The July 13 attack on a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, was the first of two attempts on Trump's life over the summer. A counter sniper returned fire and killed suspect Matthew Thomas Crooks, 20.
In the second attempt, 58-year-old suspect Ryan Routh was arrested on Sept. 15 after a Secret Service agent saw someone pointing a rifle out of the tree line at the edge of the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, as the former president was golfing there.

Neither the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) nor the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) was willing to confirm whether they are investigating a Nashville woman who threatened to kill former President Trump while he gave a keynote speech at Bitcoin 2024, the largest Bitcoin conference in the world.
The conference was held over the weekend in Nashville.
Last week, before the event, an X user called @bann0_, whose account has now been suspended for breaking X's terms of service, posted a photo with a pistol and threatening message.
Several X account holders took screenshots of the threat before "bando" was suspended, however. In all, the post was seen by millions of accounts across the globe.
"Trump in Nashville it's my turn . and [you know] they call me Ms. not [going to] miss s***," the post said.
The user behind the account was confirmed to be IreYanna Thomas, who in February posted a photo of herself from her high school yearbook.
That led users to Thomas' LinkedIn, which says she is a student at Nashville State Community College (NSCC).
After Thomas' initial post threatening Trump and after making her X account private, she made three more posts defending her threat.
Those posts are too graphic for publication, but in them, Thomas claims the threat was a joke, tells people to leave her alone using graphic and colorful language, and implies that anyone who disliked her threat wants to have sex with her.
Some online commentators unleashed their fury on NSCC.
Monday, The Tennessee Star confirmed through the school's Associate Vice President for Communications and Marketing, Tom Hayden, that Thomas had been a student as NSCC, but is no longer a student there.
The FBI refused to comment on whether it is investigating Thomas.
"As a standard rule, the FBI doesn't comment on the existence, possibility, or likelihood of an investigation," Mary Clement of the FBI's Memphis Field Office told The Star.
Secret Service did not respond to a comment request.
On July 13, Trump held an outdoor rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where 20-year-old Matthew Thomas Crooks attempted to assassinate him. Trump was shot in the ear.
In the aftermath of the attempted assassination, Tennessee Democrats have refused to tone down their violent rhetoric against Trump, condemning him as an "authoritarian," likening him to Adolph Hitler, and accusing him of being a bigot who is using racism to gain power.

The gunman who shot former President Donald Trump at an outdoor campaign rally last weekend wrote an anonymous message on the gaming platform Steam in the days leading up to the assassination attempt.
The shooting killed a firefighter who was attending the rally with his family and critically injured two other attendees.
The Steam message reportedly surfaced during the Secret Service briefing with lawmakers on Wednesday.
Matthew Thomas Crooks had posted that "July 13 will be my premiere, watch as it unfolds."
Officials said that Crooks also used the gaming platform Discord, but the company said it hasn't discovered any evidence that Crooks used it to "plan this incident, promote violence, or discuss his political views."

Irvine Man Who Allegedly Posed as Media Member Charged in Capitol Breach
By City News Service - Published 2 hrs ago - An Irvine man who allegedly wore a black helmet and tactical vest labeled "Press" to impersonate a member of the media while storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 was arrested Friday, according to court papers obtained Saturday.
Matthew Thomas Purse, 45, was arrested in Irvine and charged in federal court in the District of Columbia with entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building, according to a federal criminal complaint made public Friday.
Video footage appears to show Purse entering the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 at about 3 p.m., carrying a long black pole with what appears to be a recording device attached, the affidavit alleges. After entering the building, Purse allegedly proceeded to the Rotunda.
As depicted in photos attached to the affidavit, Purse was apparently identifiable in the crowd due to the pole as well as the white "Press" labels on his attire.There is no evidence that Purse is a member of the presslike there is no evidence of voter fraud? or had credentials of any kind regarding the U.S. Capitol, according to the affidavit.
It was not immediately known when Purse might appear in either Los Angeles or Santa Ana federal court for an initial appearance next week.
Purse wasallegedly identified by a confidential source(Handler?) in video footage via social media showing crowds breaking into the Capitol and wandering throughout the building, according to an affidavit filed with the complaint.

Relentless Trump: Names Judge To Replace Barrett's Vacant Seat On Seventh Circuit
President Trump. determined to use his power while in office to strengthen the conservative tenor in the judiciary around the nation, is wasting no time finding a replacement for the seat likely to be vacated by the ascension of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.
Trump has nominated a replacement for the soon-to-be empty seat on Seventh Circuit Court Appeals: Thomas Kirsch, 46, presently the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana. Kirsch graduated from Harvard Law School and served as counsel to the Assistant Attorney General in charge of the DOJ's Office of Legal Policy, Powerline notes, adding, "The Senate approved Kirsch's nomination for U.S. Attorney by a voice vote. This time around, he will face fierce opposition from Democrats. However, Republicans have the votes to confirm Kirsch and enough time (approximately two months) in which to get it done."
The Chicago Tribune reported that Kirsch has "built a reputation for aggressively pursuing public corruption and gang crimes. Earlier this year, Kirsch announced wire fraud charges against longtime Whiting Mayor Joseph Stahura alleging he misused campaign funds for personal gain. In 2019, his office brought sweeping racketeering charges against 17 members of the Latin Dragons street gang alleging they were responsible for 11 murders and dozens of other shootings, stabbings and assaults."
Trump has been joined in his mammoth effort to change the judiciary by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. In February, after the Senate acquitted President Trump in his impeachment trail, McConnell immediately filed cloture on a number of judges as he continued his relentless march toward remaking America's judiciary. The judges included Andrew Lynn Brasher to be U.S. Circuit Judge for the Eleventh Circuit, Joshua M. Kindred to be U.S. District Judge for the District of Alaska, Matthew Thomas Schelp to be U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri, John Fitzgerald Kness to be U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois, and Philip M. Halpern to be U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York.
In March 2019, Politico reported that McConnell was intent on moving as quickly as he could to get conservative judges confirmed:
The Senate is on track to confirm the 34th Circuit Court judge of Trump's presidency in the next week and the GOP has three more ready for floor action; that would give Trump roughly 20 percent of the Circuit Court seats in the country after just two years in office. At this rate, McConnell and Trump could leave few, if any, vacancies there for a potential Democratic president in 2021.
Even more alarming for Democrats, the GOP is also preparing to pull the trigger on the "nuclear option" and change Senate rules once again with a simple majority to allow much quicker confirmation of lower court judges in the coming months. ...
Trump currently has 128 District Court vacancies to fill, and each one can take multiple days under current rules if any senator demands a delay; if Republicans change the rules, Trump could conceivably fill most of those over the next 20 months.

Milwaukee: Former US House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy says America's relationship with Australia "will only be stronger" under a second Trump presidency, including the future of the AUKUS submarine pact.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention, the senior Trump ally sought to assuage concerns about what it might mean for the defence pact between Australia, the US and the UK if Trump is re-elected in November.
"That will be very safe," McCarthy told this masthead, citing alliances between the two countries, such as the Five Eyes partnership between Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and America.
"I will tell you, the bipartisan support that this deal has in Congress is tremendous. I've seen it on both sides coming as a former Speaker."
"And I think the relationship that America has with Australia will only be stronger."
McCarthy was speaker for about 10 months before he was ousted in a right-wing revolt led by Florida congressman Matt Gaetz, who was seen encountering McCarthy on the floor.
But he remains a senior GOP operative and has been touted in some reports as a "top candidate" to be a chief of staff in a future Trump administration.
His comments came as Republicans gathered in Milwaukee for the second day of their national convention, after Trump and his vice presidential pick J.D. Vance were formally nominated to run for the White House against incumbent President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
But concerns about the former president's safety intensified after national security officials revealed they had beefed up security for Trump after uncovering evidence of an alleged plot to assassinate him.
According to officials, there is no known connection between the Iranian plot and the attempted assassination that took place in Butler, Pennsylvania.
But the fact that security protocols had been tightened a few weeks before Trump's rally raised further questions among those at the convention about how Matthew Thomas Crooks, 20, was able to get within range of the Republican from a roof outside the rally venue.
"I never would have thought, in this day and age, with security and the way the Secret Service is, that someone like that could get anywhere near what was happening. It was a sad day for America," said New York local Matt Luvera, holding a corflute featuring Trump's now-iconic photo as he was whisked to safety on Saturday.
Rodney Davis, a former US congressman for Illinois, demanded answers from Secret Service boss Kim Cheatle.
"There was a perimeter building and numerous citizens standing there, pointing out that there's a man with a gun - who's not in law enforcement - trying to get a line of fire at the former president of the United States and current nominee," he said.
"Thank God, those shots missed."
Two days after his near-death experience, Trump appeared at the convention on Monday night, delighting delegates who cheered and chanted as he made his way through the crowd to sit alongside his newly minted running mate.
But despite his resilience, McCarthy noted that Trump "seems a little different".
"I talked to him the day after and he literally heard the bullet. And I think when you saw him last night, you saw the movement in that room, but I hope you looked at him. He seems a little different - and I think anybody would be."
