We Can't Control This: The Populist Tide Is Coming For Both Parties
by Tyler Durden
Monday, Jul 13, 2026 - 09:35 PM
Authored by Charles Bass and Richard Swett via RealClearPolitics.com,
Who was David Brat?
Many AmEricans have forgotten the name. We haven't.
In 2014, David Brat, then a little-known economics professor, stunned the political world by defeating House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in a Republican primary in Virginia. At the time, most observers viewed the upset as an isolated event - a local revolt against an established leader who had lost touch with his district. In retrospect, it was something much larger. David Brat's victory was an early warning shot. It signaled that a powerful populist movement was building within the Republican Party, one fueled by frustration, distrust of institutions, anger toward political elites, and a conviction among many voters that neither party was listening to them. Two years later, that same current helped propel Donald Trump to the presidency and fundamentally reshape the Republican Party.
As we watched with dismay the results of the New York Democratic congressional primaries, the memory of David Brat came floating back.
What happened in New York may prove to be a similar moment for Democrats. For years, political analysts have treated populism as primarily a Republican phenomenon. That was always a mistake. Populism is not an ideology. It is a political force. It can emerge from the left or the right. It thrives whenever large numbers of citizens conclude that the people running the country's major institutions no longer understand or care about their concerns.
Today, both parties are confronting their own versions of that phenomenon.
The populism that has transformed the Republican Party often channels its frustrations toward immigration, globalization, cultural change, and government dependency. The populism now emerging within parts of the Democratic coalition directs its anger toward concentrated wealth, large corporations, and what it sees as entrenched political and economic power. The targets differ. The emotions do not. At its core, populism reflects a broad loss of confidence in elites - political, economic, academic, media, and corporate. Millions of AmEricans increasingly believe that the institutions that once commanded public trust are no longer delivering results, no longer accountable, and no longer responsive.
That sentiment has been building for years. The financial crisis damaged confidence in Wall Street. Endless political gridlock damaged confidence in Washington. Social media accelerated distrust of traditional news organizations. Rising housing costs, student debt, stagnant wages, and growing economic inequality left many younger AmEricans questioning whether the system works for them at all. When confidence in institutions erodes, voters look elsewhere.
They become more willing to embrace candidates who promise disruption rather than stability, confrontation rather than compromise, and sweeping change rather than incremental reform.
As former members of Congress who represented New Hampshire's Second Congressional District from opposite political parties, we find this trend deeply troubling. AmErican democracy has historically depended on a broad center. Progress came not because one side achieved total victory, but because competing interests eventually found common ground. The system was designed to reward coalition-building and compromise. Today, compromise is increasingly viewed as weakness.
Moderation is often treated as betrayal. Political incentives now favor outrage over persuasion and ideological purity over practical governance. That dynamic is affecting both parties.
The Republican Party has already experienced a dramatic populist transformation.
The Democratic Party may now be entering a similar period of internal upheaval.
Whether that process ultimately reshapes Democratic politics as profoundly as Trump's movement reshaped the GOP remains to be seen. But the signs are increasingly difficult to ignore.
What concerns us most is that the underlying forces driving these movements are not going away. Neither party has yet found a convincing answer to the frustrations that fuel populism. Economic insecurity remains widespread. Institutional trust remains low. Political polarization continues to deepen. Younger voters are increasingly skeptical of traditional leadership. Social media amplifies anger faster than solutions. These are not temporary conditions. They are structural challenges.

Karem was a foreign policy legislative assistant for U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell.[3] He was also an advisor to former Vice President Dick Cheney, specifically with respect to Middle East affairs. Karem was a member of Cheney's national security staff from February 2005 to January 2009 and was a researcher for Cheney's memoir.[4][5]
Karem later worked as an advisor to then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.[3] In August 2014, Karem left Cantor's office to serve as policy advisor for U.S. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy.[6]
Karem served as a member of Donald Trump's 2016 transition team as an adviser to CIA Director Mike Pompeo during Pompeo's confirmation process.[7]

A real historic photo of bipartisanship on Immigration
This is a genuine photograph from around 2013, taken during the period when the bipartisan "Gang of Eight" senators were working on comprehensive immigration reform. The four men are:Left: Eric Cantor (then House Majority Leader, R-VA) - red tie, big smile
Next: Marco Rubio (R-FL) - red tie
Next: John McCain (R-AZ) - blue tie
Right: Chuck Schumer (D-NY) - purple-ish tie
The image appears to capture a moment of celebration or press event related to the immigration bill negotiations, where Republicans and Democrats (including Schumer and McCain) collaborated closely. Why Schumer might look slightly "off" to some viewers:Lighting and angle: The photo is taken in a congressional hearing room or press setting with overhead lighting, creating natural shadows and highlights. Schumer is positioned slightly farther back, and his face catches the light differently (brighter on his bald head and cheeks).
Expression and pose: He's smiling broadly but his head is turned more toward the camera, while the others are grouped tighter. This can create a subtle depth-of-field illusion in lower-resolution versions.
Tie color: His tie is a darker blue/purple, contrasting with the red ties of the Republicans, which might make him stand out more.
No evidence of manipulation:Consistent shadows, lighting direction, and grain across all faces and suits.
No mismatched edges, color fringing, or cloning artifacts typical of poor Photoshop work.
The photo has been widely published in reputable sources (e.g., AZCentral, Washington Post retrospectives on the 2013 immigration bill) without any claims of alteration.

The Indiana Republicanis on a one-man crusade to deny all federal funding to the group - not just the money it gets for reproductive health and family planning services, but every penny it gets for anything.
"If Planned Parenthood wants to be involved in providing counseling services and HIV testing, they ought not be in the business of providing abortions," Pence told POLITICO in an interview Tuesday. "As long as they aspire to do that, I'll be after them."
For three legislative sessions in a row, Pence has introduced legislation that would prevent any entity that provides abortion from receiving funds through Title X, the only federal program dedicated to reproductive health and family planning.
This week, Pence went even further, introducing an amendment to the continuing resolution that would strip Planned Parenthood - and Planned Parenthood alone - of all federal funding.
Pence's latest maneuver comes at an inopportune time for many in the Republican Party.
Some GOP leaders - including Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels - have urged their party to downplay hot-button social issues in order to win over moderate voters ahead of the 2012 presidential race. Others, like House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), have said House Republicans must focus on creating jobs and cutting spending.

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And PRAY in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of PRAYers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on PRAYing for all the saints."

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

Q movement about Saving Babies.
Idiots, pro abortionist continue to Trash Pence.
VPPence is part of Rolling Thunder!
The House just approved Rep. Mike Pence's amendment to cut off funding to Planned Parenthood, checking off a hot-button social issue even as it set up a bigger showdown over defunding the health care law.
The vote was 240-185 with 11 Democrats voting for the amendment, and seven Republicans voting against. One member voted present. A group of Republicans on the floor applauded when the vote hit 218.
That amendment managed to suck up three hours of often emotional debate time Thursday night, which is a big part of the reason the health care law defunding votes got pushed into today.
Pence, of Indiana, touched off a vicious back-and-forth Thursday night in which Republicans insisted the organization is too aggressive about performing abortions and several Democrats charged that the GOP was waging a "war on women."
Pence said the amendment captures a rough public consensus that they accept legal abortions, but don't want to pay for them.
He did get House Majority Leader Eric Cantor to weigh in on his side, declaring, "The time has come to respect the wishes of the majority of AmEricans who adamantly oppose using taxpayer dollars for abortions."
Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler called the amendment a "bill of attainder"- saying it was unconstitutional as such because the legislation was targeting a specific group.
"[An attainder is] a legislative enacted penalty, in this case no funding, directed at an identifiable person or organization to punish them for something. Article I Section 9 says 'no bill of attainder or ex post facto should be passed.' Fundamental foundation of constitutional law. If Planned Parenthood or anyone else is doing terrible things and ought to be punished, that's up to the courts," said the New York congressman.

This isn't your grandfather's Republican party. These Young Guns of the House GOP-Cantor (the leader), Ryan (the thinker), and McCarthy (the strategist)-are ready to take their belief in the principles that have made AmErica great and translate it into solutions that will make the future even better, solutions that will create private sector jobs, maximize individual freedom, and establish a better world for our children. This groundbreaking book is a call to action that sets forth a plan for growth, opportunity, and commitment that will propel this country to prosperity once again. COLD ANGER- Entire Institutional Systems Will Be Dispatched Like a Feather In a Hurricane...
June 25, 2016 | Sundance
"Brexit Voters Were Angry" - "Donald Trump's supporters are angry".
At this point, if you are on the team still trying to convince anyone that this entire assembly of our union is headed in the right direction, well, you might want to revisit your proximity to the 2016 election ballpark. Because you're probably not just out of the city - but you're also out of the same state the election ballpark is located in.....
There's a level of anger far deeper and more consequential than expressed rage or visible behavior,it's called Cold Anger.
Cold Anger does not need to go to violence. For those who carry it, no conversation is needed when we meet. You cannot poll or measure it; specifically most who carry it avoid discussion. And that decision has nothing whatsoever to do with any form of correctness.
We watched the passage of Obamacare at 1:38am on the day before Christmas Eve in 2009. We watched the Senate, then the House attempt passing Amnesty in 2014. We've watched the $900 billion Stimulus Bill being spent each year, every year, for seven consecutive years. Omnibus, Porkulous, QE1, QE2, Bailouts, Crony-Capitalism.
Cold Anger absorbs betrayal silently, often prudently.
We've waited each year, every year, for eight years, to see a federal budget, only to be given another $2 trillion Omnibus spending bill by Speaker Ryan. We've watched the ridiculing of cops, the riots, and the lack of support for laws, or their enforcement. We've been absorbing.
Cold Anger is not hatred, it is far more purposeful.
Cold Anger takes notice of the liars, even from a great distance - seemingly invisible to the mob. Cold Anger will still hold open the door for the riot goer. Mannerly. We've watched our borders being intentionally unsecured. We've watched Islamic Terrorists slaughter AmEricans as our politicians proclaim their uncertainty of motive.
Cold Anger when evidenced is more severe because it is more strategic. Eric Cantor, the Brexit and Donald Trump might aide your understanding.
Cold Anger does not gloat; it absorbs consistent vilification and ridicule as fuel. This sensibility does not want to exist, it is forced to exist in otherwise unwilling hosts - who also refuse to be destabilized by it.
Transgender bathrooms appear seemingly more important than border security. Employment and standard of living in Vietnam and Southeast Asia appears more important to Washington DC, than the financial security of Youngstown Ohio. We didn't create that impression, we are simply responding to the reality afore us.

Q Research General #21939: 81st anniversary of the attack on #PearlHarbor Edition
Jim Jordan Parrots Kevin McCarthy's Talking Points in Breitbart Speaker Interview
Freedom Caucus Vice Chair Jim Jordan is parroting the doomsday scenario that McCarthy and company are using to blackmail conservatives into supporting his campaign for speaker.
House Freedom Caucus Vice Chairman, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) parroted Kevin McCarthy's talking points during a recent interview with Breitbart, saying that he's "concerned" that RINOs and Democrats will join forces to install a speaker of their own if conservatives don't fall in line behind FTX-funded McCarthy.
"I'm very, I'm concerned about that. I don't think it's likely, but I am concerned about it," Rep. Jim Jordan told Breitbart's Matt Boyle in a Saturday interview, parroting Kevin McCarthy's talking points around the Speaker of the House race.
McCarthy, who's already dubbed himself "speaker-elect" despite not having the 218 votes he needs to take the gavel, plus his supporters, have spent the weeks following the "Pink Trickle" midterms of 2022, cooking up scenarios in which McCarthy gets to cling to his power, and be elected Speaker of the House on January 3rd.
This is despite massive opposition from conservatives, like Freedom Caucus Rep. Andy Biggs, who's officially announced a challenge to McCarthy's speakership campaign.
Oddly, considering Kevin McCarthy's name is synonymous with the GOP establishment for millions of conservative voters, Jim Jordan and Breitbart News acted like he's an outsider, during their Saturday interview, and in the headline that spun off it.
"Jim Jordan 'Concerned' By Threat Of Democrats, Moderate Republicans Electing Establishment Speaker," Breitbart's headline reads.
Oddly, the headline denotes that Kevin McCarthy isn't a member of the GOP establishment, despite his long run in GOP leadership, during which he's cozied up to Big Tech with the likes of deposed RINOs Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan.
This year, McCarthy used FTX mega-donor money to crush AmErica First conservatives in the 2022 midterms, before the multi-billion dollar crypto exchange was found to be a massive fraud, with suspected links to Ukrainian money laundering and political oligarchs the world over.
Not only did McCarthy's sabotage operation protect RINO incumbents, but it handed seats over to Democrats on a silver platter, in a naked effort to avoid too much conservative influence in the new Congress, which would stymy McCarthy's speakership bid, and his "Pelosi-lite" legislative agenda.

Daniel Fried (born 1952) is an AmErican diplomat, who served as assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs from 2005 to 2009 and United States ambassador to Poland from 1997 to 2000.[1][2] He also served as special envoy for Guantanamo closure and co-ordinator for United States embargoes.[3][4] Fried retired from the State Department in February 2017 after forty years of service.[5]
…
Foreign Service
After earning his graduate degree, Fried entered the Foreign Service. He was employed in the Economic Bureau of the State Department from 1977 to 1979; at the U.S. Consulate General in then-Leningrad from 1980 to 1981; as political officer in the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade from 1982 to 1985; and in the Office of Soviet Affairs at the State Department from 1985 to 1987. ambassador Fried was Polish desk officer at the State Department from 1987 to 1989 as democracy returned to Poland and Central Europe. He served as political counselor in the U.S. Embassy in Warsaw from 1990 to 1993. Between 1993 and 1997 he was on the staff of the National Security Council, ultimately serving as Special Assistant to President Bill Clinton. While working at the White House, Fried played a peripheral role in implementing U.S. policy on Euro-Atlantic security, including NATO enlargement and the Russia-NATO relationship.
He was Ambassador to Poland from November 1997 until May 2000. Between May 2000 and January 2001, Fried was principal deputy special adviser to the secretary of state for the New Independent States. From January 2001 to May 2005, Fried served in an advisory capacity to U.S. President George W. Bush as special assistant to president and also a member of the staff of the United States National Security Council.
From the time of his Senate confirmation in April 2005 [6] until early-2009, Fried served as the top U.S. diplomat responsible for Europe, with the official title assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs.[7] In that post, Fried helped build and maintain essential relationships with European nations and international organizations such as the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
Special envoy for Guantanamo closure
Fried served as special envoy for closure of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp starting on May 15, 2009.[8] As special envoy, Fried sat on an inter-agency committee chaired by Attorney General Eric Holder that was to review the remaining captives' cases.[citation needed] His particular mandate was to persuade European countries as well as Yemen to accept for resettlement some of the more than 200 detainees.[9] Fried's position was with the U.S. Department of State and he held a rank equivalent to that of an ambassador, but it has been dubbed "Guantanamo Bay Czar" and "Guantanamo Closure Czar" by the certain media outlets [9] and by public officials such as Republican House Minority Whip Eric Cantor of Virginia who oppose the closure of the detention camp.[10][11]
…
Fried, who has admitted that "for eight years, first in the Bush administration, then in the Obama administration, I helped draft the U.S. government's annual statements on that remembrance,"[18] opposed the recognition of the Armenian genocide during the U. S. Congressional hearings in March 2007. He stated that the Congressional resolution "would undercut those voices emerging in Turkey who call for a truthful exploration of those events in pursuit of Turkey's reconciliation with its own past, and with Armenia," and added, "Our fear is that passage of any such resolution would close minds and harden hearts."[19]
In mid-2008, reporter Helene Cooper of The New York Times wrote that an anonymous administration official described Fried as a foreign policy "hawk"[20] on the issue of whether the U.S. should give military aid to the nation of Georgia in its territorial dispute with Russia.

House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy Says Liz Cheney Leadership Ouster Likely Before the End of The Month - Perhaps Tucker Carlson Attacks on McCarthy Are Connected
f you are into the political weeds, specifically the Machiavellian aspects to the deepest political weeds, there's an interesting article in The Hill today with quotes from people very close to GOP House Leader Kevin McCarthy.
Essentially, the nub of it is that GOP Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney is about to get removed from her leadership position due to her continued antagonism of the MAGA supporters and President Trump.
After Cheney's latest round of attacks against Trump and his supporters McCarthy is no longer going to defend Cheney from a frustrated republican caucus ready to get rid of her.
Cheney is likely to be voted out of leadership by the end of the month, depending on the timing of the next GOP conference assembly.
WASHINGTON - Top allies of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) are vowing to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), one of the harshest critics of former President Trump in either party, from her leadership post by the end of the month.
They argue that the No. 3 Republican has repeatedly contradicted McCarthy and his team, undermining the party's message and its efforts to take back the House majority in next year's midterm elections.
"There is no way that Liz will be conference chair by month's end," one key McCarthy ally told The Hill on Monday. "When there is a vote, it won't be a long conference; it will be fast. Everyone knows the outcome." (read more)
The list of possible replacements for Liz Cheney includes Elise Stefanik (NY) and Jackie Walorski (Ind); both would be good replacements. Walorski was a wolverine against the Obama administration during the VA scandal, and Stefanik was a loyal MAGA ally during the impeachment effort. However, due to the depth of the swamp I would emphasize the need to keep a close eye on either.
All of that said.... Now I get into the Machiavellian angle of this DC swamp.
This is where the attack against Frank Luntz by Tucker Carlson starts to make sense.
I know Tucker Carlson is valued by many people in the MAGA community, but a DC leopard doesn't change his spots (and often relies on short memories). If you have followed the deep weeds for a long time THIS REFRESHER will remind you of the issues with Tucker Carlson. My hunch is the attack on Luntz was not really an attack on Luntz, but really was cover for a presumptive attack on McCarthy. That's how the Machiavellian DC swamp rolls.
I'm no fan of McCarthy, but his thirst for political wind-chasing is actually an asset when it comes to these creatures. With McCarthy you know what his priorities are... He is predictable. That is why he aligned with President Trump; and Donald Trump knows a person who wants advancement, even if that person is not trustworthy, can be an asset in DC because Trump holds the leverage -the raw political power- that is valuable to the GOP leader.
From the Machiavellian angle Carlson could likely have been positioning against McCarthy in order to assist Liz Cheney and that tribe of DeceptiCons. Tucker has a history here {Go Deep} that unfortunately people have forgotten. Maybe I'm wrong, but the most recent timing of the MAGA attack by Cheney and the McCarthy attack by Tucker are too coincidental to be dismissed.
Getting Liz Cheney out of a position of GOP influence prior to the 2022 primary races is a good thing in the same way that eliminating Eric Cantor was a good thing in 2014. However, we must be cautious as the DeceptiCon wing starts to make their moves now in an effort to have influence over those 2022 house races.
Keep your eyes wide open and trust no-one.

New Huff Post from Creamer
Rumor That Congressman Paul Ryan is Really a Democratic Sleeper Agent
Rumors spread over the weekend that Republican Budget Chair Paul Ryan is really a Democratic sleeper agent. The story goes that Ryan was recruited by Democratic operatives as a young man and agreed to assume a cover as a deeply conservative Republican. He was hired as a Legislative aide for Conservative Senator Sam Brownback and subsequently wrote speeches for former Housing Secretary Jack Kemp.
Then, in 1998, he won a seat in Congress as a Conservative Republican and began to establish credibility as a Far Right economic conservative.
If the rumor is correct, all of this toiling in the Conservative vineyard was undertaken to develop the credibility he needed to herd his fellow Republicans into a political box canyon where they could be ambushed by waiting Democrats.
Last week this deep undercover operation finally succeeded, when Ryan actually convinced virtually every Republican to vote to end Medicare.
All right, there isn't really a rumor that Ryan is a Democratic sleeper agent. But the result is likely to be the same.
Last Friday, Congressman Paul Ryan and his self-described "Young Gun" colleague, Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor, got most of their colleagues to willingly jump off a political cliff.

There were at least two advisory boards purged, Defense Business Board (They were fired by group email, too! I love it.) and Defense Policy Board. It's not the chart you requested but here are the names:
"Members of the board received a brief email from Joshua Whitehouse, the White House liaison to the Department of Defense, that simply said, "if you are receiving this e-mail, your membership on the Defense Business Board has expired or is coming to an end."
"A number of board members have been terminated with a form letter. In my experience, I was very surprised that the White House would, at the eleventh hour, adjust an advisory board that for 19 years has had a record of nonpartisan support with the department," Michael Bayer, who until today was board chair, told POLITICO.
Besides Bayer, the other board members who were let go are Arnold Punaro, Atul Vashistha, John O'Connor, David Venlet, Paul Dolan, Scott Dorn, David Walker and David Van Slyke."
And:
The Defense Department on Friday said that a number of members of its Defense Policy Board including former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Madeleine Albright had been removed. (From Fox).
Former Democratic officials who were removed include former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former Justice Department official Jamie Gorelick, former Rep. Jane Harmon of California, and former Deputy Defense Secretary Rudy DeLeon, now part of the liberal Center for AmErican Progress.
Republicans taken off the board included former arms control and Pentagon policy official J.D. Crouch, former Undersecretary of State Robert Joseph, and former House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia. Retired Adm. Gary Roughead, a former chief of naval operations, also left the board. (Washington Times)

Pentagon Purges Leading Advisors From Defense Policy Board - Jaweb
By
Elmoudjaweb -
November 25, 2020
Several members of the top federal advisory committee to the U.S. Department of Defense have been suddenly pushed out, multiple U.S. officials told Foreign Policy, in what appears to be the outgoing Trump administration's parting shot at scions of the foreign-policy establishment.
The directive, which the Pentagon's White House liaison Joshua Whitehouse sent on Wednesday afternoon, removes 11 high-profile advisors from the Defense Policy Board, including former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Madeleine Albright; retired Adm. Gary Roughead, who served as chief of naval operations; and a onetime ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, Jane Harman. Rudy De Leon, a former chief operating officer at the Pentagon once considered by then-Defense Secretary James Mattis for a high-level policy role, will also be ousted.
Also booted in today's sweep of the board, which is effective immediately, were former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and David McCormick, a former Treasury Department undersecretary during the George W. Bush administration. Both had been added to the board by former Mattis in 2017. Jamie Gorelick, a Clinton administration deputy attorney general; Robert Joseph, a chief U.S. nuclear negotiator who convinced Libya to give up weapons of mass destruction; former Bush Deputy National Security Advisor J.D. Crouch II; and Franklin Miller, a former top defense official, have also been removed.
This story is based on interviews with three current and former officials. The Defense Department did not immediately respond to request for comment.
The board, overseen by the Pentagon's top policy official, the undersecretary of defense for policy, serves as a kind of in-house think tank on retainer for top military leaders, providing independent counsel and advice on defense policy. The Defense Policy Board includes former top military brass, secretaries of state, members of Congress, and other senior diplomats and foreign-policy experts. The status of two other members of the panel-or who would replace the ousted members-was not immediately clear.
Officials said that the Trump administration had long tried to remake the board with figures seen as loyal to the president-and outside of the Washington establishment-but had received pushback from recently ousted Defense Secretary Mark Esper and acting Undersecretary of Defense for Policy James Anderson, who sought to keep the board in place to allow for policy continuity. Both Esper and Anderson were removed earlier this month in a purge of Pentagon officials.
The White House had sought to add Scott O'Grady, a former Air Force fighter pilot shot down over Bosnia, to the board to prepare him to be nominated for a top Pentagon position, as well as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a close ally of President Donald Trump. The administration had also vetoed adding retired Adm. Eric Olson, a former U.S. Special Operations Command chief, and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, as well as Gordon England, a former deputy secretary of defense during the Bush administration, over perceived anti-Trump ties.
"If they get treated like that, then who is going to want to volunteer?" a former senior Trump administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Foreign Policy.
While the board has no tangible role inside the Pentagon in the policymaking process, it routinely advises senior military leadership on some of the top strategic national security threats facing the United States. The board convened in October for classified discussions on formulating a long-term strategy toward China and deterrence in space, according to a notice from the Federal Register. The meeting included briefings from the CIA, the Pentagon's Office of Net Assessment, and other senior Pentagon policy officials.
The composition of the board has faced scrutiny from some Republican foreign-policy analysts, who say the current members do not accurately reflect the views of the administration, including its hard-line views toward China, as the Washington Times reported in October. Given the criticism, it is unclear why the White House waited until the final months of Trump's tenure in the Oval Office to make changes to the Defense Policy Board.
Some members of the board, including Roughead, Albright, and Harman, were added to the board during the Obama administration in 2011.
The move follows a recent decision by Whitehouse, the liaison officer, to begin political-style vetting of nonpolitical experts and employees on loan from think tanks, an effort that had only extended to political appointees in the past.

>>Several high profile members of the Defense Policy Board were removed on Wednesday by the Trump administration, in yet another purge of longstanding foreign policy experts and national security establishment figures in the final days of the Trump era, according to three defense officials.
>>Members who were suddenly removed include former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Henry Kissinger, former ranking member of the House Intelligence committee Jane Harman and former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, two of the officials said.
>>The Defense Policy Board is an outside advisory group of former high profile national security officials who "provide the Secretary of Defense and the Deputy Secretary of Defense, independent, informed advice and opinions concerning matters of defense policy in response to specific tasks from the Secretary of Defense, the Deputy Secretary of Defense," according to their website.
>>"As part of long-considered changes, we can confirm that several members of the Department's Defense Policy Board have been removed. We are extremely grateful for their dedicated service, commitment, and contributions to our national security. Future announcements for new members of the board will be made soon," the third official said.
>>"As we adapt the Department for great power competition, I look forward to naming new board members in the coming days," Miller said.

Pentagon Purges Leading Advisors From Defense Policy Board
It's unclear why the Trump administration waited until its final months to shake up the influential group of outside experts advising top Pentagon leaders.
everal members of the top federal advisory committee to the U.S.
Both had been added to the board by Mattis in 2017.
In a statement late Wednesday, the Department of Defense confirmed the decision. "As part of long-considered changes, we can confirm that several members of the Department's Defense Policy Board have been removed," a defense official said. "We are extremely grateful for their dedicated service, commitment, and contributions to our national security. Future announcements for new members of the board will be made soon."

Anons, I have been deep diving Luntz and this is actually quite interesting. So in 2012 he had four major GOP clients:
Paul Ryan - VP pick/Romney lost election in 2012
Eric Cantor - Lost election by over 30 points to Dave Brat in 2014
Tom Price - Lost election in 2017, numerous scandals reported by media from 2012 onward
Jeff Denham - Lost election in 2019
On top of that, directly after Luntz was hired by the GOP in 2009 he organized a dinner with Newt Gingrich and journalist Fred Barnes also attended the dinner. Representatives Cantor, McCarthy, Ryan, Session, Hensarling, Hoekstra, and Lungren were there. Senators DeMint, Kyl, Coburn, Ensign, and Corker were present and them discussing ways to stall the Obama health care plan and then, guess what…. someone dropped what the GOP was discussing to the media:
https://www.tikkun.org/tikkundaily/2012/10/11/frank-luntz-paul-ryan-and-the-gop-inauguration-night-conspiracy/
Knowing what we know now I think it is very safe to say this guy has been actively sabotaging the GOP.

And that's just the democrats! I'm sure the republicans are just as bad if not worse, but it seems harder to find information on. Here's another list: amErican3rdposition.com/?p=12767
Here's an explanation of how this used to not be allowed, then the law was changed, and also points out many big-name dual citizenship holders in the Bush and Clinton administrations: www.viewzone.com/dualcitizen.html
Why is this allowed? It is not allowed for regular US citizens to have dual citizenship, is it?
I think this type of thing is allowed because "Israel first" Zionists essentially own our government, which is because the Rothschilds own the central banking system and have money creation powers and they promote Zionism. So you play by their rules, or you don't get big money access. This is why most industry monopolies are headed by Zionists. It's not a random chance thing that the tops of most all industries are super gung-ho about Israel. This is also why they get the most aid, and why they have the biggest lobbying groups.
And to be clear, I'm not talking about Jews, half of whom reject zionism. I'm talking about the ideological belief system, that says the Israeli government deserves to own Mt. Zion, aka that Palestine needs to be removed and regional security for Israel needs to be ensured in the middle east. Obama is a Zionist, Biden is a Zionist. Bush is a Zionist. So is Hillary, and Trump, as their AIPAC speeches showed quite clearly.
These big bankers need to stop being able to pull everyone's strings, but that won't stop until people realize their money creation abilities are based on legal narratives that come from false hopes and the false appearance of authority. The government should be able to create its own money, not borrow from a private bank in a debt-based money creation system where there will always, mathematically, be more debt owed than money exists, which gives them power over the government because they are the debt collectors.
The whole thing is an absurd farce to anyone who sees the truth of it.
"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

Rep. Stephen Lynch, the head of the oversight panel's national security subcommittee, expressed concern that the activities of the board may have been inappropriate and that its members were more likely to be wealthy, influential individuals.
"To date, the CIA has refused to identify the individuals selected by Mr. Pompeo to serve on the External Advisory Board during his tenure, as well as the role of his wife, Susan Pompeo, a private citizen, in organizing these events," the Massachusetts Democrat wrote in the letter. "It is imperative that the CIA remains independent of undue influence from partisan political interests."
The concern is that Pompeo, a former Republican congressman from Kansas who served as CIA director from January 2017 to April 2018, may have been using the board to curry favor with influential businessmen and politicians.
Former CIA officials told Politico that the board was treated to "lavish" dinners and classified briefings. Officials also divulged names of members of the board, which included billionaire entrepreneur Marc Andreessen, a top executive at global advertising agency McCann Worldgroup, a billionaire representative for the Hyatt hotel chain, former Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who is now vice chairman of investment bank Moelis & Company, and William Barr, who at the time served on the board of directors of Time Warner and is now the attorney general.
The CIA declined to comment to the Washington Examiner on the letter but did touch on the advisory board.
"CIA's External Advisory Board is always a cross-section of industry experts and former senior government leaders who provide counsel on a wide variety of issues," CIA spokesman Timothy Barrett said. "In addition to the countless hours members regularly volunteer to share their expertise, the formal meetings provide a forum for in-depth conversations and lively debate on solutions. To suggest those meetings are some lavish vacation would be a misrepresentation."
A State Department spokeswoman, Morgan Ortagus, said in a statement that "while Secretary Pompeo was Director of the CIA, he followed all agency protocols related to the External Advisory Board. Far from being lavish events, meetings were grueling and focused on critical challenges for the Agency and held in the director's conference room. Meeting agendas and logistics were solely prepared by Agency leadership. Director Hayden established the board and it was a practice of CIA Directors from both political parties to continue the board. For Congressman Lynch to insinuate wrongdoing five months before an election is purely partisan politics on full display."

CIA Director _early 2017 - April 2018?
Barr
External Advisory Board (CIA) members during this time?
–Bertrand reports that according to Politico's sources, Pompeo's board ranged from billionaire Marc Andreessen -an executive at the advertising agency McCann Worldgroup - to former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. The board also included William Barr, who served as U.S. attorney general under the late President George H.W. Bush in the early 1990s and now holds that position under President Donald Trump. Like Pompeo, Barr has turned out to be a staunch Trump loyalist - and Trump has asserted that he is much happier with Barr than he was with former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who he fired in November 2018. Similarly, Trump has praised Pompeo while slamming former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson as someone he never should have hired in the first place.
A source described by Bertrand as a former CIA official told Politico that the board of advisers "were designed vanity experiences for the attendees, clearly designed to expand Pompeo's network at government expense and under the rubric of a formal body. They were not substantive and were solely designed to advance Pompeo's potential funding and political network." https://www.nationalmemo.com/pompeo-formed-cia-advisory-board-to-build-his-political-network–
Was Bill Barr a member of the board?
Not sure but probably if he created it.
What advantages might exist to incoming AG Barr re: member of external advisory board (CIA)?
Privy to intel?
What advantages might exist to Sec of State re: former Dir of CIA?
Director would probably have access to whatever a previous director did and was up to.
It must be right.
It must be according to the law.
It must be proven.
It's what you don't see.
Durham is not the only game in town.

The events planned for Pompeo's external advisory board, billed as "senior leadership conferences," didn't run afoul of any laws - previous CIA director advisory board members, provided with interim clearances, were also given classified briefings, and directors can visit the Farm, as the CIA's training site is known, at their discretion.

Former Austrian chancellor appears to have lobbied as part of Manafort scheme

New filings made public by special counsel Robert Mueller on Friday shed fresh light on the Washington lobbying campaign orchestrated by Paul Manafort on behalf of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and his allies.
Manafort "secretly retained" several former senior European politicians to covertly promote Ukrainian interests in Washington. "Although the former politicians would appear to be providing their independent assessments of Government of Ukraine actions, in fact they were paid lobbyists for Ukraine," according to a superseding indictment of Manafort filed by Mueller's team.
The coterie of Europeans was known as the Hapsburg Group, Andrew Weissman, one of Mueller's prosecutors, said at a hearing on Friday. The group was led by a "former European chancellor" and was paid more than 2 million euros in 2012 and 2013, according to the court filings.
The former chancellor isn't named in the court filings, but appears to be Alfred Gusenbauer, who served as chancellor of Austria between 2007 and 2008. Gusenbauer and two lobbyists involved in Manafort's lobbying campaign met with members of Congress and staffers in 2013, according to Justice Department disclosures retroactively filed last year by the lobbying firm Mercury.

Manafort called the Hapsburg Group's lobbying effort "SUPER VIP" in an "EYES ONLY" memo cited in the new indictment. It would involve "a small group of high-level European highly influencial [sic] champions and politically credible friends who can act informally and without any visible relationship with the Government of Ukraine," he said.
The retroactively filed disclosures show that Gusenbauer met with House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce, Reps. Tom Marino (R-Pa.) and Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.), House Foreign Affairs Committee staffers and others in Washington one week in 2013. He was accompanied by two Mercury lobbyists, Ed Kutler (who has since left the firm) and Mike McSherry. Kutler also accompanied Romano Prodi, a former Italian prime minister, to meetings with Royce and a staffer for House Majority Whip Eric Cantor months beforehand.
Gusenbauer and Prodi said their work was focused on bringing Ukraine and the European Union closer together and denied being paid by Yanukovych or Manafort.
"I was never involved in any activities for Mr. Yanukovych or the Party of Regions," Gusenbauer said in a statement to Austrian media on Saturday, referring to the former Ukrainian president's political party. "I pushed for the EU to seal an association agreement with the Ukraine at public events in Paris, Brussels and Berlin." (Such an agreement is often a first step toward applying for EU membership.)
Gusenbauer said he was paid for his efforts, but declined to say how much. He denied that was employed by Yanukovych or Manafort. He confirmed that he knew Manafort, however, having met him once in Washington and once in Europe. Those meetings were "only for coffee," Gusenbauer told the Austrian newspaper Presse am Sonntag.
Prodi told The New York Times on Saturday that he'd been paid by Gusenbauer as part of the "normal private relations I had with him" and they the money had not, to his knowledge, come from Manafort. He said he'd never heard of the Hapsburg Group.
"It was Gusenbauer heading the group; we did all our efforts to have peace in Ukraine," Prodi said. The group, which consisted of "experts and former politicians," broke up when it became clear that "a stronger relationship with the European Union was impossible," he added.

But a file photo from Pelosi's 2010 meeting with Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev shows Kislyak at the table across from Pelosi - then House speaker - and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.). Medvedev had been in the country for a meeting with President Barack Obama a day earlier and stopped in on Capitol Hill to meet with congressional leaders as well.
Asked to square Pelosi's comments with the photo of the meeting, a spokesman said Pelosi simply meant she never had a solo meeting with Kislyak.
"Of course, that's what she meant," said the spokesman, Drew Hammill. "She has never had a private one-on-one with him."
After Trump needled Pelosi on Twitter about the matter, Pelosi hit back with her own tweet and another statement from her spokesman.
"Leader Pelosi's answer to the question today was clearly about private, one-on-one meetings, which she has never had with Ambassador Kislyak," Hammill said. "The Ambassador was incidental to the 2010 meeting between then-Russian President Medvedev and then-Speaker Pelosi. Clearly, one needs to remind Politico that Attorney General Sessions lied under oath about a secret meeting amidst Russia's hacking of our election, which he also didn't disclose in a written questionnaire."
Also visible in the picture is Texas Republican Rep. Mac Thornberry. And a Democratic source noted that alongside Pelosi - but obscured in the picture - is former House GOP leader Eric Cantor.

Pelosi warns GOP: Next president could declare national emergency on guns
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday issued a warning to Republicans poised to support President Trump's decision to declare a national emergency at the southern border: the next Democratic president, she said, could do the same on guns.
"A Democratic president can declare emergencies, as well," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. "So the precedent that the president is setting here is something that should be met with great unease and dismay by the Republicans."
Pelosi noted that Thursday marked the one-year anniversary of the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla., that left 17 students and faculty dead. She argued that the real national emergency is not illegal border crossings, but gun violence in the U.S.
"Let's talk about today: The one-year anniversary of another manifestation of the epidemic of gun violence in AmErica," Pelosi said. "That's a national emergency. Why don't you declare that emergency, Mr. President? I wish you would.
"But a Democratic president can do that."
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) also shared a tweet calling several issues championed by Democrats, such as climate change and income inequality, a "national emergency."
Moments before Pelosi spoke, the White House had announced that Trump would sign an enormous spending deal to prevent another partial government shutdown slated to begin on Saturday.
The measure includes billions of dollars in border security measures - including $1.375 billion to construct 55 miles of new barrier at the U.S.-Mexico border - but the White House said Trump will separately declare a national emergency at the border in order to liberate additional funds from other programs to build his promised wall.
Trump had demanded $5.7 billion to fund a wall along the border during the previous 35-day shutdown over December and January, which became the longest shutdown in U.S. history.
The notion of declaring such an emergency to promote spending not approved by Congress has been panned by a number of Republican lawmakers in recent weeks. Yet Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who's scrambling to prevent a second shutdown, said Thursday he'd support it.
What happens next is unclear. Pelosi declined to say if Democrats would launch a legal challenge against the coming national emergency, though one has been expected after Trump spent weeks floating such a declaration.
"We will review our options, and I'm not prepared to give any preference to any one of them right now," she said Thursday.
But House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) suggested Wednesday that Democrats would, indeed, challenge the move in court.
"We think the president would be on very weak legal ground to proceed on this, and I'm sure that if he chose to do that, that we would test it in the courts," Hoyer said. "And you've heard a lot of Republicans express a similar sentiment."
Pelosi emphasized that she's not promoting the idea that a president of any party should use emergency declarations to advance pet projects without Congress's consent, even if it was a Democratic president pursuing tougher gun laws - an issue she strongly supports.
"I'm not advocating for any president doing an end-run around Congress," she said. "I'm just saying that the Republicans should have some dismay about the door that they are opening, the threshold they are crossing."
Doug Heye, a Republican strategist and former aide to former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), sounded a similar warning on Thursday, moments after the White House announcement.
"Make no mistake: the next Democratic President will declare national emergencies on guns and climate change and cite the Trump precedent when doing so," Heye tweeted.
The Senate on Thursday passed the spending package by a vote of 83-16, sending it to the House. The lower chamber is scheduled to vote on the legislation Thursday night.

Q Research General #6132: RBG on Ice Editon
From 2009, been at it a long time. Pay to Play
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi moves in a rarefied world of high society and high-level politics - and nothing underscores that fact quite like her plans for the August recess.
Pelosi will spend next weekend quietly tending to top party donors and political allies at a series of private events in Northern California.
The two-day "issues conference" starts next Friday night with a dinner for roughly 170 guests on the back lawn of Pelosi's multimillion-dollar home in the fashionable Pacific Heights neighborhood in San Francisco.
The following day, Pelosi will shepherd her guests to a Napa Valley winery with buildings designed by world-famous architect Frank Gehry; the speaker and her husband, investor Paul Pelosi, own a nearby vineyard worth between $5 million and $25 million, according to her annual financial disclosure report.
There's nothing unusual about leaders using recess to fund- and friend-raise. Before leaving town last week, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor raked in $1.1 million for fellow Republicans at a lobbyist-heavy fundraiser on Capitol Hill.
And Pelosi's staff notes that her California session will involve more than just schmoozing with the wealthy and well-connected. The speaker will lead policy discussions on health care, energy reform and the economy, among other topics. Scheduled to speak are Obama adviser David Axelrod, CNN commentator and former Clinton adviser James Carville and Mark Zandi, an economic adviser to Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign who has been providing advice to the Obama White House.
More than a dozen other House Democrats will be in attendance, too, including Massachusetts Rep. Ed Markey, a key player on the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee; Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller of California, Pelosi's closest ally in the House; Xavier Becerra of California, vice chairman of the Democratic Caucus; and Joseph Crowley of New York and Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, two up-and-coming Democrats who have previously found themselves in Pelosi's doghouse but are moving to get back into her good graces.
The weekend event is technically not a fundraiser. In the parlance of fundraising pros, it's known as "donor maintenance," a "thank you" from Pelosi to those who have given generously to her and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. To be invited, one must have raised money for the DCCC, been a longtime friend of Pelosi's or contributed $30,4000 to the DCCC this cycle. The maximum an individual may give to a national party committee in any one year.
A donation to the DCCC of that size qualifies a donor to be part of the "Speaker's Cabinet," a fundraising program that gives supporters expanded access to Pelosi. In addition to the annual Napa weekend, Pelosi also will personally provide at least one more private briefing for these maxed-out donors.
According to campaign reports filed by the DCCC, at least 170 individuals, as well as a handful of Native AmErican tribes, reached that maximum donation threshold as of June 30. San Francisco and Bay Area bigwigs are prominent among the collection of big DCCC supporters, including Ann Getty Earhart, an heiress to the Getty oil fortune; Elizabeth Fisher, whose in-laws founded The Gap, the retail clothing giant; and Eugene Eidenberg, a former Carter White House staffer who is now a San Francisco venture capitalist. Paul Pelosi owns up to $50,000 in stock in the investment firm that Eidenberg helped co-found, Granite Ventures, according to Pelosi's annual disclosure report.

In mid-2007, Adelson attended a conference in Prague titled "Democracy and Security" that was cosponsored by the Adelson Institute for Strategic Studies, the Czech Foreign Ministry, the Prague Security Studies Institute, and Spain's Foundation for Social Studies and Analysis (FAES), headed by former conservative Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar. Conference participants included Natan Sharanksy, the late former Czech President Vaclav Havel, and Sen. Joseph Lieberman, the "independent Democrat" from Connecticut who is closely associated with the neoconservative faction in the United States. Also in attendance were a number of leading U.S. hawks, including the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies' (FDD) president Clifford May; the AmErican Enterprise Institute's Richard Perle,Michael Rubin,Michael Novak,Joshua Muravchik, and Reuel Marc Gerecht; Herb London, John O'Sullivan, and Anne Bayefsky of the Hudson Institute; Bruce Jackson, a former director of the Project for the New AmErican Century; and Tod Lindberg of the Hoover Institution.[38]
Journalist Jim Lobe reported, "Sharansky, chairman of both the Adelson Institute and of One Jerusalem, a group created to oppose any move under the Oslo peace process to recognize Palestinian sovereignty over any part of Jerusalem, is a former Soviet refusenik whose 2004 book, The Case for Democracy, helped inspire Bush's ringing 2005 Inaugural Address ... Aznar and Havel are co-chairs of the 'international' section of the Committee on the Present Danger(CPD), which was launched by FDD in June 2004 and whose website is www.fightingterror.org. Sen. Joe Lieberman, an honorary co-chairman of CPD, keynoted the opening session. In other words, the conference constituted a kind of 'Neo-Conservative International' designed to rally support for 'dissidents,' primarily from the Islamic world, and give them hope that 'regime change' in their countries is possible much as it was in the former Soviet bloc almost 20 years ago."[39]
In 2009, the Zionist Organization of AmErica(ZOA) awarded Adelson the "Theodor Herzl Gold Medallion," which is given to people who make a "unique, lasting, and historic contribution to the cause of Zionism and the Jewish people."[40] Speakers at the event included Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (by video), Vice Prime Minister and former Israel Defense Forces Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. Moshe Yaalon, and Rep. Eric Cantor(R-VA).

Campaign Spending
Adelson has been a major donor to Republican political campaigns, having spent hundreds of millions of dollars in recent elections.[21] His campaign spending began to receive concerted public attention during the 2012 U.S. elections because of his massive donations to groups backing the campaigns of Newt Gingrich and later Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan, as well as for his lavish donations to the Karl Rove-backed Crossroads GPS and PACs linked to the billionaires Charles and David Koch and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor(R-Va.).[22] All told, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, Adelson and his spouse spent nearly $100 million trying to influence the election that year.[23]
In advance of the 2016 presidential election cycle, reports emerged that Adelson and his spouse were looking to invest in a more "electable" GOP presidential nominee. "This time, the Adelsons are plotting their investments based not on personal loyalty but on a much more strategic aim: to help select a Republican nominee they believe will have broad appeal to an increasingly diverse national electorate," reported the Washington Post in March 2014. "This strategy would favor more-established 2016 hopefuls such as former Florida governor Jeb Bush, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich." The Post noted that Adelson enjoyed a particularly warm relationship with Mike Huckabee, who Adelson once introduced at a Zionist Organization of AmErica awards ceremony as "a great person, a great AmErican, and a great Zionist."[24]
In November 2014, Adelson attended a meeting of prominent right-wing Jewish AmErican donors in New York City hosted by the Zionist Organization of AmErica. The event-which was apparently intended to build support for Sen. Ted Cruz(R-TX), who was the guest of honor-also featured a number of "pro-Israel" Christian Zionists like Christians United for Israel chairman John Hagee and Rep. Michelle Bachman(R-MN), as well as major backers of neoconservative groups like Home Depot co-founder Bernard Marcus.[25]

ZOA leader Morton Klein used the event to denounce the Likud-led government's partial 2010 moratorium on Jewish settlement construction in the West Bank, calling the policy "racist." During his talk after receiving the Herzl award, Adelson commented that "Each time [Klein] opened up his mouth, I thought it was me talking." According to Forward, "A spokesman for Adelson stated later that his support for Netanyahu 'has not changed.' But Klein disclosed that Adelson will travel to Israel soon to lobby Netanyahu against the settlement moratorium."[41]
Adelson's support for Benjamin Netanyahu has also been at the center of a dispute over the future of Israel's print media. In 2007, Adelson founded Yisrael Hayom (or Israel Today), a free Hebrew-language newspaper that, at its peak in 2015, had a print circulation of some 550,000 daily.[42] According to Forward, on its very first day in circulation, Yisrael Hayom was "already one of the largest-circulation papers in the country. Adelson's new paper is drawing questions from other journalists, who worry about the mogul's connections to Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu, and also from the owners of other Israeli newspapers, who are a famously tight-knit club."[43]
Since its beginnings, Yisrael Hayom was seen as a mouthpiece outlet for Netanyahu's views and policies.[44]With Adelson willing to absorb a loss to promote these views among the Israeli public, other Israeli newspapers saw their own circulation decline sharply. Netanyahu allegedly offered to intervene on behalf of the newspaper with the second-highest circulation, Yediot Ahoronot, in exchange for favorable coverage. Adelson was asked to give testimony to the police investigating the affair.[45] In February 2018, Israeli police recommended that Netanyahu be indicted for bribery.[46] As the case grew grimmer for Netanyahu, Adelson shut him out. [47] In May, when Adelson attended the ceremony for the opening of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem, Netanyahu's political troubles were buried under the weight of the event, and there was no evidence of strain between the two right-wing figures.[48]

The meeting was noteworthy in part for comments Adelson reportedly made after a private two-hour meeting he had with Cruz. According to the New York Observer, Adelson said that Cruz was "too right wing" and "a longshot to win the nomination." According to the Observer, Adelson called the newspaper after publication of the story "to dispute that characterization of his reaction to Mr. Cruz. Mr. Adelson made clear to the Observer that he was the only person in the room with Mr. Cruz and thus the only one in a position to know how he felt about the Senator."[26]

How Congress Quietly Overhauled Its Insider-Trading Law

TRANSCRIPT
April 16, 20135:12 PM ET
The legislative process on Capitol Hill is often slow and grinding. There are committee hearings, filibuster threats and hours of floor debate. But sometimes, when Congress really wants to get something done, it can move blindingly fast.
That's what happened when Congress moved to undo large parts of a popular law known as the STOCK Act last week.
A year ago, President Obama signed the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act into law at a celebratory ceremony attended by a bipartisan cast of lawmakers.
"I want to thank all the members of Congress who came together and worked to get this done," he said.
The law wouldn't just outlaw trading on nonpublic information by members of Congress, the executive branch and their staffs. It would greatly expand financial disclosures and make all of the data searchable so insider trading and conflicts of interest would be easier to detect.
But on Monday, when the president signed a bill reversing big pieces of the law, the emailed announcement was one sentence long. There was no fanfare last week either, when the Senate and then the House passed the bill in largely empty chambers using a fast-track procedure known as unanimous consent.
In the House, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., shepherded the bill through. It was Friday afternoon at 12:52. Many members had already left for the weekend or were on their way out. The whole process took only 30 seconds. There was no debate.
"There weren't too many members of Congress who were aware of this legislation," says Craig Holman, the government affairs lobbyist for Public Citizen. "And I suspect very, very few understood what a sweeping radical change it is to the STOCK Act."
Records In The Basement
To understand how the law changed, I asked Holman to meet me in the basement of the Cannon House Office Building.

HOLY FUCK – CHARLES KUSHNER IS A FOLLOWER OF THIS GUY.
>The leading Kabbalist in the world is going to jail.
Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto is a celebrity in Israel and among financial and real estate elites in New York. A sage whose followers include the leaders of Israel's business elite, Pinto is the descendant of Moroccan Jewish saints, a Sephardic hero, and a master of Kabbalah, the ancient tradition of Jewish mysticism and magic. His net worth has been estimated at $19 million, not including the vast sums under the control of his various nonprofit organizations.
He is also a felon, convicted of bribing an Israeli police general. This week, after exhausting what is probably his last appeal-a last-ditch effort to avoid jail for health reasons-it appears he is finally headed for prison.
Adding insult to injury, a $30 million defamation suit the rabbi's organization filed against a reporter was dismissed by a New York court this week for lack of jurisdiction.
How does a Kabbalist, who by all accounts is indeed a devout man who practices what he preaches, become a multimillionaire?
It's the network. In New York, Pinto's close followers include leading Jewish real estate magnates like Ofer Yardeni and Charlie Kushner, politicians like Anthony Weiner and Eric Cantor, Jewish leaders including celebrity rabbi Marc Schneier and Malcolm Hoenlein (the head of the Conference of Presidents of AmErican Jewish Organizations), and even LeBron James.

Facebook forms PAC for political donations
>>966673
Facebook's PAC "will give our employees a way to make their voice heard in the political process by supporting candidates who share our goals of promoting the value of innovation to our economy while giving people the power to share and make the world more open and connected," spokesman Andrew Noyes said in a e-mailed statement.
With 800 million users around the world, Facebook's PAC widens its footprint in Washington, where it has expanded its office and hired big names from the White House and Capitol Hill. On Monday, Republican lawmakers including House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) held an event at Facebook to discuss technology and jobs.

House Passes HR 4133 Binding the US to Israel and Their War Agenda
https ://www.occupycorporatism.com/2012/05/25/house-passes-hr-4133-binding-the-us-to-israel-and-their-war-agenda/
Without any mainstream media coverage at all, the House of Representatives passed the United States - Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act of 2012 (USIESC).
The USIESC, written by Eric Cantor, claims there is a need to provide Israel with unlimited military and financial aid as a result of the disturbances caused by the Arab Spring.
Israel will have an essentially unlimited amount of funds allocated to them through the Federal Reserve Bank. The country will also enjoy an "expanded role of NATO" that consists of an "enhanced presence at NATO headquarters and exercises".
The USIESC pledges the US government's "commitment" to assist Israel in remaining a Jewish State; as well as protection from the UN if the UN Security Council resolves to hold Israel accountable to international laws.
The US government's counter-terrorism unit will also aid Israel by any means.
This USIESC asserts that "supported by the AmErican people" the US government will "repeatedly affirm the special bond between the United States and Israel" and that the two countries have "shared values and shared interests."
If there were ever language to suppose that there were a merging of these two nations, the USIESC fits that bill.
The Executive Summary of USIESC says that "the following actions to assist in the defense of Israel" are:
(1) Provide Israel such support as may be necessary to increase development and production of joint missile defense systems, particularly such systems that defend the urgent threat posed to Israel and United States forces in the region.
(2) Provide Israel assistance specifically for the production and procurement of the Iron Dome defense system for purposes of intercepting short-range missiles, rockets, and projectiles launched against Israel.
(3) Provide Israel defense articles and defense services through such mechanisms as appropriate, to include air refueling tankers, missile defense capabilities, and specialized munitions.
(4) Allocate additional weaponry and munitions for the forward-deployed United States stockpile in Israel.
(5) Provide Israel additional surplus defense articles and defense services, as appropriate, in the wake of the withdrawal of United States forces from Iraq.
(6) Strengthen efforts to prevent weapons smuggling into Gaza pursuant to the 2005 Agreement on Movement and Access following the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and to protect against weapons smuggling and terrorist threats from the Sinai Peninsula.
(7) Offer the Israeli Air Force additional training and exercise opportunities in the United States to compensate for Israel's limited air space.
(8) Expand Israel's authority to make purchases under the Foreign Military Financing program on a commercial basis.
(9) Seek to enhance the capabilities of the United States and Israel to address emerging common threats, increase security cooperation, and expand joint military exercises.
(10) Encourage an expanded role for Israel within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), including an enhanced presence at NATO headquarters and exercises.
(11) Support extension of the long-standing loan guarantee program for Israel, recognizing Israel's unbroken record of repaying its loans on time and in full.
(12) Expand already-close intelligence cooperation, including satellite intelligence, with Israel.

his climb to the top of House Republican leadership hit a snag. In 2011, the National Journal reported that if Blunt won the vote of his colleagues to serve as vice chairman of Senate Republican Conference, it would be a redemption-of-sorts from his days in the House. From the article in National Journal:
Blunt's stock fell in the House as his mentor, disgraced former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, was driven from office amid scandal. Blunt remained whip and took on DeLay's position, temporarily, in 2005 but lost the spot (in an embarrassing display of vote miscounting) to now-House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio. Blunt faced further indignation after the 2008 elections when now-Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia said he would challenge Blunt for his whip position. Blunt stepped aside rather than take on Cantor, who was then his deputy.

HIGH-RANKING MEMBERS OF DEFENSE POLICY BOARD FIRED
KISSINGER FIRED
MADELEINE ALBRIGHT FIRED
