PM confirms 'Five Eyes' conference in Queenstown

Prime Minister Bill English has confirmed a meeting of the 'Five Eyes' intelligence group is being held in New Zealand this week.

The meeting of intelligence leaders from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand is being held in Arrowtown.

There has been increased security in Queenstown and a private jet that has been linked to the American CIA landed at Wellington Airport on Friday.

Among those understood to be attending are the FBI director James Comey and the CIA director Mike Pompeo.

Mr English told Morning Report that Chris Finlayson, the Minister responsible for the SIS and the GCSB, was attending the conference.

"One of the regular conferences that they have, we work with the other four countries, combating terrorism, protecting our citizens around the world. So it's an arrangement that works well for New Zealand."

Mr English will attend a dinner at the conference.

He declined to say what specific issues were on the agenda.

The hearing heard testimony from former CIA analyst Peter Mattis who said the Chinese Communist Party had worked "very close to or inside the political core" of Australia and New Zealand and "one of the major fundraisers for Jacinda Ardern's party has United Front links".

CIA Director Mike Pompeo and FBI Director James Comey may be attending a secret Five Eyes spy meeting in New Zealand

(VERO BEACH, FL) The highly secretive meeting is being held in Queenstown, NZ this coming weekend and is believed to include representatives from 15 intelligence agencies which carry out spying for the Five Eyes network.

Five Eyes is a spying partnership between the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

On Wednesday a spokesman for New Zealand Prime Minister Bill English confirmed that a number of senior intelligence officials were coming to Queenstown for a government hosted conference, but did not reveal the meetings agenda.

"Due to specific security requirements we cannot comment further at this time,” English said. “However, as police have pointed out they are not aware of a visit to Queenstown by a current or former head of state."

According to the NZ Herald, a local newspaper, FBI Director James Comey and CIA Director Mike Pompeo are believed to attending the gathering, along with New Zealand’s Minister for the Government Communications and Security Bureau (GCSB) and Security Intelligence Service (SIS) Chris Finlayson’s.

High profile spy gatherings are usually kept secret, and New Zealand has often been picked as a destination spot for such conferences.

In 2016, former New Zealand Prime Minister John Key disclosed that Obama’s ODNI chief Jim Clapper had visited on his way to Australia for an official Five eyes conference.

If the rumors are true, this would not be the first visit by FBI Director James Comey to New Zealand. In March 2016 he made a stop in the reclusive destination to meet with Kiwi spy chief Chris Finlayson and Police Commissioner Mike Bush.

Kim Dotcom, the founder of Megaupload.com, who the U.S. has long sought to extradite on charges of criminal copyright infringement, money laundering, and wire fraud, chimed in on the alleged spy chief get-together, jokingly tweeting, “the 5 eyed spy monster that fails to keep its secrets secret.”

TRUNEWS correspondent asked Kim Dotcom, who has been known for funny stunts to promote internet freedom, if he plans to crash the secretive conference in Queensland.

Today's New Zealand Herald article, talking about PIZZA, is just weird. Why is this a story? Of course, it isn't. But New Zealand is a haven for the Cabal, so I immediately start wondering. In fact, I can't help feeling like this whole random news story is some kind of CODE. For something. Bear with me.

The article is about former Prime Minister of New Zealand Bill English and his love of a specialty Hawaiian pizza: one that is topped with spaghetti as well as ham and pineapple.

The article states: "Taking to Facebook, English, also formerly the country's finance minister, shared pizza chain Domino's' post about officially adding a Hawaiian spaghetti pizza to its menu, voicing his support. English wrote: "We did it New Zealand. Overseas, they said it couldn't be done. But the proof is in the pineapple."

Okay…

So the origins of spaghetti on pizza are supposed to be from New Zealand? Maybe. But this article is still all a bit...random. Or is it? I must say, the PINEAPPLE reference recalls for me the pictures of Chrissy Teigan dressing her child up as a pineapple. And then it all starts to sounds like code. Pizza is not news. It's just not. Unless you're talking about THAT kind of "pizza."

And this is a weird thing to say-the NZ Herald quotes the former prime-minister who is supposedly quoting his young child: "My youngest said, 'started from the bottom of our oven now it's here' - Spaghetti-Pineapple pizza to order." What does that mean? Kids don't say that.

The ex-PM goes on to say, quote: "Nothing beats home-made cooking with the family. It might be missing some of my key ingredients." Which suddenly makes me wonder...IF this is code, then this odd choice of words might be referencing '''JOHN KEY''', the former NZ Prime Minister who English replaced following John Key's abrupt resignation, which was oh-so "coincidentally" timed right after Trump's "shock election." We have to wonder what Q Team has on John Key. Don't forget John Key is a good friend of Obama's and they golf together. In fact, Key went off golfing IN HAWAII with Obama IMMEDIATELY after Key's resignation. So now we have the "pizza reference," the "Hawaii" reference and the "key" reference in this article. That's too many coincidences for my liking.

in any event, I'd hate to know what that "key ingredient" might otherwise be. He doesn't elaborate.

The hack and release on WikiLeaks was believed to be a major factor in Ms Clinton's loss to current president Donald Trump.

"Vladimir Putin must be sitting in the Kremlin saying this is the best return on investment I ever got - I've got a pliant president of the United States," Mr Podesta says.

New Zealand's top spies warned Parliament last month that our election is also vulnerable to attack, and Mr Podesta agrees.

"I'd say very worried," he told Newshub. "I don't see why they couldn't do it. And there are other state actors as well."

At the top of that list is China.

"There are other actors in the region including China that may have a high degree of interest in being able to penetrate what the private conversations of people in NZ politics and NZ Government are looking at," Mr Podesta says.

New Zealand is a member of the Five Eyes spy network, a powerful intelligence club made up of the US, UK, Canada, Australia and us.

He says we're a "juicier target", and should guard against hacked information being weaponised as fake news.

"What's new is this weaponisation - the use of social media to spread discord, lies, dissatisfaction - that's I think what you've got to look out for," he says.

Mr Podesta played a starring role in one of the great conspiracy theories of the election - his hacked emails included an exchange about a Washington DC pizza joint called Comet Ping Pong.

"[The rumours were] that HC and I were running a child porn ring, which had no basis in anything, but a guy showed up with a gun and ended up shooting up a pizza parlour," he says.

This is a cautionary tale from someone who understands too well the influence and damage hacking and fake news can do.

New Zealand is not exempt - and Newshub understands it's something the Prime Minister is seriously concerned about.

Top U.S. intelligence officials, including CIA Director Mike Pompeo and FBI Director James Comey are reportedly heading to New Zealand this weekend for a secret gathering of the Five Eyes spying alliance, according to a report.

The New Zealand Herald reported that it has learned that 15 intelligence-related agencies, including the heads of the CIA and FBI, will be in attendance.

A spokesman for New Zealand Prime Minister Bill English confirmed that senior officials are convening in Queenland for a conference, but did not confirm whether it was a meeting of the intelligence alliance that comprises the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

"Due to specific security requirements we cannot comment further at this time. However, as police have pointed out they are not aware of a visit to Queenstown by a current or former head of state," the spokesman said.

Spokespeople for the CIA and FBI would not comment on their directors' upcoming schedules.

It was reported Wednesday that the CIA and the FBI are launching a joint probe into a federal employee possible behind the theft of documents on the CIA hacking program that have been published by WikiLeaks in recent weeks. During a speech last week, Pompeo assailed WikiLeaks as a "non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors like Russia."

Though details on the meeting are sparse, it isn't all that out of the ordinary for the Five Eyes alliance to meet. Former Prime Minister John Key let slip last year that then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper passed through Australia on his way to a Five Eyes meeting.

Rumors about the conference have been swirling for some time, including speculation that former President Obama could be attending, according to local reports.

The conference in New Zealand comes just after President Trump announced his nominee for U.S. ambassador to the island nation, former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown.

Let's not forget former PM Ms Helen Clark (Ms Ardern's mentor) who became an administrator of the United Nations Development Program (Haiti!) and ran for the top job of UN Secretary General. Her latest book 'Women, Equality, Power.' is basically a HRC "Why I Lost' type blaming the UN for not wanting a 'strong woman' in charge. Of course it couldn't possibly be payback for how she'd continued to do what she'd always done in NZ Parliament and sent her ruthless 'woman in grey' permanent sidekick and enforcer Heather Simpson to kneecap any opposition, colleges or dissenters to her personal agenda. Ms Jacinda Ardern is a socialist ideologue like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and while very dangerous she's nothing compared to Ms Clark who's a very practical socialist. This makes her infinitely more worrisome as she's returned to NZ to 'oversee' her protégé' and is constantly meddling in NZ affairs. Like Hussein she can't stand the thought of losing personal power.

There are times that I truly feel that NZ needs to suffer the fate of Venezuela so that we never go there again, but of course this is the 'time of the endgame'. Technology is so great that there'd be no more second chances. We either Win or we Lose forever.

I very much hope that they're tagged as Cabal Enemy Combatants and that there's tiny wee cells waiting for them all in Gitmo, or even the secondary prison that's been built. I'd prefer Gitmo though.

The New Zealand government's relationship with China has come under the spotlight after a former CIA analyst in the US said the nation's participation in the Five Eyes intelligence alliance needs to be reconsidered.

Giving testimony to the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission , Peter Mattis said Jacinda Ardern's Labour party had accepted money from donors with links to the Chinese Communist party, while former prime minister Bill English had routinely briefed a National MP who was revealed to have worked at an institution that trained Chinese spies.

Nigel Haworth, the Labour party president, said he had no idea "what or to whom" the Mattis testimony was referring, and all political donations to Labour were above board and complied with the Electoral Act.

The National leader, Simon Bridges, said it was "completely false" that former prime minister and National leader English routinely shared information.

China expert Prof Anne-Marie Brady from the University of Canterbury has frequently warned of growing Chinese influence in New Zealand, a message echoed by Hillary Clinton on a recent trip to the country, saying New Zealand needed to take the threat "seriously".

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Former New Zealand Prime Minister Bill English said he will resign from parliament at the end of February, months after the National Party lost office despite winning more seats than any other party in last year's election.

English was finance minister from 2008 in John Key's National government, and became prime minister after Key stepped down from office in late 2016.

English led the National Party into last September's election, where it fell five seats short of a majority. After protracted negotiations lasting nearly a month, Labour leader Jacinda Ardern struck a deal with the smaller NZ First party to form government.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Ardern paid tribute to her predecessor's political career, which began in 1990. English was also leader of the Nationals in 2002 when the party recorded its worst ever election defeat.

"Bill has made a huge contribution through his time in office and to politics generally," Ardern said on Twitter. "I admire those who serve NZ in this place, and Bill did for a long time, and he did it well."

English made world headlines last year when he posted pictures on Facebook of a dinner he made for his family - pizza topped with tinned spaghetti and pineapple. His unorthodox tastes led U.S. talk show host Jimmy Kimmel to urge New Zealanders to "impeach that man immediately!"

English said his resignation would take effect on Feb. 27. While he would not comment on potential successors to lead the National Party, he said his departure now would give the party time to find a new leader to take them to the 2020 national election.
