DEVELOPING: Biden DOJ Serves House Sergeant at Arms with Grand Jury Subpoena
Biden's Justice Department on Monday served the House Sergeant at Arms a grand jury subpoena for documents.
"House of Representatives Sergeant at Arms William McFarland announced his office was served a grand jury subpoena by the Justice Department, sparking a wave of theories on social media Monday afternoon," Newsweek reported.
"McFarland formally notified House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, of a subpoena on Monday," according to Newsweek.
It is unclear what the subpoenaed documents are related to or what the grand jury is investigating.
"This is to notify you formally pursuant to rule 8 of the rules of the House of Representatives that the office of the sergeant at arms for the House of Representatives has been served with a grand jury subpoena for documents issued by the U.S. Department of Justice," House Reading Clerk Susan Cole said on Monday.
Some speculated the grand jury subpoena is related to the January 6 Capitol protest.
"I am hearing other potential reasons for this but Rep. Loudermilk did say his committee wanted to interview Paul Irving, Pelosi's sergeant at arms on Jan 6 who resigned the next day. (The committee has not yet interviewed him)" investigative reporter Julie Kelly said.
"Irving and Michael Stenger, McConnell's SAA, repeatedly denied requests for National Guardsmen on Jan 6 including on that day." Julie Kelly said. "As I said, this could relate to something else but since DOJ is involved it is safe to assume a sinister purpose."

Nancy Pelosi Owns January 6
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi impeached President Donald Trump in January for her own negligence. As demonstrators flocked to the nation's capital for a day of protest - some peaceful, some not - the ignored possibility of unrest chalked up to an intelligence failure was even predicted by the Capitol Hill parking attendants.
"Due to the possibility of large scale public protests, access to the Capitol plaza will be restricted," read an email from the House Parking Team on the eve of the riot. "For the safety and security of personnel on the House campus, we ask that staff strongly consider parking in the Cannon and Longworth House Underground Garages."
But Pelosi and her team in charge of Capitol security had no idea to prepare for the possibility of turmoil? Worse, reporting shows the speaker's office deliberately left the Capitol vulnerable.
Four days after the riot, former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund, who resigned his post in the aftermath, told The Washington Post his request for pre-emptive reinforcement from the National Guard ahead of Jan. 6 was turned down. Sund said House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving, overseen by Pelosi, thought the guard's deployment was bad "optics" two days before the raid. Pelosi and House Democrats had previously condemned the presence of federal troops in the nation's capital to quell the violent mobs overrunning the city in the name of social justice. …

69) The leverage that the Speaker of the House has is the funding mechanism for everything, which includes Capitol Police. What was revealed during the hearing last week was that the IG was teeing up names of individuals who were going to expose the parliamentary coup and they were immediately retaliated against to set precedent for anyone who spoke up: "If you come out with this, we'll crush you." Strikingly similar to what's being exposed thru the Weaponization committee with FBI whistleblowers.
70) There are now individuals like Tarik Johnson and Steven Sund who are in unafraid-as well as whistleblowers, more of which are going to come out. Based on Rep. Barry Loudermilk's interviews and hearings with Manger, it would appear that members of Congress have requested more information from MPD, the National Archives, and possibly call in Yogananda Pittman.
71) The IG Report is the Capitol Police board; the IG can decide whether they want to disclose information or not. The General Counsel that is still there, Tad DiBiase, needs to be brought in to ask whether he was a contributor of the list that was sent to Matt Graves to prosecute...
72) ...and what communications they had to prove beyond a reasonable doubt what occurred on January 6, 2021: the hypothesis that it was a parliamentary coup spearheaded by Nancy Pelosi and her Chief of Staff Terry McCullough, Staff Advisor Jamie Fleet, Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving, Yogananda Pittman, Alexandra Pelosi, among others.
73) Former Capitol Police officer Tarik Johnson's public written statements that are signed would corroborate this hypothesis.

THREAD: Why was Tucker Carlson really fired from Fox News?
May 27, 2023, 3:37 PM
''https://truthsocial.com/@therealtoriabrooke/posts/110441991975780498''
1) THREAD: Why was Tucker Carlson really fired from Fox News?
Is it possible that Fox did not truly settle with Dominion Voting Systems, but perhaps bribed Dominion for nearly $800M in a settlement. What if, it was agreed upon that Tucker would be gone so that Fox News could be used as the platform to solidify the outcome of whatever they bribed Dominion to create: For example, to propose that Pence or DeSantis would be deemed the winner of the Primary or General Election?
2) The electoral system has to make an outcome, and that's controlled by the voting machines system, but the court of public opinion has to believe that the results are legitimate. How does the media achieve this? One avenue is through Fox. The way in which entities could make it a legal electoral heist is to change the laws of the state legislatures to remove the ability to appeal it.
3) Enter in January 6. In order to understand what occurred on January 6, 2021, you must understand the legal framework of the Capitol Police Force. This is a critical part in understanding how certain individuals may have had the ability to "outmaneuver" law-abiding citizens in what could be coined as a potential "Parliamentary Coup."
4) Title 2 of the United States Code Section 1967 outlines the jurisdictional limitations of the U.S. Capitol Police. This section here includes the concurrent jurisdictions of U.S. Capitol along with Metropolitan Police Departments. Within that broader concurrent jurisdiction area there are two sites that are of importance: The DNC and the RNC. Why? Because that's where pipe bombs were placed.
5) Then there is a second concurrent jurisdiction zone between the U.S. Capitol Police and U.S. Park Police that fall under the Department of the Interior. Knowing that the U.S. Police Capitol Complex is under unilateral jurisdiction by the U.S. Capitol Police by itself, meaning the Capitol, the House offices, the Senate offices, the Library of Congress buildings, and the Supreme Court campus, are all out there unstaffed. This is crucial.
6) The other legal component to be aware of in order to understand J6, and how it played out is the Capitol Police org: the individuals that make up the group, how they are selected, and to understand where their loyalties are politically. Capitol Police Force consists of four people: the Senate Sergeant at Arms, the House Sergeant at Arms, the Architect of the Capitol (which has the same jurisdiction to cover the office buildings), and the fourth non-voting member is the Capitol Police Chief.
7) Any decision such as requesting additional support from outside entities and agencies to defend the Capitol in the event that there is a big event, is made at the request of the Capitol Police Chief; but he doesn't have the full authority to make and approve the request. That has to come from the Capitol Police Force; two of the three voting members. The Capitol Police Chief doesn't count because he doesn't vote: he/she is an ex oficio member of the board to "know what's going on."
8) The question should be: Who appoints the House Sergeant at Arms, and who appoints the Senate Sergeant at Arms, and who appoints the Architect of the Capitol? The Speaker of the House appoints the House Sergeant at Arms. The Senate Majority Leader appoints the Senate Sergeant at Arms. The President of the United States appoints the Architect of the Capitol, and the appointment is confirmed by the Senate.
9) Now, let's get into who appointed aforementioned members prior to January 6, 2021 so we can extrapolate their loyalties based on the time of their appointment.
The Senate Sergeant at Arms was Mitch McConnell's Michael C. Stenger, who later died before he was going to testify when he said he had more evidence related to January 6, 2021.
10) One thing that raises questions is if one of Mitch McConnell's primary employees died, would McConnell have wanted to have a ceremony? Or something commemorating his service. What happened instead? Not a peep from anyone in the Capitol Complex. Let's set that aside.
11) After communicating with very senior officials that would be in the know, Stenger's leadership style was nonexistent. It was more so, "Listen, you were told to do this, cooperate."
12) On the House side, Speaker John Boehner appointed Paul D. Irving as the House Sergeant at Arms. When Paul Ryan became Speaker of the House, his House Sergeant at Arms was Paul D. Irving. When Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House, her House Sergeant at Arms was Paul Irving.
13) As a point of reference, John Boehner and Paul Ryan were both campaigning for Liz Cheney in the Primary Election in Wyoming, who subsequently became a member of the J6 "Coverup" Committee. Paul D. Irving was the House Sergeant at Arms on January 6, 2021.

House Republicans issued a scathing report exposing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her role in security and intelligence failures at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Emails and text messages from Pelosi's office reveal her staff held regular meetings discussing security detail, helped edit authorities' plans, and turned down several requests from federal law enforcement needed to protect the Capitol on that day.
"Days after Pelosi's Jan. 6 select committee recommended insurrection charges against former president Donald Trump over the Capitol riot, Republicans have hit back with a counter-investigation apportioning blame for the internal security breakdown on Jan. 6 to Pelosi and a dysfunctional Capitol Police intelligence division," New York Post reported.
The New York Post reported:
"Leadership and law enforcement failures within the U.S. Capitol left the complex vulnerable on January 6, 2021," says the report, which is based on a trove of texts and email messages, and testimony from Capitol Police leaders and rank-and-file officers.
House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving, who answered to Pelosi as one of three voting members of the Capitol Police Board, "succumbed to political pressures from the Office of Speaker Pelosi and House Democrat leadership," was "compromised by politics and did not adequately prepare for violence at the Capitol."
Pelosi and her staff "coordinated closely" with Irving on security plans for the Joint Session of Congress on Jan. 6, but Republicans were deliberately left out of "important discussions related to security."
And, in an apparent attempt to hide from Republicans the fact that they were being excluded from discussions, Irving asked a senior Democratic staffer to "act surprised" when he sent "key information about plans for the Joint Session on Jan. 6, 2021, to him and his Republican counterpart."
The staffer replied sardonically: "I'm startled!"
The report also claims that "staff within the House Sergeant at Arms office emailed Paul Irving that January 6th was Pelosi's fault," although it provides no evidence for the assertion.
The report said that the Speaker's office "helped edit authorities' plans, and turned down several requests from federal law enforcement needed to protect the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.
"Reps. Jim Banks (R-IN), Rodney Davis (R-IL), Troy Nehls (R-TX), Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) independently published a 141-page investigative report on Wednesday outlining what they describe as House Democratic leadership and Capitol authorities' failures that left the complex vulnerable," it said.
"Democrats and the Jan. 6 Committee used the Capitol Police as a political prop, then did nothing when USCP officers were harassed for telling the truth. They should be ashamed," Rep. Banks, who led the investigation after he was banned from participating in the January 6 Select Committee, said to The Federalist.

Journalist Reveals Senate Passed Secret Measure In December That Further Confirms Pelosi Was "Queen of the Mob" On January 6th
The Gateway Pundit has reported consistently on Pelosi's culpability for the events on January 6th and how she escaped legal and moral accountability. PJ Media on Sunday released an article further confirming that Pelosi was the main person responsible for the riot.
Victoria Taft, the author of the piece, revealed senators passed a measure on December 12 removing Pelosi's authority to call out the National Guard. The responsibility was instead handed over to the Capitol Police.
We all know how badly the Capitol Police botched the handling of the riot, ignoring several warnings and refusing to call in backup. Imagine if Pelosi could have summoned the National Guard with a simple phone call.
But the Senate removed her power altogether. They almost certainly knew Pelosi had no intention of calling in the Guard and may have even wanted the January 6th riot to happen altogether so she could impeach Donald Trump and try to bar him from ever holding office again.
Here are the key parts from Taft's enlightening article:
A little-noticed bill passed before Christmas shows that the U.S. Senate knows Nancy Pelosi had more to do with the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6, 2021, than anything President Trump did that day. Indeed, Nancy Pelosi could be crowned Queen of the Mob, since her actions led to the crashing of the perimeter fences, general dysfunction, and deaths of Trump supporters that day.
Pelosi was more responsible for the marauding mob at the Capitol that day than anything President Trump did to "incite" his huge crowd of supporters - which he probably did not.
And here's how we know this.
On Monday night, December 12, senators unanimously passed a measure to remove authority for calling out the National Guard from politicians like Nancy Pelosi and gave it over to the Capitol Police.
Pelosi's office "was heavily involved in planning and decision-making before and during the events of Jan. 6, 2021, and micromanaged the Sergeant at Arms," according to texts and other communications that came to light after January 6.
From early December 2020, Pelosi aides attended regular meetings with Irving and Sund to discuss the security plan. So hands-on was Pelosi's chief of staff Terri McCullough that, at one point, she was editing details of parking, event timing and "language regarding official business visitors" for the Joint Session.
The Pelosi team's messages and posts were exposed in an investigative report by the same House Republicans Pelosi removed from the J6 Committee. The messages show how Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund begged Pelosi and the Sergeant at Arms to plus-up security. His request for help was only satisfied after the riot fizzled out.
The New York Post reported that the GOP investigation showed that "House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving, who answered to Pelosi as one of three voting members of the Capitol Police Board, 'succumbed to political pressures from the Office of Speaker Pelosi and House Democrat leadership,' was compromised by politics and did not adequately prepare for violence at the Capitol."
The House and Senate sergeant at arms and Capitol Police Chief Sund resigned their jobs after the disaster, which could have been prevented.
But in a move the same week, the Democrat-run Senate tacitly affirmed that Nancy Pelosi royally screwed up by failing to take Trump up on his offer of using the Guard and preventing what the J6 Cassandras said was worse than the Civil War or the 9/11 attacks.
If anyone deserves prison for what happened on January 6, it is Nancy Pelosi. What a corrupt and cynical woman.

Even after the one-sided January 6 Committee left Pelosi's role on the cutting room floor, there's one inescapable conclusion: If she'd done her job, there would have been no riot, no deaths of Trump supporters, no show trials, and no political prisoners sitting in solitary confinement in a D.C. gulag for two years awaiting trial. And there would have been no need for federal agents to "orchestrate" a riot.
Despite heightened threat assessments by federal authorities showing problems ahead of January 6, 2021, and the Trump Administration offering National Guard help, the people who were supposed call out the Guard, the speaker and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, wanted no Guard on scene due to optics. Bowser had battled with Trump over National Guard presence during the BLM/Antifa riots in the past and didn't want the militarized look in D.C. If she needed them at all for January 6, she decided the Guard would be unarmed and relegated to traffic control.
But in a move the same week, the Democrat-run Senate tacitly affirmed that Nancy Pelosi royally screwed up by failing to take Trump up on his offer of using the Guard and preventing what the J6 Cassandras said was worse than the Civil War or the 9/11 attacks. How incredibly insulting.
Of course, after the unrest, neither woman was held accountable for failing to act. And the aftermath of the breach was more politicized than anything we've seen since the FBI and Hillary Clinton worked with actual Russian spies to create a fiction that Trump was a Russian secret agent.
Efforts to smear the outspoken Trump lived on in the outrageously one-sided January 6 Committee proceedings and continue to this day.
After kicking off Republicans from the January 6 Committee, unprecedented in the history of our country, Pelosi also struck a deal with her hand-selected gaslighters to not be a subject of the probe. Her fingerprints were to be wiped from the proceedings.

Former Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger, who served during the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection, died on Monday, Politico reported.
No cause of death has been reported. Stenger served as sergeant-at-arms, responsible for ensuring security around the Capitol and enforcing the Senate's rules, for three years.
He resigned on Jan. 7, 2021, after receiving intense criticism for the inability of the Capitol's security to keep the rioters outside the building. The Senate sergeant-at-arms serves on the Capitol Police Board, which governs the U.S. Capitol Police, along with the House sergeant-at-arms and the architect of the Capitol.
Stenger received criticism from both Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving and Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund also resigned following the insurrection.

What Did Nancy Pelosi Know and When Did She Know It?
The January 6 select committee never intended to act as a truth-seeking mission but rather perform a cover-up for what actually happened.
By Julie Kelly
December 26, 2022
The January 6 select committee finally released its long-delayed report late on December 23 after most Americans had happily turned away from politics to enjoy the Christmas weekend with family and friends. The Friday night news dump, a common tactic when government officials want to bury something controversial, was not exactly a vote of confidence in the panel's ultimate work product.
As expected, the bulk of the 845-page document spun a well-worn tale that portrayed Donald Trump as the sole villain in a so-called "insurrection" the committee wants us to believe was engineered to keep him in the White House. Page after page included dramatic interpretations of snippets from witness testimony intended to bolster the committee's preconceived conclusions.
Analysis of how law enforcement and intelligence services failed to prepare for the "attack," a promise made by the committee in its original sell job to the public, is buried in a relatively brief appendix at the end. And despite confirmation the government was aware violence might occur-the FBI used a threat tag, "CERTUNREST2021," purportedly to categorize in advance information related to January 6-federal and local agencies did not prevent what the Biden regime branded a terror attack comparable to 9/11. (FBI Director Christopher Wray's name is not mentioned once in the report and it appears unlikely he sat for a transcribed interview.)
Even so, in the face of extensive evidence that those agencies were on high alert, committee members still faulted Trump: "Few in law enforcement predicted that the President of the United States would incite a mob attack on the Capitol, that he would send them to stop the joint session knowing they were armed and dangerous, that he would further incite them against his own vice President while the attack was underway, or that he would do nothing to stop the assault for hours," the report dishonestly stated.
Another official who escaped accountability in the report is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the lawmaker mainly responsible for protecting Capitol grounds. Committee members avoided any criticism of Pelosi, instead allowing her to write the foreword. (It's also unclear whether committee investigators interviewed the speaker.)
For two years, Pelosi has played the role of victimized bystander in the events of January 6 rather than being recognized as the incompetent steward of public safety she is-or worse, someone who was complicit in manufacturing the entire spectacle. After all, her filmmaker daughter just happened to be on site as the historic event, one usually considered a pro forma ceremony, went down.
But a competing report also released last week by a handful of Republican House members did not let Pelosi off the hook; to the contrary, "Security Failures at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021" presented new disclosures about how Pelosi's staff spent weeks ostensibly preparing for the electoral certification vote that afternoon. "[Then] House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving-who served on the Capitol Police Board by virtue of his position-succumbed to political pressures from the Office of Speaker Pelosi and House Democrat leadership leading up to January 6, 2021," the report authored by Representatives Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), James Banks (R-Ind.) and others revealed. "He coordinated closely with the Speaker and her staff and left Republicans out of important discussions related to security. Irving only provided information to Republicans after receiving instruction from the Speaker's office. In one case, Irving even asked a senior Democratic staffer to 'act surprised' when he sent key information about plans for the Joint Session on January 6, 2021 to him and his Republican counterpart. The senior Democratic staffer replied: 'I'm startled.'" (Jordan and Banks were appointed to the January 6 select committee before being bounced by Pelosi.)
According to records obtained by House Republicans, Irving maintained constant communication with two of Pelosi's top aides-Terry McCullough, her chief of staff, and Jamie Flood, a shared staffer for Pelosi and the House Administration committee-about January 6 in early December 2020.?

Text messages reveal lax security response to threat to crash plane into Capitol before Jan. 6 riot
Laissez-faire response upset some as leadership kept in dark about terror threat until media reports.
Updated: December 27, 2022 - 7:10am1 of 3
A day before the fateful Jan. 6 riot rocked the U.S. Capitol, security officials in the House and Senate received a warning of a possible aviation terror threat to the seat of Congress but shrugged off the concerns until congressional leadership found out from news media and began pressing for answers.
"Are you making any notification regarding the intel that I'm told is going public?" then-House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving texted Michael Stenger, his counterpart in the Senate, about the aviation security threat early on the evening of Jan. 5, 2021, according to text messages reviewed by Just the News.
"I am under the impression that it has been deemed aspirational," Stenger responded. "Agree, all good," said Irving.
The two didn't text again for six days, according to information put out by congressional investigators. But a short while after the exchange, CBS News would report that U.S. intelligence had made the warning to the Capitol, alerting congressional leaders who then peppered the Capitol security apparatus about why they had been kept in the dark and what was being done to address the threat, the messages show.
The powerful anecdote was contained in text messages released as part of a House GOP report on Capitol security last week, adding further evidence of a laissez-faire security apparatus inside Congress that would fail spectacularly on Jan. 6 when a rowdy, pro-Trump mob, some of whom used violence to overrun police lines, invaded the building.
You can read the full report here:
FINAL HouseGOPReport of Jan. 6 Investigation.pdf
Multiple investigations have determined that Capitol Police and congressional security officials had received extensive intelligence warning of violence on Jan. 6 and failed to create an adequate security plan, allowing worries from above about "optics" to take precedence over deploying National Guard ahead of the riot or better fortifying the building.
The House and Senate sergeants at arms and police chief all resigned in the aftermath of those failures, but there are concerns not enough reforms have been made to avert future security calamities inside the Capitol.
The newest report by GOP Reps. Rodney Davis, Jim Banks, Jim Jordan, Troy Nehls and Kelly Armstrong said the uninspired reaction to the aviation threat on Jan. 5 and the pre-Jan. 6 intelligence warnings exposed not only a reactive security mindset but also bureaucratic gridlock that spread security decision-making across the House and Senate sergeants at arms, the Capitol Police chief, the Capitol Architect and a supervisory Capitol Police Board.
Those layers of bureaucracy remain today, posing continued inefficiencies that threaten future security planning and responses, the lawmakers warned, noting that the board has "resisted calls for reform" on multiple occasions dating to 2001.
"The communications related to the aviation threat against the Capitol on January 5, 2021, show the ad hoc nature of the Board's response to security events," the lawmakers wrote in a report obtained by Just the News. "Even if the various stakeholders had attempted to proceed more deliberately, they
would have been stymied by a confusing web of authorities."
The lawmakers aren't the first to suggest the current security decision-making apparatus inside the Capitol is overly cumbersome….

the Capitol to violence that day.
The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs and the Senate
Committee on Rules and Administration conducted a bipartisan investigation in the
months after the attack. On June 8, 2021, the committees released their findings in a
joint staff report (hereinafter, Senate Report). This report supplements the Senate
Report and provides findings from the perspective of the House of Representatives
regarding those areas of inquiry that the Democrat-led investigation has thus far
ignored, specifically answering the important question of why the Capitol was left so
unprepared. This report is based on documents and communications obtained from
key witnesses, and interviews with U.S. Capitol Police leaders and rank-and-file
officers.
Many of the witnesses who spoke to investigators are U.S. Capitol Police (USCP)
sources. Some of the sources are current USCP officers and others are former
officers. Several of the sources who sat for interviews are USCP intelligence analysts
within the Intelligence and Interagency Coordination Division. Additionally,
investigators interviewed the Chief of the U.S. Capitol Police Tom Manger, the House
Sergeant at Arms William Walker, and the Assistant Director of the Intelligence and
Interagency Coordination Division Julie Farnam.
This report goes to great lengths to protect the identities of the line officers and
analysts who participated in interviews. Sources who cooperated with this
investigation described retaliation by USCP leadership for their participation in this
investigation and other investigations into the events of January 6, 2021. Additionally,
the Staff Director for the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th
Attack on the United States Capitol, David Buckley, has a track record of acting in a
retaliatory manner against whistleblowers. For those reasons, this report uses "USCP
source" to cite or otherwise refer to conversations with USCP employees who are not
in leadership positions. 2

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
There are several reasons the Capitol was left unprepared on January 6, 2021,
including internal politics and unnecessary bureaucracy. Prior to that day, the U.S.
Capitol Police (USCP) had obtained sufficient information from an array of channels
to anticipate and prepare for the violence that occurred. However, officers on the
front lines and analysts in USCP's intelligence division were undermined by the
misplaced priorities of their leadership. Those problems were exacerbated by the
House Sergeant at Arms, who was distracted from giving full attention to the threat
environment prior to January 6, 2021 by several other upcoming events.
Specifically, the leader of the USCP Intelligence and Interagency Coordination
Division failed to warn USCP leadership and line officers about the threat of violence,
despite the fact that IICD analysts gathered intelligence that clearly indicated a need
for a hardened security posture. In fact, IICD's leader-Julie Farnam-spent the weeks
leading up to January 6, 2021 attempting to overhaul the division, including by
reassigning expert intelligence analysts to new roles and creating new processes for
synthesizing threat data. Information about planned protests and threats of violence
were siloed and not properly analyzed and disseminated during this key period
because of Farnam's misplaced priorities. One IICD analyst testified to investigators:
"That unit was disbanded by her almost on day one. We, at the time of January 6, we
were not doing proactive searches of social media like we had been before. We were
strictly reactive and responding to requests for information." This is also substantiated
by USCP's own internal after-action report that was drafted in June of 2021.
Similarly, then-House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving-who served on the Capitol Police
Board by virtue of his position-succumbed to political pressures from the Office of
Speaker Pelosi and House Democrat leadership leading up to January 6, 2021. He
coordinated closely with the Speaker and her staff and left Republicans out of
important discussions related to security. As a critical member of the Capitol Police
Board, the House Sergeant at Arms had an obligation to all Members, staff, and USCP
officers to keep them safe by consulting stakeholders without partisan preference

House GOP locates emails, texts showing Pelosi office directly involved in failed Jan. 6 security
2 of 2
After the devastating events of Jan. 6 when Pelosi forced Irving to resign, a staffer in the House sergeant at arms office sent a stinging email suggesting theDemocratic leadership had made Irving and Capitol Police Chief Steve Sund the fall guys to cover up the failure of lawmakers to provided adequate security resources.
"For the Speaker's knee-jerk reaction to yesterday's unprecedented event (and God knows how Congress lives for its knee-jerk reactions and to hell with future consequences . . . ). to immediately call for your resignation . . . after you have been denied again and again by Appropriations for proper security outfitting of the Capitol (and I WROTE several of those testimonies, dangit) . . . and to blame you personally because our department was doing the best they could with what they had and our comparatively small department size and limited officer resources . . . and because other agencies stepped in to assist just a fraction too late . . . again, for Congress to demand your resignation is spectacularly unjust, unfair, and unwarranted," the staffer wrote Irving, according to the email included in the report.
"This is not your fault. Or Sund's fault. If anything, Appropriations should be hung out to dry," the staffer added.
The GOP report directly challenges the story Pelosi gave in February 2021 that she had "no power" over Capitol Police or the security plan for Jan. 6. "Documents provided by the House Sergeant at Arms show how then-House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving carried out his duties in clear deference to the Speaker, her staff, and other Democratic staff," it said.
It noted that Pelosi's chief of staff Terri McCullough and another aide assigned to Pelosi's staff, Jamie Fleet, head regular contact with police and the sergeant at arms over the security planning for Jan. 6 starting in early December 2020. At one point, McCullough was so involved she was asked to edit a security plan letter that was going to lawmakers a few days ahead of the tragic events.
"Irving sent the draft to McCullough and Fleet and requested any edits comments or concerns," the report said "McCullough responded shortly afterwards with edits."
The report faults Irving for being distracted by other responsibilities and a top intelligence official for the Capitol Police for making changes to intelligence analysis that kept front line officers from knowing the dangers they were about to face that day.
"Officers on the front lines and analysts in USCP's intelligence division were undermined by the misplaced priorities of their leadership. Those problems were exacerbated by the House Sergeant at Arms, who was distracted from giving full attention to the threat environment prior to January 6, 2021 by several other upcoming events," the report said.

House GOP locates emails, texts showing Pelosi office directly involved in failed Jan. 6 security
Democrat leadership blamed for 'knee-jerk reaction' and failing to equip police in security staffer's email after tragedy.
Holy Shit and Yippee
By John Solomon
Updated: December 21, 2022 - 3:52pm
House Republicans gathered a trove of text and email messages showing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office was directly involved in the creation and editing of the Capitol security plan that failed during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot and that security officials later declared they had been "denied again and again" the resources needed to protect one of the nation's most important homes of democracy.
The internal communications were made public Wednesday in a report compiled by House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy and Reps. Rodney Davis, Jim Banks, Troy Nehls, Jim Jordan and Kelly Armstrong that encompasses the results of months of investigation they did of evidence that had been ignored by the Democrat-led Jan. 6 committee.
The report concludes the Capitol was left vulnerable on Jan. 6 as a result of failures by the Democratic leadership in the House and law enforcement leaders in the Capitol Police who allowed concerns about the "optics" of having armed officers and National Guardsmen visible to the public to override the need for enhanced security.
"Leadership and law enforcement failures within the U.S. Capitol left the complex vulnerable on January 6, 2021. The Democrat-led investigation in the House of Representatives, however, has disregarded those institutional failings that exposed the Capitol to violence that day," it concluded.
It also corroborated prior reporting by Just the News that Capitol Police began receiving specific warnings in mid-December that there could be significant violence planned against the Capitol and lawmakers by protesters planning to attend the certification of the 2020 election results.
"Prior to that day, the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) had obtained sufficient information from an array of channels to anticipate and prepare for the violence that occurred," the report noted.
You can read the full report here:
Banks said the GOP report helps counter a Democrat narrative that ignored security failures by police and political leadership, he said.
"Our report exposes the partisanship, incompetence and indifference that led to the disaster on January 6 and it the leading role Speaker Pelosi and her office played in the security failure at the Capitol," he said. "Unlike the sham January 6th Committee, House Republicans produced a useful report that will keep out Capitol and USCP officers safe with no subpoena power and no budget."
The report also does not sugarcoat the behavior of pro-Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol. '
"On January 6, 2021, criminal rioters assaulted police officers, broke into the U.S. Capitol, damaged property, and temporarily interfered with the certification of states' presidential and vice presidential electors at the Joint Session of Congress-a typically pro forma event," it noted.
But its most explosive revelations involved text and email messages showing that two key staffers in Pelosi's office attended regular meetings to discuss the security plan for Jan. 6 dating back to early December 2020 and that Pelosi's top aide even edited some of the plans. Most of those discussions and meetings excluded Republican lawmakers in the House, the report noted.
"Then-House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving-who served on the Capitol Police Board by virtue of his position-succumbed to political pressures from the Office of Speaker Pelosi and House Democrat leadership leading up to January 6, 2021," the report said. "He coordinated closely with the Speaker and her staff and left Republicans out of important discussions related to security."… continued

EXCLUSIVE: January 6 Committee Hired Consultant Who May Have 'Huge' Conflict Of Interest
The Jan. 6 Committee hired an investigative consultant who could have a major "conflict of interest," watchdogs told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Brian Young is a senior financial investigator at the consultancy Polar Solutions Inc and a contractor for the Jan. 6 Committee, according to his LinkedIn profile and an internal congressional document obtained by the DCNF. But he is also married to House Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms (SAA) Kim E. Campbell, the second most senior official in the SAA, which like the U.S. Capitol Police is being probed by the committee for security failures in connection to the Capitol riot.
The relationship could pose "a huge conflict of interest" if Young's work involves reviewing the performance of the SAA or Capitol Police, according to Tom Jones, executive director of the watchdog American Accountability Foundation.
"Young needs to come clean about what he is doing for the J6 Committee," Jones told the DCNF. "There is no way a husband can give an independent and objective assessment of his wife's performance."
The House and Senate SAA offices coordinate with U.S. Capitol Police and are responsible for maintaining Capitol security, protecting members and overseeing emergency management. The Jan. 6 Committee is investigating "the sharing of intelligence" between federal, state and local agencies with the SAA offices and Capitol Police with regard to the Capitol riot, according to its website.
The committee is also probing the House SAA and other government offices' "systems for monitoring" intelligence on or before Jan. 6 and plans to issue both an interim and final report on its findings, conclusions and recommendations "for corrective measures."Former House SAA Paul Irving, who resigned one day after the Capitol riot, testified before the committee in February 2021 that "more has to be done" to ensure better security for the U.S. Capitol. (I bet he helped organize the insurrection of antifa, etc, why would he resign?)
Polar Solutions was paid over $93,000 in December 2021 and January 2022, according to House disbursement records. Through his job at Polar Solutions, Young provides "professional services and expertise to the Legislative Branch for Law Enforcement, National Defense and National Security," according to his LinkedIn. ($93,000 per month???? WTF)
"For this committee to utilize, in any capacity, a consultant who is literally married to a high ranking official within the SAA's office is highly inappropriate," Republican South Carolina Rep. Ralph Norman told the DCNF.
Young also at one point allegedly wrote an email to Campbell in connection to his official investigative duties with the Jan. 6 Committee, a congressional source who was briefed by a colleague on the matter told the DCNF. The DCNF did not review the contents of the alleged email.
"If it is true that he communicated with his wife about a matter involving her office, this is Ethics Conflicts 101," Michael Chamberlain, director of the watchdog Protect the Public's Trust, told the DCNF. "The reason ethics laws were enacted in the first place was to prevent precisely this type of conflict of interest from impacting government activities."
"It also raises the question of how he was even allowed to be in the position where this type of conflict could exist," said Chamberlain. "Why would those in charge of such a high profile and controversial committee jeopardize the credibility of their investigation like this? It certainly does not add to the committee's already questionable efforts."
The Jan. 6 Committee did not respond to a request for comment, nor did the House SAA office, Campbell or Young. Polar Solutions did not respond.

Jan 6 'Incitement' Timeline Debunked as Ex-Capitol Police Chief Says Pelosi, McConnell's Sergeants-at-Arms Refused Security Measures.
The Washington Post has reported that the outgoing Capitol Police Chief, Steve Sund, believes his efforts to secure the premises were undermined by a lack of concern from House and Senate security officials who answer directly to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate leader Mitch McConnell. The National Pulse can also report the Washington Post's timeline proves it was impossible for Trump speech attendees to have made it to the Capitol in time for the breach.
In addition to the fact that Trump openly called for the "cheering on" of Congressman, and "peaceful" protests, the timeline as established from numerous, establishment media reports simply doesn't stack up.
The admission that House and Senate security leaders failed to provide Capitol Police with resources on the day will raise questions over their role in the day's events.
WaPo reported late Sunday night:
Two days before Congress was set to formalize President-elect Joe Biden's victory, Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund was growing increasingly worried about the size of the pro-Trump crowds expected to stream into Washington in protest.
To be on the safe side, Sund asked House and Senate security officials for permission to request that the D.C. National Guard be placed on standby in case he needed quick backup.
But, Sund said Sunday, they turned him down.
In his first interview since pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol last week, Sund, who has since resigned his post, said his supervisors were reluctant to take formal steps to put the Guard on call even as police intelligence suggested that the crowd President Trump had invited to Washington to protest his defeat probably would be much larger than earlier demonstrations.
House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving said he wasn't comfortable with the "optics" of formally declaring an emergency ahead of the demonstration, Sund said. Meanwhile, Senate Sergeant at Arms Michael Stenger suggested that Sund should informally seek out his Guard contacts, asking them to "lean forward" and be on alert in case Capitol Police needed their help.
Irving could not be reached for comment. A cellphone number listed in his name has not accepted messages since Wednesday. Messages left at a residence he owns in Nevada were not immediately returned, and there was no answer Sunday evening at a Watergate apartment listed in his name. A neighbor said he had recently moved out.
Sund recalled a conference call with Pentagon officials and officials from the D.C. government. He said on the call: "I am making an urgent, urgent immediate request for National Guard assistance... I have got to get boots on the ground."
But the request was apparently denied over optics.
"I don't like the visual of the National Guard standing a police line with the Capitol in the background," an Army official replied.
John Falcicchio, chief of staff for D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser admitted: "Literally, this guy is on the phone, I mean, crying out for help. It's burned in my memories."

Q Research General #21082: Glorious New Week Ahead Edition
7 whoppers peddled by House Democrats' Jan. 6 committee
1. Trump incited the riot: The second impeachment of former President Trump was based on Democrats' claim that Trump incited the Capitol riot with his speech at the Jan. 6 "Stop the Steal" rally at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C. The Democrats are still promoting this claim in the Jan. 6 committee, despite abundant evidence to the contrary. The intelligence community learned more than two weeks prior to the riot that there would potentially be violence on Jan. 6. Trump didn't meet the legal threshold for incitement, and, according to the timeline of events, the Capitol was breached before Trump's speech ended.
2. The deployment of the National Guard on Jan. 6 was delayed: Both the Defense Department inspector general and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley said that the National Guard wasn't delayed in its deployment. The DOD had offered to make the National Guard available four days before the riot, but was rebuffed by then-Capitol Police Chief Steve Sund. Sund later reversed his position, but his belated request for Guard troops was denied by Senate Sergeant at Arms Michael Stenger and House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving. Trump, however, signed an order on Jan. 4 to deploy 20,000 Guardsmen if requested by Congress.
3. Ex-NYPD Commissioner Bernie Kerik was in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 5th for meeting to discuss overturning November 2020 election results: In the transmittal letter with the subpoena served to Kerik by the committee, it provided three citations with its allegation that Kerik was in the nation's capital on Jan. 5. However, none of those citations claimed that Kerik attended such a meeting. According to Kerik's phone and tollbooth records, he was in New York City for a family emergency that day. The committee later admitted that it had made "an error."
4. Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) asked Trump for a presidential pardon regarding Jan. 6th: The vice chair of the Jan. 6 panel, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), claimed that Perry "contacted the White House in the weeks after January 6th to seek a Presidential Pardon." Both Perry and Trump spokeswoman Liz Harrington disputed the claim. Perry said that he "was in the Capitol doing my legislative duties on January 6" and that "the notion that I ever sought a presidential pardon for myself, or other members of Congress, is an absolute shameless and soulless lie." Harrington said that she talked with multiple people regarding Cheney's claim about Perry, and they all said that it wasn't accurate.
5. Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) led a reconnaissance mission inside the Capitol on Jan. 5th: The Capitol Police refuted this allegation, citing an exhaustive review of security footage that turned up "no evidence" that Rep. Loudermilk entered the U.S. Capitol with constituents on Jan. 5, 2021." The congressman was with the tour only in the Rayburn House Office Building across the street from the Capitol, and the constituents didn't enter the Capitol building. Despite vindication by the police and the committee releasing the security footage afterwards, Democrats still claimed Loudermilk entered the Capitol with the tour.
6. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) was involved in a conspiracy to force alternate electors on Vice President Mike Pence: Johnson never handed slates of alternate electors to Pence as alleged. Rather, Johnson's staff received an urgent request regarding alternate slates of electors for Michigan and Wisconsin, asked Pence's staff about it, and stood down after the vice president's aide said they already knew about it and the information was supposed to have arrived in the mail.
7. Trump tried to grab the steering wheel of a presidential vehicle to divert it to the Capitol on Jan. 6th: Cassidy Hutchinson, a former junior aide to Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, told the Jan. 6th committee that she heard the account from White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Tony Ornato. Hutchinson also testified that Trump lunged for Secret Service agent Robert Engel after trying to grab the steering wheel, and that Engel was allegedly in the room when Ornato conveyed the account. However, Secret Service said that Trump didn't lunge for the steering wheel or Engel. Ornato, Engel, and the presidential vehicle driver also said they would testify under oath to dispute Hutchinson's testimony.

I noticed one of the ladies walking with her on the beach looked very familiar.
I think she was the Deputy Sergeant at Arms for the senate. When Paul Irving and Michael C. Stenger. ( Stenger is the guy who was found dead a week ago) She took over Stenger's place. Her name is Jennifer Hemingway.
Sergeant at Arms of the United States Senate
On January 7, 2021, Hemingway was named by Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell as acting Senate Sergeant at Arms, following the resignation of Michael C. Stenger after the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol.[5] House sergeant-at-arms Paul D. Irving and United States Capitol Police chief Steven Sund also resigned the same day, amid bipartisan shock and outrage over security lapses that led to the mob's breach and occupation of the Capitol.[5] She held the post until General Karen Gibson was confirmed as the new Senate Sergeant at Arms
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Hemingway
I have no idea what her job has been since then, or why she is on the beach with Pelosi unless she is a part of her security team now.
Or they are co conspirators in the cover up of Jan 6th.
If she is there for official security she would not be barefoot in those type of clothes.
I could not find any names of who this is in the story, but i think this is her, and i wonder why she is there with Nancy.
First is the video of Trump entering SOTU with her( Jennifer Hemingway and Paul Irving leading Trump to the podium.

Michael Stenger, 71, the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms in charge of security at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, joins the list of key potential witnesses in the January 6 Capitol breach investigation who have died under mysterious circumstances. The Washington Post reports that Stenger "died of natural causes."
WTOP reported that four other officials close to the January 6 event have died - three deaths were ruled "natural," one death was ruled an "accident" and the fourth death was classified as a "homicide."

The Associated Press reported that sources claim Stenger was fighting cancer, though no information on the type or severity of his cancer is available at this time.
Some have drawn parallels to the unexpected deaths of Karyn Kupcinet, Grant Stockdale, Gary Underhill, Hunter, Koethe & Howard, Mary Sherman, Mary Pinchot Meyer, Desmond FitzGerald, Lisa Howard, Winston Scott, Tyler & Kopechne, Kilgallen & Smith, and Bannister & Ferrie - all were potential witnesses in the Kennedy assassination investigation.

Stenger had served in the role as the sergeant-at-arms of the Senate since 2018 and had previously worked for the U.S. Secret Service for more than three decades. Sen. Mitch McConnell, who was majority leader at the time, requested Stenger's resignation the day after the pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol. The Senate's top Democrat, Sen. Chuck Schumer, had vowed that he would fire Stenger when he became Senate majority leader later in the month.
Adding to speculation about the timing of his death, a source close to the January 6 committee reported investigators "recently obtained evidence and [would be] receiving witness testimony," according to The Hill.
It is likely the January 6 select committee would consider Stenger a hostile witness, as he became a kind of scapegoat for the Capitol breach, leading him, the House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving, and Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund to resign their positions.
It is unclear whether the committee intended to call Stenger to provide additional testimony. The Washington Post noted:
Advertisements
Stenger and Irving testified to the Senate Rules Committee in February 2021 about security at the Capitol, the response to the attack and the decision in the days leading up to the riot - as members of the Capitol Police Board, which oversees the force - to not have the National Guard at the Capitol in order to quell any violence. Stenger was also mentioned extensively in the Committee's report examining the attack.
The January 6 Committee is receiving pushback regarding the evidence they are allowing to be presented. This week officials and Secret Service agents roundly disputed Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony regarding former President Donald Trump's interaction with security staff.
To the committee's chagrin, two Secret Service agents publicly disputed Hutchinson's testimony and offered to testify before the January 6 committee. No word yet on whether the committee will call them to testify.
The Associated Press tweeted:
"Bobby Engel, the agent who was driving the presidential SUV, and Trump security official Tony Ornato are willing to testify under oath that no agent was assaulted and Trump never lunged for the steering wheel, a person familiar with the matter said."
ABC News Executive Editorial Producer John Santucci tweeted:
"New: Source close to the Secret Service tells [ABC Chief Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas] to expect the Secret Service to push back against any allegation of an assault against an agent or President Trump reaching for the steering wheel."
NBC News' chief White House correspondent, Peter Alexander, tweeted:
"A source close to the Secret Service tells me both Bobby Engel, the lead agent, and the presidential limousine/SUV driver are prepared to testify under oath that neither man was assaulted and that Mr. Trump never lunged for the steering wheel."

While he projected a sober tone to the American public, McConnell privately was ecstatic, a new book about the 2020 election reveals. "I feel exhilarated by the fact that this fellow finally, totally discredited himself," McConnell told New York Times reporter Jonathan Martin late on January 6, 2021 about Trump. Martin is the co-author of This Will Not Pass, of which excerpts were published in the Washington Post this week. Martin in the book recounts his midnight conversation with McConnell.
Trump, McConnell claimed, "put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger," Martin writes. He then asked the reporter what he had heard about members plotting to invoke the 25th Amendment. Calling Trump a "despicable person," McConnell reportedly bragged how he "crushed the sons of bitches" on January 6 and promised to do the same to them in the 2022 primaries.
Now, that seems like an oddly celebratory demeanor for someone who just survived an "attack on our democracy" and an alleged attempt to "overthrow" the seat of government power, doesn't it? And why was McConnell so certain the four-hour disturbance would spell the end for Donald Trump?
Further-and more importantly-why did McConnell's office fail to protect the Capitol on January 6?
His Sergeant at Arms at the time served on the U.S. Capitol police board, a four-man body that manages security at the sprawling Capitol complex. McConnell appointed Michael Stenger in 2018 to serve in that role; Stenger, in addition to his House counterpart, Paul Irving, rejected multiple requests by the Capitol Police chief for extra help in advance of January 6.
Steven Sund, a Capitol Police captain, said he spoke with Stenger on January 4, 2021 to ask for National Guardsmen. "Instead of approving the use of the National Guard, however, Mr. Stenger suggested I ask them how quickly we could get support if needed and to 'lean forward' in case we had to request assistance on January 6."
He spoke with Stenger again on January 5; the board still refused to advance his plan for extra guardsmen.
As the chaos unfolded right as the joint session of Congress convened on January 6, Sund said he "notified the two Sergeant at Arms by 1:09 p.m. that I urgently needed support and asked them to declare a State of Emergency and authorize the National Guard." Stenger and Irving, who were together that afternoon, said he was waiting for "authorization" by congressional leadership.
That approval came an hour later, but with a caveat: Sund also needed the Pentagon's authorization.
"Almost two hours later, we had still not received authorization from the Pentagon to activate the National Guard," Sund testified in February 2021. "Mr. Stenger offered to have Senator McConnell call the Secretary of the Army to expedite the request. I agreed that this would be a good idea. I followed up approximately 20 minutes later to check on the call and express the need for leadership to call to assist in expediting the request."
Guardsmen did not arrive until 5:40 p.m., four-and-a-half hours after Sund's first dispatch and after the protest had ended.
McConnell, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser-the three leaders responsible for protecting the Capitol on January 6-still have not explained their failure to do so. Not only did McConnell's top law enforcement officials purportedly overlook the potential for violence on January 6, he denied requests for more officers days before and delayed sending guardsmen to Capitol Hill that afternoon.
And it will be nearly impossible to find out why: Stegner, along with Irving and Sund, all resigned on January 7, 2021.
So, perhaps there is a darker explanation for McConnell's giddiness on January 6. What unfolded that day on McConnell's watch ended Republican demands for an election audit; criminalized criticism of the 2020 election, which McConnell still describes as "fair" and legitimate; vilified Republican lawmakers; and prompted Trump's second impeachment. McConnell also believed the protest would spell the end of the Trump movement, something the Beltway crony long attempted to quash.
Like the Biden regime, congressional Democrats, and the national news media, the aftermath of the Capitol protest achieved all sorts of political ends for Mitch McConnell.
And when it comes to January 6, there are no coincidences.

Capitol Police rejected offers of federal help to quell mob
Three days before supporters of President Donald Trump rioted at the Capitol, the Pentagon asked the U.S Capitol Police if it needed National Guard manpower. And as the mob descended on the building Wednesday, Justice Department leaders reached out to offer up FBI agents. The police turned them down both times, according to senior defense officials and two people familiar with the matter.
Despite plenty of warnings of a possible insurrection and ample resources and time to prepare, the Capitol Police planned only for a free speech demonstration.
Still stinging from the uproar over the violent response by law enforcement to protests last June near the White House, officials also were intent on avoiding any appearance that the federal government was deploying active duty or National Guard troops against Americans.
The result is the U.S. Capitol was overrun Wednesday and officers in a law enforcement agency with a large operating budget and experience in high-security events protecting lawmakers were overwhelmed for the world to see. Four protesters died, including one shot inside the building.
The rioting and loss of control has raised serious questions over security at the Capitol for future events. The actions of the day also raise troubling concerns about the treatment of mainly white Trump supporters, who were allowed to roam through the building for hours, while Black and brown protesters who demonstrated last year over police brutality faced more robust and aggressive policing.
"This was a failure of imagination, a failure of leadership," said Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, whose department responded to several large protests last year following the death of George Floyd. "The Capitol Police must do better and I don't see how we can get around that."
Acevedo said he has attended events on the Capitol grounds to honor slain police officers that had higher fences and a stronger security presence than what he saw on video Wednesday.
Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said that as the rioting was underway, it became clear that the Capitol Police were overrun. But he said there was no contingency planning done in advance for what forces could do in case of a problem at the Capitol because Defense Department help was turned down. "They've got to ask us, the request has to come to us," said McCarthy.
U.S. Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund, under pressure from Schumer, Pelosi and other congressional leaders, was forced to resign. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell asked for and received the resignation of the Sergeant at Arms of the Senate, Michael Stenger, effective immediately. Paul Irving, the longtime Sergeant at Arms of the House, also resigned.
"There was a failure of leadership at the top," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said.

Ex-Capitol Police Chief Says Requests For National Guard Denied 6 Times In Riots
January 11, 20216:17 AM ET
The formerchief of U.S. Capitol Police says security officials at the House and Senate rebuffed his early requests to call in the National Guard ahead of a demonstration in support of President Trump that turned into a deadly attack on Congress.
Former chief Steven Sund – who resigned his post last week after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for him to step down made the assertions in an interview with The Washington Post published Sunday.
Sund contradicts claims made by officials after Wednesday's assault on Capitol Hill. Sund's superiors said previously that the National Guard and other additional security support could have been provided, but no one at the Capitol requested it.
Sund told the Post thatHouse Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving was concerned with the "optics" of declaring an emergency ahead of the protests and rejected a National Guard presence. He says Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger recommended that he informally request the Guard to be ready in case it was needed to maintain security.
Like Sund, Irving and Stenger have also since resigned their posts.
Sund says he requested assistance six times ahead of and during the attack on the Capitol. Each of those requests was denied or delayed, he says.
Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser also wanted a light police presence at the Capitol. She reportedly wanted to avoid a similar scenario as last summer, when federal forces responded to demonstrators opposed to police abuses who assembled near the White House.

FLAWED INTELLIGENCE, NOT BAD OPTICS: The events of the day, and the failure to have adequate reinforcements available to control the mob, have been exhaustively reviewed at two congressional hearings, with another planned for tomorrow to question Department of Homeland Security, FBI, and Pentagon officials for their side of the story.
But at a Feb. 23 hearing, former Capitol Hill Police Chief Steven Sund testified that Paul Irving, the House sergeant-at-arms, believed the security plan, which included 125 National Guard troops on standby, was adequate given the pre-rally intelligence.
"The Jan. 3rd assessment forecast that the protests were, quote, expected to be similar to the previous million MAGA march rallies that had taken place in November and December 2020," Sund testified. "Every Capitol Police daily intelligence report between January 4th and January 6th, including on January 6th, forecast the chance of civil disobedience or arrest during the protests as remote to improbable."
"Optics as portrayed in the media played no role whatsoever in my decisions about security. And any suggestion to the contrary is false," Sund insisted. "We properly planned for a mass demonstration with possible violence. What we got was a military-style coordinated assault on my officers and a violent takeover of the Capitol building," he said, calling the events he witnessed "the worst attack on law enforcement and our democracy that I have seen in my entire career."
At no point during the Feb. 23 hearing, nor at a subsequent House Appropriations Subcommittee hearing two days later, was any testimony given or evidence submitted that indicated Nancy Pelosi had anything to do with the decision of how or when to deploy National Guard troops, either before or during the riot.
TWO MORE HEARINGS: The Senate Judiciary Committee will be hearing this morning from FBI Director Chris Wray, who will be pressed on whether the FBI provided adequate intelligence ahead of the Jan. 6 riot.
And tomorrow the Senate Rules and the Homeland Security committees will hold a joint hearing, but the only Pentagon officials testifying will be Robert Salesses, senior official performing the duties of the assistant secretary of defense, homeland defense, and global security, and Maj. Gen. William Walker, the commanding general of the D.C. National Guard.
Missing will be Chris Miller, who told Vanity Fair the criticism the Pentagon was slow to respond to requests for Guard troops was' "complete horses—." "I gotta tell you, I cannot wait to go to the Hill and have those conversations with senators and representatives," Miller said. But it looks like he won't be called.

ICYMI: "'Cover-Up': House Republicans Demand Nancy Pelosi Answer for 'Failures' to Secure Capitol on January 6"
'Cover-Up': House Republicans Demand Nancy Pelosi Answer for 'Failures' to Secure Capitol on January 6
House Republican leaders are targeting House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) over the January 6 riot, saying she refuses to respond to their questions about security at the U.S. Capitol and that her select committee is in fact a "cover-up" for the speaker's missteps surrounding the riot.
Four Republicans, led by GOP Conference chair Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), held a press call Monday to deliver the party's messaging on the riot, which Pelosi is currently probing through her Democrat-led select committee.
"This partisan sham committee is not focused on answering the most important questions of why the Capitol was left unprepared that day and how we can ensure this never happens again," Stefanik began.
"Most importantly, the American people deserve to know what the mainstream media refuses to cover: The fact that the only office that is off-limits to this partisan sham investigation is Speaker Pelosi's office," Stefanik continued. "This is a political weapon, and it's used to cover up for Nancy Pelosi's failures."
House Administration Committee ranking member Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL), who was also on the call, detailed a letter he wrote to Pelosi on Monday demanding the security officials who ultimately report to her - the House Sergeant-at-Arms and the House Chief Administrative Officer - comply with Republican requests for information about how the Capitol was protected on January 6.
In his letter, Davis accused Pelosi of continuing to "obstruct Republican access to House records relating to the security preparedness of the Capitol complex on January 6th, 2021."
He also cited letters he sent early last year to both security officials and Pelosi that he said went unaddressed, but he added that a third security entity, the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP), was immediately responsive to his initial letter.
In his new letter, the Illinois Republican highlighted that former USCP Chief Steven Sund and former Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving had "conflicting" accounts about what occurred leading up to and during the January 6 riot, namely whether Irving rejected Sund's request for National Guard presence on January 6 because he was worried about the "optics" of it and who in the "chain of command" was directing Irving as the Capitol breach occurred.
Read a full copy of Davis's letter below:
Judiciary Committee ranking member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), a known oversight hawk who also joined in on Monday's call, told reporters that the conflicting testimonies between USCP and the Sergeant-at-Arms represent a "fundamental issue" given USCP was fully compliant with Davis's requests while the Sergeant-at-Arms, who reports to Pelosi, has not been.
Jordan also drew attention to January 6 committee chair Rep. Bennie Thompson's (D-MS) comment to CNN last July, when Thompson essentially absolved Pelosi of any and all responsibility for the January 6 riot. "Well, if you look at the charge that we have in the resolution, it says the facts and circumstances around January 6. I don't see the speaker being part and parcel to that," Thompson had said.
Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), chair of the Republican Study Committee tasked with crafting and delivering GOP talking points, also spoke on the call and noted that House Republicans are pursuing their own informal investigation and have conducted "numerous interviews" with USCP officers and others with a "role related to security" at the Capitol.
WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 21: Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) (L), joined by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-ON) (C) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) speaks at a news conference on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's decision to reject two of Leader McCarthy's selected members from serving on the committee investigating the January 6th riots on July 21, 2021 in Washington, DC. Phone Records Prove House Sergeant-at-Arms DID Ignore Pleas for Backup: Capitol Police Chief
The acting Capitol Police chief has directly contradicted testimony from former House sergeant-at-arms Paul Irving.
The acting chief of the U.S. Capitol Police just came with the receipts.
Testifying before a House Appropriations subcommittee about the catastrophic breakdown that allowed thousands of MAGA rioters to breach the Capitol, Acting Capitol Police Chief Yogananda Pittman revealed that her predecessor called the House sergeant-at-arms, Paul Irving, at 12:58 p.m. to request the National Guard as rioters breaching the building and forced lawmakers into hiding.
Former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund, who resigned after the riot, called Irving again seven minutes later, according to phone records pulled by Pittman-and then called him at least three more times until 1:45 p.m.
"When there's a breakdown you look for those commanders with boots on the ground to provide that instruction," Pittman said. "That did not happen, primarily because those operational commanders at the time were so overwhelmed, they started to participate and assist the officers... versus providing that guidance and direction."
The receipts-which support the narrative that a series of unanswered calls, withheld information, and conflicting orders led to complete malfunction-directly contradicted Irving's testimony.
On Tuesday, Sund testified that he asked for National Guard backup just after 1 p.m. But Irving insisted that was wrong. He said he did not remember the conversation with Sund and claimed he didn't get an official request until "shortly before 1:30 p.m." Troops were not approved to help overwhelmed officers at the Capitol until 2:10 p.m.
"Mr. Irving stated that he was concerned about the 'optics' of having the National Guard present and didn't feel that the intelligence supported it," Sund said Tuesday. Irving, who resigned in the wake of the riot, said that was "categorically false."
On Tuesday, Irving said that if Sund, Senate sergeant-at-arms Michael Stenger, or any other leaders concluded ahead of Jan. 6 that unarmed National Guardsmen were needed, he "would not have hesitated" to ensure the reinforcement was ready.
Pittman's testimony-and her insistence that Capitol Police did everything possible to contain the insurrection-was just the latest twist in a series of finger-pointing between the top law enforcers in charge of securing the Capitol. During hearings before lawmakers this week, officials have blamed one another for the widespread failures.
One failure, Pittman conceded on Thursday, was that nobody in law enforcement knew the mob would be so violent.
"The department was not ignorant of intelligence indicating an attack of the size and scale we encountered on the sixth. There was no such intelligence," Pittman said Thursday. "Although we knew the likelihood for violence by extremists, no credible threat indicated that tens of thousands would attack the U.S. Capitol. Nor did the intelligence received from the FBI or any other law enforcement partner indicate such a threat."
Pittman added that because officers at the Capitol were not prepared for a violent mob, lockdown procedure was not properly executed. She added that some officers were also not sure when to use lethal force, and that radio communications between law enforcers were not robust.
https://www.thedailybeast.com/capitol-police-chief-yogananda-pittman-proves-pleas-to-house-sergeant-at-arms-Paul-Irving-were-ignored
She told lawmakers that they were prepared for militia groups, white supremacists, and other extremists to be present, but the small organization was not prepared for thousands of "everyday" Americans "who took on a mob mentality." (Acting D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee revealed on Tuesday that the FBI intel consisted merely of an email sent on Jan. 5.)
Officials believe over 10,000 demonstrators were at the Capitol on Jan. 6 and that 800 breached the building. About 1,200 police officers responded, Pittman said.
She also made the stunning admission that since Jan. 6, Capitol Police have maintained heightened security because they learned that militia groups have chatted about plans to "blow up the Capitol and kill as many members as possible" in connection with the State of the Union, which has no scheduled date yet.
"We know that the insurrectionists that attacked the Capitol weren't only interested in attacking members of Congress and officers. They wanted to send a symbolic message to the nation as [to] who was in charge of that legislative process," Pittman said.
On Tuesday, Irving insisted that Capitol Police were privy to intelligence provided by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security that "did not support" the likelihood of a coordinated assault at the Capitol

"No Such Official Request"says Pentagon
==FAKE NEWS CLOWN SHOW: WaPo Does Backflips to Defend Liar Pelosi After Trump Slams Her for Denying National Guard Troops at US Capitol on Jan. 6
As reported back in mid January - Speaker Nancy Pelosi and GOP Leader Mitch McConnell refused National Guard support before the announced protests on January 6th.
This was well documented and explains why Democrats closed their bogus impeachment case against President Trump rather than allow the truth to shine down on the American public who would learn that it was Nancy Pelosi who failed to secure the US Capitol in January - NOT President Trump.
In a WaPo interview with the Washington DC police chief, Steve Sund, The National Pulse reported the outgoing police chief "believes his efforts to secure the premises were undermined by a lack of concern from House and Senate security officials who answer directly to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate leader Mitch McConnell."
DC Police Chief Sund Stated:
"Two days before Congress was set to formalize President-elect Joe Biden's victory, Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund was growing increasingly worried about the size of the pro-Trump crowds expected to stream into Washington in protest.
To be on the safe side, Sund asked House and Senate security officials for permission to request that the D.C. National Guard be placed on standby in case he needed quick backup.
But, Sund said Sunday, they turned him down."
But, it was fruitless.
John Falcicchio, chief of staff for D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser admitted: "Literally, this guy is on the phone, I mean, crying out for help. It's burned in my memories."
This is just the latest example of the Democrats lying and blaming their failures on Donald Trump.
Then in late February the Daily Caller reported more on Pelosi's failings prior to the January 6th storming of the US Capitol.
In the aftermath of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, Former Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving recalled to House Admin how previous discussions with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her office factored in to his "blender of decision making," according to three sources with direct knowledge of Irving's talk with House Admin.
Pelosi's office had previously impressed upon Irving that the National Guard was to remain off Capitol Grounds, Irving allegedly told House Admin. The discussions, which centered around "optics," allegedly occurred in the months prior to the Jan. 6 riot, during a time when deployment of federal resources for civil unrest was unpopular with Democrats and many members of Congress.
The three sources who confirmed the discussion to the Daily Caller did so under the condition of anonymity, citing the fear of putting a chill on further witnesses to how the security situation unfolded Jan. 6.
The fact that Nancy Pelosi left the US Capitol open and defenseless in early January is one thing. The fact that she lied about it and blamed her failings on President Trump is grounds for removal.
Over the weekend President Trump outed Pelosi for denying 10,000 National Guard Troops to the US Capitol prior to January 6th.
Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) later responded saying claims by former President Donald Trump about offering to station 10,000 National Guard troops outside the Capitol on Jan. 6 are "completely made up."
The Daily Wire reported - Pelosi's office denied Trump's claim. Her spokesman, Drew Hammill, told The Washington Post that Trump's assertion was "completely made up." The Post also reported that a Pentagon search of their request records turned upno such official requestfor 10,000 National Guard troops to be stationed at the Capitol.
It is well documented by the Washington Post interview in January that Pelosi turned down National Guard at the US Capitol on January 6th.

President Trump: Capitol Officials Controlled by Pelosi Rejected My Recommendation of 10,000 National Guard for January 6 Because of Optics
President Trump spoke about the January 6 riot at the Capitol during a phone interview with Steve Hilton on the Fox News Channel program the Next Revolution that aired Sunday night, saying he "hated to see it."
Trump denied reports he was watching the riot on TV and liked what he was seeing, saying, "Well, that's incorrect reporting. First of all I wasn't watching TV. I turned it on later on when I heard about it and did a lot of moves. You know, we said to the Department of Defense, the top person, days before we had the rally, cuz that rally was massive...(Trump comments on large rally crowd)...and I said that I think you should have ten thousand, I think I gave the number, I definitely gave the number of ten thousand National Guardsmen, I think you have ten thousand of the National Guard ready. They took that number, from what I understand they gave it to the people at the Capitol which is controlled by Pelosi and I heard they rejected it because they didn't think it looked good. So, you know, that was a big mistake."
Hilton pressed Trump on how he feels now about the riot. Trump said, "I hate to see it, I think it's terrible, I hate to see it" and went on to compare the "double standard" of the reaction to the Capitol riot with the riots last year by Antifa and the radical left in Washington, D.C., Portland, Seattle and Minneapolis.
CNN's Olive Darcy posted a video clip of the interview with a typical for CNN misleading description.
The three sources who confirmed the discussion to the Daily Caller did so under the condition of anonymity, citing the fear of putting a chill on further witnesses to how the security situation unfolded Jan. 6. The discussion, if accurate, raises questions as to what role Pelosi's office had in the security failures that resulted in the resignations of both Irving and former Chief of Capitol Police Steven Sund. Pelosi's Deputy Chief of Staff Drew Hammill did not deny the allegations in a statement to the Daily Caller.
"The Speaker's Office has made it clear publicly and repeatedly that our office was not consulted or contacted concerning any request for the National Guard ahead of January 6th. That has been confirmed by former Sergeant at Arms Irving in sworn testimony before Senate committees. The Speaker expects security professionals to make security decisions and to briefed about those decisions," Hammill said.
"It is our understanding that Committee on House Administration Ranking Republican Member Davis was briefed in advance of January 6th about security preparedness, but took no action to address any security concerns that he might have had," he concluded.

'Bad Optics': Pelosi's Office Reportedly Opposed National Guard On Capitol Grounds Leading Up To Riot
In the months leading up to the Capitol riot, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her office opposed having National Guard on Capitol Grounds due to "optics," according to Tuesday comments reportedly made to House Admin by former Sergeant at Arms, Paul Irving, while making what he described as a "blender of decision making" before the inauguration.
Three sources 'with direct knowledge of Irving's talk' told the Daily Caller that the discussions came at a time when Democrats were against the deployment of federal resources to quell civil unrest.
-Daily Caller
"The Speaker's Office has made it clear publicly and repeatedly that our office was not consulted or contacted concerning any request for the National Guard ahead of January 6th. That has been confirmed by former Sergeant at Arms Irving in sworn testimony before Senate committees. The Speaker expects security professionals to make security decisions and to briefed about those decisions," said Hammill, adding "It is our understanding that Committee on House Administration Ranking Republican Member Davis was briefed in advance of January 6th about security preparedness, but took no action to address any security concerns that he might have had."
The Seargent at Arms is one of three officials with the power to vote on the Capitol Police Board, and is both chosen by, and takes direction from, the Speaker of the House.
Irving testified that he first received a formal request from Sund to activate the National Guard after 2 pm on Jan. 6th. Additionally, when Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley asked if he had to run the request "up the chain of command," Irving replied "no," in testimony before a joint Senate Homeland Security and Rules Committee.
The New York Times previously reported that the Speaker's office confirmed that the National Guard was approved around 1:43 pm. Sund said he sent a request for help from the National Guard to Irving around 1:09 p.m, according to CNN. Irving said he was contacted about the matter after 2:00 pm, Axios reported. Sources questioned how Irving got the request after 2 pm but Pelosi approved the request at 1:43 pm. -Daily Caller
"If you believe Irving's timeline that he testified under oath to, how could he ask for permission from the Speaker 20 minutes before he got the request?" said one Caller source. "Also if you believe his sworn testimony that he never had to run the request up the chain, why did the Speaker's office confirm he did just that?"
According to the Caller's third source, "Irving is covering for Pelosi. There's no doubt."

The Sergeant at Arms (SAA) is selected by the Speaker of the House and takes its direction from the Speaker. The Sergeant at Arms is one of the three officials that are voting members of the Capitol Police Board, the entity that oversees the United States Capitol Police. Former SAA Irving's sworn testimony at Tuesday's Senate hearing examining the Jan. 6 riot on the U.S. Capitol, raises additional questions on the exact timeline of events.

Pelosi's office pushes back on House GOP questions about Capitol security ahead of riot
Lawmakers trying to 'deflect responsibility for the Capitol attack from Donald Trump,' Pelosi's office says
Brooke SingmanBy Brooke Singman | Fox News
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office fired back at House Republicans on Monday who demanded answers regarding security decisions leading up to and on the day of the Capitol riot last month, saying they are "clearly" trying to "deflect responsibility for the Capitol attack from Donald Trump."
House Administration Committee Ranking Member Rodney Davis, R-Ill., House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, House Oversight Committee Ranking Member James Comer, R-Ky., and House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Devin Nunes, R-Calif., sent a letter to Pelosi, D-Calif., on Monday, saying that "many important questions" about her "responsibility for the security" of the Capitol on Jan. 6 "remain unanswered."
But Pelosi's deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill, told Fox News that the speaker "has and will continue to take action to ensure accountability and enhance the security of the Capitol."
"Two of the four House Republican ranking members voted to overturn the results of a fair election, just hours after the Capitol was sacked by an insurrectionist, right-wing mob - a mob incited by Trump," Hammill said. "A full 65% of House Republicans joined them in voting to undermine our democracy. All four ranking members also voted against holding Donald Trump accountable for inciting the mob."
Hammill added: "Clearly, the security of our Capitol and democracy are not the priorities of these ranking members."
The Republicans, in their letter to Pelosi Monday morning, questioned: "When then-Chief Sund made a request for National Guard support on Jan. 4, why was that request denied? Did Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving get permission or instruction from your staff on Jan. 4 prior to denying Chief Sund's request for the National Guard?"
Davis, Jordan, Comer and Nunes pointed to claims made by former Capitol Police Chief Steve Sund, that he, on Jan. 4, approached the sergeant-at-arms to request the assistance of the National Guard. Sund, in a letter to Pelosi last month, said Irving replied that he was concerned about "the optics" and didn't feel the "intelligence supported it."
"As you are aware, the speaker of the House is not only the leader of the majority party, but also has enormous institutional responsibilities," they wrote. "The speaker is responsible for all operational decisions made within the House."
The House sergeant-at-arms and the Senate sergeant-at-arms, Michael Stenger, were removed from their positions and Chief Sund resigned after the riot.
"It is the job of the Capitol Police Board, on which these three individuals sat, to properly plan and prepare for security threats facing the U.S. Capitol," Hammill said. "It has been reported that the House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving has said that he did not present to House leadership any request for the National Guard before Jan. 6."
Hammill noted that the committees of jurisdiction were briefed "in advance of Jan. 6 about security preparedness."
"During a briefing of the Appropriations Committee Majority on Jan. 5 by the House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving and U.S. Capitol Police Chief Sund both Chief Sund and Mr. Irving provided assurances that the Capitol Complex had comprehensive security and there was no intelligence that groups would become violent at the Capitol during the certification of electoral votes," Hammill explained. "It is our understanding that ranking member Davis was also briefed, but took no action to address any security concerns that he might have had."
Davis' office, in response, told Fox News that "no one is alleging that Ranking Member Davis denied a request for the national guard ahead of January 6th because he would not have the authority to do so even if he had been made aware of the request, which he was not."
"Following the insurrection, the speaker immediately tasked Gen. Honoré with leading an immediate security review of the U.S. Capitol Complex and has called for a 9/11-style Commission to investigate, with legislation creating such a panel to be introduced in the coming days," Hammill said. "The USCP is also conducting an internal security review."
Pelosi, last month, appointed retired Gen. Russel Honoré to lead a security review of the events at the Capitol amid calls from members on both sides of the aisle, in both chambers of Congress, to conduct a review.

McConnell ousts Senate sergeant-at-arms after Capitol riots
BY JORDAIN CARNEY - 01/07/21 08:25 PM EST
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) forced out Senate sergeant-at-arms Michael Stenger one day after rioters breached the Capitol, the GOP leader announced Thursday night.
"Today I requested and received the resignation of Michael Stenger, the Senate Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper, effective immediately," McConnell said in a statement.
Deputy sergeant-at-arms Jennifer Hemingway will become the acting SAA. The Senate sergeant-at-ams office didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
McConnell's announcement is the latest sign of housecleaning among top officials after a massive security failure at the Capitol on Wednesday when rioters were able to breach the perimeter and force their way into the building, eventually making it to both the House and Senate chambers.
The mob resulted in lawmakers being whisked out of both chambers and taken to secure locations and the joint session meant to count the Electoral College vote being suspended for hours Capitol Police worked to contain crowds of rioters.
In addition to Stenger, Capitol Police chief Steven Sund is resigning later this month, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced earlier Thursday that the House sergeant-at-arms, Paul Irving, had also tendered his resignation.
McConnell in a statement earlier Thursday thanked frontline police officers but pledged a "painstaking investigation and thorough review" of the incident.
"The ultimate blame for yesterday lies with the unhinged criminals who broke down doors, trampled our nation's flag, fought with law enforcement, and tried to disrupt our democracy, and with those who incited them," he said in a statement earlier Thursday. "But this fact does not and will not preclude our addressing the shocking failures in the Capitol's security posture and protocols."

>>12497035 What did Nancy Pelosi know? A prior plot or spontaneous riot? Were there inside facilitators? Rush to judgement? Three crucial questions remain unanswered about Capitol siege
storyline of major tragedies or controversies is never the most accurate.
Americans were told by the Bush administration that they were sucker-punched by a surprise attack on 9/11 by terrorists…
Susan Rice originally told the nation that the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was carried out spontaneously…
The country was assured Christopher Steele's dossier provided credible evidence…
Since the weekend, major bombshell revelations already have substantially revised the initial story of a spontaneous mob overrunning an unsuspecting Capitol police force.
The FBI admitted Tuesday it received information ahead of the Jan. 6 tragedy suggesting some participants were planning a "war" on the Capitol, including killing officers and distributing maps of the complex. It alerted Washington D.C. law enforcement through the joint terrorism task force alert system. It also "disrupted" the travel plans of some of the suspected trouble-makers.
"We developed some intelligence that a number of individuals were planning to travel to the D.C. area with intentions to cause violence," Assistant Director Steven M. D'Antuono said. "We immediately shared that information, and action was taken."
The New York Police Department is reported to have given the Capitol Police similar intelligence warnings of impending violence.
The chief federal prosecutor in Washington declared Tuesday he is pursuing conspiracy charges, signaling the attacks on the Capitol involved multiple acts and multiple conspirators working in concert with each other. The prosecutor talked about the planting of carefully constructed IEDs as one such act. In other words, there was pre-planning for some elements of chaos.
And the official timeline of events constructed by the New York Times through videos shows protesters began breaching the perimeter of the Capitol a full 20 minutes before Trump finished his speech.
This new evidence raises the first compelling question that remains unanswered. How could Trump incite an attack that had already been pre-planned and was in motion before his speech ended?
A senior intelligence official told Just the News he has found no evidence that the president, the White House or the National Security Council was alerted in formal intelligence briefings to the pre-warnings or suspicions of violence the FBI and NYPD have admitted they had.
Bernard Kerik said it appeared the FBI and NYPD did their job in alerting the Capitol Police, but the evidence of a pre-planned attack would undercut the current narrative that Trump had incited a spontaneous insurrection.
By all accounts, the FBI, NYPD and other authorities did exactly what they should have done..," Kerik said."If these reports are true, you cannot incite a group that already pre-planned acts of violence by days or weeks, and it raises serious questions as to what security precautions were taken at the Capitol as a result."
The second major question that remains unanswered is:What did House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the other leaders in Congress know - and when did they know itabout the possibility for violence and the Pentagon's pre-attack offer to send National Guardsmen to reinforce the Capitol Police?
The U.S. Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund, told The Washington Post that security officials at the House and Senate rebuffed his early request to call in the National Guard ahead of a protest.
Sund alleged that House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving was concerned with the "optics" of declaring an emergency ahead of the protests and rejected a National Guard presence. He says Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger recommended that he informally request the Guard to be ready in case it was needed to maintain security. Irving and Stenger have not talked publicly. But their account will be essential to the final effort to assign accountability for the glaring security lapses exposed last Wednesday. The key questions for both men is whether they warned Pelosi or Senate Leaders Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer about the violence concerns or consulted with the leaders about the idea of activating the Guard.
Democrats for weeks were concerned by the pro-Trump rally and previously had criticized Trump for using National Guard
Finally, there is this troubling third question:Were there facilitators inside the Capitol and outside it who instigated or enabled the attack to be carried out?
And video taken contemporaneously shows officers and other people opening doors to rushing rioters and some people - purported by the filming cameramen to be leftist anarchists -smashing windows and urging protesters to jump into the Capitol.

"Incitement" Timeline Debunked As Ex-Capitol Police Chief Says Pelosi, McConnell's Sergeants-At-Arms Refused Security Measures

========

Capitol Police chief sought DC National Guard help before riots - but was denied by supervisors: report
Steven Sund is now speaking out following the deadly riots
The U.S. Capitol Police chief who was in charge during last week's deadly riots reportedly asked his supervisors ahead of time for permission to request that the D.C. National Guard be on standby if the situation spiraled out of control - but was denied.
Steven Sund, who resigned from the position as of Friday, revealed the plea this week in an interview with The Washington Post.
"If we would have had the National Guard we could have held them at bay longer, until more officers from our partner agencies could arrive," Sund told the newspaper, describing how the deadly Jan. 6 storming of Capitol Hill by a pro-Trump crowd might have unfolded differently.
The Washington Post reports that on the Monday before the riot, Sund asked House and Senate security officials for permission to request the Guard be placed on standby in case he needed hasty backup.
But Sund told the newspaper that House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving rebuffed the idea, arguing he was uncomfortable with the "optics" that such a move would bring in advance of Wednesday's protest. Senate Sergeant at Arms Michael Stenger told Sund that he should informally reach out to his contacts at the Guard and ask them to "lean forward" and be on alert, he added.
Sund said he followed Stenger's advice and called the head of the D.C. National Guard that night, who allegedly told him he believed he could get 125 personnel to the scene quickly if needed. The police chief then briefed Irving and Stenger on that information Tuesday and Stenger said the backup - which also included an offering from the Metropolitan Police Department to potentially lend a hand – seemed sufficient, according to Sund's interview with The Washington Post.

The former chief of U.S. Capitol Police says security officials at the House and Senate rebuffed his early requests to call in the National Guard ahead of a demonstration in support of President Trump that turned into a deadly attack on Congress.
Former chief Steven Sund who resigned his post last week after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for him to step down made the assertions in an interview with The Washington Post published Sunday.
Sund contradicts claims made by officials after Wednesday's assault on Capitol Hill. Sund's superiors said previously that the National Guard and other additional security support could have been provided, but no one at the Capitol requested it.
Sund told the Post that House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving was concerned with the "optics" of declaring an emergency ahead of the protests and rejected a National Guard presence.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she will ask for the resignation of Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund a day after supporters of President Donald Trump violently stormed the Capitol during the certification of the 2020 presidential election results.
The California Democrat also said Thursday that House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving, another key security official, had already submitted his resignation. He reports directly to Pelosi, while Sund answers to both House and Senate.
Incoming Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said he'll fire the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger.
Lawmakers have mixed praise for the Capitol Police with harsh criticism for the outfit, which was overwhelmed by Wednesday's mob and unprepared for it.
Incoming Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is also vowing to fire Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger following the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
Stenger is in charge of the chamber's security.
Schumer says, "I will fire him as soon as Democrats have a majority in the Senate." The New York Democrat will become the majority leader after Georgia Sens.-elect Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff are sworn in.
Top Republican and outgoing Majority Leader Mitch McConnell agrees that there was a "massive failure'' by police and other officials that allowed a violent breach at the Capitol Wednesday.
McConnell says a "painstaking investigation and thorough review must now take place and significant changes must follow.''
He says the "ultimate blame" lies with the criminals who broke into the Capitol and the people who incited them. But he said that "does not and will not preclude our addressing the shocking failures in the Capitol's security posture and protocols."

Q Research General #10006: The Sweet Arrest Of Michael Avenatti Edition
Federal Judge Orders Justice Department to Explain Why Awan Documents Are Being Kept Secret
An apparently frustrated federal judge ordered attorneys for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to appear Jan. 15 for a "snap" hearing to explain why the government isn't producing documents sought by Judicial Watch concerning former Democratic information technology aide Imran Awan.
U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Judge Amit Mehta's unusual order followed a sealed submission by DOJ attorneys Jan. 10 in the case prompted by the nonprofit government watchdog's November 2018 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit.
Such hastily convened hearings are extremely unusual in a federal judicial system so jammed that months can pass before cases are litigated in courtrooms.
"In a hearing last month, U.S. District Court Judge Amit P. Mehta expressed frustration and ordered the Justice Department to explain its failure to produce records by January 10 and to provide Judicial Watch some details about the delay," Judicial Watch said in a statement Jan. 14 about the snap hearing.
"Instead, the Justice Department made its filing under seal and has yet to provide Judicial Watch with any details about its failure to produce records as promised to the court," Judicial Watch said.
Federal attorneys previously said in December 2019 that they were unable to provide the documents sought in the Judicial Watch FOIA requests because they include materials from a "related sealed criminal matter."
The lawsuit was prompted by DOJ's failure to produce documents sought by Judicial Watch in two separate FOIA requests in the Awan scandal.
Awan, a Pakistani national, and several members of his family and friends were IT aides to more than 40 Democratic members of key national security and foreign policy committees in the House of Representatives. Their positions gave the aides access to all of the members' digital communications and documents.
With the exception of Imran Awan, all of the Awan network members lost their access to the House IT network in February 2017, as a result of a report by the top House administrative officials that said the aides "are an ongoing and serious risk to the House of Representatives, possibly threatening the integrity of our information systems and thereby members' capacity to serve constituents."
Imran Awan was kept on the House payroll by then-Democratic National Committee Chairman Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Fla.) until he was arrested by federal agents while trying to leave the United States.
Awan was subsequently charged with bank fraud in connection with a loan from the Congressional Federal Credit Union.
Awan pleaded guilty in a plea deal in which federal prosecutors agreed to drop a bank fraud charge against Awan's wife, and said they found no evidence that he "illegally removed House data from the House network or from House members' offices, stole the House Democratic Caucus server, stole or destroyed House information technology equipment, or improperly accessed or transferred government information, including classified or sensitive information."
To date, federal prosecutors haven't explained why their investigation reached a conclusion opposite to that of House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving and House Chief Administrative Officer Phil Kiko.
Awan served no time in prison and only three months of supervised release. His attorney in the bank fraud case was a longtime associate of Bill and Hillary Clinton.
The Awan scandal was first exposed by Daily Caller investigative journalist Luke Rosiak, who subsequently published a book on his findings, titled "Obstruction of Justice: How the Deep State Risked National Security to Protect the Democrats."
None of the Awan network members were reportedly required to undergo security background checks prior to being employed on congressional staffs.
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in the nonprofit's statement that "the DOJ's handling of the Awan brothers case has long been an issue of concern and now we are expected to believe some secret investigation prevents the public from knowing the full truth about this scandal. We are skeptical."

Elijah Cummings' Baltimore Home Is Robbed
The break-in at Cummings' residence on the 2000 block of Madison Avenue occurred at around 3:40 a.m. according to police. It is unclear whether anything was taken from the property.
According to Fox News, the reported break-in came around four hours before President Trump blasted Cummings over Twitter for representing a "disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess."
….As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place
- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 27, 2019
"If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place," the president added. ''
Congressional security officials are investigating whether the break-in was a random crime or if there is a threat "nexus" tied to Cummings due to Trump's comments. However, a source with knowledge of the investigation told Fox News there was "no skullduggery" when asked if the break-in had any relation to the president's remarks.
Fox News has obtained a memo sent to House offices the day before the break-in regarding Congressional security over the August recess. The memo from House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving reminds lawmakers of "the significance of maintaining an enhanced security awareness in your district." -Fox News
"Members and staff should always remain vigilant of their surroundings and immediately report anything unusual or suspicious to the relevant law enforcement or police entity," wrote Irving. "I also recommend a notification to the USCP [U.S. Capitol Police] or my office so that we may coordinate any review with the relevant law enforcement agency."

In Newly Obtained Memo, Congress's Top Cop Said House Democratic Caucus Server VANISHED
A secret memo marked "URGENT" detailed how the House Democratic Caucus's server went "missing" soon after it became evidence in a cybersecurity probe. The secret memo also said more than "40 House offices may have been victims of IT security violations."
In the memo, Congress's top law enforcement official, Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving, along with Chief Administrative Officer Phil Kiko, wrote, "We have concluded that the employees [Democratic systems administrator Imran Awan and his family] are an ongoing and serious risk to the House of Representatives, possibly threatening the integrity of our information systems and thereby members' capacity to serve constituents."
The memo, addressed to the Committee on House Administration (CHA) and dated Feb. 3, 2017, was recently reviewed and transcribed by The Daily Caller News Foundation. The letter bolsters TheDCNF's previous reporting about the missing server and evidence of fraud on Capitol Hill.
It details how the caucus server, run by then-caucus Chairman Rep. Xavier Becerra, was secretly copied by authorities after the House Inspector General (IG) identified suspicious activity on it, but the Awans' physical access was not blocked.
But after, the report reads, the server appears to have been secretly replaced with one that looked similar.
The memo called for firing the Pakistani-born aides, revoking all their computer accounts, and changing the locks on any door they had access to.
Rep. Louie Gohmert - a Texas Republican on the House Committee on the Judiciary who has done oversight work on the case - said the missing server contained copies of Congress members' emails.
"They put 40 members of Congress's data on one server ... That server, with that serial number, has disappeared," he said.
Multiple sources connected to the investigation told TheDCNF that shortly after an IG report came out identifying the House Democratic Caucus server as key evidence in a criminal probe, the evidence was stolen.
"They [the Awans] deliberately turned over a fake server" to falsify evidence, one official close to the CHA alleged. "It was a breach. The data was completely out of [members'] possession."
The six-page letter says:
- In September of 2016 ... the CHA and [IG] briefed the former Chairman of the Democratic Caucus about suspicious activity related to their server that the [IG] identified. As a result, the former Chairman of the Democratic Caucus directed the CAO to copy the data from their server and two computers.
- The CHA directed the IG to refer the matter to the US Capitol Police. The USCP initiated an investigation that continues to this day.
- In late 2016, the former Chairman of the Democratic Caucus announced his intention to resign from Congress to assume a new position. The CAO and [sergeant-at-arms] worked with the Chairman to account for his inventory, including the one server.
- While reviewing the inventory, the CAO discovered that the serial number of the server did not match that of the one imaged in September. [Investigators] also discovered that the server in question [the replacement server] was still operating under the employee's control, contrary to the explicit instructions of the former chairman to turn over all equipment and fully cooperate with the inquiry and investigation. [A House source said the "employee" was Abid Awan.]
- The USCP interviewed relevant staff regarding the missing server.
- On January 24, 2017, the CAO acquired the [replacement] server from the control of the employees and transferred that server to the USCP.

Memo confirms DNC server disappearance
Over 40 offices in the House of Representatives may have fallen victim to an "IT security violation," according to a secret memo from top congressional law enforcement to the Committee on House Administration.
The memo, written in part by Paul Irving, the House's sergeant at arms, detailed the disappearance of a server for the House Democratic Caucus following its marking as evidence in a cybersecurity probe. Imran Awan, email server administrator to former DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and members of his family had logged into the server more than 7,000 times between 2015 and 2016 without proper authorization.
Since then, the memo alleges, the caucus server holding emails from lawmakers has been replaced by a lookalike, but the original is gone.
An official with ties to the Committee on House Administration told the Daily Caller News Foundation - which reviewed and transcribed the February 2017 memo - that the replacement of the caucus server was clear evidence of a breach.
"[The Awans] deliberately turned over a fake server to falsify evidence," they said, noting that the data itself was "completely out of [members'] possession."
Irving said in the memo that the Pakistani Awan group was "an ongoing and serious risk to the House of Representatives, possibly threatening the integrity of our information systems and thereby members' capacity to serve constituents."
Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, who has had a hand in the case for some time, called for action from intelligence officials on the matter.
"We need someone assigned to the Awan case that will protect Congress from further breaches and from the Awan crime family," Gohmert said. "For heaven's sake, we need someone in the FBI to step up and do their job."

Pelosi said May 2 that Barr committed a crime by misleading Congress in his testimony the past few months
Barr released a four-page summary of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report in March, handed over a redacted version of the report to Congress in April and testified before both chambers's Judiciary Committees

Attorney General Bill Barr publicly asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi if she brought handcuffs to arrest him at an event at the Capitol on Wednesday.
'Madam Speaker, did you bring your handcuffs?' Barr asked Pelosi loudly after shaking her hand, according to an ABC News reporter.
The reporter said that sources confirmed Pelosi smiled and indicated that the House Sergeant at Arms was present at the event and would be able to make an arrest if necessary.
The Sergeant at Arms is elected by members of the House of Representatives, and serves as chief law enforcement and protocol officer. The current Sergeant at Arms is Paul Irving, who has served since 2012.

A top aide to Democrat Rep. Yvette Clarke told Capitol Hill investigators she believed the New York congresswoman's chief of staff was working with Abid Awan to steal equipment from the congressional office.
Clarke "wrote off" one-tenth of her annual budget after $120,000 in equipment could not be located.
She did not mention it publicly and waited to fire Abid until House officials approached her about it months later. Davis no longer works there, but has not been arrested.
Rep. Yvette Clarke's deputy chief of staff came into the office on a Saturday in December 2015 and caught the New York Democrat's part-time IT aide, Abid Awan, rummaging through the congresswoman's work area with new iPods and other equipment strewn around the room, according to a House document and interviews with Hill staff.
Wendy Anderson told Abid to get out of the office, the document said. She told Capitol Hill investigators that she soon suspected Clarke's chief of staff, Shelley Davis, was working with Abid on a theft scheme, multiple House staffers with knowledge of the situation told The Daily Caller News Foundation. They also said that Anderson pushed for Abid's firing.
But Clarke did not fire Abid until six months after the congresswoman formally acknowledged that $120,000 in equipment was missing, records show - not until after House investigators independently announced a review that would potentially catch financial discrepancies. Even then, Anderson told investigators she believed another top staffer in Clarke's office was subverting their efforts, a House staffer with knowledge of the investigation said.
Four months later, Anderson took a job with another congressional office. Clarke's office declined to say under what terms she left.
Abid - known in the office as Omar - and his brothers, fellow IT workers Imran Awan and Jamal Awan, are suspected of making "unauthorized access" to congressional servers during the 2016 election and of running a theft scheme, according to the House Inspector General (IG). Together, the family had access to all the emails and files of 1 in 5 House Democrats.
Members like Clarke have refused to discuss the case. The New York congresswoman, meanwhile, has described Donald Trump's presidency as the product of an "illegally hacked, illegitimate election."
House Chief Administrative Officer Phil Kiko testified in a public hearing in April that "the House IG discovered evidence of procurement fraud and irregularities [and] numerous violations of House security policies" by the Awans. The alleged procurement fraud included submitting suspicious invoices to bill equipment to House offices.
Each invoice requires sign-offs from chiefs of staff or congressmen. House office budgets are tight enough that unnecessary purchases would be hard to miss, three chiefs of staff told TheDCNF.
A Feb. 3, 2017 letter from Kiko and the House's top law enforcement officer, Sergeant-At-Arms Paul Irving, to the Committee on House Administration - kept secret by the House, but obtained by TheDCNF - quotes from notes on an interview with Anderson:
Coming in on a Saturday and finding Omar in the office with equipment everywhere. She stated, 'it looked like Christmas with Apple TV's, iPods, etc. scattered around the room.' She stated that Omar told her 'these items were not her office's equipment but they belonged to another office.' She told him to get them out of her member's office.
One House staffer who said Anderson confided in them told TheDCNF of the views she expressed: "She knew it was obviously stolen ... What business case would they have had for iPods? ... He's a shared employee, basically a contractor. Why would he be camped out ... in her personal office?"
"Wendy was actually a truth-sayer, she wanted the right things to happen, enforce rules, and Yvette Clarke did not," the staffer continued.
Anderson was promoted to chief of staff soon after she encountered Abid in Clarke's office near Christmas 2015. Her predecessor, Davis, departed the payroll on Feb. 11, 2016.
Once Anderson became responsible for the office's finances, she found that Clarke's office had for years been ordering abnormal quantities of equipment, much with seemingly dubious business value, she later told House investigators, according to multiple congressional officials with knowledge of the probe who spoke with TheDCNF.

When that didn't work, she escalated, raising the prospect of re-arranging the Capitol Police's entire board to prevent Verderosa from being a voting member, and lamented that not all of the board's members were subject to oversight by her committee. Questioning Verderosa's boss, Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving, she said: "We have had jurisdictional issues and a challenging time conducting oversight because of the structure of the Capitol Police Board and there - there being a (inaudible) line rather than a direct line to us in terms of being able to hold the board accountable."
"I'd like to know, sergeant, if you think that we should be looking at restructuring the way the board makes decisions so that we can establish a more direct line of accountability ... At the end of the day, [the chief] doesn't have a decision-making role," Wasserman Shultz continued.
She also used campaign funds to hire a lawyer to keep the laptop out of prosecutors' hands. And it wasn't just any lawyer - it was Bill Pittard, who until months prior had been working as acting general counsel of the House of Representatives, a position with responsibilities that include deciding what to turn over to the executive branch pursuant to legal activity.
In August, after Imran's arrest at Dulles airport, Wasserman Schultz changed her tune, saying "This was not my laptop. I have never seen that laptop. I don't know what's on the laptop." She said it was Imran's laptop but purchased using taxpayer funds from her office.
She said Imran's "due process" rights had inspired her demeanor during the Capitol Police exchange and the lengths to which she went to shield the laptop. She then said she was no longer seeking to block prosecutors from looking at the laptop.
But by then, Imran had taken up the same quest. In September, prosecutors turned over a copy of the government laptop to Imran, even though he had been banned from the House network because he was viewed as a threat. In October, Imran's attorney, Chris Gowen - a former aide to Hillary Clinton - said in court that Imran was invoking attorney-client privilege on the laptop and that they "feel very strongly" that the hard drive not be able to be used as evidence.
That seemed to set up a situation where Imran was shielding the laptop that Wasserman Schultz had initially not wanted examined, but where it would be within his power to drop the objection. That's significant because House sources have said that Democrats aren't cooperating with the Awans' prosecution, and raised questions about whether he has leverage over them.

Former U.S. Attorney Andrew McCarthy questioned that attorney-client privilege applies to the laptop at all, saying, "If I give my lawyer my bank records and ask him if they show evidence of a crime, the bank records do not become [attorney-client] privileged - only his advice to me would be [attorney-client] privileged. And if I stuck a sign on my bank records that said '[attorney-client] privileged documents,' that would not make them [attorney-client] privileged documents."
Wasserman Schultz has declined to answer questions about the laptop, but given that it was government equipment that, as she noted previously, belongs to her, she might be able to explicitly give permission to prosecutors to look at it. In particular, if Imran wasn't authorized to have the laptop, it could be more difficult to invoke privilege on it. (Wasserman Schultz's brother is an assistant U.S. attorney at the same office that is handling the case, and he has tweeted dismissively about it.)
Rather than simply swatting down the claim and using what McCarthy said is the universally employed solution to such a dilemma - using a "taint team" to go through the laptop and isolate specific files that are communications to Imran's lawyer - prosecutors have delayed the court hearing five times, telling the judge repeatedly: "The government has been in discussions with counsel for the defendants regarding complex discovery issues and other legal issues in this case, in particular issues surrounding claims of attorney-client privilege being raised by defendant Imran Awan," court papers filed Tuesday say.
The next court date is set for May 4, though could be postponed a sixth time.

Sen. Malik denied any relationship with the parties allegedly involved, saying "I am hearing their names for the first time. I am in public and people always do name-dropping." Chris Gowen, an attorney for Imran, said Minhas's contentions were "completely and totally false."
House Sergeant-At-Arms Paul Irving banned the Awans from the congressional network on Feb. 2, 2017 after the IG report alleged that the Awans were making "unauthorized access" to House servers. They logged in using members of Congress's personal usernames and logged into servers of members for whom they did not work, the IG report said. After some members fired them, they still kept accessing their data, an IG presentation charged.
The behavior mirrored a "classic method for insiders to exfiltrate data from an organization," and "steps are being taken [by the Awans] to conceal their activity," it said.
In the months before the election, the epicenter of the cyberbreach was the server of the House Democratic Caucus, a sister group of the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Authorities said they believe Imran secretly moved all the data of more than a dozen House members' offices onto the caucus server.
The server may have been "used for nefarious purposes and elevated the risk that individuals could be reading and/or removing information," an IG presentation said. The Awans logged into it 27 times a day, far more than any other computer they administered.
Imran's most forceful advocate and longtime employer is Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who led the DNC until she resigned following a hack that exposed committee emails. Wikileaks published those emails, and they show that DNC staff summoned Imran when they needed her password.
Democrats have blamed the DNC hack for former Clinton's loss in the 2016 presidential race.
Soon after the IG report, the entire House Democratic Caucus server was physically stolen, three government officials said, in what authorities took as evidence tampering. Then-Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra has refused to discuss the incident except to say that he would cooperate with authorities.
The Awans began selling their assets during the same time period. In January 2017 they took out a loan intended for home improvement, falsely claimed a medical emergency in order to cash out their House retirement account, and wired $300,000 overseas, according to an FBI affidavit.
Imran was arrested at Dulles Airport in July 2017 trying to fly to Pakistan with a wiped cell phone and a resume that listed his address as Queens, New York, prosecutors said. Imran and his wife, Hina Alvi, were indicted in August on bank fraud charges, with prosecutors contending in court filings that shortly before moving the money, the couple had likely learned that authorities were closing in on them for their other activities.
Yet Imran and Hina have not been charged with unauthorized access to congressional data, despite an analysis of server logs by House investigators that determined that unauthorized access by Imran and Hina occurred. Three other suspects - Abid Awan, Jamal Awan and Rao Abbas - have faced no charges. Abid's wife, Ukraniane-born Nataliia Sova, was also on the payroll but left before the Awan family was banned.
The separation between the legislative and executive branch has complicated the prosecution. Congressmen have refused to publicly address the IG's findings, and Wasserman Schultz's brother is a prosecutor in the office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, which is handling the case.
Two months after the ban, Capitol Police found that Imran was in the building and left a laptop with username RepDWS in a phone booth along with a note that read "attorney client privilege," according to a police report.
Wasserman Schultz hired a private lawyer to block prosecutors from looking at the computer. Imran's attorney then said the laptop should not be looked at unless he withdraws his claim of attorney-client privilege. Their next court date is May 4.

GOP lawmakers demand answers from Pelosi on Jan. 6 security decisions
Four Republican lawmakers are demanding answers from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over her role in making security decisions on January 6, the day of the Capitol riot.
Reps. Rodney Davis, IL, Jim Jordan, OH, James Comer, KY, and Devin Nunes, CA sent a letter Monday, requesting the answers to the following five questions:
When then-Chief Sund made a request for national guard support on January 4th, why was that request denied?
Did Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving get permission or instruction from your staff on January 4th prior to denying Chief Sund's request for the national guard?
What conversations and what guidance did you and your staff give the Sergeant at Arms leading up to January 6th specific to the security posture of the campus?
What conversations did you have during the attack on the Capitol and what response did you give security officials on January 6th when Chief Sund requested National Guard support that required your approval?
Why are your House Officers refusing to comply with preservation and production requests to turn over request materials relevant to the events of January 6th?
The members allege that when the National Guard was requested ahead of January 6, Pelosi failed to act. Further, on the day of the attack, Pelosi, they wrote, took over an hour to respond to then-Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund's request for approval of the National Guard.
"It has been widely reported and confirmed by multiple sources that when Chief Sund requested the National Guard be activated ahead of the January 6th Joint Session of Congress, the response from the SAA, acting on your behalf, was that the 'optics' of having the National Guard on-site were not good and the intelligence didn't support the move," the lawmakers wrote.
"The request was not approved. Furthermore, on January 6th in the middle of the on-going attack of the Capitol, Chief Sund again notified the SAA of his request for approval to authorize the National Guard. It took over an hour for his request to be approved because the SAA had to run the request up the chain of command, which undoubtedly included you and your designees."
On January 7, Pelosi called for Sund's resignation, saying he didn't contact "us since this happened." However, Sund's February 1 letter claimed he briefed the Speaker on the situation twice on January 6.

"Three days before thousands of rioters converged on the U.S. Capitol, an internal Capitol Police intelligence report warned of a violent scenario in which "Congress itself" could be the target of angry supporters of President Trump on Jan. 6, laying out a stark alert that deepens questions about the security failures that day.
In a 12-page report on Jan. 3, the intelligence unit of the congressional police force described how thousands of enraged protesters, egged on by Trump and flanked by white supremacists and extreme militia groups, were likely to stream into Washington armed for battle."
This time, the focus of their ire would be members of Congress, the report said.
The now-resigned Capitol Police chief warned the Congress about an imminent pre-planned attack six times, according to his account, but was denied a stronger presence. It is important to read exactly what the Washington Post reported:
" Two days before Congress was set to formalize President-elect Joe Biden's victory, Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund was growing increasingly worried about the size of the pro-Trump crowds expected to stream into Washington in protest.
To be on the safe side, Sund asked House and Senate security officials for permission to request that the D.C. National Guard be placed on standby in case he needed quick backup."
"We knew we would have large crowds, the potential for some violent altercations," he added.
The responses from the House's and the Senate's respective Sergeant at Arms were reckless at best:
" House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving said he wasn't comfortable with the "optics" of formally declaring an emergency ahead of the demonstration, Sund said. Meanwhile, Senate Sergeant at Arms Michael Stenger suggested that Sund should informally seek out his Guard contacts, asking them to "lean forward" and be on alert in case Capitol Police needed their help.
"
Thus, an emergency could have been declared before the riot broke out. Instead, the message to the Capitol Police and the National Guard: Keep the presence light and the security passive. The House and Senate Sergeant at Arms have since resigned.
The Capitol Police held the doors open for protesters to enter the building. "I disagree with it, but I respect it," one officer said as protesters shuffled past him.
There were other suspicious aspects of the assembled mob. One high-profile actor was John Earle Sullivan, a radical self-described "revolutionary" who literally founded a group called "Insurgence USA." After documenting his own account of what transpired, including the suspect shooting death of Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt, he was arrested and charged for his role in helping to incite the riot.
He would later be given an open and welcome platform on CNN to relate what he saw at the capitol building, along with a CNN correspondent who had been right next to him within the building.
One of the protesters that Sullivan filmed appears to have staged the event that led to Babbitt's shooting. He used a helmet handed to him to smash a window that Babbitt crawled through before being shot. He escaped with police standing by idly nearby, and was recently arrested. The FBI launched a manhunt, and has finally apprehended and charged the suspect, named Zachary Alam. No charges were recommended for the officer who shot and killed Babbitt.
The Capitol riots chaos meant that the president's claims the election was 'stolen' would never be fully heard by the bulk of the American people. The censorship of the big tech thought police would drive people to hear the case that President Trump had incited a 'riot' as presented overwhelmingly through a mainstream media filter.
It turns out that basis for suspending Donald Trump from digital and social media platforms was entirely erroneous. Therefore, their rationale for continuing their bans and suspensions is purely political and has nothing to do with public "safety."
Furthermore, the entire basis of the Democrats' impeachment vendetta against Donald Trump is fundamentally eroded to the point of it appearing to be nothing more than a cynical ploy.
The question that now arises: Was it a "trap"?

Capitol security officials resign under pressure from Congressional leadership over breach
1-7-2021
The U.S. Capitol police chief will soon be gone, along with the sergeants-in-arms of both the House and Senate
Three top officials responsible for protecting the U.S. Capitol and congressional chambers all resigned on Thursday, amid calls for heads to roll after the building was stormed by a mob of angry Trump supporters the day before.
First to go was House sergeant-at-arms Paul Irving, whose resignation was announced by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) at her weekly news conference. The speaker also called for Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund to resign, criticizing the top cop for a "failure of leadership."
According to The New York Times, Pelosi said of Sund, "He hasn't even called us since this happened." The Associated Press reported that the head of the Capitol Police union also called for Sund to step down.
Chief Sund announced his resignation that evening, writing in a short memorandum that he would remain in his active leadership post on Jan. 17, but then transition into "sick leave status" to use up the 440 hours remaining on his balance of paid sick time off.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) then released a statement confirming that he had "requested and received the resignation of Michael Stenger, the Senate Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper, effective immediately."
Congressional leaders echoed the public dismay over how easily the Capitol building and its chambers were breached.
The AP also reported that three days prior to the protest, U.S. Capitol police turned down an offer from the Pentagon to send National Guard troops to assist in keeping the Capitol grounds secure. The department also turned down the Justice Department's initial offer to send FBI agents on Wednesday as the building was being swarmed.
Capitol police also faced heavy criticism Wednesday when video circulating online showed officers appearing to allow outside barrier gates to open for protesters demanding to enter the premises. TheBlaze made repeated requests seeking comment on the footage Wednesday evening, but never received a response.
Another video published by TheBlaze showed officers using great effort to keep barriers in place, but they were overcome by the mob who forced their way past law enforcement.
In a separate statement Wednesday, McConnell praised the Capitol police officers "who stood bravely in harm's way during yesterday's failed insurrection," before saying that the events of the day "represented a massive failure of institutions, protocols, and planning that are supposed to protect the first branch of our federal government."
The Senate majority leader called for thorough investigations and "significant changes" before concluding:
"The ultimate blame for yesterday lies with the unhinged criminals who broke down doors, trampled our nation's flag, fought with law enforcement, and tried to disrupt our democracy, and with those who incited them. But this fact does not and will not preclude our addressing the shocking failures in the Capitol's security posture and protocols."
