Microsoft announces change to its board of directors
REDMOND, Wash. - March 13, 2020 - Microsoft Corp. today announced that Co-Founder and Technology Advisor Bill Gates stepped down from the company's Board of Directors to dedicate more time to his philanthropic priorities including global health, development, education, and his increasing engagement in tackling climate change. He will continue to serve as Technology Advisor to CEO Satya Nadella and other leaders in the company.
On June 27, 2008, Gates transitioned out of a day-to-day role in the company to spend more time on his work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He served as Microsoft's chairman of the board until February 4, 2014.
"It's been a tremendous honor and privilege to have worked with and learned from Bill over the years. Bill founded our company with a belief in the democratizing force of software and a passion to solve society's most pressing challenges. And Microsoft and the world are better for it. The board has benefited from Bill's leadership and vision. And Microsoft will continue to benefit from Bill's ongoing technical passion and advice to drive our products and services forward. I am grateful for Bill's friendship and look forward to continuing to work alongside him to realize our mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more," said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
"On behalf of our shareholders and the Board, I want to express my deep appreciation to Bill for all his contributions to Microsoft. As a member of the Board, he challenged us to think big and then think even bigger. He leaves an enduring legacy of curiosity and insight that serves as an inspiration for us all," said John W. Thompson, Microsoft independent board chair.
With Gates' departure, the Board will consist of 12 members, including John W. Thompson, Microsoft independent chair; Reid Hoffman, partner at Greylock Partners; Hugh Johnston, vice chairman and chief financial officer of PepsiCo; Teri L. List-Stoll, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Gap, Inc.; Satya Nadella, chief executive officer of Microsoft; Sandra E. Peterson, operating partner, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice; Penny Pritzker, founder and chairman, PSP Partners; Charles W. Scharf, chief executive officer and president of Wells Fargo & Co.; Arne Sorenson, president and CEO, Marriott International Inc.; John W. Stanton, chairman of Trilogy Equity Partners; Emma Walmsley, CEO of GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK); and Padmasree Warrior, founder, CEO and president, Fable Group Inc.

THE SILICON VALLEY ANTI-AMERICA, ELECTION INTERFERING PROPAGANDA MACHINE
Zuckerberg has led a bunch of tech industry leaders in launching a political group called FWD.us, which is supposed to be focused on building support for immigration reform. But for their first big TV ads they have decided to run messages that applaud legislators for supporting the dangerous Keystone XL tar sands pipeline and pushing for drilling in the Arctic Refuge. Seriously, what the heck are they thinking? This is a group of people who understand the importance of technology, innovation, and science. They should be leading the fight on climate change and clean energy innovation, not bankrolling ads for dirty energy projects.

WASHINGTON, DC - FWD.us President Todd Schulte issued the following statement today on the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling, at the Department of Justice's request, to prohibit the addition of a citizenship question for the first time since 1950 to the upcoming 2020 Census:
WASHINGTON, DC - "We are grateful that the Supreme Court has rejected the Administration's attempts to add a citizenship question to the 2020 United States Census and remanded this to the lower court. The Court has made very clear that the reasons given by the U.S. government for adding a citizenship question were clearly, entirely, and simply false - which they were. Adding a citizenship question could have led to a dangerous under-counting of the U.S.' real population, particularly in immigrant communities and communities of color. Given the Administration's own timeline for printing, it is clear that this question cannot be on the 2020 Census."

Repost from LB by request:
Dragged myself over to DoS FOIA reading room (soooo sucks since their 'upgrade') looking for whether or not the Russian Soros Omidyar from notables in Bread #5550 showed up. Why of course he did. HRC, Huma and Cheryl Mills talking about Potential Invitees for a "Tech" Dinner in 2009 is one instance. The outline of the program is redacted (???) but the list of invitees remains. (Gotta have the dinner soon if it's going to influence the speech…)
1) Padmasree Warrior, CISCO
2) Carol Bartz, Yahoo!
3) John Thompson, Symantec
4) Pierre Omidayr, Ebay and Omidyar Networks
5) Anthony Jiminez, MicroTech
6) Luis Ubinas, Ford Foundation
7) Julius Genachowski, Chairman FCC
8) Craig Mundie or Steve Ballmer, Microsoft
9) Steve Jobs, Apple
10) Michael Joseph, Safaricom and M-Pesa
11) Ory Okolloh, Ushahidi
12) Jack Dorsey, Twitter/Square
13) Eric Schmidt, Google
14) James Eberhard, Mobile Accord
15) Jason Liebman, Howcast
16) Carlos Slim, MexTel or Mo Ibrahim, former CelTel and now Mo Ibrahim Foundation
17) Clay Shirky, NYU
18) Andrew Rasiej, TechPresident
19) Jonathan Zittrain, Harvard
The one that is perhaps more interesting is a list of people involved with "The Giving Pledge". It reads like a who's who of dirty money players. My guess is (haven't looked into it yet) that those people who are listed twice are both individual and Foundation givers. Also interesting is how they were actively looking to rope in Chinese 'philanthropists'.
It's nice that they put all the bad guys on lists for us, isn't it? These are the only two I've looked at so far, but since they contain some fertile digging material and some new names, thought I'd drop them.
