"By the way, I had dinner with some of the senior folks at Statoil this week, and they mentioned
you'd be seeing them today. Just as an FYI, what I found most interesting about the conversation
was how seriously they were thinking about the role of an oil and gas company in a low-carbon
transition and about the impact of a leading O&G firm coming out more publicly to talk about
climate risks to their business and future profitability/success. I thought it might be an interesting
topic to explore further with them, particularly given the progressive stance some of the European
companies have taken on this issue, in a way that could be helpful to the broader debate. All is
going very well for me, David and the rest of the team at the Center on Global Energy Policy, which
is enjoying great growth and success. Hard to imagine a more interesting time to be studying the
policy impacts and interactions of climate, energy, geopolitics, and technology."
