The GOP Is the Party of Putin
"RUSSIAN PROPAGANDA HAS MADE ITS WAY into the United States, unfortunately, and it's infected a good chunk of my party's base." That acknowledgement from Michael McCaul, Republican chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, was echoed a few days later by Michael Turner, the chairman of the Intelligence Committee. "It is absolutely true, we see, directly coming from Russia, attempts to mask communications that are anti-Ukraine and pro-Russia messages, some of which we even hear being uttered on the House floor." Among the falsehoods that GOP members of Congress are repeating is the notion that the Ukraine war is actually a battle between NATO and Russia. "Of course it is not," Turner told CNN. "To the extent that this propaganda takes hold, it makes it more difficult for us to really see this as an authoritarian versus democracy battle."

Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) and his estranged wife have settled their acrimonious divorce case, meaning that fellow GOP Rep. Darrell Issa won't be deposed in the case.
Turner and his wife, Majida Mourad, have been locked in an ugly divorce fight since last May. The couple were married in Dec. 2015. Turner has been seeking hundreds of thousands of dollars from Mourad - a wealthy lobbyist and former congressional aide - as part of a divorce settlement.
POLITICO reported last month that Turner handed Issa a letter from Turner's attorneys stating they would like to depose the California Republican as part of the case. There had been speculation for months on Capitol Hill about Issa's alleged role in the breakup of Turner's marriage, but Issa denied any romantic relationship with Mourad.
"Majida Mourad and Congressman Michael Turner have come to a resolution of all matters between them, and wish each other the best in their future endeavors," said a statement from lawyers for both sides. "Neither party will have any further comment and asks that their privacy in this matter be respected."
No financial arrangements were disclosed by the attorneys.
The settlement ends what could have been an embarrassing situation for both lawmakers as well as House Republicans.
Issa insisted he had done nothing wrong and had never been involved with Mourad. Issa said the two have been friends for years and share Lebanese-American heritage.
"As far as I know she's been completely faithful to her husband and you know, certainly I would have nothing to do with anything there," Issa told ABC News. "She's made the same denial, and now I understand that he's not claiming that. In Ohio, you can claim infidelity. He didn't."

In Kyiv visit, House Republican says U.S. support for aid to Ukraine is 'overwhelming' Intelligence Committee Chairman Michael Turner of Ohio spoke alongside other GOP congressmen in a brief visit to Ukraine's capital.
April 3, 2023
KYIV, Ukraine - The head of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee said Monday that there is "overwhelming" support in the United States to continue supplying aid to Ukraine in its fight against Russia, despite vocal opposition from a hard-right faction of his own Republican Party.
Rep. Michael Turner of Ohio, the Republican chairman of the committee, which serves as the House's main body for overseeing American intelligence organizations, spoke alongside three other GOP congressmen during a brief visit to Kyiv.
"There are those on the left and on the right who question continued support or the amount of support. That will certainly be part of the debate," Turner said. "But overwhelmingly, there is support for continuing aid to Ukraine, so that they can continue to fight against this aggression of Russia."
The trip to the Ukrainian capital was the latest effort fromtop-ranking Republicans in the House, who are laying the groundwork for continued U.S. assistance but facing opposition in their own ranks. Emboldened by former President Donald Trump's "America First" approach, many on the right are clamoring for the Ukraine aid to come to an end, creating the potential for a politically bruising fight when the current American assistance runs out.
For instance,Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a likely Trump rival for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, recently suggested that defending Ukraine in a "territorial dispute" with Russia..
With the war in Ukraine now entering its second year,Rep. Chris Stewart of Utahsaid the American people would continue supporting aid as long as U.S. resources were being used judiciously.
"This is going to take some time," he said of the war. "That's not surprising. Most conflicts such as this between nation-states take time to resolve themselves. I think the American people understand that, as long as they feel like progress is being made over being careful with the money and being thoughtful of how we involve U.S. resources."
"Most of them have not done that except for a few of the smaller countries," Stewart said. "The American people also look at this and go, 'This is in Europe's backyard. They should be at least as invested in this as we are.' And I don't know that we can assure them right now that that's the case."
Rep. Rich McCormick of Georgianoted that nations have rallied to Ukraine's support.
"For the first time, maybe ever, countries were talking about putting pressure on each other and holding each other accountable inside of NATO," said the congressman, who is a member of the House Armed Services Committee. "There is a new sort of urgency that never existed before, that I think you're seeing Europe actually step up to the plate like they've never done before."
The fourth member of the delegation to Kyiv, Rep. Darin LaHood of Illinois, another member of the intelligence committee, said the visit to Ukraine was aimed at observing the situation on the ground from "the illegal, unprovoked war that Putin engaged in here."
Also in Kyivto underline the importance of support for Ukraine wasformer U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who joins a long list of potential Republican candidates for the presidential nomination.
"Why is it that the United States should expand its resources and its people's resources to support the effort here that you all are engaged in? I think it is pretty straightforward," Pompeo said Monday during an event organized by prominent Ukrainian businessman Victor Pinchuk. "If we have learned one singular thing" that is that "when bad guys begin to march, they do not stop marching."
Asked about the dissenting voices in the United States,Pompeo said that "your president has asked for equipment. He hasn't asked for our young men and women. So long as we stay in that place, I'm convinced that most American leaders will see it that way and will support the continued efforts."

The Full List of RINOs Who Helped Adam Schiff Avoid Fine and Censure.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) had a plan to censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) for his role in perpetuating the Russia hoax, which ended up costing U.S. taxpayers tens of millions of dollars, and almost irreparable damage to the country's political system. The move was supported by a large swathe of America First Republicans, though DeSantis supporters like Rep. Thomas Massie came out against it, on spurious terms. Now, the full list of so-called Republicans who sided with Democrats and Adam Schiff can be revealed, perhaps demonstrating which so-called "conservatives" need primary challengers at their next election.
The list of Republicans in Name Only:
Kelly Armstrong (R-ND)
Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R, OR-5)
Juan Ciscomani (R, AZ-6)
Tom Cole (R, OK-4)
Warren Davidson (R, OH-8)
Brian Fitzpatrick (R, PA-1)
Kay Granger (R, TX-12)
Garrett Graves (R, LA-6)
Thomas Kean (R, NJ-7)
Kevin Kiley (R, CA-3)
Young Kim (R, CA-40)
Mike Lawler (R, NY-17)
Thomas Massie (R, KY-4)
Tom McClintock (R, CA-5)
Marc Molinaro (R, NY-19)
Jay Obernolte (R, CA-23)
Mike Simpson (R, ID-2)
Michael Turner (R, OH-10)
David Valadao (R, CA-22)
Steve Womack (R, AR-3)
California Republicans are disproportionately represented in the list, raising questions as to whether their proximity to Schiff in his district (CA-30) affected their votes. Rep. Luna said after the vote: "20 Republicans voted against the fine, censure, and investigation of Schiff. I don't think they read the bill in entirety. Next week, we will be filing a motion to censure and investigate Schiff. We are removing fine as that seems to be what made these Republicans uneasy."

Morell testified that after the debate, he received a call from Steve Ricchetti, chairman of the Biden campaign, to thank him for writing the statement.
"He was the head of the Biden campaign at the time ... Steve thanked me for putting the statement out. And that was the extent of the conversation."
The thank-you call with Ricchetti was organized by fellow signatory Jeremy Bash, "who I work with at Beacon [Beacon Global Strategies] and who is active politically," Morell testified.
Bash, Panetta's former chief of staff-turned-MSNBC security analyst, was later appointed by President Biden to a prestigious role on his President's Intelligence Advisory Board.
Morell did not become CIA director.
In a letter to Blinken sent Thursday, Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Rep. Michael Turner (R-Ohio), chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, wrote: "We are examining the origins of the infamous public statement signed by 51 former intelligence officials that falsely discredited a New York Post story regarding Hunter Biden's laptop as supposed Russian disinformation."
"Subsequent reporting revealed that the New York Post story was not, as the public statement claimed and then-Vice President Biden parroted, part of a 'Russian information operation.'
"This revelation nearly two years after the fact, however, was little consolation.
"The concerted efforts to dismiss the serious allegations in the Post's reporting and to suppress any discussion of the story played a substantial role in the 2020 election."
Jordan and Turner told Blinken they were requesting his assistance because they "have learned that you played a role in the inception of this statement while serving as a Biden campaign advisor ...
"It is apparent that the Biden campaign played an active role in the origins of the public statement, which had the effect of helping to suppress the Hunter Biden story and preventing American citizens from making a fully informed decision during the 2020 presidential election ...
"This concerted effort to minimize and suppress public dissemination of the serious allegations about the Biden family was a grave disservice to all American citizens' informed participation in our democracy."
Jordan and Turner have asked Blinken to hand over all documents and communications relating to the letter and provide the House with the identities of everyone involved in its "inception, drafting, editing, signing, publishing, or promotion."

Republican poised to lead House Intel panel reportedly wants more oversight, less partisanship
The top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee is reportedly vowing, if his party wins control of the chamber in November, to limit the panel's partnership and return to more of an oversight role.
However, the ranking member, Ohio GOP Rep. Michael Turner, should he become committee chairman, will likely face pressure from fellow Republicans to investigate, at least, the overseas business deals of President Biden family members.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has publicly stated a GOP-led House would investigate President Biden's son Hunter Biden.
And Kentucky Rep. James Comer, now the top Republican on the House Oversight Committee, and poised to become chairman, has made clear the panel would look into such business deals by Hunter Biden.
"We need to do the job that we were intended to do," Turner said in an interview with The New York Times. "I believe that there is a hunger between both sides of the aisle - members who are national security-focused, intelligence community-focused - to get this committee back on track."
Turner pointed out in the interview Democrats' decision to begin then-President Trump's first impeachment investigation in the Intelligence committee.

Red flag laws allow law enforcement to take guns away from individuals who have had complaints filed against them that they are a danger with little due process.
But the Safer Communities Act would "force states with red flag laws to adopt strict and comprehensive due process before they qualify for funding," Cornyn said.
The bill also includes a provision to close a so-called "boyfriend loophole," which is unrelated to causes of the Uvalde shooting. It includes prohibiting those with a domestic violence record from purchasing a firearm
"Unless you are convicted of domestic violence, this will have NO IMPACT on your gun rights," Cornyn said.
Fourteen House Republicans voted for the bill: Steve Chabot (Ohio), Liz Cheney (Wyo.), Brian Fitzpatrick (Penn.), Tony Gonzales (Texas), Anthony Gonzalez (Ohio), Christopher Jacobs (N.Y.), David Joyce (Ohio), John Katko (N.Y.), Adam Kinzinger (Ill.), Peter Meijer (Mich.), Tom Rice (S.C.), Maria Elvira Salazar (Fla.), Michael Turner (Ohio), and Fred Upton (Mich.).
Three Republicans didn't vote; 193 voted against it.
Fifteen Senate Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, voted for it: Roy Blunt (Mo.), Richard Burr (N.C.), Shelley Moore Capito (W.Va.), Bill Cassidy (La.), Susan Collins (Maine), John Cornyn (Texas), Joni Ernst (Iowa), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Rob Portman (Ohio), Mitt Romney (Utah), Thom Tillis (N.C.), Pat Toomey (Pa.), and Todd Young (Ind.).
Two Republicans didn't vote; 33 voted against it. Blunt, Burr, Toomey and Portman aren't running for reelection.
The vote came after the Supreme Court issued the most significant Second Amendment ruling in over a decade, handing a win to the National Rifle Association, which challenged a New York law in NYSRPA v. Bruen. The court held that the Second Amendment protects the right of law-abiding citizens to carry a firearm outside their home.
What the Supreme Court got right, the NRA argues, Congress got wrong.
While it supports "school safety with dedicated resources at the federal level, an investment in better access to, and quality of, mental health care," the NRA said it won't support "senseless gun control measures that some in Congress have already said is just a first step that 'paves the way' for additional gun control that will only infringe on the rights of the law-abiding."
The bills "were hastily jammed through with ambiguous language and overbroad definitions to appease gun control supporters in Congress," the NRA added.

Q Research General #19751: FOX changed Trump's statement, ROBERT to JOHN DURHAM Edition
Rep. Jordan: Durham filing shows Trump was right about being spied on
The top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee said Sunday that a blockbuster new federal filing proves ex-President Trump's claim he was being illegally spied on and the Russian collusion tale is a hoax.
??Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio noted Special Counsel John Durham alleged in Friday's legal filing that Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign paid an Internet company to "infiltrate" servers at Trump Tower and the White House to try to tie Donald Trump to Russia.
"Yep, there was spying going on, and it was worse than we thought because they were spying on the sitting ?p?resident of the United States," Jordan told "Fox & Friends." "And it goes right to the Clinton campaign. So God bless John D?urham?.
"?His investigation is taking a long time. But we're getting to ?now what we all suspected," Jordan said. "The only thing we didn't understand was it was worse than we thought?."
In May 2019, Durham was tasked by Trump's attorney general, William Barr, with investigating the origins of the FBI's probe into allegations that the then-president colluded with Russia to win the election.
Rep. Michael Turner ?(R-Ohio) ?said Sunday that Durham's investigation uncovered a "whole new level of corruption and is of grave concern.
"I mean, this is a threat to our democracy itself," Turner said on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures."? "It doesn't matter really which political campaign this is or which political party this is. This is so wrong and allegations of such ?a ?level of illegal activity that goes directly to our faith in our own government that the truth must be found?."
Turner predicted that Durham's probe? could implicate former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former FBI Director James Comey.
"I think that what we see is not just political shenanigans or opposition research that you would see in the normal campaigns where people are trying to find information out about their opponents?," Turner said.

FBI Director Wray Contradicts Biden: Yes Antifa Is a Threat
It's hard to ignore

FBI Director Wray Contradicts Biden: Yes Antifa Is a Threat
Last summer, during congressional testimony on antifa, Wray said the FBI viewed the group as an "ideology" or "movement" but declined to call it an organization. That brought a swift rebuke from then-President Donald Trump and was exploited by candidate Biden, who subtly twisted Wray's quote, calling antifa an "idea" instead and implying the bureau chief said only white supremacists were a true threat.
Last week, however, Wray was repeatedly grilled by Republicans during a House Intelligence Committee hearing, and while he ditched the "ideology" language in favor of just calling it a "movement," he would not call antifa an organization, though he insisted he did not mean it wasn't dangerous and repeatedly said the FBI was investigating and taking it seriously.
Pressed by Republican Rep. Michael Turner on if he was sure antifa wasn't an organization, Wray said he considered it to be more of a "movement":
"We consider antifa to be more of a movement. ... There are certainly local and regional nodes, individuals who self-identify with antifa, who commit violent attacks citing that as their motivation, and we have a number of predicated investigations into such individuals. Antifa is a real thing; it's not a fiction, and it's a concern."
Wray also addressed whether antifa had undergone and organized training:
"We have seen individual instances in small regional nodes of people coming together to train," but "there's not some big, national structure that is responsible for the violence - what we have seen is locally organized nodes." When pressed on the organizing, the FBI chief said "at the local level, in some cases the regional level, we have seen organized activity - people working together."
During a 2020 presidential debate, then-candidate Biden mischaracterized Wray's opinion on antifa to attack former President Donald Trump after Trump made a point to call out the dangers antifa posed to the country:
Biden then falsely implied Wray had said antifa was not a threat and misquoted him, with Biden saying he called antifa an "idea" - not an "ideology" or a "movement."
"His own FBI director said the threat comes from white supremacists - antifa is an idea, not an organization," Biden said, with Trump retorting, "Oh, you've gotta be kidding me." Biden then repeated that "that's what his FBI director said."
"Well, then you know what? He's wrong," Trump said. "When a bat hits you over the head, that's not an idea. Antifa is bad."
But Wray is now making clear that his belief that antifa is a "movement" in no way is meant to downplay the threat:
Wray added that he wasn't trying to minimize the threat, saying his assessment of antifa as a "movement" does not mean they are "any less dangerous or less threatening" and that "we have seen organized, tactical activity at the local and regional level; we're investigating it very aggressively."
Rep. Markwayne Mullin, an Oklahoma Republican, pressed Wray on why he would say that antifa is not a national organization.
"What I can tell you is that we have seen adherents to the antifa movement who organize at the tactical level, locally and regional, what I call small nodes," Wray said, adding, "We are using our Joint Terrorism Task Forces to investigate things like tactics, funding, logistics, targeting, that sort of thing."
In a declassified assessment, the U.S. intelligence community concluded that domestic extremists posed a "elevated threat" in 2021. The assessment seemingly made nods to antifa, singling out "racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists and anti-government or anti-authority violent extremists," but did not mention antifa by name.

More child sex trafficking arrests in Georgia
https://www.ajc.com/news/crime–law/arrested-child-exploitation-charges-after-gbi-fbi-sting/BJ2nCY4TMM61IOPvcx6UwJ/
Nine men were arrested on child exploitation charges after GBI and FBI investigators said they traveled across northeast Georgia to meet up with minors for sex.
The arrests were the culmination of a monthslong, multi-agency sting operation called Operation End Game that was based out of Athens, according to GBI spokeswoman Natalie Ammons.
Thirteen mobile phones were seized as evidence in the sex sting, Ammons said. Investigators had more than 200 exchanges with people on social media platforms over a three-day period that started Thursday, she said.
"Many of those were exchanges in which the subject initiated contact with whom they believed to be a minor and directed the conversation towards sex," she said. In some cases, the subject would send lewd content or pornography to the person they thought was a minor, or ask them for nude photos.
Ammons said some of the men were communicating with multiple investigators posing as minors at the same time.
"Such activity confirms what investigators uncover conducting these types of investigations: that many predators specifically seek out minors on such websites to groom them as potential victims for sexual contact," she said.
The following were arrested and charged in Clarke County on a felony count of computer or electronic pornography and child exploitation:
Morgan Andrews, Maxeys, 27, mold repair technician;
Joseph Kelly, 44, Statham, assembly line worker;
James Morriss Jr., Dacula, 49, sales representative;
Andrew Schafer, Winder, 53, project manager;
Deointe Sims, Athens, 25, assembly line worker;

Michael Turner, Covington, 46, shipping/receiving employee;
Zachary Turner, Colbert, 19, unemployed;
Noe Villafuerte, Winterville, 44, landscaper.

STRATCOM Commander Wants to Put Low Yield Nuclear Missiles on U.S. Submarines
CAPITOL HILL - If the U.S. opts to develop low-yield nuclear missiles, expect the Navy to deploy these weapons as part of the nation's undersea nuclear deterrent, the commander of U.S. Strategic Command told lawmakers Thursday.
If developed, the U.S. low-yield nuclear weapons would fall within limits set by the New START nuclear arms treaty, Air Force Gen. John Hyten, commander of U.S. Strategic Command, told the House Armed Services strategic forces subcommittee. New START, signed in 2010 by the U.S. and the Russian Federation, caps the number of nuclear warheads each nation deploys.
"We'll actually remove big weapons from the submarines and put small ones in," Hyten said. "We're going to have still the same number weapons, they just going to give us a smaller yield. But we think that smaller yield actually gives us a better chance to deter our primary adversary."
Pentagon leaders and members of Congress worry Russia, China and others already are developing low-yield nuclear weapons in an attempt to gain an advantage over the U.S. or allied nations protected by the U.S. nuclear umbrella, said the subcommittee's ranking member, Rep. Michael Turner (R-Ohio).
"There is a concern that we might not retaliate, because if all of our weapons are such a large size, that we would be deterred because we'd be seen as escalating to their escalate," Turner said.
However, not all lawmakers agree that low-yield nuclear weapons dramatically increase the ability of the nation's nuclear triad to deter adversaries. Their worry is developing low-yield nuclear weapons will result in a low-yield nuclear arms race.
"I continue to be unconvinced of the value of low-yield weapons," Rep. Susan Davis (D-Calif.) said.
Several of Davis' colleagues share her skepticism, including HASC chair Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.). Smith is a frequent critic of the low-yield nuclear weapons plan. In September, he was among a group of lawmakers from the House and Senate who sought to prohibit the development of low yield nuclear weapons for submarines.
"We should not fund President Trump's request for new low-yield nuclear weapons. His proposal dangerously lowers the threshold to nuclear use and siphons money away from genuine military readiness needs," Smith said at the time. "We already have a nuclear deterrent that is more than adequate to achieve our national security goals. Funding new, low-yield weapons would only draw us further into an unnecessary nuclear arms race and increase the risks of miscalculation."
Meanwhile, as the Pentagon waits for approval to develop low-yield nuclear weapons, military leaders are also developing hypersonic weapons. However, if created, the Columbia-class SSBN submarines will not carry hypersonics.
"There is no plan to put a conventional weapon on an SSBN," said Vice Adm. Johnny Wolfe, the Navy's director of Strategic Systems Programs.
Wolfe did leave the door open for deploying hypersonic missiles aboard a proposed Columbia-class follow-on submarine that would not be designed to carry nuclear weapons. The Navy is considering shifting Columbia-class production into a guided missile submarine program (SSGN) as the final of the 12 planned Columbia-class boomers are built.
The Navy's Fiscal Year 2020 budget request asks for about $593 million to pay for additional hypersonic flight testing, booster development and evaluating how to integrate hypersonic missiles into various Navy platforms, Wolfe said. He only offered to give lawmakers a timeline for flight testing in a classified hearing.
"The whole goal of these weapons is to not use them," Hyten said. "The key is by being ready, by being obviously ready, and communicating that with the adversary, we will not cross that line, and we will not have to use them. If we're not ready, that's why we're concerned somebody will cross that line."

Q Research General #7089: FB RETURNING TO THE NEWS Edition
A Republican lawmaker on the House Intelligence Committee is pressing Michael Cohen on whether Democrats or their aides "coordinated" with President Trump's former personal lawyer to help him prepare his statements before he testified before Congress.
Rep. Michael Turner (R-Ohio) delivered a letter on Wednesday to Cohen as he was testifying a second time before the panel, asking him to answer a series of questions regarding the extent of contact he had with Democrats on the House and Senate Intelligence committees as well as the House Oversight and Reform Committee.
"Clearly, there will be questions as to whether or not such contacts, if they occurred, constitute witness tampering, obstruction of justice, or collusion, collaboration, and cooperation between the House Democratic majority, their staff, and you," he wrote.
Turner wrote that Cohen acknowledged in statements before the House Oversight committee that prior to his congressional testimony last week, he met extensively with Democratic staff.
The GOP lawmaker in the letter specifically asked about any contact Cohen had with House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.).
Cohen's Oversight testimony was public, but he has twice met privately with the House Intelligence committee.
Turner emphasized that he was not getting into the contents of the closed-door interview, but he was asking about the circumstances surrounding it.
The letter was sent to Cohen's attorney's office on Wednesday morning.
He asked for Cohen to provide details as to whether he had contact with the Democrats, and if so, the dates and times, the committees involved, who he talked to and the length of each contact, as well as other information.
"Were any such meetings helpful to Cohen in the preparation of his statements?" he asked.
"If these meetings occurred, did Democratic Members or staff assist Cohen in preparation of his statements?" he continued.
Turner is not the only lawmaker circling around whether Cohen has met with Democratic staff ahead of his testimony on the Hill.
During his public testimony before the Oversight panel, the committee's top Republican, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.) questioned Cohen on the matter.
"Did you or anyone else on your team cooperate with the Democratic Party in preparing for this hearing?" Hice asked Cohen last week.
"We've spoken to the party," Cohen replied.
He later noted that he's spoken with the Democratic chairs and their staff on the House Intelligence and Oversight panels, and that Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) in large part convinced him in these meetings to publicly testify.
An Oversight committee source indicated that Cohen also spoke to Republican committee staff ahead of the hearing.
Jordan later followed up on Hice's questioning, asking: "Have you spoken to Chairman Nadler or anyone on his staff or have any of your attorneys spoken to Chairman Nadler?"
Cohen said "no" he has not had such conversations, while also noting that he is "not aware" what conversations his attorney has had, but said he will ask them.
Patrick Boland, a Democratic spokesman for the House Intelligence Committee, described the process of meeting a witness ahead of time as a standard, "appropriate."
"We are running a professional investigation in search of the facts, and we welcome the opportunity to meet with potential witnesses in advance of any testimony to determine relevant topics to cover in order to make productive use of their time before the committee," Boland said in a statement to The Hill. "Despite this professed outrage by Republicans, it's completely appropriate to conduct proffer sessions and allow witnesses to review their prior testimony before the Committee interviews them - such sessions are a routine part of every serious investigation around the country, including congressional investigations."
Democrats have largely brushed off Republican pushback over their decision to have Cohen testify. Republicans, who note that he pleaded guilty to lying to Congress last November, say he is a known liar who cannot be trusted.
Over the weekend, Schiff suggested that Republicans are upset Cohen agreed to testify about his former boss.
"The extent of my contact was just inviting him to testify and also trying to allay his concerns about the President's threats against him and his family, but our staff certainly sat down to interview him and that's what you do in any credible investigation," Schiff said over the weekend on CBS's "Face the Nation."

Q Research General #5083: Happy Thanksgiving Edition
Satire my ass, many a truth is said in jest! Amen. 2018 Will Be Glorious!!
Thanksgiving is one of America's oldest and most cherished cultural traditions. The Onion looks back at the history of Thanksgiving.
1621:
First Thanksgiving features the Pilgrims inviting the Wampanoag tribe to dinner and awkwardly asking them what they've been up to for the past year.
1622:
Native Americans begin to understand the Pilgrims' show of goodwill was sort of a one-time thing.
1803:
Louisiana Purchase begins the westward expansion of the U.S., setting the stage for generations of Americans to lie that they can't afford to travel home for Thanksgiving.
1863:
Abraham Lincoln declares Thanksgiving a national holiday in an attempt to unite a divided country by redirecting everyone's hatred toward their families.
1924:
Macy's hosts its inaugural Thanksgiving Day Parade, debuting the classic balloon staples of Snoopy, Spider-Man, and Homer Simpson.
1974:
Elementary school teacher Mary Linn stumbles onto crafting gold by asking her students to trace their little hands for turkeys.
1980:
Bears 23, Lions 17.
1990:
The first turkey ever pardoned, by President George H.W. Bush in 1989, kills a mother and her two children in a drunk-driving accident.
2003:
Fourth-grader Michael Turner led to believe the Pilgrims and Native Americans really hit it off.

US Calls Out Canada For Failed Defense Spending Targets
Republican Rep. Michael Turner of Ohio told NATO's defense and security committee Saturday in Halifax that Canada is failing to meet its own defense spending commitments.
As CBC News reported, Turner, the acting chairman of the committee, reminded Canadian Deputy Defense Minister Jody Thomas that Canada was one of the NATO nations attending a 2014 NATO summit that promised to increase its defense spending to two percent of its GDP.
"Many of the nations that are here are either meeting their two percent or have in place a plan to reach the two per cent," said Turner. "Canada is one of those countries who has not yet put forward a commitment to reach the two percent although that is a commitment that Canada joined in making at Wales."
Thomas could only point to a promise by the Trudeau government to increase defense spending to 1.46 percent of its GDP by 2024. Trudeau has consistently said that Canada's participation in peacekeeping activities offsets its lower defense spending levels, what Thomas called "qualitative" spending.
"Canada's defense budget is growing by 70 percent as a result of Strong, Secure, Engaged [Canada's defense policy]," said Thomas. "We also on the ground are leading a significant number of operations, and we have never not participated in a NATO commitment or operation."

It past the House last year. Senate is next…
I was reading a bit and found this part very interesting:
A year later, Rumsfeld would be recruited back to government as George W. Bush's defense secretary and set about to overhaul the bureaucracy of the Pentagon-a reform that might have included the space corps. But the attacks of September 11, 2001, and the launching of long wars in Afghanistan and Iraq sidetracked that effort.
The proposal has bubbled back up over the years, but last month was the first time it had ever passed the House as part of the National Defense Authorization Act. An amendment to create the space corps, sponsored by Rogers and Cooper, was adopted by the Armed Services Committee with the support of all but one member, Republican Representative Michael Turner of Ohio.

Nigger BO chippin in on satelites
On September 15, 2011, Representative Michael Turner (R-Ohio) called for the United States House Oversight and Government Committee to investigate LightSquared under the premise that the Federal Communications Commission waived a rule for LightSquared because of campaign contributions to Democrats.[44][45] LightSquared officials, who had contributed to both Republicans and Democrats, denied the allegations.[44][45]
Among the issues raised was whether political contributors and investors received favorable treatment by President Barack Obama's administration. Before he became president, Senator Obama had invested between $50,000 and $90,000 in SkyTerra, which later became LightSquared.[46][47] An Air Force General claimed in a closed congressional hearing that he had received political pressure to soften his testimony regarding the negative effects of LightSquared technology.[48][49] However, the General's spokesperson denied there was any improper influence and said that the general's testimony was reviewed appropriately by the Office of the Secretary of Defense and other executive agencies via the established Office of Management and Budget process.[50]
