SECRET MILITARY DOCUMENTS: Trudeau invited Chinese troops to train at Canadian military bases
Read the secret "China Files" now!
By Ezra Levant | December 09, 2020
ustin Trudeau invited China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) to send its troops for cold weather training at CFB Petawawa in Ontario - and Trudeau raged at the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) for cancelling the training after China kidnapped Canadian citizens Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig.
This is only one of many bombshell revelations in The China Files, a 34-page access to information document released by the Trudeau government to Rebel News, seen below.
Documents that normally would have been completely blacked out by government censors were instead greyed out - the documents remain completely readable. Rebel News has chosen to black out a very small portion that would otherwise compromise the safety of an individual.
ow we got these secret documents:
In April of 2019, Rebel News first wrote to the government asking for any records corroborating a Russian report that Canada had sent a delegation to China for the 70th anniversary celebrations for the PLA Navy - a propaganda exercise held just months after the kidnapping of the two Michaels. The Trudeau government delayed replying to Rebel News for 19 months, but when they finally did, they not only confirmed their attendance at that macabre event, but listed other exchanges between the PLA and the CAF. Those include training Chinese commanders at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto, as well as other military facilities in Kingston. Chinese military participants included 1- and 2-star generals and an entire contingent who would learn Canadian cold weather military tactics.
The CAF's decision to cancel the cold weather training panicked Trudeau, who demanded that Canada's military not cancel any more engagements with the PLA without explicit permission first, and that the news of the cancellation had to be told to the PLA gently, to let them save face.

Other revelations include:
Disgraced cabinet minister Catherine McKenna jetted to China for a three-day conference just months after the two Michaels were taken hostage
Trudeau sent nearly 200 CAF personnel to Wuhan in October of 2019 to participate in the Military World Games, a propaganda bonanza for China diplomatic reports that China is using its "belt and road" negotiations to demand that countries drop human rights complaints if they want trade deals
Chinese censorship of Twitter use
Chinese use of a smartphone app to track Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang
Bureaucrats bizarre protocol of referring to accused fraudster and Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou as "Ms. Meng", but refusing to even mention the two Michaels by name
Bureaucrats deriding concerns about military knowledge transfer to China as figments of the "Trump Administration"
Trudeau's approach to China
The China Files show that Trudeau's submissive approach to China isn't just his personal obsession- it's the official policy of his entire government and it has deeply infected Canada's civil service, too. Trudeau's right-hand man, Ian Shugart, was tasked with silencing the CAF's legitimate concerns about China, and forcing our military to continue acting as if China, not the U.S., was our most important ally.
As a public service, Rebel News is publishing the documents in full in the hopes that other reporters will continue to unlock the truth about how Trudeau is turning Canada away from our democratic allies, and towards the world's greatest dictatorship.

McKenna is seen attending an arranged marriage, and feasting on the same Buffalo that was used to purchase the bride.
Last week, shocking footage surfaced online showing Liberal Minister Catherine McKenna eating dog meat and bribing her way into an illegal cockfight in Indonesia. On Wednesday, The Post Millennial discovered new footage from the same trip, but this time McKenna is seen attending an arranged marriage and feasting on the same buffalo that was used to purchase the young bride.
In the newly-surfaced footage from a documentary titled "Real Travels: 60 days in Indonesia," McKenna and her friends attend a wedding where the bride was purchased for three buffalo and $4.5 million Indonesian Rupiah-approximately $400 CAD. McKenna and her friends ate at least two of the buffalo that evening. The narrator also states that "the male who is the highest bidder, got his bride to be," and in this circumstance, it was the brother of their tour guide that won the auction for the bride.
McKenna has yet to respond to the first footage that emerged last week. As the former environment minister and as a current Liberal cabinet member, animal rights activists feel she should be held to account and apologize.
With this new footage emerging, Catherine McKenna's prominent feminist activism is being called into question by women's rights groups.

>The letter alleged Trudeau is guilty from everything from obstruction of justice to the enabling of a "multi-billion dollar intercontinental child trafficking enterprise" and "sex slavery"-much of it drawn straight from the playbook of QAnon, the delusional conspiracy theory that posits that U.S. President Donald Trump is secretly fighting a cabal of pedophilic liberal elites for control of Washington.
The ringleader, Norman Traversy, has been filing vexatious legal documents with various courts, hoping that the justice system would spring into action. Unfortunately for the retired firefighter, he has been relying on antiquated sections of Canadian law and misunderstanding all sorts of legal concepts. Most critically, his claims are without merit or evidence.
Nevertheless, it has inspired others and he has managed to crowdfund nearly $150,000 for the venture. After the rally, a group of protesters set up at the National War Memorial, across from Parliament Hill, to continue the crusade.
They are motivated, in part, by the belief that individuals have the right to launch private prosecutions or perform citizens' arrests.
In recent weeks, activists associated with the encampment have accosted staffers for Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna, tried to arrest a Radio-Canada reporter thinking he was a Bloc Quebecois MP, and threatened to arrest Singh, the leader of Canada's fourth-largest party in Parliament.
It's not entirely clear why the agitators would want to arrest politicians from the NDP and Bloc, but video shows Singh, walking alone down Wellington Street, doing his best to try and ignore the agitator as he threatens to perform an arrest.
When the group appeared on the grounds of Rideau Hall earlier this summer, where both Trudeau and Governor General Julie Payette live, Brian Kidder, a core member of the group, tried to force his way past security to perform a citizens' arrest of Trudeau. When he was stopped, his supporters accused security of "obstruction of justice."
Canada does permit citizens' arrests, but only in limited circumstances. For it to be legal, the person performing the arrest has to genuinely believe that someone is in physical danger, and the arrest is an attempt to avoid that danger. While the activists may contend that the arrest is reasonable to stop an international child sex trafficking ring, as described by the QAnon delusion, no court would entertain such an argument, given that no evidence exists for the conspiracy.
At an event held Saturday in Ottawa, billed as a "public inquiry" to study the prime minister's supposed crimes, Kidder took the stage to describe his campaign.
By his own count, he's tried to arrest Trudeau seven times-on top of his other confrontations-and has yet to face charges for assault, disturbing the peace, or any other criminal complaint. As he told the crowd, "that itself says a lot."
Indeed, after his failed arrest of a journalist outside the Radio-Canada building, Ottawa police arrived and put Kidder in handcuffs, only to release him shortly after without charges.
At the event, Kidder detailed the motivations for his actions: After being injured on the job about five years ago, Kidder applied for worker's compensation and was denied. He became convinced that the then-Liberal government of Ontario was engaging in a conspiracy to deny his benefits; the plot has since stretched all the way to Trudeau's office.
The fact that Kidder is not facing charges, and that the camp is still sitting on federal government land, is evidence for some politicians that the RCMP is not taking these threats seriously.
Kidder, emboldened, recently wrote on Facebook that he plans to attempt a citizens' arrest on former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould as well. Given she is now an independent Member of Parliament, she can count on no dedicated security presence.

Infrastructure bank to invest $10B in priority areas for COVID recovery
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau outlined Thursday how the Canada Infrastructure Bank intends to invest $10 billion in projects meant to create 60,000 jobs and contribute to the fight against climate change. "We will continue to do what it takes to support Canadians through this crisis, safely get our economy back up and running, and get people back to work," Trudeau said in a release accompanying the announcement. The list does not include specific projects or any new money but highlights priority areas in which the bank intends to invest.
That includes $1.5 billion for agricultural infrastructure in Western Canada and $2 billion for broadband to expand access to high-speed internet service across the country. It also includes $2.5 billion for clean power, $1.5 billion for zero-emission buses and $2 billion to retrofit buildings for energy efficiency. The announcement includes $500 million to help speed up the things that need to be done before starting construction, such as studies and technical reports. Trudeau was joined by the new chair of the bank's board, Michael Sabia, and Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna. The Liberals say the investment plan is part of the government's promise in last week's throne speech to create one million jobs and help revive an economy ravaged by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It is also intended to help the government meet its goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Trudeau's government launched the infrastructure bank in 2017 with the authority to spend $35 billion over 10 years. The idea was for the bank to entice funding from private-sector partners, particularly big institutional investors like pension funds, to pay for what the government called "transformational" infrastructure projects. However, the bank has been criticized for the relatively few investments it has made thus far, in just nine projects. During last fall's federal election campaign, both the Conservatives and the NDP promised to abolish the bank if elected.
The bank has invested $1.28 billion in the REM automated light rail network in Montreal. It's pledged up to $2 billion to expand GO Transit service between Toronto and Hamilton and up to $300 million to increase container-handling capacity at the port of Montreal. Other investments are small (such as $55 million to Via Rail for the development of plans for an eventual high-speed rail corridor between Toronto and Quebec City), are for consulting or advisory services, or are just at the stage of memorandums of agreement. Sabia, the former head of Quebec's pension fund, was named chairman of the board in April amid a shakeup of the bank's senior executives.
At that time, he and the government predicted that the bank would play a major role in stimulating the economy after the pandemic.

WATCH: Trudeau cabinet minister ate dog meat, attended illegal cockfight in Indonesia
A prominent animal rights activist is calling for Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Catherine McKenna to apologize after two shocking videos show the minister eating dog and bribing her way into a cockfight on the Indonesian island of Flores in 1995.
The videos originate from a travel documentary made by Underknown's Steve Hulford, wherein young travelers explore foreign cultures, including cuisines.
The first clip shows McKenna and her group bribing their way into an illegal cockfight. Cockfighting, a violent gambling event wherein two roosters are put into a ring to fight to the death, was made illegal by the Indonesian government in 1981, 14 years before McKenna travelled to the Island nation.

Rise in far-right threats against Justin Trudeau, police warn
The number of threats against Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has risen compared to the same period last year, Canadian police have warned.
Figures from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) show there were 130 threats against Mr Trudeau and ministers from January to July.
This is a jump from 100 threats made in the same period in 2019.
The RCMP report follows a number of security incidents targeting federal officials in the country.
In July, an armed suspect was arrested for breaching the entrance of the estate where Mr Trudeau lives.
Mr Trudeau and his family, who are currently living at a cottage on the Rideau Hall estate while the prime minister's official residence is being renovated, were not at home at the time of the incident.
Other incidents include attempted attacks on Governor General Julie Payette - the official representative of Queen Elizabeth II - who resides at the same estate as Mr Trudeau, and more recently, Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna.
Footage posted on social media showed a man shouting insults and expletives about Ms McKenna and Mr Trudeau at one of Ms McKenna's staff members.
Ottowan MPP Lisa MacLeod was forced to go under police protection after receiving threatening emails, as well as what the Ottawa Citizen newspaper described as an unspecified "mischievous incident".
Expressing her support for Ms MacLeod, Ms McKenna called for "better measures" to prevent threats and abuse against officials.
Daniel Brien, a spokesperson with the national police force, told the Toronto Star newspaper that the RCMP would not discuss the specific nature of the threats that the force has been tracking.
Another report, released by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD), found anti-government sentiment - specifically against Mr Trudeau - was a "highly salient" topic among far-right extremists online, along with Islamophobia and anti-Semitism.
Justin Trudeau was mentioned in 11.4% of posts made by right-wing extremist Facebook pages and groups, and featured in 28% of the YouTube content analysed, the ISD said.
"Anti-immigration and anti-Muslim themes are often tied to anti-Trudeau and anti-left sentiments, as (right wing extremist) groups and individuals' perception that immigration is intrinsically tied to the policies enacted by Trudeau's Liberal (party) government and left-wing politics more broadly," the report added.
Anti-Trudeau sentiments among extremists were also tied to anti-Semitic conspiracy theories that George Soros and the UN are "deliberately increasing migration as part of a broader attack on white people", it said.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/canada-s-house-of-commons-has-declared-a-national-climate-emergency-1.4470804
Canada's House of Commons has declared a national climate emergency
The House of Commons has passed a motion declaring a national climate emergency, and supporting Canada's commitment to meet the Paris Agreement emissions targets.
Conservative MPs voted against the motion, but it still passed 186-63 with the support of the Liberals, New Democrats, Bloc Quebecois and Green MPs. The motion was was put forward by Environment and Climate Change Minister Catherine McKenna.
The motion describes climate change as a "real and urgent crisis, driven by human activity," notes how it is impacting Canadians, and states the need to pursue clean growth methods to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Given this, the House has voted to "declare that Canada is in a national climate emergency which requires, as a response, that Canada commit to meeting its national emissions target under the Paris Agreement and to making deeper reductions in line with the Agreement's objective of holding global warming below two degrees Celsius and pursuing efforts to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius."
Forcing a vote on the motion meant all MPs had to stand up and be counted, whether or not they support Canada meeting the Paris targets. This motion appeared to be drafted with Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer in mind.
He is set to unveil his long-awaited environmental policy in a speech on Wednesday, after he vowed more than a year ago on CTV's Question Period that he would be unveiling a climate plan ahead of the 2019 election that will meet the Paris Agreement, without a carbon tax.
Eight months later, Scheer walked back that promise on the same program. He could not commit that his plan would meet the targets, instead saying his plan would have "meaningful reductions."
Scheer has billed his climate change announcement as "the most comprehensive policy announcement by an opposition party in Canadian history."
He was not present for the vote, nor was Prime Minister Justin Trudeau or NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, as they were all in Toronto for the Raptors' NBA victory parade. Green Party Leader Elizabeth May was present for the vote, as was People's Party Leader Maxime Bernier, who joined the Conservatives in opposing the motion.

Bank of England chief: Green infrastructure will require $7 trillion investment
Reuters
Jul 19, 2016
Carney, speaking with Canadian Environment and Climate Change Minister Catherine McKenna at an event in Toronto, said measures to finance green initiatives would form a major part of this year's G20 summit in China in September, and encouraged investors to back them.
"In terms of what is the magnitude of clean energy or lower- carbon energy infrastructure and cleaner water sanitation, etc., that will be put in place over the next 15 to 20 years … it's somewhere in the order of $5 to $7 trillion," Carney said. "The question is how much of that is going to be financed through capital markets."
China, one of the world's biggest greenhouse gas emitters, is eager to be seen taking a leadership role in global action to combat climate change and has said it will push for efforts to encourage green investment while leading the G20 group of developed and emerging market countries.
Carney said the Bank of England had been working with the People's Bank of China over the past 18 months to develop a "green" bond market that could finance environmentally friendly projects, part of a broader set of initiatives.
The former Bank of Canada governor said about $500 billion will be raised each year in China through capital markets to finance environmentally friendly projects.
He said those instruments could be attractive to global investors, many of whom are struggling to generate required returns against the backdrop of government bond yields at record lows and volatile global equity markets.
"How are your yields these days?" Carney asked fixed-income investors at the event.
"It won't surprise you that yields in China are considerably higher than those in Canada and the UK and elsewhere. It also won't surprise you that they are keen to open up this market."
Carney also backed efforts to launch programs that put a price on carbon dioxide emissions, saying it was the "cleanest" way to regulate to stabilize emissions.
Carney was Bank of Canada governor before being recruited in 2012 to head the Bank of England.
He did not discuss Britain's recent vote to leave the European Union and did not take questions from reporters.

Exposing Australia's recycling lie | 60 Minutes Australia
There is no doubt Australia is one of the most wasteful nations in the world, so the practice of recycling helps to lessen our guilt. As we drag our bins out for collection each week, we feel like we're helping the environment. But the reality is that we're all being conned. Right now, Australia is stuck in an unsightly and worsening recycling crisis. What is being done with plastic waste, the material most people think would be easy to salvage and re-use, is of the greatest concern. As Liam Bartlett discovers, most of it ends up either being buried or worse - exported to countries like Malaysia, a place we are now treating like a garbage bin.

Articles about recycling system abuse

Liberals paid WEF for report justifying climate change policies
https://thecountersignal.com/liberals-paid-wef-for-report-justifying-climate-change-policies-2/
Trudeau Liberals paid the WEF to produce a report that called for a carbon tax, then months later, hiked up their pricing scheme.
Documents reveal the Liberals' Climate Change department paid the World Economic Forum (WEF) to produce a report that made an economic case for their environmental agenda, including the ever-increasing carbon tax.
In August 2019, the Environment and Climate Change (ECCC) department's then-minister, Catherine McKenna, gave $493,937 of taxpayer dollars to the WEF to produce the report, as revealed in response to an Order Paper Question sent by Conservative MP Leslyn Lewis.
Specifically, the documents reveal the ECCC gave money "to enable [the WEF] to produce and disseminate a report that will establish the business and economic case for safeguarding nature."
"This report will be directed at senior decision makers in governments and businesses who have the influence and ability to shift business-as-usual approach," the ECCC stated. [Emphasis added]
Six months later, the WEF provided the Liberals exactly what they asked for.
In their report New Nature Economy Report Series, the WEF sourced papers favouring a carbon tax. Furthermore, the report's policy recommendation stated "Carbon pricing should also be introduced."
The report highlighted Colombia's carbon scheme - where they tax liquid fossil fuels at $5/tonne - and pointed out that the taxes yielded revenues.

Canadian gov't paid nearly $500K for a report to support imposing carbon tax on citizens, records show
https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/canadian-govt-paid-nearly-500k-for-a-report-to-support-imposing-carbon-tax-on-citizens-records-show/
The Environment and Climate Change department helped fund a report by the World Economic Forum to make a strong business case for extreme environmental rules such as a carbon tax.
Disclosed records show the Canadian government's Environment and Climate Change Department (ECCC) helped pay the World Economic Forum (WEF) to produce a report that praised and tried to justify the implementation of a radical environmental agenda on citizens, including increasing the punishing carbon tax.
According to documents obtained by The Epoch Times, Canada's then-Environment and Climate Change Minister Catherine McKenna in August 2019 had allotted $493,937 of taxpayer money to the WEF to produce the carbon tax-friendly "New Nature Economy Report."
The goal was to make a strong business case to key business and government decision-makers for extreme environmental rules such as a carbon tax.
The ECCC said its report "will be directed at senior decision-makers in governments and businesses who have the influence and ability to shift business-as-usual approach."
The disclosed documents became known via Order Paper questions requested by Conservative Party of Canada MP Leslyn Lewis in June 2023. Lewis had asked for a full disclosure of all "contracts, transfer payments, memoranda of understanding, letters of intent, charters, accords, projects and associations between the government and the WEF since November 4, 2015."
The outcomes from the Order Paper resulted in a 127-page response that was tabled in the House of Commons on September 18. Continue…

Catherine McKenna calls carbon tax opponents "arsonists"
https://tnc.news/2023/08/21/McKenna-carbon-tax-arsonists/
Former Liberal environment minister Catherine McKenna had harsh words for Conservatives who oppose carbon taxes.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), McKenna called them "arsonists" responsible for the growing number of wildfires across Canada.
McKenna formerly served as a cabinet minister under Trudeau from 2015-2021 first as minister of environment and climate change and then as minister of infrastructure and communities from 2019 to 2021, when she didn't seek reelection. Continue…

Federal weather monitoring app tracked nearly one million Canadians
https://tnc.news/2022/06/26/weather-app/
Another application launched by the Trudeau government tracked the location of nearly one million Canadians.
According to Blacklock's Reporter, the Department of Environment admitted in a recent Inquiry of Ministry that the WeatherCAN application collected personal information of Canadians - including locations and email addresses of users.
"All personal information created, held or collected via this app by the department is protected under the Privacy Act," wrote staff.
"The 'current location' function on this app enables the app to provide weather information based on the current Global Positioning System location of your mobile device."
When the application was launched, former environment minister Catherine McKenna encouraged Canadians to download the application on Twitter.
"Oh yes!! (WeatherCAN) app is available for download! Now I can obsess over the super cool radar feature and figure out the likelihood of getting home to snowy Ottawa tonight to see my kids! Check it out!" tweeted McKenna.
The federal government has said that the application complied with privacy laws and requested access from users upon launch.
"Access is requested upon launch and achieved only if granted by the user," the inquiry stated. Continue…

True North relied on a provisional list of registered participants published by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to achieve the count.
According to the UNFCCC document, Canada sent 276 delegates to COP26 including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau himself, numerous federal ministers, several provincial premiers and dozens of federal staff and media.
The number of delegates sent by Canada outnumbered even the amount of people sent to attend by the conference's host state, the UK.
In total, the UK sent the second-highest number of delegates numbering in at 227 attendees.
The UK was followed by Japan who sent 225 delegates, while France sent 195 officials to attend. The US came in fifth place with 133 delegates sent.
Meanwhile, Germany came second last with 120 delegates sent, followed by 66 attendees sent to COP26 by Italy.
As first reported by Blacklock's Reporter, the Department of Environment has refused to reveal the cost of the diplomatic trip.
Among those listed as being part of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's entourage was his own personal videographer, photographer, speechwriter and a media team of 17 made up of press secretaries and communications directors.
A number of reporters from CBC News, CTV, Global News and other outlets also attended.
Additionally, it is unclear whether taxpayers footed the bill of former environment minister Catherine McKenna, who was spotted at the conference but whose name does not make it into the official COP26 roll call.
An estimated 30,000 delegates have been sent by nations and organizations around the world to the two week event. According to local outlet Sunday Mail, delegates boarded over 400 private jets to attend, contributing an estimated 13,000 tonnes of CO2 pollution into the environment.

Canada sends nearly 300 bureaucrats, and one ex-minister, to COP26 in Glasgow
https://westernstandardonline.com/2021/11/canada-sends-nearly-300-bureaucrats-and-one-ex-minister-to-cop26-in-glasgow/
Other Canadians in attendance included the Prime Minister's official photographer, official videographer and lead speechwriter, seventeen press secretaries and communications directors, four CBC reporters and the entire Green Party caucus comprised of two MPs.
Canada's Environment department sent a plane full of bureaucrats - and perhaps one former minister - to the Glasgow COP26 conference on climate change.
Blacklock's Reporter says Canada had a whopping 277-member delegation in Glasgow, 17 press aides and former Environment Minister Catherine McKenna as a VIP.
New Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault is also in attendance and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke to the delegates
"Canada has taken steps to ensure diverse perspectives are reflected in international forums," said Samantha Bayard, spokeswoman for the department.
McKenna's name is not on Canada's official delegate list though she attended meetings of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change. McKenna did not seek re-election September 20. Bayard didn't say whether or not she travelled on her own dime.
A total 39,509 people from countries around the world registered for the Glasgow conference, including 3,800 media and 14,000 observers. The meeting continues until November 12.
Canada's delegation included Guilbeault, Deputy Environment Minister Thelma Hogan, Assistant Deputy Minister Catherine Stewart, Climate Change Ambassador Patricia Fuller, Climate Change Director Joanna Dafoe and 25 advisors and negotiators with the department.
Other Canadians in attendance included the prime minister's official photographer, official videographer and lead speechwriter, 17 press secretaries and communications directors, four CBC reporters and the entire Green Party caucus comprised of two MPs.
A delegation half the size at a 2019 UN climate conference in Madrid cost $683,278 according to a report tabled in the Commons. Expenses for air fare, taxis and chauffeured cars for the 144 Canadian delegates were $178,282.
"A number of invoices and claims have yet to be processed," said the report.
Costs billed by the Canadian delegation in Spain included $93,439 for meals, another $228,881 for hotels and $21,080 billed as "hospitality."
The report did not detail liquor expenses.
Then-Environment Minister Jonathan Wilkinson in a December 10, 2019 speech at the conference called for "deeper emission reductions" in greenhouse gases.
"Climate change is a defining issue of our time and the main reason why I entered politics," said Wilkinson.
"We know we must increase our ambition. Canada is committed to working with you to advance momentum on climate action."
Teen climate activist Greta Thunberg in a speech at the Madrid conference urged delegates to use dramatic language to illustrate the impact of climate change.
"When you talk in public you should start with something personal or emotional to get everyone's attention. Say things like, 'Our house is on fire,' 'I want you to panic' or 'How dare you?'" said Thunberg.
"Without that sense of urgency, how can we the people understand that we are facing a real crisis? If the people are not fully aware of what is going on, then they will not put pressure on the people in power to act."

If you thought Catherine McKenna was divisive as environment minister, wait until you see what Steven Guilbeault has planned for this file.
As a former Greenpeace activist who illegally scaled the CN Tower, Guilbeault truly believes in the cause of fighting climate change - and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is well-aware of this.

TERRAZZANO: Don't want to tax our home? Remove reporting requirement
https://tnc.news/2021/09/18/terrazzano-dont-want-to-tax-our-home-remove-reporting-requirement/
Actions speak louder than words. That's especially the case with politicians' promises.
Politicians say they won't send the taxman after Canadians' homes. But let's be honest, Canadians don't believe them. If politicians truly want to reassure taxpayers that there is no home equity tax coming, they'll remove the requirement for Canadians to report the sale of their home with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
Through a home equity tax, the federal government would take a chunk of the proceeds from the sale of principal residences. MoneyWise estimates that a Quebec family that bought its home for $500,000 and sold it for $600,000 would pay a $20,858 home equity tax. That's $20,858 that a retiring couple couldn't use to fund their golden years and a young couple couldn't put towards a family home.
There's currently no home equity tax in Canada. But homeowners need to stay on guard.
In 2016, Ottawa made it mandatory for Canadians to report the sale of their primary residence even though it's tax-exempt. If you sell your home, the CRA wants to know how much money you received from that sale. But, if the taxman isn't taxing it, then why is the taxman asking that question? Is the CRA just curious?
Politicians say they won't impose a home equity tax while they sing for their supper during the election.
Trudeau denied that a Liberal government would impose a home equity tax during the last leaders' debate. Liberal candidate Mark Gerretsen even posted a graphic to social media that says, "the Liberal's are not going to implement a home equity tax."
Taxpayers shouldn't trust them until they delete the reporting requirement.
The Liberals are already sniffing around Canadian homes. Last budget, the Trudeau government announced a tax on foreigners who own vacant homes. Now, the Liberals want to send the taxman after you if you sell your home earlier than they think you should. And we already know that the feds spent $250,000 of our tax dollars studying home taxes.
Trudeau and the Liberals have misled taxpayers before.
In the lead-up to the last federal election, former environment minister Catherine McKenna told Canadians the Liberals had "no intention" of raising the carbon tax beyond $50 per tonne. After the election was over, Trudeau announced he would hike the carbon tax to $170 per tonne by 2030. That would soak a family for about $30 every time they fuel up their minivan.
Last year, Trudeau promised Canadians he wouldn't raise taxes.
"The last thing Canadians need is to see a rise in taxes right now," said Trudeau. "We are not going to be saddling Canadians with extra costs."
Despite that promise, Trudeau raised the carbon tax and booze taxes months later. His 2021 budget also included a raft of tax increases such as higher tobacco taxes, a vaping tax, sales taxes for digital services and a luxury goods tax.
On the other side, Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole's platform says "Canada's Conservatives will never tax Canadians' capital gains on the sale of their principal residence, something many within the Liberal party are threatening to do."
That's a pretty strong rejection of a home equity tax. It's almost as strong as O'Toole's pledge to fight carbon taxes:
"I, Erin O'Toole promise that, if elected Prime Minister of Canada, I will: Immediately repeal the Trudeau carbon tax; and, reject any future national carbon tax or cap-and-trade scheme."
O'Toole is now breaking his pledge and will hammer families with a carbon tax of his own.
The moral of the story: political talk is cheap.
If politicians want to prove that they won't tax the sale of Canadians' principal residence, then they must remove the requirement for taxpayers to report the sale of their home to the taxman.
Franco Terrazzano is the Federal Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

O'Toole promises to end failed Liberal Infrastructure Bank
https://tnc.news/2021/09/02/otoole-promises-to-end-failed-liberal-infrastructure-bank/
Conservative Party Leader Erin O'Toole promised on Wednesday to scrap the Liberal government's inefficient infrastructure bank.
According to O'Toole, the infrastructure bank, which was established by Liberal Party Leader Justin Trudeau in 2015, was a failed Liberal project.
"Unlike the Liberals, we won't condition funding so narrowly, to whether the project can be described as 'green infrastructure,'" said O'Toole during a campaign stop in Ottawa.
O'Toole also stated that under a Conservative government, the existing money in the bank would be distributed to infrastructure projects that are ready to build.
Additionally, money would be used so cities and First Nations could have better access to government infrastructure funds by cutting regulatory obstacles.
With regard to digital infrastructure, O'Toole reiterated his promise to reach high-speed internet for all Canadians no matter where they live in the country.
To date, the crown corporation has yet to complete a single project despite having existed for over half a decade.
Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna revealed in February 2021 that the $35 billion bank was inactive despite the fact that in 2019 the bank claimed that it had 25 projects ready to be announced by early 2020.
Despite not completing any projects, in 2020 the infrastructure bank spent over $1.5 million worth of expenses for travel and publicity. The bank also spent two-thirds of its budget on paying staff.

Did Catherine McKenna break COVID rules while travelling to Nunavut? Rebel News lawyers investigate
https://www.rebelnews.com/did_Catherine_McKenna_disobey_covid_rules_while_travelling_to_nunavut_in_july_rebel_news_lawyers_investigate
Rebel News lawyers have sent letters to the Nunavut RCMP and Territorial Health Authority, asking for an investigation into Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna's July trip to the northern territory where she was seen disobeying public health orders.
According to the Territory of Nunavut, anyone travelling there must get authorization from Nunavut's Chief Public Health Officer, and quarantine for two weeks in self-isolation at approved hotels in Ottawa, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Yellowknife. Exemptions to the pre-entry quarantine must be obtained in advance.
Vaccinated travellers still have to follow all public health measures and wear a mask in public for the first 14 days and maintain social distance from others.
However, McKenna posted several pictures of herself to Twitter in which she was clearly ignoring the public health rules requiring her to social distance and wear a mask in public. She was flaunting how she was above the rules that even residents of the territory who return after receiving medical treatment are forced to follow.
Rules are for everyone or for no one. And the harshest lockdown advocates, seeking the strictest punishments for COVID scofflaws, are so often the biggest rule breakers.
We asked our lawyers to send two separate letters, one to the Health Department of Nunavut and another to the RCMP, laying out our evidence and asking for an investigation to be opened into the actions of the minister during her July 30, 2021 trip:
As you know, the Government of Nunavut has instituted requirements pertaining to Travel and Isolation for out-of-territory travellers arriving in Nunavut.
Pursuant to these COVID-19 travel restrictions and section 15 of Nunavut's Order respecting Social Distancing and Gatherings. All persons entering Nunavut who are exempt from the mandatory fourteen (14) day isolation period set out in the Order Restricting Travel to Nunavut must wear a mask while in a public place and at their place of work for the first fourteen (14) days following their arrival in Nunavut.
The Order defines a public place to include 'all outdoor areas within the boundary of a municipality in Nunavut.' In addition to the mask requirement, the Order further mandates that all exempt vaccinated travellers must adhere to all other public health measures, including social distancing.
Our client advises that despite these requirements, Minister McKenna does not appear to have adhered to the Order's mask requirement, or complied with social distancing protocols. Rather, they advise that she has been traveling around the territory, holding press conferences with the media and meeting with Canadians.
We don't need to imagine what the reaction would be if McKenna were a conservative. We all saw how the media and the Liberals (but I repeat myself) cheered when People's Party Leader Maxime Bernier was arrested for trying to go to Manitoba for a political rally against the lockdown. It's time for Liberals to play by the same rules they would use to punish you. That's the only way the oppressive rules change - when one of them gets in trouble for breaking them.

Trudeau insults Albertans by ignoring senator voting tradition, appoints his own Liberal senator
https://www.rebelnews.com/trudeau_insults_albertans_by_ignoring_senator_voting_tradition_appoints_his_own_liberal_senator
Another day, another Laurentian elite slap in the face to Albertans. The disrespect never ends.
Yesterday, Trudeau announced he was appointing a new senator. If you live in a different province, that might seem like a routine thing - having some leader in Ottawa choose who will represent you in the Senate with a gravy, high-paying patronage appointment, a thank you for being a loyal Liberal for basically the rest of their lives. But not here in Alberta.
Here, we choose our own senators. We have for decades. When we hold municipal elections, we elect our senators at the same time, based on the accepted convention and expectation that the prime minister will appoint who we chose for ourselves.
People put forward their names and usually run under a party banner. But Trudeau knows Albertans would never choose a Liberal senator, after all the Liberals have done to us - blocked pipelines, phased out our jobs, carbon taxed the industry they didn't kill, caused trade wars that hurt our farmers and grabbed our guns. So yesterday, Trudeau disregarded the will of the entire Alberta electorate. And appointed his own senator, even as we head to the polls to make our own choice in October.
Trudeau appointed the mayor of Banff, Karen Sorenson. And she was happy to take the $161,000 annual salary for the rest of her working life, plus top ups. She was fine to just steal that job from the person Albertans were going to choose, without an ounce of shame. Who does that? Except a Liberal in Alberta, I guess.
If Sorenson thought Albertans wanted her as a senator, why didn't she just put her name forward? She didn't, because she knew she'd lose. Easier to just steal the job I guess. How unethical. Oh, and we are all to believe she is an "independent senator." Look how independent she is in this photo with another quota appointment, disastrous infrastructure minister Catherine McKenna, most recently famous for losing track of 9,000 infrastructure projects.
And here she is gushing over getting a selfie with the sock model in the PMO.
Naturally, Premier Jason Kenney was outraged, issuing a statement that said, "the prime minister's decision to snub his nose at Alberta's democratic tradition is part of a pattern of flippantly disregarding our province's demands for fair deal in the Canadian federation and the desire of Albertans for democratic accountability."
We should not have been surprised by this, though. In 2018, Trudeau also appointed another so-called independent senator, former Edmonton Sun columnist Paula Simons, to the senate, overlooking the last one we Albertans elected, a man named Mike Shaikh. And just like Sorenson, Simons happily stole the job from the man we chose to do it, even after she had railed against the unaccountable unelected in the past. I guess she realized being a print journalist is a dead end sunset industry job. She spent the pandemic bragging about her ability to be a shut-in, and not leave the house. These people are so gross. Not even an apology to Shaikh after she stole his job and our votes.
And for being so-called independent, Simons sure likes to support the Liberal government against the will of Albertans, like with her support of pipeline killer C-69.
And this carries on the long standing Liberal tradition of disrespecting our choices. Jean Chrétien appointed Tommy Banks to the Senate instead of Bert Brown, the Reform candidate chosen by Albertans in 1998.
I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but if Trudeau were a plant put there by western separatists, would he be doing anything differently?

Mark Carney says climate commitments preclude running in fall election
https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/mark-carney-says-climate-commitments-preclude-running-in-fall-election/ar-AAMmIC6
OTTAWA - Mark Carney won't be on the Liberal ticket if there's an election this fall.
The former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England told The Canadian Press he's made commitments to help in the global fight against climate change and he can't walk away from them just a few months before a crucial United Nations conference.
"I thought long and hard on this because I believe strongly in public service ... and in the government's agenda, which I fully support," Carney said in an interview Tuesday.
"In the end, despite the temptation to running and the wrestling with it, a commitment's a commitment."
Carney is the UN special envoy on climate action and finance and also chairs the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, which aims to bring together banks and asset management firms worldwide to accelerate the transition to an economy based on net-zero carbon emissions.
His work will be crucial to the success of the UN climate conference, known as COP26, which is scheduled to run from Oct. 31 to Nov. 12 in Glasgow.
"It's a critical time in the COP26 process. I made commitments to the (UN) secretary-general and the U.K. prime minister to organize the private sector for net zero, for a net-zero economy and we have tremendous momentum and I don't want to break that momentum," Carney said.
"I think this is the best contribution I can make right now for Canada, arguably the world, but also for Canada because this matters. This matters hugely to us and this is something I can do, I'm in the middle of and I need to see it through."
This is a modal window. We're sorry, this video cannot be played from your current location.
Green party leader Annamie Paul says she wants to move forward after non-confidence vote scrapped
Carney did not rule out running for the Liberals at another time.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is widely expected to call an election for this fall. If he does, Carney said he wanted to put an end to rampant speculation that he would run in a riding in Ottawa, where he lives.
Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna announced last month she would not seek re-election in Ottawa Centre. Her surprise decision opened up some prime political real estate that could have become a launching pad for Carney.
There had also been speculation that Ottawa South MP David McGuinty or Kanata-Carleton MP Karen McCrimmon might step aside to open up their Liberal ridings for Carney.
Carney promised in April, during his political debut at the Liberal party's virtual convention, to do whatever he can to support the party.
His name has been bandied about as a potential Liberal leader for at least 10 years.
While he was still Bank of Canada governor in 2012, Carney quietly flirted with the idea of a leadership run, courted by Liberals desperately searching for a new saviour after the 2011 election flame-out.
But amid criticism that even the smallest whiff of partisanship was undermining the independence crucial to a central banker, Carney eventually squelched the speculation by saying he'd just as soon become a "circus clown." He left Canada shortly thereafter to take over the helm of the Bank of England.
He returned to Canada last summer and earlier this year released a book promoting his vision for a new kind of capitalism that combines the pursuit of profit with social purpose.
This report by The Canadian Press was first published July 20, 2021.

Trudeau and B.C. Premier continue ignoring religious persecution of Christians
https://www.rebelnews.com/trudeau_and_bc_premier_ignore_religious_persecution_of_christians_again
As speculation surrounding a potential fall election continues, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a second appearance in British Columbia last Friday.
Trudeau's appearance at Surrey City Hall, alongside Premier John Horgan, Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna and other politicians, was planned to announce a $1.3 billion plan to expand the city's SkyTrain line through to the city of Langley.
The campaign-worthy promise wasn't just a great opportunity to cook up some political brownie points. It also allowed me to give both the provincial and federal leader another chance to condemn the religious persecution of Christians occurring in Canada right now, resulting in over 20 churches being destroyed or defaced in less than one month.
The first time I asked Trudeau why he's refused to label the burning and vandalizing of churches as acts of hate, one of his RCMP goons physically tossed me aside so Trudeau could take a selfie instead of answer me. So it should be of no surprise to you that there were attempts to prevent Rebel News from attending the announcement, and that despite being one of the first journalists at the microphone, I was not hand-picked to officially ask this important question.
But I asked anyways.
In this report, you'll see how Trudeau and Horgan chose to once again ignore the hateful persecution of Christians in Canada. You'll also hear from some of the many protesters that were there to call both politicians out for how they've failed as leaders.

UN conference to demand more aggressive climate action from countries
https://tnc.news/2021/06/17/un-conference-to-demand-more-aggressive-climate-action-from-countries/
As the United Nations gears up for its massive COP26 climate summit in Glasgow this fall, the event's chair is calling for more "ambitious" emissions reductions plans from national governments.
At a virtual press conference marking the end of a UN Climate Change conference Thursday afternoon, COP26 president Alok Sharma said it's clear there's "much further to go" when it comes to national climate change policies.
"We must use the full weight of some of the world's major economies to push down global emissions so that we are able to keep 1.5 degrees alive," Sharma said.
The Paris climate agreement reached at the end of COP21 in 2015 set a target for limiting global warming to less than two degrees celsius above pre-industrial levels by 2100, while "pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C."
Countries could not agree during negotiations to a hard 1.5 degree Celsius target, hence the softer language. Canada's then-environment minister Catherine McKenna was among those pushing for the more aggressive 1.5 degree goal.
It seems the goalposts for the upcoming summit have been firmly planted at 1.5 degrees, with Sharma calling it "vital to the very many millions of people around the world who are facing the challenge of climate change head on."
COP26 will bring tens of thousands of delegates from governments and non-governmental organizations to Scotland in November to finalize the rules of the Paris Agreement and "accelerate action to tackle the climate crisis." The summit was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure it could be held in-person and not virtually.
Among the conference's goals is to get firm emission reduction commitments from countries through a range of measures, including pivoting to renewable energy and switching to electric vehicles.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau used Canada's endorsement of the Paris Agreement as justification to impose a national carbon tax in 2018, and steadily increase the tax over subsequent years.
In April, Trudeau hiked the Canadian government's emissions reduction target to 40% to 45% below 2005 levels by 2030, a goal Trudeau said amounted to Canada's "highest possible ambition in light of its current national circumstances."
Despite this, Canada's emissions have increased since signing the Paris Agreement, and have stayed relatively flat per capita.
Canada accounts for just 1.6% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
In its emphasis on the 1.5 degree Celsius target, COP26 is pushing states beyond the Paris Agreement, which the United Nations now says is inadequate to tackle climate change.
A UN report published earlier this year said global carbon dioxide emissions must decline by 45% from their 2010 levels by 2030 to meet the 1.5 degree, or by 25% to meet the 2 degree target.
While 196 countries signed the Paris Agreement, the UN report found these countries' combined impacts are on track to cut emissions by just 1%.

We're suing Catherine McKenna and Steven Guilbeault!
https://www.rebelnews.com/were_suing_Catherine_McKenna_and_steven_guilbeault
Any conceivable activity regulated by the government comes with a set of rules. Whether you agree or disagree, the rules are something important that you should know. Being able to access the official government channels where those rules are discussed is an important part of keeping informed on ever-changing rules.
In the media business, with news of impending online censorship being proposed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government, staying up-to-date on these rules is crucial.
And yet, Rebel News boss Ezra Levant is blocked from following the official government account of Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault. Chief reporter Sheila Gunn Reid is blocked from following the official government account of former environment minister, current Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna.
On yesterday's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Ezra laid out the Rebel News lawsuit against Liberal Party cabinet ministers Catherine McKenna and Steven Guilbeault.
Citing those threats of censorship - including the possibility for the banning of certain websites in Canada - Ezra explained why he needs to pay close attention to the public statements made by Guilbeault through his Twitter account:
So wouldn't you say I have to pay pretty close attention to this guy? But I can't, because he has blocked me - banned me. I can't go there [to his Twitter page].
When you go to his Twitter account, you see this [his public profile]. But when I go there, I see this [Steven Guilbeault has blocked you]. Even though he specifically says it's a government account.
I guess I have to pay for it through my taxes, I just can't read the news. But just me.
Sorry, if it was his personal account that's fine, I don't care. If it was his family account - like a Facebook page where he shares his home movies or of his dogs or whatever - that's fine.
But I'm talking about his government account. Which means it's not really his account, is it? It's ours, it's for all Canadian taxpayers, really. And all people he seeks to regulate and censor. So I have an interest in learning what he plans to do as a minister, but I also have the right to clapback at him online, because, of course, he's a bit of a bully himself.

McKenna promises to "do a better job" following scathing auditor general report
https://tnc.news/2021/04/27/McKenna-promises-to-do-a-better-job-following-scathing-auditor-general-report/
Infrastructure Minister Catherine McKenna is promising more accountability after the auditor general found her department continuously failed to meet its goals.
Speaking to the House of Commons transport committee, McKenna said the department needs to "do a better job of explaining" following the condemnations from the auditor general.
"We need to fix this. That's something I am committed to because we obviously need to get a full accounting," she said.
"Let's be one hundred percent clear. We have lost no projects. We have tracked all the projects."
In March, Auditor General Karen Hogan published a report slamming the government's $188 billion Investing in Canada Plan, warning that goals were not being met, progress was not being reported and funding was going unspent.
"The absence of clear and complete reporting on the Investing in Canada Plan makes it difficult for parliamentarians and Canadians to know whether progress is being made against the intended objectives," Hogan wrote.
Earlier in the month, Parliamentary Budget Officer Yves Giroux told the transport committee that McKenna's department is not able to provide documentation for 9000 separate infrastructure projects.
Conservative Infrastructure critic Andrew Scheer said the government's infrastructure department "is in shambles."
"This is unacceptable. It is up to Justin Trudeau and his ministers to ensure their departments are functioning. How did they lose 9,000 projects?" said Scheer in a statement.
In the face of criticism from Hogan and the transport committee, McKenna defended her department, claiming they have accurate information on infrastructure projects but they have done a poor job communicating it.
"We have provided the information on all the projects," said McKenna.
McKenna has also been criticized for her department's handling of many projects under the Canada Infrastructure Bank.
The Canada Infrastructure Bank, which has yet to complete a project since being created by the Liberals four years ago, recently failed to invite the public to its annual public meeting, leading to more accusations of unaccountability.

Q Research Canada #1: Lets make The True North Strong and Free Again

Of course, the energy sector's tax dollars are good enough to be used against them, extending generous grants and subsidies to the politically-connected green industry. Why? To appease the globalists who are using the religion of global warming to control populations.
But Canadians are no longer sitting idly by. They're mad as hell and are sending clear signals that they're not going to take it anymore.
Polite No More
In December, a convoy of trucks in Grand Prairie, Alberta "touched its tail" as it rallied in the city impacted by several government policies, including the carbon tax, Bill C-48, and Bill C-69. While the carbon tax is terrifying for all Canadians, C-48 and C-69 mainly target energy; the former prohibits oil tanker traffic on British Columbia's northern coast and the latter dramatically transforms the process of environmental assessments for every major infrastructure project, including the ever-important trans-province energy project proposals.
The protests against the levy and Bills C-48 and C-69 are only intensifying. Another Alberta-based convoy of trucks is taking its frustrations to Ottawa next month.
?"We want to make our voices heard," James Robson, the grassroots Canada Action manager, told The Star. "Families are supported by the energy sector. It's one of the most important economic drivers in Canada."
The Trudeau government seems indifferent to the growing opposition to carbon taxes and punishing legislative blitzkrieg. This should not come as a surprise. Energy Minister Catherine McKenna, also known as Climate Barbie, encouraged a grain farmer to just adopt artificial intelligence to combat the costs of the carbon tax.
It is this level of arrogance that puts Trudeau and his minions out of touch with typical Canadians.
The Forgotten Man's Resurgence
Is Canada igniting another Tea Party, Arab Spring, or Yellow Vest movement?
Perhaps the modesty of your average Canadian will never concede to something so iconic, instead preferring to just have their voices heard by the central planners who think they're better than someone from rural Alberta or the Maritimes. Canada's thought police and gatekeepers of permissible opinion are warning about the dangers of populism, but if they wish to quash its inevitable ascent to mainstream politics, they should quit treating voters not from Toronto, Vancouver, or Ottawa either like they don't exist or as if they're children riding the short bus.
