'Under Attack' - UK Media Regulator Claims Farage Network GB News Broke 'Impartiality' Rules
The British government's media regulator has found that insurgent television channel GB News has violated broadcasting rules over episodes hosted by Conservative Members of Parliament.
The Office of Communications (OfCom), which polices content on television and radio in Britain, said on Monday that five episodes aired by GB News, including two hosted by Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg and three co-hosted by Esther McVey and Philip Davies contravened impartiality rules.
While politicians in Britain are not permitted to host news programmes, they are permitted to host current affairs shows. However, the broadcasting regulator ruled that on at least five occasions, the shows saw the three Tory MPs acting "as newsreaders, news interviewers or news reporters in sequences which clearly constituted news - including reporting breaking news events - without exceptional justification" and "news was, therefore, not presented with due impartiality."
"Politicians have an inherently partial role in society, and news content presented by them is likely to be viewed by audiences in light of that perceived bias," the regulator said in a statement per the BBC.
"In our view, the use of politicians to present the news risks undermining the integrity and credibility of regulated broadcast news."
For now, Ofcom said that it will not impose any penalty on GB News, but warned the network to not violate its rules again. According to the Guardian, at least eight other investigations are ongoing against the right-wing network.

MP's Call For 'Urgent Investigation' Into Britain's Massive Spike In Excess Deaths
MPs have called for an urgent investigation into the soaring death rates as thousands more people than usual are dying in Britain each week.
The surge in 'excess deaths' just so happen to coincide with the roll out of the covid 'vaccine'.....
Some believe that the vaccines are a likely contributing factor to the number of excess deaths in the UK, yet that is something rarely mentioned.
Former minister Esther McVey has asked for an 'urgent and thorough investigation' into the excess deaths.....if it goes ahead, will it include an investiagtion into the covid jab?
17,381 deaths were registered in England and Wales in the seven days up to January 13. That is 2,837 above average for the time of year.
The Mail Online reports: This is the highest number of excess deaths since 3,429 in the week to February 12, 2021, when the UK was experiencing its second wave of Covid-19 infections and vaccination had only just begun.
On that occasion, deaths involving coronavirus accounted for 37 per cent of all those registered, according to the Office for National Statistics.
But in the most recent week, Covid-19 accounted for just 5 per cent of the total - meaning other factors are likely to be driving the high level of mortality.
Health experts say this could include ambulance delays, long waits in A&E, unmet need during the pandemic and major backlogs for routine NHS care.
Excess deaths, sometimes known as extra deaths, are the number of deaths that are above the average for the same period in previous years.
This winter has seen a sharp spike in the figures, with deaths 21 per cent and 20 per cent above average in the last two weeks of December, followed by 14 per cent and 20 per cent in the first two weeks of January.
The Royal College of Emergency Medicine has warned up to 500 people a week are dying as a result of ambulance and treatment delays.
Labour's shadow public health minister Andrew Gwynne on Tuesday accused the government of 'denial and buck-passing' and branded Steve Barclay 'part-man, part-ostrich' because of his refusal to accept the figures.
Speaking during health questions in the Commons, Mr Gwynne said: 'There were 50,000 more deaths than we would have otherwise expected in 2022.
'Excluding the pandemic, that is the worst figure since 1951.
'The Health Secretary - part-man, part-ostrich - says he doesn't accept those figures, but as many as 500 people are dying every week waiting for essential care and we're still getting the same old Tory denial and buck-passing.'
Health minister Maria Caulfield replied: 'Well I prefer to deal with facts...The BMJ has ranked the UK mid-table in Europe for mortality figures, comparable with Italy.
'In fact, Germany has got higher excess deaths at 15.6 per cent, Finland at 20.5 per cent and Poland at 13.3 per cent.'
She said there are 'clinical reasons for excess deaths, not political ones, and perhaps he needs to recognise that fact'.
Conservative former minister Esther McVey asked for an 'urgent and thorough investigation' into the excess deaths.
She told the Commons: 'The Chief Medical Officer recently warned that current non-Covid excess deaths is being driven in part by patients not getting statins or blood pressure medicines during the pandemic.
'But when looking at the data on statins on openprescribing.net, which is based on monthly NHS prescribing, there appears not to be a drop.
'So where is the evidence? And if there isn't one, what is causing these excess deaths?

British MPs call for probe into massive spike in deaths
Nearly3,000 more Britons are dying than average on a weeklybasis, and it's not Covid-19 that's responsible
British MPs call for probe into massive spike in deaths
Troubled by national statistics showing 20% excess deaths per week, UK MPs have demanded an investigation, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday. Unlike the last time excess deaths reached such levels, during the second Covid-19 wave, few of these deaths could be attributed to the virus.
Speaking before the House of Commons on Tuesday, Conservative MP Esther McVey skewered Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty for blaming the spike in non-Covid excess deaths on "patients not getting statins or blood pressure medicines during the pandemic," pointing out that the monthly figures for statin prescriptions had remained constant.
"Where is the evidence? And if there isn't one, what is causing these excess deaths?" she asked, demanding the minister "commit to an urgent and thorough investigation of the matter."
Labour shadow public health minister Andrew Gwynne described health secretary Steve Barclay as "part man, part ostrich" over his refusal to confront the issue, accusing PM Rishi Sunak's government of "denial and buck-passing."
"There were 50,000 more deaths than we would have otherwise expected in 2022," he told the House of Commons on Tuesday. "Excluding the pandemic, that's the worst figure since 1951."
According to the Office for National Statistics, 2,837 more people died in the second week of January than normal in England and Wales, with just 5% of those deaths being attributable to Covid-19.e
The last time excess deaths were so high, during the second week of February 2021, Covid-19 deaths made up 37% of the total. Nor is the statistic an outlier - the last two weeks of December saw 21% and 20% excess deaths.
The Royal College of Emergency Medicine reported as many as 500 people a week are dying because they cannot receive emergency treatment in time. A record 54,532 people waited more than 12 hours in emergency departments to actually be admitted to the hospital once the decision was made to admit them, according to NHS data, and only 65% of patients were seen within four hours.
Last month, Whitty warned that "postponement of elective and semi-elective care and screening" due to lockdowns and NHS delays would result in another wave of mortality after Covid-19 had largely subsided, with undiagnosed cancers and other chronic conditions claiming a larger than usual number of victims.
they knew it was intended. Bring the judgement of the Lord God Almighty Now. The lying starts feverishly now. They knew!

20 July 2022
Dear Ms McVey,
As National Statistician and Chief Executive of the UK Statistics Authority, I am responding to your
Parliamentary Question asking what steps are being taken to investigate the higher than expected
rate of deaths of 12.2 per cent above the five-year average (38654).
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) publishes statistics on deaths registered in England and
Wales. Mortality statistics are compiled from information supplied when deaths are certified and
registered as part of civil registration.
The term 'excess deaths' refers to the number of deaths above the five-year average. The
average for 2015 to 2019 has been used for deaths registered in 2020, and for deaths registered
in 2021 as this provides a comparison of the number of deaths expected in a usual (nonpandemic) year. For deaths registered in 2022, the five-year average comprises the years 2016,
2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021. This moves our five-year average along by a year, ensuring it
accounts for the changing population structure but does not include the exceptionally high number
of deaths seen in 2020. For more information, please see our related blog1
.
As well as releasing the Deaths Registered Weekly in England and Wales2 statistical bulletin, we
publish Monthly Mortality Analysis3
. This release looks at deaths in more detail, for example, what
causes are above the five-year average and are contributing to the excess. We also publish
reports on excess mortality specifically, the last release provided analysis up to December 20214
.
We will be updating this over the coming months to include analysis of the current period of
excess mortality.
Yours sincerely,
Professor Sir Ian Diamond

UK's Boris Johnson shakes up government with Cabinet shuffle
This is ongoing, full details yet to come'''
Johnson was aiming to tighten his grip on government after winning a big parliamentary majority in December's election. That victory allowed Johnson to take Britain out of the European Union last month, delivering on his key election promise.
Now his Conservative administration faces the even bigger challenge of negotiating a new relationship with the 27-nation EU by the end of this year. The two sides are aiming to have a deal covering trade, security and other areas in place by the time a post-Brexit transition period ends on Dec. 31.
So far, the two sides are far apart in their demands. And even with a deal, the U.K. faces a huge adjustment when decades of seamless trade and travel with the EU end at the start of 2021.
Johnson began his Cabinet shuffle by firing Northern Ireland Secretary Julian Smith - a surprise move. Smith had been widely praised for helping to end political deadlock that left Northern Ireland without a regional government and assembly for three years. After pressure from the British and Irish governments, the main Irish nationalist and British unionist power-sharing parties returned to work last month.
As well as shuffling his Cabinet, Johnson needs to appoint a new leader for the U.N. climate change conference that Britain is due to host later this year. The summit, known as the 26th Conference of the Parties, or COP26, is scheduled to be held in Glasgow in November.
Planning has got off to a rocky start, with Johnson last week firing Claire O'Neill, a former British government minister appointed last year to head up the event.

Business secretary Andrea Leadsom, Attorney General Geoffrey Cox, housing minister Esther McVey and environment secretary Theresa Villiers among those to follow.
Alok Sharma is expected to be promoted from his current cabinet post at international development, while Paymaster General Oliver Dowden - who attends cabinet - is also in line for a bigger job.

Conservative Party leadership contest
Media captionThe names of candidates to officially enter the Conservative leadership race are announced by Dame Cheryl Gillan
The final candidates for the Tory leadership race have been confirmed, with 10 running to become the next PM.
Jeremy Hunt, Dominic Raab, Matt Hancock and Michael Gove - who launched their campaigns ahead of the nomination deadline - are on the final list.
Conservative MPs will now take part in a series of votes to whittle the candidates down to the final two.
The two MPs will then face the wider Tory membership to decide on the next leader of their party, and the country.
Vice chairman of the party's backbench 1922 committee Dame Cheryl Gillan announced the list.
The candidates are:
Environment Secretary Michael Gove
Health Secretary Matt Hancock
Former Chief Whip Mark Harper
Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt
Home Secretary Sajid Javid
Former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson
Former Leader of the House Andrea Leadsom
Former Work and Pensions Secretary Esther McVey
Former Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab
International Development Secretary Rory Stewart
To be allowed to run, the MPs needed to have a proposer, a seconder and the support of six other members.
Sam Gyimah, the only contender backing another referendum on Brexit, withdrew from the race shortly after nominations closed, saying there was not enough time to build support.
Mrs May officially stepped down as the leader of the Conservative Party last week, but will remain as prime minister until her successor is chosen.

Race to succeed UK PM May centers on 'no deal' Brexit battle
LONDON (Reuters) - The prospect of a "no deal" Brexit was fast becoming the central battle of the race to succeed British Prime Minister Theresa May on Sunday, as environment minister Michael Gove became the eighth candidate to declare. May said on Friday she was quitting over her failure to deliver Brexit, potentially opening the way for a new leader who could seek a more divisive split with the European Union and lead to confrontation with the bloc or a possible parliamentary election.
Setting out their pitch to the Conservative Party's largely pro-Brexit membership who will decide the outcome of the contest, four of the leadership hopefuls have said Britain must leave the EU on Oct. 31 even if this means a no-deal Brexit. "I will fight for a fairer deal in Brussels … if not I will be clear we will leave on WTO terms in October," former Brexit minister Dominic Raab, who bookmakers rank as the second favorite to win, told BBC TV. "If you're not willing to walk away from a negotiation, it doesn't focus the mind of the other side … I will not ask for an extension." Fellow contenders Esther McVey and Andrea Leadsom both made similar comments on Sunday. Former foreign minister Boris Johnson, the bookmakers' favorite to replace May, wrote in his weekly column for the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "No one sensible would aim exclusively for a no-deal outcome. No one responsible would take no-deal off the table."
Gove, a leading campaigner for Brexit during the 2016 referendum campaign and a candidate in the Conservative leadership contest that May ultimately won, told reporters on Sunday that he planned to run again. "I am ready to unite the Conservative and Unionist Party, ready to deliver Brexit and ready to lead this great country," he said. In an interview with the BBC later, he said Britain would "be able to get through" a no-deal Brexit but it was "ultimately better for all of us if we secure a deal and leave in an orderly way."

7 resignations and counting: May's government 'falling apart before our eyes' over Brexit deal
Seven high profile resignations have followed on the heels of Theresa May's announcement that her cabinet has settled on a Brexit deal, with Labour claiming that the Conservative government is at risk of completely dissolving.
Shailesh Vara, the Minister of State at the Northern Ireland Office was the first top official to resign after the prime minister announced that her cabinet had reached a draft EU withdrawal agreement.

Esther McVey, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, submitted her letter of resignation shortly afterwards. More resignations have followed.
Labour's shadow Cabinet Office minister, Jon Trickett, predicted that this is the beginning of the end for May's government.

Theresa May has reshuffled her cabinet, but let none of us pretend this is business as usual. Our government is made up of self-serving ideologues and careerists. This isn't politics at its best. It's shameless.
McVey championed the 'bedroom-tax' claiming it was a way to "tackle overcrowding and to make better use of our housing stock" and combat a £24 billion Housing Benefit bill.
Just 6% of tenants had downsized because of the rules, the government confirmed in March 2014.
The Guardian noted that two-thirds of those affected were disabled tenants and that if and when they move, the taxpayer may be forced to meet the costs of adapting the new property.
In a world of fake news and downright mendacity, lying to parliament may seem like just another day in politics. But the work and pensions secretary Esther McVey's non-apology in the Commons on Wednesday, deliberately repeating fabrications about the universal credit (UC) disaster, takes indifference to facts to a new level of insolence.

A Tory MP who has fought against slashing the maximum bet on high stakes gambling machines received thousands of pounds of tickets from bookies in the past year.
Philip Davies got tickets to top horse racing meetings, such as the Cheltenham Festival, from the likes of Tory donor Ladbrokes.
Work and Pensions Secretary Esther McVey, who reportedly led a Cabinet revolt against cutting maximum stakes on the betting machines, got a free ticket for Cheltenham with Mr Davies, but had not declared it on her entry on the register of interests.
Esther McVey policy ruled 'Perverse & unlawful' by court
21 APRIL, 2018 4:34 PM / 2 COMMENTS ON Esther McVey POLICY RULED 'PERVERSE & UNLAWFUL' BY COURT
There's been more bad news for the DWP. The high court has ruled that part of one its policies over the two-child limit for benefit claimants is "perverse" and "unlawful".
