AP Asks a Question
Will it take market crash for Congress to raise debt limit?
WASHINGTON (AP) - There's one way to force President Joe Biden and Congress to solve the looming crisis over the debt limit: a financial market crash.
That's a view held by several economists and a former White House official, mindful that Congress rarely acts unless an emergency forces lawmakers to.
"For that drama not ending in tragedy, key actors have to play their roles," said Daleep Singh, who was Biden's national security adviser for international economics and deputy director of the National Economic Council. "Market participants have a lead role of playing the victim. They have to produce pain. They have to produce a sea of red on their Bloomberg screens because politicians need to look at those screens."
Republicans and Democrats have been dancing around each other about the need to raise the government's legal borrowing authority. Biden tried to edge closer on Thursday by releasing his budget plan that cuts deficits by $2.9 trillion over 10 years, an offer that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif, quickly dismissed as woefully insufficient. Republicans in the House Freedom Caucus on Friday proposed their own demands, which the White House quickly rejected.
This fandango could persist for several more months until the last possible moment, when the federal government would hit a currently unknown "X-date" - possibly as early as June - and be unable to pay its bills, possibly setting off a default that would suddenly wash away millions of jobs.

Annnnd, ACTION! - Traveling by Train Joe Biden Makes Surprise Visit to Kyiv, Ukraine
February 20, 2023 | Sundance
The theatre and pantomime of Ukraine, as orchestrated by the White House & State Dept. and summed up in the phrase "World War Reddit," continues. I will admit, the air raid sirens were a nice touch.
Joe Biden made a surprise trip into Kyiv, where the word "surprise" is intended to fall upon the eyes and ears of the American public, not the Ukrainian government or the Russians who were given advanced notice that Joe Biden was traveling to Kyiv to meet with President Zelenskyy.
The White House admits in their on-the-record briefing {Read Here} that Russia was informed of the trip prior to Biden's departure from Washington DC. So, the New York Times framing of the transportation aspect, "after a trans-Atlantic flight to Poland, Mr. Biden crossed the border by train, traveling for nearly 10 hours to Kyiv, as other American officials have in recent months,"was clearly done as part of the theatre around the visit.
Additionally, as every media article about the visit includes (for additional "color" of the performance) air raid sirens were sounded as Joe Biden and President Zelenskyy stepped out into the streets. From the screenplay as written. I suggest reading in your best Richard Attenboroughdramatic voice:
"Mr. Biden arrived early Monday morning to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky, and the two stepped out into the streets of Kyiv even as an air-raid siren sounded, a dramatic moment that underscored the investment the United States has made in Ukraine's independence."
[...] "Mr. Biden joined Mr. Zelensky for a visit to St. Michael's monastery in downtown Kyiv, where the sun glittered off the golden domes as the air-raid alarm wailed. Trailing two soldiers bearing a wreath, the two leaders walked along the Wall of Remembrance, with portraits of more than 4,500 soldiers who have died since Russia illegally annexed Crimea in 2014 and first fomented a rebellion in eastern Ukraine.
The air-raid alarm had stopped by the time Mr. Biden got back into his motorcade and departed the monastery. The alarms sound almost daily in Kyiv, but the blare of the siren added to the bristling tension of the moment. (read more)
Everything, and I do mean e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g, about the Russia-Ukraine war narrative, via western media, is a scripted performance using the best deployed messaging and narrative engineering systems as created by Hollywood and corp media. No western nation can generate propaganda as well as the United States.
White House Deputy National Security Advisor and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council, Daleep Singh, told everyone in February 2022 what the strategic policy of the Biden administration was toward Russia in the aftermath of the Ukraine conflict beginning. Few were paying attention:
..."Ultimately, the goal of our sanctions is to make this a strategic failure for Russia; and let's define a little bit of what that means. Strategic success in the 21st century is not about a physical land grab of territory; that's what Putin has done. In this century, strategic power is increasingly measured and exercised by economic strength, by technological sophistication and your story - who you are, what your values are; can you attract ideas and talent and goodwill? And on each of those measures, this will be a failure for Russia." (LINK)
Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh boiled down geopolitical power to a cultural issue of social likeability. Everything that has followed that February 24, 2022, announcement has been a strategic construct for public consumption. This is why I called the conflict "World War Reddit." As a result, one year later we see the theatrics of the conflict story once again being performed by the White House.
Very few people will recognize this. Fewer still even paid attention to the statements that preceded the theatrics.
World War Reddit continues....

Ukraine President Zelenskyy Makes a Broadcast Appearance at the Grammy Awards
April 3, 2022 | Sundance |
It was February 24, 2022, when Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh appeared at the White House podium to announce the official U.S. strategy for Ukraine. Singh boiled down geopolitical power to a cultural issue of social likeability when he said, "In this century, strategic power is increasingly measured and exercised by economic strength, by technological sophistication and your story - who you are, what your values are."
Singh stated the quiet part out loud. The White House views "strategic power" through the prism of social influence and likeability. Within that approach pop icons are used as influencers and ambassadors, and Hollywood is the quintessential State Department tool.
So, it does not come as a surprise to see the U.S. government promoting the propaganda behind President Zelenskyy on the Grammy Awards broadcast. {Direct Rumble Link}
Unfortunately, once you see the strings on the marionettes, you can never return to that moment in the performance when you did not see them. Notice how Zelenskyy talks in short metaphors and soundbites for encapsulation and distribution.
That script was written for him to deliver by the same performance artists within the U.S. Department of State and intelligence community. It is100% constructed propaganda intended to support the 'strategic power' missionas outlined by Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh.
These are the same people who created "#BringBackOurGirls" and "#KonySurrender" as strategic narratives intended to sway popular public opinion. This performance was made for a gullible television audience. There is nothing wrong with seeing through the scheme.
The harder they push this propaganda; the more people wake up to the manipulation. It's a vicious cycle. The more desperate they become, the harder they push the propaganda. It's one of the structural flaws that always exists in these operations. You are not crazy for noticing it. Trust your instincts.

US official warns India, others against increasing Russian oil imports
A significant increase in Russian oil imports by India could expose New Delhi to a "great risk" as the US prepares to step up enforcement of sanctions against Moscow, a senior official said
While the current U.S. sanctions against Russia do not prevent other countries from buying Russian oil, the warning raises expectations that Washington will attempt to restrict other countries' purchases to normal levels.
The U.S. official's comment comes ahead of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's two-day visit to New Delhi and during the ongoing visit of U.S. deputy national security adviser for economics Daleep Singh.

Russia sanctions Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and others
Russia's foreign ministry says it has imposed sanctions on US President Joe Biden and 12 other US officials.
The list includes Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, press secretary Jen Psaki and other members of the administration.
But it also includes two surprises: former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Mr Biden's son Hunter.
The measures block their entry into Russia and freeze any assets held in the country.
However, the ministry has said the sanctions will not impede necessary high-level contacts for the affected individuals.
Other names on the list are:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan
Deputy National Security Adviser Daleep Singh
US Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power
Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo
President of the Export-Import Bank of the US Reta Jo Lewis
The ministry has said it is applying sanctions "on the basis of reciprocity".
Russia is now the most sanctioned country in the world.
What sanctions are being imposed on Russia?
Russia's ex-president targeted in new UK sanctions
How sanctions have changed everyday life in Russia
Western countries have already sanctioned top Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
On Tuesday, the US announced sanctions on 11 Russian defence leaders and signalled that it could levy sanctions against Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Moscow-allied Belarus.
Earlier, the UK slapped sanctions on another 370 Russian individuals, including former Russian leader Dmitry Medvedev.
President Biden is due to travel to Europe next week to attend an emergency Nato summit in Brussels where he will assert Washington's "iron-clad" backing to its allies, the White House said on Tuesday.
Hillary Clinton can abandon dreams she may have had of buying a vacation dacha in Sochi.
Any Joe Biden post-presidency plans for starting a business in Moscow will have to be shelved.
Jokes aside, the Russian "stop" order placed on the US President, senior White House staff and - interestingly - a former secretary of state who has not held public office in nine years is a symbolic but not particularly consequential reprisal for the staggering sanctions the US and allies have imposed on Russia. It's not like any of the listed Americans had significant financial interests in Russia.
The move is a reflection, however, of the growing chasm between the US and Russia in the wake of the latter's invasion of Ukraine.
Prohibiting the top American diplomat, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, from even setting foot on Russian soil suggests relations between the two nations are at a post-Cold War nadir.
That has very real consequences outside of the Ukrainian conflict, as the US and Russia had hoped to co-operate on Iranian nuclear negotiations, counterterrorism, global warming and other pressing international issues. Chances of that happening now are increasingly dim.

Peace Talks Possible Between Russia and Ukraine, As Magnificently Defiant Zelenskyy Stands Atop The Alamo of Kyiv Taking Selfies
February 27, 2022 | Sundance | 777 Comments
The propaganda pouring out of Ukraine from the U.S. State Department and the taxpayer funded Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's) is, in a modern scale, historic.
In their collective effort to make #Ukraine the modern image of The Alamo (where the last stand to defend all mankind is taking place), the corporate media, state dept and NGO's are utilizing their Hollywood directed #BringBackOurGirls and #KonySurrender techniques in the extreme.
Pay no attention to the absence of any war fighting actually taking place, meaning the lack of actual fighting shooting and stuff in a modern era where everyone has cell phone cameras, and instead focus your attention to the 'story telling.'
After all, the White House was very clear that the winner of this contest to defend all humanity from the Russian villain Vladimir Putin, would depend on who could tell a "better story."
Thus, you do not need to see shooting or actual war type stuff. Instead, the contest to save the planet is boiled down to who can take a better selfie.
As Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh stated last week, the U.S. government has rallied the collective west to defeat Russia using the cultural weapon of social likeability. Vladimir Putin is getting pummeled.
It's all a grand pantomime folks. All of it.Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the newest Michael Avenatti.
Ukraine has been the playground for the U.S. State Dept, NGO's, intelligence schemes and DC political grift for well over a decade. You know it, because it has been well documented. Yet suddenly, the same Ukraine is the modern Alamo in the battle to save all mankind. Oh, okay, and we're supposed to forget the first stuff.
If you're wondering, why has it taken the Russia army four days to travel 30 miles? You must believe it is, because Ukrainians with their free Kalashnikov rifles and Molotov cocktails have beaten back the onslaught of heavily mechanized armored tank divisions. You must believe it, because you are being told by the most trusted names in news.
If you don't believe it... and if you think it all just seems odd as Ukrainian politicians are taking selfies amid this monumental military encounter... well, you must be a Russian agent, or something.
Comrades, just wait until tomorrow, when Russia will bomb the baby formula factories, then perhaps you will take it seriously. How can you not feel sympathy for the babies, the mothers, teachers, crying on the television as they tell stories about saving their children from the scourge of the artillery fire that must be heard in the ever familiar "off in the distance."
It's weird how no journalist will actually go to that "distant" place they all talk about. Alas, I digress....
WASHINGTON DC - Multiple media organizations are reporting that Ukraine and Russia will hold peace talks on the border of Ukraine and Belarus.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed to Sky News that the two sides would hold the talks on the border of Ukraine and Belarus, where some of the Russian troops invading his country had been held.
Zelensky had refused to agree to an earlier request for talks in Belarus, arguing it was not neutral territory.
Sunday was the fourth day of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has been slowed by fierce resistance from Ukrainian troops and private citizens.
Several cities including the capitol of Kyiv have been bombarded by Russia, and there has additionally been fighting in the streets.
Sky News, referring to a statement from Zelensky's office, said the two delegations will meet "without preconditions" near the Pripyat River. (read more)
Bottom line folks... the Russia -vs- Ukraine crisis is cover for the outcomes of Joe Biden's energy policy, so that American voters do not attach $10/gal gasoline to his climate change agenda, and instead apportion the blame to Russia and Vladimir Putin.
Again, "never let a crisis go to waste," and if you can't find the crisis to use, make one.

CNN Ukraine War Correspondent Admits Producers Scour Social Media for Content to Broadcast
February 27, 2022 | Sundance | 282 Comments
CNN 'War Correspondent' Clarissa Ward accidentally explained why the public is confused about what the corporate media are saying about the Ukraine war with Russia, compared to what is actually visible about the Ukraine war with Russia.
During a segment with Brian Stelter, Ms Ward explained how CNN war corresponding in Ukraine consists of talking about material provided to her by CNN production crews who sit and scour through YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and social media posts to find the input material for their stories.
Clarissa Ward didn't mean to expose how the propaganda of modern warfare is created, but she did.
Ward was thanking the people in the background of CNN who search social media for their Ukraine content; however, in talking about what they do, she affirmed what we already knew was taking place.
People wondering why there is no visible 'fight' in this war, now find the baseline which Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh was talking about last week. The State Department, intelligence community and political participants in the U.S. government are constructing the "war" against Vladimir Putin through the prism of social likeability as a cultural weapon.
When the goal is to produce content that tells the "better story," social media becomes the battlefield. War corresponding is reduced to using the corporate media platform to enhance the social media battlefield. Essentially you might call this "World War Reddit."
The CNN war correspondent doesn't even need to be in Ukraine, except for the fact they need some form of geographical context to create the credibility. The actual content of Ukraine material for the broadcast can just as easily be assembled in New York, California or mom's basement in Illinois.
The social media content extracted by CNN workers, stationed anywhere, is then transmitted to the network producers who assemble the material, and a "war correspondent' puts on a helmet and appears live on camera in Ukraine to discuss it.
This is modern journalism, aka propaganda creation, aka narrative engineering, and why there's a lack of actual evidence for anything being attributed to the narrative surrounding the war between Ukraine and Russia. WATCH:

White House Defines Strategic Success Against Russia As the Value of Their Story, Who Is More Attractive to the World
February 24, 2022 | Sundance | 131 Comments
THIS video from the White House briefing today, you absolutely must watch to gain a fulsome understanding of how the modern political left views the world of geopolitical contests in 2022.
Deputy National Security Advisor and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council, Daleep Singh, was presented at the podium today to explain the strategic policy of the Biden administration toward Russia.
Singh's remarks outlining the view of the 'west' toward defeating Russia are eloquent yet batshit crazy in their ideological context. Daleep Singh sounds like the senior head of a Google Human Resources operation telling the department heads how they need to convey their feelings in order to hire the talent for continued growth in the industry. This is a direct quote:
..."Ultimately, the goal of our sanctions is to make this a strategic failure for Russia; and let's define a little bit of what that means. Strategic success in the 21st century is not about a physical land grab of territory; that's what Putin has done. In this century, strategic power is increasingly measured and exercised by economic strength, by technological sophistication and your story - who you are, what your values are; can you attract ideas and talent and goodwill? And on each of those measures, this will be a failure for Russia."

View: Daleep Singh, President Biden's sanctions king, is changing the game.

Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh boils down geopolitical power to a cultural issue of social likeability.
Let this sink in.
Realize that what he is saying is the strategy leading our foreign policy.
Even if what he was saying is reasonable, and it's not, I'm thinking strong Russians with hot chicks, nice cars, fast boats and a culture of polite strength, loyalty and fierce protection are winning the "story" side of the argument.

Kamala Harris Warns Americans of Higher Energy Costs if Russia Invades Ukraine
Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged Americans would face higher energy costs in the event of Russian President Vladimir Putin sending troops into the Ukraine, citing the punishing sanctions prepared for when it happened.
"When America stands for her principles and all of the things that we hold dear, it requires sometimes for us to put ourselves out there in a way that maybe we will incur some cost," Harris explained to American reporters on Sunday, after meeting with European leaders about the Russian threat to Ukraine.
The expectation of higher costs for energy was first previewed by President Joe Biden last week as he prepared Americans for the economic impact of his sanctions against Russia.
"I will not pretend this will be painless," Biden said on Wednesday. "There could be impact on our energy prices."
In 2021, America imported an average of 202,000 barrels of crude oil per day, the highest amount in 11 years. The United States is even importing more oil from Russia than Saudi Arabia.
White House advisers on Friday conceded there would be an economic cost to holding Russia accountable when they invaded Ukraine.
"Policy involves trade-offs," Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh admitted during a press briefing at the White House. "And the President said this week he's not going to pretend that this is all painless."
Singh urged Americans to realize the sacrifice of higher prices for energy and other goods was for the sake of democracy around the world.
"Think if Russia's aggression in the heart of Europe went unchecked," he said, previewing Putin's action as "possibly the largest land invasion in the post-Cold War era."
Singh continued:
Think of the uncertainties that would cause. Think of the chilling effect that would cause across the European continent. Think of the questions that will be asked about which other countries could be bullied by an autocrat looking to exert a sphere of influence. Those are costs we're not willing to tolerate.
Biden and White House officials have repeated that administration officials are looking at ways to ease the burden of higher sanctions, but have not offered any details.
Some Democrat members of Congress have signaled support for temporarily lifting the gas tax, but the White House has not offered support for the idea.
"Well, we've said every option is on the table, including that," White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Friday when asked about lifting the gas tax. "But a decision has not been made."

The New York Fed has apparently not yet recognized that Daleep Singh, its Executive Vice President and head of its Markets Group that operates its own trading floor at the New York Fed, has moved on to become President Biden's Deputy National Security Advisor. As of this morning, the New York Fed still had Singh listed as employed at the New York Fed.
"...he oversees the group's full portfolio, including implementing monetary policy, monitoring and analyzing global financial market developments, executing lender of last resort operations, providing financial services for foreign and international monetary authorities, providing capital market-related services to the U.S. Treasury as their fiscal agent, and administering and producing several reference rates for the U.S. money markets. He plays a key role in developing and implementing the Bank's strategic direction and priorities, and is a member of the Bank's Executive Committee." Bloomberg News reported that Singh had been tapped by the Biden administration in February of this year. Singh was interviewed in his new job at the G-7 Summit in June.
Last Tuesday, the White House announced that Joshua Frost had been selected by Biden to become Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury for Financial Markets. Frost has worked at the New York Fed for more than two decades. He also comes out of the Markets Group. Frost had apparently already moved to an unannounced role at the U.S. Treasury earlier this year: his name showed up in Treasury meeting notes in May. According to a March 1, 2014 press release from the New York Fed, Frost was promoted to Senior Vice President in the "market operations monitoring and analysis function of the Markets Group." According to a 2011 fawning New York Times report, Frost played a major role in the Fed's quantitative easing (QE) programs during and after the financial crash of 2008. QE, which has been revived again, allows the Fed to effectively create artificial ("administered") interest rates by creating artificial demand for U.S. Treasuries and agency mortgage-backed securities by buying up tens of billions of dollars each month of the instruments. While the Fed reports all of these securities on its own balance sheet, JPMorgan Chase is actually the custodian for the Fed of more than $2.38 trillion in agency mortgage-backed securities purchased under QE programs - despite its five felony counts. (Apparently, stock ownership in the New York Fed has its privileges.)
Frost has the distinction of having worked under three separate heads of the Markets Group at the New York Fed: Daleep Singh, Simon Potter and Brian Sack. Both Potter and Sack have moved on to hedge funds. According to Potter's LinkedIn profile, he is currently Vice Chair of the hedge fund, Millennium. Sack's LinkedIn profile indicates that he is the Director of Global Economics for the hedge fund, D.E. Shaw Group, and "a member of the firm's Discretionary Macro trading unit." Rounding out the crisis era veterans from the New York Fed is Calvin Mitchell, who is now Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Treasury. Mitchell's appointment was announced on Biden's first day in office, January 20, 2021. Mitchell served as the Head of Communications at the New York Fed during the financial crisis of 2008 when Tim Geithner was President of the New York Fed. Geithner and the Markets Group oversaw the sluicing of that secret $29 trillion bailout of Wall Street- (see enclosed pdf)
When we say "secret $29 trillion bailout," we really mean "secret." The Fed battled in court for years in an effort to prevent that information from being released to the American people. Even after losing its case at the Federal District Court, the Fed appealed to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. When that appeal was also ruled against it, it asked for a rehearing. When that was rejected, a Wall Street consortium of banks, that were the recipients of the trillions of dollars in secret loans, appealed the case to the U.S. Supreme Court. That appeal failed as well and the Fed was, finally, forced to release its bailout data in 2011 - after Congress had already approved, and President Obama had signed, the toothless Dodd-Frank financial reform legislation that enshrined even more power at the Fed to supervise the mega banks on Wall Street.
