The nominees for the TVA board announced Tuesday by the White House include:
* Robert P. Klein, a lifelong resident of Chattanooga who worked at both Chattanooga Gas Co. and EPB, was formerly the Tenth District international vice president for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) union, which consists of Tennessee, Arkansas, North and South Carolina. During his career, Klein has served on the executive committee and board of directors of the United Way of Chattanooga, the Tennessee Labor-Management Conference, the Tennessee Safety and Health Congress and the Tennessee Valley Trades and Labor Council, where is served as president for 14 years.
If he is confirmed, he would be the second Chattanoogan on the TVA board, in addition to former Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce President Bill Kilbride.
* Kimberly Caudle Lewis is chief executive of PROJECTSYZ, Inc., a Huntsville, Alabama business that provides products and services for engineering, logistics, technical services, manufacturing and international foreign military sales. Lewis has a 25-year career spanning business operations and management, technology, and federal government contracting and was the first black female elected as chair of the Huntsville / Madison Chamber of Commerce. Grand Jury Indicts Texas School Board Members for Alleged Critical Race Theory Secret Meetings
"violated the Open Meetings Act as they discussed a racial agenda that was widely opposed by their constituents"
Two days ago, we ran a story about teachers in California who were told to hide Critical Race Theory materials from parents.
Now we are learning of a similar situation in Texas, involving school board members.
Luke Rosiak reports at the Daily Wire:
Grand Jury Indicts School Board Members For Alleged Secret Discussions About Racial Agenda
Two Texas school board members were indicted on charges that they violated the Open Meetings Act as they discussed a racial agenda that was widely opposed by their constituents.
Carroll Independent School District (CISD) president Michelle Moore and vice president Todd Carlton were indicted by a grand jury for texts involving the school district's "Cultural Competence Action Plan," The Texan reported.
The board is required to meet in public, but the texts allegedly involved enough school board members that it may have amounted to a secret, unofficial meeting under the law.
In December, a judge separately instituted a restraining order prohibiting the school officials from moving forward with work related to a District Diversity Council, which in August issued a 34-page plan that included a proposal for racial training in schools that would cost $425,000 the first year, including $35,000 for speakers.
The cultural competence plan called for hiring "a Director of Equity and Inclusion" and "embed[ding] diversity and inclusion training for students as an 'enrollment to graduation' process in all grades."
Rosiak points out that the hiring of a diversity administrator likely would have led to the implementation of Critical Race Training.
Eric Lendrum of American Greatness emphasizes the same point:
CISD had previously attempted to implement conditions recommended by a report from a "District Diversity Council" in August of last year. The report, among other things, suggested hiring a "Director of Equity and Inclusion," "embedding diversity and inclusion training for students as an 'enrollment to graduation' process in all grades," and spending over $425,000 on "racial training," including approximately $35,000 to bring speakers to school. A judge in December ultimately issued a restraining order halting the district's efforts to implement these plans.
The fact that educators in two different states have been caught secretly plotting to implement Critical Race Training in the same week should ring every parental alarm bell that exists.
The left knows that parents don't want this, but leftists are advancing their agenda anyway, in secret.
These are not people who care about the well being of your children.

Q Research General #5281: Tariff Man Edition
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The city of Norfolk has agreed to pay $4.9 million to four former sailors who were wrongly convicted of a woman's rape and murder based on intimidating police interrogations. A copy of the settlement agreement for the "Norfolk Four" was obtained by The Associated Press.
The state also has agreed to pay $3.5 million.
The payments close out a decades-long case that drew widespread attention as the men's innocence claims were backed by dozens of former FBI agents, ex-prosecutors and crime novelist John Grisham.
"These guys can now put all this behind them and try to recoup their lives," said Tony Troy, a lawyer who represented one of the sailors.
The men - Eric Wilson, Danial Williams, Joseph Dick and Derek Tice - were pardoned by then-Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe last year of the 1997 rape and murder of Michelle Moore-Bosko.
Moore-Bosko's husband found her stabbed and strangled body in their apartment in July of that year after returning from a week at sea.
Williams, who lived in the same building, was quickly identified as a suspect because a neighbor told police he had a crush on the victim. Williams admitted to her rape and murder - the first of a series of confessions that the men, then-sailors at the Naval base in Norfolk, say were forced by police.
DNA evidence matched only one person: Omar Ballard, the fifth man convicted in the case. Ballard, who pleaded guilty in 2000, acknowledged he was solely responsible and is serving a life sentence.
The Norfolk Four have said they cracked after they were threatened with the death penalty and repeatedly called liars. One of the men recalled a detective shoving him into a corner and showing him a picture of Moore-Bosko's bloody body. The confessions conflicted with one another. Ballard's account was the only one containing information matching the crime scene.
The detective who questioned them, Robert Glenn Ford, was convicted in 2011 of extortion and lying to the FBI in unrelated cases.
In vacating some of the Norfolk Four's convictions, a federal judge once declared that "no sane human being" could find them guilty.
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam approved legislation earlier this year that gives the men $3.5 million in state funds contingent on them resolving claims against the city.
Sen. Scott Surovell, a sponsor the legislation, said he was pleased that the city agreed to settle rather than fight the men….
