The stated cost is "an hourly rate not to exceed $225..."
This is such a serious matter Peterson was told by the college in its communication with him that he should "seek qualified legal advice" and must agree to all its conditions or lose his license to practice his profession.
Peterson immediately submitted a special statement on this requirement to the National Post, Canada's national newspaper, explaining, "I will risk my licence to escape social media re-education."
He wisely explained as well,
For my crimes, I have been sentenced to a course of mandatory social-media communication training with the college's so-called experts (although social media communication training is not a scientific and certainly not a clinical specialty of any standing).
Peterson adds,
I am to do this at my own expense (some hundreds of dollars per hour) and for a length of time that is to be determined only by those retraining me and profiting from doing so. How will this be determined? When those very re-educators - those experts - have convinced themselves that I have learned my lesson, and will behave properly in the future.
Peterson properly asks in his Post piece, "What exactly have I done that is so seriously unprofessional that I am now a danger not only to any new potential clients but to the public itself?"
He answers his own question in length,
It is hard to tell with some of the complaints (one involved the submission of the entire transcript of a three-hour discussion on the Joe Rogan podcast), but here are some examples that might produce some reasonable concern among Canadians who care about such niceties as freedom of belief, conscience and speech:
I retweeted a comment made by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre about the unnecessary severity of the COVID lockdowns;
I criticized Prime Minister Justin Trudeau;
I criticized Justin Trudeau's former chief of staff, Gerald Butts;
I criticized an Ottawa city councillor; and
I made a joke about the prime minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern.
I did all that "disrespectfully," by the way, in a "horrific" manner that spread "misinformation"; that was "threatening" and "harassing"; that was "embarrassing to the profession."
Peterson rightly points out "Every single one of these accusations (and now accepted evidence of my professional misconduct) is independent of my clinical practice." These are political statements made by a citizen and do not fall under the domain of his professional work as a clinician.
The National Post is reporting the "Ontario College of Psychology says it's unable to discuss why it is allegedly taking disciplinary action and trying to force social media training on Canadian commentator and psychologist Jordan Peterson."
It is worth noting that Professor Peterson came to fame when the University of Toronto, where he taught, tried to require him to use gender pronouns. He adamantly refused, claiming that no one had the right compel him to say certain words or obey certain speech codes. He rightly argued that refusing such demands was a fundamental principle of classical Liberalism. He publicly wondered why more of his colleagues in the Academy were not also taking similar stands on principle.
The National Posts reports,
Indeed, Peterson threatens to make "every single word of this legal battle fully public."
"I'm going to say what I have to say, and let the chips fall where they will. I have done nothing to compromise those in my care; quite the contrary - I have served all my clients and the millions of people I am communicating with to the best of my ability and in good faith, and that's that," he writes.
Dr. Peterson simply believes the "wrong" things politically. And he believes those things out loud before an audience of millions. That is what this diktat is seeking to root out and reform. Such behavior should concern all people, regardless of political stripe.
The college notes on its official profile of Peterson that "Dr. Peterson has filed a Notice of Application for Judicial Review with the Ontario Divisional Court."

The RCMP is investigating Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, former Finance Minister Bill Morneau and others for obstruction of justice in the SNC-Lavalin scandal, Democracy Watch reported Monday.
Trudeau could face up to 10 years in prison if charged and convicted of the offense.
During Monday's Question Period in the House of Commons, the Opposition MP Dane Lloyd (CPC-Sturgeon River-Parkland) asked whether Trudeau or any of his cabinet members were under RCMP investigation. Government House Leader Mark Holland (Liberal-Ajax) rose to answer the question but his answer was inaudible. When he was asked a second time, Holland claimed he had already answered the question.
The conservative political and media watchdog filed an Access to Information request with Canada's national police force on July 27, 2022. The RCMP responded on May 25, 2023 that it has an ongoing investigation into Trudeau, Morneau, assorted staffers and former Clerk of the Privy Council Michael Wernick, Canada's top bureaucrat.
The SNC-Lavalin scandal took down two key ministers in the Trudeau cabinet as well as Trudeau's principal secretary, Gerald Butts.
The issue exploded in February 2019 when then-Attorney General and Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould said Trudeau's office had tried to bully her into intervening in a fraud and corruption court case against Quebec contractor SNC-Lavalin, a major source of jobs and votes in the province.
Wilson-Raybould taped her conversations with Trudeau and appeared before the House of Commons Justice Committee to say that she felt pressured by Trudeau to intervene in the criminal prosecution of SNC-Lavalin. After she resigned from Trudeau's cabinet, former Treasury Board Secretary and Minister of Health Jane Philpott also quit the federal cabinet, specifically citing the SNC-Lavalin scandal as the reason for her departure.
Trudeau then ejected both of them from the Liberal caucus. As she resigned, Philpott declared that Canadians needed to know "the whole truth" about the affair.
The RCMP's response letter, letter to Democracy Watch is 96 pages long and says that "a review of the records revealed that this matter is currently under investigation." All but 10 of the pages are redacted because, as the police force explains, the case remains under investigation. The RCMP has not commented on any SNC-Lavalin investigation since Aug. 14, 2019, when it would only confirm that it was assessing the potential for criminal charges.

1. Let me show you the law used to freeze the truckers' money. (I don't think they're actually seizing it; I think it's safely in a U.S. bank.)
Here's the government's press release. If I can find the full order I'll post it. They're using s. 490.8 of the Criminal Code.2971,7252,847Ezra Levant 🍁🚛@ezralevant?Feb 10
2. Here's the link to s. 490.8 of the Criminal Code: https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/c-46/page-77.html... It's a "a restraint order… in respect of any offence-related property". The kind of thing you'd use to seize a drug-dealer's speedboat, or cash.19213825Ezra Levant 🍁🚛@ezralevant?Feb 10
3. The court hearing is done in secret for the element of surprise. In legalese, "ex parte" without the other party there. So it was a sneak attack. The application "may be made ex parte and shall be made in writing to a judge and be accompanied by an affidavit."8183785Ezra Levant 🍁🚛@ezralevant?Feb 10
4. Ex parte hearings run contrary to the legal maxim "Audi alteram partem" – listen to the other side. Our entire legal system is based on having both sides (or all sides) heard. That can't happen if the other party can't be found; or if police need the element of surprise.6153783Ezra Levant 🍁🚛@ezralevant?Feb 10
5. Ex parte applications have a higher standard, because the judge is counting on the one lawyer in the room to honestly describe the whole story; to not hide exculpatory facts; to not misrepresent things.
Because no-one is in the courtroom to object, to cross-examine, to rebut.9117680Ezra Levant 🍁🚛@ezralevant?Feb 10
6. But look at this: s. 490.8(2) says three things must be shown:
a) the indictable offence to which the offence-related property relates;
b) the person who is believed to be in possession of the offence-related property; and
c) a description of the offence-related property.13132693Ezra Levant 🍁🚛@ezralevant?Feb 10
7. The second two parts are easy enough – GiveSendGo; and CAD$10.5M in cash. But what about that first part? "The indictable offence to which the offence-related property relates"? Those are two pretty big things to assert.
* an indictable offence
* related to the money10124676Ezra Levant 🍁🚛@ezralevant?Feb 10
8. In Canada, we use slightly different terminology than Americans. Indictable offences are the most serious offences in the Criminal Code. Summary conviction offences are the more minor ones. Some crimes can be prosecuted either way – it's up to the prosecutor.583569Ezra Levant 🍁🚛@ezralevant?Feb 10
9. So an indictable offence is a big thing. Murder, aggravated assault, theft over $5,000, etc. It's not horn-honking. It's not blocking a street. It's not jaywalking.
Have the truckers committee an indictable offence? Well, none have been arrested or charged with one.10194955Ezra Levant 🍁🚛@ezralevant?Feb 10
10. But even if someone did, look at that second condition. That the indictable offence was related to the money.
How could that possibly be made out? The money is being raised by Tamara Lich. Here's how she describes its purpose on GiveSendGo:givesendgo.comClick here to Give now to Freedom Convoy 2022 by Freedom 2022 Human RightsTo our Fellow Canadians, the time for political over reach is over.? Our current government is implementing rules and mandates that are…12144761Ezra Levant 🍁🚛@ezralevant?Feb 10
11. I've never met Tamara Lich, but I've seen some of her videos. She speaks about peace and love and healing and unity. She's a normal person who started something that got bigger than she'd ever imagine. I don't know if I'd call her the convoy "leader". More like its founder.899742Ezra Levant 🍁🚛@ezralevant?Feb 10
12. So how do you connect ("relate") a big bank account created by Tamara Lich with some indictable offence – that, as far as I know, has not happened? Is there some conspiracy? No. But there are conspiracy theories, most of them coming from Justin Trudeau and Gerald Butts.14110784Ezra Levant 🍁🚛

ONLINE EVENT ADVISORY John Podesta and Gerald Butts To Discuss the Canada-U.S. Climate Opportunity
Washington, D.C. - President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have a rare and historic opportunity to make generational progress in the fight against climate change. But where they begin and how quickly they act will depend on the strength and resiliency of the Canada-U.S. relationship.
Distinguished panelists:
John Podesta, Founder and Chair of the Board of Directors, Center for American Progress
Gerald Butts, Vice Chairman and Senior Adviser, Eurasia Group
former Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Back in the fall, Wilson-Raybould was moved from Attorney General to Veterans Affairs which people now think happened because Trudeau didn't get his way on the SNC-Lavalin case. Butts, however, has testified this morning that that wasn't the case.
He also told the committee that he believes everything that happened regarding SNC-Lavalin has been normal government operations but that if something was happening that was improper and Justin Trudeau had known, he would have put an end to it.

If you're wondering why "Butts" is trending on Twitter in Canada, it's because Justin Trudeau's former principal secretary and political aid - and, according to Maclean's, the 14th most powerful Canadian (circa 2014) - Gerald Butts shared a broadly offensive anti-American map via tweet. He has since deleted the tweet and apologized for sharing the map without "reading it closely."

13. But look at this! Vice President Jen Psaki (I think that's her title) was asked about the truckers. And she didn't do a Butts. She didn't smear or slander or attack. In fact, she seemed to praise the truckers and pretend Joe Biden was one of them!

Psaki tries and fails miserably at gaslighting on hero Canadian truckers- dismissing their MASSIVE protest as "sporadic congestion and blockages" and "not related" to the vaccine mandate
They think you're stupid.
Ezra Levant Maple leafArticulated lorry@ezralevant. 11h
14. For all her flaws VP Psaki can control her emotions, unlike Trudeau and Butts. Trudeau thought demonizing truckers somehow made him look better, so he doused the fire with kerosene. Psaki was conciliatory and friendly. Why?
Ezra Levant Maple leafArticulated lorry@ezralevant
?11h
15. Again, because she can control her emotions. She doesn't have a vendetta against Canadian truckers like Trudeau does. She just doesn't want the Trucker Spring to spread to the U.S. She doesn't want the political optics. She doesn't want the economic carnage. She's a grown-up.
Ezra Levant Maple leafArticulated lorry@ezralevant?11h
16. Imagine what a trucker rebellion would do in the U.S. Supply chain mess. Inflation. Unemployment. Visual proof of Biden's economic failure on TV every night. Alienating working class voters Biden needs so desperately this November.
Trudeau's mess is creeping over the bridge.
Ezra Levant Maple leafArticulated lorry@ezralevant?11h
17. But the truckers are already changing the political climate. Half a dozen Democrat states just ended mask mandates. Democrats are looking for a graceful exit for Fauci. Biden doesn't need this staring contest. And here, I predict, is how this ends:
Ezra Levant Maple leafArticulated lorry@ezralevant?11h
18. Biden gets the CDC to announce that The ScienceTrade mark sign has evolved again, and St. Fauci now says truckers don't need to be vaccinated to cross the border. Biden's policies are working so well, they can be retired already! Biden is a friend of the working man
Ezra Levant Maple leafArticulated lorry@ezralevant. 11h
19. Biden saves the day. He saves jobs. He's normalizing America! And the Teamsters will praise him. And because he didn't demonize the truckers, he won't lose face.
But all cross-border trucks do round trips. So if Biden ends the vaccine mandate, Trudeau has to, as well.
Ezra Levant Maple leafArticulated lorry@ezralevant?11h
20. You can't have a cross-border vaccine mandate in one direction. Biden will move, Trudeau will follow. He'll say it was for Canada-U.S. relations, and that it wasn't because of those racist, sexist, Nazi truckers.
But of course, it will be. And everyone will know it….

Gerald Michael Butts (born July 8, 1971) is a Canadian political consultant who served as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau from November 4, 2015 until his resignation on February 18, 2019.[2][3][4] From 2008 to 2012, he was president and CEO of the World Wildlife Fund Canada,[5] part of a global conservation organization. In 2014, Maclean's magazine declared Butts to be the fourteenth most powerful Canadian.[6] As the former Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Butts was praised as the architect behind the Liberal Party of Canada platform that led to their victory in October of 2015 and was one of the most senior staffers in the Office of the Prime Minister, along with Katie Telford.[7]
On June 25, 2008, Butts was announced as the president and CEO of the World Wildlife Fund Canada. He officially took up the position on September 2, 2008,[15] succeeding Mike Russill.
On October 16, 2012,[16] Butts left WWF Canada to become the political advisor to Justin Trudeau.
If the Liberals were to win the 2015 election, Gerald Butts could become one of the most powerful people in Canada.
-?Lee Berthiaume[8]
… it's hard to picture Trudeau running for prime minister without [Gerald Butts].
-?A fellow political aide[20]
In 2012, stemming from a two-decade-long friendship, Butts became the senior political adviser to Justin Trudeau [20] and one of the few people with whom Trudeau consulted regularly.[11] During Trudeau's initial time as Liberal party leader. He also assisted on the vast majority of policies on which Trudeau campaigned.[11] He was appointed Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister on November 4, 2015.[2]
On February 18, 2019, Butts stepped down as Trudeau's principal secretary and stated that it was to defend himself from allegations made against him in relation to the SNC-Lavalin affair and to avoid drawing attention away from the prime minister's work

Trudeau's buddy Gerry Butts wants Facebook to censor your climate change posts
Justin Trudeau's BFF and former advisor Gerald Butts, along with a group of 14 other non-scientists wrote a letter to the former Danish prime minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt and the Facebook Oversight Board asking them to "take action" by kicking climate change unbelievers off of Facebook.
For context, the social democrat Thorning-Schmidt is one of the four people selecting Facebook's 40 person "free speech panel," which isn't actually about protecting free speech, but about deciding who gets it, and who doesn't.
Here is an excerpt from that letter:
Facebook is allowing the spread of climate misinformation to flourish, unchecked, across the globe. Instead of heeding the advice of independent scientists and approved fact-checkers from Climate Feedback, Facebook sided with fossil fuel lobbyists by allowing the CO2 Coalition to take advantage of a giant loophole for "opinion" content.
The loophole has allowed climate denial to fester by labeling it "opinion," and thus, avoiding the platform's fact-checking processes…
…We are asking you to lead the charge to fix this. Until Facebook takes a stand, climate denial groups such as the CO2 Coalition will continue to exploit your platform to sow discord and put our nation's health and security at dire risk.
The letter is signed, like I pointed out already, by 15 radical leftist anti-free speech busybodies, not a scientist amongst them!

"If Trudeau can spend $700 million a year - scheduled to increase to $1.4 billion a year - to fund abortion procedures in third world countries, then he can certainly afford to build basic water and sewer infrastructure on the most populated First Nations reserve in Canada," he insists. "This community is just 50 miles from Toronto's City Hall, and we don't have clean drinking water."
The vast majority of the 13,000 residents who reside on the Reserve are forced to buy water in bulk and to store it in groundwater wells. For the relatively few properties - about 9% - that have access to basic drinking water infrastructure, that water is not clean. The federal agency that manages the Reserve - known as the Six Nations Elected Council or SNEC -began building that system years ago with water intakes from the Grand River.
But those intakes are downriver from major sewage discharges in Waterloo and Brantford, and massive volumes of agricultural runoff, which is seen as a profound affront to the community. "The feds think we should be drinking Waterloo's [expletive redacted]," is a commonly repeated characterization, often heard bandied about in the community.

Q Research General #9775: Late Bake Edition
There is a page on the internet where interested parties can see for themselves the amount of Canadian tax-payer dollars the Trudeau government sends to hundreds of Third World Nations each year.
For the year 2018, the Trudeau government handed $2.5 million dollars to the nation of Iran, ostensibly for the purpose of feeding their poor. Interesting to note how Canadian establishment media never dwell on the topic of Canadian aid to foreign governments.
CAP can understand why. It is, in truth, it is a sordid ordeal filled with mystery and intrigue.
The good news? The Trudeau government only gave Iran $2.5 million in 2018. How can this be good news for Canadian patriots? Because of the amount Trudeau gave to Iran's brethren nations in the Middle East and Africa.
Try $254 Million to Afghanistan, $198 Million to Ethiopia, and $124 Million to Syria. Therefore, relatively speaking, Iran's 2.5 Million is a mere "drop in the bucket."
And yet, the Iran situation is so very telling. America's enemy, a theocratic fundamentalist state, an oppressive Islamic government, as well as human rights abusing, anti-Christian society.
Guess this must be Justin Trudeau's preferred form of governance-because dozens of the tax payer funded-recipient nations also fall into this category.
Why does Canada give away billions to the nations in the world which hate Christianity, when Canada has for its entire 153 year history been a Christian-majority nation?
The situation involves a Trudeau prime minister, so naturally, it gets worse. Ever heard of a phenomenon called "Phantom Aid? CAP have- but we bet "dollars to Tim Horton's donuts" that 98% of Canadians have not.
Pourquoi? Because CBC, Globe & Mail and the rest of the Trudeau media puppets have held the truth back from 37.5 Million Canadians
Phantom aid is aid that never reaches the intended recipient countries. It is aid that gets looted in many ways such as tied aid and domestic refugee spending in donor countries. One of the countries affected by phantom aid is Afghanistan.
What was that number Justin sent to Afghanistan in 2018 again? Right-it is $254 Million Dollars.
Talk about a "bum rap." Just think about the difference that kind of coin would make if injected into the Canadian economy. Designate $100 million for transportation upgrades within urban Canadian cities. What a giant impact this would have on the well being of the millions of Canadians.
On the altruistic side, perhaps $20 million to clean up First Nations Reserves so that their children do not die of mercury poisoning. You know those 2000 or so poor Canadians sleeping in the streets over the Christmas holidays? How about some shelter for these poor souls.
How about doing something FOR CANADIANS instead of throwing one quarter billion dollars in the trash bin? Nope-not gonna go down under Comrade Justin.
For him, all that counts are the "optics." How does it look on the surface? What does the world think of the great "Trudeau" and his magic giveaways of billions to despotic Middle Eastern governments?
Consider this idea: If CTV and Toronto Star do not inform Canadians that these billions never reach the intended recipients, how can they inform us that the money has been appropriated by shadowy Middle Eastern forces such as terrorist organizations.
Quick Answer-they cannot-exactly why the entire charade is buried by media in the first place.
So where do these billions go? Who are the true recipients? CAP's Definitive Answer: We have absolutely no idea. Yet speculation may infer the funds end up in one general location- the place they do not belong.
Who knew that contemporary Canada is wasting billions of tax dollars in this capacity? What-2% of our overall population?
CAP Speculation: It is our opinion that the true purpose of the funds is simply to "buy favour" with Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Nigeria, Somalia, Ivory Coast, Syria, Sudan and Ghana.
Did you know? Several of these nations maintain not only the fastest growing populations on earth, but also the fastest growing economies on earth.
Now we are "getting warm"-- the true reason for the billions given away is because the people of these Third World nations are, in fact, the future of Canada. This is what Justin Trudeau, Gerald Butts, MP Ahmed Hussen, CBC, National Post and Toronto Star are HIDING from the good people of Canada.
$2.5 Million to Iran, $250 Million to Afghanistan. What really is the difference? Both are democracy-hating despotic nations-the kind the Trudeau family appear to prefer over western democracies like the United States-or for that matter-Canada itself.

When Member of Parliament Justin Trudeau made the October 2, 2012 announcement of his candidacy for the leadership of the Liberal Party, and announced his inner circle of advisors, it became evident that he was off to a very bad start. The first of the two advisors that sent off alarm bells is none other than Ted Johnson, who was not only his father's executive assistant, but also served as Vice President of Paul Desmarais' Power Corperation in the 1990s, handling the damage control during the disastrous "UN Food for Oil" program.
Gerald Butts' qualifications for his Ontario job rested heavily on the fact that he was and remains President and CEO of the World Wildlife Fund Canada (WWFC). The Malthusian WWF was founded by Prince Philip, Sir Julian Huxley and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands in 1961 as part of the British Empire's policy of making the "unthinkable once again become thinkable" as Sir Huxley wrote in his 1946 founding document of UNESCO [1]. The unthinkable of course, is "the important science of Eugenics", which, in the eyes of these oligarchs, was given 'terrible publicity' when their "Hitler project" (begun and controlled largely as a British-Wall Street initiative until 1937) failed them. It is no coincidence that former Nazi officer Prince Bernhard is also the founder of the infamous Bilderberg conferences which began in 1954 to advance the cause of one world government and depopulation. Both Ted Johnson and Gerald Butts were participants in those very conferences (1983 and 2007 respectively).
The WWF Canada was given new powers to influence national policy as part of Pierre Elliot Trudeau's revolution in "greening Canada" from 1968-1984. These reforms, which included the creation of Environment Canada, a mass of green legislation, and new financing support systems for NGOs such as WWF, Nature Trust, and Conservation International, have had a devastating impact in arresting all serious development projects in Canada as well as representing a frontal attack on the universalizing sense of optimism that NASA's Apollo landing on the Moon represented, especially for Canadians who took great pride that their newly founded Canadian Space Agency partook of this great endeavour.
These Pierre Trudeau-era programs have served to stunt Canada's development as a sovereign nation-state on the one side, and keep Canada locked into the Power Corp.-enforced trap of the free trade (aka: "fur trade") exploitation of resources for prices that often fall below the cost of production, demonstrated by such monstrous policies as NAFTA and the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP).
Power Corp. has been directly linked to every major leader of the Liberal Party since Pierre Trudeau, and that includes Conservative Brian Mulroney who recently helped found the Asia Power Corp. to attempt to control the energy program of Asia. This roster of recent Liberal leaders include Jean Chrétien , Paul Martin, as well as current interim leader of the Liberal Party Bob Rae, whose brother John Rae currently serves as the Executive Vice-President of Power Corp. where he was Paul Desmarais' right-hand man before the later's death in 2013. Paul Demarais was also a Privy Councillor to her Royal Highness Queen Elisabeth II.
In light of these revelations, perhaps the Liberal Party would do well to not be seduced by the star power of young Justin and arrange for a competent leadership with more substance to take on the important role of leading Canada into the future.

Former SNC-Lavalin executive found guilty of Libya corruption charges
A former senior executive of Canadian engineering and construction giant SNC-Lavalin was found guilty Sunday of corruption and fraud charges related to the company's dealings with the family of the late Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi.
After three days of deliberations, a jury in Montreal found Sami Bebawi, former head of SNC-Lavalin's international construction division, guilty of all five charges he faced, including fraud, corruption of foreign officials and laundering of proceeds of crime.
So far, the 73-year-old former executive is the only SNC-Lavalin official to have been convicted in the case.
Sentencing hearings are scheduled to begin on Thursday.
The Montreal-based company, which found itself at the centre of a political scandal earlier this year, is facing separate charges related to the corruption scheme in Libya.
Prosecutors presented Bebawi, 73, as a key figure in an elaborate scheme to bribe Libyan officials, including one of Gadhafi's sons, Saadi Gadhafi, in exchange for lucrative construction contracts in the oil-rich North African country.
Following Sunday's verdict, Bebawi was released pending his sentencing. Hearings will begin Dec. 19. (Paul Chiasson/The Canadian Press)
Prosecutors alleged that SNC-Lavalin created a shell company and transferred about $113 million to its accounts.
According to the prosecution's star witness, Riadh Ben Aissa, another former SNC-Lavalin executive and a former subordinate of Bebawi, the money was intended mainly for Saadi Gadhafi.
Between 2001 and 2011, SNC-Lavalin won contracts in Libya totalling at least $1.85 billion.
SNC-Lavalin is accused of paying $47.7 million in bribes to public officials in Libya between 2001 and 2011. SNC-Lavalin, its construction division and a subsidiary also face one charge each of fraud and corruption for allegedly defrauding various Libyan organizations of $129.8 million.
The company says it intends to vigorously challenge the charges.
"SNC-Lavalin is focused on its business and delivering results, and will not comment on past or pending court proceedings," the company said Sunday in a statement.
SNC-Lavalin opts for judge-only trial in corruption case
Being found guilty could have grave consequences for SNC-Lavalin because it could find itself blacklisted and shut out of lucrative federal contracts for a period of 10 years as well as undermining its international business opportunities.
The engineering and construction firm has been at the centre of a political controversy following accusations by former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould that top government officials pressured her to overrule federal prosecutors and negotiate a deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) with the company.
The DPA would allow the company to pay a fine rather than face a criminal trial.
Wilson-Raybould resigned from cabinet in February following media reports that her demotion from the justice portfolio to veterans affairs in a January cabinet shuffle was caused by her refusal to intervene in the criminal prosecution of SNC-Lavalin.
Former Treasury Board President Jane Philpott also resigned from cabinet, saying she lost confidence in the government's handling of the affair.
The scandal also resulted in the resignation of Trudeau's principal secretary Gerald Butts and the early retirement of Michael Wernick, the former clerk of the Privy Council.

Trudeau's top advisor accused Indian PM of trying to 'screw' Liberals during 2018 trip: book excerpt
'OTTAWA - Justin Trudeau's longtime adviser Gerald Butts accused India's government of trying to "screw" the Liberals to help his Canadian Conservative rivals during the prime minister's controversy-ridden trip to India.
Trudeau's visit to India in early 2018 was widely panned because of his dressing in traditional garb; the invitation of a convicted attempted murderer to high-level receptions and the lack of official duties among other issues.
"'We walked into a buzzsaw - (Narendra) Modi and his government were out to screw us and were throwing tacks under our tires to help Canadian conservatives, who did a good job of embarrassing us,'" Butts is quoted as saying in a new book by National Post political columnist, John Ivison, Trudeau: The Education of a Prime Minister, scheduled to be released next week.
Butts was principal secretary to Trudeau at the time although he resigned his position earlier this year in the wake of the SNC-Lavalin controversy. However, he has returned to the fold and will work on the Liberals' re-election campaign.
The book sheds light on how senior Liberals viewed and framed the prime minister's trip. At least as far as polling was concerned, the eight-day journey seemed to mark the end of a Liberal honeymoon period with the Canadian public.
Butts's comments speculating about Prime Minister Modi's motives are coming to light before a federal election in October, at a time when any hint of foreign interference in Canadian politics is liable to become a headline.
The book details some of the controversial aspects of the trip - which cost more than $1.5 million - including flying in a Vancouver chef to cook Indian food in India.
Most controversial was the accidental invitation to high-level receptions of a convicted attempted murderer, Jaspal Atwal. Atwal's ability to travel to India at all appeared to have required intervention from the Indian government, and Trudeau's security adviser Daniel Jean told reporters that, as Ivison puts it, "elements within the Indian intelligence service may have been happy to see Atwal embarrass Trudeau for being soft on Sikh separatism."
Butts went on to say that Modi's intentions weren't the "core issue" with why the trip was so awfully received at home, though. It was the photographs of Trudeau and his family in traditional garb that seemed to resonate badly with voters.
"The picture will overwhelm words," said Butts. Senior Liberals, Ivison writes, were quick to lay blame on Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, saying it was her idea to order costumes and have the family wear them.
Conservative leader Andrew Scheer's office would not offer any comment about the details on Wednesday beyond pointing to one of Scheer's tweets. Tagging the Indian leader and quoting Butts, the tweet said: "There Trudeau goes again, blaming others for his own mistakes and poor judgment. This time it's @NarendraModi. Trudeau's failed leadership is no one's fault but his own."
Despite Scheer being otherwise silent, a Conservative source said, "We will certainly be saying more about this in coming days."
Guy Caron, foreign affairs critic for the NDP, cautioned in an emailed statement that Butts's comments weren't great for diplomacy. "These comments might explain why the PM's trip to India was a fiasco from the beginning," he said. "It's not appropriate for the Prime Minister's former Principal Secretary to be making such comments while both governments are still in place. This does not help our diplomatic relationships."

The legal repercussions never surfaced. But that doesn't mean the players were formally cleared of wrongdoing. It just meant there was no investigation. The stench lingers to this day.
The return of Butts speaks volumes. It seems Trudeau does not believe Lavscam was a serious problem. Rather, Butts was just shuffled away until things cooled down and now brought back when they feel the coast is clear.
As Lorrie Goldstein argued in his latest column, this is also a sign that the Liberals haven't turned a page and will just repeat their same old shenanigans if re-elected for a second term.
There's a term for this: arrogance.
Kinsella sums it up well: "Liberal arrogance has felled many a Liberal government. It is the greatest Grit weakness. And the return of Gerald Butts signals its unfortunate return, in marquee lights."

The return of Butts speaks volumes
Jaws dropped throughout the Canadian political scene when it was revealed that Gerald Butts had been officially welcomed back into the federal Liberal fold, and would be assisting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with his re-election bid.
This news came out over the weekend, with a CBC report explaining the former principal secretary, who resigned smack dab in the middle of Lavscam, would be crawling back out of the hole reserved for cynical operatives to become "senior political strategist."
That guy? The same Butts who was one of the subjects of Jody Wilson-Raybould's damning public testimony? Yup, one and the same.
Warren Kinsella put it well in his latest Sun column: "Him, the one who also told the chief of staff to the Attorney-General of Canada that Trudeau's cabal wanted to short-circuit the criminal prosecution of SNC-Lavalin, a Liberal Party donor. Him, 'Gerry,' who famously said of interfering in the coming corruption trial of SNC-Lavalin that 'there is no solution here that does not involve some interference.'"
As we wrote recently in this editorial space - before the news of Butts position was made public - it seemed like the Liberals had their swagger back and the public had largely forgotten about the troubling scandal that had many prominent individuals calling for the RCMP to investigate the Prime Minister's Office for obstruction of justice.

Butts' parents were from UK. Went to spoopy McGill U with Justin Trudeau. Worked policy for horrid Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty. Was CEO of WWF Canada (spoopy Prince Bernhard) before working for Justin's political future.
After SNC-Lavalin scandal broke, he 'resigned' for a couple of months to get out of spotlight before coming back for this fall's federal election in Canada.
Sauce on him generally seems thin. Suggests spook / DS man. Butts worked with Clerk of Privy Council (guy who runs all of Canada's civil servants) on SNC-Lavalin case.

Trudeau Ousts Two Former Cabinet Ministers Critical of His Handling of SNC-Lavalin Affair From His Party
TORONTO-Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has kicked out two former cabinet ministers who resigned over his handling of the SNC-Lavalin affair from his Liberal party caucus.
During an emergency caucus meeting on April 2, Trudeau said former Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould and former Treasury Board President Jane Philpott would no longer be allowed to sit in the legislature as Liberal members of Parliament. They will also not be allowed to run as Liberal candidates in the upcoming October federal election.
The prime minister said that his decision was based on the two legislators' lack of confidence in the government as well as actions they've taken since they left cabinet earlier this year.
Both Wilson-Raybould and Philpott have been outspoken about the government's handling of the prosecution of Canadian engineering firm SNC-Lavalin. The Montreal-based company is charged with fraud and corruption in connection with C$48 million ($36 million) payments to Libyan government officials between 2001 and 2011.
Wilson-Raybould alleges she was pressured by the prime minister and his senior staff to intervene in the criminal prosecution of the company to reduce the severity of the consequences faced by the company, citing worries over job losses and potential impact on votes for the Liberal party where the company is based.
Wilson-Raybould was shuffled from her role earlier this year. She alleges the decision was made because of her decision not to intervene in the SNC-Lavalin case. Philpott resigned from cabinet shortly afterwards, her resignation letter citing a lack of confidence with the current government over the way it handled the affair.
The allegations sparked two investigations, one by the parliamentary justice committee and another by the federal ethics commissioner. It also cost Trudeau his principal secretary, Gerald Butts, who resigned but has denied any wrongdoing, and the nation's top bureaucrat, Michael Wernick, who will step down as clerk of the Privy Council office on April 19.

Trudeau mulls change of tone in SNC-Lavalin scandal
By Mercedes Stephenson
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to change his tone on the SNC-Lavalin controversy after an afternoon huddled with his closest advisers, as the Liberal government struggles to confront the political crisis engulfing it just months ahead of the election and moves into damage-control mode.
The prime minister cancelled a planned trip to Regina, instead returning to Ottawa for an emergency strategy session with his senior staff and advisers in order to come up with a way forward on the SNC-Lavalin affair.
READ MORE: Ministers rally around Trudeau amid SNC-Lavalin affair - Here's what they're saying
A senior government source said a key part of those discussions was about the possible need for a change in tone. A new strategy is expected to come out of the meetings, one in which the prime minister is expected to strike a more apologetic tone and demonstrate contrition, likely in the form of a statement to Canadians.
The statement would not acknowledge any wrongdoing, the source says, but is expected to address the allegations of inappropriate pressure in a more apologetic way and express contrition over how his senior staff and officials allegedly conducted themselves.
Former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould has alleged that the prime minister, his senior staff and government officials put inappropriate pressure on her to intervene in the criminal prosecution of SNC-Lavalin, citing jobs and a looming election.
A senior source said Trudeau will not make any statement in advance of the testimony of his former principal secretary and close personal adviser Gerald Butts.

Most Canadians side with Wilson-Raybould, believe Trudeau has lost moral authority to govern: Ipsos poll
BOY BLUNDER IN MAJOR SHIT
A majority of Canadians are keeping tabs on the SNC-Lavalin affair and that doesn't bode well for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, according to a new Ipsos poll conducted exclusively for Global News.
If an election were held tomorrow, Trudeau would receive only 31 per cent of the decided popular vote - down three points from a couple of weeks ago - while Conservative Party Leader Andrew Scheer would receive 40 per cent, according to the poll of 1,000 Canadians carried out between March 1 and March 4.
That's the biggest lead the Conservatives have had since the previous election campaign - and that's despite the fact that the polling data was obtained before Treasury Board President Jane Philpott resigned from Trudeau's cabinet on Monday, following in the heels of former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould and principal secretary Gerald Butts.
"This is the first time we've actually seen the Conservative Party resuscitated and looking like they could potentially form the government," said Darrell Bricker, CEO of Ipsos Public Affairs.
"The Liberals, on the other hand, have been dropping precipitously over the space of the last few weeks. The question is have they hit bottom yet?"
The national approval figures are mirrored in Canada's largest province, Ontario, where the Conservatives sit at 40 per cent, nine points over the Liberals, who are at 31 per cent.
Crucially, the Tories enjoy a commanding lead in the vote-rich 905 region surrounding Toronto.
"The Conservatives have over a 20-point lead in the 905, which has the most seats that swing back and forth in any election campaign," said Bricker.
"With that kind of lead, they're set to sweep the 905. If they sweep the 905, they probably win the election."
The Trudeau Liberals' prospects in Quebec also look dim. The Liberals had a 13-point lead over the Conservatives in Canada's second-most populous province only two weeks ago, but that lead has since been slashed by half.
The Liberals now have the support of 35 per cent of Quebecers, with the Conservatives at 29 per cent and the Bloc Quebecois and NDP well behind at 19 per cent and 14 per cent respectively.
The polling also reveals that the ongoing SNC-Lavalin affair is directly responsible for Trudeau's flagging support.
Sixty-four per cent of Canadians say they're now following the issue - that's 15 points up from two weeks ago.
Most of them also say they believe the issue deserves all the attention it has been getting, compared to less than a third who say the matter is being blown out of proportion.

Justin Trudeau Loses Another Cabinet Minister as Corruption Scandal Grows
Treasury Board President Jane Philpott, a member of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's cabinet, resigned her post on Monday because she "lost confidence" in the administration's handling of the SNC-Lavalin scandal.
In her resignation letter, Philpott declared herself a true believer in Trudeau's agenda but said her confidence in his leadership was shaken by former Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould's testimony that she was improperly pressured to avoid prosecuting engineering giant SNC-Lavalin for corruption.
"The solemn principles at stake are the independence and integrity of our justice system. It is a fundamental doctrine of the rule of law that our Attorney General should not be subjected to political pressure or interference regarding the exercise of her prosecutorial discretion in criminal cases," Philpott wrote.
Perhaps the most cutting line in Philpott's letter of resignation was when she declared, "There can be a cost to acting on one's principles, but there is a bigger cost to abandoning them."
Wilson-Raybould herself resigned abruptly in February. She hailed Philpott as "incomparable" on Monday and saluted her "constant and unassailable commitment to always doing what is right and best for Canadians."
Trudeau's top aide and close friend Gerald Butts resigned later in February, insisting there was no wrongdoing in the effort to protect SNC-Lavalin from prosecution, but he will return to the spotlight on Wednesday to testify before the House of Commons Justice Committee.
The Toronto Sun on Monday judged Butts may have become the key figure in the battle for Trudeau's political survival, saying:
The most damning evidence put forward by Wilson-Raybould is from two text messages her chief of staff, Jessica Prince, sent to her following meetings she had with the PMO [Prime Minister's Office]. Butts apparently told her "there is no solution here that does not involve some interference."
Trudeau Chief of Staff Katie Telford apparently also told her "we don't want to debate legalities anymore."
Both of these - the Butts one in particular - suggest they knew what they were doing was not in line with the law, yet didn't care.
The Conservative and NDP MPs on the committee will need to grill Butts on these issues. Canadians want answers.
In other words, Butts' testimony may determine whether Trudeau's efforts to protect SNC-Lavalin are upgraded from "inappropriate" to "illegal."
Trudeau's defense strategy appears to depend on carefully chipping away at Wilson-Raybould's credibility without flatly accusing her of lying, a strategy that will presumably widen to include Philpott as well. According to the latest polls, it's not working - Trudeau's numbers are collapsing, Canadians say they are following the story closely, and some 67 percent of them believe Wilson-Raybould instead of Trudeau.

TRUDEAU IS DONE
1. For my American and British friends: Canada's Justin Trudeau is done. He might try to fight on; I personally think he's too damaged. He's irreparably damaged. Here's what happened in a few short tweets.
2. Trudeau was detonated today by his former Attorney General, Jody Wilson-Raybould, Canada's first Aboriginal A-G. She just testified in Parliament, in meticulous detail, how Trudeau and his staff tried to get her to drop criminal charges against a corrupt company that he liked.
3. She refused to bend the law for Trudeau's cronies. But they didn't stop. Trudeau; his chief of staff; his principal secretary; even the finance minister. They met her ten times, phoned her ten more. trying to get the charges dropped. She wouldn't. So Trudeau fired her as A-G.
4. The story leaked out earlier this month, but it was all anonymous sources. The former A-G herself didn't say a word, saying she was bound by attorney-client privilege and cabinet confidences. She was effectively gagged; so Trudeau was the only one talking.
5. Trudeau took advantage of her enforced silence to claim she supported him and everything was fine. After all, when he fired her as A-G, he appointed her to the minor post of veterans minister.
When she heard him make that boast, she quit as veterans minister. He was shocked.
6. Then suddenly Gerald Butts, Trudeau's right hand man – his best friend since college – resigned, claiming he had done nothing wrong. Which is odd. It looked like a compromise – Butts left, so Wilson-Raybould met with the cabinet and the caucus again.
7. Wilson-Raybould still didn't say anything publicly. She hired a retired Supreme Court judge as her lawyer, to advise her on what she could say. Under pressure, the Liberal dominated Parliamentary committee invited her to testify, and Trudeau grudgingly waived some privilege.
8. So today she testified. In great detail. Exactly who pressured her. Exactly how. Exactly when. She named names. Including the prime minister himself. Here's her statement:
https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/read-jody-wilson-rayboulds-full-remarks-to-the-house-of-commons-justice-committee
9. It's against the law to pressure the Attorney General to obstruct a criminal prosecution. Here's Canada's Criminal Code. Section 139(2) is obstruction – it carries a 10-year prison term. https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/PDF/C-46.pdf
10. Last detail. Jody Wilson-Raybould's father was an Aboriginal activist who butted heads with Justin Trudeau's father. Here they are bantering. Bill Wilson tells Pierre Trudeau that his daughter Jody wants to be PM one day. Maybe she will be?

This Top Trump Rival Is About To Resign Over A Jaw Dropping Sex Scandal
Donald Trump's enemies just got some really bad news.
One of the President's biggest rivals is locked up in a growing crisis.
And it includes a bombshell sex scandal that could cause this top Trump critic to resign.
Liberals and many members of the fake news media look to Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to be one of the emerging leaders of the "liberal new world order" that Donald Trump is challenging.
Trudeau - who speaks in politically correct language that is "people kind" - supports open borders and global free trade.
But now Trudeau's career is in jeopardy.
Former Canadian Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould testified that Trudeau pressured her to drop a corruption case against Montreal-based engineering firm, SNC-Lavalin.
They were under investigation for bribery to secure contracts in Libya, as well as spending $30,000 on prostitutes for the son of Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi in 2008.
Wilson-Raybould testified, "The Prime Minister asks me to help out - to find a solution here for SNC - citing that if there was no DPA there would be many jobs lost and that SNC will move from Montreal. In response, I explained to him the law... I told him that I had done my due diligence and made up my mind on SNC and that I was not going to interfere with the decision of the DPP.
... At that point the PM jumped in stressing that there is an election in Quebec and that "and I am an MP in Quebec - the member for Papineau." My response - and I remember this vividly - was to ask the PM a direct question while looking him in the eye - I asked: "Are you politically interfering with my role / my decision as the AG? I would strongly advise against it." The Prime Minister said "No, No, No - we just need to find a solution."
Trudeau allegedly engaged in the same type of politically motivated interference of an investigation that President Trump's critics falsely accuse him of.
Gerald Butts, who was Trudeau's chief advisor, has already resigned because of this scandal.
And Trudeau may be next.

When the Conservative Party was elected it was largely in public reaction to huge scandals under Chretien (and his then-Finance Minister, Martin, who later succeeded Chretien as PM). PM Harper pushed reforms into the law that encoded the Rule of Law principles that the Liberals had violated but were not prosecuted for because of weak law. So today the product of the Conservative government's response to the corrupt Liberal government is at issue: And the Trudeau-appointed feminist Aboriginal Attorney General is making her stand based on those principles upon which the current law was built. She is for the principles that the former Liberal Government violated and that the current Liberal Government has violated. And she is a Liberal member of Parliament, still, whose stand has wide public support.
It may be used too often on this Board, but it is true what Q has said: These people are stupid.

Trudeau in hot water.
Ezra Levant 🍁
@ezralevant
Here's her statement: nationalpost.com/news/canada/re...
9. It's against the law to pressure the Attorney General to obstruct a criminal prosecution. Here's Canada's Criminal Code. Section 139(2) is obstruction – it carries a 10-year prison term. laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/PDF/C-46.pdf
10. Last detail. Jody Wilson-Raybould's father was an Aboriginal activist who butted heads with Justin Trudeau's father. Here they are bantering. Bill Wilson tells Pierre Trudeau that his daughter Jody wants to be PM one day. Maybe she will be.

Will Trudeau Resign After Former AG's Explosive Testimony?
During a day where three concurrent Congressional hearings dominated the news cycle in the US, the testimony of Canada's former Attorney General seemed to slip under the radar. But unlike Michael Cohen's star turn in front of the House Oversight Committee, what former AG Jody Wilson-Raybould shared with lawmakers and the Canadian public actually might cause one head of state's carefully constructed house of cards to come crashing down - just as campaign season is ramping up.
With roughly eight months left until an election where Canadians will decide whether to stick with - or reject - the progressive agenda of PM Justin Trudeau, a widening corruption scandal is threatening to take down the prime minister's entire government. Two weeks ago, journalists at the Globe and Mail blew the lid off a scandal involving Trudeau and his closest aides, where the prime minister appeared to pressure Wilson-Raybould, then the attorney general, into offering a DPA to a Quebec-based engineering firm - then fired her when she refused to obey his demands. And after weeks of radio silence, she shared her side of the story during a widely watched (in Canada) Congressional hearing Wednesday afternoon.
Answering questions posed by a conservative MP, Wilson-Raybould said she faced intense political pressure and veiled threats from at least 11 people involved in the government - either the PMO or the Privy Council Office - related to the SNC-Lavalin affair. She also said she was warned directly by Trudeau about the negative consequences should the company face prosecution, according to CBC. One close aide to Trudeau has already resigned over the scandal.
Wilson-Raybould listed the people she had warned about "the inappropriate nature of these conversations" after they "hounded" her about the affair, including Trudeau, Finance Minister Bill Morneau, Clerk of the Privy Council Michael Wernick and the (now-fired) senior senior aide to the prime minister, Gerald Butts.
"For a period of four months from September to December 2018, I experience a consistent and sustained effort by many people within the government to seek to politically interfere in the exercise of prosecutorial discretion in my role as the attorney general of Canada in an inappropriate effort to secure a Deferred Prosecution Agreement (DPA) with SNC-Lavalin."
"Within these conversations there were express statements regarding the necessity of interfering in the SNC-Lavalin matter, the potential of consequences, and veiled threats if a DPA was not made available to SNC-Lavalin," she said.

This is where the trouble begins, because this extremely important Canadian company has also been up to its entrails in shit. Canada PM's chief secretary resigns amid SNC-Lavalin controversy
(Reuters) - A top aide to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resigned unexpectedly on Monday amid allegations Trudeau's office had pressured the former justice minister to help construction firm SNC-Lavalin Group Inc avoid criminal prosecution.
Gerald Butts, Trudeau's principal private secretary and a key architect of the Liberals' 2015 election victory, said in a statement he did not pressure then-Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould over SNC-Lavalin. Trudeau, who faces a re-election bid in October, has faced criticism since Wilson-Raybould quit his Cabinet following a Globe and Mail newspaper report this month that officials in Trudeau's office had urged her to let SNC-Lavalin escape with a fine rather than face trial on charges of bribing Libyan officials.
SNC-Lavalin has said it had sought to avoid a corruption trial because the executives accused of wrongdoing had left the company and it had overhauled its ethics and compliance systems. Any accusation that "I or the staff put pressure on the Attorney General (Wilson-Raybould) is not true," Butts said in the statement on Monday. He added that the allegation was distracting from the "vital work" Trudeau was doing and that it was in the best interest of the Prime Minister's Office for him to step aside.
Trudeau accepted Butts' resignation and said he had served the country with "integrity, sage advice and devotion." "I want to thank him for his service and continued friendship," Trudeau said in a post on Twitter. Neither Butts nor chief Trudeau spokesman Cameron Ahmad was immediately available for comment. Butts, 47, has known Trudeau for more than 25 years, going back to when they were students at McGill University in Montreal. Along with Trudeau's chief of staff, Katie Telford, Butts is widely credited with helping Trudeau's Liberals win a surprise election victory in October 2015.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's top adviser has resigned while denying allegations that he pressured Canada's former attorney general to avoid prosecuting a major Canadian engineering company.
Principal secretary Gerald Butts has been Trudeau's closest adviser and best friend since university, and his resignation over the widening scandal was a significant blow to the prime minister, who is facing an election this year.
The Globe and Mail newspaper reported this month that Trudeau or his staff pressured Wilson-Raybould to try to avoid a criminal prosecution of Montreal-based SNC-Lavalin over allegations of corruption involving government contracts in Libya.

Top Trudeau adviser Gerald Butts resigns, denies PMO pressured Wilson-Raybould

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's top adviser and long-time friend Gerald Butts has resigned his post as principal secretary, but denies that he or anyone in Mr. Trudeau's office pressured former justice minister Jody Wilson-Raybould in the prosecution of SNC-Lavalin on bribery and fraud charges.
"I categorically deny the accusation that I or anyone else in this office pressured Ms. Wilson-Raybould," Mr. Butts said in a statement on Monday. "We honoured the unique role of the Attorney General. At all times, I and those around me acted with integrity and a singular focus on the best interests of all Canadians."
Thanks for the notes of encouragement to all who have reached out. @jodilhButts and I appreciate the love and support. But public institutions are bigger and more important than any of their temporary occupants. Please see my statement. https://t.co/LkybmLiYbG
- Gerald Butts 🇨🇦 (@gmButts) February 18, 2019
A Globe and Mail story on Feb. 7 said Ms. Wilson-Raybould came under pressure from the Prime Minister's Office to instruct prosecutors to offer SNC-Lavalin a deferred prosecution deal to avoid a trial.
Mr. Trudeau has said he discussed the issue with her last September, but that he told her it was her decision to make. He said she should have come forward if she felt she was being pressured by his staff.
On Monday, Mr. Trudeau used Twitter to thank Mr. Butts "for his service and continued friendship."
"Gerald Butts served this government - and our country - with integrity, sage advice and devotion," Mr. Trudeau wrote.
Ms. Wilson-Raybould, whom Mr. Trudeau demoted to Veterans Affairs in a shuffle in January, resigned from cabinet last week and said she had retained legal counsel to determine what she can and cannot talk about within the confines of solicitor-client privilege over the SNC-Lavalin affair.
Along with chief of staff Katie Telford, Mr. Butts has been at Mr. Trudeau's side since he ran for the Liberal leadership in 2013, and was a key architect of the party's election victory in 2015.
New Democratic Party MP Nathan Cullen said Mr. Butts' resignation and denials will do nothing to persuade Canadians that there was not untoward pressure on Ms. Wilson-Raybould.
"He should expect to be subpoenaed" by the Commons justice committee, Mr. Cullen said in an interview. "If you are innocent of all accusations, you don't tend to quit your job. And this was the most powerful person within this government outside of the Prime Minister himself. The Liberals keep denying with their words but keep convincing me with their actions that this scandal is real and this goes deep."

One well-connected Liberal with close ties to SNC-Lavalin said Ms. Wilson-Raybould "blew off the PMO" requests. The company had told the government it was in dire circumstances and required a suspension of criminal charges to ensure it continued on a solid footing.
The Trudeau government in 2018 amended the Criminal Code to allow deferred-prosecution agreements that let prosecutors suspend criminal charges against Canadian companies found to have committed wrongdoing. The measure was inserted in the 2018 budget after a brief consultation in 2017.
Liberal insiders said Ms. Wilson-Raybound knew this legislative change was meant to help SNC-Lavalin out of the legal troubles that were weighing on the price of its shares. A conviction on the fraud and corruption charges could result in a 10-year ban from federal government contracts - a development that would lead to layoffs.
Since the beginning of 2017, representatives of SNC-Lavalin met with federal government officials and parliamentarians more than 50 times on the topic of "justice" and "law enforcement," according to the federal lobbyists registry. This includes 14 visits with people in the PMO. Those they met included Gerald Butts, principal secretary to the Prime Minister, and Mathieu Bouchard, Mr. Trudeau's senior adviser on Quebec - whom they met 12 times. Mr. Trudeau's senior policy adviser, Elder Marques, also met with company representatives.
Sources at SNC-Lavalin told The Globe the PMO was furious with the justice minister's intransigence on the remediation agreement and that the company was pleased to see her moved out of the portfolio.
After a request from The Globe, Ms. Wilson-Raybould was unwilling to discuss the political pressure she endured aimed at persuading her to arrange a remediation agreement for SNC-Lavalin.
"That is between me and the government as the government's previous lawyer," she said in an interview.
Asked if she had been approached to direct the Public Prosecution Service to negotiate a remediation agreement, Ms. Wilson Raybould said: "I don't have a comment on that."

Trudeau attacks immigration "fear mongering" day after CBSA exposes human smuggling network
Justin Trudeau once again employed his favorite trope by calling out "fear mongering" about Canada's border security and immigration system.
It took a special kind of ignorance, considering only one day earlier Canada's border protection agency exposed a network of cross-border migrant smugglers.
Hours before Trudeau's remarks, two males in Kingston were arrested over what the RCMP call "national security" concerns. At least one of them is a Syrian refugee.
Though Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen, chief Trudeau advisor Gerald Butts, and Trudeau himself have all accused critics of "fear mongering" in recent months, this instance is perhaps the most tone deaf.
At a town hall in Miramachi, New Brunswick Thursday night, a young Syrian refugee rose to thank Trudeau for bringing her family to Canada.
After a bit of chest thumping about his government's resettlement of Syrian refugees, Trudeau made an unprompted pivot to the broader immigration discussion in Canada.
"There are people trying to create fears around the country around immigration.... The kind of fear-mongering, the kind of intolerance, the kind of misinformation that unfortunately is going on across the country and around the world is something that all of us have a responsibility to engage with in a positive and thoughtful way," he said.

>ongoing arson attacks on Churches across Canada
Trudeau's former sidekick says burning down churches is "understandable"
By Rebel News | July 07, 2021
So many Christian churches across Canada have been set ablaze or vandalized that it's becoming hard to even keep track.
Worse yet, the wheels of justice are still barely in motion in response to these attacks
- despite many of them occurring on indigenous land.
Things have gotten so bad that even First Nations leaders and members have taken to pleading with people to stop attacking their churches.
First Nations leaders and members have repeatedly denounced the vandalism and burning of churches in Canada
Many of the churches were places of worship FN community members and now they've been robed of those as well
https://t.co/2ZYthLOrSI pic.twitter.com/risUiapKTS
- Natasha Fatah (@NatashaFatah) July 5, 2021
One person who doesn't seem to have a lot of sympathy for these Christian churches is a former
sidekick and right-hand man to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau:
Gerald Butts. Butts, responding in a tweet about the churches, described the attacks as "understandable."
On a Rebel News DAILY Livestream, Ezra Levant shared his thoughts on Butts' understanding of these attacks.
Can you imagine him saying that about a Muslim mosque being torched or vandalized?
And not just one, I'm talking about 20.
Guys, it's understandable. I understand it. What's wrong with you, you're too stupid to understand it?
I mean, it's not cool. And by the way, I have the right to say this, because 40 years ago I did something
as an altar boy and I hate it, so it's understandable.Burn it all down.
Listen, if the right-hand man to Justin Trudeau can say it, why can't the "civil liberties" boss in B.C. say it?
This is the state we're in.

Gerald Butts says #TrudeauMustGo Twitter trend is a conspiracy
https://thecountersignal.com/Gerald-Butts-says-trudeaumustgo-twitter-trend-is-a-conspiracy/
In a desperate attempt to excuse the #TrudeauMustGo viral Twitter trend, Gerald Butts suggested it's a financed campaign using fake Twitter accounts.
The viral Twitter trend has over half a million tweets from Canadians from all walks of life who Trudeau's punitive vaccine mandate has harmed.
"The real question is who is paying for this campaign?" Butts tweeted on Friday.
"Sending a ton of [bots] to insist this isn't a [bot] campaign is not a super strong strategy," he later added.
It's unclear if Butts is naive about the number of people who hate Trudeau. Butts regularly comes to his former boss' defence.
And in 2019, he resigned to take the fall for the SNC Lavalin scandal, in which Trudeau pressured his Attorney General to secure a plea deal for the Quebec engineering firm to save jobs in the French province. SNC was accused of bribing both Canadian and Libyan officials
The anti-Trudeau trend began by Twitter user Marty who spoke to The Counter Signal about Butts' claim.
"I'm a semi-retired engineer. Anyone can audit my bank accounts. I'm not paid by anyone. I don't even have a membership in any political party."
Marty, an Albertan fluent in English and French, said he made the post after re-watching Trudeau's interview wherein he smeared unvaccinated individuals with hate speech.
"The video is almost a year old, and re-watching it triggered me. Especially since he's gone on to call people with different opinion "unacceptable."
"I wanted him to know that I'm not anti-science, misogynistic or a racist. I guess my Tweet was really addressed to him, but I'm glad it resonated with others. I dare him to find a commonality in all the posts. We're all different, and we all have valid reasons to oppose his mandates."
In fact, "Marty" himself trended on Twitter following Butts' accusation. Eventually, Butts conceded that Marty is real but claimed without proof that someone in the US started the trend.
Meanwhile, vaccinated and unvaccinated Canadians alike continue to share their stories of unwanted medical coercion, suffering from adverse effects, or being victims of hate speech by Trudeau, who's managed to polarize himself from the Canadian flag. Continue…

Gerald Butts politicizes the passing of Queen Elizabeth in crass tweet
https://www.rebelnews.com/Gerald_Butts_politicizes_the_passing_of_queen_elizabeth_in_crass_tweet
Rebel boss, Ezra Levant, noted the stark difference between the remarks of Trudeau's close friend, Butts, at the passing of the Queen and Trudeau's glowing affection for Cuba's communist dictator Fidel Castro.
While politicians on the left and right sent condolences on the passing of the Monarch, the former top adviser to Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau used the passing to slag the new Conservative government in the U.K.
"The Queen passing would not improve upon the general sense of catastrophe in the UK, to say the least." Continue…

"If we elect two more senators, we keep the House and Democrats, we're going to get a lot of unfinished business we're going to get done. Folks, look, we'll codify Roe v. Wade. We'll ban, we'll ban assault weapons. We'll protect Social Security and Medicare. We'll pass universal pre-K. We'll restore the Childcare Tax Credit. We'll protect voting rights. We'll pass election reform and make sure no one, no one, ever has the opportunity to steal an election again!," Biden said to the crowd.

World Economic Forum Infiltration Of Canada Set Up By Trudeau Advisor Gerald Butts
"Klaus Schwab was the first global personality to jump on the pandemic as a vehicle for the imposition of his new world order."
What we are very proud of now is the young generation like Prime Minister[Justin] Trudeau. Yesterday I was at a reception for Trudeau and I know that half of his cabinet, or even more than half, are Young Global Leaders."
So states Klaus Schwab, CEO of the World Economic Forum. It's all roses and sunshine for him. On the other side of the spectrum there is Canadian society. Looking around, we see that our country is being consumed by social chaos. Not in a half-century have Canadians been so angry, resentful and fragmented.
The responsibility for this is found in the behaviour of our Liberal government. Fortunately for them, they have media in their pocket to shift responsibility to working class Canadians.
"It is far from common knowledge among voters that the ideological model behind the Liberal policy machine is subversive and authoritarian."
As opined by Terence Corcoran in the Financial Post, "Schwab and the WEF had help in setting up their Canadian infiltration mission from Trudeau's former chief of staff, Gerald Butts, participant in the WEF's Davos conferences and a leading backroom organizer of the Trudeau government's ideological gambits."

WATCH: Trudeau ally Gerald Butts unscathed after SNC-Lavalin scandal
https://www.rebelnews.com/watch_trudeau_ally_Gerald_Butts_unscathed_after_snc_scandal
'He was pressuring the Justice Department to drop the prosecution, pressuring them to cut a deal, to stop the trial.'
On last night's episode of the Ezra Levant Show, we discussed how Justin Trudeau's close friend and former advisor Gerald Butts escaped prosecution for his role in influencing the SNC-Lavalin indictment while Jody Wilson-Raybould has been marginalized for refusing to kowtow to Butts' pressure.
Like an episode of The Sopranos, Butts purportedly actively interfered in the prosecution of the massive engineering company SNC-Lavalin by attempting to goad the Justice Department into dropping their prosecution. For not accepting Butts' seemingly corrupt propositions, Jody Wilson-Raybould was fired from her role as justice minister.

Trudeau cabinet minister claims gov't must begin to 'decolonize' Canada
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/trudeau-cabinet-minister-claims-govt-must-begin-to-decolonize-canada/
The 'work of decolonization,' Indigenous Affairs Minister Patty Hajdu said, 'needs our steady and unwavering commitment.'
In a meeting held in late March, Canada's Indigenous Affairs Minister Patty Hajdu claimed that the "impacts" from the "colonization" of the nation, which was mainly done by European settlers, are a "stark" reminder of the work that needs to be done to decolonize the country.
"Each of these days serves as a stark reminder of the impacts of colonization, stark inequities, and trauma," said Hajdu during a March 25 meeting of the Standing Committee on Indigenous and Northern Affairs.
Hajdu declared that the impacts of colonization "continue to have such a significant impact on First Nations, Inuit, and Metis communities across the country."
Hajdu then said that the "work of decolonization and self determination needs our steady and unwavering commitment, clear focus of equity funding and opportunity, and a shared vision of a healthy future for everyone in the country."
She then said that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "has been very clear that working toward reconciliation requires the commitment of all cabinet ministers."
The notion of the decolonization of Canada's Christian European roots has been heavily promoted by the mainstream media, notably after the discovery of reported unmarked graves at now-closed residential schools once run by the Church in parts of Canada in the spring of last year.
The findings led to nearly 100 churches, most of them Catholic, either being burned or vandalized.
Trudeau himself last year waited weeks before acknowledging the church vandalism, and when he did speak, he said it is "understandable" that churches have been burned, also saying it is "unacceptable and wrong."??He later also demanded that Pope Francis apologize for the Church's role in the Canadian government's residential school system.
In early July, Gerald Butts, a former adviser and close friend to Trudeau, was called out for saying the recent rash of arson and vandalism attacks on mostly Catholic churches is "understandable."?
Merriam-Webster defines the term "decolonize" as to "free from the dominating influence of a colonizing power especially to identify, challenge, and revise or replace assumptions, ideas, values, and practices that reflect a colonizer's dominating influence and especially a Eurocentric dominating influence." Gerald Butts threatens to sue Jordan Peterson, Peterson says bring it
https://tnc.news/2022/02/10/Gerald-Butts-threatens-to-sue-jordan-peterson-peterson-says-bring-it/
After trading barbs on Twitter for three days, prominent psychologist and author Dr. Jordan B. Peterson has told Trudeau crony Gerald Butts to go ahead and try to sue him for defamation.
"I gave Dr. Peterson three chances and a week to clean up his own room," said Butts in a tweet on Wednesday. "He declined, so he'll be hearing from my legal counsel shortly."
Butts, who was Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's principal secretary before resigning during the SNC-Lavalin scandal in 2019, said that all proceeds after legal fees are paid will be donated to women's domestic violence shelters in Ottawa.
Peterson said that he is more than ready for Butts's lawsuit.
"My defence is firmly in place, legal and financial, so we'll both get a chance to air our dirty laundry," replied Peterson. "And I wouldn't count on having too much to donate to your charitable cause when the smoke clears."
Butts and Peterson engaged in a battle of threats on Twitter on Sunday after the former political staffer made unsubstantiated claims about the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC). Continue…

Jordan Peterson slams Gerald Butts as a "stunningly corrupt and incendiary fool"
https://tnc.news/2022/02/07/jordan-peterson-slams-Gerald-Butts-as-a-stunningly-corrupt-and-incendiary-fool/
Acclaimed author and psychologist Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and Trudeau crony Gerald Butts engaged in a battle of threats Sunday on Twitter after Butts made unsubstantiated claims about the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC).
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's former principal secretary Gerald Butts began the duel by indulging in a bit of misinformation, accusing the so-called "MAGA wing" of the Conservative Party of being "funded from abroad" and that they "staged a hostile takeover" against former CPC leader Erin O'Toole. MAGA - "Make America Great Again" - refers to the campaign slogan of former US president Donald J. Trump.
Like his former boss, Butts has been a vitriolic critic of the Freedom Convoy since before arrived in Ottawa, alleging its connections to far-right groups.
Butts provided no evidence to support his allegation that the CPC was being funded from abroad, nor was he able to legitimize his claim that the CPC has a "MAGA wing." Contrary to Butts's remarks about O'Toole being voted out as CPC leader, CPC MPs including Garnett Genius have made it clear that O'Toole's ouster was non-ideological, and that it was an attempt to unite a party that had become heavily divided.
Peterson, who has been an outspoken supporter of the truckers' convoy as well as a scathing critique of Trudeau, took the former Liberal staffer to task, saying, "You are a stunningly corrupt and incendiary fool @gmButts and the story will be the cowardice of your leader @JustinTrudeau and the lies of your damnable lying calumnous cronies." Cancel culture comes for the trucker convoy
https://www.rebelnews.com/cancel_culture_comes_for_the_trucker_convoy
Do you think this is real journalism? Or is that mob cancel culture?
On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, we looked at the social media and journalistic reaction a convoy for truckers, currently on their way to Ottawa to protest vaccine mandates for their profession.
Here's a bit of what Ezra had to say:
Say, do you think that's real journalism? Or is that mob cancel culture? I would have liked to have seen McGregor's email to GoFundMe that elicited that reply. Because I don't think it's normal or natural or even journalist at all, really, to ask GoFundMe if they're going to cut off someone's campaign. That's a provocation, an implied threat that the same Journalist will embarrass them if they don't say, yes, we're going to cut them off.
And I don't think it's a coincidence that Trudeau's disgraced hatchet man, Gerald Butts, has done a dozen tweets attacking the convoy.

Gerald Butts mocks story of Chinese officer's access to top-secret virus research
https://tnc.news/2021/09/17/Gerald-Butts-mocks-story-of-chinese-officers-access-to-top-secret-virus-research/
Former senior liberal strategist Gerald Butts mocked journalists on Twitter over a breaking report which revealed that ex-federal scientists collaborated with a top Chinese military officer on highly contagious virus research.
"We're getting so close to the point where Bob Fife and Steve Chase could see someone having Dim Sum and turn it into a @globeandmail front," tweeted Butts.
Butts made the comments shortly after the Globe and Mail published its story exposing how People's Liberation Army (PLA) Major-General Chen Wei worked on two Ebola studies with former National Microbiology Laboratory scientists Xiangguo Qiu.
According to the outlet, Chen's identity as the PLA's chief military virologist was hidden from the publication which only referenced the individual as a PhD holder with the Academy of Military Science.
Additionally, the Public Health Agency of Canada is refusing to reveal whether Chen visited or had access to the top-security facility which houses some of the deadliest viruses available for scientific study.
While in government, Butts worked with Trudeau to develop closer relations with China.
In 2017, the former principal secretary accompanied the prime minister and a team of diplomats to travel to Beijing with the hopes of securing a coveted trade deal with the communist nation.
Following a disastrous display by Trudeau and his diplomats, which the Chinese leadership perceived as presumptuous, Butts and Trudeau returned to Canada virtually empty-handed.
Less than a year later, the chilled relationship between the two nations would erupt following the December 2018 arrest of Huawei CFO and Chinese heiress Meng Wanzhou and China's retaliatory detentions of Canadian Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig.
The Liberal government has since refused to disclose information to opposition parties regarding Qiu's and her husband Kending Chang's firing from the Winnipeg-based laboratory.

"Politicians should be ashamed" for response to church burnings, vandalism
https://www.rebelnews.com/politicians_should_be_ashamed_for_response_to_church_burnings_vandalism
At last count, more than 50 churches in Canada have been burnt to the ground or vandalized. Little wonder that hundreds of people gathered at Celebration Square in Mississauga, Ont. last Saturday to take part in a rally called Stop the Burning of the Churches in Canada.
You would think that condemning arson and vandalism against places of worship would be a no-brainer; but alas, the silence has been deafening from our so-called leaders. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau refuses to weigh in on this issue. Also tongue-tied are Public Safety Minister Bill Blair and RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki. As for Trudeau's best pal, Gerald Butts, he "understands" the passion for the destruction.
Appalling.
As for the mainstream media, these ongoing atrocities always fail to make the front page (if they get covered at all, that is). It is a miracle no one has died during these acts of terrorism.
And yet, one must ponder: would there be a different reaction if these places of worship were mosques or synagogues or temples? We suspect that if these grotesque attacks were carried out on these institutions, a royal commission would already have been struck by now.
The unspoken "justification" for these attacks is the disturbing news that is emerging regarding unmarked graves of First Nations children who attended residential schools decades ago. This is an atrocity, too, but how do two wrongs make a right? How does burning down a church on First Nations land that was used by the community for everything from weddings to funerals help matters in the here and now?
One of the keynote speakers at Saturday's rally was Raheel Raza, who lamented that this ongoing desecration of churches is exactly the sort of policy ISIS and Taliban thugs take part in. (Raheel is also the chairman of the Rebel News advisory board.) The disturbing thing is that this is not occurring overseas, but in Canada in 2021.
Conspicuous due to their absence at the rally were the politicians. Neither Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie nor the MP and MPP for the region could be bothered to show up. Indeed, not a single elected leader was in attendance to condemn the ongoing atrocities against Christian churches. How shocking, how cowardly is that?
Indeed, if you are as outraged about this as we are, please sign our petition at www.SaveOurChurches.com. Regardless of your religious background, let's let our elected leaders know that these acts of hate and terror against places of faith must not be ignored or even normalized.

Canadians call upon Trudeau to publicly condemn church burnings
https://tnc.news/2021/08/06/canadians-call-upon-trudeau-to-publicly-condemn-church-burnings/
Ontarians are taking a stand against the chain of church burnings that has devastated communities across the country. Grassroots movement Civic Revival announced that they are holding an event in Mississauga this Saturday, August 7, to "Stop the Burning of Churches in Canada."
"Vandalizing and burning places of worship have no place in Canada and must be condemned in no uncertain terms," asserts Civic Revival. They are calling "upon the Trudeau government to publicly condemn such atrocities and to assume its responsibility of upholding the Charter Rights for all Canadians and of putting an end to such heinous attacks on churches."
True North has been mapping the church attacks and has found that 57 Christian churches have been vandalized, burned down or desecrated since the June announcement of the discovery of apparent graves found near a residential school in BC.
While the majority of Canadians have condemned the attacks on places of worship, a number of activists, academics and prominent public figures have excused and even celebrated the church burnings and acts of vandalism.
In response to the church attacks, Trudeau said "it is real and it's fully understandable, given the shameful history that we are all becoming more and more aware of and engaging ourselves to do better as Canadians."
Echoing the prime minister's remarks, former principal secretary to Trudeau, Gerald Butts, stated that the ongoing church burning "may be understandable" in response to a tweet by journalist Terry Glavin.
In response, Civic Revival has asked "concerned Canadians to rise up and ask for accountability from their government and for upholding the rule of law."
"Not only did these attacks result in damage and destruction to ancient Catholic churches which were built some 100 and 200 years ago, but also churches that were built by more recently established immigrant communities," wrote Civic Revival.
"One blatant example is St. George's Coptic Orthodox Church in Surrey, British Columbia, which was burnt to the ground on Monday, July 19, 2021. Followers of the Coptic Orthodox church who emigrated to Canada from Egypt, in pursuit of the promise of equal rights, religious freedom, and the rule of law, were shocked to see their churches once again under attack."

The Moonshine Cafe reverses decision to only allow double jabbed people dine in their restaurant
https://www.rebelnews.com/the_moonshine_cafe_reverses_decision_to_only_allow_double_jabbed_people_to_dine_in_their_restaurant
Earlier this month, The Moonshine Café in Oakville, Ontario, received a lot of publicity for all the wrong reasons.
You see, the owners, John and Jane Marlatt, announced on their social media channels that if you want to get served at their establishment, you must be double-jabbed. Well, cue the outrage. And for good reason. After all, what about reasonable accommodation considerations for those who are not medically able to receive the vaccination? Or for children?
The cafe's owners were soon bombarded by those who were mightily perturbed that a private business would be applying its own makeshift vaccine passport. After all, isn't medical information personal and confidential? I mean, you wouldn't ask a patron making a dinner reservation if he or she had a history of sexually transmitted diseases. And by the way, whatever happened to that chestnut the progressives have long held sacred when it comes to abortion - you know: "My body, my choice"?
I reached out to John Marlatt last Friday to discuss. And John strikes me as a really good guy who, in his heart of hearts, truly believed he was doing the right thing. Indeed, he told me he ran the mandatory vax idea past his regular customers before announcing it, and it received unanimous approval from them.
Alas, that was not the case when it came to the population at large. John says he was deluged with nasty phone calls decrying the decision. And when word got out that a protest of his café was scheduled for last Saturday, John quickly revamped the policy and announced it on social media. And so it is that the mandatory vaccination rule is now deader than disco. Needless to say, the protest was cancelled, the vax-choice demonstrators winning this particular battle without having to fire a single shot.
For what it's worth, I think this is a win-win. After all, we should not have two classes of citizens - those who choose to receive an experimental vaccine and those who do not. And John now has a larger customer base, given the lack of restrictions.
But behind the scenes, I think our elected leaders want private businesses like The Moonshine Cafe to establish and police mandatory vaccine policies. Oh sure, the premiers and the prime minister have dismissed the idea of mandatory vaccination passports. But I think that's because they are counting on the private sector to implement this policy on their own, since our fearful leaders don't want to take the heat.
Case in point: a few days ago, GoodLife Fitness tweeted out the following: "Hey there! At this time, we are not planning to require Associates or Members to be vaccinated to enter our locations." Well, good for GoodLife, I say.
Yet, check out this social media response from none other than Gerald Butts, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's best boyfriend and puppet-master supreme. Butts said the following:
GoodLife is going to regret this.
What the hell is that, Gerry - a threat? A threat to a company that is not breaking any law, but rather, doing the right thing from a moral and ethical perspective? Give me a break!
Bottom line: businesses respecting those persons who do not get the vaccination is indeed the way to go. And next time I'm in Oakville, I plan to swing by The Moonshine Cafe and grab a bite. I'm happy to know that I am now a welcome patron even though I am 100 per cent unvaccinated. And I want to support this cafe for, well, doing the right thing.

Head of BC Civil Liberties Association resigns following "burn it all down" tweet
https://tnc.news/2021/07/17/head-of-bc-civil-liberties-association-resigns-following-burn-it-all-down-tweet/
Two weeks ago, the head of the BC Liberties Association (BCCLA) Harsha Walla tweeted "burn it all down" in response to the torching of churches following the apparent discovery of graves at former residential schools.
On Friday, the BCCLA announced the resignation of Walla.
In a statement, the BCCLA board of directors claimed that Walla's tweet did not convey the organization's message accurately.
"Using a particular turn of phrase in that context left some people with the wrong impression about the values and principles to which we adhere," it said.
"We regret the misunderstanding that was caused by the tweet and apologize for the harm the words caused."
Walla's tweet generated swift public backlash from Canadians, as many interpreted her tweet as encouraging arson. However, the BCCLA claims Walla was targeted because of racism and sexism.
"During the aftermath of the tweet, we encountered a wave of hateful commentary, fueled by the fact that our executive director is a racialized woman leader. Our executive director and staff were exposed to inexcusable racism and misogyny and threats to physical and mental safety," the BCCLA statement said.
Walla was not alone in excusing the recent church burnings and acts of vandalism targeting historical Canadians symbols. A number of activists, academics and prominent public figures, including NDP MP Niki Ashton and Prime Minister Trudeau's top advisor Gerald Butts, also commented positively about the violent acts.
In recent weeks, 47 churches have been vandalized, burned down or desecrated.

Canadian journalist: Ongoing church burnings are Canada's equivalent of BLM
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/canadian-journalist-ongoing-church-burnings-are-canadas-equivalent-of-blm
'It's the Canadian equivalent of when Black Lives Matter burns down black owned businesses in black neighborhoods - that does not help black people.'
CANADA, July 15, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) - The head of Rebel News, Ezra Levant, told FOX News host Tucker Carlson that the multitude of arson attacks on churches in Canada are the nation's "Black Lives Matter" moment, and called out the near silence regarding the burnings from the nation's top leaders.
"It's the Canadian equivalent of when Black Lives Matter burns down black owned businesses in black neighborhoods - that does not help black people," Levant told Carlson last week.
There has been heavy media coverage of the discovery of unmarked graves at now-closed residential schools once run by the Church in parts of Canada and now nearly 40 churches, most of them Catholic, have either been burned or vandalized.
An online map posted by True North News shows the locations of these churches.
"All of a sudden Canada looks a lot like the Soviet Union," Carlson began.
"Seem like we're exaggerating a little bit? Well, they're burning Catholic and Anglican churches in recent days. Leftist groups are. But Canada's leaders aren't condemning the burning of churches. No, they're endorsing the burning of churches," he continued.
Levant told Carlson that most of the churches being burned are "Aboriginal-focused."
"And you often have, in one case, white Antifa-style vandals…filming themselves desecrating a church. And the trouble is from the very top, it's either silence or tacit support," said Levant.
Levant added he is "reluctant to use the word Kristallnacht because we're not there yet," in regard to the church burnings in Canada.
"It was a precursor to the Holocaust. Obviously, we are not that far gone yet, but what do you call it when literally dozens of churches are being systematically vandalized, torched?"
Kristallnacht was the burning of Jewish synagogues, homes, businesses, schools, and hospitals at the hands of the Nazis in Germany in 1938, which resulted in many deaths and thousands of Jewish people taken to concentration camps; ultimately six million Jews died in the Holocaust.
Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau waited weeks before acknowledging the church vandalism, and when he did speak, he said it is "understandable" that churches have been burned, also saying it is "unacceptable and wrong."
In early July, Gerald Butts, a former adviser and close friend to Trudeau was called out for saying the recent rash of arson and vandalism attacks on mostly Catholic churches are "understandable."
Carlson called out both Butts as well as Harsha Walia, executive director of the British Columbia (B.C.) Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA). Walia recently sparked online fury after openly calling for violence against Catholic parishes, writing on Twitter, "Burn it all down."
Said Carlson of Walia, "the head of the B.C. Civil Rights Commission says burn it all down. I mean, that person sounds like a dangerous lunatic. Is that who is that? What is going on?"
Levant responded to Carlson by noting that Walia "hasn't been sacked" yet because of her comments, noting that a lot the churches being burned have been ones with Aboriginal Indigenous congregants, who have asked for their churches to not be burned down.
Although the residential school system was founded by the secular government in the 19th century, and then woefully underfunded by the state, and although different religious groups were asked to run the schools, the Catholic Church has borne the brunt of recent criticism.
Catholic author Michael O'Brien who attended residential schools and gave testimony to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, previously told LifeSiteNews that the chief underlying issue in the residential school saga was the institutional abuse of children by removing them from their families by the state authorities, and then taken to the schools, noting the "long-term psychological and social effects of this."
Furthermore, residential schools were severely underfunded, meaning that children did not receive sufficient medical care. These children often suffered from excessively high rates of tuberculosis. From 1910 through 1920, child mortality rates were consistently high. Additionally, the Department of Indian Affairs often refused to ship home the bodies of children who died at the government-mandated schools, meaning they were frequently buried on site.

Trudeau's former right-hand man joins Canadian PM in saying church burnings 'may be understandable'
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/trudeaus-former-right-hand-man-joins-canadian-pm-in-saying-church-burnings-may-be-understandable
'Failed Liberal brainiac Gerry Butts thinks burning indigenous churches "may be understandable." Wonder when he'll find it politically expedient to shrug off the burning of mosques and synagogues,' Postmedia columnist Terry Glavin wrote in response to the recent comments.
ONTARIO, July 9, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) - A former adviser and close friend to Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau is being called out for saying the recent rash of arson and vandalism attacks on mostly Catholic churches are "understandable."
The comment was made by Gerald Butts, who was an advisor to Trudeau until he resigned in the wake of the SNC Lavalin scandal in 2019.
On Tuesday, he wrote on Twitter that "it may be understandable" that people want to burn down churches in light of the discovery of unmarked graves at now-closed indigenous residential schools once run by the Church.
The controversy began after Postmedia columnist Terry Glavin took issue with some on social media who have come to the defense of Harsha Walia, executive director of the British Columbia (B.C.) Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA).
Walia recently sparked online fury after openly calling for violence against Catholic parishes, writing on Twitter in response to news of Catholic churches being torched to "Burn it all down."
Canadian lawyer Naomi Sayers came to the defense of Walia, saying publicly said that she would help "burn" down Catholic churches, as well as offering to help defend anyone caught attempting arson.
Butts first took a swipe at Glavin for calling our Walia's remarks, to which Glavin replied, "So Gerry, defending the 'burning churches is cool' crowd?"
It was then that Butts replied with his "understandable" remark.
Glavin was not finished in calling out Butts, writing, "Failed Liberal brainiac Gerry Butts thinks burning indigenous churches 'may be understandable.' Wonder when he'll find it politically expedient to shrug off the burning of mosques and synagogues."
This elicited a response from Butts, who again said it was "understandable" that churches are being burned.
"Look buddy, I'm not going to break the Crash Davis rule, and will ignore the personal insult. But I was an altar boy in a small Atlantic Canadian parish in the early 1980s. I can understand why someone would want to burn down a church, though I do not condone it," wrote Butts.
Butt's remarks come after Trudeau himself also said that it is that it is "understandable" that churches have been burned, while at the same time saying it is "unacceptable and wrong."
Sun columnist Brian Lilley blasted Butts in an opinion piece for his remarks.

Public figures who excused the church burnings and vandalism
https://tnc.news/2021/07/07/public-figures-who-excused-the-church-burnings-and-vandalism/
A number of activists, academics and prominent public figures have excused recent church burnings and acts of vandalism targeting historical Canadian symbols.
Comments include open calls to "burn it all down" in reference to Catholic church fires as well as calls to dismantle Canada's so-called colonial systems.
True North has compiled a list of every prominent individual who excused the recent incidents.
BC Civil Liberties Association Executive Director Harsha Walia
In a June 30 tweet, Harsha Walia said "burn it all down" in response to an article on two Catholic church burnings in British Columbia.
Following public backlash, Walia made her account private and claimed that she was not encouraging people to commit arson despite her comments. Walia still holds her position at the BC Civil Liberties Association.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
When asked about condemning the ongoing church fires, Trudeau told reporters on July 2 that the anger of those committing arson was "fully understandable" due to Canada's "shameful history."
"I understand the anger that's out there against the federal government, against institutions like the Catholic Church. It is real and it's fully understandable, given the shameful history that we are all becoming more and more aware of and engaging ourselves to do better as Canadians," said Trudeau.
Gerald Butts
Echoing the prime minister's remarks, former principal secretary to Trudeau, Gerald Butt, stated that the ongoing church burning "may be understandable" in response to a tweet by journalist Terry Glavin.
NDP MP Niki Ashton
MP Niki Ashton celebrated the toppling of statues at Manitoba's legislature of Canada's Head of State Queen Elizabeth II and the late Queen Victoria. Ashton referenced the criminal acts as "decolonization" before tweeting a heart emoji.
Ryerson School of Journalism assistant professor Karyn Pugliese
Karyn Pugliese, who teaches journalism students at Ryerson University, appeared on CBC At Issue where she stated "tear it all down" when asked about what can be done to achieve reconciliation on university campuses. Pugliese made the comments several days before a statue of Egerton Ryerson was pulled down and defaced by radicals.
Radio host Nesta Matthews
In a deleted tweet, Nesta Matthews, who hosts a radio show on St. John's 97.3 The Wave, called for people to "burn the churches down" and to arrest staff at Catholic churches. Matthews later apologized for the tweet and claimed that she had let her anger "get the better" of her and that her post "was reckless and wrong."
McGill University associate professor Debra Thompson
In a June 7 tweet referencing the recent London, Ontario vehicular attack and the Kamloops residential school announcement, Thompson mused how "it's truly a wonder we don't burn it all down."
Lawyer and Chair of the Newfoundland Canadian Bar Association Branch Caitlin Urquhart
On June 8, in response to Debra Thompson's tweet on the London, Ontario vehicular attack and the residential school announcement, Urquhart stated "burn it all down."

Elites now "comfortable" with political violence: former ambassador to China
https://tnc.news/2021/07/07/elites-now-comfortable-with-political-violence-former-ambassador-to-china/
Canada's former ambassador to China David Mulroney tweeted on Tuesday that Canadian elites were now "comfortable" with political violence that advances their own goals.
Mulroney made the statement in response to a tweet by former Liberal strategist Gerald Butts who said that the ongoing church burnings "may be understandable."
Butts resigned from his post as Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2019 after being implicated in the SNC-Lavalin scandal.
"We've crossed a threshold. Elites are now comfortable with violent, anti-social acts that align with their own politics. The law and its protections are conditional. This never ends well," tweeted Mulroney.
Mulroney is currently a Distinguished Fellow with the Munk School of Global Affairs and had served as Ambassador of Canada to the People's Republic of China from 2009 to 2012. Mulroney also played a key role as a Deputy Minister in charge of the Afghanistan Task Force, among other political appointments.
Other prominent individuals have come under fire for seemingly condoning and egging on arsonists targeting Christian churches.
On June 30, lawyer and executive director of the BC Civil Liberties Association Harsha Walia tweeted "burn it all down" in response to a news article about two Catholic churches being engulfed in flames after they were targeted by arsonists.
To date at least 12 churches have been lit on fire and dozens more have seen incidents of vandalism and graffiti.
In his own statements addressing the church fires, Trudeau claimed that the incidents were "fully understandable."
"It is unacceptable and wrong that acts of vandalism and arson are being seen across the country, including against Catholic churches," said Trudeau.
"I understand the anger that's out there against the federal government, against institutions like the Catholic Church. It is real and it's fully understandable, given the shameful history that we are all becoming more and more aware of and engaging ourselves to do better as Canadians."

Six things the media got wrong about the graves found near Residential Schools
https://tnc.news/2021/07/07/six-things-the-media-got-wrong-about-the-graves-found-near-residential-schools/
When it comes to the coverage of graves identified near residential schools in three First Nations communities, the legacy media in Canada has done a tremendous disservice to all Canadians - especially First Nations.
They have created a moral panic, and continue to fan the flames of racial division.
This panic came to a breaking point over the weekend, when prominent statues were knocked over and at least 25 churches in Western Canada were either vandalized or completely burnt down.
To make matters worse, several prominent commentators, including politicians, journalists, professors, lawyers and activists, excused the behaviour of the mob, explained away and justified these riots, and in some cases, even cheered them on.
"Burn it all down," said the head of the BC Civil Liberties Association, once the country's strongest voice for protecting the rule of law and civil liberties.
Likewise, the Chair of the Newfoundland Canadian Bar Association Branch said "Burn it all down"
Or how about this, from a radio host in St. John New Brunswick:
"Burn the churches down. Arrest any former staff that were actually there and any current staff that won't provide documentation. Sell everything they own in Canada and give it to survivors. Dismantle it completely."
Not to be outdone, NDP MP Niki Ashton cheered on the mob who toppled statues at the Manitoba legislature but calling it "decolonization" and saying there is "no pride in genocide."
Finally, Justin Trudeau's top advisor and best friend Gerald Butts said that burning churches isn't cool, but it "may be understandable."
How did we get here as a country?
Here are the six ways the legacy media in Canada got this story wrong.

Trudeau's former sidekick says burning down churches is "understandable"
https://www.rebelnews.com/trudeaus_former_sidekick_says_burning_down_churches_is_understandable
So many Christian churches across Canada have been set ablaze or vandalized that it's becoming hard to even keep track. Worse yet, the wheels of justice are still barely in motion in response to these attacks - despite many of them occurring on indigenous land.
Things have gotten so bad that even First Nations leaders and members have taken to pleading with people to stop attacking their churches.
One person who doesn't seem to have a lot of sympathy for these Christian churches is a former sidekick and right-hand man to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: Gerald Butts.
And by the way, I have the right to say this, because 40 years ago I did something as an altar boy and I hate it, so it's understandable. Burn it all down.
Listen, if the right-hand man to Justin Trudeau can say it, why can't the "civil liberties" boss in B.C. say it? This is the state we're in.

Gerald Butts celebrates after Erin O'Toole reveals carbon tax plan
https://tnc.news/2021/04/15/Gerald-Butts-celebrates-after-erin-otoole-reveals-carbon-tax-plan/
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's former top advisor Gerald Butts took to Twitter on Thursday to celebrate Conservative Party Leader Erin O'Toole's newly unveiled carbon tax plan.
In response to the plan, Butts congratulated the party for taking action by embracing a carbon tax.
"Conventional wisdom used to be you couldn't get elected in [Canada] on a carbon price. Now even Conservatives think you can't get elected without one. Congrats to all the Canadians who made that happen," tweeted Butts.
Butts resigned from his position as the prime minister's principal secretary in 2019 after being implicated in the Liberal government's SNC-Lavalin scandal.
Earlier today, the Conservative Party published a 15-page climate plan. The document, entitled "Secure the Environment: The Conservative Plan to Combat Climate Change," lays out a plan to reduce the Liberal $40 a tonne tax to $20 per tonne with an eventual increase to $50 a tonne.
The tax would apply for Canadians "each time they buy hydrocarbon-based fuel" with an added "Personal Low Carbon Savings Account" which will allow Canadians to withdraw money for so-called green expenditures.
"Canada must not ignore the reality of climate change," said O'Toole.
"It is already impacting our ecosystems, hurting our communities, and damaging our infrastructure. Canada's Conservatives will meet our Paris climate commitment and reduce emissions by 2030 to fight climate change and protect our environment. But we won't do it on the backs of working Canadians or by hurting our economy."
Other measures in the plan include a study on "new taxes on frequent flyers, non-electric luxury vehicles and second homes to deter activities that hurt the environment." A Conservative government would also spend $1 billion on domestic electric vehicle manufacturing and an additional $1 billion to deploy hydrogen technology.
During his campaign to lead the party, O'Toole promised voters that his government would end Trudeau's carbon tax. In March, O'Toole reiterated his commitment to "repeal Justin Turdeau's carbon tax.
"We will protect the environment and fight climate change, but we won't do it by making the poorest pay more," said O'Toole.

Q Research Canada #4 - Beavers Drain the Northern Swamp Edition

FSNC Lavelin-Trudeau
What Jody Wilson Raybould found out about SNC?
1. Saudi arabia financed SNC contracts in exchange for blocking energy east.
2. SNC used the Saudi financing to bring PM to head of liberal party and they own him. Their money bought the votes to make him leader and take down Harper.
3.SNC demanded that their bought and paid for pm buy transmountain (1 billion over asking I'm sure SNC got a cut).
4.SNC also demanded that they pick their price for and win all contracts for transmountain. No worries they sub everything out anyways.
5. SNC are bribing first nations to sign off on letting the pipeline thru. The first nations that already agree have been bribed. The ones that won't sign on are the few that couldn't be bought.
6. JWR found out how politics actually work and was outraged.
7. Sept. 17, 2018 Leona Alleslev crosses the floor joins the Conservatives
8. Sept. 19, 2018 Bill Casey announces he will not run for re election in 2019
9. Sept. 28, 2018 Colin Fraser announces he will not run for re election in 2019

22. Mar. 18, 2019 Michael Wernick resigns from Privy Council.
23. March 20 2019 Celina Caesar-Chavannes resigns from liberal party and sits as an independent.
24. Now Jane Phillpott states there is much more that Canadians need to know about #lavscam. You know what to do come #Election2019.
Beyond any doubt the election of Trudeau, could lead to chaos, martial law, western separation and civil war. Oh Trudeau has the IQ of a house plant! Crayon King charged with High Treason under the criminal code of Canada? I would like to add to his list: Justin Trudeau & Michael Wernick: The joke is on Canadian taxpayers.
When the Canadian government entered into an agreement with BlackRock in 2017, what occurred was an amalgamation with the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB). In doing so, Canada became a subsidiary of the world construction cartel. Key players in SNC Lavalin, the newly minted CIB, the Privy Council are developers of the social economy, a complex scheme to fleece Canada. They are operating above the law since that is exactly where these systems were created.

Q Research Canada #2: Lets make The True North Strong and Free Again
<<Not that he's not trying to bankrupt Alberta, like his Dad.
Recently, Dr. Barry Cooper, a professor of political science at the University of Calgary, made a persuasive argument that with 2019 now upon us, we are witnessing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's campaign to fulfill his father's dream of a powerless Alberta, stripped of its energy wealth in the name of climate change. According to Cooper, rather than attempt to simply steal Alberta's energy wealth as Pierre Trudeau tried to do with his National Energy Program, his son seeks to simply smash it out of existence.
Cooper observes that "in place of a single plan to confiscate Western Wealth, however we find a series of incremental policies designed to ensure that, as Trudeau's principle secretary Gerald Butts once put it, there would be no Canadian hydrocarbon industry within a generation."
The two most direct assaults on Alberta's energy sector are Bill C-48, the oilsand-specific tanker ban off the British Columbia coast, and the pending Bill C-69, which "reforms" the environmental assessment process to make obtaining approval to build energy projects even more difficult, to the point that some in the energy sector are saying that if Bill C-69 is enacted, there will be little reason to invest in Canada's energy sector. Add to this the ongoing blockade against pipelines leading to tidewater, and the Trudeau agenda could not be more clear.

<<Meanwhile, Saudi oil still gets a pass on Trudeau's enviro rules and taxes.
Just a quick question for the Trudeau government about its current tiff with the Saudis: If you're serious about standing up to Riyadh, how come you are stilling giving their oil a free pass? How come you have exempted it from your upcoming carbon tax and are not subjecting Saudi oil to the same environmental regulations you have imposed on Western Canadian oil?
It couldn't be because most Saudi oil is destined for Quebec?
You're supposed to be in a battle with the Saudis, yet an objective outside observer might think you're at war with Alberta, instead.

ot surprisingly, Press Progress also reported that "more than half of the Canada Infrastructure Bank's Board of Directors have Liberal Connections."
In 2006, Stephen Harper's first act as prime minister was to implement The Director of Prosecutions Act, an independent prosecutor's office designed to prevent future occurrences of corruption and allow public scrutiny. It worked perfectly! In fact, from that same article, Jody Wilson-Raybould tells us that Gerald Butts had "talked to me about how the statute was set up by Harper (and) that he does not like the law".
Guaranteed loans for this Infrastructure Bank project are just one issue. Another is that loans are only granted when a corporation or foundation proposal aligns with specific obligations. Terence Corcoran explains:
Corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainable development, environmental and social corporate governance (ESG), impact investing, triple bottom line, social finance - no CEO in any major industry can deliver a speech without confirming his company's dedication to one or all of the above along with a host of other politically correct objectives.
Corporations are being forced to abide with the UN Global Compact in order to obtain funding. Wasn't it the Trudeau Liberals that said the UN Global Compact was not legally binding?
Throughout the article mentioned above, you will see how investment in Alberta's oil sector is hampered by the political correctness imposed on corporations by the social economic model:
The rainforest should also be no place for bank CSR activities. But, in 2008, RBC pledged $500,000 to the Tides Canada Foundation to help fund the Great Bear Rainforest protection racket. Tides, whose objective is to kill Alberta's oil sands, raised millions to close off 64,000 square kilometers of British Columbia forest. In other words, RBC's corporate social responsibility - funded through its "Blue Water Project" - helped set up a rainforest that now serves as a barrier to getting Alberta oil to market.
This article also provides a brief summation of Canada's Investment Bank and the new social economy: "It's just lending out government money" says Caron. "That's not what the Infrastructure Bank is supposed to be about."
Indeed, the Bank's purpose is to receive private equity and invest it in Canadian infrastructure, not lend government money. And with time ticking away, repackaging old deals as new ones suggests things are not working out. "I have not heard of a single private firm that has decided to invest in the Infrastructure Bank," says Caron. Meanwhile, transit is still delayed, schools and community centres are still in disrepair, and social housing still isn't being built.
Back in 2006, developing the social economy in Canada was a mere idea written in the minutes of a meeting attended by corporate elite and policy makers. In 2019, the Social Investment Bank has materialized. It is our intention, here at CIN, to dig deeper into this subject. In the few years that social finance programs have existed, government has not spent tax-dollars to fund infrastructure projects for the social economy. This is an entirely new venture that will ultimately consume billions of dollars, all on the backs of the Canadian taxpayer, and all going towards non-profit initiatives. Brace yourselves, the red-wave is definitely upon us!

so you're here to encourage us not to vote against Turdeau?
but you're "not" a shill?
If scheer of Bernier get in power they will be much better (especially bernier) than Gerald Butts' gang and they will be controlled by Trump with NSA blackmail either way. Patriots in Canada need to get rid of Trudeau before worrying about U1 (which most retarded normies think is "just a conspiracy theory"), when the public finds out about U1 it will be time for Harper gang to pay.

Was seltsam ist.
Genau wann. Sie nannte Namen. Einschließlich des Premierministers selbst. Hier ist ihre Aussage:
https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/read-jody-wilson-rayboulds-full-remarks-to-the-house-of-commons-justice-committee
