Steinberg was a senior researcher at the firm, the world's largest hedge fund.

Costa Rican authorities say strong winds or mechanical failure are likely causes.

Bridgewater Associates senior researcher Bruce Steinberg and his family were among 12 who died in a plane crash in Costa Rica on Sunday.

Bridgewater founder Ray Dalio noted the loss on his Facebook page, calling Steinberg a "wonderful man."

"Right now, we are each processing this devastating tragedy in our own ways," Dalio wrote. "At this time I will be devoting my attentions to doing this and helping others."

Steinberg, his wife, Irene, their sons Matthew (14), William (19), and Zachary (20), along with another American family of four, an American tour guide, and two local pilots all died in the crash, leaving no survivors.

The families had taken a charter flight on a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan that crashed in a wooded area off the beach town of Punta Islita just minutes after takeoff, Costa Rican authorities told Reuters. The Journal News reported the flight was en route to Costa Rica's capital, San Jose, where the Steinbergs had planned to celebrate the new year.

The US State Department and Costa Rican authorities are investigating the crash.

Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation agency deputy director Michael Soto told the Associated Press that "No possibility can be left out for certain," but that the two most likely causes are inclement weather or mechanical failure. Costa Rican authorities told the AP that there were strong winds during the time of the crash.

The Steinberg family lived in Scarsdale, New York, and were philanthropists and prominent members of their local Jewish community.

"They were wonderful people. We need a whole world of people like them," Steinberg's mother Diane told the New York Daily News.

Theory is there are 2 debt cycles– short-term (drives recessions) and long-term is an accumulative debt cycles (i.e. a debt super cycle is over 75 yr period w/ a marker of hitting 0 interest rates w/ 1929 crash being the marker of last debt super cycle). Finance Fag here, problem w/ his theory is that there was not widespread access to consumer or corporate debt products in the lead up to the 1929 crash. From the outset, it seems like another fatal tragedy, especially since o family members are involved - and it is. However, on a closer look at the connection to something huge, with even bigger ramifications for the powerful, it seems that perhaps there was a sinister motive involved. It looks like the "Clinton curse" may have struck again. This particular family reportedly has a direct connection to the United Nations and the Clinton Foundation. Steinberg reportedly worked with the Clinton Foundation in the Clinton Library.
Bloomberg continues: Steinberg, 50, was a senior member of Bridgewater's research team, according to a company spokeswoman. Prior to joining the hedge fund, he had worked at several banks including UBS AG, Royal Bank of Scotland Plc and Credit Suisse Group AG, Finra records show.

Who is Bruce Steinberg?

Or should I say, who was Bruce Steinberg? Bruce Steinberg and his entire family perished in fiery plane crash in Costa Rica that killed ten people.

Steinberg was also an executive at Bridgewater Associates, a company which, as Politico is reporting that James Comey spent three years as an executive employed by Bridgewater.

Bridgewater Associates is a $150 billion hedge fund founded by Ray Dalio that the New Yorker has labeled "the world's richest and strangest hedge fund", as The New Yorker reported back in June of 2016.

Ray Dalio was a key Clinton supporter and was staunchly opposed to Donald Trump. The Clinton's were fighting rumors that they were involved Bridgewater's more nefarious activities along with James Comey. And now the link between Bridgewater and the Clintons is dead along with his entire family.

This is reminiscent of so many other Clinton deals gone bad (ie Whitewater) and the trail of bodies that follows a Clinton-inspired financial fiasco

And how could Cousins have been a threat to the Clintons? Deciding what to put into the Presidential Library is an arduous task. This task would have put Cousins in possession of some potentially damning information about the Clinton's crminal activities
