Newsmakers: Representative Joe Crowley
House Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley (D-NY) talked about his concerns about President Trump and the "soul searching" House Democrats were doing as they worked out what issues they should stress after their 2016 election losses. Topics included his party's efforts to oppose President Trump, calls for a congressional investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and other Trump aides' discussions with Russian officials, recent immigration enforcement raids, and congressional battles over the Affordable Care Act. After the interview the reporters discussed his responses with the host.

Campaign 2024: Former President Trump Holds Rally in Waterford Township, Michigan
During a Waterford Township, Michigan, campaign rally, 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump addressed the decision against him in a civil fraud case. A judge ruled that the former president must pay more than $350 million, and barred Mr. Trump and his sons from conducting business in New York for three years. The former president called the judge "crooked" and "a radical left-wing judge." Mr. Trump defended his business practices, saying that he had made a lot of people a lot of money.

Political watchers have wondered when the relationship between the two big personalities will go sour and even some Republicans assume a rift is inevitable, especially with Musk working closely with the Trump team as he takes on DOGE.
"I assume at some point there'll be a rift because history tells us...most people do not last a long time in Trump's world. Maybe, Musk will people defy that but history tells us that that's not the case," GOP strategist Doug Heye said.
Heye called the Democrats' efforts to get under Trump's skin by labeling Musk as president "just trolling" and argued it's "not always effective."
A Trump spokesperson fired back at Democrats, saying the party "just lost the House, Senate, and presidency because their abysmal policy proposals failed Americans for the past four years."
"Democrats have nothing but ad-hominem attacks because they lost everything," Trump-Vance Transition spokesperson Anna Kelly added.
Among Democrats who are propping up Musk with the faux title of president, there seem to be different motivations.
Some said they think it simply reflects the reality of who's truly in charge, and they're hoping to shine a bright light on the extraordinary fact that an unelected figure has assumed so much power over public policy.
"The fact speaks for itself: The one that first disrupted the bill was Musk, and the one that helped pay for the presidency was Musk, and the one that has been in front of Trump- and that's hard to do- has been Musk," Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) said. "So it's clear to me that there's some kind of coalition between the two of them on what is the best way to run the country."
Meeks suggested Trump would be easier to work with without Musk's intervention in policy debates. "That probably would be helpful," he said.
Still, there's also a sense that the Democrats' "President Musk" campaign is part of a political strategy designed to drive a wedge between the billionaire, who plays by his own rules, and the incoming president, who demands loyalty and doesn't have much tolerance for challenges to his authority.
Most might not be saying it out loud, but some lawmakers suggestedthat was at least part of the objective.
Asked if Democrats were trying to incite that clash, Bera was coy."We would never do anything like that,==" he quipped.
Democrats piled on the Musk taunts in the midst of the impasse over government funding, which was solved just before the deadline on Friday. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) argued Musk "pulled the rug out from underneath" Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) argued that Musk "is calling the shots."
Former Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.), who called Musk Trump's "second vice president," called the degree of influence the South African-born billionaire has as an unelected official "unprecedented."
Pretty amazing they had a fake president and the staff running things, but criticizing Trump for having an advisor?

First woman to pilot a space shuttle explains how she got there
Mar 29, 2024
RENO - The first woman to pilot a space shuttle touched down at the University of Nevada, Reno on March 21 to remind women there is no glass ceiling in space.
NASA astronaut Eileen Collins' visit to the university's Women in Space event, a family-friendly gathering during Women's History Month that celebrates the world of aerospace and provides a glimpse into possible career options involving aviation or space. Over 500 visitors of all ages attended.
To begin the night, the Joe Crowley Student Union ballroom hosted vendors including the University of Nevada Reno Aerospace Club, Women in Aviation International, the Reno-based defense contractor Tactical Air Support, the Nevada NASA Space Grant and even a small inflatable walk-in planetarium, which previewed a program from the university's Fleischmann Planetarium. A table of free packets of astronaut ice cream proved popular during the evening.
The centerpiece of the event was an educational keynote talk with Collins, who was the first woman to pilot a space shuttle on the NASA's 1995 STS-63 mission flying the shuttle Discovery with a crew that included Russian cosmonauts.
"Working with Eileen was always a pleasure," former NASA flight director Paul Dye said as he introduced Collins. "She was a steady, calming influence and always knew how to steer things towards a good solution. She knew that ... she understood that our problems were not just technical, but they were also social. We all needed to work together."
Collins said space is key to moving society forward. "I think the most important issue taking place in the world today is the mission of space exploration," she said. Before sharing a detailed reflection on the past and present of space travel, Collins shared how she first fell in love with the idea of flying through the sky.
She said her parents were instrumental role models in her journey to become a pilot, with her mother Rose Collins affirming her identity as a one-of-a-kind person and her father James Collins encouraging her to forge her own path instead of following the crowd.
Collins said she appreciated her mother taking her on trips to the library during her youth in Elmira, New York. With books such as "The Stars at Noon," an autobiography by WWII Air Force Pilot Jackie Cochran, she built an interest in aviation. "I didn't really have the money to take flying lessons when I was younger. So I learned through books," she said.
"My first memory of space was in fourth grade. I was sitting at my desk in school and I read a magazine about the Gemini astronauts," Eileen Collins added. "I remember thinking, 'I want to be a pilot and I want to go farther, faster and higher.'"
So, Collins committed to the dream, saving money from part-time jobs to pay for flying lessons at age 19.
"I was very scared to call the airport or visit the airport and ask them to teach me to fly, because I thought they would say 'You're a girl' or 'You're too young' or 'We're not going to teach you.' So it took a lot of courage on my part to actually make that call, to go up and learn how to fly," she said.
"I remember calling and they said, 'Oh, we'd love to teach you how to fly. Come on up.'" So I went up to the airport. I met the instructors," she said. "They actually taught me to develop a love for flying."
Collins said it was important she found courage to overcome the fear of being told "no."

Likewise, Crowley, who has been in Congress since 1999, is the No. 4 Democrat in the House and was widely viewed as an eventual successor to minority leader Nancy Pelosi. Though he was a stalwart progressive on nearly every issue, he also had close ties to Wall Street. This made him a formidable fundraiser, something Ocasio-Cortez turned against Crowley in the primary. She eventually fundraised about $600,000 through small-dollar donors.

"This Is Huge" - Formerly Homeless BLM Activist Defeats Democratic Incumbent In Missouri Primary
In what appears to be a replay of AOC's spectacular primary victory over Queens Democratic Boss Joe Crowley, Cori Bush, a onetime homeless woman and single mother who helped lead protests in Ferguson following the killing of Michael Brown back in 2014, has triumphed over sitting Democratic Rep. William Lacy Clay, the scion of a Missouri political dynasty.
The race was a rematch between the two candidates: Bush narrowly lost to Clay during a similar primary challenge back in 2018. However, it appears the upswell of support for BLM activists in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd helped energize the Democratic "grass roots", who in turn helped bring Bush over the top.
Despite the COVID-19 outbreak, turnout was higher in Missouri's first district race by 6,000 votes this time around, a factor that clearly helped Bush. Bush defeated Clay with a plurality - 49% of the vote - with all precincts reporting, according to the AP.
In her victory remarks, Bush gleefully lampooned the Democratic establishment for trying to "dismiss the protester".
An emotional Bush, speaking to supporters while wearing a mask, said few people expected her to win.
"They counted us out," she said. "They called me - I'm just the protester, I'm just the activist with no name, no title and no real money. That's all they said that I was. But St. Louis showed up today."
Bush's campaign spokeswoman, Keenan Korth, said voters in the district were "galvanized."
"They're ready to turn the page on decades of failed leadership," Korth said.
Bush, 44, also had backing from political action committee Justice Democrats and Fight Corporate Monopolies this election. She campaigned for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders during his presidential bid.
Bush's primary win essentially guarantees her a seat in Congress representing the heavily Democratic St. Louis area. Missouri's 1st Congressional District has been represented by Clay or his father for a half-century. Bill Clay served 32 years before retiring in 2000.
William Lacy Clay, 64, was elected that year.
Clay didn't face a serious challenger until Bush. This year, he ran on his decades-long record in Congress.
"This election is a simple choice," Clay said in a Monday statement. "Cori Bush's Empty Rhetoric, or my record of real results and real reforms for the people."

AOC Challenger Caruso-Cabrera Earns Wall Street Support, GOP
With the goal of unseating first-term Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic socialist and member of the self-proclaimed "Squad," some major Wall Street players are financially backing her Democratic primary opponent, former business journalist Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, campaign records show.
Caruso-Cabrera, a Republican-turned-Democrat and the daughter and granddaughter of working-class Italian and Cuban immigrants, is challenging Ocasio-Cortez in New York's primary in the 14th Congressional District, which encompasses neighborhoods in parts of The Bronx and Queens.
In 2018, Ocasio-Cortez catapulted from obscurity to an upset primary win over then-Rep. Joe Crowley, before an election win in November. Crowley had served in Congress since 1999 and was Chair of the House Democratic Caucus.
Caruso-Cabrera is the author of the 2010 book, You Know I'm Right: More Prosperity, Less Government. The book has a foreword by Larry Kudlow, President Donald Trump's National Economic Council director, and advocates for "fiscal conservatism, limited government and personal responsibility." She served as CNBC's Chief International Correspondent for eight years.
Caruso-Cabrera's top donors feature Blackstone CEO Steve Schwarzman and Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon. They both contributed the maximum $2,800. Schwarzman briefly served as Chairman of President Donald Trump's Strategic and Policy Forum.
Her other key contributors include Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone, a pro-Trump GOP donor, and his wife, Elaine. The couple gifted a combined $11,200 to the former CNBC host's campaign. Ken and Elaine gave the maximum donation of $2,800 each for the primary and general election. By law, Caruso-Cabrera can only spend half of that total for the primary, which will be held on June 23.
Earlier this week, the New York Post reported that Republicans have contributed to Caruso-Cabrera's campaign, as well as an "anti-AOC" super PAC partly financed by her husband Stephen Dizard, an investment banker and GOP-donor.
Federal Elections Commission (FEC) reports show Ocasio-Cortez's campaign has raised $10.5 million compared to Caruso-Cabrera's $2 million. The first-time incumbent had $4.6 million in cash-on-hand to Caruso-Cabrera's $1 million.
"It's not surprising that Republicans would finance the campaign of a lifelong Republican in a Democratic primary," Ocasio-Cortez's spokeswoman, Lauren Hitt, told the New York Post. "While we have pushed against corporate power with policies that favor everyday working Americans, those donors prefer to bankroll a candidate who answers to Wall Street over the needs of our constituents."
Caruso-Cabrera's campaign told the Post that she is the best candidate to create jobs in New York, a city that has been ravaged by homelessness, job loss and looting.
"New York businesses are supporting a Caruso-Cabrera because she wants to create jobs for people. What's bad about that? Compare that with AOC, who chased 25,000 jobs out of New York," Caruso-Cabrera's campaign spokesman Hank Sheinkopf told the New York Post.
SaraACarter.com will continue to report on New York's primary races.

AOC top adviser Corbin Trent abruptly exits campaign
By Carl Campanile
March 3, 2020 | 10:53am
https://nypost.com/2020/03/03/aoc-top-adviser-corbin-trent-abruptly-exits-campaign/
A top adviser to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has abruptly left her campaign, The Post has learned.
The freshman lawmaker's campaign spokesman, Corbin Trent, revealed his surprise departure when a reporter contacted him for comment on Sunday.
His affiliation with AOC was also scrubbed from his twitter account.
Trent referred questions to AOC's campaign manager Rebecca Rodriguez, who declined comment.
He was part of AOC's brain trust when she shocked the political world by ousting ex-Rep. and then-Queens Democratic Party leader Joe Crowley in the 2018 Democratic Party, becoming the youngest woman elected to Congress.
AOC, a democratic socialist, has emerged as one of the most powerful voices on the political left in the US. She is heavily favored to win re-election later this year in the 14th congressional district covering parts of The Bronx and Queens.
Trent, 31, is a co-founder of Justice Democrats, the progressive political action committee that recruited and backed Ocasio-Cortez's successful insurgency that toppled Crowley and backs other leftist primary challengers against incumbents deemed too tied to the status quo and monied interests.
He also worked on Bernie Sanders' 2016 campaign for president.
Trent was AOC's congressional communications director before she reassigned him to work on her re-election campaign last summer when her chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabati, also a leader at Justice Democrats, departed to join a group, New Consensus, to work on climate change issues, the Intercept first reported.
Holy shit, the guy was a co-founder of Justice Democrats?

Instead, Ocasio-Cortez is ramping up her donor base with the help of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., whom she endorsed for president in October, to funnel money directly to progressive candidates.
Through social media posts and email solicitations, she's activated her donor network to support her hand-picked candidates. In 2019 alone, she funneled more than $300,000 to candidates she's endorsed by hosting online fundraising campaigns for them, according to records obtained by Fox News.
"I want to help frontline members by putting that money straight into their pocket," Ocasio-Cortez said.
Bucking the Democratic Party line, Ocasio-Cortez led online fundraisers for at least two progressives who are trying to defeat sitting Democratic members of Congress.
She solicited nearly $18,000 in donations for Marie Newman, who is taking on current Illinois Rep. Dan Lipinski, a conservative Democrat who opposes abortion. She also gave Newman an additional $5,000 directly from her campaign account. Ocasio-Cortez also raised nearly $35,000 in online donations for progressive challenger Jessica Cisneros, who is trying to defeat Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas.
"Certainly, these are new times," Cuellar said of his colleague's effort to oust him, "which is something that we certainly don't agree with."
Cuellar said Democrats should be focused on the larger goal of beating Republicans and retaining the House majority. "To have people try to purify the caucus because they don't agree with them - 100 percent, I certainly don't agree with that."
"Hopefully, we will start to get away from this circular firing squad," said Cuellar, who paid all his dues to the DCCC, records show.
Ocasio-Cortez views herself as a vehicle to help candidates who wouldn't ordinarily have access to DCCC resources and "to really bring in people from outside the traditional political process," she said.
But she does support some colleagues: "I'm happy to support some incumbents, but it's not just a blanket rule."
In one online appeal, Ocasio-Cortez urged her supporters to back "bold swing district Democrats" by donating to Rep. Mike Levin from California, Rep. Jahana Hayes of Connecticut, and Rep. Katie Hill (before she resigned from Congress amid a throuple sex scandal with a staffer).
AOC's supporters pitched in $38,000 for Levin and $35,500 Hayes – both frontline DCCC members in competitive districts.
Other beneficiaries of her online campaigns include Sanders (nearly $36,000) and fellow liberal squad members Reps. Rashida Tlaib (about $10,000), Ilhan Omar ($29,000) and Ayanna Pressley ($3,800).
Ocasio-Cortez gained nationwide fame when the former bartender from the Bronx upset powerful 10-term incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley, D-N.Y., in the 2018 primary. Now at just 30 years old, the Democratic socialist has turned into a fundraising juggernaut.
In the third quarter of 2019, she raised $1.42 million – more than any other House Democrat. She beat out top Democrats like Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Adam Schiff by rejecting corporate PAC dollars and traditional high-dollar fundraisers and instead relying on grassroots small-dollar fans who are rooting for the young pol and her unapologetic fight for progressive ideals, like the Green New Deal.
Her fourth-quarter fundraising is even bigger. Her campaign nearly hit its goal of raising $2 million in the final three months of 2019 from online donors from every state. That amount puts her 2019 fundraising at more than $5 million, a groundbreaking amount for the youngest female ever elected to Congress.
She's benefited from joint online fundraising campaigns with Sanders that's expanded her fundraising base and her commitments for reoccurring monthly contributions. His online appeals have raised more than $140,000 for Ocasio-Cortez, while she's raised about $36,000 for Sanders by appealing to her supporters, according to her campaign.

The Coming Second Civil War in America: Part One
by Brian Wiggins
???If Charlottesville was Harpers Ferry, America is Heading for another Fort Sumter and a second civil war. In fact, this war has already begun.
The election to Congress in New York's 14th District of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez delivered an upset to establishment Democratic power player Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) in the district's primary election, running on a platform that promises to abolish all immigration and border enforcement. Ocasio-Cortez is calling on left wing and open borders activists to "occupy" all United States airports, all borders in the U.S., and every office of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. Her "New Green Deal" would shut down all hydrocarbons and turn the country into a huge Hutterite colony.
Crowley's status as the fourth-ranking Democrat in the House did not save him. Journalists noted that Crowley was just too white for his district, which is now 50 percent Latino and Puerto Rican and only 22 percent white. Ocasio-Cortez is increasingly shaping the Democrat party's open borders platform along with a "Green New Deal" and 70% tax rates. It's no party for old white men.
Ocasio-Cortez affirmed this racial claim by posting that women of colour "want to unseat these white male incumbents" on her Twitter account. Her mother is a Puerto Rican migrant, and she won by selling herself as a fellow Latino who would promote immigration and aid for Puerto Rico. There are echoes of this in Canada. Liberal candidate, Karen Wan in Burnaby South, a riding that is 40% Chinese, said in a Mandarin language newspaper, that she was the only candidate of Chinese descent and that her opponent was Indian. That's what the left calls a "dog whistle." This is just the tip of the iceberg. You can expect a lot more whistling in the coming few years as the totalitarians in Beijing and the NCCM continue to tighten their grip on their diaspora.
Whites people must begin to organize, explicitly, for their own legitimate interests.
Ocasio-Cortez's platform reads like a Marxist wish list, similar to our own Jagmeet Singh's NDP. Free Medicare, a carbon free electrical grid, Federal job guarantees, free tuition for all and student debt cancellation. That's a big number by the way. Americans owe over $1.48 trillion in student loan debt, spread out among about 44 million hopeless borrowers. That's $620 billion more than total U.S. credit card debt.[1] Their futures have been forfeited by pathological, income and job crushing, mass immigration policy. Ocasio-Cortez compares electing Democrats to ending slavery and believes that all illegal aliens deserve a "right of passage" to freely enter the United States. "They're" in a fight, make no mistake about it.
The 28 year-old "Latinx." believes that the U.S. is committing "international human rights abuses" at the U.S.-Mexico border because of President Trump's "zero tolerance" policy. She has declared her support for a "Marshall Plan," to rebuild hurricane-wracked Puerto Rico, referring to the U.S. territory as an "invaded" colony. She thinks that "because we are standing on native land and Latino people are descendants of native people" that Hispanics should be exempt from immigration laws on racial grounds.[2] Her loyalty lies with anything and everything non-white.
Puerto Rico provides a useful test case of open-borders ideology, because about three-fifths of all Puerto Ricans on earth now live in the fifty states. The Puerto Rican example suggests that Third-Worlders would stop coming to America only after their standard of living descends to Third World levels.[3] Democratic strategists are hoping that an exodus from Puerto Rico, exacerbated by more hurricanes, will deliver Florida's 29 electoral votes in 2020. America has now become, like Canada, a colony of the world.
DNC chairman Tom Perez says that Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez is "the future of our party." Forget Make America Great Again. If Ocasio-Cortez is the future, and she is, she'll make America Venezuela.
Demographics are Destiny and Destiny is in the Balance
This past election cycle in the U.S. there was a clear pattern of non-whites winning Democratic nominations. As the Washington Post noted in a story about Stacey Abrams, the nominee in the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial election, "The rapidly changing complexion of the South, which has seen the percentages of African Americans, Hispanics, and Asian Americans increase, creates the potential for a political makeover."
Whites owe their nations to non-whites

The three most prolific members of the so-called "squad" of freshman Democratic congresswoman face allegations of violating campaign finance laws and House ethics rules for their personal or political benefit 10 months into their terms.
Below are the Federal Election Commission (FEC) complaints and House ethics inquiries that have been filed against Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan since they took Washington, D.C., by storm in January with the promise of bringing about a more equitable and just world.
Ocasio-Cortez Could Face 'Jail Time' Over Unreported Affiliation With Outside PAC
Ocasio-Cortez's political rise in 2018 was made possible in large part to Justice Democrats PAC, an outside political action committee that recruited her to enter politics in 2017 and provided much of her campaign's staffing and overhead needs in the lead-up to her June 2018 primary victory over former Rep. Joe Crowley.
Ocasio-Cortez's relationship with Justice Democrats became the subject of intense scrutiny in 2019, resulting in two complaints submitted to the FEC.
One complaint, submitted in April, centered on Ocasio-Cortez's control over Justice Democrats while the PAC was simultaneously supporting her primary campaign.
Ocasio-Cortez and her former campaign chair Saikat Chakrabarti were appointed to hold two of the PAC's three board seats in December 2017, but the Federal Election Commission was never notified of the affiliation between her campaign and Justice Democrats.

PAC for 'The Squad' Launches Facebook Ads Hitting DCCC Over Diversity Fiasco
Using DCCC as fundraising foil is long-standing tactic for Justice Democrats
The political action committee that helped cement the rise of the four Democratic congresswomen who eventually became known as "the Squad" has launched a set of Facebook ads fundraising off the recent diversity fiasco at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). The new ads from the PAC, Justice Democrats, follow recent efforts by the DCCC to hide internal conflicts between the progressive and moderate wings of the party. "The Democratic Party has attacked progressive leaders in Congress for 'making the party look bad,'" one of the ads says. "However, just this week, multiple members of the DCCC leadership have resigned over issues of diversity within the DCCC's ranks."
The ad is referring to the forced resignation on Monday of DCCC executive director Allison Jaslow, a white, gay veteran who had once been deployed to Iraq. Five other staffers eventually suffered the same fate, mainly due to demands from two Hispanic Texas congressmen who wanted a "person of color" to be made executive director. The fallout came after reporting from the Washington Free Beacon revealed homophobic and racially charged tweets from a newly hired staffer for minority outreach, Tayhlor Coleman, who is black. For example, one of those tweets read, "The vending machine at my center only has Mexican snacks and bebidas. I'm hungry but I'm concerned about safety." Coleman was not forced out.
After the Free Beacon's report, DCCC Chairwoman Rep. Cheri Bustos (D., Ill.) assured some in her caucus that Coleman was soon to be reassigned, but a follow-up report by Politico contradicted those claims. "Anyone seeking to divide our party and stoke infighting between Democrats at a time when Donald Trump is in the White House is undermining our ability to protect the majority," In early July, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) appealed to all Democrats to smooth out their differences behind closed doors and not through social media, an exhortation widely believed to be aimed at "Squad" members such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.). DCCC spokesman Jared Smith was quoted as saying in the Politico article.
Justice Democrats has been waging war with the DCCC over a decision earlier this year, also by Bustos, to blacklist any vendor who did business with a Democratic candidate who was challenging an incumbent in the primary. Such a policy could have hampered or ruined the now-famous primary challenge from Ocasio-Cortez, in which she upset Joe Crowley, an incumbent and member of Democratic House leadership. "Even if the DCCC reforms to have more diversity in its ranks, it won't mean much as they continue to use the DCCC blacklist, which disproportionately harms young progressives and candidates of color from challenging out-of-touch incumbents," the ad said. "The DCCC won't fight for new leadership in the party, so we will. Chip in to help elect leaders for the future."
The ad buys were smaller than most Facebook campaigns by the PAC, indicating the ads could be market-testing the message. The ads were also launched one day before the news broke that both the chief of staff and communications director for Ocasio-Cortez would be resigning their posts within her congressional office. The disagreement between the two groups isn't limited to social media feuds or Facebook fundraising. The Justice Democrats website shows the PAC is supporting four challengers to incumbent house Democrats in the 2020 cycle, and is also backing a candidate running for the Democratic nomination to challenge Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine. Requests for comment to Justice Democrats and the DCCC were not returned.

Mulvaney says Nadler pushing Trump impeachment to avoid losing to 'the next AOC'
Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney reacted to the aftermath of Robert Mueller's testimony and a new push for investigating President Trump by claiming it is simply House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., trying to keep his job.
Nadler is facing a primary challenge from Lindsey Boylan, a progressive candidate looking to do to him what Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., did to House veteran Joe Crowley. Boylan has called for Trump's impeachment, and Mulvaney thinks Nadler is now doing the same in an effort to stave off the threat from the left.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez challenger once supported Obama
A 38-year-old Queens woman seeking the GOP line to run against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is under fire from fellow Republicans for previously praising the Democratic socialist superstar as well as voting for Barack Obama for president. Scherie Murray, a Jamaican-born woman who grew up in Queens and founded a TV production and advertising company, told The Post she voted for Obama, a Democrat, in both the 2008 and 2012 elections. She said it was because "as a young African American woman" she "was inspired by the first African American president's message of change."
Murray also crossed party lines in June 2018 to hail Ocasio-Cortez on social media after the eventual congresswoman upset 10-term incumbent and longtime Queens power broker Joe Crowley in a primary. "Congratulations Alexandria," she then tweeted. "#Queens is headed in a new direction and It's time for new leadership. #Yes." Now, a little over a year later, she's vying for Ocasio-Cortez's seat representing the state's 14th District that encompasses parts of Queens and the Bronx. While kicking off her campaign on Wednesday, Murray even released a scathing video accusing the left-wing media darling of "self-promotion over service."
Some Republican pols say Murray would be a poor choice considering she's a former Democrat who currently lives outside the district in Laurelton, Queens, switched parties a decade ago and has a history of backing Democrats. "AOC is a socialist carpetbagger and since Scherie Murray voted for Obama, praised AOC after she won and doesn't live in the district, it seems like they are two peas in a pod," said Elizabeth English, a Republican district leader in the Bronx. "How can Republicans trust either of them? We deserve better." However, Murray says she's a loyal Republican who plans on backing Donald Trump for re-election to the White House.
"I voted for President Trump in 2016 and support him today," she said. "He's delivered on his promises." She also said she was once "hopeful" for the future of the 14th District after Ocasio-Cortez defeated Crowley - but no more. "She took on a political machine and won," Murray said. "I was happy Joe Crowley lost, but since then I have been disappointed and disheartened... She's only been focused on her own celebrity and a politics of division and hate. "That's why I'm running for Congress. I'm not another ideologue who is focused on tweets and socialist agendas. I want to unite the fight to help people build bridges to a better life and live their own American dream." Murray also said she plans to move into the district if she wins the congressional seat, as is required by law.
She joins four other Republicans - former cop John Cummings, journalist Ruth Papazian, construction contractor Miguel Hernandez and businessman Antoine Tucker - who have filed to run for the seat. So far, no Democrats have announced a primary challenge to Ocasio-Cortez.
Said GOP candidate Ruth Papazian, "It's great more women are entering politics, especially on the Republican side, but I care more about a candidate's policies than about gender or race. "I could never send Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a congratulatory tweet. My community has no doubt about where I stand: Ocasio-Cortez is a media darling whose socialist policies would bankrupt the middle class. I am running to give people in my district a voice in Congress again. I am from here, for here."

Murray's tweet to AOC was about her defeating Joe Crowley in the primaries, a high ranking establishment Democrat, than support for AOC. As Pelosi put it, a glass of water running as a Dem would win that district. The defeat of Joe was more a repudiation of the old guard than it was a vote for radical socialism. I don't think Murray's a RINO, but rather a republican in a very liberal district that may lean closer to the center.

Then there are their statements.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY)
From the start, "AOC" used race in her campaign for Congress. As Politico noted in 2018, she challenged incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY), who is white, on "ideological, generational and racial grounds, arguing that the 10-term congressman was not in step with his majority-minority district and was too cozy with corporate donors."
AOC also has a record of controversial statements about Israel. She claimed, for example, that Israel had committed a "massacre" of Palestinian protesters at the border fence last year. The vast majority were actually members of Hamas, a terrorist organizations that was using the fake "protest" to launch infiltrations and violent attacks against Israel.
In recent weeks, AOC has shown even greater insensitivity to the Jewish community by comparing migrant facilities at the U.S.-Mexico border to "concentration camps." Attorney Alan Dershowitz, a Democrat and Hillary Clinton supporter, called her claims a form of Holocaust denial. Despite criticism from the U.S. Holocaust Museum, Israel's Yad Vashem, and others, AOC refused to apologize and rejected an invitation to visit actual concentration camp sites.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN)
Omar has a long history of anti-Israel statements that have included antisemitic themes, such as suggesting that Jews control the world. In 2012, she tweeted: "Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel." Local Jewish community leaders in Minnesota staged an intervention before she took up her seat in Congress - to no avail; she continued making offensive anti-Israel and antisemitic statements.
In February, Omar tweeted, "It's all about the Benjamins baby," suggesting (falsely) that a pro-Israel group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), bribed members of Congress to support Israel. The implication was that Jews were using money to control Congress. Omar apologized for that tweet, but went on, a few weeks later, to claim that pro-Israel members of Congress owed "allegiance to a foreign country." The chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, a fellow Democrat, called her statement a "vile antisemitic slur," but she refused to apologize.
In an effort to tamp down the controversy, House Democrats passed a resolution condemning antisemitism - but only among other forms of hatred, and without mentioning Omar specifically. After the resolution passed, Omar took a victory lap, claiming (falsely) that it marked the first time Congress had condemned anti-Muslim prejudice.
More recently, Omar has supported AOC's inflammatory claim that the migrant facilities are "concentration camps."
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI)
Tlaib believes that the State of Israel has no right to exist and should be dismantled - a stance that lost her the support of the far-left J Street organization, which likes to maintain the pretense of support for a two-state solution.
In January, Tlaib posted an antisemitic tweet, declaring that members of Congress who supported Israel "forgot what country they represent." The American Jewish Committee accused her of using an antisemitic claim of "dual loyalty."
In February, Tlaib called Housing and Urban Development official Lynne Patton, a black woman, a "prop" for appearing in the gallery during a hearing where members of Congress were debating whether Trump was racist.
In May, Tlaib made the bizarre statement that she felt "a calming feeling ... when I think of the Holocaust." She explained by making the false claim that Palestinians had offered Jews a "safe haven" from the Holocaust.
Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA)
On Sunday, just hours after the president posted his congressional tweets, Pressley told left-wing bloggers at Netroots Nation: "We don't need any more black faces that don't want to be a black voice." She appeared to assume that the only legitimate "black voice" was leftist; black Americans with other views were legitimate targets of racial attack.
Pressley's bio on her official House of Representatives website - not a personal or campaign page - implies that a white person cannot represent her congressional district: "The Massachusetts 7th is the most diverse and most unequal district in the state, requiring a representative whose experiences are reflective of the people," it says.

Ocasio-Cortez Responds to Report Trump Compared Her to Evita by Quoting Eva Perón
President Donald Trump reportedly said that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reminded him of Eva Perón, popularly known as Evita. And Ocasio-Cortez didn´t seem to mind the comparison very much, using the opportunity to tweet out two famous quotes attributed to the former Argentine first lady.
Trump made the comparison during an interview for the book American Carnage: On the Front Lines of the Republican Civil War and the Rise of President Trump by Politico's Tim Alberta. The book is scheduled to be published July 16 but the Guardian obtained a copy and published some excerpts in which Trump claims he first noticed Ocasio-Cortez during the 2018 primary race against incumbent Joe Crowley. Trump was allegedly watching television with advisers when the young politician caught his eye.
"I see a young woman," he says, "ranting and raving like a lunatic on a street corner, and I said: 'That's interesting, go back.'" Trump then "became enamored" and "starstruck" by Ocasio-Cortez, according to Alberta. "I called her Eva Perón," Trump says. "I said, 'That's Eva Perón. That's Evita." When Ocasio-Cortez won the primary, Trump saw it as an example of how he is "good at talent" because he "spotted talent." When speaking to Alberta, Trump tempered that praise, noting that while "she's got talent" she also "doesn't know anything. She's got a good sense, an 'it' factor, which is pretty good, but she knows nothing."
Ocasio-Cortez linked to a story about the report and wrote a quote that she attributed to the former first lady: "I know that, like every woman of the people, I have more strength than I appear to have." She quickly followed that up with another quote: "I had watched for many years and seen how a few rich families held much of Argentina's wealth and power in their hands. So the government brought in an eight-hour working day, sickness pay and fair wages to give poor workers a fair go."
Trump has been public about his love of the Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical Evita about the former first lady. In his 2004 book, Trump said that it was his "favorite Broadway show," claiming he had seen it six times. Eva Perón, whose full name was María Eva Duarte de Perón, was the wife of Juan Domingo Perón and she was first lady from 1946 until she died in 1952 at the age of 33.

Swamp Report: 430 Former Members of Congress Are Lobbyists, Government Influencers
Former politicians regularly monetize their experience and contacts by becoming lobbyists, consultants, and joining other endeavors to influence government activities.
Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute and senior contributor at Breitbart News, explained the ubiquity of this phenomenon in episode three of his eponymous investigative video series.
In the latest edition of The Drill Down With Peter Schweizer, published at RealClearInvestigations on Wednesday, Schweizer highlights the following figures:
430 former politicians - both congressmen and senators - are now being paid to help shape government policies as lobbyists, consultants, and in other capacities.
60 percent - nearly two-thirds - of the 44 members who took new jobs after leaving Congress in 2019 now work in lobbying, consulting, or otherwise influencing government activities.
"Who says bipartisanship is dead in Washington?" jokingly asked Schweizer while highlighting former politicians of both parties who now "work to help special interests navigate the corridors of power in Washington."
Featured examples of the "revolving door" phenomenon used by Schweizer to illustrate his thesis include former Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) and Reps. Joe Crowley (D-NY), Lynn Jenkins (R-KS), Billy Tauzin (R-LA), and Anthony Weiner (D-NY).
Former Senate Majority Leaders Tom Daschle (D-SD) and Trent Lott (R-MS) are also highlighted in Schweizer's video report, including former Sen. John Breaux (D-LA).
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) have expressed interest in working together on legislation to prohibit former members of Congress from becoming lobbyists.
Schweizer explained the status quo of legal restrictions on former representatives and senators becoming lobbyists: "Currently, the law requires, simply, a 'cooling off period,' where a representative cannot register as a lobbyist for one year after leaving office, and if you're a senator it's for two years. But after that year is up, things heat up for former members of Congress. And quickly."

Where in the world does Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez live?
She may be America's most famous freshman congresswoman, but in New York, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a virtual ghost.
She has no district office and no local phone number, unlike the state's three other freshman members.
And it's unclear whether the 29-year-old lawmaker, who represents the Bronx and Queens, actually still lives in the Parkchester neighborhood that has been so closely tied to her rise - even though she won her upset victory over fellow Democrat Rep. Joe Crowley with accusations that his home in Virginia made him too Washington-focused to serve his district.
Ocasio-Cortez has used her deceased father's Bronx condo on her voter registration since 2012, and even posed in the one-bedroom Bronx flat for celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz in a Vogue magazine profile after her stunning November election. But The Post could find little indication she continues to live there.
The Post emailed Ocasio-Cortez's spokesman, Corbin Trent, four times with specific questions - which were all ignored. On Saturday, The Post reached Corbin by phone.
"We will not be commenting," he said. Among the queries he refused to answer: Where does the congresswoman live?
On Saturday night, a staffer promised a Post reporter that Ocasio-Cortez would talk to him after a speaking event in Corona.
During the event, two staffers were seen reading an early edition of this story on their phones.
"Come downstairs, I have to take a picture quick," the congresswoman then told the reporter after the event, instructing him to wait for her. Twenty minutes later, she ducked out a back door, jumped into a chauffeured SUV, and zoomed off.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been praised in the liberal press for her "transparency," particularly on social media.
Just don't be transparent about her - at least if you worked for her campaign - or you might be hearing from her lawyers.
According to the New York Post, one of the New York Democrat's former campaign aides is currently feeling the wrath of the AOC legal team after publishing an account of his time working for the liberal freshman congresswoman.
"Ocasio-Cortez's legal counsel sent a cease and desist letter to Latino activist Ramon Ramirez for his self-published memoir titled 'Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: The Democrats' Surprise,'" the Post reported Monday.
The last word of Ramirez's title has apparently taken on new meaning for him, if his reaction is anything to judge by.
"I'm surprised," Ramirez said.
"I didn't say anything against her. I never said anything against her agenda."
Well, no. However, it's worth noting that the Democrats' surprise - and thusly, AOC's wrath - may be that Ramirez decided to paint Ocasio-Cortez's victory over now-former Rep. Joe Crowley in the Democratic primary in explicitly racial terms.
"We stripped the Celtic king of a crown that he had received without political or community merit," Ramirez wrote in the book.

Of Crowley's 6-feet, 4-inch height, Ramirez wrote in a draft manuscript that it was "unfortunately proportional to the despotic and solemn air with which he demanded to be revered like the 'Celtic king.'"
-According to Crowley's congressional biography, Crowley's father was a New York City police detective, his mother was an Irish immigrant.
-Ramirez's book also outlined a bit of dirty trickery from the Ocasio-Cortez : "Ramirez details how he and a fellow official of the Pan-American Democratic Association of Queens, William Salgado, worked with Ocasio-Cortez to circumvent Crowley's refusal to debate the challenger by scheduling a bilingual June 11 showdown at the Jackson Heights Jewish Center - without informing Crowley's camp," the Post reported back in March.
-"Ramirez says he had fliers printed and posted before notifying the opposition, which complained of a scheduling conflict and offered to send a surrogate in Crowley's place.
-Ramirez also dedicated a significant portion of the book to touting Ocasio-Cortez's socialist bona fides - he himself is an avowed socialist who brags of studying in Russia - which may perhaps have been another sore point.

Poll: AOC disliked, distrusted, unwanted in her own NY district
She's a star on the national political stage, but Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is viewed skeptically back in her Queens and Bronx 14th Congressional District, according to a new door-to-door survey. It found that she has a low 21% favorability rating, that just 11% believe she has their best interests in mind, and that only 13% would vote to reelect her. The survey of registered voters was conducted by the political action committee targeting her with a Federal Election Commission complaint, Stop The AOC PAC.
A previous survey by the group found that residents were upset with the lawmaker's opposition to bringing an Amazon headquarters to the district. In part due to Ocasio-Cortez's complaints, Amazon backed out of moving to her district. The congresswoman and the Stop the AOC PAC have tussled for weeks, especially after the group's founder, Washington attorney Dan Backer, filed an FEC complaint against her campaign. Backer said that he has "a particularly strong dislike" for Ocasio-Cortez's leftist politics and wanted to test the district to see if she is vulnerable to a primary or general election challenge. In 2018, she upset the Democratic establishment by defeating House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley in the primary.
She has since become a media star and leader of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. But in her district the survey conducted by Mobilize the Message for the opposition group found weak support for the congresswoman. The key findings:
42% are unfamiliar with AOC.
51% have an unfavorable view of her.
33% are ready to vote against her, and only 13% would vote for her.
"Facing an electorate more concerned with results than retweets, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez has problems in her backyard. Despite her online notoriety and fandom in the national new progressive movement, the citizens of New York District 14 want a representative aligned with their values," said the survey analysis. Backer said that he hopes potential opponents act on his survey results and take on Ocasio-Cortez. "She does not have a strong constituency outside her core support group," he said.

Denver council member wins with promise to impose communism 'by any means necessary'
Candi CdeBaca won a runoff race last week against former Denver city council president Albus Brooks, and she did it by promising to implement communist policies "by any means necessary."
CdeBaca was among three candidates that unseated incumbents in the Tuesday runoff, preliminary results show, and she's already drawing comparisons to Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the 29-year-old who unseated 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley in New York's 14th congressional district in 2018.
"It's historic," said Carlos Valverde, state director for Colorado Working Families, a political activist group that supported CdeBaca. "It is in the vein of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. ... A victory that really demonstrates people power over money power."
CdeBaca defeated Brooks 52.4 percent to 47.6 percent, though military and overseas ballots are still being counted.
The upset victory, and two other incumbent defeats, marks the most significant shift in city leadership in over 30 years, and Valverde contends it "began a movement" toward more progressive policies once the new members are sworn in this week, The Denver Channel reports.
CdeBaca thanked her supporters on Facebook, where she claimed her secret to success was simply keeping it "real."
"The Eastside taught me really early what 'real' really means. Don't talk about it, BE about it. I knew in my heart if community who knew this principle still existed in the Eastside, they would see me and recognize real," she wrote. "If they didn't I was cool with it too because I wanted to serve those who understand this principle. They are here, they showed up, they recognized real."
In April, Jonathan Woodley posted a video of CdeBaca during a "Denver Decides" candidate forum as she explained to voters exactly what she's all about, and why she plans to implement communism at every opportunity.
"I don't believe our current economic system actually works. Um, capitalism by design is extractive and in order to generate profit in a capitalist system, something has to be exploited, that's land, labor or resources," CdeBaca alleged.
"And I think that we're in late phase capitalism and we know it doesn't work and we have to move into something new, and I believe in community ownership of land, labor, resources and distribution of those resources," she continued. "And whatever that morphs into is I think what will serve community the best and I'm excited to usher it in by any means necessary."
By Any Means Necessary also happens to be a radical "anti-fascist" group known for instigating violent confrontations with Trump supporters and patriots across the country, including the deadly melee at a Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017.
The Cambridge Dictionary defines communism as "an economic system based on public ownership of property and control of the methods of production, and in which no person profits from the work of others."
It's a natural progression of socialism, which is becoming increasingly fashionable in American politics.
A Harris poll conducted for Axios on HBO published Sunday found 55 percent of American women between the ages of 18 and 54 would prefer to live in a socialist country like Venezuela than the U.S. More broadly, the four in 10 Americans said the same.

Mystery Donor "Worth Over $200 Million" Wants To See Ocasio-Cortez Defeated Next Election
A wealthy donor "worth over $200 million" wants to make sure Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez loses her next election, according to the New York Post, citing Bronx Republican chairman Mike Rendino.
"There's definitely national energy and money on this race," Rendino told the Post, adding that the mystery donor has "connections to raise money in Manhattan."
The Democratic Socialist, who was elected after convincing voters she was a blue-collar "girl from the Bronx" despite growing up in one of the wealthiest enclaves on the East Coast, already faces challenges from one contender; Egyptian-American medical journalist Ruth Papazian - while a former cop-turned-high school civics teacher and a conservative talk radio producer may toss their hats in the ring as well.
The three potential contenders agree on one thing: They believe Ocasio-Cortez has neglected her district, which encompasses a northeast section of the Bronx including Throgs Neck and Parkchester and a northwest portion of Queens including Jackson Heights and College Point.
It took the congresswoman two months to open a district office in Queens.
"She completely ignores the people in this district," medical writer Ruth Papazian, 61, told The Post during an interview at the homestyle Italian eatery Patricia's of Morris Park. -New York Post
Papazian lives several blocks away from Morris Park with her 85-year-old mother in the same apartment she grew up in following the family's emigration from Egypt in 1956.
"I've lived here my whole life. I know the heart and soul of this community. The people here have scratched and clawed their way into the middle class, and they're not about to be impoverished with the high taxes it will take to make the Green New Deal and Medicare for all," said Papazian - referring to two of Ocasio-Cortez's policy goals.
According to former Gov. Pataki deputy, Tom Doherty, a Republican challenger to Ocasio-Cortez would have no problem trying to "raise real national money."
"We need to put individuals forward and make the incumbent work for re-election," said Doherty.
Papazian has met with former Trump campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, at a Lincoln Day dinner in Queens, where a source told the Post: "He was encouraging and offered to be helpful when Ruth has demonstrated that she can raise enough money for a serious race."
AOC won the 14th Congressional District with over 78% of the vote, while Hillary Clinton had 57% in 2016, however a recent Siena College Poll found that while 52% of AOC's constituents view her favorably, just 33% backed her opposition to Amazon bringing a second headquarters to Queens, and just 41% support her Green New Deal.
"She's only interested in a national platform, and we need local representation," says former NYPD Officer John Cummings. The 58-year-old who now teaches US government at St. Raymond High School for Boys in Parkchester is considering a run against the Democratic Socialist. Cummings acknowledges that "it's a difficult road because this is a heavily Democratic district."
Her other potential challenger - Mark Levin producer Rich Valdes joked that Ocasio-Cortez's initials could stand for "ambition over constituents." The 40-year-old launched an exploratory committee in February, meeting with Republican clubs in the Bronx and Queens.
"They're really, really kind of discouraged at the fact that she was elected on this platform of representing the district because she ran against [former Rep. Joe] Crowley, positing him as being no-show, and she'd turned out to be very much the same way a no-show person," said Valdes.

Report: The Man AOC Defeated in the Primary Had Potentially Game-Changing Dirt on Her
We've all made decisions that we'd like to take back. Whether it's saying the wrong thing or making a bad purchase, it would be nice if life had a "do-over" button sometimes.
It's a safe bet that many New Yorkers wish they could take back Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The youngest member of Congress and open socialist was hailed by many as the new face of liberalism, but her time in office has so far been a dud.
The 29-year-old former bartender angered countless New York residents after she crusaded against Amazon's headquarters expansion plans in the state, which would have brought tens of thousands of jobs. Ocasio-Cortez stepped on so many toes that citizens paid for a Times Square billboard to call her out....
But all of those headaches could have been completely avoided last year. A new report from the New York Post suggests that the frequently clueless congresswoman might have been stopped before she even won the primary, but her opponent just didn't see her as a serious threat.
"An overconfident Joe Crowley opted against using negative ammunition against Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez because he believed that he had the Democratic primary locked up," the newspaper reported on Monday.
"Crowley had plenty of fodder he could've used against Ocasio-Cortez, but his top New York campaign operatives decided to take the punches and not hit back," Jake Sherman and Anna Palmer of Politico wrote in their latest book.
It wasn't just that Crowley didn't want to go dirty; he thought it would be a sign of weakness in D.C. if he was seen in a tight race against Ocasio-Cortez," the pundits wrote. "He was supposed to be the next Democratic leader, not someone who had to fight for reelection."
So just what ammunition did Crowley have against Ocasio-Cortez? For starters, it looks like he knew that the inexperienced newcomer may have dodged campaign finance laws by allegedly funneling money to avoid scrutiny.
"The conservative National Legal and Policy Center filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission last month charging that Ocasio-Cortez's team used two affiliated political action committees to funnel hundreds of thousands of dollars into a limited-liability company to evade campaign finance laws," explained the POST.

Crowley also reportedly had evidence that Ocasio-Cortez was being supported by Hiram Monserrate, a disgraced New York politician who was expelled from the New York State Senate in 2010 after assaulting his then-girlfriend. He later served 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to stealing government funds for his campaigns.
Crowley's campaign tied Ocasio-Cortez to Monserrate after she appeared at his political club, East Elmhurst Corona Democrats.
During a debate between Crowley and Ocasio-Cortez last summer, Crowley questioned Ocasio-Cortez why she was seeking Monserrate's support
It is truly shocking that Ms. Ocasio-Cortez spoke at Hiram Monserrate's political club while campaigning and was selected to be honored by him at a political fundraiser. That she continues to defend her decision to appear alongside a man who physically assaulted his partner shows a profound lack of judgment,"

AOC Revolts, Launches Coup Against Nancy Pelosi
Nancy Pelosi rules her caucus with an iron fist. She gets away with it for one reason - she raises a ton of money and hands it out liberally.
She is rich, her husband and family are rich, and her friends are rich. If you want her money you have to get in line.
In House races, a little money goes a long way too. Pelosi has multiple devices she uses to raise and disburse funds to keep people in line.
Enter AOC... who just went after Pelosi's cash cow and thus her power center in what all consider a silent coup.
From Vox:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), the first-term progressive superstar, took to Twitter last week and told her nearly 3.8 million followers to "pause" their donations to House Democrats' official campaign arm - the organization charged with keeping Democrats in the House majority.
"Give directly to swing candidates instead," she tweeted, sharing the campaign websites of several of her vulnerable Democratic colleagues, who just won in previously Republican-controlled districts.
The controversy comes down to something the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has always done informally: prioritize incumbent Democrats.
But last week, the organization put it in writing, publishing its criteria for determining which political vendors - like direct mail companies, advertising firms, or political consultants - it will do business with in 2020. And it made clear that won't include vendors that work with candidates challenging incumbent Democrats.
The official policy change sparked outrage among House progressives, several of whom found their way to Congress by doing exactly what the DCCC appears to be discouraging: challenging sitting Democrats.
Ocasio-Cortez is one extremely notable example. She beat out Joe Crowley, a New York Democratic Party boss who had even been tapped as a possible successor to Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Another is Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), who beat out Boston Democrat Mike Capuano.
Both Pressley and Ocasio-Cortez, with the support of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, called the DCCC's decision a "divisive" policy and an effort to "blacklist" groups.
The DCCC has pushed back on the term "blacklist." There is no active list of Democratic political vendors that are banned from the DCCC right now, and this has always been the unspoken policy, one Democratic Party aide familiar with the guidelines told Vox.
But progressive House members are calling out what they see as an exclusionary policy that could cut off important coalitions within the party.

AOC rallies against DCCC 'blacklist' that has left-wing Democrats in uproar
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., spoke out Saturday against a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee plan to help incumbents fight off challengers in the Democratic primary.
"The @DCCC's new rule to blacklist+boycott anyone who does business w/ primary challengers is extremely divisive & harmful to the party," Ocasio-Cortez said on Twitter. "My recommendation, if you're a small-dollar donor: pause your donations to DCCC & give directly to swing candidates instead."
Ocasio-Cortez was elected last fall as part of a Democratic freshman class which included the most women ever in Congress and many progressive representatives. She defeated longtime Rep. Joe Crowley, who was chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, in their primary. The new policy from the campaign arm for House Democrats targets primary challengers' ability to raise funds and build up their campaign organization, saying specifically that their "core mission" is to protect incumbents. "[T]he DCCC will not conduct business with, nor recommend to any of its targeted campaigns, any consultant that works with an opponent of a sitting Member of the House Democratic Caucus," the DCCC said in their statement on the policy. A number of left-wing Democrats are dismayed by the policy, including Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., the vice chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, who called it "totally tone-deaf to the grassroots activists across our nation."
Rep. Ayanna Pressley D-Mass., who also ran as a progressive challenger against an establishment candidate, also spoke out against the DCCC's new rule in a long Twitter thread.
"If the DCCC enacts this policy to blacklist vendors who work with challengers, we risk undermining an entire universe of potential candidates and vendors - especially women and people of color - whose ideas, energy, and innovation need a place in our party," Pressley said. "So, let me be clear: I believe fiercely in the potential of our party, but we cannot credibly lay claim to prioritizing diversity & inclusion when institutions like the DCCC implement policies that threaten to silence new voices and historically marginalized communities," she added.
The fight over the new DCC policy is the latest example of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and the Democratic establishment struggling to get a handle on the members and demands of the young, progressive wing of her party. Other recent clashes have centered on the Green New Deal from Ocasio-Cortez and talk of impeaching President Trump.

OCASIO-CORTEZ QUIETLY REMOVED FROM BOARD OF PAC SHE AND TOP AIDE CONTROLLED
Democratic Rep. Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez and her top aide are no longer board members of the outside PAC credited with orchestrating her political rise, according to a corporate document filed Friday to a Washington, D.C., agency.
The New York Democrat and her chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, who served as her campaign chair, joined the board of Justice Democrats in December 2017, according to the political action committee's website. It also said the two held "legal control over the entity" at the same time it was playing a key role in supporting Ocasio-Cortez's campaign prior to her shock victory over incumbent Democratic Rep. Joe Crowley in June 2018.
Attorneys for Ocasio-Cortez said she was removed from Justice Democrats' board in June 2018, but she was listed an "entity governor" of the PAC as recently as March 14, according to corporate filings, The Daily Caller News Foundation previously reported. (RELATED: Ocasio-Cortez Has Ties To A Dark Money Group)
Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti were officially removed from Justice Democrats' board on March 15, according to a corporate document filed that day to the Washington, D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.
It's unclear why it took Justice Democrats more than eight months to formally remove Ocasio-Cortez from its board. The PAC did not respond to a request for comment.
Ocasio-Cortez never disclosed to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) that she and Chakrabarti controlled Justice Democrats while it simultaneously supported her primary campaign.
Alexandra Rojas and Demond Drummer replaced Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti on Justice Democrats' board. Both have close ties to the congresswoman.

Here is my dig on AOC. She is a Cum Laude graduate of Boston University with degrees in International Relations and Economics.
You will find her name on page 21 of the commencement below:
https://www.bu.edu/commencement/files/2012/12/2011Redbook.pdf
Even more mind-boggling is that there is evidence that she is "science smart" so the college graduate degree may actually be legit. She won second place in microbiology at her high school science fair with a project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans. See attached picture and sauce below.

Then, she manages to win the Democratic Party's primary election by defeating a TEN-term incumbent Congressman, Joe Crowley. She goes on to beat Republican opponent Anthony Pappas in the November 6, 2018, general election, and at age 29, became the youngest woman ever to serve in the United States Congress. Oh, and let's not forget her multimillionaire and Harvard graduate chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti.
YET, she can't find her way out of a paper bag.
This doesn't reconcile.
The recent claims that OAC and her CoS had misappropriated $1M in campaign funding just struck me as odd timing. Why now? Why more spotlight her?
Is she really as stupid as she projects herself?
Or are we all being played BIG TIME?

THERE'S ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO JUSTIFY A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION INTO OCASIO-CORTEZ, FORMER FEC COMMISSIONER SAYS
Former FEC Commissioner Hans von Spakovsky called for an investigation into alleged campaign finance violations by Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her top aide.
"There seems to be enough evidence here to justify opening a criminal investigation," von Spakovsky wrote in a Fox News op-ed Sunday.

A former member of the Federal Election Commission (FEC) called for an investigation Sunday into alleged campaign finance violations by Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her top aide Saikat Chakrabarti.
Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti have, since December 2017, held legal authority over Justice Democrats, the outside PAC credited with orchestrating her upset primary victory over incumbent Democratic New York Rep. Joe Crowley in June 2018, The Daily Caller News Foundation reported last week.
The conservative National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) also filed an FEC complaint last week, first reported by the Washington Examiner, alleging that Justice Democrats and Brand New Congress, another PAC controlled by Chakrabarti, funneled $1 million into two private companies under his control during the 2018 midterms.
"As a former FEC commissioner who has studied the complaint against Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti, I have concluded that there is unquestionably more than enough evidence to justify the FEC opening a civil investigation," Hans von Spakovsky, now a Heritage Foundation senior legal fellow, wrote in a Fox News op-ed Sunday.

If the FEC finds that her campaign and the political action committee were operating in affiliation, it could result in her campaign receiving excessive contributions, former FEC commissioner Brad Smith told TheDCNF. "If someone gave Ocasio-Cortez a $2,700 contribution and then gave another contribution to either of the other two PACS that Ocasio-Cortez and/or Chakrabarti were running, her campaign violated federal law by receiving and keeping a contribution above the legal limit," von Spakovsky explained.
Ocasio-Cortez called the NLPC's complaint a "conspiracy theory" propagated by conservative groups looking to receive airtime on Fox News. However, she hasn't addressed TheDCNF's reporting surrounding her and Chakrabarti's "legal control over" Justice Democrats starting in December 2017. The two continue to serve as "governors" of Justice Democrats, according to the PAC's business filings in Washington D.C.
CNN, ABC News, NBC News and The Washington Post also didn't disclose the facts surrounding Ocasio-Cortez's control over Justice Democrats in stories about the freshman Democrat's mounting campaign finance scandals. Von Spakovsky said Chakrabarti's use of two LLCs under his control to fund "campaign infrastructure and fundraising" services for his PACs and 12 political candidates, including Ocasio-Cortez, runs counter to Ocasio-Cortez's call for more transparency in government. "Is the New York congresswoman - who claims to be an honest and upstanding crusader for good government and transparency - really a hypocrite who improperly hid her own campaign spending in a complex maze of fundraising groups?" von Spakovsky asked.
Von Spakovsky said he expects the four active FEC commissioners, two Republicans, one Democrat and one independent, will vote in favor of opening an investigation into Ocasio-Cortez "given all the evidence of possible violations of the law that has already been made public." "We don't know what further investigation will find," he said. "But it is clear an investigation is needed to determine if Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti broke the law."

Company founded by Ocasio-Cortez in 2012 still owes $1,870 in taxes
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants to pass sweeping tax hikes on the wealthy, but the freshman lawmaker might want to take care of her own unpaid tax bill first.
Brook Avenue Press, a company she founded in 2012 to publish children's books in The Bronx, owes the state $1,870.36 in corporate taxes, public records show.
The state slapped the company with a warrant on July 6, 2017, two months after Ocasio-Cortez announced her candidacy to run against Democratic incumbent Joe Crowley for the district that encompasses parts of Queens and The Bronx.
The state requires businesses to pay a corporation tax on a sliding scale based on revenue. The minimum payment last year was $25.
"The company probably got numerous letters from the state and probably ignored them," one New York City accountant theorized.
Public records show the state dissolved the company in October 2016, which can happen when a business fails to pay corporate taxes or file a return.

Media Ignores, Mishandles Allegations Of Campaign Finance Violations By Ocasio-Cortez
Media outlets are largely ignoring or mishandling reports that Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff were controlling a PAC at the same time the PAC was working to get her elected.
The Daily Caller News Foundation reported Monday that Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff retained control of the Justice Democrats PAC, which is credited with propelling Ocasio-Cortez to victory, while running to unseat incumbent Democrat Joe Crowley in 2018. Former FEC commissioners told the DCNF that if Ocasio-Cortez's campaign was operating in affiliation with the PAC, the former bartender could be opened up to "massive reporting violations."
The report also noted that Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff did not disclose their control of Justice Democrats to the FEC. Experts say it could be a felony if Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff knowingly and intentionally withheld this information to skirt campaign contribution limits. PACs and campaigns must share a contribution limit when being controlled by the same person or group of persons.
The media has ignored the explosive allegation, instead lumping it in with a complaint to the FEC that Ocasio-Cortez's chief of staff funneled nearly $1 million from PACs he controlled to private LLCs that he also controlled. That complaint was outlined in a report by the Washington Examiner, but is a separate issue from the allegations laid out by the DCNF.
NBC News fact-checked the FEC complaint by the National Legal and Policy Center, reaching the conclusion that there is "no evidence of wrongdoing." However, in their fact check, NBC falsely claimed that the DCNF said Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff could face jail time over the complaint. A former FEC official who spoke to the DCNF suggested they could face jail time over her legal control over the Justice Democrats PAC, not over the separate allegations made by NLPC.
NBC issued a correction on their fact check after an inquiry from an editor at the DCNF, but still did not accurately characterize the DCNF's reporting.

Who REALLY helped Ocasio get elected - Pelosi, DNC or Trump?
Anons, hear me out. There is something fishy about Ocasio's unexplained upset beating Democratic Caucus chair, Joe Crowley who was slated to be the next Speaker of the House and the constant media attention she gets. Here are some facts.
–We call her dumb, but she graduated Cum Laude from Boston University. Economics and International Relations major.
– She took out the 10 term DCC at age 28 and NO ONE saw that coming? Come on! Now Crowley is using his power for lobbying.
– She worked as an intern for Ted Kennedy but was a bartender a year before being elected? Huh? Why would she need to apply at democratic justice UNLESS that was "the plan"? (They would have needed to infiltrate the Dems without raising any red flags)
– Her Republican opponent didn't even show up to the debate to fight a 28 yr old who is pushing a communist agenda? What? When does MAGA not even try?
– Trump tweeted congrats to her on her nomination win. That's a bit interesting, isn't it? Kinda like congratulating Pelosi for her Speaker win - almost as though he knew it would happen.
– And last, I searched all Q posts for AOC, Ocasio, Alexandria and found none - Q usually doesn't post about folks that are not threats or that are part of "the plan".
I think she is a TRUMP/Q plant - I welcome anons to prove me wrong.

…and contributing to the recent train wrecks…
"Our continued organizing and movement-building over the last four years is paying dividends and it appears to be a total transformation of political power at city hall from the bottom up," Ramirez-Rosa told a crowd Tuesday night following his victory.
The DSA is not an official political party but instead a "political and activist organization," said socialist Rosanna Rodríguez-Sánchez, who will face an incumbent in the April run-off.
"Chicago had a way of doing politics and I feel like that died tonight. The city's dinosaurs are done. I'm very very confident that I'm going to win," she told the Sun Times.
The DSA for years has only had one representative on the Chicago City Council, but co-chair Lucie Macías said she is excited to see that change.
"For the third biggest city in the country to have a DSA caucus is amazing and having members around Carlos will only amplify the causes that working-class Chicago - not the rich - wants," Macías said.
DSA members Andre Vazquez and Byron Sigcho-Lopez will also head to run-offs in April for the chance to secure a spot on the city council.
Democratic socialism has gained national prominence in recent years with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) running a close race in the Democratic presidential primary in 2016 and freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) winning an upset over longtime Democratic Rep. Joe Crowley in her New York City district last year. Both Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez are self-described democratic socialists.
There are roughly 60,000 card-carrying members in DSA across the country and 1,300 spread across Chicago's three local chapters, according to the group.

So then Trump is elected and she mounts her "rightous" campaign against an almost 20 year incumbent Congressman out of a brown paper bag. hmmm
In fucking New York?!!! Yea right.
At some point she joins the Justice Democrats. (they were formed the day after Trump was elected so I assume it was
at this point she joined?) Maybe even sooner? hint hint? Im not really sure how much has been dug on this organization, but aside from other digs im working on I think this so called PAC should get the pepe magnifying glass. Not only is she a member but so is the insest Jihad cunt in Minnesota Illhad or whatever her name is. Looks like this PAC successfully "helped" get something like 23 out of 79 candidates elected. wiki has a list of politicians they endorsed and I am at this point assuming they are all members of this organization.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_Democrats#Candidates_for_U.S._Senate
Justice Democrats was founded by these two famefags.
Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk, and Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks. Ive come accross these idiots before and just passed them off as famefags. However Cenk Uyger catches the eye. He used to be a starch conservative religious Republican, then out of the blue (based on my short dig on his ass) he becomes a starch progressive athiest and even winds up with a highly popular progressive talk show. 7 million followers or something. Not to mention he is another god damned lawyer I believe.
They (JD) literally state on their website that they intend to take over the DNC.
https://www.justicedemocrats.com/about
Either this organization really is just an organization trying to stop corporate corruptive political donations. Spurred on by the great socialist Bernie Sanders. Or this is a split off of some kind where (((They))) are trying to establish a new version the same wolf with new sheeps clothing. In order to get their endorsement you cant receive political donations from any large coporation, however in AOC's case, they are willing to overlook donations from JPMorgan Chase. Ive seen discussions about how AOC is one of /ourguys, but she feels like a Manchurian to me.
Out of nowhere these fuckers are populating our Congress pretty successfully. And rapidly right out of the gates too!!
All the people that started and run this org, seem to be about the same age (rather fucking young Id say) and from damn near the same area of New York other than Cenk Uygur which is why he is suspect. Is he the sugar daddy of this little teenage pot party? He had to resign publicly because of some press release about something he wrote, back in the day but yea, he didnt resign.
Think we've seen just the beginning of Justice Democrats.
The DNC owns the most thorough, extensive database of political demographics with a Dbase front end called votebuilder. Im sure many veteran anons are aware of this. But for those who arent and looking for something to do, and need a break from shitposting, Id say Justice Democratcs and votebuilder would be some fun projects. There is much more in Votebuilder than meets the eye ;)
Justice for Democrats feels like a manchurian candidate incubater too me. ((They)) snatched her (AOC) young little ass up and put her ass in Congress as quick
and easy as changing underwear. And against an almost 2 decades long incumbant no doubt. And within their own party??! "Joe Crowley, who was rumored to potentially be the Democrats' next Speaker of House". Maybe they are literally changing their underwear? Only time will tell. We start seeing bags around AOC's eyes, we will likely know.

At some point in my dig last night I wind up coming across a movie called The Adjustment Bureau. So I finished the night off watching that movie.
WOW talk about projection. The main character becomes "the youngest elected Congressman in New York". yea? and the movie is about how this character
accidentally discovers that there are these "beings" that guide people along their path of life according to the "chairmans" "master plan". uhhuh ok.
And so he falls in love with a girl, but ((they)) dont want the two together blah blah blah (insert emotional content), so hes at odds with his "handlers". This movie is a projection of AOC or similar IMHO. Looks like it was released in 2011. Bout the time she was graduating from college.

Q Research General #6851: POTUS Rolls Deep Edition
The Post e-mailed the Ocasio-Cortez' spokesman, Corbin Trent, four times with specific questions - they were all ignored.
Ocasio-Cortez was in New York City last weekend and this weekend, with appearances in Queens on both Saturdays - yet she was not seen coming or going from her Parkchester pad either day. Her apartment's next-door neighbor said she had never seen Ocasio-Cortez. Another neighbor, who has lived down the hall from the congresswoman's apartment for the last 40 years, said he'd never seen her or her boyfriend, Riley Roberts, who has claimed the address as his own since last spring. "I would have remembered," said the neighbor when shown a photograph of Ocasio-Cortez. Workers at Jerry's Pizzeria, less than a block from her building, and at the local grocery store said she had never patronized their businesses - and a server at a nearby taqueria said the congresswoman had only come in to be filmed by news crews. A postal worker who delivers mail to the building said that in the last 10 years he has only seen Ocasio-Cortez intermittently, and that several months' worth of mail regularly accumulates in the mailbox before anyone bothers to collect it. The worker said that Ocasio-Cortez and Roberts were the only ones getting mail at the address. "Just because their names are on the box doesn't mean they live there," he said.
And in 2017, when Ocasio-Cortez first filed paperwork to become a congressional candidate, she didn't even know what district she lived in, mistakenly declaring plans to run for neighboring District 15 before correcting the error days later. Meanwhile, in Washington, Ocasio-Cortez has rented a pad in a luxe building in the chic Navy Yard neighborhood, where studios start at $1,840 a month, according to the Washington Examiner. Her new digs feature gold-plated amenities like a rooftop infinity pool, a cycling studio with a dozen pricey Pelotons, men's and women's saunas, and a golf simulation lounge - but no affordable units for low-income residents, in spite of a local law that requires them, the news site reported.
In the eight months since Ocasio-Cortez's dramatic defeat of the long-serving Crowley in June's Democratic primary - a victory that all but guaranteed a general election win in the heavily Democratic District 14 - the congresswoman has failed to open a local office. Ocasio-Cortez has made four trips to the city since she was inducted to Congress on Jan. 3, according to a Post review of published reports and social media. Those excursions featured five public events in her district - and three high-profile Manhattan appearances, including a Jan. 21 guest slot on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." A district office "makes government immediately responsible and accountable to the citizens," said Jadan Horyn of Reclaim New York, a government watchdog group. "Constituents need to know their representatives are working for them, and not for national prominence."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez moves into a luxury apartment complex that boasts infinity pool, Steinway piano and nearby Whole Foods, but has NO affordable housing units - and sits at the center of a neighborhood 'gentrification' fight
Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has moved into a luxury Washington D.C. apartment building with an infinity pool and a nearby Whole Foods, it was revealed Tuesday.
What it doesn't offer is affordable housing - a platform the self-described socialist campaigned on in her bid to become the youngest female member of Congress.
Ocasio-Cortez makes $174,000 annually with her congressional salary and has used the funds to move into the posh Navy Yard neighborhood in Washington D.C. that, ironically, is also a favorite of President Donald Trump's staffers, the Washington Examiner revealed.
Last year Forbes magazine named the Navy Yard neighborhood one of the 12 coolest in the world.
It's the fast growing area in the nation's capitol and features the Nationals Ball Park; District Winery, the only winery in the city; beer gardens; posh restaurants and expensive workout studios like SolidCore and Pure Barre.
The Yards Park - situated on the banks of the Potomac River - contains a fountain, outdoor concerts, outdoor workout classes, restaurants, and speciality shops.
And the city is building a soccer stadium in the area.
The neighborhood also contains a Whole Foods, which is owned by Amazon, the company Ocasio-Cortez has railed against for its corporate practices.
She celebrated when Amazon announced it would not be building a second headquarters in Queens, New York, near her congressional district.
'Today was the day a group of dedicated, everyday New Yorkers and their neighbors defeated Amazon's corporate greed, its worker exploitation and the power of the richest man in the world,' Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter last week.
But that doesn't mean she doesn't use the company's services.
She was spotted shopping in the Whole Foods in her new D.C. neighborhood on Thursday night, Politico's Playbook reported.
But housing affordability was a major campaign issue for rising Democratic star and helped her defeat Democrat Rep. Joe Crowley in the June primary, a victory that shocked the Democratic establishment.

SPB has a long list of clients that range from major corporations to city governments. Among SPB's most recognizable corporate clients are Amazon, Proctor & Gamble, and UnitedHealth Group.
Amazon recently withdrew its plans to build a second headquarters in New York after drawn out disputes with local New York lawmakers and criticism from politicians including Ocasio-Cortez.
Crowley had previously been considered a possible heir apparent to Nancy Pelosi and the potential next speaker of the House. But a turn of events changed his career when Ocasio-Cortez defeated him in the primary election in 2018. Ocasio-Cortez would then go on to win Crowley's seat and currently serves in Congress.

Gonna throw another couple things out there that may or may not have any relevance:
The incumbent in that seat was Joe Crowley. Anons can decide for themselves his resemblence to another man who had the same last name.
He was considered an heir apparent to Pelosi in the House for the Dems. Here he is giving a speechless speech in 2011.
That district has heavily redistricted in 2012 to skew minority-dominated. Most people talk about the Bronx, but it also includes some of Astoria, Queens.
Astoria is named after the Astor family, one of Springmeier's 13 Satanic Illuminati families. The Astors were heavily into the occult.
Again, may or may not be anything.

SPLC sued by Immigration Watchdog group under RICO's Wire Fraud provision
Immigration group files suit to force Southern Poverty Law Center revoke 'hate' label
[excerpts]
One of the most prominent groups advocating for stricter immigration went to court Wednesday to demand a judge order the Southern Poverty Law Center to stop labeling it a "hate group," accusing the self-described watchdog of running an illegal racket to silence political opponents.
The Center for Immigration Studies says the SPLC's accusations that it is racist and anti-immigrant are wrong and have cost the nonprofit support and financial backing by scaring people away from doing business with the center.
The center brought its challenge to U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by filing a civil complaint under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act against SPLC President Richard Cohen and Heidi Beirich, who runs the group's Hatewatch blog.
Mark Krikorian, the Center for Immigration Studies executive director, says his organization doesn't meet the SPLC's definition of a hate group and the Alabama-based watchdog knows it but persists anyway - which he said was evidence of the racket.
"SPLC and its leaders have every right to oppose our work on immigration, but they do not have the right to label us a hate group and suggest we are racists," he said. "The Center for Immigration Studies is fighting back against the SPLC smear campaign and its attempt to stifle debate through intimidation and name-calling."
…
The center's work is widely cited in the press, including in The Washington Times. It issues awards for press coverage of immigration, including, in the past, to The Times. Its analysts are regularly called to testify before Congress and have been invited to meet with top security officials in the Obama and Trump administrations.
The center's work also is used by independent fact-checkers such as PolitiFact.com, which in 2017 fact-checked the SPLC's hate designation. PolitiFact concluded that most of the evidence was guilt by association.
Those interviews raised the ire of congressional Democrats. Joe Crowley, as House Democratic caucus chairman, fired off a note last year urging the chief of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to cancel an appearance, saying the Center for Immigration Studies spread "abhorrent viewpoints, including white supremacism and anti-Semitism."
Mr. Cohen, in a statement to The Times, said the center "richly deserves the hate group label" and he looked forward to battling the group in court.
The SPLC, in its write-up, said the center made the list in 2016 after circulating a weekly reading list that sometimes linked to "white nationalist and antisemitic writers" and by commissioning work from a former Heritage Foundation employee who the SPLC said had been ousted "for his embrace of racist pseudoscience."
Of Mr. Krikorian, the SPLC says: "While capable of appearing as a sober-minded policy analyst in some settings, longtime CIS executive director Mark Krikorian's contributions to the immigration policy debate rarely rise above petulant commentary dashed with extremist statements."
…
In recent years, the group has become a major player in questions of Muslim rights and the immigration debate, and it has expanded its list of haters to include groups that may have taken politically controversial stands but had not generally been accused of racism.
The more expansive role also has earned it new headaches.
The SPLC last year agreed to pay a $3.4 million settlement to a Muslim activist whom the group in 2016 listed among "anti-Muslim extremists." Mr. Cohen issued a statement in June acknowledging his group botched that one.
The group has been making increasing forays into activism, which can build tension with its more long-standing role as a clearinghouse for information.
…
The center says that has cost it at least $10,000 in donations.
Because it doesn't meet the SPLC's definition of a hate group yet the SPLC uses that label online, the center said, it amounts to wire fraud in violation of RICO.
The center says it wants a judge to award damages and order the SPLC to remove the "hate" label, and it wants the SPLC to affirmatively state on its website "that CIS is not a hate group."
RICO has been used to settle other thorny political clashes, including by the National Organization for Women, which in the 1980s and 1990s filed civil RICO claims against pro-life activists at abortion clinics.
The National Organization for Women said the protesters' actions amounted to extortion and asked for triple damages allowed under RICO. Decades of litigation produced a mixed outcome.

President Signs Bill Aimed at Preventing and Responding to Genocide
On Monday, President Donald Trump signed the Elie Wiesel Genocide and Atrocities Prevention Act of 2018, which is named after Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, who passed away in 2016.
The legislation "directs the Department of State to provide training to Foreign Service officers on preventing and responding to genocide and other atrocities," according to a White House press release.
The legislation drew praise from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. In a statement emailed to the Washington Free Beacon, Naomi Kikoler, deputy director of the Simon-Skjodt Center for the Prevention of Genocide at the museum, called the act "an important step toward developing a bipartisan congressional blueprint for making 'never again' real by taking practical steps to mitigate the systematic persecution of vulnerable groups."
The report noted that genocide and related crimes against humanity are not inevitable and "preventing genocide is a goal that can be achieved with the right organizational structures, strategies, and partnerships-in short, with the right blueprint," the statement continued.
The bill was first introduced in 2017 by Rep. Ann Wagner (R., Mo.) and former Democratic representative Joe Crowley of New York and senators Ben Cardin (D., Md.) and Todd Young (R., Ind.). The legislation finally passed both chambers last month.
The primary goal of the bill is to "help prevent acts of genocide and other atrocity crimes, which threaten national and international security, by enhancing United States Government capacities to prevent, mitigate, and respond to such crises."
Toward this end, the act requires the aforementioned training in conflict prevention for Foreign Service officers. The president will also be required to deliver an annual report to Congress reviewing countries at risk of genocide and detailing efforts by the United States to respond to atrocities.
The legislation outlines steps which are to be taken by the Atrocities Prevention Board, an interagency body established during the administration of President Barack Obama. The board is expected to "monitor developments throughout the world that heighten the risk of atrocities" and "facilitate the development and implementation of policies to enhance the capacity of the United States to prevent and respond to atrocities worldwide." It should also meet at least biannually "with representatives of nongovernmental organizations and civil society dedicated to atrocity prevention and response."
Peter Burns, government relations and policy director at the nonprofit In Defense of Christians, explained to the Free Beacon why his organization supports the act.
"As an organization that works a lot on responding to genocide, we also want to look at how we prevent future genocide.... Anything that can be done to prevent atrocities is something that we support and want to get behind," Burns said.

Ocasio-Cortez Criticized After Failing to Provide Workers' Compensation Coverage
US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, has come under fire after it was revealed that her campaign was fined by the state for not providing workers' compensation coverage for a month last year.
The fine is awkward for Ocasio-Cortez, who took the seat of top Democratic Rep. Joe Crowley with a campaign theme of improving conditions for the working class during the November midterm elections.

Gerry Adams's White House party refusal escalates to top Obama aides
White House chief of staff and Secret Service director brief US congressmen on incident
The controversy around Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams being denied entry to the White House's St Patrick's Day party on Tuesday was yesterday escalated up to President Barack Obama's most senior aide and the US Secret Service director.
Mr Obama's chief of staff, Denis McDonough, told US congressmen Richard Neal and Joe Crowley by telephone yesterday that he was going to ask US secretary of homeland security Jeh Johnson and a representative of the State Department to investigate what happened.
In a separate telephone call with the two Irish-American politicians yesterday, the director of the Secret Service, Joseph Clancy, "apologised profusely" for what had happened to the Sinn Féin leader.
Mr Adams had to wait for 90 minutes outside the annual party over what the Secret Service described as an "administrative input error".
He decided to leave when it became clear the problem would not be resolved. The Secret Service later expressed regret over the incident.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan welcomed the explanation from the agency but criticised Mr Adams for drawing a parallel with civil rights leader Rosa Parks in reacting to the incident.
Rosa Parks
Mr Adams responded by saying that Sinn Féin would "not sit at the back of the bus for anyone", drawing a parallel with Parks's refusal in 1955 to relinquish her seat on a bus for one in a "coloured" section at the back.
During his St Patrick's Day visit to New York, Mr Flanagan said he did not believe the comparison was "appropriate".
Taoiseach Enda Kenny, on a visit to a summit of EU leaders in Brussels, described Parks as "an international icon, a woman of courage and bravery who made a real mark on history for its benefit".
"I'm not going to comment on the difficulties with Deputy Adams getting into the White House, " he said, adding that everyone was "treated the same going into the White House - security is absolutely stringent".
The conversations between the congressmen and the senior Obama aides occurred after they raised concerns about the incident in a letter from 10 members of the Friends of Ireland caucus of congressman.
'A typo'
Mr McDonough told Mr Neal that the incident may have arisen as a result of "a typo" in inputting Mr Adams's personal details. Mr Neal said he and Mr Crowley explained "the political and the security implications" of the incident to Mr Clancy in their call.
The director took full responsibility for what happened and promised it would not happen again, the Massachusetts congressman said.
Mr Neal told The Irish Times about the incident's significance given that the Clinton administration granting of a visa to Mr Adams in 1994 was "one of the critical moments" in the Northern Ireland peace process. "If you are standing outside of the White House and everybody is going past you, the situation is not likely to land well," he said.
Mr Crowley said the Obama administration was aware of the "unintended consequences of this unfortunate event".
"They understand the optics of this and want to avoid anything like this from happening again," said the New York congressman. "It was not intended."

A conspiracy theory is born: US comedian calls Ocasio-Cortez 'a Russian tool'
'Russiagate' seems to have claimed another victim. Comedian Jen Kirkman went into a full meltdown, starting by branding Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a Russian tool and ending with blaming Putin for messing up her life.
Representative-elect Ocasio-Cortez is a rising star of progressive politics, whose way to national prominence began after she defeated veteran congressman Joe Crowley in a Democratic primary. She runs on a progressive platform and wants similarly-minded people to get elected the same way she did - by challenging centrist Democrats and thus shifting the entire party to the left.
According to Kirkman, this is all a secret ploy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who wants to divide the Democratic Party and "take over America." On Sunday, she shared her suspicions about the politician with her 260,000 Twitter followers in a long thread that has since gone viral.

Here Come the 'Justice Democrats'
Just because Democrats did well in the midterm elections doesn't mean that their civil war has ended. In fact, it's only just begun.
A small group of ultra leftists decided to form an organization last year to reform the Democratic Party by pushing a radical socialist agenda and electing like-minded individuals to public office. They call themselves the "Justice Democrats" and they're about to become a thorn in the side to establishment Democrats.
The group received a huge lift with the election to Congress of the high-profile democratic socialist Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. Her chief of staff is going to be Saikat Chakrabarti, a co-founder of Justice Democrats, and both the newly elected congressman and her top aide are threatening to primary incumbent Democrats who don't agree with their agenda and/or are the wrong color.
Politico:
"Long story short, I need you to run for office," Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday on a video conference call hosted by Justice Democrats, as the group launched a campaign dubbed "#OurTime." Justice Democrats supported Ocasio-Cortez's primary campaign against powerful Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.).
"All Americans know money in politics is a huge problem, but unfortunately the way that we fix it is by demanding that our incumbents give it up or by running fierce campaigns ourselves," Ocasio-Cortez added. "That's really what we need to do to save this country. That's just what it is."
The incoming congresswoman's chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, a co-founder of Justice Democrats, was blunter.
"We need new leaders, period," he said on the call. "We gotta primary folks."
Needless to say, this is not the way for a freshman member of Congress to win friends and influence people in the Democratic Party. But in order to "save" the country, heads must roll.
The group said they want Democratic members of Congress to be representative of their diverse communities and support liberal policies like Medicare for all, abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement department, implementing a "Green New Deal," and rejecting corporate PAC donations. On the campaign trail, Ocasio-Cortez talked about forming a "corporate-free caucus" as a means to push for reform. That type of group, if it forms, could turn out to be the left's counterpart to the Freedom Caucus, which pushed Republican leadership to the right.
"I don't think people who are taking money from oil and gas companies should be drafting climate legislation," Ocasio-Cortez said on the call.
I don't think leftist nutcases should be drafting any kind of legislation at all, but that's just me.
I imagine many Democratic elders are a little bemused at this. After all, as a political force, Justice Democrats have just a few backbench congressmen as members, little money, and no national reach.

Ocasio Cortez Launches Far Left "Justice Democrats" - Calls for Overthrow of Incumbent Democrats
Rep-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined a conference call for the newly formed "Justice Democrats" on Saturday.
The radical far left group called on supporters to start planning their campaigns against incumbent Democrats.
The Hill reported:
Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), implored more than 700 attendees of a Justice Democrats strategy call to run for office against incumbent Democrats as well as Republicans in their home districts.
During the video call with supporters Saturday evening, Ocasio-Cortez remarked that her own journey to the House began on the other end of a Justice Democrats strategy call while calling on supporters to mount similar bids in their own districts around the country.
"Long story short, I need you to run for office," she said on the call. "All I'm asking you to do is throw your hat in the ring, say 'what the heck.' "
Ocasio-Cortez was elected Tuesday after running a successful primary against Rep. Joe Crowley, who was House Democratic Caucus Chairman.
The incoming freshman Democrat added that she and other members of the Justice Democrats, a group of progressive Democrats seeking to shift the Democratic Party left, would support challenges to incumbent Democrats they view as insufficiently aligned with the views of progressives in the party, particularly on the issue of corporate campaign donations.

'I can't afford to move to Washington!': Socialist hero Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reveals she needs to cash her first paycheck from $174k House salary next year before she can get a DC apartment

But she is having difficulty making ends meet
Lawmakers make $174,000 a year once they get paid
Says the transition has been 'very unusual' because she isn't getting paid yet
Lawmakers must maintain a residence in their home state and a place in DC
She says she saved money from her restaurant job
Skipping confab for NY pols in Puerto Rico
The most high-profile new Democratic member of Congress is trying to figure out how to afford an apartment in Washington and trying to stretch funds from her restaurant job until January.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, 29, shocked Washington by knocking off powerful Queens Rep. Joe Crowley. Now, as an incoming freshman lawmaker, the democratic socialist has other problems of her own.
The transition period between her election win Tuesday and her swearing-in in January is a problem, and she is no longer drawing a salary.
She told the New York Times that gap will be 'very unusual, because I can't really take a salary. I have three months without a salary before I'm a member of Congress,' she said.
Other elected House members draw pay, but she may have been referring to potential ethics problems of soliciting work after being elected as a member of Congress.
'So, how do I get an apartment?' she wondered. 'Those little things are very real.'
Ocasio-Cortes, who stressed her working class status and upbringing during her unlikely win, said she saved some funds before leaving her restaurant job. But that might not cut it Washington D.C.'s hot real estate and high rent market, which doesn't quite rival New York's but has led some lawmakers to sleep in their offices or even bunk in group houses

"Democratic Socialists of America Membership Surges After Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Stunning Victory"
The ramifications of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's stunning primary defeat of longtime Queens Democratic boss and Congressman Joe Crowley (D-NY) extend well beyond the confines of Capitol Hill.
The 28-year-old member of Democratic Socialists of America-who shockingly won in New York's 14th congressional district on a leftist platform of Medicare for All, abolishing ICE, and a federal jobs guarantee-inspired a major boost in membership for the organization on Wednesday.
According to Lawrence Dreyfuss, a program associate for DSA, the organization saw a surge of 1,152 new memberships on Wednesday-about 35 times more sign-ups than on an average day.
The last major membership bump DSA experienced was in the month following President Trump's election, during which time they had about six times more sign-ups than in the previous month.
DSA has undergone a renaissance of sorts in the Trump era, ballooning in size from some 5,000 members in November 2016 to 40,000 nationwide.
The left-wing group's growth has been attributed in part to broader resistance to the new administration and wider acceptability of the "democratic socialist" label championed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
"The people of NY-14 demanded more from its representative than empty promises and deep pockets," Christian Bowe of DSA's National Political Committee said after Ocasio's win. "We're proud of this victory, and we know this is only one of many more to come."
DSA members themselves had begun winning elections, primarily on the state level, prior to Ocasio-Cortez. Among those who've achieved political success in the past year are Lee Carter, elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in 2017, and Summer Lee and Sara Innamorato, who both defeated long-term incumbent Democrats in Pennsylvania.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Compares Fighting Climate Change to War Against Nazi Germany
Democratic Socialist candidate for the House of Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said in a video that reaching the goal of 100 percent renewable energy to fight climate change requires the same urgency and mobilization in the United States as it did to fight Nazi Germany during World War II.
Calling Nazi Germany the last "existential threat" the United States has faced, Ocasio-Cortez ignored more recent threats, including radical Islam's attack on U.S soil that killed almost 3,000 innocent Americans on September 11, 2001.
"So when we talk about existential threats - the last time we had a really major existential threat in this country was around World War II," Ocasio said in a video filmed at an undated campaign at an unknown location.
"And so we've been here before, so we have a blueprint of doing this before," Ocasio-Cortez said. "None of these things are new ideas."
"What we have is an existential threat in the context of war," Ocasio-Cortez said. "We had a direct existential threat with another nation - this time it was Nazi Germany ... who explicitly named the United States as an enemy."
"And what we did is that we chose to mobilize our entire economy; industrialize our entire economy, and we put hundreds of thousands if not millions of people to work defending our shores and defending this country," Ocasio-Cortez said.
"We have to do the same thing if we're going to get us to 100 percent renewable energy," Ocasio-Cortez said. "And that's just the truth of it."
"It may seem really big. It may seem very ambitious. It may seem very radical," Ocasio-Cortez said.
"But the fact of the matter is we're dealing with a radical truth and a radical reality and the more that we choose to ignore it the worse we are doing for our children and our grandchildren and frankly ourselves," Ocasio-Cortez said.
Ocasio-Cortez, 28, became an instant Democratic Party heroine after unseating party caucus chair Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) in New York's June primary.
Although that victory marks the start of Ocasio-Cortez 's political career, she is not a newcomer to activism, having volunteered for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in his 2016 presidential campaign.

Obama Endorses Socialist Ocasio-Cortez
Former President Barack Obama included support for New York congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a slew of new endorsements for the midterm elections announced Monday.
Ocasio-Cortez won the Democratic primary against incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in June in an upset that shook the party establishment.
A dues-paying member of the Democratic Socialists of America, Ocasio-Cortez's victory signaled a sharp shift to the left among the Democratic Party base.
Despite her war against the party's establishment, Ocasio-Cortez still earned Obama's blessings.
"The Democratic Party has always made the biggest difference in the lives of the American people when we lead with conviction, principle, and bold, new ideas. Our incredible array of candidates up and down the ticket, all across the country, make up a movement of citizens who are younger, more diverse, more female than ever before," said President Obama in a statement. "They're Americans who aren't just running against something, but for something. They're running to expand opportunity and restore the honor and compassion that should be the essence of public service. I'm proud to endorse so many of them today, and I'm eager to continue making the case for why they deserve our votes this November."
Obama's new round of endorsements signal his eagerness to dive into the upcoming elections. Since September, Obama has campaigned for candidates in Illinois, Ohio, California and Pennsylvania.
A spokesman for the Republican National Committee responded to Obama's endorsement in an email to The Daily Caller.
"President Obama oversaw slowest economic recovery in modern history and it cost Democrats more than 1,000 seats. By tying these candidates to his failed economic policies, he's helping ensure they suffer the same fate," said Michael Ahrens.

Steny Hoyer: Not 'realistic' for Democrats to require higher threshold for speaker vote
House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., threw cold water on a petition by a handful of Democrats calling for a rule change that would require a candidate for speaker to secure a majority of the House in the party's private caucus vote. House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., threw cold water on a petition by a handful of Democrats calling for a rule change that would require a candidate for speaker to secure a majority of the House in the party's private caucus vote. When Democrats choose a speaker or minority leader after the election, they'll hold a private caucus vote before a floor vote at the start of the new Congress. Right now, whoever runs for speaker or leader only has to nail down a majority of the Democratic caucus and then a majority of the House on the floor. A number of Democrats, mainly those opposed to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's ongoing reign, are trying to change that threshold. In a letter to Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley, D-N.Y., last week, 10 Democrats called for a vote to change the rule. Hoyer said Democrats are going to discuss it this week before Congress adjourns for a more than month to campaign ahead of the November election. "It's an interesting idea," Hoyer said of the proposal. "I think that members want to make sure that we can elect a speaker, and elect a speaker that has broad support, and that's what their objective is." "My own view is [that] requiring 218 votes may be requiring a number that, you know, may be 90 percent of the caucus," Hoyer continued. "I don't know that that's realistic, in the sense that if you have three or four candidates, it's very tough to get to that number."
The majority of the Democrats who signed onto the letter are vocal Pelosi defectors, or have voiced support for others to run for the top spot. Some saw the letter as an attempt to strengthen support for Rep. Jim Clyburn, who has offered himself as a "bridge" candidate for speaker, should Pelosi fall short of the votes. But others who helped craft the letter aren't Clyburn supporters, arguing that just moving around the top three doesn't shake up Democratic leadership. When asked about the effort before the letter was finalized, Rep. Kathleen Rice, D-N.Y., said there needs to be a change in all of the top three leadership posts. "My call for leadership change wasn't just about Nancy Pelosi, it was about the whole team," Rice told the Washington Examiner earlier this month. "It doesn't mean just switching the chairs, it means getting, opening up all of those positions for new people to run."

Oakland City Council Passes 'Abolish ICE' Resolution
Oakland's city council unanimously approved a resolution on Monday evening calling on Congress to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf made headlines months before Democratic-Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) upset longtime Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) in a primary earlier this year when Schaaf alerted illegal immigrants in the Bay Area of impending ICE raids. Schaaf also signed a letter calling for ICE to be abolished.
Councilmember Rebecca Kaplan, who authored the resolution, told the East Bay Citizen that "ICE's actions have had ramifications in our own backyard."
"ICE came into West Oakland and tore apart a family while falsely slandering them-claiming it was a criminal case-when they were filing a civil deportation action and no criminal charges," she reportedly said. "We've now experienced enough of ICE telling lies, ripping apart families, and leaving guns loose where they get into the hands of murderers and spreading racism."
Oakland, which has been a "sanctuary city" since 1986, has in recent years passed resolutions that declared that ICE's presence in "Oakland is causing trauma in the community, and causing a chilling effect that weakens cooperation with local law enforcement" and prohibited the Oakland Police Department from providing "law enforcement assistance, including traffic support, to ICE including any subdivision of ICE, in any capacity, except to respond to a public safety emergency."

Democrats flocked to the polls for Thursday's primaries, but look who they elected: a state Senate candidate who couldn't stop lying about her background and a former lawmaker who slashed his girlfriend and served time for corruption.
Julia Salazar breezed past eight-term Sen. Martin Dilan in Brooklyn - even though she misrepresented her education, her religious background, her birthplace and her economic status.
"In a sense, shame is dead. Facts are dead. Voters are more concerned about ideology and not character," said Doug Muzzio, public affairs professor at CUNY's Baruch College.
"When I was growing up, they taught us that lying is lying. It shows poor character. Today . . . I don't know."
A shell-shocked Dilan told The Post he was "very surprised" by his shellacking at the hands of the 27-year-old neophyte. Salazar captured 59 percent of the vote in Thursday's contest, in which the turnout was nearly triple what it was in 2016.
"I can't believe people supported someone who can't keep their word or can't tell the truth," Dilan said.
"I don't feel she won. I was defeated by a national organization - the Democratic Socialists of America. They put a lot of people on the ground. People outside the district created a wave for her. She won by a nice margin."
He also admitted being swamped by newer, progressive voters in Williamsburg and Greenpoint. "New people in the district didn't know me," he said.
Dilan added that he had not called his rival to concede "because I don't have her number."
Salazar said voters were sick of entrenched pols like Dilan, who had close ties to and accepted big bucks from the real-estate industry while doing little for tenants' rights.
"We sent a message that politics as usual - not only are constituents tired of it but it's not the most effective way to win an election anymore. And it's more critical than ever, especially in local races and hyper-local races, to run a truly grassroots campaign," said Salazar.
The new senator - she has no Republican opponent in November - lied about graduating from Columbia University, falsely claimed to be an immigrant, exaggerated her religious background and claimed to have grown up as working class despite living next to the Mets' Keith Hernandez in Florida.
Citizens Union revoked its endorsement after her background was called into question.
Other analysts said her win was part of a trend - or even a revolt - that included Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's surprise win over Queens party boss and incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in June.
"I think with Salazar it was a function of the AOC effect and the heart and soul of the Democratic Party's full embrace of socialism," said GOP strategist Jessica Proud.

Linda Sarsour: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Is the Hope We Have Been Waiting For
Tuesday was a big day for progressive Democrats. In New York, former Bernie Sanders organizer Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated Rep. Joe Crowley. In Maryland, former NAACP chair Benjamin Jealous won the Democratic gubernatorial primary. We speak to Linda Sarsour of MPower Change about what the victories mean for the Democratic Party.
Transcript
This is a rush transcript. Copy may not be in its final form.
AMY GOODMAN: In a moment, we're going to talk about the travel ban, but Linda Sarsour is with us, director of the first Muslim online organizing platform, MPower Change. You supported Alexandria. This is a remarkable moment.
LINDA SARSOUR: I mean, in light of such horrible news yesterday with the travel ban and the Muslim ban, Alexandria is the hope that we've been waiting for. She is a young woman of color. She's Puerto Rican. She's a Socialist, just like me. We are both card-carrying DSA members. And she's pro-Palestine, and she's unapologetic. And the movement right now is elated, because this is what you're going to see, Amy, in this election season. It's a new day, a new generation. And Alexandria is what represents us and our values.
JUAN GONZÁLEZ: And as you were saying before we went on the air, there were many people, even so-called progressives, who didn't give her much of a chance at all of winning against Crowley.
LINDA SARSOUR: Absolutely, because we-everybody puts everything into money. She was outraised almost 10 to one. And it's not about money. It's about the grassroots organizing. It's about building power on the ground. It's about getting voters who have been ignored and marginalized to the polls. And that's exactly what Alexandria did. She's charismatic. She's young. And she was also very progressive, unapologetically progressive-tuition-free college, Medicare for all, pro-Palestine, even in the recent Great Return March putting her voice out there while she was campaigning, not afraid of any opposition that was going to come her way. And that's the new kind of folks that are going to win. So, no Democrat is going to hold their seat for too long. And a lot of Alexandrias are coming this 2018 and 2020.
AMY GOODMAN: It is truly a remarkable moment. And Joe Crowley, in conceding last night, picked up a guitar and dedicated "Born to Run" to Alexandria.
LINDA SARSOUR: Mm-hmm. I mean, look, that was classy. I'm going to give Crowley some props for that. But at the end of the day, you lost, and you didn't think you were going to lose, and you were confident that you were going to win. And the Democratic Party in Queens thought he was going to win, in the country thought was going to win. But he didn't. And that's why never underestimate the power of the grassroots movement or the resistance.

Ocasio-Cortez: Trump Zero-Tolerance Policy on Spectrum of 'Ethnic Cleansing'
Democratic-Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thinks President Donald Trump's "zero-tolerance" enforcement policy is on the spectrum of "ethnic cleansing."
During an appearance on this week's "In The Thick" podcast, Ocasio-Cortez, when speaking about the "Abolish ICE" movement that got momentum after her primary win over Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY), said, "But we also have to ask ourselves the question: How much is this black-box detention necessary? And you look at these facilities-we're caging women and children, we're jumping to criminalize people..."
The podcast's co-host then interjected: "Kinda like ethnic cleansing."
Ocasio-Cortez responded: "I mean we're on that spectrum, I would say."
This is not the first time left-wing activists vehemently opposed to President Donald Trump's immigration agenda have made sensational accusations about "ethnic cleansing."
After Trump referred to MS-13 illegal immigrant gangsters as "animals" earlier this year, the pro-amnesty group United We Dream group also accused Trump of "building up a racially motivated rationale for his immoral and brutal campaign of ethnic cleansing."
"Such tactics have been used over and over, generation after generation to criminalize, lock up and kill Black and brown people," the group wrote in an email for its fundraising campaign. "You see, the Trump plan is plainly clear. It is not about gangs. It is not even about sensible immigration policy. Trump's goal is to eradicate immigrants from this land and to keep us living in fear. He wants to go after all of us, and with his comments and his tour to Long Island today, he is building up a racially motivated rationale for his immoral and brutal campaign of ethnic cleansing."

That escalated quickly:
The already-fractured DNC is having an identity crisis. While establishment Democrats Nancy Pelosi (CA) and Chuck Schumer (NY) battle it out with Maxine Waters (CA) over anti-Trump activism, the party is now mounting support for their new rising star - Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, after the 28-year-old political neophyte unseated the 4th most powerful Democrat in Congress last month in an upset primary win.
Ocasio-Cortez, a dues-paying member of Democratic Socialists of America (whose leadership has been openly calling for communism) - says that the US should abolish the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE), while also claiming that illegal aliens deserve a "right of passage" into the United States.
And despite being called out recently for projecting a blue collar "girl from the Bronx" image while growing up in a wealthy enclave, Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez told progressive radio host Bill Press Tuesday that Ocasio-Cortez represents "the future of our party."
Press: There was a primary in several states. Your home state of Maryland and also up in New York where the 4th most powerful Democrat in the United States, Congressman Joe Crowley was knocked out by a young woman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - 28 years old - never ran for office before - big progressive - calls herself a Democratic socialist, actually like Bernie Sanders did - she was a Bernie Sanders supporter, and in Maryland, Ben Jealous another strong progressive wins the Democratic nomination for governor. What's this tell you about where the Democratic Party is going today?
Perez: Well, my daughters - I have 3 kids, two of whom are daughters, one just graduated college, one is in college, and they were both texting me about their excitement over Alexandria because, you know, she really represents the future of our party. She ran a spirited campaign.
And while "Democratic insurgents" (as the Washington Post calls them) want to abolish ICE, the rest of the Democratic party is not behind her. Not even Bernie Sanders would commit to the notion.
On Sunday morning, CNN's Jake Tapper put the question to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.): Did the senator, a democratic socialist and 2016 presidential candidate, the most prominent left-wing politician in the country, want to abolish ICE?
"I think what we need is to create policies which deal with immigration in a rational way," Sanders said, evading the topic of ICE itself. -Washington Post

The Democratic Socialists of America recently got a major boost when one of their endorsed candidates, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, beat out incumbent Democrat Rep. Joe Crowley in a primary last Tuesday for New York's 14th Congressional District.
This far-left political organization previously made headlines when leadership from their Iowa State campus chapter encouraged people to shoot president Trump and when leadership from their University of Georgia Chapter called for the execution of house GOP members. Now multiple DSA leaders are publicly endorsing communism, an ideology responsible or the oppression, incarceration, and murder of tens of millions of people.
Here is the original tweet from Olivia Katbi Smith, who is the co-Chair of the Portland DSA chapter: (pic 1)
Shortly after, other DSA leaders weighed in with their endorsement of communism.

Since her win, legacy media has rolled out the red carpet for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and for "democratic socialism". She has done interview after interview and appears to be starting her "late night comedy" circuit but for some reason, her affiliation with an organization whose members have openly called for the murder of their political opposition and who are now endorsing a violent authoritarian ideology has not been brought into question. Why is that? Consider the alternative: a Republican winning a primary and being endorsed by an organization whose members advocated for the murder of Democrats and whose leadership said "Nazism is good." How differently would that play out?

Girl from the Bronx' Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who beat high-ranking Democrat Joe Crowley, faces questions over her 'working class' background after its revealed she grew up in a wealthy suburb north of New York City
Ocasio-Cortez, 28, won shock upset over 10-term Dem incumbent this month
Primary win makes her a shoe-in for Congress in New York's liberal 14th District
Avowed socialist describes her 'working class' upbringing in campaign bio
Claims she made a 40-minute commute from the Bronx for better school as kid
But her architect father bought house in wealthy Westchester County in 1991
Ocasio-Cortez went on to attend Brown University and interned for Ted Kennedy
YIKES, SHE WAS A TED KENNEDY INTERN
The hardscrabble biography of Democrat Congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been called into question after the revelation that she grew up mostly in wealthy Westchester County.
Though Ocasio-Cortez, 28, was born in and currently lives in the Bronx, county land records show her late father Sergio Cortez-Roman bought a quaint three-bedroom in Yorktown Heights, New York in 1991, when she was about two.
It is an apparent contradiction with the candidate's official biography, which states in part: 'The state of Bronx public schools in the late 80s and early 90s sent her parents on a search for a solution. She ended up attending public school 40 minutes north in Yorktown, and much of her life was defined by the 40 minute commute between school and her family in the Bronx.'
Ocasio-Cortez also boasted on Stephen Colbert's late-night show that President Donald Trump, born in Queens, wouldn't know how to handle 'a girl from the Bronx' such as herself.
The candidate did not immediately respond to a request for comment from DailyMail.com on Saturday evening.

Q Research General #2476: "WE ARE THE MAJORITY" Edition
posted about 7 minutes ago, she's a larp!!
The Democratic Party's rising socialist icon - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has been on an intense media junket since her upset primary victory over establishment Democrat Joe Crowley this week - doing her darnedest to project her "girl from the Bronx" working-class image.
"Well, you know, the president is from Queens, and with all due respect - half of my district is from Queens - I don't think he knows how to deal with a girl from the Bronx," Ocasio-Cortez told Stephen Colbert during an appearance on The Late Show.
The socialist phenom also told the Washington Post "I wasn't born to a wealthy or powerful family - mother from Puerto Rico, dad from the South Bronx. I was born in a place where your Zip code determines your destiny."
Except Ocasio-Cortez isn't quite the blue-collar champion she's branding herself as. Breitbart's Josh Caplan is out with a "fact check" on the Democratic Socialist's background - only to find she grew up in one of the riches counties in the United States.
Around the age of five, Alexandria's architect father Sergio Ocasio moved the family from the "planned community" of Parkchester in the Bronx to a home in Yorktown Heights, a wealthy suburb in Westchester County. The New York Times describes her childhood home as "a modest two-bedroom house on a quiet street." In a 1999 profile of the area, when Ocasio-Cortez would have been ten years old, the Times lauded Yorktown Heights' "diversity of housing in a scenic setting" - complete with two golf courses.
The paper quoted Linda Cooper, the town supervisor, describing Yorktown as "a folksy area where people can come, kick off their shoes, wander around, sit in a cafe, listen to a concert in the park, or go to the theater."
…
Westchester County - which the Washington Post, in a glowing profile on Ocasio-Cortez, describes as only "middle class" - ranks #8 in the nation for the counties with the "highest average incomes among the wealthiest one percent of residents." According to the Economic Policy Institute, the county's average annual income of the top one percent is a staggering $4,326,049.
Yorktown Heights, specifically, offers a sharp contrast from Bronx living. According to USA.com, the town's population is 81 percent white, and median household income is $96,413 - nearly double the average for both New York state and the nation, according to data from 2010-2014.
Not exactly Jenny from the block…
We wonder how long it will take Ocasio-Cortez to ride the "Democratic Socialist" wave until she's firing off tweets from her third home and making $1 million, two years in a row, like Bernie Sanders.
Speaking of 1 million, that's how many Venezuelan Bolivar it costs to buy a Cafe con Leche in Argentina now… (about .29c)
Then again, "Democratic Socialism" is apparently totally not that kind of socialism.

Joe Crowley THREW THE FIGHT?
Did Joe Crowley intentionally lose his primary so he didn't have to say he's not seeking reelection?
Or did some of our helpers give Alexandria a hand to take him out?
Or both?

Q Research General #2421: Ball of Confusion Edition
NICE TO SEE HEADLINES LIKE THIS, KEK
The Democrats are in Turmoil!': Trump celebrates a 'BIG NIGHT' as some huge opposition names go down in their primaries, including 'big hater' Joe Crowley, who was slated to replace Nancy Pelosi as speaker
President Trump relished in a huge Democrat upset that saw US Rep. Joseph Crowley go down in the New York primaries to a 28-year-old liberal activist
Crowley is a member of the Democratic House leadership and was considered a possible candidate to replace Nancy Pelosi as leader
Congressman was beaten by underfunded challenger Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Trump was thrilled with Crowley's defeat, tweeting that the 'big hater' should have 'been nicer to his President'
The President had reason to celebrate as all three of his endorsed candidates survived primary challenges, including Mitt Romney and Henry McMaster
