Maine Gov. Janet Mills' name has surfaced in the latest U.S. Justice Department release of files related to the late pedophile and mystery powerbroker Jeffrey Epstein, who allegedly committed suicide.

The Maine Wire's Steve Robinson, Thomas Shattuck, Graham Pollard, and Jon Fetherston all contributed to this reporting.

Maine Democrats have been calling for over a year for the release of more files related to infamous pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, but the disclosures may have caused some collateral damage for Democratic Gov. Janet Mills, candidate for the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination.

The sensational allegations against Gov. Mills surfaced Friday in a trove of documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice as part of its ongoing disclosure of materials related to the investigation into Epstein's sex-trafficking and espionage ring.

For years, Epstein's role in the American and Israeli intelligence communities has mystified international audiences, stoking conspiracy theories - many of which have turned out to be true. The Epstein enigma only intensified when he was found dead in his maximum security jail cell on Aug. 10, 2019, a mysterious death that was ultimately ruled a suicide.

The records related to Gov. Mills and other figures in Maine politics include a detailed tip submitted to the Southern District of New York (SDNY) following the 2020 arrest of Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell. An anonymous tipster alleges that Mills was "instrumental" in covering up child sexual abuse and was "credibly named" in cocaine trafficking.

The tipster appears to have a deep familiarity with Maine politics and powerful figures from Maine political history.

That includes a former Maine State Police Chief Andrew Demers, who served for 25 years and was later arrested for sexually abusing a child, and Maine's former FBI Bureau chief, who went to jail for raping a 10-year-old girl.

Although the DOJ attempted to redact the tipster's information, contextual clues and poorly redacted URLs point toward Lori Handrahan. Handrahan has a Ph.D., is a professor in Washington, and spent time as a child in both New Sharon and Sorrento, Maine. She's also an author and a prominent anti-child trafficking activist.

According to Handrahan, Demers was influential in stopping child sexual exploitation investigations targeting some of Maine's most influential figures, including former U.S. Sen. Bill Cohen (R-Maine), who served as Secretary of Defense under President Bill Clinton.

"Every one of the cases that [Demers] shut down, including Bill Cohen's, related to child sex abuse should have been re-opened," Handrahan said.

According to the email, Handrahan alleges that the FBI's Kenoyer was protected by a judge - Donald Alexander - who also protected trial attorney Michael Waxman.

Waxman was the attorney for Igor Malenko, who had been married to Handrahan and had gained custody of their young daughter following a messy divorce.

"Maine's current Governor Janet Mills (who grew up with me-her mother was my high school English teacher) has been instrumental in the crimes against my daughter and I and in protecting Waxman/Malenko," Handrahan said. "She has also been credibly named as involved in cocaine trafficking."

Handrahan declined to comment further on her allegations during a text message exchange.

The broad-ranging and conspiratorial nature of the allegations are difficult to substantiate independently; however, news archive records verify much of what Handrahan told the SDNY.

A Sept. 13, 1987 story from the LA Times reports the following: "A judge sentenced a former FBI agent to nine months in prison and two more years of house arrest for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old neighbor girl... Kennebec County Superior Court Judge Donald G. Alexander imposed the sentence Thursday on John H. Kenoyer, 65, the FBI's former Augusta bureau chief."

Especially by the standards of 1987, nine months in prison is a lenient sentence for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old child - a sentence reminiscent of the nine months in jail Eliot Cutler received after he pleaded guilty to possessing hundreds of thousands of images of child pornography.

Although allegations that Mills was involved in cocaine use and trafficking have lingered in Maine politics since at least the early 1990s, this is the first time she's ever been connected to Epstein or implicated in a child sex abuse cover-up.

However, there are no other documents to substantiate the allegation that Mills engaged in the conduct described in the tip submitted to the SDNY.

LEWISTON, Maine -Safiya Khalid, a former Lewiston city councilor and former employee of Gateway Community Services, is facing sharp criticism after she used profanity to label Maine Wire reporter Steve Robinson a "neo-Nazi" and "white nationalist,"accusing him and his outlet of targeting Somali-owned and immigrant businesses and intimidating elected officials.

In the remarks on social media, Khalid alleged Robinson's work is "propaganda," claimed Somali and immigrant residents are living in fear, and accused the outlet of doxxing publishing identifying information such as names and addresses, while confronting public officials at their homes.

Khalid's comments drew condemnation online from critics who said branding a named journalist a neo-Nazi, a label associated with extremist violence, is dangerous and irresponsible, particularly while tensions are high around immigration politics and the handling of public funds. They argue that investigations into alleged fraud and government accountability are not inherently about race or national origin, and that public officials and organizers should not demonize reporters for aggressive coverage.

Somali-American Abdullahi Ali has had a prolific life since arriving in Lewiston, Maine as a refugee in 2009.

Ali has become a U.S. citizen, started a nonprofit to help fellow immigrants, started several businesses, including a multi-million dollar MaineCare-funded migrant services agency, and even - according to an interview he gave to Kenyan media - managed to raise money in the U.S. to buy weapons, munitions, and supplies for a paramilitary force he had hoped to lead as president of Jubaland, Somalia.

But his knack for running a celebrated migrant agency out of Portland didn't translate into electoral success last November when he failed to win the convoluted and disputed presidential race in Jubaland.

In an an interview with Kenyan media, Ali had previously boasted of his efforts to raise funds for para-military forces in Somalia, forces he hoped would back his claim to power should he win the presidential election.

"When I was in the U.S., I contributed to the financial support for the Jubaland-Somali army. To help the troops buy weapons, bullets and food," said Ali.

"I helped pay my share of the fund," he said.

At the same time Ali was helping finance arms deals in Somalia, he was also serving as the executive director and nominal head of Gateway Community Services, LLC and Gateway Community Services, Maine.

Ali's taxpayer funding, political connections, and boasts about funding Somali arms deals raise questions about whether U.S. taxpayer dollars were involved in paying for paramilitary activities aimed at influencing Somali elections, as well as whether Ali acted as an unregistered foreign agent while receiving millions in taxpayer dollars.

According to records obtained via the Freedom of Access Act, Gateway Community Services, LLC received $28.8 million in payments via MaineCare, Maine's version of Medicaid, from 2019 through 2024, including $4.1 million last year, while Ali was running for office with his militia in Somalia.

In April 2020, the LLC received $693,382 in taxpayer dollars under the Paycheck Protection Program, funding that allegedly backstopped 127 full-time jobs.

Other documents show that Gateway, while it was being run by Ali and Assistant Executive Director Rep. Deqa Dhalac (D-South Portland), owed a debt to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services of nearly $800,000 due to improper payments the company received under MaineCare. According to a March 2022 letter to Ali, a sample audit of reimbursement claims Gateway filed with MaineCare found a 36 percent error rate, resulting in Gateway receiving an estimated $903,938.95 in improperly paid taxpayer dollars.

It's unclear from the letter whether that debt was ever settled.

Ali's taxpayer funding, political connections, and boasts about funding Somali arms deals raise questions about whether U.S. taxpayer dollars were involved in paying for paramilitary activities aimed at influencing Somali elections, as well as whether Ali acted as an unregistered foreign agent while receiving millions in taxpayer dollars.

According to records obtained via the Freedom of Access Act, Gateway Community Services, LLC received$28.8 million in payments via MaineCare, Maine's version of Medicaid,from 2019 through 2024, including $4.1 million last year, while Ali was running for office with his militia in Somalia.

In April 2020, the LLC received $693,382 in taxpayer dollars under the Paycheck Protection Program, funding that allegedly backstopped 127 full-time jobs.

Other documents show that Gateway, while it wasbeing run by Ali and Assistant Executive Director Rep. Deqa Dhalac (D-South Portland),owed a debt to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services of nearly $800,000 due to improper payments the company received under MaineCare. According to a March 2022 letter to Ali, a sample audit of reimbursement claims Gateway filed with MaineCare found a 36 percent error rate, resulting in Gateway receiving an estimated $903,938.95 in improperly paid taxpayer dollars.

It's unclear from the letter whether that debt was ever settled.


According to public tax records, Gateway Community Services (the nonprofit, rather than the similarly named for-profit LLC) earned just over $1.5 million in revenue in fiscal year 2023, with $1.3 million of that revenue being from government grants. That represented a significant increase in taxpayer funding for the non-profit, which received just $135,561 in 2019 and $488,531 in 2020, according to tax documents.

The discovery raised alarms about election security, leading the Maine Republican Party Chairman to call for a federal criminal investigation as the state is mere weeks from deciding on whether it will join 36 other states in requiring some form of Vote ID.

The package arrived Tuesday looking beat up and re-taped, as if tampered with. Inside, along with household items, were bundles of ballots packaged in tamper-evident packs of 50 - the same format used for official shipments to local clerks. Election officials who reviewed photographs confirmed the documents appear to be authentic 2025 ballots.

The resident, stunned by the find, immediately turned the ballots over to the town office.

"I am greatly concerned for our state and its voting requirements," she said.

"When I opened it, there were 250 official State of Maine referendum ballots inside my box. Thank goodness I am an honest citizen and immediately reached out to my town clerk and took the ballots to the town for safekeeping."

The misdelivery comes just 35 days before Maine's Nov. 4 election, which features a high-stakes referendum on requiring voter identification.

The initiative, Question One, has divided state politics, with Democrats warning it could shrink their vote totals and Republicans insisting it would bolster election integrity.

Thirty-six other U.S. states, as well as virtually every nation in the European Union, have some form of Voter ID law.

Yet Maine Democratic Party Chairman Charlie Dingman has frequently downplayed the need for election integrity measures and fretted that if the "Yes on One" effort succeeds, Democrats could lose as many as 13,000 votes in future statewide elections.

In a May 30 text message to voters, for example, Dingman said that if Maine adopted Voter ID requirements similar to those of 36 other states that "it could result in a loss of 13,000 Democratic" votes being counted in subsequent elections. (Dingman did not provide an explanation as to how the proposed Voter ID would prevent any legal U.S. citizen from voting in the election, nor did he elucidate how the Maine Democrats arrived at the 13,000 figure.)

If the Maine Democratic Party chairman is correct, though, then those 13,000 voters who will mysteriously disappear from the election tallies if IDs are required could reshape control of the state and even the U.S. Congress.

With the stakes so high, the epic blunder in Newburgh will only cast more doubt on the legitimacy of Maine's elections, as well as the conduct of arch-partisan Shenna Bellows, a lifelong leftist activist who is currently seeking the Democratic nomination to run for governor in 2026.

Maine Republican Party Chairman Jim Deyermond called the Newburgh ballot discovery "beyond the realm of accidental."

"The U.S. Department of Justice needs to assume jurisdiction over this matter immediately," Deyermond said.

"This incident should be treated as a potential crime and a crime scene," said Deyermond, a retired longtime Massachusetts State Trooper.

Under state law, the Secretary of State's Office designs, approves, and oversees distribution of ballots. Ballots must be printed on secure paper, shipped in sealed units, and delivered directly to municipal offices under strict chain-of-custody rules.

Somali-American Abdullahi Ali has had a prolific life since arriving in Lewiston, Maine as a refugee in 2009.

Ali has become a U.S. citizen, started a nonprofit to help fellow immigrants, started several businesses, including a multi-million dollar MaineCare-funded migrant services agency, and even - according to an interview he gave to Kenyan media - managed to raise money in the U.S. to buy weapons, munitions, and supplies for a paramilitary force he had hoped to lead as president of Jubaland, Somalia.

But his knack for running a celebrated migrant agency out of Portland didn't translate into electoral success last November when he failed to win the convoluted and disputed presidential race in Jubaland.

In an an interview with Kenyan media, Ali had previously boasted of his efforts to raise funds for para-military forces in Somalia, forces he hoped would back his claim to power should he win the presidential election.

"When I was in the U.S., I contributed to the financial support for the Jubaland-Somali army. To help the troops buy weapons, bullets and food," said Ali.

"I helped pay my share of the fund," he said.
At the same time Ali was helping finance arms deals in Somalia, he was also serving as the executive director and nominal head of Gateway Community Services, LLC and Gateway Community Services, Maine.

Ali's taxpayer funding, political connections, and boasts about funding Somali arms deals raise questions about whether U.S. taxpayer dollars were involved in paying for paramilitary activities aimed at influencing Somali elections, as well as whether Ali acted as an unregistered foreign agent while receiving millions in taxpayer dollars.

According to records obtained via the Freedom of Access Act, Gateway Community Services, LLC received $28.8 million in payments via MaineCare, Maine's version of Medicaid, from 2019 through 2024, including $4.1 million last year, while Ali was running for office with his militia in Somalia.

In April 2020, the LLC received $693,382 in taxpayer dollars under the Paycheck Protection Program, funding that allegedly backstopped 127 full-time jobs.

Other documents show that Gateway, while it was being run by Ali and Assistant Executive Director Rep. Deqa Dhalac (D-South Portland), owed a debt to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services of nearly $800,000 due to improper payments the company received under MaineCare. According to a March 2022 letter to Ali, a sample audit of reimbursement claims Gateway filed with MaineCare found a 36 percent error rate, resulting in Gateway receiving an estimated $903,938.95 in improperly paid taxpayer dollars.

It's unclear from the letter whether that debt was ever settled.

Maine Gov. Janet Mills and Rep. Deqa Dhalac (D-South Portland) created the controversial "Office of New Americans" (ONA) last year as part of the governor's plan to bring 75,000 new workers to Maine over a five-year period.

On Dec. 18, Gov. Mills tapped former Catholic Charities and Department of Labor migrant resettlement coordinator Tarlan R. Ahmadov, 53, of Falmouth to be director of the ONA.

Since Ahmadov's appointment, details of his checkered past, including anti-Armenian social media posts and political advocacy, have led some in Maine's migrant community to call for for Ahmadov to resign or be replaced.

Among those calling for Ahmadov's ouster is Anna Astvatsaturian Turcotte, an Armenian-American refugee who alleged in a Feb. 22 letter to Mills that Ahmadov not only has a track record of casting negative aspersions on Armenians, but he also served as a foreign agent as recently as last year.

In her letter, Turcotte flagged an anti-Armenian proclamation Ahmadov attempted to push through the Portland City Council - a resolution that was withdrawn once members of the Armenian community informed then-Mayor Kate Snyder that the resolution was "full of historical inaccuracies and lies."

Turcotte then refers to an international trip that Ahmadov spearheaded last year involving several Maine elected officials.

"Most recently, in 2024, Ahmadov acted as an agent of the government of Azerbaijan, arranging for [a] Maine senator, representative, a judge and other authorities, to accept a lavish trip to Azerbaijan from this foreign government, where they were wined and dined in an area just recently emptied of its Armenian inhabitants, our churches destroyed, our cemeteries leveled, and where they blithely filmed propaganda for this authoritarian regime," Turcotte said in her letter.

Notably, Turcotte alleged that Ahmadov was acting as a foreign agent for the government of Azerbaijan when he arranged the luxury junket. If that's true, the U.S. law would have required Ahmadov to register as a foreign agent and provide details about his work for a foreign government.

Under the federal Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA), anyone acting on behalf of a foreign regime - whether in Washington, DC or at the state and local level - must register as a foreign agent with the U.S. Department of Justice.

However, the national FARA database does not include any listings related to Ahmadov, prompting the question of whether he illegally acted as an agent of a foreign government while arranging the junket presumably on behalf of and clearly to the benefit of the Azeri government.

Gerard Kiladjian, president of the Armenian Cultural Association of Maine, made a similar claim about Ahmadov's foreign agent status in his letter to Gov. Mills requesting Ahmadov's resignation.

"Mr. Ahmadov personally facilitated and participated in a fully paid trip for several Maine legislators to Azerbaijan, where he acted as a government agent, arranging meetings with Azerbaijani officials," Kiladjian said.

If Ahmadov was working on behalf of a foreign government and did not register with FARA, as appears to the be the case, he could have violated FARA.

FARA violations vary in severity according to the circumstance of the violation, but "Acting as an Unregistered Foreign Agent" without informing the U.S. Attorney General is a crime that could earn an individual up to ten years in prison under 18 U.S.C. ? 951.

However, Attorney General Pam Bondi has recently issued a memorandum deprioritizing FARA violations from an enforcement perspective.

The Maine politicians who joined Ahmadov on the trip, in addition to Rep. Dhalac, were Sen. Jill Duson (D-Cumberland), Rep. Mana Abdi (D-Lewiston), and Cumberland County Probate Judge Paul Aronson.

Dhalac, Duson, and Abdi all listed the trip on their financial disclosures, with the payor described as "Fund to Support Azerbaijan Diaspora" or "Fund for Support Azerbaijan Diaspora."

According to websites managed by the government of Azerbaijan, the Fund is directly managed by the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which is in turn under the direct oversight of the government of Azerbaijan.

In other words, the disclosures reveal that the government Azerbaijan paid for three Maine elected Democrats and a probate judge to have a luxury trip to Azerbaijan.

According to public tax records, Gateway Community Services (the nonprofit, rather than the similarly named for-profit LLC) earned just over $1.5 million in revenue in fiscal year 2023, with $1.3 million of that revenue being from government grants. That represented a significant increase in taxpayer funding for the non-profit, which received just $135,561 in 2019 and $488,531 in 2020, according to tax documents.

Since this story is going viral now, a few clarifications:

The 40% figure is an extrapolation based on a set of Medicaid records we got for 25 individuals described in Medicaid records as non-citizens. They were either "2-Legal Aliens" or "3-Other" in the healthcare records.

10 were registered to vote. This is, as we've always said, a non-random sample. But there are people described in Medicaid records as non-citizens who are also registered to vote.

At the same time, we have this story from a Spanish language translator who says that a Portland welfare clerk attempted to registered her non-citizen client to vote. To the best of my knowledge, this case was never investigated.

How Are Noncitizens Registering to Vote

Amid the flurry of letters exchanged between and among the Maine Wire, the Attorney General, the Secretary of State, and several Republican leaders, there has been great disagreement how the state should respond to reports of noncitizen voting in Maine.

However, no public official has disputed that it's entirely possible - and indeed, easy - for a noncitizen to become registered to vote, either wittingly or unwittingly.

While only U.S. citizens are legally permitted to vote in federal, state, and local elections, Maine does not require voter ID at the polls.

Rather than prove U.S. citizenship, and therefore eligibility to legally vote in elections, residents of Maine are asked to sign a form confirming that they are eligible to vote.

This signing may or may not take place in the presence of a qualified translator who understand election laws and appropriately advises their noncitizen clients.

In at least one instance reported by the Maine Wire, a woman who entered the U.S. illegally and applied for asylum status was offered voter registration paper work by a Maine welfare clerk.

According to Doris Rodriguez, a Spanish-language interpreter who helps asylum seekers obtain welfare benefits, she witnessed a Portland DHHS worker attempt to give a Venezuelan asylum seeker voter registration paperwork.

The Venezuelan woman had applied for benefits using a returned I-589 request for asylum, which was a clear indication that she was a paroled illegal alien - not a U.S. citizen or a naturalized U.S. citizen.

That means the welfare clerk should have known that the asylum seeker was ineligible to vote and that helping her register to vote would jeopardize her asylum claim.

"I said, 'What do you mean? She can't vote. She's here illegally,'" said Rodriguez.

"I told them she can't vote-she's not a U.S. citizen. Offering her that form was setting her up for deportation," said Rodriguez.

"I said, 'Why would you ask her that?' I mean, if she votes, she goes to prison. It's a federal offense," said Rodriguez.

"[S]he kind of looked down at the paper and she said, 'Well, that's what I was told to do, to ask,' you know," she said.

"She said that she was told by the head of by DHHS to ask the clients that are requesting benefits if they want to register to vote, even if they're not legal citizens," said Rodriguez.

A spokesperson from DHHS did not reply to questions about why DHHS welfare clerks would offer voter registration forms to noncitizens.

Maine law enforcement raided an illegal marijuana grow at 414 Kennebec Road in Machias Thursday, confiscating more than 2,600 live marijuana plants and more than 100 pounds of processed cannabis.

"At 9:30 monday morning, the Machias Police Department executed a search warrant at 414 Kennebec Road in Machias. "2,607 plants were seized, and over 100 pounds of processed marijuana was seized," Mercier said.
A photo taken today by a Maine Wire reader showed at least one marked cruiser present at the site.

The raid comes little more than one month after the Maine Wire published an investigative report revealing the locations and owners of dozens of Chinese-owned marijuana grows dotting rural Maine.

According to the Washington County Registry of Deeds, the Machias property was purchased in 2021 byHBA Properties, a Webster, Mass.-based company.

According to Mass. corporate records, the officers of that company areFanny Sun, Qiao Yi Wu, Sinh Phat Voong, and Zhan Su.

All three men were charged with two Class B felonies for illegal trafficking in Schedule Z and illegal trafficking in cannabis with 500 plants or more, Mercier said.

The Office of Cannabis Policy, who assisted in the raid, determined that the facility was not operating in relation to any adult use recreational or medicinal license.

The federal Drug Enforcement Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency assisted in the investigation.

The street value of the marijuana seized would amount to more than $1.1 million dollars if sold in Maine, but the price could be three times as high if the product were to be trafficking to states where marijuana is still illegal.

Chen was not among those arrested Thursday morning, and it wasn't immediately clear whether he would be questioned in connection with the raid.

Bowdoin Shooter Killed Parents, Two Others, Posted Video Claiming Past Molestation

The victims in a shooting that left four dead in Bowdoin have now been identified as the parents of the shooting suspect and two friends they had been staying with, Maine State Police said during a press conference on Wednesday.

Yesterday Maine State Police identified the suspect in the murders as 34-year-old Joseph Eaton. They identified the victims Wednesday as Eaton's parents, David L. Eaton, 66, and Cynthia R. Eaton, 62, and Robert Eger, 72, and Patti Eger, 62.

The Egers owned the Augusta Road residence in Bowdoin where the shooting took place.

A neighbor who was concerned about the Egers well-being after several unanswered phone calls discovered one of the bodies in the residence and called the Sagadahoc County Sheriffs' Department at 9:21 am. Deputies arrived on the scene by 9:40 am and located three additional deceased victims.

The Egers and Cynthia Eaton were found inside the primary residence, while David Eaton was found in an unattached garage.

That neighbor was able to give information to responding officers that quickly connected the Bowdoin crime scene to Eaton, who was taken into custody by Maine State Police a short time later.

Also, Wednesday morning, shortly after 10:30 am - and an unknown time after he is suspected of killing the four victims - and police from Yarmouth, Falmouth, Cumberland responded to reports of gunfire on Interstate-295.

Law enforcement believe Eaton opened fire on an unrelated vehicle in Yarmouth off of Exit 15. Maine State Police said Eaton later confessed that he believed he was being followed by cops, so he opened fire.

In that vehicle and injured were Sean Halsey, 51, and his two children, Justin Halsey, 29, and Paige Halsey, 25. All three were taken to Maine Medical Center.

Paige Halsey remains in critical condition.

A search conducted using canine units around Exit 15 led to Eaton being detained without an exchange of gunfire in the nearby woods.

Contrary to reports circulating on social media, law enforcement said they have no evidence that a second shooter was involved.

Eaton was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland for medical care after his arrest, but police would not say why other than that he had a medical condition. Police said he did not resist arrest, and they would not say whether he was under the influence of drugs.

Eaton is being held at the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

Law enforcement would not say when the four victims are thought to have died.

Colonel Bill Ross with the State Police called the law enforcement response "one of the most dynamic, certainly criminal investigations we've seen in recent memory, if not ever in the state of Maine."

Law enforcement said the Patricia Eaton had just on April 14 picked up her son after he was released from the Windham Correctional Facility.

Maine State Police would not say where Eaton was living between the time of his arrest and his April 14 release from a correctional facility other than to say his parents had assisted with his accommodations.

Maine State Police records show Eaton had previously been convicted of violent felonies, which means he was prohibited from owning a firearm. He was incarcerated most recently for an aggravated assault in 2021.

Law enforcement also wouldn't comment on the type, quantity, and style of firearm used in the killings.

Police were unable to confirm that Eaton was a resident of Maine when he was arrested and incarcerated in 2021.

Less than 12 hours before Eaton was arrested, he posted a bizarre video to Facebook in which he spoke of apologies, forgiveness, and second chances, referring to a previous - perhaps romantic - relationship.

Eaton also claimed that he had been dealing with past trauma related to molestation.

"Just need to try to forgive me for the things I did. I've been dealing with trauma for a long time on things I don't talk to people about. Being molested and stuff. It destroys somebody. I know I'm good for my kids. I just wish someone would forgive me. Some people. I don't get it."

Based on information Maine State Police released Wednesday, Eaton may have already killed four people at the time he posted this video.

Maine and federal law enforcement officials were either unable or were unwilling to reveal the identities and current whereabouts this week of seven men arrested at a Rockland Home Depot on Saturday, Feb. 18.

"The Asset Protect Office of Home Depotwas watching [the seven men] via remote camera and management from Home Depot wanted the people trespassed from the store," a the Rockland Police Department said in a Feb. 18 press release.

"Rockland Police have received information in the past regarding a particular group or groups of individuals, often using white vans, that have allegedlystolen tens of thousands of dollars, or more,of materials and equipment throughout the state, particularly from Home Depot," the release said.

Two Rockland PD officers arrived and detained the seven men, but when it was discovered that they spoke poor English and had no U.S. identification, they called in an unnamed U.S. Border Patrol agent.

"Based on the limited information the Rockland Police Officers had on scene and complexity of the investigation, all the persons involved were trespassed with the criminal investigation ongoing," the release stated. "Rockland Police and members of the Knox County Sheriff's Office assisted Border Patrol in detaining and transporting all the individuals to the Knox County Sheriff's Office for further investigation."

From there, the seven unknown men were handed off to U.S. Border Patrol and transported to an unknown location.

The Maine Wire contacted the Rockland Police Department, the Knox County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) multiple times by email and phone to learn more about the case, the individuals involved, and their current whereabouts.

But none of the law enforcement agencies would - or could - provide more than basic information about what happened to the seven men, who they are, or where they are being kept.

None of the men have been charged with a crime in Maine, but they have been held in law enforcement custody since Saturday.

On Tuesday, Ryan Brissette, public affairs officer with the Department of Homeland Security office in Boston, responded to an inquiry seeking information about the arrestees.

"At this time, all inquiries should be forwarded to Rockland PD," Brissette said.

However, the Rockland Police Department said it did not book or process the individuals but only transported them to a Knox County facility.

Rockland Police Chief Timothy Carroll said the department had no records whatsoever regarding the identities of the individuals it delivered to federal custody.

The Rockland PD press release said "criminal charges are pending" against the seven individuals. Asked how charges could be pending without any public records related to the subjects, Carroll said the release was incorrect and should have simply said the investigation is ongoing.

A Knox County Sheriff's Deputy said the Sheriff's office did not book or process the individuals but just held them for U.S. Border Patrol officials to pick up. Like Rockland PD, the Knox Sheriff's Department said it had no records other than the initial complaint from Home Depot concerning the subjects.

Neither Maine agency could provide any information or public records about the individuals they transferred into federal custody.

Angus King Doubles Down on "Enemies List" Censorship of Critics

In his first statement addressing the growing scandal over his 2018 campaign's use of a secret "enemies list" to censor critics on Facebook and Twitter, Sen. Angus King has doubled down.

King did not apologize or plead ignorance of the enemies list or its use to censor critics, but he instead appeared to approve of and endorse actions that resulted in many Mainers being banned permanently from the social media platform.

"If somebody's gonna come after me with a misleading- uh, with misinformation, I'm gonna respond," King told Newscenter Maine Wednesday morning.

In this instance, King's response to what he calls "misleading information" was to contact high-level employees at Facebook and Twitter to provide them with a black list of more than 350 social media users.

After King's team sent the list to Facebook and Twitter, many of those accounts were permanently banned from the platforms, including accounts belonging to the Maine Republican Party and former candidates for state office.

It's unclear at this point with King, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, used the power of his office in order to facilitate the censorship of his critics through Twitter and Facebook. The campaign worker who reportedly provided the blacklist to Twitter was Toby J. McGrath, who now works as a lobbyist for Drummond Woodsum.

The "misleading information" King refers to is a video of comments he made during the 2018 campaign comparing alleged Russian cyber crimes to the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

King also made those comments in an interview with CNN, but after State Sen. Eric Brakey (R-Androscoggin) began promoting the video, King's campaign decided to start calling the video of King speaking misinformation. The tactic was successful and resulted in many Maine media outlets downplaying coverage of King's remarks.
The senator's office is using similar tactics to downplay the significance of King's participation in brazen tech censorship of political critics.

Although King's spokesperson initially denied that the purpose of the list was to censor critics, King did not repeat that denial this morning. He seemed instead to say that leveraging corporate and political connections in this manner is just another aspect of hard-nosed politics.

King hasn't said whether he's running for re-election in 2024. If he is, his comments today suggest he would eagerly embrace tech censorship as a political tool again, though he might find a less willing co-conspirator in Twitter under Elon Musk's ownership.

Brakey has said he's considering filing a complaint against King with the Federal Election Commission.

A Damariscotta mom demanded the resignation of several public school officials at a school board meeting Wednesday following her discovery that a school social worker had begun secretly transitioning her 13-year-old daughter's gender.

In an emotionally charged address to the school board, Amber Lavigne said a Central Lincoln County School System (CLCSS) social worker at Great Salt Bay Community School in Damariscotta provided a chest binder to her daughter - a gender transitioning device the employee encouraged the young girl to keep secret from her parents.

Lavigne said she'd never met the social worker - Samuel Roy - and had no idea school employees were secretly working to put her daughter on the path to gender transition. Other officials in the school also participated in the young girl's social transition, using masculine pronouns to address her.

Chest binders are medical devices used to flatten the appearance of breasts in females who are uncomfortable with the appearance of their chest. The devices can cause back pain, skin irritation, infections, and exacerbate underlying health conditions even when worn properly.

In adults, the devices typically require proper fitting and regular breaks. Advocates for sex-change surgeries as a treatment for gender dysphoria see chest benders as a stepping stone to eventual double mastectomies, a surgery that removes healthy breast tissue.

Lavigne said she was aware that her daughter was seeing a social worker in the school system, but that her daughter had been reassigned to a new social worker in October. She was never told about Roy, the new social worker, and Roy never contacted her. She said the chest binder was provided less than two weeks after her daughter first met Roy.

Although school administrators initially expressed alarm when Lavigne confronted them about what had happened, she later learned that no school system employee, including Roy, will lose their job over the plan to secretly gender transition a 13-year-old student.

She said her daughter turned 13 a month before the social worker started the clandestine plan.

The Maine Wire placed multiple phone calls and sent multiple emails to various CLCSS school officials; none of them responded to our inquiries.

Superintendent Lynsey Johnston, who started in her role in July, did not responded to multiple requests for comment.

An email sent to every member of the school board was acknowledged by board member Jesse Butler. In a short response, Butler said he was referring the inquiry to Sam Belknap of Damariscotta, the board chair.

Belknap did not respond to subsequent phone and email inquiries.

"Under no circumstances should she have been provided a chest binder without the knowledge of her parents," Lavigne said to the school board.

She said the school will not release notes from the meetings with either Roy, or the first social worker, Jessica Allen-Fumarola.

"A social worker at the school encouraged a student to keep a secret from her parents," she said. "This is the very definition of child predatory sexual grooming. Predators work to gain a victims' trust by driving a wedge between them and their parents."

Video posted online by parental rights advocate Shawn McBreairty shows a visibly upset Lavigne addressing a stone-faced panel of school board officials.

Ryan responded later Sunday in a tweet: "So apparently fox just wants to slam me for clicks. and never read the article I retweeted either. Lol! So sad! Hello it said the conspiracies were unfounded. You just need me to hate. Thank you!!"

She also tweeted a link to her book.

Ryan, who is also the White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks, initially tweeted the article without comment. The Root is an online magazine of African-American culture.

So why should "alt-righters" have all the fun peddling disproven and unfounded conspiracy theories, writes The Root political editor Jason Johnson, who goes on to suggest one of his own.

"Now it turns out that the Trump administration may have an equally implausible conspiracy on its hands: Is the administration involved in child sex trafficking or just white nationalism? Follow me down the rabbit hole and see for yourself," Johnson says in the article, published Friday.
