Alleged paedophile facing 1623 child abuse offences assaulted with boiling water in Brisbane jail by inmate
An inmate at a Brisbane jail has attacked two fellow prisoners including one of Australia's worst alleged paedophiles which resulted in a trip to the hospital.
An alleged paedophile who was charged with 1623 child abuse offences in August was rushed to hospital on Friday after he was reportedly assaulted by an inmate in jail.
Ashley Paul Griffith had boiling water poured over him in unit S3 at Wolston Correctional Centre according to reports from The Courier Mail.
The 45-year-old was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with facial burns after the incident occurred shortly after midday.
There has also been reports jam was possibly added to the boiling water so it would stick on Griffith.
The inmate behind the attack also assaulted a second prisoner - Brett Peter Cowan, the man found guilty in 2014 for murdering schoolboy Daniel Morcombe 11 years earlier.
Cowan was reportedly punched by his fellow inmate.
A spokeswoman for Queensland Corrective Services confirmed Friday's incidents to the Queensland publication.
"One prisoner was assessed by medical staff on site with no treatment required and the other has been transported to hospital for further assessment," she said.
"No officers were injured in the incident."
Griffith was named as the man behind the child abuse charges just days earlier after a change in Queensland laws allowed alleged sex offenders to be named once charged.
The Australian Federal Police made the bombshell announcement on August 1 that a man had been charged with 1623 offences against 91 young girls while working at a dozen childcare centres in Brisbane, Sydney and overseas between 2007 and 2022.
Charges included 136 counts of rape and 110 counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10.
The Gold Coast man was also charged with more than 600 counts of indecent treatment of a child and more than 600 counts of making child exploitation material.

Paedophile Douglas Jackway to be released from Queensland prison
A convicted Queensland child rapist is set to be released from jail, despite being labelled one of "the worst" sex offenders in Australia.
A convicted child rapist and former suspect in the disappearance of 13-year-old schoolboy Daniel Morcombe is set to be released from a Queensland prison.
Douglas Brian Jackway has spent 25 years behind bars for the serious sexual assault of two children, a boy and a girl, in the 1990s.
The 44-year-old was also a suspect in the 2003 murder of Daniel Morcombe but was later determined not to be involved in the boy's death.
Jackway was sentenced to eight years in jail in 1995 for abducting and raping a boy in Gladstone, Queensland.
He was released from jail in 2003 and in 2005 was sent back to jail for raping a girl aged between nine and 10 in 1991.
In February 2012, he was detained in custody for an indefinite term under sexual offenders legislation, a decision that has since been reaffirmed six times.
Now, the Supreme Court has ruled Jackway is ready to be released due to the help of rehabilitation programs and treatment.
"He has taken significant time, with the assistance of rehabilitation programs and treatment, to reach a point of maturation and develop methods to exercise self-control over his emotions and behaviour for the Court to reach a view that he can be managed on a supervision order," a judgment summary read.
"His risks of reoffending are considered by psychiatrists to be moderate and below moderate under the conditions of a supervision order."
Upon his release, Jackway will be required to live in the Wacol precinct, will be subject to a curfew and will be required to wear a GPS tracker.
The supervision order is set for 15 years, with the Supreme Court judgment stating the order will provide "adequate protection" to the community.

Alleged childcare pedophile Ashley Paul Griffith attacked by inmate in Wolston jail
Thomas Chamberlin - October 7, 2023
One of Australia's worst alleged pedophiles was rushed to hospital after an inmate tipped boiling water over him at a Brisbane jail.
The Courier-Mail can reveal Ashley Paul Griffith was assaulted in unit S3 at Wolston on Friday.
Griffith was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital suffering facial burns after the incident which happened just after midday.
He was taken to the hospital to assess his burns.
The Courier-Mail was told the prisoner who assaulted Griffith may have even added jam to the hot water for the "napalm" attack to make the assault more painful and stick to him.
The inmate allegedly assaulted two prisoners.
Officers have told The Courier-Mail the second prisoner assaulted by the inmate was Brett Peter Cowan, who murdered schoolboy Daniel Morcombe.
It's understood Cowan was punched.
The assault on Griffith comes just days after the alleged pedophile was named for the first time under changes to Queensland laws which allow alleged sex offenders to be named after they are charged.
Griffith is facing more than 1600 charges relating to 91 young girls from 10 Brisbane childcare centres, a Sydney childcare centre and an international centre between 2007 and 2022.
The Gold Coast man has been charged with 136 counts of rape and 110 counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10.
He has also been charged with more than 600 counts of indecent treatment of a child and more than 600 counts of making child exploitation material.
He allegedly photographed and filmed the girls.
Griffith was arrested in August last year and was originally charged with two counts of making child exploitation material and one count of using a carriage service for child abuse material.
After investigators examined his devices he was charged with more than 1600 offences.
Before that point Griffith, 45, had spent about a year in the protection unit at Arthur Gorrie jail, which is the state's remand centre, where he had gained a job in prison industries.
Once the 1600-plus charges were announced he was placed into the detention unit for his own safety after people inside the jail became aware he was the person facing the charges.
He was then transferred to Brisbane Correctional Centre and was placed into the "special management unit".
At a later point he was transferred to Wolston jail at Wacol.
"Unit s3 is for the most protected prisoners that make the media and the worst sex offenders," an officer said.
When asked about the Friday incident involving the boiling water a Queensland Corrective Services spokeswoman confirmed a prisoner assaulted two other prisoners at Wolston.
"One prisoner was assessed by medical staff on site with no treatment required and the other has been transported to hospital for further assessment," she said.
"No officers were injured in the incident."
The incident has been referred to the Corrective Services Investigation Unit of the Queensland Police Service.

What can parents do better?
"It's got to be about having those conversations early so that they're not tough conversations later," Ms Humphries said.
"From the age of eight to 12, I had already been abused consistently for that period of time. So I was well and truly stuck in a child abuse cycle. I knew I had a choice about speaking up but I was really scared about what would happen if I did.
"Would my Mum and Dad still love me? Would they still want me to be their child? Were they going to hate me? I'm going to break up my family. There's all these things that were rolling through my head.
"When I disclosed, Mum was scared … she was angry, she was red faced and she was upset. It made me scared. You know? It's not her fault. I mean, she didn't really know any better, but had I gone to her - I know now - that she would have bundled me up and said; 'I love you, I never wanted something like that to happen to you'."
Professor Mathews said the conversations could start from as young as three years of age.
"Obviously, with three and four-year-olds, you don't start talking about sex. They're too young for that," he said.
"Instead they can understand correct names for body parts, they can understand the difference between good touch and bad touch and who's allowed to touch your body and under what circumstances, and who's not.
"All those conversations can happen way before any sexual abuse is likely to happen or normally does happen."
He said the general age of child sexual abuse taking place was around nine to ten years old.
"For many reasons, it is very hard for children to disclose. Children should not be made to feel obliged to disclose abusive experiences, but parents can create a trusting relationship with the child so they feel more able to confide in their parents," he said.
How to start the conversation
Professor Kerryann Walsh, an expert in child sexual abuse prevention and advisor to Bravehearts, the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, Act for Kids and the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation has written several guides on how to do this.
Here are some of her tips:
- Teach your child about public and private body parts. You could say; "Private body parts are covered by our singlet and undies".
- Teach the correct names for private body parts so children know the right words to use if they ever need to tell an adult about a problem with a private body part.
- Teach your child body safety rules. For younger children, you might say, "Your body belongs to you. No-one can touch or look at or take photos of your private body parts unless it is to keep you clean and healthy." (For example, a doctor or nurse providing medical care). "Even if it's someone you know, it's still not OK. You should tell me straight away, even if they ask you to keep it a secret".
- Teach your children to recognise physical warning signs of feeling uncomfortable or unsafe, like feeling funny in the tummy, their heart beating fast, or feeling hot, shaky or wobbly. Other signs might be goosebumps, or sweaty palms. Then keep the lines of communication open. Let your child know that it is ok to tell you about things that make them feel unsafe, scary, or confused, by saying, "it's important to tell me about how you feel so I can help you stay safe".
- Reinforce unconditional love. "Nothing is so awful or yucky that you can't tell me about it."
Professor Walsh said it's important a child knows who to go to when they feel unsafe.
"Together you can identify safety helpers - trusted family and friends or police and teachers," she said.
"Remind your child that if someone doesn't believe them, it's important to keep telling people until someone listens and helps them feel safe."

ELECTION TALK IN OZ...NEW PEDO REGISTER WILL "NAME AND SHAME"
Sourced from QRes#7842
A nationwide child sex offender register that will be rolled out under a re-elected Coalition Government could have stopped Daniel Morcombe's killer from following through on his vile fantasies.
That's the stark message from the murdered boy's father, as Daily Mail Australia reveals details of how the Federal Government's controversial name and shame system will work - on the day Prime Minister Scott Morrison called an election for May 18th.
The Coalition has announced it will invest $7.8 million in a paedophile public register that will publish the names, aliases, dates of birth, suburb and general nature of a perpetrators' offending - as well as their photograph.
Bruce Morcombe applauded the register as 'the best thing in this year's Budget'. He said his son's murderer Brett Peter Cowan may have had second thoughts if a register had been around when he was offending.
'Lord willing, he would've been on the register, and he may well have thought, I can't go down the path again because people will recognise me,' Mr Morcombe said.
The proposed paedophile register is just one of many policy differences between the Coalition and Labor, with the five-week election shaping as the starkest choice in a generation.
https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/how-a-coalition-government-will-roll-out-a-revolutionary-name-and-shame-paedophile-register-across-australia-if-elected-that-Daniel-Morcombes-dad-says-could-have-saved-his-sons-life/ar-BBVOL40?ocid=spartanntp
Coalition had lots of time to do all this stuff its now promising while in government (thats what shits me about the Proposed RC on the Edlerly Care Industry - Coalition knocked it back 3 times already - now there's an election its reoffered cause its a point winner), not just kick the can further down the road

Footage shows moment Daniel Morcombe kidnapper, murderer arrested
Police have released footage of the moment the murderer of a 13-year-old boy was arrested.
The eerie video shared by Queensland Police shows two officers arresting notorious Australian sex offender and murderer Peter Cowan for the kidnap and murder of Daniel Morcombe in 2011 after an eight-year-long investigation.
In the video Cowan stands in a clearing before two police officers make themselves known to him yelling "police" and "stay right there."
They tell him they are investigating the murder and abduction of 13-year-old boy Daniel Morcombe.
The officers ask Cowan if he remembers already being spoken to in relation to the murder, to which he replies "yep."
He is informed he has the right to remain silent, again responding with "yep."
The video then cuts to Cowan on the phone with his lawyer. He asks if he is under arrest, and the officers say not if he is willing to stay and talk with them.
"Then you can just arrest me," he said.
"You're under arrest for the murder of Daniel Morcombe," a detective tells him.
He turns back to the phone call and tells his lawyer in a calm tone "yep, cool. I'm under arrest for Daniel's murder."
