Police identify persons of interest in wild Brampton sword fight
A day after frightening video of a sword-swinging fight in Brampton emerged online, Peel regional police Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich said investigators have identified persons of interest in the melee.
"I can confidently say that the investigation is progressing well and we anticipate holding those people accountable," Milinovich said Tuesday while showing off more than $12 million in seized drugs from a separate probe.
"I can very confidently tell you that our team is on it, and we anticipate speaking to the people responsible very shortly."
Milinovich said he didn't want to reveal any further details because the investigation is active.
In a tweet, Brampton mayor Patrick Brown called the video "disturbing" and urged witnesses to come forward with information.
Authorities say the violent incident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday in a parking lot located at McLaughlin Road and Steeles Avenue West, near the Sheridan College Davis Campus.
Video obtained by CityNews shows at least one person holding what appears to be a sword and swinging the weapon toward other people. Others batter each other with fists and kicks.
"We are aware of the video that is circulating on social media. However, if anyone has any other information or video footage, please contact us," a spokesperson with Peel Regional Police told CityNews.
The fight involved a large group of people, police said, and several individuals were assaulted, suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

The World Economic Forum's (WEF) 48th annual meeting is coming to Davos, Switzerland next week. Here are the Davos attendees 2018.
The WEF's organisers are expecting a record number of leaders from G7 economies to attend, along with many other heads of state, leaders of government and international organisations, and business, civil society, academia, the arts and media, with some 400 sessions planned.
US president Donald Trump caused a stir when his administration revealed earlier this month he would be attending - while German chancellor Angela Merkel might also be there, potentially setting up a showdown between Trump and the world's globalist political establishment.

This year's opening address will be delivered by India's prime minister Narendra Modi, with Trump expected to deliver a keynote address before the close of the meeting.
Over 21 percent of participants at this year's meeting will be women, a higher proportion than at any previous meeting and the event will be chaired by seven women - the first all-female panel in its history.
The WEF 2018's all female co-chairs are: Sharan Burrow, general secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation; Fabiola Gianotti, European Organization for Nuclear Research's (CERN) general director; Isabelle Kocher, chief executive at Engie; Christine Lagarde, the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) general director, Ginni Rometty IBM chief executive, Chetna Sinha, founder of the Mann Deshi Foundation, and Erna Solberg, prime minister of Norway.

Other leaders from the G20 include Liu He, general director of CPC Central Committee of the People's Republic of China; Mauricio Macri, president of Argentina, Cyril Ramaphosa, deputy president of South Africa; Michel Temer, president of Brazil, and Alain Berset, president of the Swiss Confederation.
The recipients of the World Economic Forum's 24th Annual Crystal Awards are the actress Cate Blanchett, singer Elton John, and actor Shah Rukh Khan. The awards - presented on the evening of 22 January - celebrate artists who have "shown commitment to improving the state of the world".
The theme for this year's Davos meeting is Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World.

Canadian politician denies misconduct allegations, staff resigns
Reuters Staff
TORONTO (Reuters) - The leader of the main opposition party in Canada's Ontario province denied allegations of sexual misconduct that broadcaster CTV News reported were made by two women, prompting several staff members to resign.
"These allegations are false, categorically untrue - every one of them," Progressive Conservative party leader Patrick Brown said at a news conference held a few minutes before CTV aired the report in its 10 p.m. evening newscast. "I will defend myself as hard as I can with all means at my disposal."

Poilievre declines independent media debate leading to its cancellation
https://thecountersignal.com/poilievre-declines-independent-media-debate/
Conservative Party of Canada leadership candidate Pierre Poilievre declined to attend a debate hosted by independent media.
On Friday, the Independent Press Gallery of Canada (IPG) put out a statement saying that the debate planned for May 30, 2022, was cancelled "due to an insufficient number of candidates participating."
"This would give candidates the unique opportunity to speak directly to the growing number of Canadians, and especially Conservative party members, who don't trust the legacy media and consume their news entirely from independent media," wrote the IPG.
"Unfortunately, this vision of an independent debate did not come to fruition."
Poilievre, along with fellow contenders Scott Aitchison and Patrick Brown, were excluded from a list of candidates who did agree to attend.
"I would like to personally thank Roman Baber, Jean Charest and Leslyn Lewis for confirming their attendance at the debate," said journalist and IPG President Candice Malcolm.
"It's clear that their criticisms of the legacy media are authentic - and we truly value their commitment to independent media."
Poilievre has attended all of the debates planned for the race to date, including the debate hosted by the Canada Strong and Free Network earlier this month. All candidates will also participate in a French-language debate on May 25, 2022.
It is unclear why Poilievre declined the invitation to attend.
Poilievre has repeatedly criticized the mainstream media for bias and their attacks on the trucker convoy.
In January, Poilievre sang the praises of independent media outlets after they were blacklisted by the Bank of Canada from asking questions.
"Bank of Canada is so used to softball questions from press gallery sycophants that it blacklists the few independent media who might ask interesting questions," tweeted Poilievre.

Poilievre derangement syndrome has begun!
https://tnc.news/2022/05/20/poilievre-derangement-syndrome-has-begun/
It's a live edition of Fake News Friday on The Candice Malcolm Show!
"Poilievre derangement syndrome" has taken hold of legacy media reporters this week, as they attempted to tie Poilievre's support of the Freedom Convoy to the horrific Buffalo shooting. Poilievre's rivals, Patrick Brown and Jean Charest, couldn't help but pile on. The Brown campaign even went as far as to alert all Conservative members that a "high-profile" Poilievre supporter used "alarming language" that closely resembles the idiotic "white replacement theory."
But it doesn't stop there. The legacy media also attacked Poilievre over holding and publicly disclosing his cryptocurrency assets while promoting the benefits of decentralized currency during his campaign. The problem for the legacy media is that not only was it not a secret that Poilievre held crypto assets, it is entirely legal and there are actually more Liberal MPs that disclosed crypto assets than Conservatives.
Plus, the format of the Conservative Leadership Debate continues to make headlines but for all the wrong reasons. This week, a Globe and Mail columnist complained that the candidates do not consume Canadian arts and culture. Have you ever watched Canadian TV shows such as "Call My Agent!" or "Orphan Black"? Don't fret - nobody has.
Candice and True North producer Harrison Faulkner discuss these stories and more.

Poilievre has a plan to defund CBC and unite Canadians
https://www.rebelnews.com/poilievre_has_a_plan_to_defund_cbc_and_unite_canadians
Pierre Poilievre was in Quebec City last weekend to discuss his plan to defund the CBC and how he intends to unite Canadians from all over the country.
With Erin O'toole's ousting, the Conservative Party of Canada is now looking for a new leader.
The three biggest players in the leadership race are Patrick Brown, mayor of Brampton in the Toronto area, Jean Charest, former premier of the Quebec Liberal Party and Pierre Poilievre, an Ottawa-area Member of Parliament.
Last Saturday, Mr. Poilievre held a meeting with his supporters at the Blaxton Lebourgneuf restaurant in Quebec City. Many people attended the event, so I asked some of them a few questions to find out why they supported him.
There was also a question period for the media where I was able to share the time with Radio-Canada (CBC). It was also a great opportunity to ask Mr. Poilievre a few questions about his plan to stop subsidizing the CBC.
Here is what happened during this event.

Ontario (Canada) Admits 50% of "COVID" Hospitalizations Not from COVID, Death Count May Also be Misleading
https://www.globalresearch.ca/ontario-canada-admits-50-covid-hospitalizations-not-from-covid-death-count-may-also-misleading/5766532
COVID hospitalizations and deaths throughout this pandemic have been inaccurately reported. This has been made clear by government health officials throughout the pandemic in multiple regions across the planet. One of them is in Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario's chief medical officer, reaffirmed this once again in a press conference held at the end of December. She stated that Ontario's daily reported COVID hospitalization numbers haven't been telling the fully story.
She confirmed that approximately 50% of COVID hospitalizations represent people who aren't actually there suffering from COVID, but have gone to the hospital with something else, like a broken leg, and just happened to test positive. The Toronto Sun was one of the few media outlets to emphasize this.
Brampton (an outskirt of the Greater Toronto Area) Mayor Patrick Brown Echoed Moore's statements. On Dec 29, 2021 CTV News Toronto reported that he has heard from a number of physicians that COVID hospitalization numbers may not necessarily paint an accurate picture of the current situation in the province.
He said that approximately 50 per cent of people in hospitals diagnosed with COVID were admitted for another reason.
"They came to the hospital for another procedure and found inadvertently that they had COVID, so no symptoms. So someone might be coming in for a surgery and because we're testing all patients for COVID they find out that way."
"Then they're in the provincial reported data as hospitalization with COVID, but they're not being hospitalized because of COVID. I would suggest it's a bit misleading"
Patrick Brown, CTV News
Hospitals will now be asked to filter these numbers out to present a more accurate count that will inevitably prove to be much lower. Continue…

Canada's mayors treat the public purse as a personal spending account with Bill 21 challenge
https://www.rebelnews.com/canadas_mayors_treat_the_public_purse_as_a_personal_spending_account_with_bill_21_challenge
While I agree entirely with Jyoti's sentiment about Quebec's Bill 21, there are some glaring issues here that must be pointed out.
In Quebec, a law known as Bill 21 prohibits some public servants, including teachers and other government employees in positions of authority, from wearing religious symbols while at work. Per the law, religious symbols could include everything from a turban or a hijab to a visible crucifix. It is a law that has garnered criticism from religious freedoms and charter rights advocates across Canada.
This law has already reared its ugly head a few times - you may recall crucifixes being removed from several public buildings shortly after the bill was passed. Now in a troubling development, a Quebec teacher has been removed from her classroom because her hijab violates the law of the land for public employees.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown committed $100,000 of municipal funding to the legal action against the law that is being launched by the National Council of Canadian Muslims, and called for other municipalities to do the same.
Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek agreed to match the $100,000 contribution with Calgary taxpayer funds, and added the following statement: "What Quebec is doing is absolutely unconscionable. We are issuing a challenge to other municipalities in this country, asking them to contribute towards the legal challenge to get rid of Bill 21".
While I agree entirely with Jyoti's sentiment, there are some glaring issues here that must be pointed out.
Jyoti Gondek really needs to pick a lane. City of Calgary employees, firefighters, police officers and many more are losing their jobs because the city if often failing to acknowledge their deeply-held religious beliefs when it comes to granting religious vaccine exemptions. Jyoti is every bit as bad as Quebec in violating people's rights and religious freedoms - in fact, she might be worse, because she is also engaging in medical coercion while she is at it. Remove the log in your own eye before plucking the speck from your neighbour's, Jyoti. Continue…

Peel Region health official warns "fourth wave is brewing right now"
https://www.rebelnews.com/peel_region_health_official_warns_fourth_wave_is_brewing_right_now
Peel Region's Medical Officer of Health Dr. Lawrence Loh is warning residents of the possibility that a "fourth wave is brewing right now" ahead of Ontario's lifting of some public health restrictions on June 11.
Peel, which neighbours Toronto and includes the large cities of Mississauga and Brampton, has seen some of the highest rates of COVID-19 in the country.
Dr. Loh cautioned that while case counts and hospitalizations continue to decline, moving toward numbers not seen since the fall of 2020, the Delta variant, first reported in India, is a cause for concern.
"On Friday I want to remind our residents that these first steps to reopening are not a full return to normal," Dr. Loh said, with Ontario set to enter its three-stage reopening plan as of 12:01 a.m. Friday.
"We do have high first dose coverage but we have low second dose coverage and the science shows that only 33 to 50 per cent protection is afforded against the Delta variant with one dose," the doctor continued, pointing to data from the United Kingdom that suggested current vaccines were not as effective at fighting this strain.
The health official also warned that reopening too soon could lead to another resurgence in the virus, and further encouraged residents to continue limiting contact with others and following public health protocols.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown recently called on the province to prioritize vaccine shipments to Peel, saying that the large number of crowded factories in the city were "like a tinderbox," and suggesting that the new variant would could "spread like wildfire."
Peel Region has currently vaccinated nearly 73.8 per cent of adults with at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 7.4 per cent of adults are now considered to be fully vaccinated.

Ontario to allow 550 healthcare workers to attend Game 7 between Maple Leafs and Canadiens
https://tnc.news/2021/05/31/ontario-to-allow-550-healthcare-workers-to-attend-game-7-between-maple-leafs-and-canadiens/
The Ontario government has changed its mind about allowing healthcare workers to attend the highly anticipated Game 7 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens.
On Monday morning, Heritage, Tourism, Culture and Sport Minister Lisa MacLeod tweeted that the government will allow 550 fully vaccinated healthcare workers to attend tonight's game in-person.
The decision is a sudden change of heart for the Ford government, which had previously made it clear they were not going to allow spectators to watch the game in-person.
In a statement on Monday, Premier Doug Ford praised Ontario's healthcare workers for their sacrifices during the pandemic and said that 550 fully vaccinated people gathering in the Scotiabank Area will pose "minimal risk" to public health.
The Scotiabank Area has a capacity of 19,800.
The move comes after Quebec allowed 2,500 people to attend Game 6 inside Montreal's Bell Centre on Saturday.
On Sunday, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown launched a petition calling for Ontario to allow 2,500 healthcare workers to attend the game.
"Given the fact that a large number of our essential workers and healthcare workers who have given so much over the last year are fully vaccinated, this would be a way to give the Maple Leafs a boost," Brown told CP24.

I started digging on Superfeed because they are the parent company of Feedme, which Kary Lake has listed on her financial disclosures. This goes with my previous dig on Jeff DeWit the former treasurer of Arizona.
The owner of Superfeed is Floyd Brown who's history goes back to Whitewater. His wife Mary Beth Brown wrote books about Ronald Reagen and Condoleezza Rice. I went through the list of managers of the company and it's quite an interesting group. A lot of people in very high places. Patrick Brown is Floyd Brown's son. It's no wonder Kary Lake has been pushed so hard on Instagram because Superfeed has a deal with facebook.
