Police investigating cocaine sex scandal allegations implicating Labor NT members
A Northern Territory Labor MP has made an impassioned speech to parliament in the wake of a police investigation into an alleged cocaine sex scandal.
Labor members have become impacted by in an investigation by Northern Territory specialist police officers into a cocaine sex scandal.
Detectives from the NT Police's Special References Unit have been investigating the claims since the end of last year, according to NT News.
NT Police told news.com.au they would not be commenting on the report.
Overnight, member for Blain, Mark Turner, revealed he was one of the Labor members impacted by the allegations but strongly denied his involvement in any illegal activities.
In a late-night speech to parliament, Mr Turner said he had never planned to make a comment on the "untrue rumours and innuendo" but felt he had no other choice due to the recent actions of Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro.
On Wednesday, Ms Finocchiaro called on Chief Minister Michael Gunner to "show leadership" and commence a formal investigation into the allegations impacting members of the Territory Labor Party.
Mr Turner claimed Ms Finocchiaro used her "privileged position" to accelerate the allegations and "use them to impugn the character of my colleagues".
"I will not allow that to continue any longer," he said.
Mr Turner said any suggestion he participated in illegal activity is "categorically false" but did confirmed he had a "friendship" with the woman at the centre of the scandal.
"I do not recall the details of every conversation. During this friendship we exchanged general conversation, banter, jokes, and some intimate conversation," he said.
"I do not condone illegal activity, and I do not participate in it. I accept that there were aspects of our friendship in the past that were not appropriate, because they were too intimate.
"It was not illegal. It was consensual. It was respectful. But not appropriate."
Mr Turner, a married father-of-five, said he was "deeply embarrassed" by the situation.

The politician was Mark Turner - The Rep from Dayton whose daughters entered Tumbleweed across the street from the Dayton Bar not Walmart.
But if the El Paso Shooter's Dad worked at Tumblweed and you've got some sauce - That is a serious connection.

NT chief minister Natasha Fyles resigns following conflict of interest claims
PAIGE TAYLOR, LIAM MENDES and MATT CUNNINGHAM - DECEMBER 19, 2023
1/2
The chief minister of the Northern Territory, Natasha Fyles, has resigned over her shares in a manganese mine that as health minister she declined to investigate.
The Labor leader announced she was stepping down shortly after 3pm AEDT. It comes after online masthead NT Independent reported that she owned undisclosed shares in South32, a company which owns a manganese mine off the territory's northeast coast.
Ms Fyles had been in the territory government's top job for less than 18 months.
At a press conference in Darwin, Ms Fyles' voice broke and became emotional as she told reporters of her decision. She said that not declaring the small shareholding in South32 was an error and not intentional. She intends to remain in parliament.
She said she had shares in BHP since she was a child and these were a gift from her late grandmother. As the result of a demerger in 2015, Ms Fyles was subsequently issued with a small number of shares in South32 which owns the manganese mine on Groote Eylandt.
"I can assure Territorians that no decision I have made was affected by that small shareholding," she said.
"It is clear that I have failed to meet the standards that are set for us and the standards that I set for myself."
Ms Fyles had previously listed 754 shares she owns listed in her name in 2015, and are worth just under $2500.
Community members have for years called for government testing on the mine's health impact.
Earlier this year, Ms Fyles said the government would not investigate air pollution levels or health impacts following those requests, saying there was adequate monitoring already in place.
Ms Fyles is also the territory's health minister.
Ms Fyles did not answer questions by The Australian at Sydney airport on Tuesday morning as to whether she was considering stepping down from her position, which she has held since May 2022, after the NT Independent reported she holds 754 shares in South 32.
Those shares were allegedly not disclosed publicly when Ms Fyles refused to investigate the suspected health impacts on Indigenous Australians of the Gemco mine on Groote Eylandt, which is run by South 32, earlier this year while she was health minister.
Escorted by a Qantas staff member out of the Qantas Chairman's Lounge in Sydney on Tuesday and onto her Darwin-bound aircraft, Ms Fyles remained silent, refusing to answer questions as to why her shares were not declared and whether she would be stepping down.
Sky News reported preparations for Ms Fyles' resignation this week were already being made, with Deputy Chief Minister Nicole Manison and Infrastructure Minister Joel Bowden touted as possible replacements.
On Tuesday morning former Labor member and now independent Mark Turner wrote a letter to NT ICAC commissioner Michael Riches, calling for an independent review into Ms Fyles and her cabinet's refusal address a previous allegation of corrupt conduct, in which she had lobbied for the development of the Middle Arm industrial precinct while holding shares in gas company Woodside.
"The moment it seems journalists are doing the work of the ICAC and the parliament, which leaves us in a very precarious position in the Northern Territory," Mr Turner told The Australian on Tuesday morning.

"Who controls southern Africa's mineral wealth?" - Part 1dated December 18, 1979, at https://larouchepub.com/eiw/public/1979/eirv06n49-19791218/eirv06n49-19791218_052-who_controls_southern_africas_mi.pdf
The Anglo American Corporation
The Anglo American Corporation is the flagship holding concern for a vast group of companies, interlocking in ownership and directors, which dominates the mining of uranium, gold, diamonds, copper, coal and other minerals in southern Africa. The chairman of the group is Harry Frederick Oppenheimer. The subcompanies include De Beers Consolidated Mines, Charter Consolidated and Engelhard Minerals. Rio Tinto-Zinc, Lonrho and Union Miniere are related to the Anglo American group through political alliances for shared policies. Ultimately, the same families control all the companies, with the names Cecil and Hapsburg most powerful.
The chairman of Anglo American's Diamond Services division is Julian Ogilvie Thompson, married to a daughter of the late Viscount Hampden; the chairman of the Gold and Uranium division is Dennis Etheredge, O.B.E., who worked for South African military intelligence during World War II under Jan Smuts, member of the British Round Table. The Executive Director of Anglo American after the death of founder Sir Ernest Oppenheimer, was William Marshall Clark, a Knight of the Military and Hospitaler Order of St. John of Jerusalem (Order of Malta). The first head of Anglo American's Diamond Security Organization-a private army-was Percy Sillitoe, former director of British Military intelligence-MI-5. Among other notables on the payroll of the Diamond Security Organization is Nathaniel Mbumba, leader of recent "Marxist" invasions of Shaba province in Zaire.
The Anglo American group is deeply implicated in international drug traffic. Its diamond (De Beers) and gold production plays a central role-through non-contractual sales-in laundering the "dirty money" from the dope trade. Accordingly, Oppenheimer has been a board member of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, a key bank for drug-money laundering. Anglo AmeriCan board member Sidney Spiro is now on the same bank's international advisory board. Another subcompany of Anglo American is South African Eagle, an offshoot of Eagle Star Insurance of London, which owns and operates the drug-running empire associated with the Canadian Bronfman family.
Completing the circle, Oppenheimer's Anglo American group passed on executives to the Schlesinger Insurance group, a leading corporate front for the Permindex Organization, an international assassination bureau created under the supervision of Knight of St. John Mortimer Louis Bloomfield, attorney for the Bronfman family. Permindex murdered John Fitzgerald Kennedy. It attempted to murder Charles de Gaulle. Anglo American bought out Schlesinger Insurance in 1975.
Rio Tinto-Zinc
Rio Tinto's major operations are in iron ore and copper with an important share of uranium. Among the board members is Lord Carrington, a protege of the Cecil family who is now British Foreign Secretary. Rio Tinto's chairman is Sir Mark Turner, a member of the board (former deputy chairman) of the banking firm, Kleinwort, Benson, Lonsdale, Ltd., another of whose directors is Baron Rockley (Cecil). A colleague of Turner's in World War II British economic warfare and rawmaterials control operations was the Marquess of Exeter (Cecil).
The Cecils are among the most powerful of Britain's families-with factional ties to the Hapsburgs and Jesuit intelligence operations dating from the 16th century. Titled the Marquesses of Salisbury, first sons of the family have held office as Prime Minister, leader of the House of Lords, Foreign Secretary, Colonial Secretary and Secretary for Commonwealth Relations in the past 100 years. The capital of Rhodesia, Salisbury, takes its name from the Cecils.
