Top Indian American CEOs steering major US companies
September 5, 2022
Updated: March 1, 2023
By Kiran N. Kumar
With his appointment as global coffee giant Starbucks' next CEO, Indian-born Laxman Narasimhan, has joined a select group of Indian American CEOs heading US companies and steering them with a huge global reach.
They include Sundar Pichai, who heads Google and its parent company Alphabet, Microsoft's Satya Nadella, IBM's Arvind Krishna, Adobe's Shantanu Narayen, Twitter's Parag Agrawal, Albertsons' Vivek Sankaran, Micron Technology's Sanjay Mehrotra, FedEx's Raj Subramaniam, and NetApp's George Kurian.
The demand for Indian-Americans as CEOs of multinationals has rekindled new interest in their multicultural exposure and dedication to drive the growth of a global company reflecting in several studies being undertaken in management schools.
A report stated that seven top companies currently headed by them earned over $530 billion in 2020, greater than the GDP of all but 40 countries.
The situation was different three decades ago, when there were very few Indian Americans in the top echelons of corporate America until the glass ceiling was broken in the mid-1990s, by Raj Gupta, Ramani Ayer and Rakesh Gangwal, and Sanjay Mehrotra.
Gupta served as the Chairman and CEO of Rohm & Haas, which was later acquired by Dow Chemicals, for more than a decade.
Ayer served as the CEO and Chairman of The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. from 1997 to 2009. Gangwal was the president and CEO of the US Airways Group from 1998 to 2001.
Then in 2001, PepsiCo named Indra Nooyi as its CEO, and she became the first Indian American woman to head a Fortune 100 company.
Six years later, Vikram Pandit would start his tenure as CEO at Citigroup. Today, Indian Americans hold top-level positions in as many US companies across a spectrum of industries.
The following is a list of ten Indian American CEOs who are leading some top US companies.
Sundar Pichai, CEO, Alphabet Inc. and Google
Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft
Raj Subramaniam, CEO, FedEx
Vivek Sankaran, President and CEO, Albertsons
George Kurian, CEO, NetApp
Arvind Krishna, Chairman & CEO, IBM
Sanjay Mehrotra, President and CEO, Micron Technology
Laxman Narasimhan, CEO, Starbucks
Shantanu Narayen, Chairman and CEO, Adobe Inc.
Parag Agrawal, CEO, Twitter

Here is atranscript of what transpired before the microphone went dead:
I am Peter Flaherty, Chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center.
If we had an independent chair, the Company would be less identified with Mr. Buffett's political activities.
He's donated tens of billions to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. As Bill Gates explained when the couple was still together, "although the foundation bears our names, basically half our resources have come from Warren Buffett."
If "woke" culture is a disease, then philanthropy is the virus.
The Gates Foundation bankrolls the teaching of Critical Race Theory around the country, including that math is inherently racist.
The Gates Foundation offers a Gender Identity Toolbox which asserts that gender is the result of "socially and culturally constructed ideas."
This is a lie. Gender is not a cultural construct. It is a genetic and biological fact.

You are not going to censor what I say, ma'am. I'm very sorry. And I appeal to the Chair that I be allowed to continue. Sir?"
1:20 BUFFETT: "YOU MAY CONTINUE BUT UNDER THE THREE-MINUTE LIMITATION."
Of Course. We know how much Bill Gates cares about children. He met and traveled with Jeffrey Epstein many times after Epstein was convicted of sex crimes.
The Gates Foundation had a huge influence over the COVID response fiasco.
Bill Gates defended China's COVID policies and still discounts the possibility that the virus originated from a lab, even though U.S. intelligence agencies disagree.
The Gates Foundation may be the largest single donor to the "dark money" machine known as Arabella Associates.

NLPC filed a proxy memo in support of its resolution on April 21.
NLPC was the filer of a similar proposal for an independent chair last year at Berkshire when Flaherty spoke in support of the resolution without incident. The proposal received support from diverse shareholders including the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
NLPC sponsors the Corporate Integrity Project and has engaged in shareholder activism since 2004. In 2023, NLPC is the proponent of proposals at 26 companies on a variety of topics.
NLPC-filed proposals for an independent chair were also considered this year at Bank of America, Coca-Cola, Goldman-Sachs, Home Depot, Mondelez, PepsiCo, Salesforce, and Visa.
Since 2004, Flaherty has spoken at the annual meetings of dozens of companies including Alphabet, Amazon, Bank of America, Boeing, Citigroup, Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive, Goldman Sachs, Merck, Facebook (now Meta), PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble and Walmart. In connection to NLPC proposals, he has met with many corporate executives over the years, including then-PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi and then-GE CEO Jeff Immelt.

The US should appoint a non-American to head the World Bank
US priorities are not always in step with the World Bank and other international financial institutions
David Malpass has stepped down as president of the World Bank, with a year still left before the end of his five-year term.
Appointed by US president Donald Trump in 2019, Malpass, an economic analyst, resigned months after he faced criticism for being a climate-change denier. In September, during an interview, he had dithered and declined to agree that fossil fuel consumption is warming the planet.
Malpass later acknowledged manmade climate change and improved climate financing at the World Bank, doubling its climate commitments to $32 billion. In his resignation statement, Malpass said he quit early to "pursue new challenges" and "provide opportunity for a smooth leadership transfer."
His retirement coincides with efforts by Janet Yellen, the US treasury secretary, to reform the World Bank and increase climate-related loans. In mid-April, Yellen said, World Bank governors will adopt updates to the institution's vision and mission
Who should run the World Bank?
Yellen has said that the choice of the next head of the World Bank, based in Washington DC, would be "merit-based." But does that include non-American candidates?
Traditionally, the US chooses World Bank presidents, and its choices have invariably been American bankers or economists. (The head of the International Monetary Fund, by contrast, has always been European, because the choices of western European nations are heavily weighted in the selection process.) These conventions are outdated, argued Mark Sobel, the chair of the US Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum, in 2019.
Not only are US priorities increasingly out of step with the goals of international financial institutions, Sobel wrote, but the choice of a non-American bank president would counter regionalism. The World Bank's global credibility would rise. It could push back against the kind of opaque bilateral financing (such as Chinese official lending) that tips developing countries into unsustainable debt, Sobel added.
The US is interested in global issues like poverty, climate change, and pandemics, and it wants the World Bank to lead on these issues, Charles Kenny, an economist and senior fellow at the Center for Global Development, told Quartz.
"It would be great for the US to put its money where its mouth is and say, as part of wanting the World Bank to step up and global leadership, [that] we're going to make sure that the leader of the institution is the best person we can find globally, not on the basis of having a US passport," Kenny said.
The World Bank gives developing nations billions every year; in 2022, it committed $104 billion to projects around the world. But the bank has been criticized for not sufficiently helping climate-impacted countries and for burdening poor countries with debt. A non-American head would do more than symbolically herald a new world order; they would also come with a different understanding of the most urgent priorities facing developing, climate-hit nations today.
It doesn't, however, seem like the Biden administration is in the mood to break the unwritten code of the World Bank presidency. Rajiv Shah, the head of the Rockefeller Foundation; Samantha Power, the former US ambassador to the UN; and Indra Nooyi, the former CEO of Pepsico have all been floated as potential replacements for Malpass by global development experts-and they're all American.

Why You'll Need to Get COVID-19 Boosters Again and Again

Several highly effective vaccines were developed at an unprecedented speed to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. During the phase 3 clinical trials, mRNA vaccines had vaccine efficacy of 94-95% in preventing symptomatic infections. After the rollout, real-world evidence showed that the mRNA vaccines provided ~90% effectiveness against infection. Then came the variants. The wave after wave of new variants, with ever-increasing transmissibility and capacity to escape existing immunity, challenge the ability of vaccines to prevent infection and transmission. The effectiveness of a primary series of mRNA vaccines (two doses) to prevent hospitalization and death is also being chipped away by these highly immune-evasive variants. Vaccine-mediated protection became shorter-lived, especially with the emergence of Omicron variants. People look at these data and wonder, what is the point of getting the vaccines if they will not prevent symptomatic infections, and the protection does not last? Well, to expect robust protection from just the primary series of any vaccines is unreasonable-and was always likely to be-but somehow society has placed too high a bar on what is considered an acceptable number of doses for COVID-19 vaccines. Instead, we need to understand that we're going to be getting boosters in the foreseeable future, and to appreciate their benefits.

I'd heard she was a never-Trumper, but went back to the original source (this interview) and that doesn't appear to be the case
WASHINGTON - The White House is considering Indra K. Nooyi, the former chief executive officer of PepsiCo, for the position of World Bank president, according to several people familiar with the process.

White House Considering Former Pepsi CEO For World Bank President
Get ready for a "free" Pepsi soda machine in every emerging market ghetto.
Refuting rumors that Ivanka Trump may be set to fill the top rank at one of the world's most important NGOs, the NYT reports that the White House is considering Indra Nooyi, the former CEO of Pepsi for the position of World Bank president. Nooyi, who stepped down from her role at Pepsi last August after leading the company for 12 years, has been courted as an administration ally by Ivanka Trump, the president's eldest daughter who is playing a role in the selection of a nominee.
Still, as the NYT adds, the decision-making process for the top post at the World Bank is fluid and in its initial stages and early front-runners and candidates often fall off the radar, or withdraw from consideration, before the president makes his ultimate pick. It is well known that Trump often makes his own gut decisions about whom to chose.
It is unclear whether Nooyi would accept the nomination if chosen by the administration but Ms. Trump, who has tweeted that she views Ms. Nooyi as a "mentor + inspiration," has floated her name as a potential successor.
Nooyi has dined with the president and other business leaders at his Bedminster, N.J. golf club. She drew criticism for assuming an advisory role on his business council, which was disbanded after many chief executives quit following Mr. Trump's comments blaming "many sides" for white supremacist violence in Charlottesville, Va., in August 2017.
There is one major hurdle facing the former Pepsi CEO: after the 2016 election, during which she supported the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, Nooyi made negative comments which are now seen as a potential roadblock to her nomination. Trump's win, she said, created a lot of questions among her daughters and her employees.
"They were all in mourning," Ms. Nooyi said in an interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin at The New York Times' DealBook conference in 2016.
"Our employees are all crying. And the question that they're asking, especially those who are not white: 'Are we safe?' Women are asking: 'Are we safe?' LGBT people are asking: 'Are we safe?' I never thought I'd have had to answer those questions,"
That those comments may hinder her chances are a reminder that "Trump does not have a large circle of loyalists to choose from for top positions", according to the NYT. Still, if the president refuses to appoint Nooyi, other candidates being considered include David Malpass, the under secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs, whose loyalty to the president runs deep: as well as Ray Washburne, the president of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. Washburne also served on Mr. Trump's 2016 finance team, and was seen as an early candidate for a cabinet position.
As a reminder, the World Bank's current president, Jim Yong Kim, unexpectedly announced earlier this month he would step down from his post in February to join a private infrastructure investment firm, some three years before the end of his term. Kim was first appointed by the Obama administration in 2012, on the recommendation of Clinton when she was secretary of state, and was reappointed by President Barack Obama in 2016 to serve a second five-year term.
The process of choosing a successor is being overseen by Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary, Mick Mulvaney, the acting chief of staff, and Ms. Trump, whose role in the process was announced by the White House on Monday.

The Do-Gooders' Billion Dollar Club
How would you like to hobnob with the ever charismatic, ever friendly President Bill Clinton at a gathering of power people? Meet First Daughter Chelsea Clinton on board the battleship Intrepid? Perhaps rub shoulders with Indian-American business superstars Indra Nooyi of PepsiCo and Ajay Banga of Mastercard? Chat with superstars like Mira Nair, Shabana Azmi or Jhumpa Lahiri? Pose for a picture with Miss America?
If you're on the gala fundraiser circuit in the US, you would have met them all - and helped raise millions of dollars too. While most elite private clubs exist to further networking, the remarkable thing about these Indian-American gatherings is that they don't monitor the graphs of big business or mergers but the potential of the human heart - the possibility of creating success for millions of under-privileged people.
ou could call these initiatives the Do-Gooders' Billion Dollar Club which through high profile events get high net worth individuals and corporations to write substantive checks for initiating change in the lives of the neediest in India. Several nonprofit organizations like AIF, Pratham USA and Aksha Patra exist in big cities like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago and help channel the wealth from Silicon Valley and Wall Street moguls to the villages and slums of India. While in India people generally tend to give individually to places of worship or personal causes, but once they come to the US they often adapt to this American way of raising money for charitable causes.
After all, America has a reputation for being the most generous nation in the world: according to Giving USA, Americans gave a whopping $298.3 billion in 2011 - the largest source of charitable giving came from individuals at $217.79 billion, or 73% of total giving; followed by foundations ($41.67 billion/14%), bequests ($24.41 billion/8%), and corporations ($14.55 billion/5%).
In fact, according to a study conducted by the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, it is estimated that charitable contributions will total between $21.2 to $55.4 trillion between 1998-2052. The figures of charitable giving in the US is equivalent to the GDP of some nations! We all recall Warren Buffett's gift of $43.5 billion in Berkshire Hathaway stock to charities, including $31 billion to Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the largest single charitable gift in history…..

The Board of Trustees of the WEF is composed of some of the powerful people in the world. Here are some of them.
- Mark Carney, Governor, Bank of England
- Al Gore, Vice-President of the United States (1993-2001); Chairman and Co-Founder, Generation Investment Management LLP
- Jim Yong Kim, President, World Bank
- Christine Lagarde, Managing Director, International Monetary Fund (IMF)
- Peter Maurer, President, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
- Indra Nooyi, Chairman, PepsiCo
- L. Rafael Reif, President, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
- Ursula von der Leyen, Federal Minister of Defence, Federal Ministry of Defence of Germany
- David M. Rubenstein, Co-Founder and Co-Executive Chairman, Carlyle Group
"Well, to get straight to the science, the principle of non-invasive neuromodulation is to focus ultrasound waves into a region in the brain so that they all gather in a small spot. Then hopefully, given the right set of parameters, this can change the activity of the neurons."
How dystopian could it get?
I can see the day coming where a scientist will be able to control what a person sees in their mind's eye, by sending the right waves to the right place in their brain. My guess is that most objections will be similar to those we hear today about subliminal messages in advertisements, only much more vehement.
This technology is not without its risks of misuse. It could be a revolutionary healthcare technology for the sick, or a perfect controlling tool with which the ruthless control the weak. This time though, the control would be literal.

The World Economic Forum Talks About "Mind Control Using Sound Waves"
The World Economic Forum (WEF) is one of the most influential elite organizations, alongside the Council on Foreign Relations, the Bilderberg group, and the Trilateral Commision. Every year, the forum brings together some 2500 top business leaders, international political leaders, economists, celebrities and journalists to discuss world issues.
The Board of Trustees of the WEF is composed of some of the powerful people in the world. Here are some of them.
Mark Carney, Governor, Bank of England
Al Gore, Vice-President of the United States (1993-2001); Chairman and Co-Founder, Generation Investment Management LLP
Jim Yong Kim, President, World Bank
Christine Lagarde, Managing Director, International Monetary Fund (IMF)
Peter Maurer, President, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
Indra Nooyi, Chairman, PepsiCo
L. Rafael Reif, President, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
Ursula von der Leyen, Federal Minister of Defence, Federal Ministry of Defence of Germany
David M. Rubenstein, Co-Founder and Co-Executive Chairman, Carlyle Group
In many ways, the WEF is similar to the Bilderberg Group. Interesting fact: Klaus Schwab, the Founder and Executive Chairman of the WEF is a former member of the steering committee of the Bilderberg Group.
Not unlike other powerful organizations that claim to "help the world", the WEF is accused of actually promoting the interests of the world elite.

Indra Nooyi is leaving PepsiCo on a high note
PepsiCo boss Indra Nooyi is leaving the snacks-and-soda giant on a high note, with the company posting a stronger-than-expected quarterly profit on her last day on the job.
Nooyi - a trailblazer who is among the few women of color who have helmed Fortune 500 companies - has spent much of her past 12 years as chief executive delving into healthier food categories to offset declining demand for sugary drinks and salty snacks.
Nooyi will step down as Pepsi's CEO on Wednesday, handing the reins to company president Ramon Laguarta. She will stay on as chairman until early 2019.

Interesting comment in the GP article re POTUS's idea about reducing the current quarterly reporting to the SEC from quarterly to bi-annually. Which is a GREAT idea btw, thanks to Indra Nooyi, who will step down in October after 24 years and as CEO at PepsiCo Inc. (hmmm, have we dug on her?) for suggesting it.
I'm a CPA and have worked as an Assistant to the CFO so I was responsible in getting the FS's to him for review, the quarterly reporting was such a hastle and so time consuming. It would greatly cut down on concentrating on reporting and rather, better time spent on analyzing and improving efficiencies and even fixing ERP system issues or consolidating issues, so many other things you could be working on to improve your business' efficiency and profitability.
However, back to the comment this Calamaty Jane made re PS's wife who is at the SEC.
I know we have done our work here digging on her. Maybe Jane got her comment from lurking on this board or reading our notables.
This is gonna be fun to watch!

Not sure if this came up here already or not-
Last night potus had a dinner with 15 top execs from all over the country, some of which started of as public critics of his.
Amongst the invited guests-
Alex Gorsky, CEO of Johnson & Johnson ( criticized Trump last year and announced his decision to step down from Trump's advisory council on manufacturing)
" PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi and Ernst & Young CEO Mark Weinberger - were reportedly weighing stepping down from a separate outside policy advisory group before the president announced that he was disbanding the councils.
Several Trump loyalists are also among the invitees to the dinner, including Continental Resources CEO Harold Hamm, Red Apple Group CEO John Catsimatidis and LeFrak CEO Richard LeFrak. Hamm, a vocal defender of Trump who has advised him on energy policy, donated $25,000 in May to a legal defense fund created for the benefit of White House aides.
Another attendee, FedEx CEO Fred Smith, also has close ties to Trump, even though he has criticized Trump's trade policies. Smith was among the business executives who attended a "Pledge to America's Workers" event last month at the White House, where he received repeated shoutouts from Trump.
Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg, who will also attend the dinner, has also courted Trump since he took office and regularly speaks with the president.
International Paper CEO Mark Sutton, another of the participants scheduled to attend Tuesday's dinner, condemned the violence that took place in Charlottesville in a statement at the time, but said he was remaining on Trump's manufacturing council.
Other attendees scheduled to attend Tuesday's dinner include Fiat Chrysler CEO Michael Manley, Mastercard CEO Ajaypal Banga, Boston Beer Company chairman Jim Koch, Honeywell CEO Darius Adamczyk, Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy and DocuSign chairman Keith Krach.

Trump praises 'loving' and 'caring' first lady Melania Trump at dinner for CEOs at his Bedminster golf club after predicting record-breaking GDP growth of more than 5 percent
President Trump held a dinner at his New Jersey golf club on Tuesday for business titans representing FedEx, Boeing, Pepsi and other major companies
Also hosted an oil and gas baron with an estimated net worth of $18.7 billion who was reportedly considered to be President Trump's energy secretary in 2016
First lady Melania Trump and Trump daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner were also present; so was Trump's chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow
President highlighted the first lady's popularity and bragged that America's GDP rate could top five percent in the next quarter
Claimed that steel factories are opening in America every day and gave himself a pat on the back for improved relations with North Korea
President Trump brought business titans from Pepsi to Fiat Chrysler and Boeing to his Bedminster golf club for a dinner on Tuesday.
Reveling in their attention, the president, bragged in front of reporters that the United States' GDP could top five percent in the next quarter. He predicted 'super growth' even after his chief economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, attempted to temper expectations.
'I think we're gonna be, very shortly in the fives. Again, numbers that people wouldn't have believed, I really think we can go much higher than in the fives, once we get trade deals that are rational and sane and good for our country,' Trump boasted. 'And not even good for our country, just fair for our country.'
The president allowed attending business leaders and his wife to take the floor one-by-one, praising the first lady midway through the event as 'caring' and 'loving' as he highlighted her approval rating.
'Well welcome to Bedminster. It's great to have to you have here,' she said after a round of applause. 'And we're looking for a good discussion tonight. And I just want to thank the president for doing an incredible job and for all of your help. Thank you very much.'
Her husband had made a joke moments earlier at the first lady's expense. Describing Pepsi's outgoing CEO, Indra Nooyi, he said she is routinely named one of the 'most powerful' women in the world.
No Melania, I'm not talking about you,' he jested.
Several minutes later he came back to his wife, though, offering her the ultimate compliment.
Referring to her as 'the great first lady' the president said, 'she has been so caring, so loving, so good to people, and you know I was in Ohio the other night, and there's so many signs, we love our first lady, we love our first lady.' He then invited her to stand.
The president also praised his daughter Ivanka's workforce initiatives with the senior White House staffer and her husband Jared Kushner present - neither of whom were invited to or volunteered to deliver remarks.

About the "Watch Your Head" snap. He obviously went out of his way to stage this and paint that message in red on the beam of the tent.
Want to mention about Comey
Not everyone might have seen this
He's putting signs out, like codes, foreshadowing the murder of President Donald Trump
These kinds of thing were done before they killed JFK, it's known among reseachers of that event. They foreshadowed it in little news bits, and even small ads. Of course that did not go on for too long before they got their way. Seems President Donald Trump has dodged the bullet several times already.
This explains their smugness. They believe they will succeed and / or have nothing to lose by acting as though they will be.
The Comey post referencing losing one's head was a notable a few days ago . And yesterday it was pointed out the Comey was in Canada at the time of the failed missile strike against what was thought to be AirforceOne
From yesterday.
I think it bears repeating.

oh so it could even be a Nuke threat.
refers to Whidbly Isle Naval Station, where the attack came from a few weeks ago?
Wow. He's quite bold.
Psychos are often high on bravado. Show off.
This was posted from CANADA on the day they tried to shoot down POTUS aircraft or the day before?
"This too shall Pass"
I wonder what that refers to and why he's so confident. Look at him walking like he's in charge of something. I thought he was "let go" and under investigation.
Isn't Whidbey island close to Canadian border?

PEPSI CEO ANNOUNCES SHE IS STEPPING DOWN THIS FALL
ADD HER TO THE LIST
PepsiCo CEO and chairman Indra Nooyi is stepping down after 12 years in the position, the beverage maker announced Monday.
PepsiCo CEO, one of the only minority women to lead a Fortune 100 company, announces she's stepping down this fall
Indra Nooyi, 62, will step down as PepsiCo CEO and Chairman on October 3
Indian-American Nooyi is only one of a handful of minority women at the helm of a Fortune 100 company
She has been in the position for 12 years and worked in the company for 24 years
Nooyi is credited with increasing PepsiCo's healthier beverage and food options
She also promoted corporate environmental sustainability and responsibility
She will hand over the reins to Ramon Laguarta, a PepsiCo veteran
PepsiCo CEO and chairman Indra Nooyi is stepping down after 12 years in the position, the beverage maker announced Monday.
Indian-American Nooyi, 62, is one of only a few minority women in a top leadership position at a Fortune 100 company.
'Today is a day of mixed emotions for me. @PepsiCo has been my life for 24 years & part of my heart will always remain here. I'm proud of what we've done & excited for the future. I believe PepsiCo's best days are yet to come,' Nooyi tweeted early Monday morning.
She will step down as PepsiCo's longtime chief executive officer on October 3, handing over the reins to company veteran Ramon Laguarta at a time the beverage maker navigates a shrinking global soda market.
Nooyi will continue holding her chairman position through early 2019 to 'ensure a smooth and seamless transition,' the company said in a statement.
Under Nooyi's 12-year tenure as CEO, she boosted sales of the Mountain Dew and Gatorade maker to $63.5billion, up 80 per cent from when she started. The company's share price has risen 78 per cent in the same period.
She is also largely credited with re-shaping Pepsi with tactical mergers, such as acquiring Quaker Oats - and its sports drink Gatorade brand - and shifting attention to healthier drinks, such as juices and teas, over sugary sodas.
In a statement, Ian Cook, presiding director of PepsiCo's Board of Directors, lauded Nooyi for 'leading the way on corporate sustainability and responsibility, and embedding a sense of purpose in everything the company does.'

Q Research General #3126: Pepsi says Nopesie to its CEO Edition
PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi to step down
PepsiCo has announced that CEO Indra Nooyi will step down on October 3 after 12 years as chief executive, though she will remain as the company's chair into early 2019. Nooyi, the company's first female CEO, will be succeeded by PepsiCo's current president Ramon Laguarta.
Why it matters: Nooyi is one of Corporate America's most visible, outspoken female CEOs - and her departure is sure to highlight the lack of women occupying the top spot in boardrooms around the country.

PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi stepping down
FBN's Dagen McDowell on Pepsi naming Ramon Laguarta to replace Indra Nooyi as its CEO.
PepsiCo said Monday its CEO, Indra Nooyi, would step down after 12 years in the position, and named President Ramon Laguarta as her successor.
Nooyi will step down Oct. 3 after serving 24 years - the past 12 as chief executive - with the company and will remain chairman until early 2019, the company said.
"Growing up in India, I never imagined I'd have the opportunity to lead such an extraordinary company," Nooyi said in a statement. "Guided by our philosophy of Performance with Purpose - delivering sustained performance while making more nutritious products, limiting our environmental footprint and lifting up all the communities we serve - we've made a more meaningful impact in people's lives than I ever dreamed possible. PepsiCo today is in a strong position for continued growth with its brightest days still ahead."
Laguarta has been with the PepsiCo for 22 years, becoming president in 2017 where he oversaw global operations, corporate strategy, public policy and government affairs. He previously served as CEO of PepsiCo's Europe Sub-Saharan Africa division and president of the company's Eastern Europe region.
"Ramon Laguarta's unanimous appointment follows a systematic and thorough succession process by the Board of Directors. Laguarta equally represents continuity and the necessary agility for PepsiCo," said Daniel Vasella, chairman of the board's Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

So we note BCG is connected to McKinsey so who is McKinsey?
It seems that McKinsey is the company that produces the most CEOs of Fortune 500 firms according to an article on Forbes, but it is interesting to note that only one in six new hires at McKinsey actually stays with the firm for more than 5 years.
So who are the 10 Distinguished McKinsey Alumni

No sleep since drop.
Did Forbes respond to this yesterday?
"The likes of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, and PepsiCo chair and CEO Indra Nooyi have claimed to be able to perform at their best with significantly fewer than the eight hours a night that experts say people need to stay healthy."

Not necessarily interesting, however this article sheds light on the fact there is a Rotschild on the nomination board of the RBG Award
Diane von Furstenberg Will Receive the 2022 Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Woman of Leadership Award
Diane von Furstenberg has been named the 2022 recipient of the Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Woman of Leadership Award. The designer, who honored the late justice in 2020 with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the DVF Awards, will be presented with the award during a formal ceremony and gala at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., in March.
"Ruth Bader Ginsburg represents everything I admire," said von Furstenberg in an announcement about the award. "She was the embodiment of justice, strength and character. To get an award in her name is a great honor."
The RBG Award was established in collaboration with the Dwight D. Opperman Foundation in 2020 to recognize the service of exceptional women. Von Furstenberg is joining an elite list: the inaugural recipient was Agnus Gund, who was followed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2021.
The award's five-person voting council includes David Rubenstein and former PepsiCo chief executive officer Indra Nooyi, and the nominating committee includes Adrienne Arsht, Martha Minow, Lionel Richie,James Rothschildand Martha Stewart. The Opperman Foundation also sponsors the Edward J. Devitt Distinguished Service to Justice Award.
