The Evidence Is Clear: Masks Don't Do Anything…
Monday, Dec 15, 2025 - 02:00 PM
Authored by Kit Knightly via Off-Guardian.org,
We're being hit with the "Super Flu" (allegedly), and that means everyone wants us to wear masks again.
We went over this (a lot) in 2020.
Then we went over it again in 2023.
Masks don't work, they never worked, and - prior to 2020 - the academic literature was very clear on this.
In a 2016 literature review, infection control expert Dr John Hardie found [emphasis added]:
Between 2004 and 2016 at least a dozen research or review articles have been published on the inadequacies of face masks. All agree that the poor facial fit and limited filtration characteristics of face masks make them unable to prevent the wearer inhaling airborne particles. In their well-referenced 2011 article on respiratory protection for healthcare workers, Drs. Harriman and Brosseau conclude that, "facemasks will not protect against the inhalation of aerosols."
[...]
Health care workers have long relied heavily on surgical masks to provide protection against influenza and other infections. Yet there are no convincing scientific data that support the effectiveness of masks for respiratory protection.
[...]
It should be concluded from these and similar studies that the filter material of face masks does not retain or filter out viruses
Why Face Masks Don't Work: A Revealing Review
That study was removed from the website of the Journal of Oral Health in July 2020, because it was "no longer relevant in our current climate". Which is perfectly normal, I'm sure.
Another study, conducted in 2019 and published in May 2020, concluded:
Disposable medical masks are loose-fitting devices that were designed to be worn by medical personnel to protect accidental contamination of patient wounds, and to protect the wearer against splashes or sprays of bodily fluids. There is limited evidence for their effectiveness in preventing influenza virus transmission either when worn by the infected person for source control or when worn by uninfected persons to reduce exposure. Our systematic review found no significant effect of face masks on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza.
Nonpharmaceutical Measures for Pandemic Influenza in Nonhealthcare Settings-Personal Protective and Environmental Measures
In 2023, the Cochrane Report by Jefferson et al. found:
Wearing masks in the community probably makes little or no difference to the outcome of influenza?like illness (ILI)/COVID?19 like illness compared to not wearing masks [...] Wearing masks in the community probably makes little or no difference to the outcome of laboratory?confirmed influenza/SARS?CoV?2 compared to not wearing masks...
Physical interventions to interrupt or reduce the spread of respiratory viruses
None of this is new information; we've published it all before, but if they keep pitching the same lies, we'll just have to keep batting with the same facts.
When it comes to preventing disease, masks are not effective. They never worked. The science backs this up.

This is neither an ideological position nor a moral position. It is simply a rational, fact-based position.
Anyone saying otherwise is misinformed, ideologically captured, willfully dishonest or some combination of all three.

Trump to meet with Zelenskyy as Ukraine pushes for powerful American
Tomahawk missiles amid ongoing war
Zelenskyy meeting comes one day after Trump held phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin
By Caitlin McFall
Fox News
Published October 17, 2025 6:00am EDT
President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are set to meet at the White House on Friday to discuss big-ticket defensive items and strategies to better counter Russia's war.
The meeting, announced earlier this week, comes just one day after Trump held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Zelenskyy has made clear his chief aim is to secure better defenses for Ukraine amid Russia's constant aerial bombardments of civilian targets like cities, energy infrastructure and hospitals, and his big-ticket item is the American Tomahawk missile.
With the capability of hitting beyond even Moscow, the sophisticated high-precision long-range cruise missile could increase Ukraine's ability to strike further into Russia and better target not only its military complex, but its oil industry, which has largely funded Putin's war chest.
But one security expert warned that "no one weapon system is going to be a wonder weapon or a game changer, per se," John Hardie, deputy director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies' (FDD) Russia Program told Fox News Digital.
Hardie said that countering Russia's war must be done through a series of tactics which includes increased missile capability for Ukraine, but also by targeting Russia's war chest by undermining its economy through sanctions, hitting its oil industry and crippling its defense complex.
Thirdly, Ukraine must be better equipped in its war effort on the front lines.
"Putin still seems to believe, or chooses to believe, that he can grind down Ukrainian forces in this war of attrition, and that eventually that will give him a pathway to accomplishing some of his goals," Hardie said. "He's going to have to be disabused of that.
"The goal should be to exhaust the Russian military's offensive potential," he added.
Hardie also pointed out that while big ticket items like Tomahawks would be useful for Ukraine given its long-range and heavy payload capabilities, there are items that Kyiv could more efficiently employ for its daily needs.
"We kind of fixate on that one system, but there are a broad range of things that the United States can do to enhance Ukrainian long-range precision strike capabilities," he said.
Systems like the Extended-Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles, which are a more affordable long-range cruise missile specifically designed by the U.S. for Ukraine, have been slated to arrive beginning in October.
Hardie also pointed to defensive systems, which are useful and needed to better protect against Russia's constant missile and drone attacks, like Patriot battery systems.
Following his call with Putin on Thursday, Trump said "great progress" was made, but he did not provide any specifics on how progress was achieved, though the pair agreed to once again meet in person, this time in Hungary.
Though Trump said the pair discussed U.S.-Russia trade, he did not say whether U.S. aid to Ukraine was discussed, which appeared to be the impetus for the call earlier this week when he told reporters he "might have to speak" with Putin regarding whether he wanted U.S. Tomahawks near his borders, in what appeared to be an implied threat.
But neither Tomahawks nor defensive aid were mentioned in the president's account of the talks.
Though, according to Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the issue was discussed and opposed by Putin.
"Vladimir Putin reiterated his thesis that Tomahawks won't change the situation on the battlefield, but they will cause significant damage to relations between our countries. Not to mention the prospects for a peaceful settlement," he told reporters following the call, according to Reuters.

The confirmed effectiveness of medical masks is crucially important for lower-resource and emergency settings lacking access to N95 respirators. In such cases, single-use medical masks are preferable to cloth masks, for which there is no evidence of protection and which might facilitate transmission of pathogens when used repeatedly without adequate sterilization [8].
We found no clear benefit of either medical masks or N95 respirators against pH1N1. However, current policies mandating standard and droplet precautions when performing routine care for influenza patients are reasonable. RCTs conducted in community settings have demonstrated protective effects of medical masks in combination with hand-hygiene and other infection control interventions

Flu virus is about 1000 times smaller than the width of a human hair. This study looks at the pore sizes of 20 different cotton masks versus N-95 surgical masks.
The researchers found that all of the cotton masks had pore sizes that were bigger than the width of a human hair - and got even bigger after washing. This means that the width of the holes in every cotton mask are 1000 times bigger than the size of the corona virus. Like trying to catch a fish with a net where the holes were 1000 times bigger than the fish you were trying to catch. surgical masks might stop bacteria - which are ten times bigger than viruses.

Why Face Masks Don't Work: A Revealing Review
John Hardie, PhD, Oral Health Group
"Yesterday's Scientific Dogma is Today's Discarded Fable"
Introduction
The above quotation is ascribed to Justice Archie Campbell author of Canada's SARS Commission Final Report. 1 It is a stark reminder that scientific knowledge is constantly changing as new discoveries contradict established beliefs. For at least three decades a face mask has been deemed an essential component of the personal protective equipment worn by dental personnel. A current article, "Face Mask Performance: Are You Protected" gives the impression that masks are capable of providing an acceptable level of protection from airborne pathogens. 2 Studies of recent diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and the Ebola Crisis combined with those of seasonal influenza and drug resistant tuberculosis have promoted a better understanding of how respiratory diseases are transmitted. Concurrently, with this appreciation, there have been a number of clinical investigations into the efficacy of protective devices such as face masks. This article will describe how the findings of such studies lead to a rethinking of the benefits of wearing a mask during the practice of dentistry. It will begin by describing new concepts relating to infection control especially personal protective equipment (PPE).
Trends in Infection Control
For the past three decades there has been minimal opposition to what have become seemingly established and accepted infection control recommendations. In 2009, infection control specialist Dr. D. Diekema questioned the validity of these by asking what actual, front-line hospital-based infection control experiences were available to such authoritative organization as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). 3 In the same year, while commenting on guidelines for face masks, Dr. M. Rupp of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America noted that some of the practices relating to infection control that have been in place for decades, "haven't been subjected to the same strenuous investigation that, for instance, a new medicine might be subjected." 4 He opined that perhaps it is the relative cheapness and apparent safety of face masks that has prevented them from undergoing the extensive studies that should be required for any quality improvement device. 4 More recently, Dr. R. MacIntyre, a prolific investigator of face masks, has forcefully stated that the historical reliance on theoretical assumptions for recommending PPEs should be replaced by rigorously acquired clinical data. 5 She noted that most studies on face masks have been based on laboratory simulated tests which quite simply have limited clinical applicability as they cannot account for such human factors as compliance, coughing and talking. 5
Covering the nose and mouth for infection control started in the early 1900s when the German physician Carl Flugge discovered that exhaled droplets could transmit tuberculosis. 4 The science regarding the aerosol transmission of infectious diseases has, for years, been based on what is now appreciated to be "very outmoded research and an overly simplistic interpretation of the data." 6

Yea, maybe you should do some light reading.
Cloth masks are ineffective as source control and PPE, surgical masks have some role to play in preventing emissions from infected patients, and respirators are the best choice for protecting healthcare and other frontline workers, but not recommended for source control. These recommendations apply to pandemic and non-pandemic situations.

A cluster randomised trial of cloth masks compared with medical masks in healthcare workers
We have provided the first clinical efficacy data of cloth masks, which suggest HCWs should not use cloth masks as protection against respiratory infection. Cloth masks resulted in significantly higher rates of infection than medical masks, and also performed worse than the control arm. The controls were HCWs who observed standard practice, which involved mask use in the majority, albeit with lower compliance than in the intervention arms. The control HCWs also used medical masks more often than cloth masks. When we analysed all mask-wearers including controls, the higher risk of cloth masks was seen for laboratory-confirmed respiratory viral infection.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4420971/
This experiment did not include N95 masks and does not reflect the actual transmission of infection from patients with COVID-19 wearing different types of masks. We do not know whether masks shorten the travel distance of droplets during coughing. Further study is needed to recommend whether face masks decrease transmission of virus from asymptomatic individuals or those with suspected COVID-19 who are not coughing.
In conclusion, both surgical and cotton masks seem to be ineffective in preventing the dissemination of SARS-CoV-2 from the coughs of patients with COVID-19 to the environment and external mask surface.
