In yet another sign you can't always believe the medical literature, journalist Maryanne Demasi reported a couple weeks back that a medical journal retracted a study critical of COVID vaccines because a Reuters fact check didn't like it. Funny thing is, Reuters fact checkers never seems to like studies or commentators critiquing COVID vaccines, and always seeks to knock them down.

At least that's what I reported back in March when I uncovered several fake Reuters fact checks that made scientifically false statements during the pandemic about COVID vaccines. When I asked their reporter at the time if they were going to go back and fix several "fact checks" that reported facts that were scientifically false, they didn't respond.

Reuters is one of the largest newsrooms on the planet. And it's not just that Reuters fact checkers constantly defend COVID vaccines, attacking any social media comment or published research that might harm the bottom line of Pfizer or other manufacturers, but they also have ignored several times when Pfizer itself put out false COVID vaccine information. Last year, a British regulator accused Pfizer of "bringing discredit" on the pharmaceutical industry for illegal COVID vaccine marketing.

Parents of the children were able to collect them from the hospital
Nearly fifty children and two adults have been rushed to hospital following a collision in Pennsylvania.

A school bus carrying 49 children collided with a flatbed tow truck in Luzerne County at around 8am on Route 115.

The driver of the truck, Edward Steinmann, 28, is believed to have suffered a medical issue while traveling along the road.

Police say this caused them to cross over the road and strike the bus head-on, with the driver taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Suzanne Ent, 53, who was driving the bus, was also taken to hospital to be checked over for her injuries.

Both drivers are understood to have suffered 'moderate' injuries in the incident, with a secondary bus arriving on scene to take the kids to the hospital.

The children suffered 'minor injuries', but were still taken to the medical center as a precaution.

Pennsylvania State Police have confirmed that the children were on their way to Bear Creek Community Charter School for their second day of school.

All of the children were aged between five to 14, and are all in grades kindergarten to eight.

The parents of the children have been notified, and were able to collect them from the hospital. A probe into the crash is still ongoing.

In a statement, the Pennsylvania State Police said: 'Although this was an unfortunate event we are grateful there were no serious injuries.

'We wish everyone a speedy recovery. We'd like to thank the good citizens who stopped to render aid.'

Route 115 is closed from Laurel Run Road to East Mountain Boulevard while crews work the scene.

Jim Smith, CEO of Bear Creek Community Charter School added that he wanted to thank all the responding agencies to the 'unfortunate incident along the highway.

He said: 'I'd also like to reinforce that the parents, bystanders and school staff rallied to support the students. I am looking forward to the results of the ongoing investigation.

'We thank the police and STA and the bus company blessed with a phenomenal level of cooperation among all entities that showed through today.'

Jim Smith - whose concurrent roles as a Pfizer board member and Reuters CEO appear to pose a conflict of interest - serves as a board member of the World Economic Forum's anti-corruption initiative.

Smith's leading role with the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Partnering Against Corruption Initiative follows controversy over his position at the pharmaceutical giant and mainstream media outlet, which frequently reports on Pfizer. Reuters has published tens of thousands of articles covering or mentioning Pfizer, though the articles never disclose Smith's affiliation with either entity.

Smith serves on the board of the WEF's Partnering Against Corruption Initiative, dubbed the "leading business voice on anti-corruption and transparency."

"It is one of the Forum's strongest cross-industry collaborative efforts and is creating a highly visible, agenda-setting platform by working with business leaders, international organizations and governments to address corruption, transparency and emerging-market risks," explains a WEF synopsis.

In this role, Smith has contributed articles to the WEF website, including a 2017 piece: "Corruption and the Erosion of Trust."

"Today's common struggle against corruption goes far beyond compliance. More problematic is the profound and worsening trust deficit that exists between institutions and individuals," Smith begins before lamenting the public's loss of trust in mainstream media outlets:

"The widespread perception that institutions-both public and private-are not acting in the interests of the people they serve pervades the thinking of communities across the globe. News organizations, which have historically served as the watchdog for governments and business leaders, are less trusted by the public than ever before."

"Public confidence has been corroded by a concentration on near-term priorities and payoffs, propelled by election-cycle politics or quarterly results targets that too often leave children worse off than their parents," laments Smith.

The article, however, comes amidst the Federal Drug Administration and Pfizer attempting to delay the release of documents related to the efficacy of its COVID-19 vaccine.

The WEF has been accused of exploiting COVID-19 to advance its "Great Reset" agenda to advance its radical agenda of abolishing private property ownership.

The chairman and former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Reuters news agency - James C. Smith - is a top investor and board member for pharmaceuticals giant Pfizer. He was elected to the board in 2014, as well as joining Pfizer's Corporate Governance and Science and Technology Committees. The news raises serious conflict of interest concerns as corporate media outlets such as Reuters continue to promote Pfizer products, defend pharmaceuticals companies from criticism, and move to silence skeptics.

Smith is currently the Chairman of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, the London-based charity known for providing news and information to billions of readers. He was also the President, Chief Executive Officer, and on the Board of Director of Reuters from 2012 until his retirement in 2020.

He has worked with the organization since 1987, when they were known as the Thomson Newspaper group. He has also served as the CEO of the professional division, overseeing legal, tax and accounting, and intellectual property and science businesses. Later, he went on to lead the North America operations for the news organization.

In an official statement at the time, Ian Read, Pfizer's chairman and CEO said: "We are pleased to have Jim Smith join Pfizer's Board of Directors. He brings leadership and operational and international business experience to Pfizer's Board, and will be an excellent asset to the company. The addition of Jim to our Board helps ensure that Pfizer will continue to benefit from a breadth and variety of experience."

In the last year alone, Reuters has published more than 22,000 articles mentioning Pfizer. The company has only published 8,191 articles related to Moderna, and 18,000 related to Johnson & Johnson. Many of the articles about Johnson & Johnson were negative in sentiment, unlike their Pfizer reporting.

Smith is also linked to the World Economic Forum (WEF), where he serves on the board of Partnering Against Corruption Initiative. He's also a member of WEF's International Business Advisory Boards of British American Business and the Atlantic Council.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Smith also holds the position of President & CEO of Refinitiv Transaction Services, Ltd, who boasted $6.25 billion in revenue with more than 40,000 customers and 400,000 end users across 190 countries. Refinitiv was a member of the Thomson Reuters Group until 2018.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A bipartisan U.S. congressional commission has called on Hilton Worldwide not to allow its name to be associated with a hotel project on the site of a mosque bulldozed by authorities in China's Xinjiang region, where Washington says minority Muslims have been victims of genocide.
In a letter on Thursday to Christopher Nassetta, president and CEO of Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc, Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley and Representative Jim McGovern raised concerns about reports that a Hampton by Hilton hotel was being constructed on the site of the mosque destroyed in 2018 in Xinjiang's Hotan prefecture.
"The site is emblematic of the Chinese government's campaign of widespread destruction of Uyghur religious and cultural sites in the XUAR and official efforts to eradicate Uyghurs' religious and cultural practices," the letter said, referring to minority Uyghur Muslims and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
The letter, a copy of which was made available to Reuters, was co-signed by the senior Congressional-Executive Commission on China Republicans, Senator Marco Rubio and Representative Jim Smith.
Hilton Worldwide did not immediately respond to emailed requests for comment.
The letter said the destruction of Uyghur religious and cultural sites had contributed to the U.S. government's determination that genocide and crimes against humanity were being perpetrated against Muslims in Xinjiang.
"Hilton should not allow its name to be used to perpetuate and promote the cultural erasure and repression of the millions of Uyghurs living in the XUAR," it said.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations, the largest U.S. Muslim advocacy organization, this week called on Hilton shareholders to seek details on the hotel plan, revealed in June by Britain's Daily Telegraph.
It quoted Hilton as saying the hotel was a franchise development overseen by a Chinese firm, Huan Peng Hotel Management, which said it had purchased the land as a vacant lot via a public auction. The firm added that it would "comply fully with all local laws, authorities and Hilton brand development standards."
According to CECC research, authorities in Xinjiang demolished or damaged around 16,000 mosques and more than half of the region's other religious sites such as shrines and cemeteries in recent years.

The horror of the 1986 nuclear reactor meltdown in Pripyat, Ukraine, brought to life for television reinvigorated the general public's interest in the area, which hosts a 1,600 square-mile exclusion zone that has been abandoned since the disaster.

But for others, like The Chernobyl Spirit Company, the exclusion zone is a land of opportunity. At least, until their first batch of "ATOMIK," an alcohol distilled from slightly radioactive apples, was seized by Ukrainian authorities on its way to the United Kingdom.

"It seems that they are accusing us of using forged Ukrainian excise stamps, but this doesn't make sense since the bottles are for the UK market and are clearly labeled with valid UK excise stamps," said Jim Smith, an environmental science professor at Portsmouth University and the founder of The Chernobyl Spirit Company, in a statement.

The Chernobyl Spirit Company has for the last two years worked with the Palinochka Distillery to produce ATOMIK using apples from the Narodychi District - one of the only remaining inhabited areas affected by the accident. It's an artisinal vodka, more lovingly referred to as a moonshine, which is completely safe, according to scientists.

"This is no more radioactive than any other vodka," Smith told BBC in 2019. "Any chemist will tell you, when you distil something, impurities stay in the waste product. We asked our friends at Southampton University, who have an amazing radio-analytical laboratory, to see if they could find any radioactivity. They couldn't find anything - everything was below their limit of detection."

The venture is designed to give back to local communities affected by the disaster. According to the website, at least 75 percent of the profits will go to wildlife conservation and people of the affected areas.

"We hope this issue can be resolved so that we can continue our work trying to help people affected by the devastating social and economic impacts Chernobyl had on communities," Dr. Gennady Laptev, a Chernobyl "liquidator" who worked at the plant in the first weeks after the accident, said in the release.

From the onset of the pandemic, social media giants, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, have flagged COVID-related posts the social media giants deem "false or misleading."

That's not news - most social media users are aware of the practice, especially amid recent headlines citing increased pressure from Congress and the White House to aggressively crack down on "vaccine misinformation."

But here's a less-publicized fact some social media users - and consumers of online news - may not know: Reuters, owned by the $40 billion international multimedia company, Thomson Reuters Corporation, is also in the business of "fact checking" social media posts, and publishing its fact-checking commentary online in a format designed to resemble new stories, which turn up in online searches.

Last week, Reuters announced a new collaboration with Twitter to "more quickly provide credible information on the social networking site as part of an effort to fight the spread of misinformation."

In February, Reuters announced a similar partnership with Facebook to "fact check" social media posts.

However, when announcing its fact-checking partnerships with Facebook and Twitter, Reuters made no mention of this fact: The news organization has ties to Pfizer, World Economic Forum (WEF) and Trusted News Initiative (TNI), an industry collaboration of major news and global tech organizations whose stated mission is to "combat spread of harmful vaccine disinformation."

Reuters also failed to provide any criteria for how information would be defined as "misinformation" and did not disclose the qualifications of the people responsible for determining fact versus false or misleading "misinformation."

Physician kicked off LinkedIn for calling out Reuters' ties to TNI, Pfizer, WEF

Dr. Robert Malone, a physician and inventor of mRNA vaccines and RNA drugs, said he thinks anyone reading Reuters "fact check" articles about COVID-related content should know about, as Malone says, the obvious conflicts of interest.

On June 28, Malone tweeted this:

In the tweet, Malone showed the LinkedIn profile of Jim Smith:

"Jim Smith, who sits on Pfizer's board, is also former president and current chairman of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, and CEO and director of Reuters parent company, Thomson Reuters Corporation - a $1.53 billion publicly traded "provider of financial information ... to businesses, governments and individuals worldwide."

Twitter didn't censor or remove the post. But when Malone posted the same information on LinkedIn, he was banned from the platform the next day for violating LinkedIn's "User Agreement and Professional Community Policies against sharing content that contains misleading or inaccurate information."

LinkedIn was purchased in 2016 for $26.2 billion by Microsoft, when the company's co-founder Bill Gates was still at the helm. Microsoft's COO and corporate vice president, Kirk Koenigsbauer, also serves on the board of Thomson Reuters.

Gates, who is set to profit substantially from COVID vaccine sales, still owns stock in Microsoft - about $5.1 billion, according to recent estimates. In March, Gates stepped down from Microsoft's board, but he continues to serve as technology adviser to the tech firm's CEO, Satya Nadella.

Malone's LinkedIn profile was eventually restored, but only after a series of emails, initiated by Malone, between him and LinkedIn executives.
