Sudan's Military Council Retires Defence Chief, Envoys to US and Switzerland
Sudan's military council announced a number of measures in reforming the country after the Sudanese army ousted President Omar Bashir, who had ruled the country for 30 years, amid months-long anti-government protests.
Sudan's military council announced a number of measures for reforming the country. In particular, they stated that they would form a committee to take over the former governing party's assets. The council has also promised to release all army and police officers who participated in the protests.
Moreover, the council has refused to participate in the country's transitional government, explaining that they should wait for elections.
They have also declared that they have restructured the country's intelligence and security service, appointing General Abu Bakr as the new intelligence head. Apart from this, the council stated that they had retired the country's Defence Minister Awad Ibn Auf, as well as the ambassadors to Washington and Geneva.
Earlier in the day, the Central Bank of Sudan on Sunday froze accounts of all government bodies, dissolved by the country's newly established ruling transitional military council, the bank said in a statement.
"Based on the decision of the military council, we decided to freeze all accounts of government bodies dissolved by the council [the parliament, presidential office, state authorities and so on]" the statement obtained by Sputnik said.
Prior to that, the deputy head of the Sudanese transitional military council, Mohamed Hamdan Daqlu, held a meeting with US charge d'affaires ad interim in Khartoum Steven Koutsis at the presidential palace, according to the council's statement, obtained by Sputnik.
During the meeting, Daqlu briefed the US diplomat on the situation in the country and the reasons for the establishment of the transitional council. The deputy head of the council also discussed with Koutsis what steps could be taken to ensure security and stability in Sudan.
"The charge d'affaires ad interim, in turn, has welcomed the role of the military council in establishing stability and assured [the council's deputy head] of the need to continue cooperation between the two parties", the statement added.

Sudan's intelligence chief quits, protesters keep up pressure
KHARTOUM (Reuters) - Sudan's security and intelligence chief quit on Saturday, state media reported, a day after the defense minister stepped down abruptly as interim leader following the overthrow of President Omar al-Bashir and protesters kept up demands for change.
Salah Abdallah Mohamed Saleh, known as Salah Gosh, who headed the National Intelligence and Security Service and was once the most influential person in the country after Bashir, was held responsible by protesters for the killing of demonstrators demanding an end to military rule.
Defense Minister Awad Ibn Auf stepped down as head of the transitional military council late on Friday after only a day in the post, as protesters demanded faster political change.
The new head of the military council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan Abdelrahman, accepted Gosh's resignation, state news agency SUNA said on Saturday.
Burhan is a military commander believed to be more ready to talk to the protesters.
He was the third most senior general in the Sudanese armed forces and is little known in public life. As head of Sudan's ground forces he oversaw Sudanese troops fighting in the Saudi-led Yemen war and has close ties to senior Gulf military officials.
Celebrations erupted on the streets of Khartoum overnight following Ibn Auf's resignation. Thousands of protesters waved flags and illuminated mobile phones in the darkness and drivers hooted car horns. People chanted: "The second has fallen!" a reference to Ibn Auf and Bashir, witnesses said.
The Sudanese Professionals Association (SPA), which has been leading protests to demand a civilian government, called for more demonstrations on Saturday.

Well, Mr Clark I'm here to tell you that the plan for 7 countries in 5 years has taken more like 12 years to accomplish, most recently Sudan, now that was fun, rather than drag out long and costly war, we're becoming proficient in the art of the coup, so be rest assured that that plan for the Greater Israel project is back on schedule and the rebuild of the temple is imminent.

Sudan's military overthrows president following months of popular protests
-KHARTOUM, Sudan - Sudan's defense minister said Thursday that President Omar al-Bashir had been taken into military custody, effectively announcing a military coup to end his 30-year rule.
-A two-year transition government administered by the military would take over, the constitution would be suspended, and a three-month state of emergency would be put in place, he added.
Sudan's state media also reported that all political prisoners, including leaders of the protests that precipitated Bashir's fall, were in the process of being released from jails around the country.
-The announcement by Awad Ibn Auf, who is also Sudan's vice president, came after four months of nationwide street protests sparked by price hikes on basic goods but also reflecting a deep-rooted desire for the replacement of his decades-old regime. Bashir is accused of committing crimes against humanity and genocide in Sudan's Darfur region and has been indicted by the International Criminal Court.
-The details of the apparent coup were unclear as was the future of a massive sit-in protest in the capital Khartoum, but Ibn Auf's announcement included a curfew from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., which amounts to an order the sit-in disband.
-Hundreds of thousands of Sudanese reveled in Khartoum's streets this week, singing, dancing, and waving banners imprinted with hopeful slogans calling for the rebuilding of their country. The protests were initially organized by the Sudanese Professionals Association, a group that drew many doctors, lawyers and students. By this week, a significant chunk of Khartoum's population of around 2 million had joined.
-The protesters' demands included the creation of a civilian government and justice for protesters who had been killed. But many said Thursday that their hope was transformed into disappointment and anger by Ibn Auf's speech
