Terry Anderson, AP reporter abducted in Lebanon and held captive for years, has died at 76 (3/3)
Terry Alan Anderson was born Oct. 27, 1947. He spent his early childhood years in the small Lake Erie town of Vermilion, Ohio, where his father was a police officer.
After graduating from high school, he turned down a scholarship to the University of Michigan in favor of enlisting in the Marines, where he rose to the rank of staff sergeant while seeing combat during the Vietnam War.
After returning home, he enrolled at Iowa State University where he graduated with a double major in journalism and political science and soon after went to work for the AP. He reported from Kentucky, Japan and South Africa before arriving in Lebanon in 1982, just as the country was descending into chaos.
"Actually, it was the most fascinating job I've ever had in my life," he told The Review. "It was intense. War's going on - it was very dangerous in Beirut. Vicious civil war, and I lasted about three years before I got kidnapped."
Anderson was married and divorced three times. In addition to his daughter, he is survived by another daughter, Gabrielle Anderson, from his first marriage; a sister, Judy Anderson; and a brother, Jack Anderson.
"Though my father's life was marked by extreme suffering during his time as a hostage in captivity, he found a quiet, comfortable peace in recent years. I know he would choose to be remembered not by his very worst experience, but through his humanitarian work with the Vietnam Children's Fund, the Committee to Protect Journalists, homeless veterans and many other incredible causes," Sulome Anderson said in a statement Sunday.
Memorial arrangements were pending, she said.

Alabama Democrat Who Made 'Kill'em Now Or Kill'em Later' Remark On Abortion Indicted On Federal Charges: Report
State Rep. John Rogers (D) - who previously gained national attention over controversial remarks that he made about abortion - has been indicted on federal obstruction of justice, according to prosecutors.
Rogers was indicted by a federal grand jury on two counts of obstruction of justice in case that centers around an alleged scheme to defraud the Jefferson County Community Service Fund.
"A 25-count superseding indictment filed this week in United States District Court charges Varrie Johnson Kindall, 58, of Chelsea, with one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, 11 counts of wire fraud, 3 counts of mail fraud, 1 count of money laundering, and 4 tax related charges," said a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
"Additionally, the superseding indictment charges John Rogers, 82, and Kindall with 2 counts of obstruction of justice," the statement continued. "These charges arise from an investigation of wrongdoing in connection with the Jefferson County Community Service Fund. In June, former Representative Fred L. Plump, Jr. pleaded guilty to conspiring with Kindall and resigned from the Alabama House of Representatives."
Rogers made highly controversial remarks on the floor of the Alabama House of Representatives back in 2019 about abortion, saying: "Some kids are unwanted, so you kill them now or you kill them later."
Rogers remarks came as the Republican-controlled chamber voted overwhelmingly - 74-3 - to outlaw nearly all abortion in the state.
"Some kids are unwanted, so you kill them now or you kill them later," Rogers said. "You bring them in the world unwanted, unloved, you send them to the electric chair. So, you kill them now or you kill them later."
"Some parents can't handle a child with problems," Rogers continued, according to a local media report. "It could be retarded. It might have no arms and no legs."

Although much of Obama's success can be attributed to his vision, personal skills, and leadership appeal, no small amount of credit goes to a powerful circle of black business leaders in Chicago. In addition to Logan, they include Valerie Jarrett, CEO of real estate management firm The Habitat Co. and now co-head of Obama's transition team; Jim Reynolds, CEO of investment bank Loop Capital Markets; John Rogers, CEO of mutual fund icon Ariel Investments; Quintin Primo III, CEO of commercial real estate development company Capri Capital Partners; and Frank Clark, CEO of electrical utility Commonwealth Edison.

Black Business Leaders Urge Corporations to Fight Election Integrity Efforts: 'There Is No Middle Ground Here'
A group of prominent black business leaders is urging corporations to take a stand against election integrity efforts pursued in several states, contending there is "no middle ground."
Seventy-two black business leaders, led by former American Express chief executive Kenneth Chenault and Merck chief executive Kenneth Frazier, signed a letter urging corporate America to fight against state election laws, such as Georgia's recently passed S.B. 202, which the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has described as an "illegal voter suppression law."
"There is no middle ground here," Chenault (pictured) said, according to the New York Times. "You either are for more people voting, or you want to suppress the vote."
"This impacts all Americans, but we also need to acknowledge the history of voting rights for African-Americans," Chenault continued. "And as African-American executives in corporate America, what we were saying is we want corporate America to understand that, and we want them to work with us."
According to the outlet, the executives did not single out companies but instead broadly urged corporate America to "use their clout, money, and lobbyists to sway the debate with lawmakers."
Frazier also expressed disappointment over the lack of pushback prior to the Georgia bill becoming law.
"There seems to be no one speaking out," he said. "We thought if we spoke up, it might lead to a situation where others felt the responsibility to speak up."
"The Georgia legislature was the first one," he told the outlet. "If corporate America doesn't stand up, we'll get these laws passed in many places in this country."
Per the Times, signers include:
Roger Ferguson Jr., the chief executive of TIAA
Mellody Hobson and John Rogers Jr., the co-chief executives of Ariel Investments
Robert F. Smith, the chief executive of Vista Equity Partners
Raymond McGuire, former Citigroup executive
Ursula Burns, a former chief executive of Xerox
Richard Parsons, a former chairman of Citigroup and chief executive of Time Warner
Tony West, the chief legal officer at Uber
The left has continued to promote a stream of false narratives regarding Georgia's recently passed election integrity law, which does not reduce Election Day hours and actually expands access for early voting. President Biden said such state laws make "Jim Crow look like Jim Eagle," and other prominent Democrats, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), have expressed similar sentiments.
In reality, Georgia's measure, specifically, doubles the amount of early voting on the weekends, providing consistency across all counties, as Heritage Action pointed out:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rocked designer duds worth more than $14,000 for her Vanity Fair cover shoot - to attack President Trump as a "motherf-ker" for not paying federal income tax.
The Bronx-born bartender-turned-politician was even gifted a $2,850 fringed suit from Loewe, the Daily Mail reported.
The site broke down the price tags for all of AOC's pricey looks in the December issue - an Aliette silk suit worth an estimated $1,000, $3,000 Carolina Herrera suit, $2,500 Christopher John Rogers suit, $815 polka dot Wales Bonner dress, $695 Christian Louboutin slingbacks, $1,450 diamond, gold and floating pearl Mateo earrings and Bvlgari earrings which run an estimated $2,000.
All told, her wardrobe rang up to $14,310.
The congresswoman, 31, also wore Christian Louboutin heels, Hirotaka earrings and a Mejuri necklace with her Loewe suit.
In the interview, Ocasio-Cortez, who has before said she's struggled to afford an apartment in Washington, DC, opened up about dressing the part on Capitol Hill.
"It's legitimately hard being a first-generation woman ... and being working class, trying to navigate a professional environment," she said. "It continues to take me so long to try to figure out how to look put-together without having a huge designer closet."

Bad-guy-turned-good: The demon-deity Maga
MAY 9, 2018
Part of a series of posts by the 2017-18 students taking the course CLE343: Supernatural Beings and Demons of Ancient Egypt / CL-M79 Ancient Egyptian Demons led by Dr. Kasia Szpakowska at Swansea University
Post written and designed by John Rogers
"If Egyptian mythology were a film, Maga would be the villain of the piece. He's a crocodile, and doesn't seem much to look at. He doesn't appear often, he deosn't socialise with the rabble, and he never explains himself (so he's no Bond villain). He hangs around in the water, quietly waiting, watching for an opportunity to attack anyone...including you.
In Pharaonic mythology, he did just this. The gods were travelling along in the nightbark, happily on their way, when Maga jumped out of the water and tore the shoulder of Osiris off. Osiris went to Heliopolis to recover, but it seems that Maga followed him, and when Osiris was alone recovering, attacked him again, intent on finishing the job.
Luckily for peace and cosmic order as the universe knew it, Osiris survived both encounters. No-one is too big for Maga to take on. Those other demons are under the control of the gods; Maga destroys the control of the gods. He's his own person.
Apparently, Osiris was not the only one to annoy Maga, because he tries exactly the same thing on Horus! He fails this time, but if you're crossing the river, beware!
Maga is a enigmatic character, never being found with other beings, apart from one. His only brother-in-crime is the infamous Apep. Perhaps these two were the Kray twins of the ancient world.
However, at the end of Egypt's Third Intermediate Period (c.1070-664BC), He seems to have a change of heart, and looks to protect those who he once tried to kill. He becomes one of a number of beings who protect the temples at Edfu and Dendera, particularly protecting the birth-houses.
His change of heart (think Darth Vader now), you'll be pleased to know, does not go unrewarded. He gets to wear the Atef crown, and even ends up joining another god to become the chief defender of a city in the Fayum - Athribis.
So he's cool. That's obvious. But is he the coolest? Well, if you can find another ancient Egyptian being who tore gods to pieces, who answers to no-one, whose best friend is Apep, who then becomes a force for good, who defends the temple order he once tried to destroy, who particularly protects mother and child during birth, who becomes the protector of a town, who perhaps even becomes one of the gods...if you can find another being like that, maybe he won't be the coolest anymore.
But until you find that other being, he is."

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/chapter-viii-obamas-state-pension-scheme
State Sen. Barack Obama and members of an Illinois lobbying group representing politically connected minority-owned businesses launched a campaign in 2000 to pressure state pension funds to help their friends and donors.
Obama and his cohorts targeted state officials in charge of pension funds for teachers, police and firemen, and regular government employees.
William Atwood, executive director of the giant Illinois State Board of Investment, or ISBI, told The Washington Examiner that Obama was relentless in applying pressure.
"Anytime I saw him, he brought the issue up. I would see him in Springfield or I would see him at a function and invariably he raised the issue," Atwood said.
John Rogers, Ariel Capital Management's CEO, and James Reynolds, founder of Loop Capital, were ABLE leaders and longtime Obama supporters. Louis A. Holland, chairman of Holland Capital Management, was also an ABLE leader and Obama donor.
The campaign succeeded in early 2001 when more than $500 million from the pension funds was transferred to Ariel and Holland, and Loop was retained as a brokerage firm, according to pension fund documents obtained by the Examiner. The State Universities Retirement System of Illinois, or SURS, awarded Ariel $49 million, while Holland got $26 million. Loop handled the trading of 2.3 million shares, according to SURS documents obtained by the Examiner.
Patrick Fitzgerald revealed in federal court proceedings that Rogers had given $22,500 to bundler Tony Rezko, who was later convicted of influence peddling.
Rogers' money was destined for the campaign of Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who, like Rezko, is now serving a federal prison sentence for public corruption. No charges were ever filed against Rogers in connection with the $22,500.
Rogers remains an Obama confidant. He has visited the White House at least 37 times since Obama's 2009 inauguration for both business and social meetings with the president, senior aides in the White House and the first lady.

Dem Lawmaker Calls Don Jr. 'Retarded,' Says His 'Mother Should Have Aborted Him'
Alabama Democratic State Rep. John Rogers said on Thursday Donald Trump Jr., the president's eldest son, is "proof that mothers ought to have the right to have an abortion" and claimed, "He is evidently retarded or crazy."
During an interview with WVTM 13, Rogers responded to Trump Jr. criticizing him for making highly egregious abortion comments earlier in the week.
"That's an honor that Donald Trump Jr. did that," Rogers said in response to Jr.'s criticism. "Thank God, right on. That lets me know I'm right, 'cause I don't know nothing he's been right on since he been here."
Rogers added, "That proves I'm right to make a scene about abortion, him being born - that's proof right there. That's a very, very good defense I have for abortion right there... him. Look at him. His mother should have aborted him [before] he was born. He wouldn't have made that stupid statement, right?"

ALABAMA REP. DOUBLES DOWN, USES TRUMP JR. TO JUSTIFY ABORTION: 'EVIDENTLY RETARDED'
Democratic Alabama state Rep. John Rogers doubled down on his abortion position Thursday by attacking Donald Trump Jr.
Saying that President Donald Trump's son was "evidently retarded or crazy," Rogers argued that Trump Jr's existence was enough to prove that he was right to support abortion rights.
Rogers had faced backlash Wednesday for comments justifying abortion. He had argued on the Alabama House floor that "unwanted" babies who were carried to term would likely end up being executed by the state after devolving into a life of crime.
"You bring them in the world unwanted, unloved, you send them to the electric chair. So, you kill them now or you kill them later," he said.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) - Former FBI director James Comey spent the day in Sarasota reflecting on his career and President Trump.
Comey was a guest speaker for the Ringling College Library Association Town Hall Lecture Series.
Before he gave his talk, he spoke candidly with reporters.
"It really was never one of my goals to be a celebrity," said Comey.
Since President Trump dismissed Comey from the FBI in 2017, Comey has openly criticized him.
"He is one of the worst listeners of a leader that I've ever seen. And that is, all of us who thought of leadership, that is deeply concerning. And [Trump] doesn't have an external framework. The only reference he has for making decisions is right here in the center of his chest," Comey said.
"I'm really worried about the impact this president has on our values that we all have in common."
In his book, "A Higher Loyalty," Comey called Trump a "forest fire."
"I chose that metaphor on purpose because a forest fire brings tremendous damage and threat. But in the wake of it, amazing things grow," he said.

Obama Spoke at Boeing Retreat After Firm Gave Millions to Library Fund
Boeing Co. lined up a surprise motivational speaker for an executive retreat in Arizona this month: former U.S. President Barack Obama.
$10 Million Donation
Boeing has emerged as one of the major corporate donors helping fund Obama's library and museum in Chicago. The aerospace giant gave $10 million to the project ahead of Obama's address to managers at a five-star Scottsdale resort in early January, according to the people, who aren't authorized to speak publicly. An Obama Foundation spokeswoman declined to confirm the exact amount of the donation, only pointing to the group's website, which says Boeing gave more than $1 million.
Fundraising Campaign
Presidents typically try to collect as much money as possible in the years immediately after leaving the White House because fundraising can become more challenging as time passes. The cost of building and sustaining a presidential library puts Obama in the position of seeking deep-pocketed benefactors at a time when some of his Democratic colleagues are shunning such donations as they contemplate 2020 White House bids.
More than $500 million in private money was raised for the most recently built presidential shrine, the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. That institution opened in 2013 at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. In Bush's case, roughly half of the fundraising went to build what now is the largest presidential library complex, while the other half went to programming, maintenance endowments and other facility-related costs.
The Obama Foundation is overseeing the development and construction of the Obama Presidential Center, which is expected to eventually be a sprawling campus in Jackson Park on Chicago's South Side.
The foundation expects the center will create 2,500 permanent jobs and deliver $2.1 billion in economic impact to Chicago's South Side, according to its most recent annual report. The report shows that the foundation raised $232.6 million in 2017 after Obama left office and fundraising began in earnest. Almost 95 percent of that came from individuals and 5.1 percent came from corporations and other foundations.
Obama's donor roster is heavily weighted with Chicago luminaries. Oprah Winfrey, the Crown family, Exelon Corp., Citadel's Ken Griffin and mutual fund CEO John Rogers Jr. all rank in the same "more than $1 million" category as Boeing, according to the foundation.

The stock market is another good place to wash money. You invest small amounts of cash in the market, several times a day, through different brokerage firms. Brokers don't routinely talk to each other, so multiple accounts with different firms won't attract suspicion. If you use your front company to buy the stock, there's yet another level of complexity for the investigators to try to unwind.

Q Research General #3498: Nervous Nellie Edition
She is "incredibly plugged in," said banker William Daley, brother of Democratic Mayor Richard Daley. "I can't think of another female on everybody's list for a corporate board seat."
The White House appointment means Jarrett, 52, will give up her job as chief executive of Habitat Co., one of the Midwest's largest property-management firms. She has already begun to step down from an array of civic boards and from corporate directorships that have brought her more than $350,000 a year in cash and benefits.
Although Jarrett's connections generally have proven profitable, they have also led to some notable embarrassments by enmeshing Habitat in the management of two dilapidated low-income housing projects. Those problems have recently attracted national attention because of Jarrett's ties to Obama.
"Do I enjoy seeing our name in the newspaper associated with an extremely troubled property?" Jarrett said. "No I don't, but I also have confidence that people know our reputation and value the job that we do."
Jarrett was born into the city's African-American elite. Her grandfather Robert Taylor was the first black chairman of the Chicago Housing Authority.Jarrett was a young City Hall lawyer in 1988 when she met Richard M. Daley at the wedding of her friend John Rogers, a prominent investment adviser.Daley was elected mayor a year later, and Jarrett rose quickly to the post of planning commissioner in his cabinet. Along the way, she hired a lawyer named Michelle Obama, who introduced Jarrett to her husband, Barack.
Jarrett became a good friend of both Obamas, serving as chairman of the finance committee for Obama's 2004 campaign for U.S. Senate and a key adviser in the presidential race.
Over the years, Jarrett has accumulated an astounding array of directorships. She has been on about 17 boards, a total that doesn't include government agencies such as the Chicago Transit Authority, where she was Daley's hand-picked chairman from 1995 to 2003.
Jarrett has been a director along with former Republican Gov. James Thompson at Navigant Consulting, an international consulting firm that has contracts worth about $2 million a year with the state.
"She brings – aside from common sense and integrity – a wealth of contacts in the Chicago community," Thompson said.
Since 2005, she also has sat on the board of RREEF America REIT II, a real estate investment trust that has obtained investments of about $23 million from the CTA pension fund and more than $120 million from state pension funds.
Until last year, Jarrett was chairman of the Chicago Stock Exchange and was a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. She has been vice chairman of the University of Chicago's board of trustees, chairman of the university's hospital board and a vice chairman of the team preparing the city's bid for the 2016 Olympics – one of the mayor's most cherished initiatives.

WASHINGTON - Hollywood is opening its wallet for the Obama Foundation, which Tuesday reported 31 new donors who have contributed $1 million or more to the former president's future center in Chicago.
Donors in the million-dollar-or-more circle include a foundation tied to Shonda Rhimes, who grew up in suburban Chicago and created TV hits such as "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal." A foundation affiliated with Philip Rosenthal, creator of television's "Everybody Loves Raymond," also has given at least $1 million.
And the Lucas Family Foundation started by "Star Wars" creator George Lucas gave an unspecified new gift, after the organization already had given the Obama Foundation at least $1 million as of last April. Lucas' wife, Mellody Hobson, is a Chicago native and president of Ariel Investments. It was founded by John Rogers Jr., who sits on the Obama Foundation board.
Other recent donors to give at least a million: the Chicago-based Exelon Corporation; the Goldman Sachs Philanthropy Fund; the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; and the Microsoft Corporation. Others to give at least $1 million include the Ford Foundation; The Steans Family Foundation, which focuses on Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood; and the Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation.
The latest list represents donors who made new cash contributions during the last three months of 2017 and made written commitments last year after Obama left office, the foundation said. The money will help pay for Barack Obama's presidential center in Jackson Park, which is set to break ground this year and open in 2021. ..

MEET OBAMA'S BUNLDER'S
Who are they all tied to? This guy:
(((Jim Reynolds Jr. chairman and CEO, Loop Capital)))
(Crain's) – He may be a proponent of "new politics," but Barack Obama's presidential campaign runs on the same old fuel as that of any other candidate: big donations. Mr. Obama has lots of $50 and $100 givers in his hometown and elsewhere, with many enticed to contribute via the Internet.
But Chicagoans also have been particularly active in snagging the bigger bucks, with about 100 top local fundraisers, or "bundlers," collectively pulling in donations in the neighborhood of $10 million to get the senator to the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
Though not all of that was raised locally, his Chicago bundlers undoubtedly account for a big chunk of the nearly $16.9 million he pulled out of Illinois overall.
And those figures are just as of June 30, with the fall campaign – and lots more bundling – yet to come.
The list includes a broad swath of the city's upper crust, with particular representation from the black business community and the venture-capital, hedge-fund and investment industries, which face higher taxes and tighter regulation under some proposals pending in Congress.
No area of the country contributed more than the Near North Side's 60614 ZIP code.
Atop the list are scions of some of Chicago's wealthiest clans, the (((Pritzkers and the Crowns)))
Notably absent, at least so far, are several fundraisers known for their work for Bill and Hillary Clinton.
But well-represented are veterans of other former presidential contenders, as well as a father and a son (lawyers Alan and David Solow), two statewide officials who'd like to move up the political food chain (Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes and Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias), a courtroom full of lawyers.

Two years after losing an election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000 to Cong. Bobby Rush, Barack Obama, an Illinois state senator at the time, invited a group of influential Black business leaders to brunch at his Hyde Park home.
There, he announced his intent to run for the U.S. Senate, and asked for their support. The rest is history still in the making. The fact that a state lawmaker had access to such an elite group is not unusual. But that such an elite group of Black business leaders exists in one city is unusual.
Some might challenge my assessment based on sheer numbers of Black entrepreneurs and CEOs in cities such as Atlanta and New York. But put the statistics aside, and Chicago emerges with a distinction no other city can claim: Our Black business leaders find strength in their numbers, and actually work together to benefit the broader African American community.
Five of Chicago's top Black CEOs are featured on the cover of the June issue of BW Chicago, Business Week magazine's special Chicago edition. They are Frank Clark of ComEd; John Rogers of Ariel Capital Management; Valerie Jarrett of Habitat; Jim Reynolds of Loop Capital; and Quintin Primo of Capri Capital Partners.

THE STORM General #8 Extreme Migrant Vetting Edition
In a speech to the Urban League last July, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., boasted of his efforts in 2001 to help a handful of African American-owned investment firms in Chicago get a larger share of business with Illinois state pension funds. "And in six months, they got about a half-billion dollars' worth of business simply on their excellence," Obama said.
What he did not say in his speech was that the owner of one of the investment firms, John Rogers of Ariel Capital, is a principal campaign fundraiser. Nor did he reveal that employees of the firms he helped have since contributed to or helped to raise more than $765,000 for his campaigns, according to campaign documents. Nor did he mention that two of the firms have allowed him to use their private jets. Nor did he mention that two of the firms have since been dismissed by the state pension fund for "underperformance."

Thank you, Anon. Since Q mentioned the bread crumb of "Loop Capital" by name perhaps Q knew the trail of following the money would lead us to the Podesta Emails and then to this list of affiliated people and companies?
Maybe we can focus on a couple of questions that this "Loop Capital" email from the Podesta Emails on Wiki Leaks reveals.
Question #1. Who is FRANK WHITE of New York and why is he at the fulcrum of this meeting that is being put together by Podesta and Hillary in 2015?
Question #2. Q told us to "follow the money," and the people listed as attendees at this "round table" are affiliated with the following companies:
1. PINESTREET ASSET MANAGEMENT - Brian Mathis, Partner
2. PHAROS CAPITAL - Kneeland Youngblood
3. ADVENT CAPITAL - Tracy Maitland, Founder
4. THE BREWER GROUP - Jack Brewer, Founder
5.CITIGROUP - Ray McGuire, Global Head of Banking
6. PEPSI - Frank Cooper, Head of Marketing/Consumer Engagement
7. PEPSI - Tony West, General Counsel
8. KWL ENTERPRISES - Kevin Liles, Founder (Former Senior Exec at WARNER MUSIC)
9. ARIAL CAPITAL - John Rogers, Founder
10. WILLIAMS CAPITAL - Chris Williams, Founder

Guys? Q just told us to "follow the money" so I searched for "Loop Capital" in Wikileaks' Podesta Emails, and there are 51 results.
Here is a (split link) tiny url link to the 51 emails with "LOOP CAPITAL" in them found in the Wikileaks Podesta Emails.

Can anyone dig into these 51 emails with "Loop Capital" that I found on Wikileaks?
One email of note (split link here: https://wikileaks. org/podesta-emails/emailid/35936) lists some people that Milia Fisher (at HillarClinton .com) set up with John Podesta on May 25, 2015.
One of the attendees of this meeting with Frank White of New York is JIM REYNOLDS of LOOP CAPITAL.
Perhaps we can look into the other attendees, which are listed in the email text below.

John Rogers, Ariel Capital Management's CEO, and James Reynolds,
founder of Loop Capital, were ABLE leaders and longtime Obama
supporters. Louis A. Holland, chairman of Holland Capital Management,
was also an ABLE leader and Obama donor.
Rogers was especially close, having played basketball with Michelle
Obama's brother at Princeton and shot hoops with Barack Obama.
Reynolds and Obama played basketball at Chicago's chic East Bank Club
and golfed at the South Shore course.
Rogers recalled the state pension scheme in a 2007 interview in which he
prudently cast it as an effort "to force other industries to have their 'Jackie
Robinson' moment," just as Jackson had done with many Fortune 500
companies.
