'What a stupid question': Trump demeans three black female reporters in three days
November 09, 2018
President Trump has made no secret of his contempt for reporters, whom he calls "fake news" and "enemy of the American people." He's also had unkind things to say about women and people who are African American.
This week, he hit a trifecta, singling out three African American women who are journalists. The women - Abby Phillip, April Ryan and Yamiche Alcindor - earned his contempt apparently just for asking him questions.
Trump called one of Phillip's questions "stupid," described Ryan as "a loser" and brushed off Alcindor, saying her question was "racist."
Phillip, a CNN reporter and former Washington Post journalist, drew Trump's wrath on Friday, after she asked whether he hoped Matthew G. Whitaker, Trump's appointee as acting attorney general, would "rein in" special counsel Robert S. Mueller III's probe of Trump's presidential campaign.
"What a stupid question that is. What a stupid question," Trump snapped. He didn't answer the allegedly "stupid" question, but he did pour more contempt on Phillip. "I watch you a lot," he said. "You ask a lot of stupid questions."
He suggested he was considering pulling other reporters' press credentials to cover the White House, as he did with CNN reporter Jim Acosta on Wednesday. Among those he brought up in that context was Ryan.
"You talk about someone who's a loser," Trump said of Ryan, a reporter for American Urban Radio Networks and a contributor to CNN. "She doesn't know what the hell she's doinG. She gets publicity and then she gets a pay raise, or she gets a contract with, I think, CNN. But she's very nasty and she shouldn't be. You've got to treat the White House and the office of the presidency with respect."
Trump's "loser" comment came two days after he admonished Ryan at a White House news conference.
"Sit down! I didn't call you," Trump commanded after Ryan tried to ask him about alleged voter suppression in the midterm elections. "Such a hostile media, it's so sad," Trump added as Ryan pressed him. "You rudely interrupted him," Trump told her, referring to another reporter.
A few moments later, Alcindor asked Trump about his recent characterization of himself as "a nationalist" and whether that label was "emboldening white nationalists."
Trump interrupted her and responded, "I don't know why you say that, that is such a racist question." He repeated that characterization - "racist" - two more times.
Trump has disparaged many people, so his responses to Phillip, Ryan and Alcindor might simply reflect equal-opportunity contempt. But all three of the latest examples fall into the categories of people - journalists, women, African Americans - for whom Trump has reserved special nastiness. Among the African American figures are Democratic Reps. Maxine Waters of California and Frederica S. Wilson of Florida.
"He's not able to finesse his disdain for certain people," Ryan said in an interview Friday. "Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately because you can see for yourself what it is, perception is reality with this president. . . He attacks the people he feels are beneath him."
She added, "He's not apparently built for this. Being in the pressure cooker of the White House has exposed him for what he is."
Phillip didn't respond to several requests for comment on Friday. Alcindor declined to comment but tweeted after Wednesday's news conference, "I followed up the president calling my question 'racist' with a policy question about his proposed middle class tax cut because that's what journalists do. We press on. We focus on the privilege of asking questions for a livinG. We do the work."
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders didn't respond to a request for comment.
The attacks on the three women left Sarah Glover, the president of the National Association of Black Journalists, shaking her head.
"The most powerful man in the free world is verbally abusing journalists," she said. "Donald Trump's comments this week have reached an all-time low with attacks on three black female journalists."
She called Trump's comments about Ryan, Phillip and Alcindor "appalling and irresponsible. They should be denounced."

Robert Mueller pursues new Trump-Russia collusion leads despite talk of probe winding down
By Rowan Scarborough - The Washington Times - Sunday, March 17, 2019
Special counsel Robert Mueller has been pursuing several Russia collusion leads even as a number of media outlets say his final report is due soon, according to court filings and sources.
Former acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker said in January that he had been read-in on the nearly two-year probe and concluded it was "close to being completed."
But there are signs that Russia issues remain:
- Court filings in the prosecution of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort show that Mr. Mueller is still investigating a fall 2016 meeting at a Manhattan cigar bar where the lifting of U.S. sanctions on Russia was discussed.
- Mr. Mueller still has questions about the Ukraine amendment to the 2016 Republican Party platform.
- The indictment of Trump political adviser Roger Stone for allegedly lying to Congress sets up the possibility of a plea bargain. Mr. Stone has denied wrongdoing and has said he will never betray President Trump. But he has added that he is willing to cooperate.
On Manafort, a closed hearing for which a sanitized transcript was released showed Mueller senior prosecutor Andrew Weissmann is still probing the August 2016 meeting between Manafort, his ex-business partner Rick Gates and Ukraine-born Constantine Kilimnik. Mr. Kilimnik, a former low-ranking translator for Russian military intelligence, was a Manafort translator and office manager in Ukraine for a decade.
Gates has turned state's evidence. The transcript indicates he has made a new allegation against Manafort dealing with sanctions relief that could in some way be tied to a conspiracy.

The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee has summoned acting attorney general Matthew G. Whitaker back to the Hill to explain what the chairman said were inconsistent statements made during an open hearing last week.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday said he wants Whitaker to clarify "unsatisfactory, incomplete" answers in two areas involving special counsel Robert S. Mueller III's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and related matters.

Washington, DC ~ Monday, February 11, 2019
From 2014 to 2016, the violent crime rate went up by nearly seven percent nationwide. Robberies went up. Assaults went up by over 8 percent. Rape went up by nearly 13 percent. Murder went up by a shocking 21 percent.
According to a new study from our Bureau of Justice Statistics, a majority of federal arrests in Fiscal Year 2016 took place in districts along the U.S.-Mexico border-and 36 percent of defendants in federal district courts were illegal aliens.
In the last fiscal year, the Justice Department charged the greatest number of violent crime defendants since we started to track this category more than 25 years ago. We broke the previous record by nearly 15 percent.
We also charged more than 15,000 defendants with federal firearms offenses, which is a record. We broke that record by a margin of 17 percent.
Last year we charged more illegal aliens with illegal entry than ever before. In fact, we charged 85 percent more defendants with illegally entering America than we did in the previous year. And we increased the number of felony re-entry prosecutions by more than 38 percent.
In September, the FBI released final crime statistics for 2017. They showed that the violent crime rate and the homicide rate both went down after two years of increases under the previous administration.
In fiscal year 2018, the Department of Justice charged six percent more drug defendants than in the year before. We prosecuted 36 percent more opioid defendants than the previous four-year average. We increased heroin prosecutions by 15 percent and oxycontin prosecutions by 35 percent. We have broken records for fentanyl prosecutions two years in a row.
According to preliminary data from the CDC, fatal overdoses stopped rising in September 2017-and then decreased by two percent through April 2018.
As our efforts have shown over these last two years, law enforcement works.
These guys have been kicking ass !

Under Clinton At State Dept., Information Flowed To And From The Clinton Foundation
October 5, 2015

Matthew G. Whitaker
While Hillary Clinton served as Secretary of State, the Clinton Foundation had a "direct line" to Clinton's chief of staff Cheryl Mills, who was consulted - outside the normal ethics process – on paid speaking gigs for former President Bill Clinton, including an appearance in North Korea:
The Clinton Foundation had a direct line to Hillary Clinton's former chief of staff at the State Department, seeking her advice on lucrative speaking invitations for former President Bill Clinton outside of the department's normal ethics process, according to emails that surfaced in a federal lawsuit.
Foundation officials sought guidance from Cheryl Mills, a longtime Clinton lawyer and friend, on whether the former president should accept paid speaking gigs in countries that could have presented public relations problems, including a North Korea appearance that the nonprofit said Hillary Clinton's brother was pushing, the emails show.
Information appears to have flowed both ways. Mills forwarded information to a Clinton Foundation staffer for Bill Clinton's trip to Rwanda - information that has since been deemed classified by the State Department:
The information also may have flown both ways. Mills in July forwarded Desai background information for Bill Clinton's trip to Rwanda, which has now been deemed classified by State.
Desai also went to Mills - as well as Sullivan and Fuchs - for questions about Bill addressing other entities with foreign-policy ties, including the National Iranian American Council and to ask whether the Clinton Global Initiative could allow the CEO of a Malaysian oil company to attend, noting that "for years they were shipping oil to Iran."

FACT Files IRS Complaint on Clinton Foundation Payments to Hillary Campaign
October 14, 2015
|
FACT
This week, FACT filed an Internal Revenue Service complaint against the Clinton Foundation for payments it made to Hillary Clinton's unsuccessful 2008 presidential campaign.
As a nonprofit organization, no part of the Clinton Foundation's income can be used to benefit a private individual, primarily because that would be detrimental to the organiztion. In this case, the Clinton Foundation made payments of nearly $350,000 in exchange for what it described as use of an email list. If the payments were in excess of the fair market value, they would constitute campaing donations and clearly have been made for the benefit of Hillary Clinton.
The circumstances surrounding the payments indicate they may have been in excess of fair market value and made for the benefit of Hillary Clinton. The Clinton Foundation made the payments at an opportune time. Well after her 2008 presidential campaign was over, the campaign needed, but was reportedly struggling, to raise funds to pay off millions of remaining debt. Yet, Hillary Clinton had been appointed as Secretary of State and the ethics rules of that position limited her from raising money. The timing of the transactions indicate the purpose was to funnel money to the failed campaign. The close relationship between the Clinton Foundation and Hillary Clinton, also indicate those payments may have been made for the benefit of Hillary Clinton.

A Clinton Foundation Donor Lobbied The Clinton State Department, Appeared To Receive Help

Clinton Foundation donor Richard L. Friedman emailed then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's chief of staff Cheryl Mills asking for help promoting his hotel project in Haiti:
Richard L. Friedman, a Boston hotel developer emailed Cheryl Mills, Clinton's chief of staff, to tout the project on May 17, 2011. "We had a good meeting with Jean-Louis, Marriott executives, [the Overseas Private Investment Corporation], etc regarding building hotels in Haiti-I am pursuing this vigorously and hope to be able to develop 2 to 3 hotels with Marriott as manager," wrote Friedman. "I am talking with Commerce and Export/Import Bank today." Friedman said he recently had a discussion with Hillary Clinton at the White House and asked Mills to forward her a note for him.
Mills forwarded Friedman's email to Clinton and her scheduler:
Mills forwarded Friedman's full email to Clinton and her scheduler, Lona Valmoro, on June 7 with the note "See highlight-resendinG." The copy released by the State Department does not indicate which portion of the email Mills highlighted.
Friedman contributed to the Clinton Foundation and to Clinton's 2008 campaign:
Friedman contributed between $1,000 and $5,000 to the Clinton Foundation and gave $2,300 to Clinton's presidential campaign in 2008, records show.
The Clinton Foundation later claimed to have helped facilitate the groundbreaking of the hotel, and Bill Clinton attended the hotel's opening:
The Port-au-Prince hotel project continued to work closely with the Clinton Foundation during the construction process. The foundation said on its website that it was "pleased to help facilitate the groundbreaking of the new $45 million dollar Marriott/Digicel hotel," which opened last March. Bill Clinton attended the hotel's opening, where he thanked Marriott for "giving all of you the chance to show the real Haiti to the world that will come to this hotel."

Acting Attorney General and Secretary of Homeland Security Submit Joint Report on Impact of Foreign Interference on Election and Political/Campaign Infrastructure in 2018 Elections
Report Concludes No Material Impact of Foreign Interference on Election or Political/Campaign Infrastructure in 2018 Elections
Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker and Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen M. Nielsen yesterday submitted a joint report to President Donald J. Trump evaluating the impact of any foreign interference on election infrastructure or the infrastructure of political organizations, including campaigns and candidates in the 2018-midterm elections.
The classified report was prepared pursuant to section 1(b) of Executive Order 13848, Imposing Certain Sanctions in the Event of Foreign Influence in a United States Election, which the President issued on Sept. 12, 2018.
Throughout the 2018 midterm election cycle, the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security worked closely with federal, state, local, and private sector partners, including all 50 states and more than 1400 local jurisdictions, to support efforts to secure election infrastructure and limit risk posed by foreign interference. Efforts to safeguard the 2020 elections are already underway.
Although the specific conclusions within the joint report must remain classified, the Departments have concluded there is no evidence to date that any identified activities of a foreign government or foreign agent had a material impact on the integrity or security of election infrastructure or political/campaign infrastructure used in the 2018 midterm elections for the United States Congress. This finding was informed by a report prepared by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) pursuant to the same Executive Order and is consistent with what was indicated by the U.S. government after the 2018 elections.
While the report remains classified, its findings will help drive future efforts to protect election and political/campaign infrastructure from foreign interference.

Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker issued the following statement in response to President Trump's second State of the Union Address:
"President Trump's speech presented a hopeful, optimistic vision for this country. An America with a secure southern border would be an America with less crime, less addiction, and better wages for working families. The Department of Justice is working every day to bring us closer to that kind of future by prosecuting criminals, interdicting drugs, and defending the rights of the American people in court. Acting Attorney General and Secretary of Homeland Security Submit Joint Report on Impact of Foreign Interference on Election and Political/Campaign Infrastructure in 2018 Elections
Release Date:
February 5, 2019
Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker and Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen M. Nielsen submitted a joint report to President Donald J. Trump on February 4, 2019 evaluating the impact of any foreign interference on election infrastructure or the infrastructure of political organizations, including campaigns and candidates in the 2018-midterm elections.
The classified report was prepared pursuant to section 1(b) of Executive Order 13848, Imposing Certain Sanctions in the Event of Foreign Influence in a United States Election, which the President issued on September 12, 2018.

Department of Justice Recognizes Human Trafficking Prevention Month and Announces Update on Efforts to Combat this Violent Crime
In December 2018, President Trump proclaimed January 2019 as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, dedicating the month to raising national awareness of the issue of human trafficking and highlighting efforts to combat this violent crime. Over the last year, the Department of Justice fought human trafficking through investigating and prosecuting traffickers, dismantling transnational human trafficking networks, enhancing victim identification and protection of all victims of trafficking, and funding and providing domestic and international anti-trafficking programs.
"Human trafficking is a horrific crime against the human dignity of the victims, and it can have no place in our society," Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker said. "But the Department of Justice is taking action against the traffickers. In fiscal year 2018, the Department of Justice secured over 500 human trafficking convictions - an increase from the previous fiscal year. We also filed a record number of new cases. And in districts where our new Anti-Trafficking Coordination Teams are in place, we have ramped up the number of trafficking prosecutions. We have sent a clear message to traffickers that the Department of Justice will bring the full force of the law against them."

Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker Delivers Remarks at the Heritage Foundation to Commemorate 25th Anniversary of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act
Thank you, Tom for that kind introduction and thank you for your leadership at the Ed Meese Center. Ed Meese is a personal hero of mine and you are helping to carry on his legacy of upholding the Constitution and defending the rule of law.
Thank you also to Jennifer Marshall, John Malcolm, and especially to our panelists. Each one of you brings a unique perspective to today's discussion-but we are all united in our shared values of tolerance and mutual respect.
I want to start by wishing everyone a happy Religious Freedom Day.
Two-hundred thirty-three years ago, the Virginia Senate passed the Statute for Religious Freedom, which remains one of the most eloquent defenses of religious freedom ever written.
It states that "truth is great and will prevail if left to herself...[Truth] has nothing to fear...unless...disarmed of her natural weapons: free argument and debate."
The statute protected Virginians from being compelled to attend or support any religious service or ministry or from being punished because of their beliefs.

Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker Statement Regarding the Administration's Agreement with Mexico
Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker today released the following statement:
"Because of loopholes in our laws, tens of thousands of illegal aliens have been able to enter this country, make meritless asylum claims, and then be released and disappear into the United States. But the Trump administration has been taking steps to close these loopholes and eliminate the incentives to come here illegally. Today the Trump Administration has taken an historic step that will reverse the trends and help restore the rule of law at the border. The Department of Justice will do its part and ensure that we make available the necessary and appropriate resources in light of this historic agreement. Thanks to this and other Trump Administration decisions, the days of our generosity being abused are coming to an end."

Q Research General #5205: Don't Feed Shills After Midnight Edition
A review of hundreds of public comments by acting attorney general Matthew G. Whitaker shows that while he has primarily functioned as a defender of President Trump, he has also criticized the president on numerous occasions, sometimes harshly, while working as a commentator on radio and television.
Whitaker has repeatedly suggested that Trump plays with the truth. He has said Trump should release his tax returns and was "self-serving" in the way he fired FBI Director James B. Comey. Whitaker said during the run-up to the 2016 election that neither Trump nor Hillary Clinton were very good options for the presidency. "I mean, both these candidates are unlikable," he said.

WASHINGTON - President Trump told the White House counsel in the spring that he wanted to order the Justice Department to prosecute two of his political adversaries: his 2016 challenger, Hillary Clinton, and the former F.B.I. director James B. Comey, according to two people familiar with the conversation.
The lawyer, Donald F. McGahn II, rebuffed the president, saying that he had no authority to order a prosecution. Mr. McGahn said that while he could request an investigation, that too could prompt accusations of abuse of power. To underscore his point, Mr. McGahn had White House lawyers write a memo for Mr. Trump warning that if he asked law enforcement to investigate his rivals, he could face a range of consequences, including possible impeachment.
The encounter was one of the most blatant examples yet of how Mr. Trump views the typically independent Justice Department as a tool to be wielded against his political enemies. It took on additional significance in recent weeks when Mr. McGahn left the White House and Mr. Trump appointed a relatively inexperienced political loyalist, Matthew G. Whitaker, as the acting attorney general.
It is unclear whether Mr. Trump read Mr. McGahn's memo or whether he pursued the prosecutions further. But the president has continued to privately discuss the matter, including the possible appointment of a second special counsel to investigate both Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Comey, according to two people who have spoken to Mr. Trump about the issue. He has also repeatedly expressed disappointment in the F.B.I. director, Christopher A. Wray, for failing to more aggressively investigate Mrs. Clinton, calling him weak, one of the people said.
A White House spokesman declined to comment. A spokeswoman for the F.B.I. declined to comment on the president's criticism of Mr. Wray, whom he appointed last year after firing Mr. Comey.
"Mr. McGahn will not comment on his legal advice to the president," said Mr. McGahn's lawyer, William A. Burck. "Like any client, the president is entitled to confidentiality. Mr. McGahn would point out, though, that the president never, to his knowledge, ordered that anyone prosecute Hillary Clinton or James Comey."
t is not clear which accusations Mr. Trump wanted prosecutors to pursue. He has accused Mr. Comey, without evidence, of illegally having classified information shared with The New York Times in a memo that Mr. Comey wrote about his interactions with the president. The document contained no classified information.
Mr. Trump's lawyers also privately asked the Justice Department last year to investigate Mr. Comey for mishandling sensitive government information and for his role in the Clinton email investigation. Law enforcement officials declined their requests. Mr. Comey is a witness against the president in the investigation by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III.

Trump Wanted to Order Justice Dept. to Prosecute Comey and Clinton
President Trump stoked his enmity for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 race and since taking office has publicly and privately revisited the idea of prosecuting her.
By Michael S. Schmidt and Maggie Haberman Nov. 20, 2018
……….
Mr. Trump has grown frustrated with Mr. Wray for what the president sees as his failure to investigate Mrs. Clinton's role in the Obama administration's decision to allow the Russian nuclear agency to buy a uranium mining company. Conservatives have long pointed to donations to the Clinton family foundation by people associated with the company, Uranium One, as proof of corruption. But no evidence has emerged that those donations influenced the American approval of the deal.
In his conversation with Mr. McGahn, the president asked what stopped him from ordering the Justice Department to investigate Mr. Comey and Mrs. Clinton, the two people familiar with the conversation said. He did have that authority, Mr. McGahn said, but warned that making such a request could create a series of problems.
Mr. McGahn promised to write a memo outlining the president's authorities. In the days that followed, lawyers in the White House Counsel's Office wrote a several-page document in which they strongly cautioned Mr. Trump against asking the Justice Department to investigate anyone.
The lawyers laid out a series of consequences. For starters, Justice Department lawyers could refuse to follow Mr. Trump's orders even before an investigation began, setting off another political firestorm.
If charges were brought, judges could dismiss them. And Congress, they added, could investigate the president's role in a prosecution and begin impeachment proceedings.
Ultimately, the lawyers warned, Mr. Trump could be voted out of office if voters believed he had abused his power.

Q Research General #4937: ebake
Adam B. Schiff, a Democrat, represents California's 28th District in the House, where he is the ranking minority member of the Intelligence Committee.
Only hours after the magnitude of Democratic gains in the House became apparent, President Trump ousted Attorney General Jeff Sessions, putting special counsel Robert S. Mueller III's investigation in imminent danger. This represents the president's most direct challenge yet to the rule of law.
Instead of elevating Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, the most senior Senate-confirmed officer at the Justice Department, Trump circumvented normal succession by handpicking Matthew G. Whitaker, Sessions's chief of staff and a person who has publicly criticized the special counsel's investigation and has troubling conflicts of interest.
The president and Whitaker should heed this warning: The new Democratic majority will protect the special counsel and the integrity of the Justice Department. Should Whitaker fail to recuse himself - all indications are that he plans not to - and seek to obstruct the investigation, serve as a back channel to the president or his legal team or interfere in the investigations in any way, he will be called to answer. His actions will be exposed.
It is no mystery why the president chose Whitaker, an obscure and ill-qualified official never confirmed by the Senate, which many legal experts believe makes the appointment itself unconstitutional. Trump chose him to protect himself, his family and his close associates from the special counsel's investigation and other investigations within the Justice Department.
Though I had many profound disagreements with Sessions, he was correct to follow the rules meant to ensure public confidence in the fair administration of justice and recuse himself, even though the president viewed Sessions's compliance as a singular act of disloyalty. We must demand the highest ethical standards of everyone at the Justice Department, including the attorney general.

October 10
President Trump talked recently with Jeff Sessions's own chief of staff about replacing Sessions as attorney general, according to people briefed on the conversation, signaling that the president remains keenly interested in ousting his top law enforcement official.
The conversation between Trump and Matthew G. Whitaker was somewhat nebulous, the people said. It was not clear, for example, whether Whitaker would take over on an interim basis or be nominated in a more permanent capacity, or how definitive the president's intentions were.
On a long list of indignities that Sessions has endured from his boss, Trump's discussing replacing him with his own top aide stands out. Trump has wanted to fire Sessions ever since he recused himself from what is now the special counsel's investigation into whether Russia coordinated with the Trump campaign to influence the 2016 election. He has berated his attorney general publicly and privately, and recently told Hill.TV, "I don't have an attorney general."
Sessions, meanwhile, has dutifully sought to implement Trump's agenda, even as it has become clear his relationship with the president is damaged beyond repair.
['We just need to keep pushing on': Why Trump's attacks won't make Jeff Sessions quit]
In the Trump administration, top officials at the Justice Department have learned to work as if every day could be their last. That has never been more true than in recent weeks. Late last month, the New York Times reported that memos kept by former acting FBI director Andrew McCabe alleged that Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein had more than a year ago suggested wearing a wire to monitor the president and using a constitutional amendment to oust him.
In the wake of that reporting, Rosenstein offered to resign and traveled to the White House expecting to be fired. The administration lined up Whitaker to replace Rosenstein in an acting capacity, while Noel Francisco, the solicitor general, would take over supervision of the special counsel probe. The conversation about Whitaker taking over as attorney general occurred around that time, according to people briefed on the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.
Even the plan for Whitaker to fill the Justice Department's No. 2 post was scrapped, though, and Trump has said in recent days he does not want to remove Rosenstein. Rosenstein has generically disputed the Times report, and his defenders have said his comments about the wire were not meant to be taken seriously.
[Rod Rosenstein's departure was imminent. Now he is likely to survive until after the midterms, officials say]
A Justice Department spokesman declined to comment.
White House officials now say that they expect both Rosenstein and Sessions to stay in their jobs until the midterm elections, as any move against them before then could be damaging to Republicans in close races. After that, though, the Justice Department expects the two men at the top will be replaced in short order. It is unclear whether Whitaker will be a part of those plans.

Jeff Sessions is gone, but Jim Acosta isn't going anywhere.
The Acosta exile, which will be difficult for the White House to legally enforce, accomplished at least two things for the president. Q Research General #4841: Eat Shit, Shills Edition
Officials Change Asylum Rules to Ensure Quick Deportation of Economic Migrants
President Donald Trump is using a fast-track regulation and a presidential announcement to modify the asylum rules which prevent the quick deportation of illegal border-crossers.
"Consistent with our immigration laws, the President has the broad authority to suspend or restrict the entry of aliens into the United States if he determines it to be in the national interest to do so," said a Thursday statement by Secretary Kirstjen M. Nielsen, Acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker. They continued: Today's rule applies this important principle to aliens who violate such a suspension or restriction regarding the southern border imposed by the President by invoking an express authority provided by Congress to restrict eligibility for asylum. Our asylum system is overwhelmed with too many meritless asylum claims from aliens who place a tremendous burden on our resources, preventing us from being able to expeditiously grant asylum to those who truly deserve it. Today, we are using the authority granted to us by Congress to bar aliens who violate a Presidential suspension of entry or other restriction from asylum eligibility."
The policy covers the migrants in the three caravans that are moving northwards, and all other migrants who cross the border illegally. Currently, most of the economic migrants who cross the border are allowed to file for asylum, which ensures their release into the U.S. job market for at least two years, pending a judge's approval or rejection of their asylum claims.
''
The plan has two steps.
First, the president uses his legal authority to bar the entry of some groups of travelers into the United States. The likely group is migrants seeking jobs in the United States. This declaration provides border officials with additional legal authority for the second step. Second, border officials will detain illegal migrants who cross the border between the official "ports of entry." The caught migrants would be denied the right to file for full asylum even they claimed a "credible fear" of being sent home. These illegal migrants would be allowed a "withholding of removal" status which allows them to stay in the United States but does not put them on a track to green cards and citizenship. But officials would also be allowed to deport the illegal migrants under the fast-track "expedited removal" laws, so ensuring they are not released into the U.S. job market. Economic migrants who use the ports of entry would still be allowed to file for full asylum, with the possibility of catch-and-release if they pass their credible-fear tests. Many migrants apply for asylum, in part, because the application allows them to legally get U.S. jobs until a court denies their asylum request, usually after a delay of two years. According to an agency statement: As of November 2, 2018, there were approximately 203,569 total [asylum] cases pending in the immigration courts that originated with a credible-fear referral-or 26% of the total backlog of 791,821 removal cases. Of that number, 136,554 involved nationals of Northern Triangle countries.
Senior administration officials said the plan does not deal with economic migrants who bring children to trigger the Flores catch-and-release loophole. "We do not expect any one action to stall all of the myriad legions of flaws in our nation's current immigration system," an official told reporters. "We are looking at a number of possibilities and a number of [additional] legal options," the official said. But officials have drafted a regulation that would replace the Flores catch-and-release rule. The regulation would allow officials to keep migrants with children in tent cities, so ending the catch-and-release policies if Congress fully funds the tent cities. If catch-and-release is ended, the grants lose their ability to get jobs in the United States which they need to repay their smuggling debts.

There's still time for the Due Process of law to kick into gear before any seats in Congress actually change; not only do Repubs have a greater majority than before in the Senate, but there's a lot of legal actions that stand a good chance of challenging the election & perhaps putting a (externally-generated by We the People) grid-lock in the new House of Reps. Maybe even enough legal challenges to throw out illegal votes & disqualify a lot of Dems; The House doesn't belong to the Dems yet!

Conservative watchdog group accuses Democrats of illegally coordinating through voter data firm
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2015/02/20/conservative-watchdog-group-accuses-democrats-of-illegally-coordinating-through-voter-data-firm/?utm_term=.34be0b5d0f0e
A new conservative watchdog group filed a complaint this week with the Federal Election Commission against the private voter data firm Catalist and dozens of Democratic party and candidate committees, accusing them of operating "an illegal coordination scheme" that has allowed Democrats to instantly sync their voter information with that of independent groups.
The Washington-based Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust also alleged that Catalist – whose president is Harold Ickes, a longtime Democratic strategist and ally of Bill and Hillary Clinton – provides its data to candidates and parties below market rate, effectively making illegal in-kind contributions.
FACT's executive director, Matthew G. Whitaker, said Catalist and its Democratic allies "have operated outside of the law" and called on the FEC to investigate.
>>Matthew G. Whitaker, said Catalist and its Democratic allies "have operated outside of the law" and called on the FEC to investigate.
"I expect that they will take this seriously and get some answers," said Whitaker, a former U.S. attorney in Iowa who ran for the U.S. Senate there last year as a Republican.
Amy Weiss, a spokeswoman for Catalist, said in a statement that the complaint was "a politically-motivated filing without merit."
It is common for parties and outside organizations to exchange voter lists. But Democratic party committees and allied interest groups do not conduct such exchanges close to an election, according to people familiar with the transactions. That's because conveying non-public material related to a campaign's activities through a common vendor could violate coordination rules.
In its complaint, FACT challenged that notion, citing passages in Sasha Issenberg's 2012 book "The Victory Lab" that described how Catalist enabled "seamless links" between President Obama's 2008 campaign and activist groups on the left.

A New Attorney General for a New Phase of the Spygate Scandal
Whitaker appointment gives Trump an attorney general without recusal issues
Just one day after the midterm elections, President Donald Trump asked Attorney General Jeff Sessions for his resignation and received it. Trump then elevated Matthew G. Whitaker, Sessions's chief of staff, to the role of acting attorney general.
This move, on Nov. 7, ended almost two years of a contentious tenure in which the president and his attorney general were often at odds-at least publicly-on how to deal with matters relating to the Justice Department (DOJ).
The biggest problem that constantly caused drama during Sessions's two years at the helm of the DOJ was having to recuse himself from overseeing any of the 2016 election-related investigations. As a key member of Trump's campaign team, who was repeatedly accused by top Democrats of being some sort of Russian agent, Sessions had to recuse himself. A person can't be in charge of investigating a campaign they had a role in-the conflicts of interest are apparent.
For that reason, Sessions kept his distance and all of these investigations were handled by his top lieutenant, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. As I've explained in previous columns, such as "Rod Rosenstein: The Man With The Most Thankless Job In America" and "The Circus of Chaos And Confusion Around Rod Rosenstein Is Deliberate," not only is Rosenstein in charge of the Robert Mueller special counsel investigation, he's also in charge of leading extensive leak investigations, some of which extend right into the U.S. Congress itself.
DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz dug deeply into the Crossfire Hurricane plot and exposed all the major players. He's now preparing the report on his team's year-long investigation into the FBI's abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. Meanwhile, Rosenstein has had to keep Congress at bay since material evidence from ongoing investigations can't be made public until the investigations have concluded-no matter how loudly members of Congress complain about this.
And then there's also the issue of leaks of classified information that came from Congress. Because Rosenstein is in charge of the leak hunt, that means it's extremely likely he's leading investigations that are targeting key members of the selfsame committees that are loudly yelling for him to hand over more classified documents.
So this is where things have stood for almost two years, with Sessions off doing other things-such as dealing with human- and sex-trafficking networks, illegal immigration, the opioid epidemic, and more-while Rosenstein, Horowitz, and U.S. Attorney John Huber quietly investigated the Spygate scandal and built their cases.
It appears the first phase, which just ended, was comprised of two years of slowly exposing each of the Spygate plotters, pulling their fangs and removing them from power, then building cases against them. This could happen while Sessions stayed where he was.
But the next phase won't work with a recused attorney general. The prosecution phase needs a hands-on overseer who doesn't have any of the numerous conflicts of interest that hampered Sessions from the day of his swearing-in. There can't be any conflicts of interest that the defense lawyers and the media can use to attack the state's case. Another year of Sessions ducking out of the room while deferring all questions about these things to Rosenstein wasn't going to cut it.
Trump and Sessions both understood that, and that's why Whitaker was carefully moved into place in advance as Sessions's chief of staff in September last year. He garnered much interest when he wrote a July 2016 op-ed for USA Today, in which he stated he'd be willing to indict Hillary Clinton for the massive exposure of classified information she caused with her private server. That means they've been preparing for this move for at least a year.
Spygate is a massive scandal that dwarfs Watergate. Top intelligence and law enforcement officials conspired together to hide what Clinton did and what she caused through that private server she insisted upon usinG. Because they compromised themselves to protect her so that she could run for president, it became extremely important to these officials that she win the 2016 election. It wasn't just about protecting Clinton. It was also about protecting themselves.
For the Spygate plotters, this is personal. To take them on in the next phase of this fight, Trump wanted an attorney general without recusal issues and that's exactly what Whitaker gives him.

In Matthew Whitaker, Trump has a loyalist at the helm of the Justice Department
Matthew G. Whitaker, President Trump's pick to temporarily helm the Justice Department, provides Trump with the leader he has long sought at the law enforcement agency: a political loyalist critical of the special counsel probe.
Before Whitaker joined the Trump administration as a political appointee, the Republican lawyer and legal commentator complained that special counsel Robert S. Mueller III's investigation of Russian interference in the election and of the Trump campaign was dangerously close to overreachinG. He suggested ways it could be stopped or curtailed and urged his followers on Twitter to read a story that dubbed the investigators "Mueller's lynch mob."
Now - at least on an interim basis - Whitaker will assume authority over that investigation, an arrangement that has triggered calls by Democrats for him to recuse himself.
In a statement Wednesday, Whitaker said he was "committed to leading a fair Department with the highest ethical standards, that upholds the rule of law, and seeks justice for all Americans."
Before joining the Justice Department in 2017 as Sessions's chief of staff, Whitaker served as U.S. attorney in Iowa, made an unsuccessful U.S. Senate bid and ran a conservative watchdog group. For a time, he served on the advisory board of an invention-promotion company that was shut down earlier this year amid a Federal Trade Commission investigation, records show.
Fellow conservatives cast Whitaker's political background as an asset. "There's so many things that fall within the Justice Department's responsibility that lie at the intersection of law and politics that you really need to be knowledgeable and able to see the issue in both political and legal terms," said former deputy attorney general George J. Terwilliger III.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Whitaker_(lawyer)
Matthew G. Whitaker (born October 29, 1969) is an American lawyer and the acting Attorney General of the United States. He was appointed by Donald Trump to be the Acting Attorney General on November 7, 2018 following the departure of Attorney General Jeff Sessions from the Trump Administration.[1]
Whitaker previously served in the Justice Department during the George W. Bush administration as the Chief of Staff to the Attorney General and as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa. Whitaker also ran as a Republican candidate in the June 3, 2014, primary election for United States Senate election in Iowa.

Q Research General #4812: Elf Eviction Edition
Matthew G. Whitaker, the recently appointed acting Attorney General has replaced AG Jeff Sessions, who had just resigned per the President's request. His White House counterpart, Gen. John F. Kelly has privately described him as the West Wing's "eyes and ears" in a department the president has long considered at war with him. Freshly sworn in as acting Attorney General, Whitaker has served as what one White House aide called a "balm" on the relationship between the President and the Justice Department. He has frequently visited the Oval Office and is said to have an easy chemistry with President Trump. Whitaker's a confident former college football player and United States attorney who has been considered before when Deputy AG Rosenstein's future was uncertain at the Department of Justice. Mr. Whitaker would not have assumed control of the Mueller inquiry if he had replaced Mr. Rosenstein. However, in replacing AG Sessions, it seems that he will obviously take control of the special counsel. Administration officials had also considered Mr. Whitaker as a possible successor to Donald F. McGahn II, the White House counsel who plans to leave in the fall.

Since Matthew G. Whitaker has no involvement with the 2016 (to my knowledge), it looks like good ol' Rod Rosenstein won't be needed to oversee the Mueller investigation.

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions Resigns at Trump's Request
US Attorney General Jeff Sessions resigned from his post atop the US Justice Department Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said Wednesday.
"At your request, I am submitting my resignation," Sessions said in a letter addressed to Trump.
"I have been honored to serve as Attorney General and have worked to implement the law enforcement agenda based on the rule of law that formed a central part of your campaign for Presidency," Sessions wrote, adding, "[T]hank you for the opportunity, Mr. President."
Trump tweeted that the White House was "pleased to announce that Matthew G. Whitaker, Chief of Staff to Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the Department of Justice, will become our new Acting Attorney General of the United States."
"He will serve our country well," the president noted.
The development follows a historic round of midterm elections in which Democrats regained the majority in the House of Representatives, while the Republicans expanded their majority in the Senate. Trump has blasted Sessions during the former Alabama senator's tenure as attorney general for recusing himself from the investigation into alleged collusion between Trump and Russia, fueling speculation that Sessions' time in the cabinet was limited.

NEW AG Whitaker IS DESCRIBED AS TRUMP LOYALISTS AND KELLY'S GUY IN PREVIOUS WRITE UP
Matthew G. Whitaker, the chief of staff to Attorney General Jeff Sessions, would become the acting No. 2 official at the Justice Department, his White House counterpart, John F. Kelly, told him over the phone on Saturday morning, according to two people briefed on the call. To the White House, he was an obvious choice: a confident former college football player and United States attorney whom Mr. Kelly has privately described as the West Wing's "eyes and ears" in a department the president has long considered at war with him.
By late Monday morning, the plan was moot. Mr. Rosenstein was no longer committed to resigning, at least without assurances he was doing so on amicable terms with the president. Mr. Trump told reporters on Wednesday that he was open to keeping Mr. Rosenstein in place, and two White House officials said they believed he was likely to remain in his job at least through the midterm elections.
But the arrangements to promote Mr. Whitaker show how White House aides seized on the days of uncertainty about Mr. Rosenstein to try to place a trusted loyalist at the top of a department whose traditional independence has long frustrated the president.

Trump discussed swapping out Jeff Sessions with Sessions' chief of staff
October 10 at 6:27 PM
He has berated his attorney general publicly and privately, and recently told Hill.TV, "I don't have an attorney general."

.. On October 15, 2019, Berman announced the indictment of Halkbank, the largest state-owned bank in Turkey, for a multi-billion-dollar scheme to evade U.S. sanctions on Iran. In announcing the charges, Berman said: "The bank's audacious conduct was supported and protected by high-ranking Turkish government officials, some of whom received millions of dollars in bribes to promote and protect the scheme."[32][31][30] Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan lobbied President Trump to quash Berman's investigation, as Erdogan's family and allies could be implicated by it.[71] In June 2019, Attorney General Barr pressed Berman to allow Halkbank to pay a fine and acknowledge some wrongdoing, and to end criminal investigations into senior Halkbank officials involved in the sanctions evasion.[71] Previously, acting Attorney General Matthew G. Whitaker rejected Berman's request to file criminal charges against the bank. Whitaker did so shortly after Erdogan had pressed Trump to quash the investigation.[71]
On November 19, 2019, Berman charged guards Michael Thomas and Tova Noel with creating false records, and with conspiracy, after video footage obtained by prosecutors revealed that Jeffrey Epstein had, against regulation, been in his cell unchecked for eight hours before being found dead on August 10, 2019.[72]
On January 27, 2020, at a press conference sponsored by Safe Horizon at the site of Jeffrey Epstein's New York mansion, Berman was asked whether Prince Andrew was cooperating with the SDNY's investigation into Epstein's coconspirators. Berman responded that to date Andrew had provided "zero cooperation".[73][74] On March 9, 2020, Berman said that Andrew had "completely shut the door" on voluntary cooperation and that his office was considering its options.[75][76]
On February 11, 2020, Berman announced charges against Lawrence Ray, who sex trafficked and extorted his daughter's college roommates. Berman said: "For so many of us, and our children, college is supposed to be a time of self-discovery and newfound independence, a chance to explore and learn, all within the safety of a college community. But as alleged, the defendant exploited that vulnerable time in his victims' lives".[77][78]
On February 25, 2020, it was reported and confirmed by an SDNY spokesperson that a search warrant was executed at the Manhattan offices of Peter Nyg?rd amid a sex-trafficking investigation.[79]
On March 9, 2020, Berman announced the indictment of 27 people, including Jason Servis and Jorge Navarro, involved in doping racehorses across the country. Berman said, "The defendants who we charge today engaged in this conduct not for love of the sport and certainly not out of concern for the horses, but for money."[80]
On March 26, 2020, Berman announced the indictment of Venezuelan President Nicol?s Maduro and other Venezuelan officials on charges of conspiracy to commit narco-terrorism and to import hundreds of tons of cocaine into the United States and related weapons offenses. Berman said: "As alleged, Maduro and the other defendants expressly intended to flood the United States with cocaine in order to undermine the health and well being of our nation. Maduro very deliberately deployed cocaine as a weapon."[81]
On April 30, 2020, Berman announced drug trafficking and weapons charges against Juan Carlos "The Tiger" Bonillo, the former head of the Honduras National Police. Berman stated that the indictment alleged that Bonillo conspired with convicted former Honduran congressman Tony Hern?ndez and his brother, the president of Honduras.[82]
On April 30, 2020, Berman announced a deferred prosecution agreement against Bank Hapoalim, Israel's largest bank, for conspiring to hide assets and income in offshore accounts. Bank Hapoalim agreed to pay nearly $875 million. Berman said, "Israel's largest bank, Bank Hapoalim, and its Swiss subsidiary have admitted not only failing to prevent but actively assisting U.S. customers to set up secret accounts, to shelter assets and income, and to evade taxes. The combined payment approaching $1 billion reflects the magnitude of the tax evasion by the Bank's U.S. customers, the size of the fees the Bank collected to provide this illegal service, and the gravity of the illegal conduct."[83] ..

- Question: If [AS] has seen 'evidence' of collusion and/or POTUS/RUSSIA illegal activities, as he's stated in the past many times across all D-arm media networks, why then is there a need to open 'new' investigations? What about the so-called 'evidence' already seen? How is [AS] making open statements re: MUELLER not investigating POTUS/Deutsche Bank thorough enough if the MUELLER investigation itself is CLASSIFIED? How does [AS] know what MUELLER has/hasn't investigated? FAKE NEWS DESIGNED TO KEEP THE FAKE NARRATIVE IN PLAY [COVER]. You are witnessing the greatest 'DISINFORMATION' campaign to ever be pushed by a political party. Ask yourself, why? FEAR of what? The message must be direct. The WAR is very real.
Answer: SEE: http://fortune.com/2019/02/11/schiff-trump-deutsche-bank/ CONVERSELY, SEE: Department of Justice Office of Public Affairs FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tuesday, February 5, 2019 Acting Attorney General and Secretary of Homeland Security Submit Joint Report on Impact of Foreign Interference on Election and Political/Campaign Infrastructure in 2018 Elections Report Concludes No Material Impact of Foreign Interference on Election or Political/Campaign Infrastructure in 2018 Elections Acting Attorney General Matthew G. While the report remains classified, its findings will help drive future efforts to protect election and political/campaign infrastructure from foreign interference. https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/acting-attorney-general-and-secretary-homeland-security-submit-joint-report-impact-foreign ARCHIVE: http://archive.fo/CbryG
