Auditors Finish Counting Ballots in Arizona's Maricopa County

Auditors in Arizona's largest county on July 28 finished a third count of ballots and will shift to compiling a draft report on the audit results.

Workers overseen by retired auditor Randy Pullen, a former Arizona Republican Party chair, completed the third count at the Wesley Bolin Building on the Arizona State Fairgrounds in Phoenix, according to Arizona Senate President Karen Fann.

"The physical tabulation of the ballots are complete and are being returned to Maricopa County tomorrow," Fann told The Epoch Times via email.

The data gathered by the auditors will now be taken to their labs for analysis.

Teams led by Florida-based Cyber Ninjas last month finished an initial hand tally of the nearly 2.1 million ballots cast in the 2020 election.

The third set of numbers was needed because the initial recount and the number Maricopa County reported didn't match, Fann said earlier this month.

Maricopa County's Board of Supervisors has repeatedly denounced the auditors and Jack Sellers, the chairman of the board, saying that the methods used were "flawed" and would "produce incorrect results."

In the third count, workers led by Pullen only tabulated the number of ballots, instead of marking down some or all of the votes, which the auditors and the county did.

The third count was done on the advice of the Arizona Senate Republicans' attorney, according to Fann.

The completion of the physical audit comes after days of tension between Cyber Ninjas and Ken Bennett, a former Republican secretary of state tapped by Fann to serve as the state Senate's audit liaison.

Bennett said on July 26 that he was considering stepping down after being blocked from the audit following his sharing of some of the auditors' findings with outside analysts, casting doubt on whether the third count was done independently of Cyber Ninjas. On July 28, he told radio host James Harris he would resign later in the day.

"I do remain locked out of the audit and as such, it's impossible for me to really function as the liaison," he said.

Bennett didn't respond to a request for comment. He later told the Arizona Mirror that he had reached a deal with Fann to remain as the liaison.

While speaking to Harris, Bennett remained open to helping examine the draft report and final report, but said he would only do so if he had access to the source data and any other information used to produce the report.

"I can't just come in at the last minute and be asked to endorse something I can't be a part of really building the way it needs to be built," he said.

Fann told The Epoch Times in an email that senators don't have access to the numbers the auditors have tallied.

"We should not be looking over their shoulder, telling them how to do their job or asking for premature information. When the audit is complete, then they will need to provide us with all their proof and documentation of their results," she wrote.

She also said in a statement that it was irresponsible of Bennett to disclose how many ballots were in some of the boxes to a trio of analysts who have repeatedly disparaged the audit.

But she said Bennett would "be involved and a vital part of the draft and final reports to ensure their accuracy with his knowledge and contributions throughout the audit process."

The completion also came after the Department of Justice issued a new warning against audits like the one conducted in Arizona, and after Arizona senators subpoenaed the county and Dominion Voting Systems-whose machines the county uses to run elections-for more election-related data, including administrative passwords for the machines.

Both county officials and Dominion have refused to provide more information, despite a judge ruling in February the initial subpoenas issued last year were lawful.

Without the additional data, the final report will be incomplete, state Sen. Warren Peterson, a Republican, told a hearing in mid-July.

"We sincerely hope Maricopa County will produce the missing documents and information we have requested for the audit to be complete and finalized. The voters deserve to know their votes are safe, secure, and legally counted," Fann said.

Twitter on Tuesday banned several accounts linked to official 2020 election audits, including Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, Pennsylvania.

The move comes one day after former Arizona GOP Secretary of State Ken Bennett - who's serving as the Arizona Senate Republicans' liaison to an ongoing audit, raised concerns over being excluded from the process.

"I cannot be a part of a process that I am kept out of critical aspects along the way that make the audit legitimate and have integrity when we produce the final report," Bennett told conservative talkshow host James Harris. "And unfortunately, there have been too many of those situations. And the tip of the iceberg kind of came out last Friday when I was denied access to the audit."

"I can only be a part of moving forward and vouching for the final product if there's transparency in seeing the procedures and the things that are going to be used to build that final product," he added. "Do I have confidence that we can get a final product that's good? Yes."

Alexander Kolodin, amicus attorney in the the Senate case against the Maricopa County Supervisors, spoke with Gail Golec about the best course of action for Senate subpoena enforcement.

Kolodin recommends the Senate file a fresh subpoena enforcement action for the withheld items with the Arizona Supreme Court. He noted that there is "plenty of case law out there that legislative subpoenas are enforceable by the judiciary." Kolodin points out that the AZ Supreme Court is "fairly conservative and likely to have a favorable view of legislative supremacy."

Another option would be to go through the Arizona Attorney General. The AG's office can be forced to investigate if a member of the AZ State Legislature makes a report that includes allegations of illegal conduct by a county.

Toward the end of the conversation, Kolodin also discusses the path for retroactive action with respect to the election. While the state legislature can and should hold a decertification vote, it will be up to the courts or Congress to actually reverse the election, according to Kolodin.

Senator Karen Fann joined the James Harris Conservative Circus show to discuss the decertification path and options for retrieving the items needed to complete the audit:

1. If the audit determines that the reported numbers are incorrect, the case will go to court.

2. If the court agrees with the audit findings, the AZ House and Senate will put up a resolution to decertify the election. However, decertification would require a majority vote in both the House and Senate, which would require the cooperation of RINOs Paul Boyer and Rusty Bowers.

3. If fraud is suspected, the Senate will turn the case over to the Attorney General for prosecution.

4. Senator Fann explains that the Senate does not have the power to issue a warrant to retrieve the missing items as suggested by Josh Barnett. Section 2D of the Senate rules states that a warrant may be issued for payment of a bill or after a resolution of contempt has passed. Boyer blocked the contempt resolution on February 8th.

5. According to Senator Fann, the options available to the Senate to acquire the missing items are:

- go back to court [in an interview (https://t.me/ArizonaConservatives/2419) last night, attorney Alex Kolodin recommended filing a subpoena enforcement action with the AZ Supreme Court]

- issue new subpoenas [although it's unclear why these would be treated any differently]

- submit FOIA requests [however, these can take a long time]

- conduct more hearings [but out of session and without Boyer, the Senate cannot compel attendance]

A 14-year-old girl showed cops video she secretly recorded of her stepfather. Now, he's in jail.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. - On July 1st, Flagler County deputies responded to a call about a possible sex offense that occurred at a home in Palm Coast.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim's father who wanted to report that earlier that day his 14- year-old daughter stated that her stepfather, James Harris came into her room naked and started inappropriately touching himself while she was laying in bed, pretending to be asleep.

The victim's father further stated that his daughter had captured the incident on her cell phone that she used to record the incident. A review of the video confirmed the victim's account of events and also showed Harris using his cell phone to either take photos or record a video while in the victim's bedroom.

On July 3, 2021, FCSO detectives obtained a warrant for Harris's arrest and he was taken into custody. His cell phone was confiscated to conduct a forensic analysis as the investigation continues.

"I want to commend the victim for not only coming forward but also for turning the tables on her abuser by capturing him committing the offense," Sheriff Staly said. "This man was a trusted figure in his victim's life. In my opinion this disgusting pervert lost the right to be called a stepfather and is now in jail where he belongs. I'm glad we were able to get him before he hurt his victim further."

Harris, the owner of "Jimmy's Hang Ten Restaurant," was arrested and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. He is charged with Lewd and Lascivious Molestation of a Juvenile and Lewd and Lascivious Exhibition of a Juvenile. He is held on no bond

James Harris, a Mississippi-born sharecropper who gained international fame as "Kamala the Ugandan Giant," a massive professional wrestler who terrorized opponents with his trademark "splash," has died.

World Wrestling Entertainment confirmed his death in a statement Sunday.

Kenny Casanova, who co-wrote Harris' autobiography, wrote on social media that Harris died from COVID-19. He was 70.

In recent years, Harris had suffered from many health ailments, including having both legs amputated because of diabetes.

Born in Senatobia, Mississippi, the nearly 400-pound (181-kilogram) Harris began his wrestling career as Sugar Bear Harris and under other names but wasn't considered successful in the ring. It wasn't until a promoter suggested the Kamala gimmick loosely based on Ugandan dictator Idi Amin that his career took a turn.

Who is Robert Mercer?

Mercer joined IBM Research in the fall of 1972 and worked at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown, New York where he helped develop Brown clustering, a statistical machine translation technique as part of a speech recognition and translation research program led by Frederick Jelinek and Lalit Bahl.[12][13] In June 2014, Mercer received the Association for Computational Linguistics Lifetime Achievement Award for this work.[14]

Mercer has given $750,000 to the Club for Growth, $2 million to American Crossroads,[24] and $2.5 million to Freedom Partners Action Fund.[25] In 2010, he financially supported fringe biochemist[26] Art Robinson's unsuccessful efforts to unseat Peter DeFazio in Oregon's 4th congressional district.[27] In the 2013-2014 election cycle, Mercer donated the fourth largest amount of money among individual donors and the second most among Republican donors.[2]

Mercer joined the Koch brothers' conservative political donor network after the 2010 Citizens United v. FEC, but Mercer and his daughter, Rebekah Mercer, decided to establish their own political foundation.[28] The Mercer Family Foundation, run by Rebekah, has donated to a variety of conservative causes.[2]

Mercer has donated to the Heritage Foundation, the Cato Institute, the Media Research Center, Reclaim New York, GAI, and Citizens for Self-Governance.[11][29][30] In 2013, Mercer was shown data by former Jimmy Carter pollster Patrick Caddell, who has been critical of top Democrats, and commissioned more research from Caddell that showed "voters were becoming alienated from both political parties and mainstream candidates".[11]

Parents say 'sextortion' by inmates drove Army veteran to suicide

The parents of a U.S. Army veteran who took his life last year blame his suicide on inmates in South Carolina who they say carried out a "sextortion" plot.

Kathy Bowling and Kevin Johns believe that scammers from Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville, S.C. contacted Jared Johns and pretended to be the parents of a 17-year-old girl who had sent him illicit photographs, and demanded $1,189 to cover costs of disconnecting the phone and buying a new one.

According to transcripts of text message conversations, which the parents shared with Greenville News, the 24-year-old Johns had a conversation with a person claiming to be "James Harris," and his wife "Mrs Harris." In a series of back-and-forth messages, which appeared to have taken place after a phone call that got disconnected, Johns writes that he understands why the couple would be so upset.

"I have two kids of my own a 2 year old and 1 year old," he wrote, adding he has no recollection of the incident. He pleads for clarification, to no avail.

"She is going to the police and you are going to jail," Mrs Harris replied.

Shortly after that last exchange - and on the 17th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, the event that made him want to join the military - Johns died from a self-inflicted gunshot, according to Greenville County Senior Deputy Coroner Kent Dill.

"I think the PTSD just took over," his mother told The Greenville News, referring to a diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder that Johns received after returning from service in Afghanistan.
