De Niro Expands Nobu Empire With Sushi-Condo-Hotel Scheme, Expects Revenues To Top $1 Billion
Sushi restaurant and luxury hotel chain, Nobu Hospitality LLC, expects to top $1 billion in revenue within five years as it expands into the real estate market. Partners Robert De Niro, Meir Teper and chef Nobu Matsuhisa unveiled 550 condos and 36 luxury-hotel suites above a Toronto Nobu restaurant.
Nobu, founded in 1994 with one sushi restaurant in New York, has swelled to over 40 locations, including Las Vegas and London, according to Nobu Hospitality CEO Trevor Horwell.
"It's quite a rapid growth," Horwell said, breaking ground at the Toronto project on Mercer Street, in the city's entertainment district, Monday. "Normally in our restaurants we can have over 100,000 customers a year. All we've got to do is convert 10 to 15 percent of those customers to fill our hotels. So that's why we went into hotels." -Bloomberg
The project was announced last year and sold out in three months, while Nobu plans to complete the $231 million two-tower Toronto project in two-and-a-half years.
Hotel rooms will cost up to $600 per night, and condo units - most of which have been pre-sold to local residents, will average $650,000, according to Josh Zagdanski, VP for high rise at Toronto-based Madison Group.
"I've done movies here, a festival here and it's a logical place for us to open," said De Niro, who also attended the groundbreaking, complete with gold shovels and Japanese drummers. -Bloomberg
Nobu has also committed to two more mixed-use developments in Los Cabos, Mexico and Sao Paulo, Brazil - and is looking to expand into Taipei, Hong Kong, Jakarta for at least 10 such projects over the next decade, while adding five hotels and restaurants per year.
New York is also on their radar, however an earlier mixed-use project fell through due to zoning issues, according to Horwell. "We want to do New York without a doubt, but it has to be special," he said. "If we did a mixed-use, it'd have to be the best, because there's some great developments there."
De Niro says he's hoping to see a Nobu resort in the coming years, and has his eye on Bermuda. "There's quite a few things in the works," he said.
One thing we're sure of - Donald Trump won't be allowed into any of them.

Campaign donors
Many of the top inaugural donors also donated millions in support of Trump's presidential campaign.
Trump's top campaign donor, Robert Mercer, the billionaire co-CEO of the hedge fund Renaissance Technologies, poured more than $15 million into outside groups to get Trump elected. Mercer also donated $1 million to the Trump inaugural committee. PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel donated $1 million to Trump's campaign efforts and $100,000 to the inauguration.
Each were top campaign donors and each held close relationships to the administration.
Of the more than $400 million raised to elect Trump, about $50 million was raised by Trump's top 13 contributors (below) - many of whom have found themselves in the Trump administration's inner circle.
Some like Linda McMahon, owner of McMahon Ventures and co-founder of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) empire, donated over $6 million to getting Trump elected. Much of that was donated to Trump-aligned super PACs, such as Future45 and Rebuilding America Now.
McMahon was later appointed administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
In 2009, Dallas banker Andrew Beal, who donated $2.1 million toward Trump's presidential bid and $1 million for the inauguration, worked with Carl Ichan in an attempt to take control of the bankrupt Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. Ichan served as an advisor in the early months of the administration until he resigned ahead of a story detailing potential conflicts of interest.
Others toted close relationships to the administration like Stephen Feinburg, who donated $1.5 million to campaign efforts and had a close military ear in the Trump administration. That was before ex-White House Chief Strategist Stephen Bannon's departure from the administration.
Many of Trump's top donors have stepped into the political spotlight in the wake of Trump and Bannon's public feud.
Contributors like Feinburg, Thiel and Marcus - Trump's second largest campaign donor - held close relationships to Bannon.
Some of them, such as GOP megadonors Adelson and the Mercer family, have since distanced themselves from Bannon in support of Trump. Rebekah Mercer, the billionaire daughter of Robert Mercer who runs the family business, severed ties with Bannon in a January statement to The Washington Post.
"I support President Trump and the platform upon which he was elected," Rebekah Mercer said. "My family and I have not communicated with Steve Bannon in many months and have provided no financial support to his political agenda, nor do we support his recent actions and statements."

Cambridge Analytica whistleblower says Bannon wanted to suppress voters
"Former White House senior strategist Steve Bannon and billionaire Robert Mercer sought Cambridge Analytica's political ad targeting technology as part of an "arsenal of weapons to fight a culture war", according to whistleblower Christopher Wylie.
"Steve Bannon believes that politics is downstream from culture. They were seeking out companies to build an arsenal of weapons to fight a culture war," Wylie said, when asked why investors thought that the political consultancy's efforts would work, targeting people based on psychological profiles and assessment of their personality.

Kwatinetz has made a legal statement saying that the Qatari plans were 'more about perceived influence in America' because he and Bannon were friends.
The Qatari investor repeatedly asked about meeting Bannon before he was fired from his job as Donald Trump's chief strategist in the White House.
And this year when Bannon left Breitbart and lost his backing from hedge fund billionaire Robert Mercer, the Qatari offered to underwrite his political efforts.

Cambridge Analytica dismantled for good? Nope: It just changed its name to Emerdata
( BTW The French verb emmerder means to «P#ss off) but maybe unrelated)
The company formerly known as Cambridge Analytica shocked the media today when it announced an immediate shutdown and liquidation of its business.
That "shutdown," however, may be short-lived as official documents indicate those behind the controversial analytics company will be launching as a new firm with a less-toxic brand.
The surprise announcement came on Wednesday evening, when the UK-based Cambridge Anal., and its parent organization SCL Elections, stated it would enter insolvency proceedings and disband immediately…..
……The UK's official registrar of businesses and organizations, Companies House, lists an active company called Emerdata Limited, headquartered at the same offices as SCL Elections and run by much of the same management and investors as Cambridge Analytica. It even describes itself as a "data processing, hosting and related activities" organization.
For instance, Dr Alexander Taylor was appointed a director of Emerdata on March 28. That's Cambridge Analytica's acting CEO and data wizard Dr Alexander Taylor. Julian Wheatland is an Emerdata director who is also a director within the SCL network of organizations.
Jennifer and Rebekah Mercer are directors of Emerdata, and are the daughters of ultra-wealthy businessman Robert Mercer who created and bankrolled Cambridge Analytica. Billionaire Bob has given tens of millions of dollars to rightwing political efforts. Jennifer and Rebekah also had a hand in Cambridge Anal…..

"Cambridge's demise won't be the last we'll hear from Nix and the Mercer family. In mid-March, reporters uncovered a mysterious British company named Emerdata that had added two of Robert Mercer's daughters, Rebekah and Jennifer, as directors the day before the Facebook data controversy exploded into public view. Company records show that another one of Emerdata's directors is Johnson Chun Shun Ko, a businessman with ties to Erik Prince, the military contractor and brother of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos. As for the three remaining Brits listed as Emerdata directors, all three of them-Alex Tayler, Julian Wheatland, and Alexander Nix-held senior roles at Cambridge Analytica. Their story, in other words, is far from over."

What I've asked Q, and he's never explained, is why, if Trump is supposedly engaged in a life-or-death war with the Rothschilds, why, given the Rothschild connection to Genie Energy, there are so many Ashkenazi Jews with ties to Genie Energy in his cabinet?
Read the article. Also note the link to the Mercer family, who fund Breitbart.

Also note that the Left is getting close to figuring this out, and I expect that once it does, we'll be 'activated' as 'Patriots' to - once again - Die for Israel.
Note also that, since the Ashkenazis originally come from Russia, note Israel, the Arabs consider them as coming from Magog, and being servants of the Anti-Christ.

Consider them the Cain & Abel of modern data-analytic hedge-fund investing. Yugely successful, transformative even.
Question is : who's Cain and who's Abel?
James Harris "Jim" Simons (born 1938) is an American mathematician, hedge fund manager, and philanthropist. He is a code breaker and studies pattern recognition.[4]
Simons' net worth is estimated to be $14 billion.[1]
Simons is a major contributor to Democratic Party political action committees'.[31]
He received a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1958[13] and a Ph.D., also in mathematics, from the University of California, Berkeley, under supervision of Bertram Kostant in 1961, at the age of 23
Simons serves as trustee of Brookhaven National Laboratory, the Institute for Advanced Study, Rockefeller University, the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute in Berkeley and a trustee of Stony Brook University.[32] He is also a member of the Board of the MIT Corporation.

Israel has already granted them the mining rights to the Golan Heights area in Syria it is illegally-occupying. All it needs is regime change.
Trump's cabinet is stuffed with Genie Energy members - the staff of the company is 47% Ashkenazi Jews.

It could be, too, that they used the access to Cambridge Analytical (which I think they got from Mercer) for opponent research. Kelly Anne and Bannon came along with that, I think.
By looking at CA, they knew what the Clinton Campaign may have been doing.
I've read that Jared Kushner developed the data modeling to get the best ROI on money spent per voter; So, if KAC and Bannon had the skinny on CA they could match up the two algorithms to see where Clinton was missing potential voters.
They did see to be able to do pinpoint targeting at the end, when you consider the off the wall places Trump was campaigning in the last few weeks.

Digs on SCL Group, parent company of Cambridge Analytica.
After an initial commercial success, SCL expanded into military and political arenas. It became known for alleged involvement "in military disinformation campaigns to social media branding and voter targeting".[6] According to its website, SCL has participated in over 25 international political and electoral campaigns since 1994.
SCL's involvement in the political world has been primarily in the developing world where it has been used by the military and politicians to study and manipulate public opinion and political will. It uses what have been called "psy ops" to provide insight into the thinking of the target audience.[5] SCL claimed to be able to help foment coups.[7] According to its website, SCL has influenced elections in Italy, Latvia, Ukraine, Albania, Romania, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Mauritius, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Colombia, Antigua, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad & Tobago.[3] While the company initially got involved in elections in the United Kingdom, it ceased to do so after 1997 because staff members did not exhibit the same "aloof sensibility" as with projects abroad.
SCL claims that its methodology has been approved or endorsed by agencies of the Government of the United Kingdom and the Federal government of the United States, among others.
SCL formed Cambridge Analytica to participate in the election process in the United States.[9] It entered the U.S. market in 2012, and was involved in 44 U.S. congressional, US Senate and state-level elections in the 2014 midterm elections.[2] In 2015 it was disclosed that the company had entered the Republican Party presidential primaries, 2016, primarily in support of Ted Cruz. CA is heavily funded by hedge-fund billionaire Robert Mercer, a major supporter of Cruz[6] and then Donald Trump,[9] and is now under investigation by both the UK and the US governments.

ATTENTION
Planefags need assistance with digging into some shady aircraft.
Specifically the companies or organisations operating them.
Today I noticed that there has been a shooting incident at a school in Maryland.
Yesterday I tracked this aircraft from Tenton-Mercer airport in Pennsylvania to Frederick Maryland.
This aircraft was in Florida at the time of the Parkland shooting.
It was also in Florida when Soros was reported to be there.
This aircraft 2-AUER is registered in the Isle of Man.
We have been tracking a number of other aircraft with 2-#### registrations.
they are all carrying Isle of Man registrations but many are owned or operated by Channel Island companies.
My fellow planefags have done some digging and have discovered that previous ownership of these aircraft was by organisations based in and around Wilmington Maryland.
This is starting to stink of a (((clown))) operation along the lines of Air America.
Another aircraft 2-CHIU was recently tracked from Hong Kong to Beijing.
After it was reported fbianon dropped crumbs that the passenger was Stephen Hung.
In light of today's school shooting the digging needs more urgency.
These are civilian aircraft that keep appearing on our military tracking systems. Normally the only civilian aircraft showing on the military trackers are those operated by largish legit companies to provide logistic or training assistance.
These 2-#### aircraft all seem to be operated by small outfits and their movements are erratic and difficult to track.
More info crumbs are in previous breads particularly last night in #898'

Cambridge is a Robert Mercer thing. They're blowing it up thinking they're going to get Trump with it, but you can't address that without also addressing the rest of the social media problems. Which means they lose, bigly because their social media fuckery is worth a million times more to them than comparatively insignificant bit that Trump is associated with.

Mercer got it somehow. That would tie in Bannon and Kelly Anne, I believe, because they came in with the Mercer/Trump deal when they ditched Cruz.
By the UK saying they want to seize the 'servers', I wonder what they are talking about? It makes me think they want to yank the algorithm from it's original source at Cambridge.
It could be that it's just too effective and they want to steal the patent/rights from Mercer. Don't know for sure, but why would the UK have their fingers in this if it's a US election issue?

In 2014, Steve Bannon - then executive chairman of the "alt-right" news network Breitbart - was Wylie's boss. And Robert Mercer, the secretive US hedge-fund billionaire and Republican donor, was Cambridge Analytica's investor. And the idea they bought into was to bring big data and social media to an established military methodology - "information operations" - then turn it on the US electorate."
The author who talked to Wylie (who created it) didn't hook up with him until 2017 "In May 2017, I wrote an article headlined "The great British Brexit robbery", which set out a skein of threads that linked Brexit to Trump to Russia."

Look into Robert Mercer, Renaissance Technologies, and an offshoot company called SCL. It's basically hedge fund AI that can create super detailed profiles of markets, of individual people, of companies, commodities, etc. The same technology can be used to spit that information back out as an automated, projected media reality delivered to the precise corners of the internet where it will spread and resonate the most. It already knows what motivated/invested aspects of the population want to hear and see. It's already under contract and in use by defense agencies.
Just follow the conclusions it is leading you to: the same exact shit they were pushing in the Bush administration. They're just throwing John McCain under the bus to make you feel good while they do it.

-Mercer joined IBM in 1972 and applied a big-data approach to language processing, a foundational tenet of modern artificial intelligence systems.
-After IBM, Mercer became co-CEO of Renaissance Technologies, a hedge fund that uses algorithms to make trading decisions. Open only to Renaissance employees plus a select inner circle, the fund has produced about $55 billion in profit over 28 years

"He started his career at IBM, where he made what the Association for Computational Linguistics called "revolutionary" breakthroughs in language processing - a science that went on to be key in developing today's AI - and later became joint CEO of Renaissance Technologies, a hedge fund that makes its money by using algorithms to model and trade on the financial markets."
((This would be the traditional computer-science definition of AI - programs that perform extremely sophisticated data mining and machine learning, training neutral networks to recognize patterns - rather than the more exotic and less well accepted sense of a 'sentient program')).
Mercer funded Breitbart news

One of the perennial quant guessing games is speculating on RenTech (e.g. see amusing 5-year NP thread), particularly given the fascinating background of Jim Simons (see his arXiv for recent work on differential cohomology). Ignoring public commentary, whose veracity is obviously questionable, careful consideration of historical hiring trends and corresponding employee backgrounds are suggestive. While such speculation is amusing, potential relevance arises in assisting in filtering the exploration of research.
Specifically, several themes are consistent:
Infrastructure / execution: computer scientists speaks to the mundane realities of large-scale offline and online data management, risk management, multi-venue execution, and the usual collection of optimal execution concerns (particularly relevant for liquidity providing and statarb)
Applied mathematics: "natural scientists", with an emphasis on modern physics (much of which is built upon differential geometry and statistical mechanics), seems reasonable given heavy mathematical and statistical modeling
High dimensionality: analysis and signal generation from high-dimensional spaces, which seems reasonable given many trading problems can elegantly be formulated in such a context; plus a deep well exists of both pure and applied math built by academia over the past 20 years; further, this makes obvious sense given Jim's academic background (e.g. see Chern-Simons)
Mixing models: RenTech grew through a combination of small acquisitions and internal development, suggesting "the predictive model" (historically referred to as "Basic System") is not one but rather a collection of heterogeneous models which are dynamically overlaid and mixed; seems reasonable, given market regimes and consistent Medallion performance over the past 20 years
Computational linguistics / NLP: numerous high-profile folks originated from speech recognition, of which numerous advancements over the past 30 years are based upon applied signal processingand statistical information theory (e.g.Mathematics of Statistical Machine Translation, by Brown, Pietra, and Mercer); a particularly consistent theme is HMM (going back to the Dragon system by Baker in 1975), which naturally support mixing via HHMM, and causal filtering(see also Berlekamp, who worked with Kelly)

http:// dujour.com/design/standard-thinking-inside-the-world-of-andr-balazs/
Talk about making an entrance. When the Standard hotel opened back in 2009, all anyone could talk about were the exhibitionists getting freaky in the windows of the 18-story, glass-fronted hotel that had just risen (ha) above the High Line park in Chelsea. This wasn't the first time André Balazs, the man behind the Standard, had flaunted sex to create buzz. The West Hollywood outpost of the hotel opened in 2002 and featured a model in a bikini lounging in a fish tank behind the front desk. At the nearby Chateau Marmont, meanwhile, Balazs made headlines by stocking condoms in the hotel minibars. Part of the appeal of an André Balazs hotel, it seemed, was the feeling that somewhere in the building someone was getting it on.
Most impressively, this fall Susan Sarandon installs the first permanent L.A. branch of her Ping-Pong club, SPiN, at the Standard, Downtown L.A. The Oscar-winning actress had been looking to expand to L.A. ever since the New York branch first opened in the Flatiron District-but couldn't find the right location. The Standard, Downtown L.A. not only fit the brand but also was accessible and offered an easy liquor license. "The only thing you can count on is that Ping-Pong and drinking go well together," Sarandon says with a laugh, adding, "The Standard is witty. They know how to have fun. And André is the right combination of business and hip." The cumulative effect of these big changes at the Standard, it seems, is to create a clubhouse feel. "You can call it a clubhouse," Balazs says. "But I like to think of it as a culture. You keep layering things on. Otherwise you're just a Sheraton. You're just a bunch of rooms." As for the table tennis, he smiles and says, "It's the thinking man's bowling."
Born to Hungarian émigrés who fled their country during World War II, Balazs spent much of his childhood in Cambridge, Mass.
His father, Endre, was an ophthalmologist known for, among other things, extracting a natural Botox from rooster combs, according to news reports; his mother, Eva, was a psychologist.
After high school at the elite Buckingham Browne and Nichols, Balazs shipped off to Cornell University, where he got bitten by the writing bug and launched newspapers and magazines, he said. He then went to Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where "I was taught by some of the last greats of the Watergate era."
But his first job, in the 1980s, was with Biomatrix, a New Jersey-based biotech company he founded with his father. Years later, in 2000, Genzyme bought the company from Balazs's father for $700 million, according to news reports.
But back in the 1980s, when the Downtown clubbing scene was in full force, Balazs was living in Soho. In 1985, he married Katie Ford, whose family founded the Ford Modeling Agency. (The two divorced two decades later.)
Then in the early 1990s, teaming up with architect Campion Platt, Balazs bought two properties that put him on the map: The Chateau Marmont, a rundown Hollywood property, and the Mercer Hotel, a six-story former warehouse near his Soho apartment.
He showed a deft financial touch with the Mercer, said Paul Stern, a managing director of Wharton Equity Partners who handles hotel investments for the firm.
The $33 million redevelopment of the Mercer required a large loan from a Japanese bank, which Balazs and Platt defaulted on when the economy turned, analysts say. But with the bank panicking, Balazs eventually bought back his loan for a mere $3 million.
His hotels are not large - some have less than 100 rooms - but like Ian Schrager hotels, most of them have been hot trendsetters with coveted restaurants and bars like the so-called Boom Boom Room at the top of the Standard High Line.

>Mooning Miami: Balazs Bares All
If you're thinking of working for hotelier Andre Balazs (the Mercer), be forewarned: It may involve nudity. On December 4, Balazs (who's split with his wife, Katie Ford) threw a birthday party for a staffer at his new South Beach hotel, the Raleigh. After dinner, he jumped into the pool naked. "I couldn't help but succumb to the charms of the Raleigh," he tells us. We stopped by the Raleigh, and we didn't have any urges to strip down. But then again, says a source, "Andre skinny-dips with everyone."

Bannon and brietbart were good friends, when andrew was murdered, bannon declared war, enough is enough, bannon brought Mercer funding to brietbart news, made it what it is today, soon after brietbart died bannon met with Trump for one of first interviews, I think he is the one who convinced trump to run back then, trump didn't like the thought of brietbart being murdered either, the time was right to start thinking about the gameplan to be used, why do you think trump appointed bannon chief strategist?
