bills here and there, but lots of tactics were used to block civil-rights bills. Are they all racist too? Huh? (Yes, that really was their argument.)
But now, apparently dissatisfied with merely making a defensive case for the filibuster's history, the Wall Street Journal has a column defending it as an active contributor to the triumph of civil rights. The article's thesis is captured by this surreal headline: "The Filibuster Made the Civil Rights Act Possible." The author, David Hoppe, is a longtime Republican who has worked for Republicans like Paul Ryan and Trent Lott, and who has been lobbying his party behind the scenes to maintain the supermajority requirement for more than a decade and a half.

DO IT FOR PAUL!!!
Anatomy of a debacle: Wellstone memorial doomed from the start
Sun | Nation & World
AP - Nov 27th, 2002
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – In hindsight, their first mistake may have been holding a memorial service in a big basketball arena.
Under a bank of Jumbotron screens.
Live on C-Span.
The Oct. 29 service held for Sen. Paul Wellstone after he was killed in a plane crash turned into a raucous political pep rally that turned off many voters. Some analysts say it not only led to the defeat of Wellstone stand-in Walter Mondale but also may have contributed to the Democrats' setbacks nationally.
In studying the anatomy of a debacle, many critics have focused on the blunt-edged speech of Wellstone's close friend Rick Kahn. But the event was designed from the start to be boisterous and, yes, political.
"The problem was the labeling," said Kathleen Hall Jamieson, dean of the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. "The mistake was in labeling this as a memorial instead of a celebration of the lives of these individuals, which is what it was."
She said people tuned in expecting a funeral and instead got a rally.
Others said that holding the event in a sports arena that seats nearly 15,000 all but predetermined the tone.
"To expect that 15- or 20,000 Wellstone supporters would be quiet as pictures of Trent Lott and others flashed on the screen was too much to expect," said Steve Smith, director of the Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government and Public Policy at Washington University in St. Louis.
The crowd's booing of Lott was difficult to hear on television but obvious to reporters there. The event was featured prominently on the national news, and conservative pundits seized on the spectacle.
"The problem here was that this was an event controlled by a family that was grieving and a campaign staff that was no longer in the campaign," Smith said. "So, there were errors in judgment."
Wellstone campaign manager Jeff Blodgett apologized for the event the next morning but declined to revisit it in a recent interview, saying: "We've paid the price for the memorial many times over. We're moving on."
The event almost happened in an entirely different way.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source familiar with the planning meeting the day after Wellstone died said the small group considered holding the service in a more somber setting such as a cathedral. But that idea was rejected for a variety of reasons.
One reason was that the senator was Jewish. But organizers also believed that any tribute to Wellstone had to reflect the populist bent of the man. Thus the big arena.
To those paying close attention, the intent of the memorial was clear in the advertised theme: "Stand up, keep fighting."
During the event, Wellstone's wife, daughter and three campaign staffers were given tearful eulogies. But when Kahn, chosen by sons Mark and David to speak of their father, took the podium, he almost immediately changed the tone.
"We are begging you to help us win this election for Paul Wellstone," he told the crowd. "We can redeem the sacrifice of his life if you help us win this election for Paul Wellstone." Kahn also singled out some Republican lawmakers in the crowd to ask them to honor Wellstone by supporting a Democrat for his seat.
Mark Wellstone spoke later and started a finger-jabbing chant of "We will win!" When the video monitors in the arena focused on Mondale, then Wellstone's presumed replacement, the crowd began chanting, "Fritz!"
Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe recently told a group of editorial writers that the big-screen close-ups were the biggest mistake of the event, which he said could have cost Democrats nationwide.
Afterward, the event's organizers were in shock, one person present said, and some immediately realized it was a public relations disaster.
Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, a political independent, said the very next morning that he was so disgusted he walked out. Republican challenger Norm Coleman was essentially given a fresh start.
"Up until the event, the Coleman people were scared out of their minds," said GOP strategist Sarah Janecek.
Neither Kahn nor the Wellstone brothers would comment for this story. But Kahn said in a radio interview the week after the election he intended his speech to be a personal expression of grief. He said he had no regrets: "I didn't say anything bad at all, and I wouldn't. It's not in my heart."

Anons remember?? I want a Q (You)!
"Obama, Ayers, and PLO supporters toast Edward Said's successor, but the press doesn't think it's quite as newsworthy as Sarah Palin's wardrobe.
Let's try a thought experiment. Say John McCain attended a party at which known racists and terror mongers were in attendance. Say testimonials were given, including a glowing one by McCain for the benefit of the guest of honor ... who happened to be a top apologist for terrorists. Say McCain not only gave a speech but stood by, in tacit approval and solidarity, while other racists and terror mongers gave speeches that reeked of hatred for an American ally and rationalizations of terror attacks.
Now let's say the Los Angeles Times obtained a videotape of the party.
Question: Is there any chance - any chance - the Times would not release the tape and publish front-page story after story about the gory details, with the usual accompanying chorus of sanctimony from the oped commentariat? Is there any chance, if the Times was the least bit reluctant about publishing (remember, we're pretending here), that the rest of the mainstream media (y'know, the guys who drove Trent Lott out of his leadership position over a birthday-party toast) would not be screaming for the release of the tape?"
See moar…

Say it aint so: Biden's rules for a Senate trial being adopted by McConnell?
WASHINGTON: If there is one lesson history teaches us, it's that Republicans can be relied upon to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. With the Democratically-controlled House voting to impeach President Trump, it falls to the Republican-controlled Senate to conduct the trial.
That is if Speaker Nancy Pelosi ever gets around to filing her chamber's bogus articles of impeachment with the Senate.
For his part, GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced he is willing to try the president under the same conditions that applied to President Bill Clinton back in 1999.
"All 100 senators agreed on a simple pre-trial resolution that set up a briefing, opening arguments, Senators' questions, and a vote on a motion to dismiss. Senators reserved all other questions, such as witnesses, until the trial was underway... Put first things first, lay the bipartisan groundwork, and leave mid-trial questions to the middle of the trial."
There's just one problem with McConnell's offer. It was Senate Democrats who set the conditions for Clinton's trial.
In his book "Sellout: The Inside Story of President Clinton's Impeachment," the late David Schippers, then-House Judiciary Committee Chief Investigative Counsel, was less than kind to the Senate's Republican leaders.
You see, then-Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, Republican from Mississippi, was less than happy that his House counterparts dropped an impeachment trial in his lap.
"You're not going to dump this garbage on us," he angerly told the GOP House managers (impeachment prosecutors). You know, we've been discussing this with Democrats, and everybody wants a fair hearing, but we don't want to spend weeks on this. We can't just shut down the Senate. We have important matters to address."
In other words, trying Clinton for perjury, subornation of perjury, witness intimidation, and hiding evidence (all actions falling under the definition of obstruction of justice) were trivialities when compared to passing pork-laden legislation.
One Senate Republican negotiating with the House managers was Ted Stevens.
You may recall how Stevens broke down in tears when Congress rescinded his wasteful $398 million "bridge to nowhere" for his state Alaska. (The Bridge to Nowhere: A National Embarrassment)
After hearing a Senate trial could take several weeks to unfold, Stevens was furious.
"What do you mean, five weeks? You're going to bring the Senate of the United States to a screeching halt for five weeks? While we are trying this, bombs are falling on Iraq."
The overly dramatic Stevens was reminded the Senate didn't have much in the way of business for two months.
When GOP Rep. Henry Hyde said he had ten to fifteen witnesses he wanted to testify, a Democratic Senator objected strenuously. But Hyde reminded him,
"Senator, your rules provide for a trial - for witnesses and evidence to be taken."
The Democrat in question leaned back in his chair and said with great confidence,
"We make our own rules."
No witness testified at trial.
That's because in the end, Sen. Lott deferred to one particular Democratic senator to craft the rules for Clinton's Senate trial. That Democrat was the Senator from Delaware, Joe Biden.
David Schippers' description of the House/Senate negotiations above is spot on:
"When Lott talked about bipartisanship, we know he was waving the white flag."
It does not bode well that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell promises to abide by impeachment trial rules cobbled together by Joe Biden and the Senate's big-spending Republican eunuchs.
But to President Donald Trump's credit, he is herding Capitol Hill's skittish GOP cats into something of a cohesive, roaring lion. Perhaps he can goad the normally docile McConnell to turn a sham impeachment trial into a show-and-tell indictment of Democratic Party corruption.
A prospect that would no doubt send chills up the spines of the mainstream media, President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and the ne'er-do-well Hunter Biden.
You only get one shot. Try not to screw this up, Republicans.

Senate makes House 'eat it' in border funding fight, as liberals fume at 'betrayal
The musical stylings of Weird Al Yankovic rarely offer clarity about the state of legislation in Congress. But Weird Al's 1984 hit "Eat it" (a parody on Michael Jackson's "Beat It") was inadvertently invoked this past week to crystallize the conundrum facing House Democrats after the Senate approved a crucial border spending bill 84-8. House liberals were either going to hold out against the Senate measure in favor of their own - or accept the Senate bill.
Amid these deliberations, former Senate Republican Leader Trent Lott, a veteran of such impasses, ambled by the Speaker's Office late Wednesday afternoon as a coterie of reporters stood watch in the hallway. Lott advised that if he were still running the Senate - where the overwhelming 84-8 vote spoke volumes - there would be only one clear path. "I'd say 'Eat it, House,'" Lott said with a laugh. It's exactly what they did. But not without a fiery fight first within the House Democratic Caucus - and one that threatens to keep burning for weeks and months to come.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi faced a huge challenge as she sought to both assuage the concerns from her left flank and engineer a bill that could actually pass. The House had approved its own version of the border legislation Tuesday night, 230-195. But the Senate devised a different, more bipartisan piece of legislation. Not as many controls and consequences for those charged with caring for children. Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby, R-Ala., wrote the measure alongside Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., the top Democrat on the panel. The committee approved the bill 30-1. The Senate then followed suit with a staggering roll call tally of 84-8.
"The administration opposes what the House is going to do," said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. "We believe they support what we're going to do." The House and Senate were out of alignment, approving competing bills. The front-runner for final passage, though, was fairly evident: The Senate bill secured more than 60 yeas, making it filibuster-proof, while the White House threatened to veto the House measure. The House still held out hope, engineering a revised bill on Thursday as the plan came back across the Capitol from the Senate. But the administration wouldn't budge. McConnell wouldn't budge. Things looked bleak for the House bill, even as it was apparent the House could approve the Senate version with most Republicans and many Democrats.
But Democrats faced a more immediate problem as the House began a pre-debate on the revamped measure Thursday afternoon. House rules allow members to vote on something called "adopting the previous question." In short, it's known as a "PQ." If the House approves the PQ, things continue as normal. However, if the House defeats the PQ, the minority seizes control of the floor for an hour and gets to call up whatever legislation it wants. The majority rarely loses a PQ vote. The House hasn't defeated a PQ (thus, turning over the floor to the other side) since 2010. If Republicans defeated the PQ, they would bring up the Senate bill. Losing control of the floor in such a fashion would be a major embarrassment for Democrats. But this was a distinct possibility. There was near unanimity on the GOP side for the Senate plan and dozens of Democrats were prepared to join them.

Swamp Report: 430 Former Members of Congress Are Lobbyists, Government Influencers
Former politicians regularly monetize their experience and contacts by becoming lobbyists, consultants, and joining other endeavors to influence government activities.
Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute and senior contributor at Breitbart News, explained the ubiquity of this phenomenon in episode three of his eponymous investigative video series.
In the latest edition of The Drill Down With Peter Schweizer, published at RealClearInvestigations on Wednesday, Schweizer highlights the following figures:
430 former politicians - both congressmen and senators - are now being paid to help shape government policies as lobbyists, consultants, and in other capacities.
60 percent - nearly two-thirds - of the 44 members who took new jobs after leaving Congress in 2019 now work in lobbying, consulting, or otherwise influencing government activities.
"Who says bipartisanship is dead in Washington?" jokingly asked Schweizer while highlighting former politicians of both parties who now "work to help special interests navigate the corridors of power in Washington."
Featured examples of the "revolving door" phenomenon used by Schweizer to illustrate his thesis include former Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) and Reps. Joe Crowley (D-NY), Lynn Jenkins (R-KS), Billy Tauzin (R-LA), and Anthony Weiner (D-NY).
Former Senate Majority Leaders Tom Daschle (D-SD) and Trent Lott (R-MS) are also highlighted in Schweizer's video report, including former Sen. John Breaux (D-LA).
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) have expressed interest in working together on legislation to prohibit former members of Congress from becoming lobbyists.
Schweizer explained the status quo of legal restrictions on former representatives and senators becoming lobbyists: "Currently, the law requires, simply, a 'cooling off period,' where a representative cannot register as a lobbyist for one year after leaving office, and if you're a senator it's for two years. But after that year is up, things heat up for former members of Congress. And quickly."

WHERE'S CLINTON'S SANDMAN? . . .
By Robert D. Novak January 26, 1998
Noting the eerie silence from Capitol Hill while allegations about Bill Clinton swirled through Washington last week, a close adviser to the president asked: "Where is our Charles Sandman?"
The late Charles W. Sandman Jr., a veteran Republican politician from New Jersey first elected to Congress in 1966, was a fiercely loyal supporter of Richard M. Nixon. From the Watergate break-in to the president's resignation, Sandman never wavered in his defense of Nixon – voting against impeachment in 1974 as a member of the House Judiciary Committee. It cost him his seat in Congress that year.
Sandman's performance was not isolated. Better-known Republicans – such as the future Senate majority leader Trent Lott – stuck with Nixon to the end. But the Clinton accusations, far less sweeping and considerably less substantiated than the case against Nixon, have generated no professions of loyalty from Democrats in Congress. That reflects a great divide in the Democratic Party and more trouble ahead.
One senior Democratic House member, a strong supporter of Clinton, for the first time in a 20-year relationship declined to take my telephone call. A respected senator, one of the few Democrats willing to talk about this even off the record, called the entire business "unseemly" without offering any defense of the president. Another Democratic senator who is much closer to Clinton said: "I cannot tell you how upset I am about the president's irresponsibility – how betrayed I feel."
Easy reasons for the Capitol's uncharacteristic silence were the physical unavailability of lawmakers during the last week of the long congressional recess and their lack of factual knowledge about the allegations. But such explanations do not satisfy even presidential aides. A more basic problem: It is hard to find many Democratic politicians, in Congress or outside, who fully believe the president's denials.
Indeed, recently reported confirmation that Clinton had sexual relations in Little Rock with Gennifer Flowers hardly came as a surprise to these Democrats. One member of the president's Cabinet privately – and inaccurately – assessed almost six years ago that her revelations would end the Clinton presidency.
But diehards in the mold of Charles Sandman supported Nixon less because they were convinced of his innocence than because they viewed him as the cutting edge of the Republican Party. That spirit is lacking among Democrats a generation later.
"This is what triangulation gets us," the presidential aide who raised the Sandman analogy told me. According to this theory, former Clinton political strategist Dick Morris's concept of a triangle with left, right and Clinton sides has robbed the Democrats of a fervent desire to support their chief. The Democratic congressional party never accepted the president's centrist tactics, which carried him but not the lawmakers to victory.
Calling Democrats around the country evinced little more backing for Clinton than could be found in Congress. In Chicago, for example, a closed meeting Friday of Cook County ward and township committeemen agreed that the party will be hurt in this year's elections even if the president survives this crisis. "The truth is," one Chicago organization wheel horse told me, "that Clinton has never been that popular with us Democrats in Illinois." But what did they think of the allegations? "Disgusting," he said.
For all this negativism about the first Democrat elected to a second term since Franklin D. Roosevelt, there is no talk among party leaders that they would be better off in the November balloting if Al Gore were president. Contrary to a widespread view, there is still some honor among politicians.
Nor is the president's departure at hand. It is hard to find anybody who knows him that thinks Bill Clinton will ever resign the presidency. If the present inquiry turns into impeachment, it will be a long process, posing this question: Should Congress impeach and convict a president for the crime of suborning perjury concerning a sexual-harassment case? The Democrats who are so slow to defend the president may well have to deal with him for three more years. (C) 1998, Creators Syndicate Inc.

Should an outgoing president make foreign policy commitments that might bind the incoming administration? To judge by the vitriol that greeted President Bill Clinton's foreign policy actions in his last weeks in office, many believe that the answer is an emphatic "no." Senator Jesse Helms (R-N.C.) fulminated that Clinton's decision on December 31, 2000, to sign the treaty establishing the International Criminal Court (ICC) was "outrageous" and "a blatant attempt by a lame-duck president to tie the hands of his successor." 1 William Safire excoriated Clinton's last-ditch attempt to negotiate an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal as a "hubristic stunt … that cannot be said to represent America's national interest." On the contrary, "in his zeal to be remembered as a peacemaker," Safire claimed, "Clinton was passing on to his successor the increased risk of a Mideast war." 2 Rumors that Clinton might travel to Pyongyang to conclude a missile deal with North Korea's Kim Jong-il elicited a stern warning from senior Republicans on Capitol Hill. "We urge that, in the closing days of your administration, you not attempt to bind our nation and the incoming administration to a new policy toward North Korea," Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.), House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), and others wrote Clinton on December 14. "Rather, we urge you to respect the prerogatives of the new administration to seek to overcome the disagreements of the past six years by forging a bipartisan policy toward North Korea." 3
Most notable about these criticisms of Clinton's last-minute foreign policy endeavors is the appeal to a set of principles that presumably should govern lame-duck presidencies in their final days in office. Unless reelected to a second term, presidents should not initiate new foreign policy efforts following elections, or so this argument goes. The search for a foreign policy [End Page 15] legacy is inappropriate at the end of a president's tenure, if not entirely illegitimate. Presidents preparing to leave office should do nothing to tie the hands of their successors. Yet a closer look at the criticisms of Clinton's actions reveals that what passes for a principled critique is in fact little more than a substantive disagreement over policy. Helms opposes the ICC as, in his words, "an unprecedented assault on American sovereignty." 4 Safire believes that the deal Clinton put on the table in an effort to bridge the gap between Israelis and Palestinians harmed Israeli security. Finally, Hill Republicans opposed a missile deal with the dictatorial regime in Pyongyang.
Undoubtedly, the political climate changes following a presidential election in which the incumbent leaves office, especially if his successor represents a different political party. Neither the lame-duck status of the outgoing president nor the certainty that a new president will take office the following January, however, is reason to curtail the fundamental constitutional right of sitting presidents to pursue foreign policy as they deem best. The most recent transition also did not represent a particularly novel or egregious use of presidential power in making foreign policy during the interregnum. President Dwight Eisenhower laid the foundation for the Bay of Pigs invasion during the 1960-1961 transition; Richard Nixon and Lyndon Johnson disagreed profoundly about U.S. policy toward the Soviet Union and Vietnam in 1968-1969; Jimmy Carter pursued negotiations to secure the release of U.S. hostages in Iran up to the moment Ronald Reagan assumed office in January 1981; and the elder George Bush sent U.S. troops on an open-ended mission into Somalia in December 1992. Indeed, a brief review of these past actions points to the importance of formulating a set of mutually agreeable rules that should govern the foreign policy behavior of both the outgoing and the incoming administrations during presidential transitions.

Circle of Intrigue: The Hidden Inner Circle of the Global Illuminati Conspiracy
Cloaked in mystery and shrouded in secrecy, ten ruthless men comprise the "Inner Circle" of the Illuminati conspiracy. In this explosive book, based on over nine years of intense, investigative research, Texe Marrs exposes the diabolical Plan which these evil men call their "Great Work." He unmasks their occult religion and discloses how this hidden group meets privately behind closed doors and issues strict orders to a network of agents and associates spread throughout the globe. The Inner Circle sets the agenda for such notorious organizations as the CFR, the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderbergers, the Priory of Sion, the Order of the Skull and Bones, and the Grand Lodges of Freemasonry. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Russian KGB, and British Intelligence also work for the Inner Circle and enforce its directives. Presidents, prime ministers, and dictators alike bow to this hidden group and plot together World Government. Does the Inner Circle also control President Bill Clinton, Vice President Al Gore, Senate Leader Trent Lott, General Colin Powell, and billionaire Ross Perot? Circle of Intrigue reveals the shocking truth about the World Conspiracy and warns of the cosmic destiny of this murderous clique of super-rich conspirators. Will their despicable plot succeed? Have they decreed bloodshed for America's future

Q Research General #3072: T_D busted
The Southern Segregationist Migration to the GOP
White Southern Democrats started voting for the GOP because Richard Nixon in 1968 and 1972 seemed to oppose forced busing. This method of winning the segregationist vote for the GOP, called Nixon's "southern strategy," was devised by Kevin Phillips.
Dinesh D'Souza tries to obfuscate the well known fact that most Southern segregationists switched to the GOP by putting the focus on Segregationist politicians, of whom very few switched parties.
Major racially motivated D to R switchers: S. Thurmond, J. Helms, T. Cochran, J. Tower, T. Lott Charles Pickering, James F. Byrnes, Albert Watson, William Cramer, Arthur Ravenel Jr., Dave Treen, James D. Martin, Floyd Spence, Bo Callaway, Iris Faircloth Blitch, Mills Godwin.
Not many segregationist politicians changed parties, because the Democratic Party continued to be dominant until 1980. Politicians like Senator James Eastland (who died in 1979) would have been less influential in the GOP. But those segregationists were conservative!
The Big Switch that Dinesh D'Souza Denies
Some significant public figures from the South who switched from the Democratic to the Republican Party are: John Tower, 1951; Strom Thurmond, 1964; Jesse Helms, 1970; Trent Lott, 1972.
More Democratic than Republican politicians voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964: in the House there were 153 D and 136 R votes in favor; in the Senate, 46 D and 27 R votes in favor. And of course it was signed by a Democratic president, sleazy LBJ.
In 1964 there were, from the former Confederacy, 12 Republican Congressmen and 1 Republican Senator (John Tower of Texas): every single one of them voted against the Civil Rights Act.
The racial attitudes of the two parties by 1983 can be roughly gauged by the Senate's vote on a holiday to commemorate MARTIN LUTHER KING. While majorities of both parties voted for the holiday, ONLY 4 DEMOCRATS – BUT 18 REPUBLICANS – VOTED AGAINST THE HOLIDAY.
A Misrepresentation of Both Parties
As it turns out, what D'Souza calls "the nazi roots of the American left" are, on the one hand, "progressive" Republicans, and, on the other hand, conservative Democrats that have now migrated almost entirely to the GOP.
D'Souza pretends that "progressive" Republicans and conservative Democrats were the same group. Furthermore, he wants us to believe that they were all left-wing Democrats. Clearly, none of them were left-wing Democrats!
Dinesh D'Souza on Andrew Jackson and Genocide
In America: Imagine the World Without Her, Dinesh D'Souza declared that "there was no genocide" of American Indians, that this was just another Big Lie by the left to make Americans ashamed of their country. But now Dinesh D'Souza himself is telling this "Big Lie."
"By some estimates, more than 80 percent of the Indians perished…. But there was no genocide. Millions of Indians died as a result of diseases they contracted from their exposure to the White man: smallpox, measles, cholera, and typhus…." (Dinesh S'Souza, A:ITWWH, p. 93)
"Today we think of Indians as tragic figures, woebegone on the reservation. But that's not how Andrew Jackson … saw them. Jackson knew the Indians were canny, organized, and strong…. We should not regard the Indians as passive weaklings." (Dinesh D'Souza, A:ITWWH, p. 102)
"What term other than genocide can we use to describe Democratic president Andrew Jackson's mass relocation of the Indians?" (Dinesh D'Souza, The Big Lie, 2017) "But there was no genocide." (Dinesh D'Souza, America: Imagine the World Without Her, 2014)
Dinesh D'Souza quotes Andrew Jackson out of context, "It was dark before we finished killing them," and leads his readers to believe that this refers to an act of genocide. In fact those killed (generally) were warriors fighting to the death in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend.
Dinesh D'Souza's attack on Andrew Jackson as a "racist" would instantly be recognized and reviled as Cultural Marxist propaganda if it were not clothed in Republican partisanism.
What do you think President Trump would say about Dinesh D'Souza's attack on Andrew Jackson as a "racist," given Trump's admiration for President Jackson, and the fact that he has been compared to President Jackson (and likewise called a "racist")?

In an interview with The Washington Post, Musk stated he was a "significant (though not top-tier) donor to Democrats," but that he also gives heavily to Republicans. Musk further stated, "in order to have your voice be heard in Washington, you have to make some little contribution."[173][174]
A recent report from the Sunlight Foundation (a nonpartisan group that tracks government spending), found that "SpaceX has spent over US$4 million on lobbying Congress since it was established in 2002 and doled out more than US$800,000 in political contributions" to Democrats and Republicans. The same report noted that "SpaceX's campaign to win political support has been systematic and sophisticated," and that "unlike most tech-startups, SpaceX has maintained a significant lobbying presence in Washington almost since day 1." The report further noted that "Musk himself has donated roughly US$725,000 to various campaigns since 2002. In 2004, he contributed US$2,000 to President George W. Bush's reelection campaign, maxing out (over US$100,000)[175] to Barack Obama's reelection campaign and donated US$5,000 to Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, who represents Florida, a state critical to the space industry. (…) All told, Musk and SpaceX gave out roughly US$250,000 in the 2012 election cycle."[173][176] Additionally, SpaceX hired former Republican Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott to represent the company, via the Washington-based lobbying group Patton Boggs LLP. Alongside Patton Boggs LLP, SpaceX uses several other outside lobbying firms, who work with SpaceX's own lobbyists.[177]
Musk had been a supporter of the U.S. political action committee (PAC) FWD.us, which was started by fellow high-profile entrepreneur Mark Zuckerberg and advocates for immigration reform. However, in May 2013, Musk publicly withdrew his support in protest of advertisements the PAC was running that supported causes like the Keystone Pipeline. Musk and other members, including David O. Sacks, pulled out, criticizing the strategy as "cynical."[178] Musk further stated, "we shouldn't give in to the politics. If we give in to that, we'll get the political system we deserve."[179]

Kristol and Kagan advocated regime change in Iraq throughout the Iraq disarmament process.[22][23] Following perceived Iraqi unwillingness to co-operate with UN weapons inspections, core members of the PNAC including Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, R. James Woolsey, Elliot Abrams, Donald Rumsfeld, Robert Zoellick, and John Bolton were among the signatories of an open letter initiated by the PNAC to President Bill Clinton calling for the removal of Saddam Hussein.[19][24] Portraying Saddam Hussein as a threat to the United States, its Middle East allies, and oil resources in the region, and emphasizing the potential danger of any weapons of mass destruction under Iraq's control, the letter asserted that the United States could "no longer depend on our partners in the Gulf War to continue to uphold the sanctions or to punish Saddam when he blocks or evades UN inspections." Stating that American policy "cannot continue to be crippled by a misguided insistence on unanimity in the UN Security Council," the letter's signatories asserted that "the U.S. has the authority under existing UN resolutions to take the necessary steps, including military steps, to protect our vital interests in the Gulf."[25] Believing that UN sanctions against Iraq would be an ineffective means of disarming Iraq, PNAC members also wrote a letter to Republican members of the U.S. Congress Newt Gingrich and Trent Lott,[26] urging Congress to act, and supported the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 (H.R.4655)[27][28] which President Clinton signed into law in October 1998.

The L.A. Times Suppresses Obama's Khalidi Bash Tape
By ANDREW C. MCCARTHY
October 27, 2008 10:00 AM
Obama, Ayers, and PLO supporters toast Edward Said's successor, but the press doesn't think it's quite as newsworthy as Sarah Palin's wardrobe.
Is there any chance, if the Times was the least bit reluctant about publishing (remember, we're pretending here), that the rest of the mainstream media (y'know, the guys who drove Trent Lott out of his leadership position over a birthday-party toast) would not be screaming for the release of the tape?
Do we really have to ask?
So now, let's leave thought experiments and return to reality: Why is the Los Angeles Times sitting on a videotape of the 2003 farewell bash in Chicago at which Barack Obama lavished praise on the guest of honor, Rashid Khalidi - former mouthpiece for master terrorist Yasser Arafat?
At the time Khalidi, a PLO adviser turned University of Chicago professor, was headed east to Columbia. There he would take over the University's Middle East-studies program (which he has since maintained as a bubbling cauldron of anti-Semitism) and assume the professorship endowed in honor of Edward Sayyid, another notorious terror apologist.
The party featured encomiums by many of Khalidi's allies, colleagues, and friends, including Barack Obama, then an Illinois state senator, and Bill Ayers, the terrorist turned education professor. It was sponsored by the Arab American Action Network (AAAN), which had been founded by Khalidi and his wife, Mona, formerly a top English translator for Arafat's press agency.
Is there just a teeny-weenie chance that this was an evening of Israel-bashing Obama would find very difficult to explain? Could it be that the Times, a pillar of the Obamedia, is covering for its guy

QR Bunker General #271: Voter Roles Matter Edition
>>103062
Found the likely suspects in the BLUE theft and rebranding to RED
Dennis Hastert, former Speaker of the House, fag soliciting blowies in the House bathroom
Trett Lott, rather cash out as a lobbyist than be in Congress and he quit
Don Nickles -voted against Ruthless Ginsberg, sponsored the Defense of Marriage Act, called out Trent Lott for praising the KKK's own Strom Thurmond (DEM), didn't want Sandra Day O'Connor because she was pro-abortion
All in all, a fine Okie, muh homie.
and last but not least the whoremongering warmonger, CIA's very own Bill Clinton
Seems the GOP has elevated a LOT of creeps, who's keeping them in check like that? Only pervs need apply?
Thank God for Donald John Trump.
