FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT) - Gret Glyer of Fairfax, Virginia, has been identified as the victim in an apparent home invasion in Fairfax County early Friday.

Glyer, 32, the CEO of global crowdfunding platform, DonorSee, was fatally shot in his home overnight Friday. Two young children were inside the dwelling at the time of the deadly incident.

According to reports officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 9800 block of Bolton Village Court around 3 a.m. Friday. When they arrived, the backdoor was found open and Glyer was discovered suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. There were two children reported to be in the house.

The condition of the children is unknown.

Glyer was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshow injuries.

On January 26, 2017, the Peace Corps issued a ban preventing their volunteers from using DonorSee.[7][8] Glyer subsequently initiated a Change.org petition asking that President Trump intervene and lift the ban.[8]

On June 24, 2022, Glyer was found shot dead in his home. Police were investigating the shooting as a homicide.[9]

The letter explained that President Trump could put a "defining stamp on your presidential legacy by pardoning Julian Assange or stopping his extradition."

"The US prosecution of Assange is unprecedented: he faces 175 years in prison for the same publications for which he has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. This prosecution threatens the constitutional protections that Americans hold dear. By offering a pardon, to put a stop to the prosecution of Assange, your presidency will be remembered for having saved First Amendment protections for all Americans," the letter stated.

The people who signed on to the statement represent nearly every corner of the globe - and the political spectrum.

Notable signatories include former presidents of Switzerland, the Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Brazil and Colombia. Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Mairead Maguire, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Rigoberta Menchú, and Shirin Ebadi also signed on.

As far as Americans who signed the letter, there was Rep. Why Hardly Anyone Trusts The Virus 'Experts'

Early in the pandemic, "trust the science!" could actually be used in a debate without attracting derisive laughter. But as the flip-flops, mistakes and, yes, lies have accumulated, a consensus seems to be forming that the health care authorities are no more trustworthy than the people running Congress or the Fed.

For proof, let's start with vitamin D, which sure seems to lessen the severity of coronavirus infections. As the chart below illustrates (couldn't find the source, but google "covid vitamin D" and you'll find lots of studies that track with this data), people with higher levels of vitamin D in their bloodstream tend to experience covid-19 as a non-event while people low levels found the infection life-threatening.

There are obvious questions about causality here, so calling vitamin D a "cure" is going way too far. But if it has even a marginal effect - and the data suggest considerably more - a rational government would, you'd think, be handing out vitamin D like Halloween candy. In fact, since we're mandating/prohibiting all kinds of other behaviors, we might expect vitamin D consumption to be required along with masks and social distancing.

Even covid-czar Anthony Fauci recently said:

"If you are deficient in vitamin D, that does have an impact on your susceptibility to infection. So I would not mind recommending - and I do it myself - taking vitamin D supplements."

So why aren't family-sized bottles of vitamin D arriving in the mail from the CDC? A cynic might wonder if the fact that Big Pharma doesn't make much money from cheap, widely available supplements plays a role in the government's apparent lack of interest.

Now about those lockdowns. Tom Woods has been producing charts that appear to show virtually no difference in virus outcomes between US states with aggressive lockdown policies and those without. California, for instance, has shuttered most of its small businesses and imposed widespread curfews, while Florida hasn't. Here's the result:

YouTube Attempts To Silence The Mises Institute

YouTube, the dominant video platform owned by Google, decided yesterday to remove a Mises Institute video. This decision apparently lasts for all eternity, cannot be appealed to an actual human, and comes with this friendly admonition: "Because it's the first time, this is just a warning. If it happens again, your channel will get a strike and you won't be able to do things like upload, post, or live stream for 1 week."

The video, a talk by Tom Woods titled "The Covid Cult" with more than 1.5 million views, was recorded at our live event in Texas two weeks ago. It offered challenges to the official narrative surrounding the coronavirus, particularly with respect to mask mandates. Woods's talk featured several charts showing rises in Covid "cases" across multiple cities and countries not long after imposing mask rules, demonstrating how such rules apparently have little effect on slowing transmission of the virus.

The speech was nothing less than a heartfelt tour de force against the terrible lockdowns and pseudoscience plaguing the debate over Covid, and a call to reexamine tradeoffs and priorities. It was, as you might imagine, a mix of unassailable data combined with our friend Tom's strong prescription for liberty and personal choice rather than centralized state edicts.

In other words, YouTube had no earthly business removing it. This kind of discourse seems to me the best and highest use for YouTube, its most important function.

"Big Digital," as Professor Michael Rectenwald terms tech companies, have become "governmentalities": supposedly private enterprises turned into instruments of state power and state narratives. This sordid process is different for each company, (some are more complicit than others, a few are heroically non-compliant) but it involves a mix of early start-up funding; connections and contracts with state agencies, particularly relating to defense and surveillance; and propaganda campaigns in service of state narratives. Rectenwald explains this phenomenon in his own recent talk titled "The Google Election":

In short, Google, Facebook and others are not strictly private sector entities; they are governmentalities in the sense that I have given to the term. They are extensions and apparatuses of the state. Furthermore, these platforms are governmentalities with a particular interest in the growth and extension of governmentality itself. This includes championing every kind of "subordinated" and newly created identity class that they can find or create, because such "endangered" categories require state acknowledgement and protection. Thus, the state's circumference continues to expand. Big Digital is partial to the interests and growth of the state. It not only does business with statists but also shares their values. This helps makes sense of its leftist bent and their preference for the deep state Democrats. Leftism is statism.

We encourage readers to consider the entirety of Rectenwald's talk, and his sobering book Google Archipelago for his thorough treatment of the facts and realities behind tech companies and the US state. This is not alarmism or conspiracies, but documented examples of how Google, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and others actively participate-including financially-in a melding of corporate and state power.

This, then, is real fascism. Big Digital-what writer Ilana Mercer calls "Deep Tech"- is not a collection of private companies in the sense we think of such. They are partners of the federal government, committed to ideological service as part and parcel of their own botTom line.

Thankfully, the sneering call to "build your own platforms" is being answered. Companies like Bitchute and LBRY (its video platform is Odysee) continue to host Mises Institute content, and promise to continue doing so. Truth tellers matter more than ever. It's time for our own institutions and platforms, which is precisely why the Mises Institute exists.

Years ago:

A more recent example:

Somehow I don't remember more examples of this at the moment, but I think many people on this board experience this all the time.

Why would anyone think that just straight-up making stuff up on the spot would be an argument? What's the motivation behind this?

Let's unpack this.

Virtually everyone agrees with every single plank of this, when stated in the vague, imprecise, weasel way he states them in this graphic.

(1) What does "full LGBTQ rights" mean? He doesn't say, but he assures us he's in favor. But that's kind of the whole thing, isn't it – what the words mean?

I know of nobody who thinks particular groups of people should be denied the rights to own property, enter contracts, sue in the courts, and in general exercise all the natural rights described by John Locke and others in the classical liberal (libertarian) tradition.

Now if what you mean is that some groups should have "rights" that involve initiating violence against peaceful people, as when some individuals are forced at the point of a gun to interact or engage in commerce with people they prefer not to, then no, we don't favor that. That's how thugs behave, not civilized people.

(2) Everyone believes "black lives matter." People who disagree with that anodyne statement amount to a rounding error.

What some people may disagree with are the laundry list of propositions and complaints by the Black Lives Matter organization, but presumably anyone with an IQ above 70 is able to distinguish between these two things.

For example, the United States is not even close to being a "white supremacist" country. Whenever I hear someone make that claim I think to myself, "This person is not well traveled."

(3) Everybody thinks we should protect the planet. Where we disagree is on what constitute genuine threats to the planet, and the best way to go about addressing those threats.

(4) Regarding health care, it is highly desirable for everyone to have it, but it is morally confusing to insert desert into the question. Nobody is morally entitled to the labor of anyone else. But it is surely desirable for the genuinely needy to have their needs met through the generosity of others – and of course, if we want health-care costs to be as low as possible, we should want the freest possible market, as I show in my free eBook Your Facebook Friends Are Wrong About Health Care.

(5) "The world is bigger than America," he says. Well, I'd say his side could stand to learn that as much as anyone.

I see people on the left pining for the atrocious George W. Bush. They could overlook the wreckage and massive (and obviously avoidable) loss of life across the Middle East because he isn't Trump.

Had Bush bombed Los Angeles, they'd be horrified and wouldn't even consider talking about what a decent person he was, and how much we miss his civility.

But when he bombs brown people abroad? Well, nobody's perfect!

I don't think a guy like that, whose following looks the other way at the slaughter of non-Americans, should be lecturing us about the world being bigger than America.

(6) Then, finally: "That people and places are made better by diversity."

The one thing we can know definitively about this person is that diversity is the very last thing he wants.

He holds a series of highly controversial positions – but instead of acknowledging that, pretends they're all a matter of common sense, summarizes them in bumper-sticker slogans, and dismisses anyone who disagrees as "inhumane." Because, of course, anyone disagreeing with him must think black lives don't matter!

Imagine having a conversation with someone like that.

Political scientist April Kelly-Woessner pointed out on the Tom Woods Show, when discussing her research, that the test of tolerance is not how you treat people you already like. The test is how you treat people you dislike, people who are genuinely different from you.

Does the person who made this graphic seem tolerant to you?

Or does he not rather seem like the kind of person who'd get you fired and ruin your life for wrongthink, all while congratulating himself on his open-mindedness?

Unfortunately, society is dominated by just this kind of person.

The flagship of this new alliance, the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, was sold as an earth-shattering breakthrough - an "odd couple" of "left-wing" Soros and "right-wing" Koch boldly tossing differences aside to join together and "end the endless wars."

That organization is now up and running and it isn't pretty.

To begin with, the whole premise is deeply flawed. George Soros is no "left-winger" and Koch is no "right-winger." It's false marketing, like the claim that drinking Diet Coke will make you skinny. Both are globalist oligarchs who continue to invest hundreds of millions of dollars to create the kind of world where the elites govern with no accountability except to themselves, and "the interagency," rather than an elected President of the US, makes US foreign policy.

As libertarian intellectual Tom Woods once famously quipped, "No matter whom you vote for, you always wind up getting John McCain." That is exactly the world Koch and Soros want. It's a world of Davos with fangs, not Mainstreet, USA.
A 'New Vision'?

Anyone doubting that Quincy is just a mass re-branding effort for the same failed foreign policies of the past two decades need look no further than that organization's first big public event, a February 26th conference with Foreign Policy Magazine, to explore "A New Vision for America in the World."

Like pouring old wine into new bottles, this "new vision" is being presented by the very same people and institutions who gave us the "old vision" - you know, the one they pretend to oppose.

How should anyone interested in restraining foreign policy - let alone actual non-interventionism - react to the kick-off presentation of the Quincy Institute's conference, "Perspective on U.S. Global Leadership in the 21st Century," going to disgraced US General David Petraeus?

Petraeus is, among many other things, an architect of the disastrous and failed "surge" policy in Iraq. He is still convinced (at least as of a few years ago) that "we won" in Iraq…but that we dare not end the occupation lest we lose what we "won." How's that for "restraint"?

While head of the CIA, he teamed up with then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to develop and push the brilliant idea of directly and overtly training and equipping al-Qaeda and other jihadists to overthrow the secular government of Bashar Assad. How's that for "restraint"?

When a tape leaked of Fox News contributor Kathleen T. McFarland meeting with Petraeus at the behest of then-Fox Chairman Roger Ailes to convince him to run for US president, Petraeus told her that the CIA in his view is "a national asset…a treasure." He then went on to speak favorably of the CIA's role in Libya.

But the absurdity of leading the conference with such an unreconstructed warmongering interventionist is only the beginning of the trip down the Quincy conference rabbit hole.

Saw these earlier today. These people are SICK! The public school system needs to be eliminated. We need a voucher system to allow other non nazi systems to flourish. Until then home schooling looks better every day. Tom Woods is always pushing the Ron Paul curriculum and it looks pretty good. There are more and more local home schooling groups forming due to the fascism pushed in the public schools and the shitty education they produce. The system can only produce failure by it's very nature. The worse the kids do, the more money the schools and teachers get. All funded by stolen fiat currency. Please tell us that this will be overhauled Q. I know DeVos is in there, I hope she is doing the right thing!
