When this magazine revived the annual "Power Issue" last year, we assembled a list of secretly powerful New Yorkers in an effort to explain how the city actually works. This year, we were curious to understand how the news media is surviving in a time of imploding business models and record public distrust. We gathered 57 of the most powerful people in media- and rather than simply anoint them, we put them to work. What follows is a tour through the state of journalism, assembled from dozens of hours of extremely candid conversations.
Some executives we spoke to are in the business of keeping legacy institutions like the New York Times or the Washington Postviable; some are trying to build new media companies like Puck, The Ankler, or The Free Press; some are sole proprietors of their own brands via newsletters or audio. We focused largely on the news media: the organizations and individuals responsible for producing and distributing information to the public, whether it concerns politics or fashion or sports. And because news organizations are obviously no longer the only places - or, in some cases, even the main places - people get their news today, we didn't look just at traditional news outlets. We also included people like Neal Mohan, head of YouTube, the platform where zoomers are increasingly likely to get their news, and Lauren Kern, head of Apple News, essentially the world's largest newsstand.

Ramaswamy anticipated partisan objections from the company, invoking his bid as a Republican contender in the presidential race, but suggested that it may be in the company's best interest "to hear from someone who shares views in common with [more than] 150 million Americans." Ramaswamy also invoked his credentials as a "serious founder" who has created multiple multi-billion-dollar start-ups.
"The three new directors who have expressed interest in joining your board will represent a first step in the right direction," he said.
This "strategic pivot," Ramaswamy suggested, would be BuzzFeed's "best chance to rapidly create shareholder value, without the massive capital demands usually required to fuel vertical growth, at a moment when customers are longing for something that you can uniquely provide."
Audience members who love the new mission, Ramaswamy said, "are likely to also support [BuzzFeed] as shareholders."
Ramaswamy closed the letter by urging BuzzFeed's board to add three proposed new directors by July 15.
"I look forward to arranging meetings in the coming weeks," Ramaswamy said.
BuzzFeed shared a letter with FOX Business from CEO Jonah Peretti in response to Ramaswamy's requests.
Letter from BuzzFeed CEO:
"Hey Vivek -
Thanks for reaching out, nice to finally hear from you. I'm glad you think BuzzFeed is undervalued - I totally agree!
Based on your letter, you have some fundamental misunderstandings about the drivers of our business, the values of our audience, and the mission of the company.
I'm very skeptical it makes business senseto turn BuzzFeed into a creator platform for inflammatory political pundits. (Like they are not inflammatory political pundits in writing, Kek)
And we're definitely not going to issue an apology for our Pulitzer Prize-winning journalism. (They are proud of trying to destroy PDJT by intentionally publishing this and got a Pulitzer. They will never admit what they did)
That said, I welcome outside perspectives from shareholders and am open to hearing more from you. I'd also love the opportunity to better explain the strategy that we've outlined on our recent earnings calls, and why we're so confident it will create the most value.
I've copied my EA to schedule a time to meet.
Looking forward to talking more,
Jonah"

Q Research General #23983: Never Forget Edition
I have a suggestion/recommendation for anons. You might want to go back and read certain books that were popular a while ago. They are very interesting now. The ones I am thinking of include those by Frank Peretti and Johnathan Cahn. I just read "This Present Darkness" in the last year or so and I'm digging into The Harbinger by Johnathan Cahn again.
This Present Darkness is very accurate, imo, about what is happening now in society.

Do anons recall the book "This Present Darkness" by Frank Peretti? I read it several months ago and it seems to portray what is going on right now incredibly well.
This is how Wikipedia "recommends" the book:
"It has also been described as potentially having racist overtones due to the villains all being "vaguely Hindu", and as possibly being an influence on the QAnon belief system.[10] QAnon's messianic beliefs have also been connected to "the same culture previously captivated and emboldened" by Peretti's novels.[11]"

Far-Left BuzzFeed News Shuts Down... DEVELOPING
BuzzFeed News is shutting down.
BuzzFeed is best known for publishing the fake, Hillary Clinton-funded Russia dossier in January 2017 shortly before Trump's Inauguration.
The fake news outlet was sued for publishing the Russia dossier.
Last year it was reported that BuzzFeed was losing $10 million a year.
Now they're shutting down.
CNN reported:
BuzzFeed News, the Pulitzer Prize-winning digital news website that that took the internet by storm roughly a decade ago and inspired jealousy from legacy media organizations, will shutter, BuzzFeed chief executive Jonah Peretti announced Thursday.
The move was part of broader layoffs across BuzzFeed, Peretti said in a memo to staffers, with the company moving to slash 15% of its workforce, or 180 employees.
"While layoffs are occurring across nearly every division, we've determined that the company can no longer continue to fund BuzzFeed News as a standalone organization," Peretti told staffers.
BuzzFeed has "begun discussions with the News Guild," the union which represents staffers at the company, about the actions.

Bored and want an interesting dig?
Count Ferdinando Brachetti Peretti and his wife Nicole Junkermann.
Will make Notables from a few different angles.
Is the two people we were digging on the CBTS board in '16 when it went down. Admins confirmed it had to be due to their dig. If you were around on that board you know what sort of dregs we had poster there on countless high profile ppl. So why all the effort on their dig?
They've hardly been touched here so will be worth your while to bring the info to the board.

BuzzFeed cutting 12 percent of workforce as CEO warns of downturn
December 6, 2022
BuzzFeed will cut about 12% of its workforce to rein in costs, the online media company said Tuesday, as it joins a growing number of US firms that have taken similar measures in anticipation of a potential economic downturn.
As of Dec. 31, BuzzFeed had 1,522 employees across six countries, according to a regulatory filing.
"Our revenues are being impacted by a combination of worsening macroeconomic conditions, and the ongoing audience shift to vertical video, which is still developing from a monetization standpoint," chief executive officer Jonah Peretti said in a letter to affected employees.
"That requires us to lower our costs. Unfortunately, reducing our workforce is an essential part of cost cutting. Staff salaries are the single largest cost at the company."
Peretti said he expected the economic downturn to extend well into 2023.
Several technology companies, including Meta Platforms, Twitter and Snap, have cut jobs and scaled back hiring in recent months as higher interest rates, rising inflation and an energy crisis in Europe start to take a toll on the economy.
BuzzFeed shares fell 4% to $1.09.

"Today's The Last Day" - BuzzFeed Disaster Worsens As News App Shuts Down
Buzzfeed is being forced to tighten its belt (again) by axing its BuzzFeed News app, which comes a little more than a week after reports indicated the money-losing news organization would shut down its newsroom.
On Friday evening, the BuzzFeed News app posted its final notification:
"Well, folks, today's the last day of the BuzzFeed News app. Thanks for the memories and see y'all out there."
The app's demise comes after the company released abysmal first-quarter results. CNBC noted several large investors urged BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti to shutter the company's newsroom – what a novel idea to reduce expenses as the company loses more than $10 million a year.
In February, a hiring freeze was reported as investors were furious with the media company's lack of profitability, ill-advised shopping spree of other media firms, and crashing stock price post-SPAC debut.
Investor redemptions have occurred concurrently as the share price has been halved since the SPAC debut in December.

Q Research General #19637: JEFF ZUCKER RESIGNS FROM [CP]NN!!! Edition
CNN and Buzzfeed
Reminder posted last night, Trump Curse on Buzzfeed, only know as most despicable media to publish Steele dossier in January 2020
Buzzfeed did an IPO that started at $10 share price, dropped down to $3.99 by end of day, that hardly ever happens on the first day! Never buy this stock its doomed!
Scoop: BuzzFeed limits hiring after rough public debut
BuzzFeed is limiting hiring to only critical positions, and will not be adding any new jobs unless there's a business-case justification, CEO Jonah Peretti told staff last week.
Why it matters: BuzzFeed is under pressure to preserve cash after a high level of redemptions from SPAC investors ahead of its IPO merger in December.
BuzzFeed raised only around $16.2 million of investor cash in its IPO, alongside $150 million of debt.
The company also lowered revenue guidance for the full year in 2021, citing a slowdown to its retail business, per a regulatory filing.
Without growing its profit margins, the company won't as easily be able to afford future acquisitions, which Peretti has noted are a key part of the company's long-term growth and vision.
Details: Peretti blamed the economy, as well as the integration of Complex Networks into the company, for the decision, according to messages seen by Axios.
BuzzFeed was initially projecting around $95 million in revenue from commerce sales for 2021. It's now projecting a high-teens percentage increase in commerce sales year-over-year, as opposed to 60% year-over-year, due to pandemic-related supply chain issues slowing retail sales.
The integration of Complex Networks is likely to result in the consolidation of the two companies' administrative functions. BuzzFeed named Complex Networks chief Christian Baesler as its new chief operating officer in January.
Between the lines: Axios spoke with staffers who said a hiring slowdown caught them off-guard, especially after months of the company touting ambitious growth plans.
The hiring slowdown is meant to preserve cash, per a source familiar with the effort.
Some said it felt like another major signal that the company's SPAC IPO wasn't going as well as planned.
"It didn't track with anything else we've been told recently," one person said.
It's unclear how long the hiring slowdown will last.
BuzzFeed declined to comment.
Yes, but: Most media companies saw their stocks decline amid a broader market sell-off in January.
The big picture: The hiring slowdown is another stress point for employees who had to deal with a rocky start to the company's long-awaited IPO.
Ex-employees were unable to sell their sinking shares when BuzzFeed first began trading as a public company. Some employees who joined the company even before it became a "unicorn" were put underwater.
Members of BuzzFeed News' union planned a virtual walkout the same day shareholders voted on whether to take BuzzFeed public via a SPAC IPO. Sources say negotiations between the union and management are ongoing.
What to watch: BuzzFeed has yet to report its first-ever earnings results as a public company. It has yet to set an earnings release date.
Bottom line: It's a tough time to take acompany public, especially via a SPAC.
Kek, they tried the funding vehicle Trump did and failed miserably

It has been described as liberal-leaning. The site offers content posted directly on the site as well as user-generated content via video blogging, audio, and photo. In 2012, the website became the first commercially run United States digital media enterprise to win a Pulitzer Prize.
Founded by Andrew Breitbart, Arianna Huffington, Kenneth Lerer, and Jonah Peretti, the site was launched on May 9, 2005, as a counterpart to the conservative news site Drudge Report.
In March 2011, it was acquired by AOL for US$315 million, making Arianna Huffington editor-in-chief.
In June 2015, Verizon Communications acquired AOL for US$4.4 billion and the site became a part of Verizon Media.
In November 2020, BuzzFeed acquired the company. Several months after the acquisition, BuzzFeed laid off 47 HuffPost staff in the U.S. (mostly journalists) and closed down HuffPost Canada, laying off 23 staff working for the Canadian and Quebec divisions of the company.

Joe Biden Medium problem ties into Media Problem of hating their jobs pt 2
Life in the "content" industry already sucks. A small handful of people make bank while the vast majority hustle relentlessly just to hold on to the meager pay they already receive. There are staff writers at big-name publications who produce thousands of words every week and who make less than $40,000 a year for their trouble. There are permanent employees of highly prestigious newspapers and magazines who don't receive health insurance. Venues close all the time. Mourning another huge round of layoffs is a regular bonding experience for people in the industry. Writers have to constantly job hop just to try and grind out an extra $1,500 a year, making their whole lives permanent job interviews where they can't risk offending their potential bosses and peers. Many of them dream of selling that book to save themselves financially, not seeming to understand that book advances have fallen 40% in 10 years - median figure now $6,080 - and that the odds of actually making back even that meager advance are slim, meaning most authors are making less than minimum wage from their books when you do the math. They have to tweet constantly for the good of their careers, or so they believe, which amounts to hundreds of hours of unpaid work a year. Their publications increasingly strong arm them into churning out pathetic pop-culture ephemera like listicles about the outfits on Wandavision. They live in fear of being the one to lose out when the next layoffs come and the game of media musical chairs spins up once again. They have to pretend to like ghouls like Ezra Klein and Jonah Peretti and make believe that there's such a thing as "the Daily Beast reputation for excellence."
I have always felt bad for them, despite our differences, because of these conditions. And they have a right to be angry. But they don't have much in the way of self-awareness about where their anger really lies. A newsletter company hosting Bari Weiss is why you can't pay your student loans? You sure?
They'll tell you about the terrible conditions in their industry themselves, when they're feeling honest. So what are they really mad about? That I'm making a really-just-decent guaranteed wage for just one year? Or that this decent wage is the kind of money many of them dream of making despite the fact that, in their minds, they've done everything right and played by all the rules? Is their anger really about a half-dozen guys whose writing you have to actively seek out to see? (If you click the button and put in your email address, you'll get these newsletters. If you don't, you won't. So if you're a media type who hates my writing, consider just... not clicking that button.) Or do they need someplace to put the rage and resentment that grows inside them as they realize, no, it's not getting better, this is all I get?
It's true that I have, in a very limited way, achieved the new American dream: getting a little bit of VC cash. I'm sorry. But it's much much less than one half of what Felix Salmon was making in 2017 and again, it's only for one year.
You think the writers complaining in that piece I linked to at the top wanted to be here, at this place in their career, after all those years of hustling? You think decades into their media career, the writers who decamped to Substack said to themselves "you know, I'd really like to be in my 40s and having to hope that enough people will pitch in $5 a month so I can pay my mortgage"? No. But the industry didn't give them what they felt they deserved either. So they displace and project. They can hate Jesse Singal, but Jesse Singal isn't where this burning anger is coming from. Neither am I. They're so angry because they bought into a notoriously savage industry at the nadir of its labor conditions and were surprised to find that they're drifting into middle age without anything resembling financial security. I feel for them as I feel for all people living economically precarious lives, but getting rid of Substack or any of its writers will not do anything to fix their industry or their jobs. They wanted more and they got less and it hurts. This isn't what they dreamed. That's what this is really about.

HuffPost laying off 47 after acquisition by BuzzFeed
BY MYCHAEL SCHNELL - 03/09/21 01:54 PM EST
https://thehill.com/homenews/news/542357-huffpost-cutting-47-employees
BuzzFeed announced layoffs in the HuffPost newsroom on Tuesday, just three weeks after finalizing a deal to purchase HuffPost from Verizon Media.
The layoffs will affect 47 U.S. employees. BuzzFeed is also shutting down operations at HuffPost Canada later this month.
The layoffs were made to "fast-track the path to profitability," BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti told staffers according to HuffPost. Peretti said it would allow the company to break even this year and to eventually turn a profit.
The layoffs come amid a pandemic that has been devastating to many news companies, and The HuffPost Union, organized as part of the Writers Guild of America East, said it was "devastated and infuriated" by the decision.
"Today, we learned that 33 of our colleagues - nearly 30% of our unit - will be laid off," the group wrote in a statement.
"We are devastated and infuriated, particularly after an exhausting year of covering a pandemic and working from home. This is also happening less than a month after HuffPost was acquired by BuzzFeed. We never got a fair shot to prove our worth."
BuzzFeed put the finishing touches on a deal to acquire the news organization from Verizon Media on Feb. 16.
When the transaction took place, Verizon Media said the two newsrooms would operate as "separate, distinct news organizations" with their own websites and editorial staff. Peretti was tapped to lead the combined company, according to HuffPost.
In May, BuzzFeed announced that it would furlough dozens of employees at the end of the month to reduce losses, The Hill reported. However, in July, The Wrap reported that 67% percent of those furloughed were ultimately laid off.
HuffPost was co-founded in 2005 by Peretti, Arianna Huffington, Andrew Breitbart and Kenneth Lerer. The next year, Peretti started BuzzFeed.

BUZZFEED IS BUYING HUFFINGTON POST
https://www.bbc.com/news/business-55009742
>Online news and lifestyle site Buzzfeed is taking over HuffPost in a deal that brings together two of the most high-profile digital media firms.
Seller Verizon Media will become a minority shareholder in Buzzfeed as part of the deal and invest in the combined company.
The two firms will also join up for advertising and sharing content, a partnership they said would "create new revenue opportunities".
The price was not disclosed.
Buzzfeed chief executive Jonah Peretti will lead the combined business. He co-founded HuffPost, formerly known as the Huffington Post, in 2005 with publisher Arianna Huffington and started Buzzfeed a year later. HuffPost rose to prominence during the George W Bush presidency as a site for liberal bloggers, many of whom contributed for free. Buzzfeed made its name creating content like listicles and quizzes, which drew young audiences. It also brought on reporters for its news site.
Mr Peretti said the new deal would increase Buzzfeed's heft, by adding HuffPost readers to its audience and allowing it to tap into Verizon's ad network.
HuffPost is expected to remain a standalone brand, alongside other Buzzfeed sites, including Tasty and Buzzfeed News.
>"While considering opportunities to work together, naturally, Jonah and I also discussed the property he co-founded, HuffPost," said Verizon Media boss Guru Gowrappan.
>"We quickly realised BuzzFeed's strategy would complement HuffPost's roadmap, injecting it with new energy and growing the brand into the future.
>"We are deeply invested in the continued success of HuffPost and I couldn't think of a better partner to take HuffPost to the next level."

Buzzfeed aquires HuffPo from Verizon Media
>"We're excited about our partnership with Verizon Media, and mutual benefits that will come from syndicating content across each other's properties, collaborating on innovative ad products and the future of commerce, and tapping into the strength and creativity of Verizon Media Immersive," Jonah Peretti, the BuzzFeed founder and chief executive, said in a statement.
>"Verizon Media's strategy has evolved over the past two years to focus on our core strengths - ads, commerce, content and subscriptions," Guru Gowrappan, the Verizon Media chief executive, said in a statement. "We've created a powerhouse ecosystem, built on a trusted network, that delivers an end-to-end experience for consumers and advertisers. The partnership with BuzzFeed complements our road map while also accelerating our transformation and growth."
>The companies said that, as part of the arrangement, Verizon Media will become a minority shareholder in BuzzFeed.

BuzzFeed, Inc. will purchase the news site HuffPost from Verizon Media as part of a stock deal, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
A person familiar with the deal told the newspaper that Verizon Media will invest an undisclosed amount of cash into BuzzFeed as part of a larger agreement in which Verizon Media will own a minority stake in BuzzFeed and the two companies will collaborate on advertising and content opportunities.
Jonah Peretti, BuzzFeed's current CEO, will lead both outlets. However, HuffPost's day-to-day operations will not change, and the site will remain a "separate news organization" from BuzzFeed News, BuzzFeed's Editor-in-Chief Mark Schoofs told employees.

Name of baby: Ingrid Mila
Father of baby: Count Ferdinando Brachetti Peretti, oil tycoon and chair of API Group
Mother of baby: Nicole Junkerman, entrepreneur and advisor to British govt on technology.
Godmother: Princess Sophie of Asburgo
Godfather: the baby's brother, Cosmo, born to the Count and his first wife, Princess Mafalda of Assia
Followed by a list of glitterati, who were treated to a special showing of the film-spectacular about Michelangelo in a theater nearby [which the Count must have paid for, I don't believe it is connected to the Vatican].
Unless I'm missing something, I don't there's anything to see here.

Ugo Maria Brachetti Peretti (born July 8, 1965, Rome) is an Italian oil executive. ..His father, Count Aldo Maria Brachetti Peretti, Cavaliere Del Lavoro was the head of the family group, Anonima Petroli Italiana (API) for thirty years, until his retirement in September 2007. The company was founded by his maternal grandfather Cavaliere Del Lavoro Ferdinando Peretti. His mother, Mila Peretti,[1] is the National Inspectress of the Italian Red Cross, which she has served for over 30 years. She is the only woman in Italy to carry the military grade of General. In 2005 Peretti married the Countess Isabella Borromeo Arese Taverna.
He was educated at the American Community School in London where he graduated in 1983 with an international Baccalaureate degree and then qualified for a degree in Business Administration at the American University of Rome in 1987. He subsequently obtained his specialization at Boston University. He completed his military service as an officer of the Carabinieri.
After 1990 he started working as a manager in the family business of which he and his brothers are 100% shareholders. During his time with API he has held many positions, at first operating the "downstream cycle" (a combination of activities such as deliveries, transportation, refining, sale and marketing of oil). In 2007, after a series of promotions, he became Chairman of the company.[2] In this capacity, he focused the Group's activities back to the oil sector, with the strengthening of the distribution network and the improvement of the Falconara refinery.[3] He holds several other chairs, vice-chairs and advisory positions within API as well as being a member of the boards at UniCredit, the Executive Council of the "Rome Industrial Union" and Unione Petrolifera.

The Gendarmerie Corps of Vatican City State (Italian: Corpo della Gendarmeria dello Stato della Città del Vaticano) is the gendarmerie, or police and security force, of Vatican City and the extraterritorial properties of the Holy See.
In 1816, after the dissolution of the Napoleonic empire, Pope Pius VII founded the Papal Carabinieri Corps for the service of the Papal States.

Beatrice dei Principi Borromeo Arese Taverna (born 18 August 1985 in San Candido)[5] is a member of the ancient aristocratic House of Borromeo, and she is well known in the Italian news media as a television personality. She is the wife of Pierre Casiraghi, younger son of Caroline, Princess of Hanover…
Through her father she is related to Carlo Borromeo (1538-1584), who became a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, Archbishop of Milan, and a canonized saint. The family currently owns most of the Borromean Islands in the Lago Maggiore, Milan city, and many other estates in the Lombardy and Piedmont countryside .

The best-known members of the family were the cardinals and Archbishops of Milan; Carlo (1538-1584), who was canonized by Pope Paul V in 1610, and Federico (1564-1631), who founded the Ambrosian Library. The figure of the Borromean rings, which forms part of the family's coat of arms, is well known in the diverse fields of topology, psychoanalysis and theology.

Ferdinando Maria Brachetti Peretti (born in Rome on January 13 1960), from the wealthy Brachetti Peretti family, is Chairman and CEO of an Italian energy company, API Group.
Brachetti Peretti's father, Count Aldo Maria Brachetti Peretti, was for thirty years, until September 2007, head of the family Group "API" (Anonima Petroli Italiana), founded by his maternal grandfather Cav. Del Lavoro Ferdinando Peretti.[citation needed] His mother, Mila, worked for more than 30 years in the Red Cross and is the only woman in Italy to carry the military grade of General.

Umm wow. Well I see why that voat was taken down. I just had my first chance to look at the thread.
So let me get this straight. Epstein pal Nicole Junkerman(spook history) is married to a former General of the Italian Carabineiri and the head of API group Ferdinando Brachetti Peretti. Gets more interesting. His mother was the only female General ever in the Italian armed forces as head of the Italian Red Cross w 30 years of service. Vatican City is also under the protection of the Carabinieri by the way. So this info tied Epstein's trafficking operation to the Red Cross and the Vatican. Nicole Junkerman and Ferdinando Brachetti Peretti are names that shouldn't soon be forgotten by us. There is more here anons.

So a dig brought me to a dig that brought me Roy Halston Frowick, or better known as simply, Halston.
Halston one of the most influential fashion designers 60s and the 70s. Two giant claims to fame. He made those iconic hats Jackie Kennedy is known for. And secondly he put his stamp on the bunny/rabbit ears. Like Michael Jordan brought in baggy shorts Halston made bunny ears cool. I attached just some of the thousand of bunny ears designs he made. His most famous bunny ear costume is a photo with a chick named Elsa Peretti. This halston like a good candidate for a dig.

Newfag, first post. Not sure if this has already been covered, but stumbled across it today and thought it was interesting.
Buzzfeed co-founder and CEO, Jonah Peretti is married to a lady by the name of Andrea Harner. Peretti's wiki page describes her as a "blogger", but turns out she's on the board of an NGO called DARKNESS TO LIGHT. If that didn't get your attention, then check out what they do, quote "EMPOWERING ADULTS TO PREVENT CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE".
Also on the board is one Jamie Tozzi, who is a GM at Microsoft, and is married to Jeff Tozzi, a VP at Microsoft.
Not sure if this leads anywhere, but thought it was worth raising.

BuzzFeed CEO: Big Tech Companies Having 'Huge Problem' Controlling Content
BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti claimed Big Tech companies are having a "huge problem" controlling content on their platforms, and declared, "We can't just police bad content, we have to produce good content," during a speech at SXSW, Friday.
According to the Austin Chronicle, Peretti acknowledged that media outlets like BuzzFeed "have had to reduce costs and staff," but reportedly claimed the situation was improving.
Peretti also claimed that "Tech platforms are having a huge problem with the content on their platforms," explaining, "They don't make the content and are having trouble controlling the content."
"We've never been more connected, but we've never felt more divided," declared Peretti, claiming that the problems with digital media have now spread to tech companies.

The best part about the destruction of the MSM is that there are many unhappy journalists out there who have to keep their heads down and mouths shut to keep food on the table. A few of those journalists are going to form the new media going forward and their first big stories are going to be THE STORM and the TRUTH behind the MSM. That alone is going to be GLORIOUS!

BuzzFeed Staff Eviscerate CEO Jonah Peretti over Handling of Mass Layoffs
BuzzFeed staffers blasted CEO Jonah Peretti as the embattled media organization began laying off dozens of journalists, according to a report.
According to Slack messages leaked to the Daily Beast, furious employees bombarded Peretti with questions amid reports it had let go of 43 people, axing several national security and entertainment reporters.
The company's chief executive ticked off employees after suggesting it would be "good idea" for employees to bring their pets to work next week, prompting one angry staffer to respond: "What if instead of letting people bring in dogs we paid out peoples' PTO in all states, not just California?"
"I strongly suggest you receive some outside training on how to conduct this," another employee told Peretti. "It is dire to watch this occur and it is dire to observe the same mistakes over and over."
In a Wednesday memo announcing the layoffs, Peretti told employees he hoped the reduction in headcount would keep BuzzFeed from seeking additional outside money from investors. "Unfortunately, revenue growth by itself isn't enough to be successful in the long run. The restructuring we are undertaking will reduce our costs and improve our operating model so we can thrive and control our own destiny, without ever needing to raise funding again," he wrote. "These changes will allow us to be the clear winner in the market as the economics of digital media continue to improve." Despite raising hundreds of millions of dollars and its synergies with Comcast's NBCUniversal, the media organization has failed to make a profit in the last few years.
"This is the second time in less than six months that such mass layoffs have been leaked and subsequent management of said leaks and their fallout have been inadequate, bordering on cruel," another employee said in Slack.
"After hearing 'It was never our intention to manage communications around layoffs this way' several times through this Slack and other generic messages, I'm kind of curious now - What was the plan to respectfully let go some of the most talented smart hard working journalists producers writers and creatives in the industry?" asked another annoyed staffer.
Other employees wondered how management's handling of the layoffs could hurt it from attracting top talent in the future. "If the company is to exist after all of this, how does it plan to recruit? Who would take the risk of joining a company that has handled some of the most talented, innovative, and creative people in such a way?" said the unnamed employee.
The layoffs came as another struggling digital media company - the Huffington Post - let go of dozens of staffers as part of its parent company Verizon Media Group's restructuring plans. Politico's Michael Calderone reports at least 15 unionized staffers were fired from the left-wing news website, which also included the elimination of its opinion section.

Comedian Kevin Barnett dead at 32 He was just in Mexico this last weekend

New York-based stand-up comedian Kevin Barnett has died. He was 32.
Barnett's passing was first announced by The Stand comedy club on Tuesday. Chelsea Peretti retweeted the news and added, "I am so sad." The Last Podcast Network, which hosted the podcast "The Roundtable of Gentlemen," in which Barnett participated, also released a statement on social media.
"Dear Last Podcast family, It's with a heavy heart we inform you of the passing of Kevin Barnett," the statement read. "The joy he brought to our lives is the greatest gift we have ever received. Remind your friends you love them because you never know when you'll see them again. We love you KB."
Fellow comedian Yannis Pappas also tweeted his condolences, writing, "RIP another comedian who was a great dude. Seriously a great dude. @Fatboybarnett rest easy Kevin."
Details surrounding Barnett's death weren't immediately released, and his reps didn't immediately return Page Six's request for comment.
Barnett, who served as a writer on "Broad City," posted a photo of himself in Mexico over the weekend and joked he had been accused of cultural appropriation because of his attire.
"In mexico. Bought myself a sweater. Been accused of appropriation several times. In my head I just gave a lady some money so I ain't cold. Either way. Swag heavy. Mixtape comin," he wrote.
Does not mention the cause of death. The twitter user that is "sad" is a anti-Trump cunt. https://twitter.com/chelseaPeretti

BuzzFeed CEO Spoofed Prominent Gun Rights Activist To Spread Disinformation
Mon, 01/21/2019 - 21:10
Long before BuzzFeed was publishing unverified dossiers and anti-Trump claims refuted by Robert Mueller, founder and CEO Jonah Peretti created a fake website and email address in the name of prominent gun rights advocate John Lott in order to spread disinformation.
Peretti, then-director at Brooklyn-based technology nonprofit Eyebeam, used Lott's name in 2003 to trick people into thinking that Lott had changed his mind on a key piece of gun-rights legislation that protected gun makers from abusive lawsuits designed to put them out of business.

Hard Times: Left-Wing New Media Look to Mergers, Paywalls, Selling Companies
Vice, Vox, BuzzFeed, HuffPost, and other left-wing digital outlets are struggling in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
While smaller left-wing outlets, like Mic, Lena Dunham's Lenny Letter, Refinery29, Rookie, and the anti-Trump Weekly Standard are either closed, closing, or going through massive overhauls to stop the bleeding of red ink, the big players on the left - the aforementioned Vice, Vox, and Buzzfeed - no longer look like sure things.
Even HuffPost is looking at adding a paywall.
Vanity Fair writes that these "companies, which once heralded the dawn of a new media age-replete with massive valuations, large fund-raising hauls, and millennial sex appeal-now appeared to exhibit some traits of the brands that they once attempted to disrupt."
Today they find themselves "large, less nimble, and increasingly vulnerable to Facebook and Google. They seemed virtually encircled by competitors familiar and new."
"On one side" up-and-comers like "Axios, TheSkimm, Crooked Media, and the Athletic" are smaller, but have so far avoided relying on Facebook and Google "by monetizing their direct relationships with consumers."
On the other side are "revitalized shit-kicking legacy players, such as The New York Times and The Washington Post, who were converting subscribers at unforeseen levels in the Trump era."
Of course, this is all about ad revenue, which Facebook and Google continue to try to swallow whole.
As a result, "BuzzFeed's Jonah Peretti recently floated in the pages of The New York Times the quixotic notion of a multi-company merger between BuzzFeed, Vice, Vox Media, Group Nine Media, and Refinery29, as a means to rival the Facebook-Google ad duopoly."
But in reaction to that idea, "one prominent founder and C.E.O. wondered whether there was 'a problem for the whole space,' or 'a problem for a handful of companies that really over-raised and over-expected and are now trying to re-adjust.'"
He pointed out to Vanity Fair that "Consumer spending is up, and billions of dollars are being sunk into content, this executive noted, and yet 'you have this little pocket of the universe looking desperate.'"
Part of the problem, although Vanity Fair does not mention this, is conformity. What do Buzzfeed, Vice, and Vox offer that you cannot get anywhere - everywhere - else?
The media world - meaning, all of it: digital, television, and print - is buried under left-wing progressives snarking at Trump, attacking the political right as backwards racists, and pursing socialism in the name of social justice. This social and ideological conformity, this cult-like adherence to the same talking points, has not only made all of these sites exactly alike, they have also become predictable and, by extension, uninteresting.

EXCLUSIVE: "The secret deals which shaped our lives: How big businesses got together to make sure your light bulb wouldn't last, you'd always want a newer car, and you'd always go back on a diet. Peretti also lifts the lid on the invention of the multi-billion-dollar diet industry, which came about after a health insurance clerk was struggling to keep up his numbers."

More and more of the outlets from which Americans get their information are being filled not just with garden variety establishment loyalists, but with longstanding members of the US intelligence community. These men got to their positions of power within these deeply sociopathic institutions for their willingness to facilitate any depravity in order to advance the secret agendas of the US power establishment, and now they're being paraded in front of mainstream Americans on cable news on a daily basis. The words of these "experts" are consistently taken and reported on by smaller news outlets in print and online media in a way that seeds their authoritative assertions throughout public consciousness.
As we discussed recently, the term "deep state" does not refer to a conspiracy theory but to a simple concept in political analysis which points to the undeniable reality that (A) plutocrats, (B) intelligence agencies, (C) defense agencies, and (D) the mainstream media hold large amounts of power in America despite their not being part of its elected government. You don't need to look far to see how these separate groups overlap and collaborate to advance their own agendas in various ways. Amazon's Jeff Bezos, for example, is deeply involved in all of the aforementioned groups: (A) as arguably the wealthiest person ever he is clearly a plutocrat, with a company that is trying to control the underlying infrastructure of the economy, (B) he is a CIA contractor, (C) he is part of a Pentagon advisory board, and (D) his purchase of the Washington Post in 2013 gave him total control over a major mainstream media outlet.
Jeff Bezos did not purchase the Washington Post because his avaricious brain predicted that newspapers were about to make a profitable resurgence, he purchased it for the same reason he has inserted himself so very deeply into America's unelected power infrastructure: he wants to ensure a solid foundation for the empire he is building. He needs a potent propaganda outlet to manufacture support for the power establishment that he is weaving his plutocratic tentacles through. This is precisely the same reason other mass media-controlling plutocrats are stocking their propaganda machines with intelligence community insiders.

BuzzFeed NYC Holiday Party Becomes a Covid Superspreader Event, Several Employees Infected: Insider
Dec 16th, 2021
Several BuzzFeed staffers have been infected with Covid-19 following the company's Holiday party in Manhattan last week, according to a report from Insider.
Three BuzzFeed employees who tested positive following the party told Insider that they were vaccinated and received their booster shots prior to contracting Covid-19 at the event, and are experiencing mild symptoms.
The outbreak also comes as Covid-19 cases have risen in New York City due to the Omicron variant.
BuzzFeed has reportedly strengthened Covid-19 protocols following the party and amid the surge of cases in New York City, including putting a temporary freeze on group meetings over six people, requiring masks in the office until further notice, and freezing all non-essential business travel until the new year.
The company is also conducting contact tracing, as well as offering free testing for close contacts.
The party, held on Dec. 10 at the Starrett-Lehigh building in Manhattan, was attended by employees from BuzzFeed's New York and Washington offices, in addition to employees from HuffPost, which BuzzFeed acquired last year.
One of the positive staffers told Insider that they became aware that they had been exposed after BuzzFeed's in-house contact tracing team notified them that they had been in contact with a positive case.
"The communication referenced that the contact might have been at BuzzFeed's New York office, the holiday party, or at a group gathering in Los Angeles the prior weekend," added Insider's Steven Perlberg. "Another of the COVID-positive employees estimated that there were about 10 cases they knew of. This staffer said they were aware of five or six other staffers who currently feel sick and are awaiting test results."
BuzzFeed's head of global real estate, office services, and security, reportedly sent an email to employees on Thursday, writing, "With COVID positive cases rising across the US, we now have a number of known full-time and freelance employees who have tested positive in recent days."
The email went on to say that staffers who had close contact with a positive case were able to take a same-day PCR test at the BuzzFeed offices in New York or Los Angeles, while those not located near an office could get the cost of their tests reimbursed by the company.
"BuzzFeed requires vaccinations for staffers, and partygoers had to present their vaccination cards to get into the event," Perlberg reported, noting that CEO Jonah Peretti was in attendance. "Two days before the party, BuzzFeed updated its rules to require masks 'unless you are actively eating or drinking.'"

Referenced Vanity Fair article. It references Nicole's father, but curiously, doesn't give his name:

(In Italian)
Nicole Brachetti Peretti is an antidote to those who allow themselves to be guided by stereotypes. So blonde and with that perch it is easy to fall into the temptation of thinking that she has dedicated her whole life to being a model and that, after marrying an Italian count and having a daughter, she lives for her family and her social life. Nothing is further from reality.
At age 12, Nicole - born Junkermann in Düsseldorf and raised in Marbella - performed her first job, was a translator for her father on a business trip. Time later it maintains its perfect Castilian, dyed with a slight German-Andalusian accent. But her baptism of fire as a businesswoman emerged one day watching a football game - she is a fan of Real Madrid. While writing her thesis, the student then thought that there was no reason to wait for the title and created the online gaming platform Winamax. In 2002 he co-founded Infront Sports and Media, which he sold in 2011, for 650 million euros. Later, he invested in Really Sports, one of the most important sports stores in China, and two years later created the venture capital fund United in Sports. Currently, Nicole directs NJF Holdings, based in London, and has collaborated in investments with personalities from Silicon Valley such as Eric Schmidt -Google- or Peter Thiel -Paypal-.
He welcomes us in his house, located in the epicenter of the city of London. It comes as if such a thing, with wet hair and without a drop of makeup. It's only nine o'clock in the morning, but with German discipline he has already covered part of his routine. He got up at six to meditate. "In a world where we are bombarded with so much information, I find it fundamental," he says. Normally, she will also run before reading the newspapers and having breakfast with her husband, Count Ferdinando Brachetti Peretti, and her one-year-old daughter, Vita. Ferdinando is the president and CEO of the Italian energy company Gruppo Api / IP and his family has the Il Pollenza vineyards. "I like that Vita can grow up surrounded by the traditional values ??of our family," she says. This morning, she wore a silver bracelet created by her husband's aunt, Elsa Peretti, the designer of Tiffany & Co. and New York legend of the era of Studio 54, where she rubbed shoulders with Andy Warhol, Halston. and Liza Minnelli while she triumphed as a model and was photographed by Helmut Newton.

Nicole Junkermann is a German entrepreneur and investor. She was born in Düsseldorf and now lives in London. She is the founder of NJF Holdings, which includes NJF Capital, NJF Private Equity, NJF Real Estate and The JJ Collection.
She appears on Epstein's flight log on the following dates/destinations:
"During her time at Infront Sports and Media, Junkermann would be caught flying on Jeffrey Epstein's "Lolita Express" on three occasions. The first flight recorded, on 22nd March 2002, she would share with Epstein, Sean Koo, and one other passenger."
August 31, 2002 - from Paris Le Bourget to Birmingham, England
September 2, 2002 - from Birmingham, England to Paris Le Bourget
Apparently VERY unusual for Epstein to travel with only one other passenger.
Wealthy on her own, with some activity in the gaming community
Married a wealthy Italian count:
"The marriage between Count Ferdinando Brachetti Peretti and Miss Nicole Junkermann took place on Friday 24 March 2017 at the Campidoglio Civil Registry Office in Rome."
http://announcements.telegraph.co.uk/marriages/219028/count-f.m.-brachetti-Peretti-and-miss-n.-junkermann
I'm wondering what was going on in Birmingham, England between Aug 31 - Sept 2, 2002.
No other passengers
Search not turning up much of interest in B'ham UK in 2002 other than the Queen's Golden Jubilee
Need to dig more from the crumbs in the original article.
She's involved with FIFA, a whole bunch of other orgs, and via that Italian count husband, probably the Italian swamp.
Significantly, she is a board member at Carbyne
Carbyne's chairman of that board is former Israeli PM (also former Israeli intel) Ehud Barak
Same Ehud Barak who was seen creeping in and out of Epstein's NY townhouse wearing the peculiar hat.
Carbyne is in the business of scraping tons of data from smartphones and, ostensibly, streaming them directly to what they call "emergency services". This is said to allow 911 call centers (and similar worldwide) to better serve emergency callers.
Carbyne's tech would allow other parties full access to any function of anyone's phone, basically.
Its board is loaded with multiple Israeli intelligence agents.
"It seems that Nicole Junkermann has some serious partners, and it makes me wonder whether or not Jeffrey Epstein's original meeting with the then recently graduated Junkermann was as a recruiter for the Mossad."
In 2002, Nicole had just graduated from Harvard Business School.
Epstein had been cultivating a high-profile relationship with Harvard, and in 2003, he gave them $30 million.
If one Ghislaine is good, two must be better.
"Nicole Junkermann has become more powerful over the past eight years, and I have seen negative information relating to her previous scandals being removed from the search results. Go check yourself. Type in Nicole Junkermann on Google search and go through all the articles which appear. They are overwhelmingly positive, or simply relate to one of her businesses, and this is very different to what you would have found only a few years ago. When I first started investigating Nicole Junkermann, there were many negative articles which have all but vanished."
Author's conclusion was that Epstein was working for multiple intel agencies, with Mossad in the #1 spot.
Pic related of Junkermann and husband Peretti
"Ferdinando Brachetti Peretti and Nicole Junkermann attends Tiffany & Co. celebration of the opening of its new store in Rome at at Villa Aurelia on May 11, 2016 in Rome, Italy."
Peretti:
"In March 2017 Brachetti Peretti married entrepreneur and investor Nicole Junkermann.[11] They have a daughter, Vita, born in December 2017.[12] Brachetti Peretti was formerly married to Princess Mafalda Margarethe von Hessen, daughter of Prince Moritz of Hesse and Princess Tatiana of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. They have two sons, Cosmo and Briano. Von Hessen and Brachetti Peretti were divorced in 2014."
.... 45 minutes go by
Hang on. Just found the Vanity Fair article that goes with the pic of her attached. It's resisting Google Translate, so I'll do it a few paragraphs at a time & put in next post.

'''BuzzFeed Caught Using 'Woke' AI To Write Its Articles'''
Far-left outlet BuzzFeed has been caught using woke AI technology to generate articles amid declining readership and revenue.
The company admitted earlier this year that it would start publishing "AI-assisted content," according to CEO Jonah Peretti, who insisted that the tech would be held to a high standard.
"I think that there are two paths for AI in digital media," Peretti declared. "One path is the obvious path that a lot of people will do - but it's a depressing path - using the technology for cost savings and spamming out a bunch of SEO [search engine optimized] articles that are lower quality than what a journalist could do, but a tenth of the cost."
