On 12 June 2009, the Navy confirmed that Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Gary Roughead had ordered a study of the early deployment of Freedom, before the expected date of 2012. Anonymous sources inside Lockheed Martin reported that Roughead wanted to use the first LCS to patrol for pirates off the coast of Somalia.
On 13 October 2009, the Department of Defense announced Freedom would be deployed two years ahead of schedule. For this deployment, 20 additional sailors will be carried for Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure operations in two shipping containers in the mission module cargo area. These containers will not include sanitary facilities, so they will be forced to use the ones in the ship's berthing spaces. About half of the 20-member boarding team will be temporarily replaced with United States Coast Guard law enforcement officers for some portion of the deployment. John C. Harvey, Jr., said that while the deployment was a success, manning may need adjustment.
Operations
In her limited time at sea, Freedom has been "plagued by flawed designs and failed equipment since being commissioned, has at least 17 known cracks, and has repeatedly been beset by engine-related failures".
On 15 February 2010, Freedom set sail from Naval Station Mayport on its first deployment to support SOUTHCOM operations. On 22 February, off the coast of Colombia, the ship pursued a possible drug-running boat. The boat fled back into Colombian coastal waters and Freedom's crew recovered 500 lb (230 kg) of cocaine that had been dumped overboard by the boat's crew.
On 4 April 2010, Freedom entered the 3rd Fleet area of responsibility; carrying Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 22, Det. 2, an LCS Surface Warfare Mission Package, and a U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment.
She was expected to be dry docked in San Diego's Nassco shipyard so that her outer starboard waterjet could be replaced.
On 12 September 2010, the starboard Rolls-Royce MT30 gas turbine broke down and the ship had to rely on her diesel engines to return to port. CNO Roughead said that the media had overhyped the issue and that such breakdowns were not uncommon.
During a heavy-weather ocean trial in February 2011, the ship developed a six-inch (150 mm) crack in its hull that leaked 5 US gallons (19 L) of water an hour. The Navy proceeded to investigate, the problem appearing to be due to faulty welds rather than a design error. The repairs were scheduled to begin on 27 June 2011, and last until 19 September.
In February 2012, Freedom suffered minor flooding while underway off Southern California. An inflatable boot seal was deployed in a successful effort to contain the flooding, and the ship returned to San Diego, on its own power. This marked a return to the dry dock before the ship even completed its last post-repair shakedown. A "special trial" conducted in May 2012, found the ship fit for the deployment.
In July 2012, Freedom was dry docked in order to expand berthing by 20 and for firefighting and boat handling improvements. After another docking to apply a new paint scheme and apply another fix for the aft ramp, she departed for Singapore, with a core crew of 50, plus 3 trainees, plus a mission crew with berthing for 98. Additional crew above that level will again be bedded in the cargo spaces.
On 15 January 2013, the U.S. Defense Department's director of operational test and evaluation released a judgment on the LCS in an annual study. The report said that Freedom was "not expected to be survivable" in combat. Helicopters on board the ship cannot tow its mine-hunting sensors, so it must rely on uncrewed systems for mine countermeasures, although those systems are not in service, and will not be for several years. Her 30 mm (1.2 in) Mk44 Bushmaster IIs "exhibit reliability problems". The 57 mm Mk 110 gun is differently designed on the Freedom class, which causes vibrations at high speeds that make accurate firing difficult. The integrated weapons systems and air/surface search radar have "performance deficiencies" that affect the ship's "tracking and engagement of contacts".
In early 2013, the vessel took part in the National Geographic TV show " INSIDE: 21ST CENTURY WARSHIP " along with Independence.

There were at least two advisory boards purged, Defense Business Board (They were fired by group email, too! I love it.) and Defense Policy Board. It's not the chart you requested but here are the names:
"Members of the board received a brief email from Joshua Whitehouse, the White House liaison to the Department of Defense, that simply said, "if you are receiving this e-mail, your membership on the Defense Business Board has expired or is coming to an end."
"A number of board members have been terminated with a form letter. In my experience, I was very surprised that the White House would, at the eleventh hour, adjust an advisory board that for 19 years has had a record of nonpartisan support with the department," Michael Bayer, who until today was board chair, told POLITICO.
Besides Bayer, the other board members who were let go are Arnold Punaro, Atul Vashistha, John O'Connor, David Venlet, Paul Dolan, Scott Dorn, David Walker and David Van Slyke."
And:
The Defense Department on Friday said that a number of members of its Defense Policy Board including former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Madeleine Albright had been removed. (From Fox).
Former Democratic officials who were removed include former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former Justice Department official Jamie Gorelick, former Rep. Jane Harmon of California, and former Deputy Defense Secretary Rudy DeLeon, now part of the liberal Center for American Progress.
Republicans taken off the board included former arms control and Pentagon policy official J.D. Crouch, former Undersecretary of State Robert Joseph, and former House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia. Retired Adm. Gary Roughead, a former chief of naval operations, also left the board. (Washington Times)

Pentagon Purges Leading Advisors From Defense Policy Board - Jaweb
By
Elmoudjaweb -
November 25, 2020
Several members of the top federal advisory committee to the U.S. Department of Defense have been suddenly pushed out, multiple U.S. officials told Foreign Policy, in what appears to be the outgoing Trump administration's parting shot at scions of the foreign-policy establishment.
The directive, which the Pentagon's White House liaison Joshua Whitehouse sent on Wednesday afternoon, removes 11 high-profile advisors from the Defense Policy Board, including former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Madeleine Albright; retired Adm. Gary Roughead, who served as chief of naval operations; and a onetime ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, Jane Harman. Rudy De Leon, a former chief operating officer at the Pentagon once considered by then-Defense Secretary James Mattis for a high-level policy role, will also be ousted.
Also booted in today's sweep of the board, which is effective immediately, were former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and David McCormick, a former Treasury Department undersecretary during the George W. Bush administration. Both had been added to the board by former Mattis in 2017. Jamie Gorelick, a Clinton administration deputy attorney general; Robert Joseph, a chief U.S. nuclear negotiator who convinced Libya to give up weapons of mass destruction; former Bush Deputy National Security Advisor J.D. Crouch II; and Franklin Miller, a former top defense official, have also been removed.
This story is based on interviews with three current and former officials. The Defense Department did not immediately respond to request for comment.
The board, overseen by the Pentagon's top policy official, the undersecretary of defense for policy, serves as a kind of in-house think tank on retainer for top military leaders, providing independent counsel and advice on defense policy. The Defense Policy Board includes former top military brass, secretaries of state, members of Congress, and other senior diplomats and foreign-policy experts. The status of two other members of the panel-or who would replace the ousted members-was not immediately clear.
Officials said that the Trump administration had long tried to remake the board with figures seen as loyal to the president-and outside of the Washington establishment-but had received pushback from recently ousted Defense Secretary Mark Esper and acting Undersecretary of Defense for Policy James Anderson, who sought to keep the board in place to allow for policy continuity. Both Esper and Anderson were removed earlier this month in a purge of Pentagon officials.
The White House had sought to add Scott O'Grady, a former Air Force fighter pilot shot down over Bosnia, to the board to prepare him to be nominated for a top Pentagon position, as well as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a close ally of President Donald Trump. The administration had also vetoed adding retired Adm. Eric Olson, a former U.S. Special Operations Command chief, and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, as well as Gordon England, a former deputy secretary of defense during the Bush administration, over perceived anti-Trump ties.
"If they get treated like that, then who is going to want to volunteer?" a former senior Trump administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Foreign Policy.
While the board has no tangible role inside the Pentagon in the policymaking process, it routinely advises senior military leadership on some of the top strategic national security threats facing the United States. The board convened in October for classified discussions on formulating a long-term strategy toward China and deterrence in space, according to a notice from the Federal Register. The meeting included briefings from the CIA, the Pentagon's Office of Net Assessment, and other senior Pentagon policy officials.
The composition of the board has faced scrutiny from some Republican foreign-policy analysts, who say the current members do not accurately reflect the views of the administration, including its hard-line views toward China, as the Washington Times reported in October. Given the criticism, it is unclear why the White House waited until the final months of Trump's tenure in the Oval Office to make changes to the Defense Policy Board.
Some members of the board, including Roughead, Albright, and Harman, were added to the board during the Obama administration in 2011.
The move follows a recent decision by Whitehouse, the liaison officer, to begin political-style vetting of nonpolitical experts and employees on loan from think tanks, an effort that had only extended to political appointees in the past.

George P. Shultz - former US secretary of state
Gary Roughead - retired US Navy admiral
William J. Perry - former US secretary of defense
Sam Nunn - former US senator who served as chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations
James N. Mattis - retired US Marine Corps general
Richard Kovacevich - former CEO of Wells Fargo
Henry A. Kissinger - former US secretary of state
William H. Frist - heart and lung transplant surgeon and former US senator
William H. Foege - former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Sunny Balwani - president and COO of Theranos
Elizabeth Holmes - CEO and chairman of the board of Theranos

Holmes Background:
Holmes, the daughter of a U.S. government aid worker and a congressional committee staffer, grew up in Washington, D.C., and Houston, Texas, and spent time in China during high school. While there she started a business selling computer software to universities in Asia. After Holmes returned to the U.S., she pursued a degree in electrical and chemical engineering at Stanford University.
During a summer break from her studies at Stanford, Holmes took a job at the Genome Institute of Singapore to work on a computer chip designed to detect the presence of the SARS virus in the body. She then became interested in developing more-efficient medical devices that could improve upon traditional diagnostic testing and therapeutic assessment. Upon her return to Stanford, Holmes patented a device that attached to a person's body and measured the effectiveness of a given medication by comparing parameters of chemical markers produced by a diseased region with those of the therapeutic agent.

The Theranos board ALWAYS stood out as extremely suspicious. The company's vision (failed) was to make blood testing ubiquitous – machines in every home. At the time, I wondered if they were trying to take some sort of DNA inventory along the lines of Google's "Index the World's Information."
Interesting that SARS is being used now to do mass, global blood/data collection. I saw a story about travelers needing to have a covid passport based on blood tests.
Holmes was connected to DC, Houston, China, universities, Stanford, SARS, and blood testing. And had a board FILLED with heads of state and military.

Sorcha Faal today painted the U.S. Navy as thoroughly corrupt and evil
Russia Comes "Within Seconds" Of Sinking American Warship As US Navy Revolt Worsens
…and is more than eerily reminiscent to the events in 1949 when the US Navy staged its "Admiral's Revolt" openly defying the civilian leadership of the United States government so they could attempt to launch a war against the former Soviet Union-a global nuclear catastrophe only able to be averted by the newly installed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of State US Army General Omar Bradley-who was the most loved, respected and revered American military commander in all of World War II, and that no one dared oppose.
Unlike in 1949 when the US Navy staged their "Admiral's Revolt" to openly defy the civilian leadership of the United States government, this report concludes, against President Trump they are dangerously attempting to "become the civilian government of America"-an attempt they're making by putting forth as Democrat Party candidate for the 2020 US Presidential Election the barely known former mayor of South Bend-Indiana named Pete Buttigieg-but who in reality is a US Naval Intelligence officer first targeted by Russian intelligence services when, in 2004, he became the conference director for the rabidly anti-Russian organization The Cohen Group ran by former Clinton Regime Secretary of Defense William Cohen-and who, aside from being "groomed for power" by the US Navy at both Harvard and Oxford Universities, in 2009, was transferred to in-active status in the Navy Reserves believed to be because of his rampant open homosexuality being incompatible with his intelligence duties-but was revolted against by US Navy Admiral Gary Roughead who, a year later, in 2010, led the Obama Regime charge to allow homosexuals in all branches of the US military-thus potentially setting up a battle where Trump will not only be fighting to save America from demonic radical socialist ideology and political correctness, but fighting to keep the US Navy from taking over his nation, too-with it, also, without doubt, being known by Trump that US Naval Intelligence officer Bob Woodward already brought down one President, and he is their next target, but is much more harder to destroy than President Richard Nixon was as history is proving every day about a man who seems not to know what the word "lose" even is.

Reminder who was on the Board of Theranos with Elizabeth Holmes
From its incorporation in 2003 until 2018, Holmes was the company's chief executive officer.
She recruited Channing Robertson, a chemical-engineering professor at Stanford, to be a technical advisor and the company's first board member during its early years.
Holmes' then-boyfriend Sunny Balwani, a software engineer whom Holmes had met during high school, joined the company as its president and chief operating officer in 2009.[109]
In July 2011, Holmes was introduced to former U.S. Secretary of State George P. Shultz, who joined the Theranos board of directors that month.[110]
Over the next three years, Shultz helped to introduce almost all the outside directors on the "all-star board,
" which included William Perry (former U.S. Secretary of Defense),
Henry Kissinger (former U.S. Secretary of State),
Sam Nunn (former U.S. Senator),
Bill Frist (former U.S. Senator and heart-transplant surgeon),
Gary Roughead(Admiral, USN, retired)
=James Mattis (General, USMC)==
Richard Kovacevich (former Wells Fargo Chairman and CEO) and
Riley Bechtel(chairman of the board and former CEO at Bechtel Group).[110][111][112] The board was criticized for consisting "mainly of directors with diplomatic or military backgrounds."[24]
In April 2016, Theranos announced its medical advisory board which included past presidents or board members of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry.[113] Members were invited to review the company's proprietary technologies and advise on the integration into clinical practice.[113] The board included past presidents or board members of
the American Association for Clinical Chemistry such as Susan A. Evans,
William Foege, former director U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),
David Helfet, director of the Orthopedic Trauma Service at the Hospital for Special Surgery and professors,
Ann M. Gronowski, Larry J. Kricka, Jack Ladenson, Andy O. Miller and Steven Spitalnik.[114][115]

Holmes was associated with many powerful and well-connected individuals who supported her.[16] The 12-member Theranos board included former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former Secretary of Defense William Perry, former Secretary of State George Shultz, former Senators Sam Nunn and Bill Frist, former Navy Admiral Gary Roughead, former Marine Corps General James Mattis, and former CEOs Dick Kovacevich of Wells Fargo and Riley Bechtel of Bechtel.[61] Her high-profile private investors included media-mogul Rupert Murdoch, President Trump's Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, Walmart's Walton family, the billionaire Cox family of Cox Enterprises and Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, all of whom lost tens to hundreds of millions of dollars each when the company folded.[62] Holmes was a supporter of Hillary Clinton during her 2016 run for president, and was on friendly terms with her daughter Chelsea Clinton.[63]
In some cases she had personal friendships. She often attended parties at George Shultz's house as a family friend.[16] Shultz's grandson Tyler Shultz, a recent college graduate, landed his first job at Theranos. Tyler was one of the whistleblowers who spoke to WSJ investigative reporter John Carreyrou about corruption in the company. On learning this, Holmes threatened through her lawyer David Boies to sue the Shultz family and bankrupt them if his grandson continued to talk.[16] George Shultz stayed loyal to Holmes and demanded his grandson cease talking to the Wall Street Journal.[16]

U.S. Navy may stop docking in Haifa after Chinese take over port
Concerns prompt 'review' of Shanghai agreement within Israel's inner security cabinet, sources say.
The US Navy has acknowledged that its longstanding operations in Haifa may change once a Chinese firm takes over the civilian port in 2021, prompting Israel's national security cabinet to revisit the arrangement, The Jerusalem Post has learned. Haifa, the nation's largest port city, regularly hosts joint US-Israeli naval drills and visits from American vessels. But a 2015 agreement between Israel's Transportation Ministry and Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) - a company in which the Chinese government has a majority stake - has raised intelligence and security concerns that are only now prompting an interagency review.
That agreement granted SIPG control over the port for 25 years. The Chinese company has committed $2 billion to the project and, according to state-run media, plans to transform the port's bay terminal into the largest harbor in the country. A representative of the Sixth Fleet said the navy's partnership with Israel remains "steadfast." "Our US Navy ships frequently visit Haifa, Israel, for both US-Israel bilateral military activity and port calls," Commander Kyle Raines told the Post, when asked whether China's coming presence might affect fleet operations in the Mediterranean city. "For now, there are no changes to our operations in Israel," the commander continued. "I can't speculate on what might or might not occur in 2021."
Three sources familiar with the matter said that due to concerns that US defense officials privately shared with their Israeli counterparts, the Israeli government has launched "a review of the agreement at a high level," specifically among members of the inner cabinet. According to one source, several members expressed worry that sensitive infrastructure matters have not been properly vetted by Israel's full national security cabinet prior to approval. "You don't want a decision that was made ostensibly for business reasons to have an impact on Israel's relationship with the American navy," the source said. The deal was signed off by Israel Katz, who was serving as transportation minister at the time and has remained in the position since. He occupies a seat in the national security cabinet.
A senior IDF officer confirmed that the review is under way. But it is unclear whether Israel has any recourse to allay US concerns with the China project, which is already sealed and in motion. "Historically, it's interesting to see [that] the whole awakening is now when the contract was signed in 2015 - it begs the question what the hype is all about. It's probably more conducive now because of the US-China tensions over trade, national security and the like," said Assaf Orion, a retired Israeli brigadier-general and expert on Israel-China relations now based at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. "There is always a question of encouraging investment versus managing risk." "The bottom line here is that Israel will make a fatal mistake by doing either or both of the following: disregarding China's potential to advance Israel's economy, and doing it with our eyes shut," Orion continued. "We must keep our eyes open, fully aware of the risk management requirements and its possible impact on the US-Israel relationship."
Retired Israeli and American defense and intelligence officials raised concerns throughout the summer that Chinese management of the port might jeopardize America's operations there. The former head of Israel's Mossad, Efraim Halevy, sounded an alarm in recent months over the security implications of China's creeping presence across Israel's critical infrastructure. And retired admiral Gary Roughead, ex-chief of US naval operations, warned that a Chinese-run seaport in the bay could force the navy to dock its warships elsewhere. "The Chinese port operators will be able to monitor closely US ship movements, be aware of maintenance activity and could have access to equipment moving to and from repair sites and interact freely with our crews over protracted periods," Roughead remarked during a conference last month at the University of Haifa. "Significantly, the information systems and new infrastructure integral to the ports and the likelihood of information and electronic surveillance systems jeopardize US information and cybersecurity," he added.

According to comments recently reported by Newsweek, ex-chief of naval operations Adm. Gary Roughead (USN, ret'd) believes that a Chinese-run port in Haifa would mean that U.S. Navy ships could not regularly call at the Haifa naval base, Israel's largest naval installation.

China Read Emails of Top U.S. Officials /so this was well known in 2010/
China's cyber spies have accessed the private emails of "many" top Obama administration officials, according to a senior U.S. intelligence official and a top secret document obtained by NBC News, and have been doing so since at least April 2010.
The email grab -- first codenamed "Dancing Panda" by U.S. officials, and then "Legion Amethyst" -- was detected in April 2010, according to a top secret NSA briefing from 2014.
The intrusion into personal emails was still active at the time of the briefing and, according to the senior official, is still going on.
In 2011, Google disclosed that the private gmail accounts of some U.S. officials had been compromised, but the briefing shows that private email accounts from other providers were compromised as well.
The government email accounts assigned to the officials, however, were not hacked because they are more secure, says the senior U.S. intelligence official.
The senior official says the private emails of "all top national security and trade officials" were targeted.
The Chinese also harvested the email address books of targeted officials, according to the document, reconstructing and then "exploiting the(ir) social networks" by sending malware to their friends and colleagues.
North Korea's state newspaper accuses U.S. of plotting invasion
The time period overlaps with Hillary Clinton's use of a private email account while Secretary of State from Jan. 21, 2009 to Feb. 1, 2013. The names and ranks of the officials whose emails were actually grabbed, however, were not disclosed in the NSA briefing nor by the intelligence official.
A different NSA document leaked by Edward Snowden revealed that in late 2010 China had attempted to spy on the emails of four U.S. officials, including then Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead. The document, posted on-line by Der Spiegel earlier this year, said the Chinese spies had tried to insert malicious software into their computers.
NBC News reported in 2013 that prior to the 2008 presidential election, Chinese cyber spies had targeted the presidential campaigns of then Sen. Obama and Sen. John McCain in order to read emails and policy papers, and had successfully compromised some emails, including private correspondence from McCain.
The "Dancing Panda" campaign revealed in the 2014 NSA briefing paper was among more than 30 "intrusion sets" launched by China that the NSA and other intelligence units identified last year in classified documents. NBC News reported last week that those campaigns resulted in more than 600 successful attacks on targets.
The NSA declined to comment.

Pentagon Purges Leading Advisors From Defense Policy Board

CLEANING HOUSE.. DONE IN 30..
The Trump administration quietly pushed out nearly a dozen prominent defense advisors after its Pentagon leadership purge
In its final months, the Trump administration has reportedly ousted most of the high-profile advisors on the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board.
"We can confirm that several members of the Department's Defense Policy Board have been removed," a US defense official told Insider Friday following an earlier report from Foreign Policy that revealed that at least 11 of the board's 13 members were removed Wednesday by a directive sent by the Pentagon's White House liaison Joshua Whitehouse.
The official said they were part of "long-considered changes" to the board of outside experts tasked with providing senior Pentagon officials with independent, informed advice.
The board members who were removed reportedly included former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Henry Kissinger, former Chief of Naval Operations Adm. (Ret.) Gary Roughead, and former chief operating officer at the Pentagon Rudy De Leon.
