Left-Wing Celebs Completely Silent on Eric Swalwell Sexual Assault Allegations, with One C-List Exception. April, 11, 2026
Hollywood celebrities who have been vocal in the "MeToo" and "Time's Up" movementshave stayed conspicuously quietin the first day since several women accused Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) of unwanted sexual advances and even rape.
Top figures in the MeToo movement - Alyssa Milano, Gwyneth Paltrow, America Ferrera, Neve Campbell, and Lady Gaga, to name a few -have failed to make any public statement on the Swalwell accusations.
Women who were prominent in the "Time's Up" campaign - Shonda Rhimes, Reese Witherspoon, Eva Longoria, Natalie Portman, Amber Tamblyn, and Emma Watson -also have had nothing to say.
And various entertainers who are usually active on social media, sharing hot takes on breaking news,have ignored the burgeoning Swalwell scandal- which has massive implications for the California gubernatorial race, where many of them live. Kathy Griffin, Paul F. Tompkins, Mara Wilson, Diedrich Bader, Duncan Jones, Michael Ian Black, George Takei, Mark Ruffalo, Daryl Hannah, Jon Cryer, Mia Farrow, Morgan Fairchild, Scott Derrickson, Ben Stiller, Tom Morello, John Leguizamo, Conan O'Brien, Carrie Coon, Henry Winkler, and Lizzo -celebs who are known to take shots at conservatives whenever possible- have all been active on social media since a wave of stories were published in local media and CNN,without so much as mentioning Rep. Swalwell or the women accusing him.
A lone exception to this cone of silence has been actor Ethan Embry, who recently was featured in Scream 7. On the left-wing echo chamber BlueSky,
Embry lamented the factthat Swalwell's alleged misconduct has been anopen secret in Washington, D.C., for a long time.
"So when you're one of the 430 +/- most powerful people in the country," Embry wrote, alluding to Swalwell's position in the House of Representatives,"being a philandering heavy drinker... with rumoredfar more serious accusations, that's an acceptable norm to the ruling class? As long as you don't aim for the top 50 seats==, they'll support you?"
He continued, "The accusations and nowtrickles of 'so many knew this' are just disgusting." Embry explained that Democrats' apparent coverup of hisscandals "cements my belief that there's no separation between" the major political parties- thus, the United Statesis "ruled by a uniparty."
According to the New York Post, various A-listers contributed to Swalwell's gubernatorial campaign earlier this cycle, including Robert De Niro, Sean Penn, Jon Hamm, Jon Cryer, Kathy Griffin, Jane Fonda, and Rob Reiner before his shocking murder.

'It Is Intelligently Controlled': Famous Actor Gets Pulled Into Private Signal Chat. Then He's Told A GIant Object Is Headed Toward Earth In 2027

A famous actor and comedIan has the internet talking after alleging that he heard a planet-sized object is heading toward Earth.
Michael Ian Black, formerly of The State and presently a panelist on Have I Got News for You, recently gave an interview to the Vetted podcast. In the interview, he revealed some startling information.
According to Black, he "became friendly with somebody in the UFO community." Consequently, he was invited to a small Signal chat to discuss UFO news and information. For context, Signal is an encrypted private messaging app.
"Over the course of 18 months or so, this story begins to emerge from the person who invited me in that there is an object. It's planet-sized. It's coming from out of our solar system into our solar system.
It is decelerating. It has been decelerating for a couple of years, I think, at that point. And, it's expected to enter our solar system around 2027," Black states.
The biggest bombshell? "It's intelligently controlled."
Black then says he was provided with an image of the mysterious object.
"It was gray, it was round, it could have been anything," he states.
Initially, Black says he expressed skepticism about this story.
"As soon as I heard 'planet-sized,' I was like, 'Wait, that doesn't make any sense to me at all, because it seems to me if you have a planet-sized object entering your solar system, other planets are gonna feel that. Like, we're gonna see that.
It's gonna show up," he says. "Then again, just because something's planet-sized doesn't mean it has planet-sized mass. So, I don't know."
Black then references a video released by ufologist Jeremy Corbell. In this video, Corbell states that the governments of the world would soon be pushing a lie that "there's an object approaching Earth, and it'll be here in 2027."
Black isn't sure what to make of this, but he calls it "a huge data point."
In a blog post, Black stated that he tends to favor Corbell's explanation.
"I don't know who's telling the truth about this, but I'm going to apply Occam's Razor here and say it's far more likely that somebody wants to convince people about an imminent alien incursion than there actually being an alien incursion.
So I'm siding with Corbell on this one," Black writes.

Suzanne Venker's recent opinion piece on FoxNews is very, very important, because she points out that almost all of the most recent deadly mass shooters have one thing in common: fatherlessness.
She begins by pointing out a tweet after the terrible shooting in Florida last week. Actor and comedIan Michael Ian Black began a series of tweets in this way, "Deeper even than the gun problem is this: boys are broken."
Venker goes on to describe how his "tweet storm" strayed from the truth:
Unfortunately, Black quickly veered off course. "Men don't have the language to understand masculinity as anything other than some version of a caveman because no language exists...The language of masculinity is hopelessly entwined with sexuality, and the language of sexuality in hopelessly entwined with power, agency, and self-worth...To step outside those norms is to take a risk most of us are afraid to take. As a result, a lot of guys spend their lives terrified...We're terrified of being viewed as something other than men. We know ourselves to be men, but don't know how to be our whole selves. A lot of us (me included) either shut off or experience deep shame or rage. Or all three. Again: men are terrified."
Mr. Black is not the first to attack masculinity and suggest it's at the root of all evil. Indeed, the phrase 'toxic masculinity' has become boilerplate language in America.
It's not a hard sell, either. After all, it is boys and men who are typically to blame for violent acts of aggression. Ergo, testosterone-the defining hormone of masculinity-must be to blame. But testosterone has been around forever. School shootings have not.
Mr. Black is correct that boys are broken. But they're not broken as a result of being cavemen who haven't "evolved" the way women have. They're broken for another reason.
They are fatherless.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has told parliament that he expects all remaining COVID restrictions in England to be lifted by the end of the month.
Britain's Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has said that he expects all remaining Chinese Coronavirus restrictions in England - including those to do with self-isolation - to be lifted by the end of the month, provided current "encouraging trends" continue regarding the disease.
Johnson made the comments during this week's session of Prime Minister's Questions, during which the premier came under opposition pressure for the ongoing "partygate" scandal, as well his handling of inflation and rising energy prices.
According to a report by Sky News, the Prime Minister told parliament that he expected all of England's COVID rules to be rolled back one month earlier than initially planned.
"Providing the current encouraging trends in the data continue, it is my expectation that we will be able to end the last domestic restrictions, including the legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive, a full month early," the publication reports Johnson as telling the House of Commons, with cheers erupting inside parliament.
An end to rules requiring individuals with COVID to self-isolate had previously been expected to expire on March 24.
The PM's announcement has been met with some positivity.
According to Sky News, Johnson's former Brexit Minister, Lord David Frost, has welcomed the announcement.
"The PM's plan to end all COVID restrictions a month early is the right thing to do and is extremely welcome," Frost - who harshly criticised the UK government's "coercive policies on COVID" in the past - said.
"I hope the government will also make clear we will not go down the road of coercive lockdowns EVER AGAIN," he continued.
However, another story that emerged parallel to the lockdown announcement is a new "partygate" picture of Johnson dropping during Wednesday's Prime Minister's Questions.
The image, published by tabloid outlet The Mirror, appears to show Johnson at an event on December 15, 2020, standing in the same room as an open bottle of sparkling wine.
"It looks a lot like one of the Christmas parties he told us never happened," left-wing labour MP FabIan Hamilton told parliament. "Will the Prime Minister be referring this party to the police, because it is not one of the ones that are already being investigated?"
Johnson responded to the Labour MP saying that he was "completely in error" regarding "what he has just said".
While some have been trumpeting the new image, others have not paid it much heed.
For example, Johnson's former chief advisor, Dominic Cummings, did not seem impressed by the new image, writing online that "there's waaaaay better pics than that floating around".
Suggestions regarding the PM's announcement being another "Red Meat" policy have also been floated.
The term is in reference to the so-called "Operation Red Meat", which is reportedly designed around announcing highly popular policies - such as scrapping the BBC tax or deploying the Navy to help deal with the ongoing Channel Migrant crisis - in order to rescue Boris Johnson's premiership.
Today's announcement - which was made as pressure mounts against the British premier over a number of scandals - mirrors greatly the previous announcement made last month that England would have almost all of its lockdown restrictions relaxed, which came shortly after the so-called "pork pie putsch" against Johnson became known to the public.
"It's amazing how much energy this Prime Minister can sum up when it comes to saving his own skin," remarked the Scottish National Party's Ian Blackford on ongoing events - including a recent mini cabinet reshuffle - during Wednesday's parliamentary session.

POWELL RIVER, British Columbia (LifeSiteNews) - A CanadIan provincial Supreme Court judge has ruled that lawyers are not allowed to ask potential jurors if they have received COVID-19 vaccinations.
Crown prosecutors had sought permission to request that the vaccination status of individual jurors be made known to the public as part of a given trial. According the CanadIan Blacklock's Reporter, the Justice who oversaw the ruling, Geoffrey Gomery, stated that the request was not acceptable because the issue was "private and personal."
Gomery wrote that "panelists might well have reasons to wish not to discuss their vaccination status in public in the intimidating environment of a courtroom." In the estimation of the judge, disclosing personal medical information is inappropriate.
According to the judge, courts have taken what health officials consider the necessary precautions to avoid a COVID-19 outbreak. Various measures have been put in place, including distancing measures and plastic dividers.
Gomery stated that "until quite recently it could be assumed most jurors were unvaccinated," and that he cannot recall a single outbreak "that has been traced to the conduct of a criminal or civil trial."
The judge not only mentioned the fact that the risk for jurors is negligible, but also that if a panelist worried about the risk of fulfilling jury duty given the precautionary measures already in place, he "would have excused them in any event."
At the time of the publication of Justice Gomery's statements, it was not yet the case that federal agency had mandated the COVID-19 vaccine for employees. That changed on Friday, August 13, when Canada's Transport Minister Omar Alghabra declared that all federal workers will be required to be jabbed by October. Even travelers who are not employees will be expected to be vaccinated or produce a negative test, in order to travel with the country of Canada by air or any other interprovincial travel mechanism regulated by the federal transportation authority.
Conservative candidate Erin O'Toole has expressed his opposition to mandated vaccines for domestic CanadIan travelers. He said, "vaccines are not a political issue. To try and make them one is dangerous and irresponsible."
However, O'Toole has also said prefers a regular rapid testing regime to keep workplaces safe from COVID-19. O'Toole believes that vaccine mandates are not acceptable, but that CanadIans who choose not to take the vaccine will still need to participate in some sort of testing procedure in order to travel the country by way of a federally regulated industry.
This is not the first time that a government-regulated industry has been told it must comply with a vaccination requirement from Public Health. In 2018, the Ontario Nurses' Association won a decision on the controversial vaccinate or mask policy, striking down the policy in effect at St. Michael's Hospital and several other hospitals that form the Toronto Academic Health Science Network. Nurses could have been forced to don a mask if they chose not to vaccinate.
A similar case was won for Ontario nurses in 2015, as well. The arbitrator of the 2015 decision stated that "the mask requirement amounts to compulsory disclosure of personal medical information."
Consistent in each decision, as well as in the recent decision by Justice Gomery, is that the medical privacy of the individual is reason enough to reconsider mandating vaccines for government employees, including jurors.

The tracking data of two NATO warships was faked off the coast of a RussIan controlled naval base in the Black Sea while the actual ships were moored 180 miles away, USNI News has learned.
The U.K. Royal Navy's HMS Defender, a Type-45 Daring-class destroyer, and the Royal Netherlands Navy's HNLMS Evertsen, a De Zeven Provinciën-class frigate, pulled into Odessa in Ukraine on June 18. The group had been monitored by RussIan warships while exercising in the Black Sea, according to U.S. Navy photos dated on June 17.
According to an automatic identification system (AIS) signal, which transmits position details to improve maritime safety, the pair left Odessa just before midnight on June 18. The data shows that they sailed directly to Sevastopol, approaching to within two nautical miles of the harbor entrance. The strategic port houses the headquarters of Russia's Black Sea fleet.
Despite the AIS track, there is clear evidence that the two warships did not leave Odessa. Live webcam feeds show that they did not leave Odessa, however. This was anyway the known situation in defense circles, and local media. Anyone in Odessa can see that they did not leave. The webcams are broadcast live on YouTube by Odessa Online. Screenshots archived by third party weather sites like Windy.com show the two warships present in Odessa overnight.
Positioning two NATO warships at the entrance at the entrance of a major RussIan naval base would be widely seen as a provocative action, based on conflicting claims of sovereignty . Most of the international community, including the U.S, Britain and the Netherlands, do not recognize Crimea as part of Russia.
While the motives for the deception are unclear, the move raises questions about the efficacy of open-source intelligence data, such as AIS, which is becoming more common in both defense and by journalists. There is compelling evidence that the AIS tracks were faked. NATO representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment and the tracks were confirmed as false by Dutch naval warfare news site Marineschepen.nl.
The AIS positions were shared with AIS aggregator MarineTraffic.com by a receiver station in Chornomorsk, close to Odessa. Other AIS aggregators also reported the false positions. HMS Defender was shown under the credentials that she is currently using, IMO 4907878. HNLMS Evertsen was reported as "Netherlands Warship," MMSI 244942000. It is unclear how the false AIS data was introduced to the feed.
Both Defender and Evertsen are part of CSG21, the carrier strike group centered around HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08). The main body of CSG21 has remained in the Mediterranean, while the two warships temporarily deployed to the Black Sea, where they have been performing freedom of navigation missions and exercising with allies. They have visited Turkey and Ukraine and will also exercise with Romania and Georgia. They have also met with the U.S. Navy's Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Laboon (DDG-58).

In August 2013, Paul Ainslie attended and spoke at an event to unveil the bronze sculpture of Layton at Toronto's Jack Layton Ferry Terminal.
At the time, Ainslie commented the statue "enhanced" the city and was a "positive" message to TorontonIans.
"We are pleased to see this area enhanced by the infusion of art," Councillor Ainslie remarked at the unveiling.
"This sculpture and message work together to create a positive greeting to all enjoying our City's waterfront parks and Islands."
At the time, Ainslie made no comment about equal representation or the need to diversify Canada's image.
True North reached out to Ainslie to inquire whether he supported equal representation in public art or memorials but did not hear back by the time this article was published.
On May 5, the Toronto City Council unanimously passed Ainslie's motion entitled "Diversification of Depictions on CanadIan Coins and Bills to better reflect a more Heterogeneous and Inclusive Society."
"In the pursuit to better reflect a more heterogeneous and inclusive society this Motion speaks to our currency being overrepresented by politicIans, most of whom are white and male, underrepresenting persons who have contributed to other fields of great importance to our society," Ainslie's motion says.
"Our currency does not reflect our current multiracial, gender diverse and multicultural reality as a nation."
Canada's currency already features several depictions of women including Queen Elizabeth II and CanadIan Black rights activist Viola Desmond, who was added to Canada's $10 bill in 2016.

Ainslee also cites the fact that although much of Canada's currency features a woman, Queen Elizabeth II, Ainslee notes that it is "due to her position as Head of State, and not because she is a woman."
In 2016, the Bank of Canada revealed a new $10 bill featuring CanadIan Black rights activist Viola Desmond.
The Bank of Canada website claims that change was made to highlight "the diverse and important contributions women have made in shaping Canada's history."
Currency is not the only thing on Toronto's social justice chopping block. Recently, the city put out a job advertisement to hire Museum coordinators in order to "decolonize" the city's museum system.

The SNP's legion of losers are to share a huge taxpayer-funded pot of cash thanks to generous new rules on MPs' winding-up pay, put in place for the General Election.
Former MPs will now be paid by the House of Commons for an additional four months instead of the previous two, while they close their offices and manage the departure of their staff.
MPs receive a basic annual salary of ?91,346, which means each will pick up ?30,448 in gross pay - or around ?21,180 after tax. The 'golden goodbyes' are now paid to both those who who lost their seats AND those who chose to stand down at the election, such as Mhairi Black and Ian Blackford.
Nine SNP MPs announced they were standing down in advance, with a whopping 25 losing their seats during the electoral bloodbath in the early hours of July 5. They will share ?1,035,232 in taxpayer-funded winding-up payments.
In addition, those MPs who elected to stand again and then lost their seat will receive a FURTHER redundancy cheque known as a loss-of-office payment (LOOP), which is at least twice the statutory redundancy pay which is capped at ?21,000.
Each LOOP is calculated individually, based on factors including age and length of service. And MPs will only be eligible for a loss-of-office payment if they have held office for a continuous period of at least two years at the point they lose their seats.
Winding-up payments were doubled in August 2023 after a ruling from the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA), which governs MPs' pay and expenses.
The change also extended the perk to MPs who chose to stand down, although politicIans who quit Westminster early, such as Boris Johnson, are still not eligible. Some 132 MPs chose to stand down this year, including a Tory exodus featuring the likes of Alister Jack, Theresa May and Michael Gove.
Mr Jack is among the handful of Tory and Alba politicIans in Scotland who will also benefit from the new winding-up arrangements. When the new rules were announced last year, John O'Connell, chief executive of the TaxPayers' AllIance, said: "Doubling golden goodbyes for MPs is a kick in the teeth for taxpayers."
He added: "Hard-pressed Brits are already funding generous salaries, perks and pensions for elected officials. IPSA should be mindful of that when recommending more taxpayers' money for politicIans."
Bob Seely, the former Tory MP for the Isle of Wight - who has now lost his seat to Labour - also criticised the move. "I don't think people resigning should be getting a payout," he told TalkTV, adding: "It really winds me up, frankly."

Discussion between John Swinney and Kate Forbes to carve up the SNP leadership contest started even before Humza Yousaf had announced his resignation. Mr Swinney will take the reins 20 years after being ousted from the role after Ms Forbes announced she would not enter the race on Thursday.
While nominations remain open until Monday, no other candidate is expected to come forward. Mr Swinney's coronation will pave the way for him to become first minister on Tuesday, bringing to an end the chaotic 13-month premiership of Mr Yousaf.
The outgoing Nat leader saw his position become untenable after sacking the Scottish Greens from government last week. He faced a no confidence vote at Holyrood and spent the weekend desperately trying to save his job.
However, by Monday morning it became clear he would not enjoy the support of parliament while his authority over his own party was in tatters. It has now emerged the Swinney and Forbes camps had started communicating over the weekend in an attempt to avoid a bruising leadership battle.
The Times reports proxies for the pair opened talks on Sunday. Discussions continued with the party's former party leader at Westminster Ian Blackford and former defence spokesman Stewart McDonald seemingly playing key roles in smoothing the path to Mr Swinney's coronation.
Civil servants were told on Wednesday to prepare for a new first minister next week, a clear indication that SNP bosses were confident a contest would be avoided. Ms Forbes was physically absent from much of the main events on Thursday after her young daughter had a minor accident on Wednesday and had to go to hospital.
Sources close to the Forbes camp say the Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch MSP believed she could have won a contest with Mr Swinney. However, she was aware a second defeat in little over a year could be fatal to her hopes of ever leading the party.
An insider said: "She reckoned she could have given it a good go and could have won. But given the scale of the challenge to the party she didn't feel it was the right time. It's time to unify." Other sources have said she would have run against anyone else by Mr Swinney, who spent over eight years as deputy first minister under Nicola Sturgeon, and was playing a "slightly longer game".
Critics accused Ms Forbes of 'caving in' to pressure from the Nat establishment not to stand. Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross said: "Kate Forbes famously warned that 'continuity won't cut it' when it came to Humza Yousaf, yet she's now urging the SNP to go back to the future by imposing John Swinney - a failed former leader, tied at the hip to Nicola Sturgeon - as First Minister.
"Scotland deserves better than someone whose fingerprints are all over 17 years of SNP failure and secrecy. John Swinney has confirmed, via his campaign slogan, that he will ignore the public's real priorities to obsess about independence yet again."

Questions are being asked about an SNP event where Stephen Flynn, Kate Forbes and Stewart McDonald got together just five days Humza Yousaf tore up the Bute House Agreement.
The alleged plotting is said to have taken place in the low-key setting of Scotstounhill Bowling Club in the Glasgow suburb of Anniesland on the evening of Friday, April 19. The event was held to endorse Carol Monaghan as the Glasgow West candidate.
Ms Forbes and Glasgow South MSP Mr McDonald were advertised as special guests several months in advance, along with Anniesland MSP Bill Kidd. But Mr Flynn, who represents Aberdeen South, was only added on April 16. On social media, one person suggested it was a "last minute line-up change to plot Humza's downfall".
It came as the simmering tensions between some SNP politicIans and the Scottish Greens were about to boil over, brought to a head by the Cass Review into gender services for children and the decision to ditch net zero targets. Just hours before the get-together in the bowling club bar, the Greens had announced a vote on ending the Bute House Agreement.
Mr Flynn was already known to be quietly fuming at the deal, with Green opposition to the North Sea oil and gas industry causing huge damage the SNP's electoral chances across the North-East. Like Ms Forbes, he is ferociously ambitious, relatively young (she is 34, he is 35) and likely to spend years at the top of the party.
Two days after the Anniesland gathering, Patrick Harvie gave the extraordinary BBC interview in which he repeatedly refused to accept the findings of Dr Hilary Cass and her team of medical experts, who spent four years putting together their report. This may have been just the trigger the plotters had been waiting for…
By Wednesday, April 24, Mr Flynn was in Edinburgh for a meeting with the First Minister. He is said to have urged Mr Yousaf to chuck the Greens out of government before the party's lentil-munching members could vote to terminate the BHA, arguing that failing to do so would make him look weak.
The SNP leader ended the coalition the following morning - fatally underestimating the spiteful response from Mr Harvie, Lorna Slater and Ross Greer. With the eight Green MSPs threatening to support a vote of no confidence, Mr Yousaf was forced to turn to Alba's Ash Regan in order to save his political career. However, for reasons that are yet to be fully explained, he then rejected her offer of support and instead decided to resign on Monday, April 29.
It has now been revealed that Ms Forbes and John Swinney held discussions about the party leadership on the day BEFORE Mr Yousaf's resignation. The Times reports that Mr McDonald and the SNP MP Ian Blackford acted as proxies for the pair, with Ms Forbes eventually agreeing to stand aside in exchange for a plum cabinet post.
'I think she's going to have an incredibly bright future'
Meanwhile, Mr Flynn - who is now being tipped for a switch to Holyrood in 2026 - showered Ms Forbes with praise even as he publicly urged her not to stand against Mr Swinney. Hinting at a future leadership contest between them, he said: "So, I've got a huge amount of respect for Kate, I think she's phenomenally talented and she's going to have an incredibly bright future. But one of the reasons I'm not putting myself forward is because I'm 35 years old and I've got a lot of experience still to gain."
Suggestions of a plot to topple Mr Yousaf - also involving Nicola Sturgeon, who still wields huge influence in the SNP and is said to have torpedoed any allIance with Alex Salmond and the Alba Party - have been swirling around in nationalist circles all week. Some have even claimed that the outgoing FM's strong stance on the war in Gaza (not to mention his dallIance with Turkish leader Erdogan) was the motivation for "the powers that be" to act against him.
There are even extraordinary claims that the political manoeuvres in Glasgow and Edinburgh were in some way connected to the British-American Project, which is run from the US Embassy in London. It seeks to strengthen links between the US and the UK and counter anti-American sentiment among the British left.

SNP politicIans and high-profile supporters have called for a cartoon published in The Times to be "taken down" and an apology issued by the newspaper.
The satirical take by Peter Brookes CBE, who has won British Press Awards cartoonist of the year eight times, shows Alex Salmond, Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf hanging from a noose fashioned from the SNP logo. John Swinney is walking into frame, saying: "I'm the continuity candidate."
As we reported earlier, Scots journalist Andrew Neil praised the 'toon on X as "brillIant" - and if he was hoping for a reaction from the SNP, then he got one. Veteran MP Pete Wishart replied: "This is the level of unionist discourse just now. Absolutely disgusting and we deserve so much better than this."
SNP member Kelly Given, who is frequently called on to defend the party on BBC Scotland, responded: "Not brillIant. So many activists and elected politicIans recieve[sic] daily threats to their safety and security, and at times, threats to their life. This is distasteful and should be removed and an apology issued."
Former SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford also chimed in, tweeting: "Satire and cartoons are part of our political life and of course this can be edgy. However this crosses a line, it is offensive and does nothing to foster respectful debate. I am surprised by @thetimes who should both withdraw and apologise for this."
And East Renfrewshire MP Kirsten Oswald also called for The Times to somehow remove the cartoon from the Internet. She tweeted: "This is horrific. So far beneath the bottom of the barrel. Should never have been published. Needs taken down now."
However, several critics called her out for her lack of contrition when appearing at a pro-trans rally in Glasgow last year when she was pictured in front of a sign reading 'Decapitate Terfs' with a crude drawing of a guillotine.
Scottish Daily Express commentator Alan Grant said: "Personally, I'm ok with both. But then I'm not an insipid hypocrite who only pretends to believe in free speech when it suits me."
Brookes posted the image on his own X account, leading to a flood of complaints with dozens of people saying they had reported him to the press watchdog Ipso. One person even tagged in Police Scotland.

Kate Forbes is reportedly considering a second tilt at SNP leadership as allies fear a "Anyone But Kate" campaign is being orchestrated against her. The former finance secretary only narrowly lost out to Humza Yousaf last year in the race to replace Nicola Sturgeon.
The Highlands MSP has remained influential among Nat MSPs while on the back benches after she rebuffed attempts by her former rival to serve as rural affairs secretary. And she refused to be drawn on speculation when she posted about the first minister on social media.
She wrote: "As First Minister @HumzaYousaf cared passionately about Scotland. Few of us will forget his statesmanship and compassion on Gaza. He is an honourable man, who displayed dignity and humility today. I wish him and Nadia well with their impending new arrival in the summer."
But as the SNP start to make manoeuvres on who will replace the first minister, a number of big names have already backed former leader John Swinney. The likes of potential contenders Neil Gray and Jenny Gilruth have thrown their backing behind him, as has Westminster leader Stephen Flynn and predecessor Ian Blackford.
We previously told how he informed journalists that he would consider taking the top job and has been labelled as the only Nat politicIan who will be able to unite non-party MSPs behind a minority government. And now that SNP's "old guard" want to install him as well.
The same situation happened last year when Ms Sturgeon's close allies backed Mr Yousaf to replace her, and he eventually won the contest, only to resign just over a year later about a shambolic time in Bute House. And it looks like the SNP "old boys club" are aiming to do similar again.
According to the Scotsman's Alistair Grant, SNP MSP Michelle Thomson, who ran Ms Forbes' leadership campaign, says she understands that the former finance secretary is giving "serious consideration" to standing again. SNP MP Joanna Cherry hit out at the attempts to "stitch up" Mr Yousaf's replacement.
She said: "As Humza, who should be thanked for his service, will remain FM until we have a new leader there is no need for an unseemly rush by the (old) boys club to stitch up the succession. The leader of the SNP should be chosen by our members not by men in grey suits."
SNP veteran Fergus Ewing also backed his Highlands colleague: "Kate Forbes has the biggest majority of any MSP. If any other candidate is chosen because the Greens say they won't work with Kate Forbes - we're actually allowing the Green party to determine who the next first minister will be, that's surely absurd.
"PoliticIans should work together far more than they do. Most of the political agreements seem to be more about theatre than substance. There's no doubt in my mind that the people in the leadership of the other main parties - Tory, Liberal and Labour - respect Kate Forbes. They will trust her, they will work with her."
But supporters of the former finance secretary are concerned by the potential rebirth of the "Anyone But Kate" which was launched last year to help Mr Yousaf to victory, and was co-ordinated by the "SNP old guard" who were Sturgeonites.

The SNP's former Westminster leader, Ian Blackford, has sparked fury within the party over an audacious bid to enter the House of Lords. The MP for Ross, Skye and Lochaber - who recently dumped his loyal wife of 24 years for his childhood sweetheart - has approached both Labour and the Tories to ask them to nominate him for a peerage, despite the SNP's fierce opposition to the Lords, according to the Mail on Sunday.
A number of sources close to Mr Blackford have confirmed that he has privately met Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and the Conservative Secretary of State for Scotland, Alister Jack, in a bid to secure a nomination. They fear that his manoeuvres, in flagrant defIance of the SNP's policy to abolish the Lords, also informed his decision to abstain on a vote of no confidence in Commons speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle amid the Gaza furore earlier this year.
Concerns were raised that he failed to vote with his own party in a bid to impress Sir Keir.
Mr Blackford - a former banker who once described himself as a simple crofter - has denied having the meetings. However, sources insist that he has.
Now his future as a Nat politicIan is hanging in the balance as he could face losing the whip. He is to stand down as an MP at the next general election. One source told The Mail on Sunday: "Trying to get a peerage is completely at odds with the SNP's stance on the unelected House of Lords. [Westminster leader] Stephen Flynn has stated that no SNP MP will enter the House of Lords under his watch."
Another senior insider, who confirmed Mr Blackford's conversation with Mr Jack and expressed incredulity at his shameless attempts to continue his life in Westminster, added: "What Ian Blackford is doing is so wrong. He should lose the whip."
A third source said: "He asked Sir Keir Starmer to include him on his honours list, but Sir Keir was incredulous and responded saying, "Why would I nominate you instead of a Labour MP?' He is desperate for a peerage despite constantly denying it.
"He even went to Alister Jack to ask the Tories to list him, but Jack said "no chance". It is pretty pathetic."
In January, Mr Blackford reportedly told an event for student journalists that he would not rule out accepting a place in the upper chamber if he was offered one.
Mr Blackford said on Saturday night: "The House of Lords is an archaic and undemocratic institution - I wholeheartedly support the SNP's longstanding position."

Unlike the wild and romantic fantasies of the white right, who are hoping that in some moment of reckoning, shock and awe will trigger a collective uprising, the reality is that the wheel will simply advance, and crush the insects slowly as they crawl desperately forward to eke out the sun. Functionally the deprivation of the right to self-defence, the covert support for land seizures, the protection of the Cape gangs, the destruction of the Ingonyama Trust, and the use of state-driven land expropriation, are all one plan. The crushing of all opposition to a totalitarIan Black supremacist empire, a blood- and shit-smeared Bantu Imperialism. PM Expects End to ALL Remaining COVID Restrictions, Including Self-Isolation Orders, by End of this Month
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has told parliament that he expects all remaining COVID restrictions in England to be lifted by the end of the month.
Britain's Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has said that he expects all remaining Chinese Coronavirus restrictions in England - including those to do with self-isolation - to be lifted by the end of the month, provided current "encouraging trends" continue regarding the disease.
Johnson made the comments during this week's session of Prime Minister's Questions, during which the premier came under opposition pressure for the ongoing "partygate" scandal, as well his handling of inflation and rising energy prices.
According to a report by Sky News, the Prime Minister told parliament that he expected all of England's COVID rules to be rolled back one month earlier than initially planned.
"Providing the current encouraging trends in the data continue, it is my expectation that we will be able to end the last domestic restrictions, including the legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive, a full month early," the publication reports Johnson as telling the House of Commons, with cheers erupting inside parliament.
An end to rules requiring individuals with COVID to self-isolate had previously been expected to expire on March 24.
The PM's announcement has been met with some positivity.
According to Sky News, Johnson's former Brexit Minister, Lord David Frost, has welcomed the announcement.
"The PM's plan to end all COVID restrictions a month early is the right thing to do and is extremely welcome," Frost - who harshly criticised the UK government's "coercive policies on COVID" in the past - said.
"I hope the government will also make clear we will not go down the road of coercive lockdowns ever again," he continued.
However, another story that emerged parallel to the lockdown announcement is a new "partygate" picture of Johnson dropping during Wednesday's Prime Minister's Questions.
The image, published by tabloid outlet The Mirror, appears to show Johnson at an event on December 15, 2020, standing in the same room as an open bottle of sparkling wine.
"It looks a lot like one of the Christmas parties he told us never happened," left-wing labour MP FabIan Hamilton told parliament. "Will the Prime Minister be referring this party to the police, because it is not one of the ones that are already being investigated?"
Johnson responded to the Labour MP saying that he was "completely in error" regarding "what he has just said".
While some have been trumpeting the new image, others have not paid it much heed.
For example, Johnson's former chief advisor, Dominic Cummings, did not seem impressed by the new image, writing online that "there's waaaaay better pics than that floating around".
Suggestions regarding the PM's announcement being another "Red Meat" policy have also been floated.
The term is in reference to the so-called "Operation Red Meat", which is reportedly designed around announcing highly popular policies - such as scrapping the BBC tax or deploying the Navy to help deal with the ongoing Channel Migrant crisis - in order to rescue Boris Johnson's premiership.
Today's announcement - which was made as pressure mounts against the British premier over a number of scandals - mirrors greatly the previous announcement made last month that England would have almost all of its lockdown restrictions relaxed, which came shortly after the so-called "pork pie putsch" against Johnson became known to the public.
"It's amazing how much energy this Prime Minister can sum up when it comes to saving his own skin," remarked the Scottish National Party's Ian Blackford on ongoing events - including a recent mini cabinet reshuffle - during Wednesday's parliamentary session.

The tracking data of two NATO warships was faked off the coast of a RussIan controlled naval base in the Black Sea while the actual ships were moored 180 miles away, USNI News has learned.
The U.K. Royal Navy's HMS Defender, a Type-45 Daring-class destroyer, and the Royal Netherlands Navy's HNLMS Evertsen, a De Zeven Provinciën-class frigate, pulled into Odessa in Ukraine on June 18. The group had been monitored by RussIan warships while exercising in the Black Sea, according to U.S. Navy photos dated on June 17.
According to an automatic identification system (AIS) signal, which transmits position details to improve maritime safety, the pair left Odessa just before midnight on June 18. The data shows that they sailed directly to Sevastopol, approaching to within two nautical miles of the harbor entrance. The strategic port houses the headquarters of Russia's Black Sea fleet.
Despite the AIS track, there is clear evidence that the two warships did not leave Odessa. Live webcam feeds show that they did not leave Odessa, however. This was anyway the known situation in defense circles, and local media. Anyone in Odessa can see that they did not leave. The webcams are broadcast live on YouTube by Odessa Online. Screenshots archived by third party weather sites like Windy.com show the two warships present in Odessa overnight.
Positioning two NATO warships at the entrance at the entrance of a major RussIan naval base would be widely seen as a provocative action, based on conflicting claims of sovereignty . Most of the international community, including the U.S, Britain and the Netherlands, do not recognize Crimea as part of Russia.
While the motives for the deception are unclear, the move raises questions about the efficacy of open-source intelligence data, such as AIS, which is becoming more common in both defense and by journalists. There is compelling evidence that the AIS tracks were faked. NATO representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment and the tracks were confirmed as false by Dutch naval warfare news site Marineschepen.nl.
The AIS positions were shared with AIS aggregator MarineTraffic.com by a receiver station in Chornomorsk, close to Odessa. Other AIS aggregators also reported the false positions. HMS Defender was shown under the credentials that she is currently using, IMO 4907878. HNLMS Evertsen was reported as "Netherlands Warship," MMSI 244942000. It is unclear how the false AIS data was introduced to the feed.
Both Defender and Evertsen are part of CSG21, the carrier strike group centered around HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08). The main body of CSG21 has remained in the Mediterranean, while the two warships temporarily deployed to the Black Sea, where they have been performing freedom of navigation missions and exercising with allies. They have visited Turkey and Ukraine and will also exercise with Romania and Georgia. They have also met with the U.S. Navy's Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Laboon (DDG-58).

Charles Bolden talked about his experiences as an astronaut and his current duties as NASA administrator. He discussed some of the more than 100 missions he flew over North Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia during his career as a Marine pilot flying the A-6 Intruder. He recounted the improbability of an African American being accepted into the U.S. Naval Academy in a time of racial segregation in his home state of South Carolina. He spoke about his final mission into space and the unlikely friendships that he developed with the two RussIan astronauts who flew with him. Other topics included the NASA budget, the space shuttle program, and the international space station.
