MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. The US is recruiting jihadist fighters to carry out terrorist attacks on the territory of Russia and the CIS countries, the press bureau of the Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) told TASS on Monday.
"According to credible information received by the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, the US military is actively recruiting militants from jihadist groups affiliated with the Islamic State (IS, a terrorist organization outlawed in Russia - TASS) and al-Qaeda (banned in Russia - TASS) to carry out terrorist attacks in Russia and CIS countries," the statement said.
Sixty such terrorists with combat experience in the Middle East were selected this year in January.
According to the SVR, they are undergoing a fast-track training course at the US base in Syria's Al-Tanf, where they are being taught how to make and use improvised explosive devices, as well as subversive methods. "Particular emphasis is paid to planning attacks on heavily guarded facilities, including foreign diplomatic missions," the Foreign Intelligence Service said.
The SVR stressed that the US was planning to send terrorists in small groups. "In the near future, there are plans to deploy militants in small groups to the territory of Russia and the CIS countries. They will be tasked with plotting and carrying out terrorist attacks against diplomats, civil servants, law enforcement agents and servicemen," the statement said. According to the US plot, they will conduct this scheme in cooperation with clandestine cells of international terrorist groups, such as Hizb ut-Tahrir, Jamaat Ansarullah and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (outlawed in Russia).
The SVR also reported that special attention was paid to the involvement of natives of the Russian North Caucasus and Central Asia. All this demonstrates the complete loss of any moral principles in the US security services. "Obsessed with the insane idea of 'exsanguinating' Russia, Washington's experts consider it acceptable to use terrorists directly for their own dirty purposes. Such actions put Washington on a par with major international terrorist groups," the SVR concluded.

Yes, Sadiq Khan sucked up to extremist Muslims in the past, but, still, congratulations are in order for him-and the voters.

I've known Sadiq Khan since 2002 when he was my lawyer while I served as an Islamist political prisoner in Egypt, before he became a Member of Parliament. I'm forever indebted to him for visiting me in Mazra Tora prison, while the world gave up on me.
Due to this history, many in the press asked me for my view on the veracity of the "Islamist" allegations surrounding the new mayor, but I refused to make my views known until after the elections. Yes, this conversation needed to be had, but I preferred to have it only when the tribalisms of left and right, of Muslim and non-Muslim, were left firmly at the door. Election season made that almost impossible.
Sadiq Khan is no Muslim extremist. And it is not only his track record voting for gay rights that proves this.Having known him when I was a Muslim extremist,I know that he did not subscribe to my then-theocratic views.
Many conservatives who desperately opposed Khan jumped the shark when they called him a "radical Islamist," and linked him to sensationalist headlines that declared he had a "hardcore Islamist past." Nuance is the friend of truth.
On the other hand many Muslims, and those on the left, preferred to bury their heads in the sand, chastising anyone who dared to challengeKhan on his past Islamist relationships,as "racists." See no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil. The Regressive Left's overuse of the word racism on such matters is as unhelpful as the Populist Right's overuse of the word "extremist."
And in deference to the seriousness of the subject, and the lives lost over it, what came up about Khan's alleged links to extremists is pertinent. Those questions needed to be asked. I cannot emphasize enough that I write as a liberal, who voted for a Liberal Democrat in this race, and not as a conservative. So now that the election is over, and London has its first Muslim mayor, let us step back and consider the smoke to this conservative fire.
The seeds were sown with Khan's now-former in-laws. During London's '90s Islamist heyday, Khan's brother-in-law Makbool Javaid was affiliated and listed as a spokesman to the now-banned terrorist group al-Muhajiroun, founded by the hate preacher Omar Bakri Muhammad, and then led by the infamous fanatic Anjem Choudary. I knew of Makbool back then, too. His brothers were colleagues of mine, affiliated to my former extremist organization, Hizb ut-Tahrir.
Through such connections Khan ingratiated himself in the London Islamist scene. In 2003, he appeared at a conference alongside Sajeel Abu Ibrahim, a member of that same banned al-Muhajiroun.

PA mufti expelled from prayers at al-Aqsa for not supporting Hamas, Gaza
Protesters shouted slogans in support of Hamas and denounced the Palestinian Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, for his affiliation with the Palestinian Authority.
In an unprecedented move, Muslim worshipers on Friday expelled Palestinian Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Mohammed Hussein from al-Aqsa Mosque and prevented him from completing his sermon.
The protesters shouted slogans in support of Hamas and denounced Hussein for his affiliation with the Palestinian Authority.
Hussein is considered the most senior representative of the PA at al-Aqsa Mosque compound. A resident of east Jerusalem who holds an Israeli-issued ID card, Hussein often appears next to PA President Mahmoud Abbas at public events.
The protesters accused Hussein of "ignoring" Hamas and the Gaza Strip and forced him to stop his sermon.
"We are the men of Mohammed Deif," hundreds of angry worshipers shouted as bodyguards whisked the mufti away from the mosque.
Deif is the supreme commander of Hamas's military wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
Other worshipers shouted: "Go away, go away, we don't want to see the dogs of the Palestinian Authority."
The incident came shortly after tens of thousands of Palestinians celebrated at al-Aqsa Mosque compound what they called Hamas's "victory" against Israel during the last round of fighting.
At the end of the celebration, dozens of youths threw rocks and petrol bombs at police officers, who entered the compound and responded with rubber bullets, tear gas and stun grenades.
Palestinian medics said at least 20 people were injured during the clashes.
The assault on the mufti of Jerusalem came after weeks of pro-Hamas rallies at al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
During the rallies, which began at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan and spread to other parts of Jerusalem and the West Bank, thousands of worshippers chanted slogans in support of Hamas and called on the Gaza-based terrorist group to fire rockets at Israel.
In some instances, they also chanted slogans accusing the 85-year-old Abbas of being a US "agent" and an Israeli "collaborator."
On the last Friday of Ramadan, thousands of worshippers raised Hamas flags and placed posters of the group's leaders in many areas of the compound. Posters of Hamas leaders Deif, Ismail Haniyeh, Khaled Mashaal, Yahya Sinwar have also appeared on the walls of several neighborhoods in east Jerusalem.
Some activists belonging to Abbas's Fatah faction who tried to remove the Hamas flags and posters were beaten by Hamas supporters.
The pro-Hamas rallies are seen by Palestinians as a sign of the erosion of the influence of the PA and Jordan over the Aqsa Mosque compound on the Temple Mount.
The Islamic Waqf Department, which is in charge of administering the site, belongs to the Jordanian government. But the PA and other parties, including the Islamic Movement in Israel and Hizb ut-Tahrir (Party of Liberation) also have their representatives at the site.
In the past, senior PA officials who visited al-Aqsa Mosque were also attacked by protesters who accused them of being "traitors" for their alleged readiness to make peace with Israel and for the ongoing security coordination between the Palestinian security forces and the IDF in the West Bank.
PA officials condemned the attack on Hussein and praised him for his "defense" of the mosque against Israeli "aggression." The officials pointed out that the mufti had played a major role in the 2017 protests that reportedly forced Israeli authorities to remove the metal detector gates they installed at one of the entrances to the compound.
PA Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said that the attack on the mufti was an "assault on the holy sites and national unity."
Mahmoud al-Habbash, religious affairs adviser to Abbas, denounced the assailants as "mercenaries working to serve the agenda of the occupation."

A member of the Ukrainian "volunteer" battalion who fought in the region of Donbass in eastern Ukraine was killed in northern Syria.

In 2016, it was reported that a group consisting of Crimean Tatars was formed within Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (the new brand of Jabhat al-Nusra). Abdul-Ilgiz al-Kerim started his international terrorist career in this unit.

SIMFEROPOL, Crimea (AFP-Jiji) - Russian authorities in annexed Crimea raided the homes of Muslim Tatars Wednesday and detained at least 20 people suspected of belonging to a banned Islamist group ahead of this week's presidential vote in Ukraine.
Supporters decried the latest act of "intimidation" against members of the ethnic group, most of whom oppose Russia's annexation, and said the raids were among the largest in recent years.
Washington said it was "extremely concerned" by the arrests.
Most Crimean Tatars have refused to renounce their Ukrainian citizenship and some are planning to vote in the first round of Sunday's presidential poll.
In a statement, Russia's FSB security service said it had searched the homes of suspected members of the Hizb-ut-Tahrir group.
"Twenty of its rank-and-file members and leaders have been detained," the FSB said after conducting raids with police and other law enforcement agencies.
Hizb-ut-Tahrir (Party of Liberation) seeks to reestablish a Caliphate - a pan-Islamic state based on Islamic rule harking back to medieval times - and has been banned in Russia since 2003.
The FSB accused members of the organization of seeking to promote "an ideology based on terrorism" and recruit other Crimean Tatars. The security service claimed it had seized materials proving individuals' links to the banned group.
Lawyer Emil Kurbedinov said 23 people had been detained in large-scale raids that involved hundreds of FSB officers and other law enforcement agents.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has done legal work for numerous Islamic radicals, including convicted 9/11 terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui.
Zacarias Moussaoui is a Morrocan who was born in France and was arrested while taking flight lessons in Norman, Oklahoma in 2001. The US government believes that Moussaoui trained in Afghanistan and was sent to the USA as a replacement highjacker for either Ramzi Bin al-Shibh and Mustafa al-Hawsawi. Both of those men had been denied entry into the United States.
Khan was a legal consultant for Moussaoui and worked with his mother in France to strategize a legal defense. Moussaoui's mother claimed that he was not radical, never received training from any militant group, and was instead the lifelong victim of racist persecution for being Morrocan.
However, this is not all.
Sadiq Khan once traveled to Egypt to defend three members of the ultra-radical Salafist group Hizb-ut-Tahrir. The group is banned in Egypt. The three men traveled from Britain to Egypt and were charged with trying to re-establish an Egyptian chapter. They were sentanced to prison for five years each.
Sadiq Khan also defended Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. He had been banned from entering the United Kingdom. Khan got the ban overturned.
Does it seem like a coincidence that Sadiq Khan just happened to be a lawyer for all these radicals?

PA mufti expelled from prayers at al-Aqsa for not supporting Hamas, Gaza
Protesters shouted slogans in support of Hamas and denounced the Palestinian Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, for his affiliation with the Palestinian Authority.
In an unprecedented move, Muslim worshipers on Friday expelled Palestinian Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Mohammed Hussein from al-Aqsa Mosque and prevented him from completing his sermon.
The protesters shouted slogans in support of Hamas and denounced Hussein for his affiliation with the Palestinian Authority.
Hussein is considered the most senior representative of the PA at al-Aqsa Mosque compound. A resident of east Jerusalem who holds an Israeli-issued ID card, Hussein often appears next to PA President Mahmoud Abbas at public events.
The protesters accused Hussein of "ignoring" Hamas and the Gaza Strip and forced him to stop his sermon.
"We are the men of Mohammed Deif," hundreds of angry worshipers shouted as bodyguards whisked the mufti away from the mosque.
Deif is the supreme commander of Hamas's military wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
Other worshipers shouted: "Go away, go away, we don't want to see the dogs of the Palestinian Authority."
The incident came shortly after tens of thousands of Palestinians celebrated at al-Aqsa Mosque compound what they called Hamas's "victory" against Israel during the last round of fighting.
At the end of the celebration, dozens of youths threw rocks and petrol bombs at police officers, who entered the compound and responded with rubber bullets, tear gas and stun grenades.
Palestinian medics said at least 20 people were injured during the clashes.
The assault on the mufti of Jerusalem came after weeks of pro-Hamas rallies at al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
During the rallies, which began at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan and spread to other parts of Jerusalem and the West Bank, thousands of worshippers chanted slogans in support of Hamas and called on the Gaza-based terrorist group to fire rockets at Israel.
In some instances, they also chanted slogans accusing the 85-year-old Abbas of being a US "agent" and an Israeli "collaborator."
On the last Friday of Ramadan, thousands of worshippers raised Hamas flags and placed posters of the group's leaders in many areas of the compound. Posters of Hamas leaders Deif, Ismail Haniyeh, Khaled Mashaal, Yahya Sinwar have also appeared on the walls of several neighborhoods in east Jerusalem.
Some activists belonging to Abbas's Fatah faction who tried to remove the Hamas flags and posters were beaten by Hamas supporters.
The pro-Hamas rallies are seen by Palestinians as a sign of the erosion of the influence of the PA and Jordan over the Aqsa Mosque compound on the Temple Mount.
The Islamic Waqf Department, which is in charge of administering the site, belongs to the Jordanian government. But the PA and other parties, including the Islamic Movement in Israel and Hizb ut-Tahrir (Party of Liberation) also have their representatives at the site.
In the past, senior PA officials who visited al-Aqsa Mosque were also attacked by protesters who accused them of being "traitors" for their alleged readiness to make peace with Israel and for the ongoing security coordination between the Palestinian security forces and the IDF in the West Bank.
PA officials condemned the attack on Hussein and praised him for his "defense" of the mosque against Israeli "aggression." The officials pointed out that the mufti had played a major role in the 2017 protests that reportedly forced Israeli authorities to remove the metal detector gates they installed at one of the entrances to the compound.
PA Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said that the attack on the mufti was an "assault on the holy sites and national unity."
Mahmoud al-Habbash, religious affairs adviser to Abbas, denounced the assailants as "mercenaries working to serve the agenda of the occupation."

Police could soon have the power to reject protests that stretch over months, as a clearly frustrated NSW Premier Chris Minns decried the more than $5m spent on controlling pro-Palestine rallies and attacked the leader of the protest movement as a "professional demonstrator".
The move came after hundreds of police were deployed at rallies and vigils in Sydney on Sunday and Monday on the anniversary of the October 7 Hamas atrocities in Israel.
The protests were largely peaceful after police issued strong warnings not to bring the flag of the Hezbollah terrorist group, but two men were arrested for displaying swastikas superimposed on the Israeli flag.
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke is considering cancelling the visa of US-based academic Khaled Beydoun in the aftermath of the protests, after the Arizona State University law professor declared at Monday's Hizb ut-Tahrir-associated rally in Sydney's southwest that the October 7 terrorist attacks were "a good day" for Palestinian people.
"Today is not a day that is full of mourning, today is a day that marks celebration," Mr Beydoun said.
Late on Monday evening, Mr Burke announced that "as soon as I heard about these comments I asked my department to conduct a visa check".
Mr Minns backed the visa review as "completely appropriate", while contemplating changes to the way such events are approved and revealing the $5.4m bill for policing the protests to date.
"The cost is huge ... so I'm going to have a review into the resourcing that police put into these marches, and it's my view that police should be able to deny a request for a march due to stretched police resourcing," he said.
Police were burnt out and tired, he added, and other important work had had to be sidelined.
"I think taxpayers should be in a position to say we would prefer that money spent on roadside breath testing, domestic violence investigations, knife crimes, rather than the huge resources that's going into the city and the community."
"Our resources are being stretched; it costs millions of dollars to police and marshal these protests and it's completely reasonable for the police to take that into consideration when Form 1 applications are lodged with the courts," Mr Minns said.
"Ultimately, this is a huge drain on the public purse".
The Premier hit out at Josh Lees, a leading member of the Palestine Action Group who has lodged weekly applications for the past year to march in Sydney since the October 7 Hamas atrocities in Israel, agreeing with the description of the activist as a "professional protester".
Mr Lees writes for Red Flag, the outlet of Socialist Alternative, which declares itself "Australia's largest Marxist group", and regularly calls for the overthrow of capitalism.
He was also a leader of the Lockdown to Zero movement, demanding that the then- Berejiklian government maintain strict Covid-19 lockdowns and branding the loosening of restrictions as "an offensive against the working class" by "the rich and powerful".
Mr Lees has also been spokesperson for the Refugee Action Coalition, organising protests at the 2011 ALP National Conference against then-prime minister Julia Gillard's asylum-seeker policies.
The former University of Sydney tutor was arrested during the "Occupy Sydney" movement that camped outside the Reserve Bank in Martin Place in 2011, clashing with police during a Hyde Park rally and at the Martin Place encampment.
After police broke up the protest, Mr Lees claimed police brutality. "I woke to see about 200 riot police surrounding our protest camp ... physically removing people, using painful wrist-locks, and occasionally throwing punches, one of which left a protester in front of me bleeding", he said. Charges against Mr Lees and other protesters were later dropped.
Mr Minns emphasised he was not seeking changes that would affect union protests or industrial disputes, but police should be in a position to deny repeat applications for marches through Sydney if they didn't have the resources to deal with it.
"If you were putting on a rock concert on the weekend, you would have to pay NSW police to keep the public safe - this all comes from NSW taxpayers' back pockets."
NSW Opposition Leader Mark Speakman called on Mr Minns to immediately implement a user-pays system for serial protesters, with a general rule against authorisation if organisers of repeat protests failed to meet the costs.

Hizb ut-Tahrir are registered as a terror organisation in the United Kingdom and Germany, but the Albanese government has resisted calls to follow suit. In May, some of its activists infiltrated the University of Sydney's pro-Palestine encampment.
The group's Australian arm has formally partnered with the rally - Stand for Palestine have made efforts to claim the two groups are not linked - which was first advertised by Mohammad Al-Wahwah, another administrator of the Stand for Palestine WhatsApp group and a relative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Australia founder Ismail Al-Wahwah.
Stand for Palestine's Telegram group is administered by a Tunisian Hizb ut-Tahrir activist.
Hizb ut-Tahrir organised the now-infamous Lakemba rally the day after Hamas' attacks, where fireworks were set off and Sheik Ibrahim Dadoun - a frequent speaker at the group's events - said he was "elated", telling a crowd that October 7 was a "day of courage". He later claimed his words were taken out of context.
Hamas killed about 1200 people and took 250 taken hostage on October 7, which also included rape and beheadings. The attack sparked an Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip that has since killed about 42,000 Palestinians, according to Hamas-run Gazan health officials.
When asked about the sheik's involvement, given his comments last year, Mr Minns said hate speech would not be tolerated.
"We cannot allow a situation where hate or anti-Semitism creeps into public discourse," he said.
"If there's any (criminality) breaches in protests, in public sermons, in speeches over this weekend, it will be met with very strict laws in relation to hate speech."
But Opposition home affairs spokesman James Paterson said the government had "emboldened" extremist organisations and October 7's rallies.
"This event is deliberately provocative, deeply offensive and should not go ahead," the senator said.
Road closures are in place for the rally, which was also promoted by Faraz Nomani, another Hizb ut-Tahrir and Stand for Palestine activist.
Jewish leaders have said that they don't oppose protests, but urged activists to hold rallies around, not on, October 7.
Mr Minns warned of a "high prospect of conflict" across the next 72 hours, backing the police's move to oppose the October 6 and 7 rallies planned by the PAG.
The premier said the PAG's assertion that Monday's vigil had been approved were untrue and if it turned into a rally it would be met with an "overwhelming police response"
The PAG abandoned attempts to "authorise" Monday's event, meaning that while the vigil could proceed, those attending would not have protection from offences such as trespassing.
The premier, who met faith and Lebanese leaders this week, hit out at the PAG's organisers, accusing them of not representing the communities on behalf of whom they are protesting.
But the PAG's organisers have criticised the response from the premier and police, saying people had a "right to mourn".
Prominent Lebanese Muslim community leader Jamal Rifi said his community backed the calls for safety and harmony, urging protesters to avoid Hezbollah flags, but that legal demonstrations allowed people to "overcome their helplessness" about what was happening in Lebanon.

NSW Police assistant Commissioner Peter McKenna said there appeared to be "goodwill" from the organisers and he hoped there'd be no issues, but that if people arrived with the "wrong intentions" and committed any offence police would take "appropriate action".
"I wouldn't speak for the prime minister, I'll speak for myself as a police leader… I'm apolitical and (the police) are there for public safety," he said.
On Thursday, a Hizb ut-Tahrir front, Stand for Palestine, advertised its "rally for Palestine and Lebanon", taking place outside Sydney's Lakemba Mosque on Monday.
The rally would send a "defiant message", the group said, who are also suggesting it's endorsed by about 40 Islamic organisations, including the Lebanese Muslim Association and the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils, two of Australia's largest and most influential.
Sheiks and community leaders will address the rally, and there'll also be a form of Islamic prayer for people killed.
The Muslim Vote, a new political group aiming to topple Labor and which is now co-ordinating pro-Palestine independent Ziad Basyouny's campaign, are also listed as rally partners.
It's convener, Sheikh Wesam Cherkawi, is billed to speak at the event alongside Amer al-Wahwah, a regular Hizb ut-Tahrir speaker and administrator of its Stand for Palestine WhatsApp group.
NSW Premier Chris Minns said while he and police knew of the rally he had not been aware of Hizb ut-Tahrir's involvement, standing firm in his belief of its "inappropriateness".
"To hold a rally on the day when people were massacred is grossly insensitive, in my opinion," he said, adding of most concern remained the CBD rallies due to their proximity to "sensitive areas".

Radical preachers and Hizb ut-Tahrir attacked Australia's democracy and The Muslim Vote campaign at sermons in southwest Sydney last week, where they told attendees "we want to get to a position where Muslims have power" so that sharia law could be implemented.
The Australian revealed Abu Ousayd told a congregation "prime ministers are false gods ... (and we should) not join and not vote", while prominent Hizb ut-Tahrir member Wassim Doureihi said democracy could "not be an option" for the Muslim community. The comments follow the group expressing support for Hamas and openly backing the killing of ex-Muslims.
A spokesman for Home Affairs Minister Clare O'Neil said the government would await advice from security agencies and did not commit to listing Hizb ut-Tahrir as a terror organisation.
"Our intelligence and security agencies are constantly monitoring all threats to safety in our country and if they make a recommendation about listing a group or taking any other kind of action our government will take advice on those recommendations," the spokesman said.
Despite not moving to list the group as a terror organisation, the government spokesman said Hizb ut-Tahrir represented "fringe views" that did not reflect those of the wider Muslim community.
Opposition home affairs spokesman James Paterson said Hizb ut-Tahrir should be listed as a terror group.
He said the views expressed by Hizb ut-Tahrir were dangerous and could lead to further extremism. "Democracies are fragile and can fracture, even in countries like Australia with a proud democratic history. It's critical that we channel people's legitimate aspirations for policy change through the political system," he said.
"It is dangerous to tell any part of our community that they can't be heard through the democratic process because that fosters disenfranchisement and that can lead to extremism. Political leaders should call out this toxic behaviour whenever it arises."
Hizb ut-Tahrir's criticism of democracy represented an attack not only on the government, but the teal-style movement, The Muslim Vote, which seeks to galvanise Muslim constituents behind independents who are pro-Palestinian and reflect the communities' view. "If (a Muslim) enters parliament and is sworn in ... they ?become apostates," Mr Ousayd said.
The Muslim Vote takes its name from the UK political movement that cost the Labour Party several seats at the election.
Mr Doureihi said politicians were "criminals in suits" and called Muslim senator Fatima Payman the "white man's Orientalist fantasy".
"(The senator's) experience has shown us that engaging in the political process is not an option for (the community)," he said.
Senator Payman resigned from the Labor Party last month after crossing the floor to vote with the Greens on a motion to recognise Palestinian statehood. It came after Senator Payman echoed the controversial chant of activists: "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free".
Just one day after the sermons by Hizb ut-Tahrir members criticising democracy, the group hosted an event at Bankstown public library where its leaders said former Muslims should be executed.
Vision from the event, first broadcast by Seven News, shows leaders questioned whether they wanted to kill ex-Muslims, to which one replied "In Islam (it is) clear that apostates do attract capital punishment, we don't shy away from that".

Mr Ousayd, who is the subject of a racial vilification complaint at the Australian Human Rights Commission, criticised The Muslim Vote's leadership, claiming that "wicked scholars" were trying to "whisper doubts" to young Muslim voters.
At Hizb ut-Tahrir's event, Mr Doureihi warned democracy could "not be an option" for the Muslim community.
"They (politicians) look down on sharia, they want to secularise us," he said, claiming that democracy could do "serious harm" and was "violently concocted" in ?Europe.
"If any Muslim engages in the political process, do you think by that point they are still carrying Islam? Or that there's anything meaningful left in their Islam?"
Mr Doureihi said Muslim representation in parliament was ?"tokenistic" and "hollow", pointing to Senator Payman's suspension and resignation.
"Your job as a Muslim MP is to smile at the cameras, but don't think that you have any contribution," he said.
"That's not your job ... (it is so the government) can lie that they accept people of all backgrounds."
He criticised mainstream ?Islamic leaders who had been prominent in countering violent extremism; Sheik Charkawi, for example, played a key community deradicalisation role at the height of ISIS.
Mr Doureihi said it was "no conspiracy" that those same ?people were supportive of democracy. "Those people leading efforts then are now at the forefront of trying to get Muslims engaged in democracy," he said.
He alleged a "pillar" of counter-extremism efforts was "inclusion in the democratic process", a method he claimed sought to usurp Islam with elected politicians.
Mr Ousayd and his centre, and Hizb ut-Tahrir's Australia-based group, remain on the fringes, ?although both have large social-media followings and speak regularly to substantial crowds.
In 2022, Labor's Ed Husic and Anne Aly became the first Muslim federal ministers in Australian history while NSW Emergency Services Minister Jihad Dib was sworn in on the Koran upon ?appointment last year, also a historic first.
Hizb ut-Tahrir have re-emerged into the public sphere after the October 7 attacks in Israel, notably as part of pro-Palestine university camps.
Mr Doureihi's rejection of democracy aligns with Hizb ut-Tahrir's, which released a statement claiming Muslim participation in recent British and upcoming American elections would give those systems false legitimacy.
But it stands in contrast to other Hizb ut-Tahrir supporters, including its regular speaker Sheik Ibrahim Dadoun, who called October 7 a day of "victory" and has expressed his support for The Muslim Vote.
Group activist Mohammad ?Alwahwah told a Lakemba crowd last month that great mass movements never came at the ballot box. "(Large) movements were never gained by voting ... (but) through mass movement of ?people on the ground," he said.

Radical preachers and extremist organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir have attacked Australia's democracy and The Muslim Vote campaign, calling it a "shirk" and an insult to Allah, at sermons in southwest Sydney, the geographical heart of a community-led Muslim political movement.
Abu Ousayd, also known as Wissam Haddad, and Hizb ut-Tahrir's Australian branch took to pulpits in Sydney's Canterbury-Bankstown area on Friday to call Muslims in parliament "apostates" and order their followers to boycott elections.
They also criticised the Muslim Vote's leadership for its historical deradicalisation efforts and current political participation, with Mr Ousayd signalling he wanted an ?alternative route to power where Muslims could make sharia the dominant form of law in Australia.
"The system is always going to fail if it is not Allah's," Mr Ousayd said.
"We want to get to a position where Muslims have power (so that) we can implement more of the (way) in sharia."
Prominent Hizb ut-Tahrir member Wassim Doureihi told his own audience on Friday that it was "not conspiratorial" to suggest that mainstream leaders who led counter-extremist efforts during the height of ISIS - an effort he criticised - were democracy's biggest supporters.
At Hizb ut-Tahrir's headquarters in the electorate of Workplace Relations Minister Tony Burke, Mr Doureihi slammed politicians as "criminals in suits" and called Muslim senator Fatima Payman the "white man's Orientalist fantasy".
"(The senator's) experience has shown us that engaging in the political process is not an option for (the community)," he said, claiming Muslims would be at an "inevitable loss" if they took part.
Hizb ut-Tahrir is recognised as a terrorist organisation in Britain and Germany, although the Albanese government has resisted calls to do the same in Australia.
It comes amid - and stands in contrast to - The Muslim Vote, a community campaign spearheaded by respected Sheik Wesam Charkawi to oust Labor ministers across southwest Sydney and elect pro-Palestine independent candidates.
Senator Payman is not associated with any group or political ?alliance, including The Muslim Vote, and has previously said she would be an independent voice for Western Australia as a crossbencher after abandoning Labor over Palestine.
The Australian revealed how the Muslim Vote campaign had struggled to cement candidates it would endorse in target seats, but last week it ran two volunteer workshops, telling supporters that after a year of preparation it was "ready to launch".
The Muslim Vote has electorally targeted Blaxland and Watson, held by Education Minister Jason Clare and Mr Burke respectively.
It is within those two electorates where Mr Ousayd and Mr Doureihi urged their separate congregations to shun the Muslim Vote and ballot box, but whose anti-democratic calls have since been condemned.
Mr Burke said Mr Ousayd's al-Madina Dawah and Hizb ut-Tahrir were "fringe" and most of the electorate wouldn't know of, hear or respond to their words.
"Australia is a strong democracy and that's a good thing ... Attempts to undermine our democracy stand condemned," he said.
Mr Clare has previously criticised the "hateful" rhetoric of Mr Ousayd, who told his Blaxland electorate audience sharia was "perfect in every way" while tricksters peddled democracy.
"Every four years they come to us with a new magic trick to convince you to take part in the shirk of democracy," Mr Ousayd said.
(Shirk is sin in the Islamic faith, broadly meaning polytheism.)
"Sharia (law) is the greatest ... there is no need for it to be changed or compromised."
Although the al-Madina Dawah Centre and Hizb ut-Tahrir are not linked, one of the organisations' regular speakers, preacher Mohammed Trad, joined the anti-democratic chorus, calling democracy "an illusion" and voting "delusional".
He is not the same person as a leader of the same name who works for the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils.
On Friday, Mr Ousayd - who has boasted of his friendship with men who fought for ISIS - said democracy "opposed Allah".
"If (a Muslim) enters parliament and is sworn in ... they ?become apostates," he said.
"Prime ministers are false gods ... (we should) not join and not vote."

The Prime Minister on Monday said no individual was "bigger than the team" and that the resolution the senator supported did "nothing to advance the peace process".
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 29 of the 151 federal electorates have 5 per cent or more people of the ?Islamic faith - 27 of those 29 seats are held by Labor.
Of those 29, 16 are held by Labor on margins of 10 per cent or more, and at the previous election the party suffered primary vote swings against it of up to 18.5 per cent.
A separate group called Muslim Votes Matters has launched a similar campaign targeting Labor-held seats with a "Gaza scorecard".
It is also recruiting volunteers, but has stopped short of calling for candidates. On Sunday, it held its Victoria launch at the Melbourne Grand Mosque.
Sheik Charkawi registered the Muslim Vote's website ?domain in December - under IPBL College, an incorporated association he runs - and the list of backing organisations has not been updated, although it said it was supported by groups that "enjoy the support of hundreds of thousands of Muslims".
Those organisations, and the campaign's link - if any - to a seemingly UK-based sister organisation remains unclear.
It shares a near-identical website, and content and brand identity, to its British equivalent - also called the Muslim Vote and is endorsing pro-Palestine candidates for that country's general election. It was co-established by Muhammad Jalal, who has expressed his support for the Australian campaign
Mr Jalal, a politics lecturer, crunched the numbers for the UK Muslim Vote campaign and was the leader of the British chapter of Hizb ut-Tahrir between 2000 and 2005, but has had nothing to do with that group since 2008 and does not share some of its recent views.
Sheik Charkawi is not part of Hizb ut-Tahrir, and The Australian is in no way suggesting he is.
However, Sheik Ibrahim Dadoun, a Hizb ut-Tahrir backer, who was filmed on October 8 saying he was "elated" - he has said he had been misquoted - is involved in the campaign.
Whether formally or as a supporter, Sheik Dadoun, at the campaign's December establishment encouraged volunteers to get involved.
"Reach out if you're interested (in joining)," he said.
The Muslim Vote campaign was contacted for comment.

In parliament earlier this month, Labor and the Coalition accused the Greens of lending support to sections of the pro-Palestinian movement that have blockaded and vandalised MPs' offices.
Labor pointed to footage of Greens senator Mehreen Faruqi encouraging protests outside of Albanese's office as proof of the party's support, but the Greens argued Labor had misled the public to distract from criticism about its response to Israel's military campaign in Gaza.
Greens leader Adam Bandt condemned the overnight attack on social media. He did not mention antisemitism.
"Violence has no place in our community & vandalism and damage like this are completely unacceptable," Bandt said. "My thoughts are with Josh Burns, his team, and the local community. They have the right to feel safe."
Burns has been one of Labor's most pro-Israel voices. He criticised the Albanese government's decision to vote for greater rights for Palestine at the United Nations as he fights to stave off a Greens challenge in his progressive electorate which has a large Jewish population.
This masthead reported earlier this week on vandalism at Melbourne University's Baillieu Library inspired by Lions' Den, a Palestinian militant group that operates in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, and attempts by the Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir to infiltrate pro-Palestine protests at universities. It is not suggested that either group had anything to do with the office attack.
Former treasurer Josh Frydenberg, who recently led a Sky News documentary on antisemitism, said political leaders and law enforcement had not done enough to counter violent activism. Nobody has been arrested over a series of attacks on Labor MPs' offices.
Frydenberg said a "mob" had "free rein since October 7 to act in a violent, hateful and un-Australian manner".
"It is not just the Jewish community that is under attack its Australia's social cohesion that is under attack and the very values that underpin it. This is Australia's fight," he said.
Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-CEO Alex Ryvchin said he was devastated, describing Burns as one of the most decent people he knew.
"Zionism is the idea that the Jews are a people bound by their history, their culture and traditions and have a right, like all peoples, to choose to live in peace in their own homeland. Josh is proudly Jewish and this is why he was targeted," Ryvchin said.

But what is Hizbu tahrir?
The Muslim Brotherhood on the religious level supports the return to the Koran, while on the social level it calls all Muslims (both Shiites and Sunnis) to solidarity and active commitment and finally on the political level theorizes the constitution of the global Islamic State.
To achieve these objectives it makes use of:
various Islamist organizations to spread their political beliefs, among which the international pan-Islamic organization called Hizb ut-Tahrir -HuT - (Liberation Party) stands out. This organization was founded in 1953 in Jerusalem - as a rib of the Muslim Brotherhood - by Taqiuddin al-Nabhani, an Islamic scholar and court of appeal (Qadi) of the organization failed to take root in the Middle East while managing to take root in central-southern Asia, where it became popular especially among young people of Pakistani origin and Bangladesh. The movement consists of a network of secret cells with branches in Europe, central, southern and south-eastern Asia that reach Indonesia, as well as a foothold in India. The areas in which it operates are called wilayat - that the new caliphate will unite in a single nation composed of countries with a Muslim majority: from Morocco to North Africa, to the southern Philippines, to Southeast Asia.
His ideological creed is focused on:
reconstitute Islam Khilafah, or the caliphate as an "Islamic State";
recruit senior officers and civil leaders;
indoctrinating and recruiting young people from universities;
constitute the caliphate and spread it through jihad, offensive and aggressive, to recover the lost lands - from Spain, Russia and China - as well as invading and conquering the "lands of the infidels".
The organization devotes particular attention to Pakistan, which considers a suitable country for the location of a future Caliphate (or Khilafat) both for its geo-strategic position and for its rich natural and human resources. To this end it envisages the establishment of a strong "Islamic army" capable of extending the boundaries of the Caliphate from Pakistan to India and Central Asia. Pakistan has banned HuT in 2003, after discovering its connections with various terrorist plots.
The ideology of Hizb ut-Tahrir - a particularly difficult instrument for Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, considered by this organization as "agents" of a non-Muslim power - refuses assimilation and preaches association for the realization of the universal or global caliphate . The objective of the association itself is summarized in the expression of its founder, who stated: "The fierce struggle between Islamic thought and the thought of the infidels will continue with a bloody struggle alongside the intellectual struggle up to the hour when Allah it will inherit the Earth and all those who are on it ";
