"A Secret Service agent on Vice President Kamala Harris' security detail has been removed from their assignment for behavioral issues, including reportedly acting aggressive with other agents.
According to a report, Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi confirmed the agent's removal from the detail but declined to elaborate on the agent's actions.
"At approximately 9 a.m. April 22, a U.S. Secret Service special agent supporting the Vice President's departure from Joint Base Andrews began displaying behavior their colleagues found distressing. The agent was removed from their assignment while medical personnel were summoned," he said in the statement."

Secret Service agent assigned to Kamala Harris detail involved in fight with other agents
An armed U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President Kamala Harris's protective detail fought unarmed with other detail agents on Monday morning.
The incident occurred at the Washington, D.C.-area Andrews Air Force Base, before Harris arrived, and after the agent suffered what the Secret Service has characterized as a medical incident. The Washington Examiner is aware of the agent's name and specific detail responsibilities but is withholding those details for privacy reasons.
The Washington Examiner understands that the agent became aggressive with other agents. When the special agent in charge and a detail shift supervisor attempted to calm the agent, a physical altercation ensued. The agent was handcuffed before being withdrawn from service for medical assessment. Harris was scheduled to arrive at Andrews Air Force Base after the incident.
In a statement, Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi told the Washington Examiner, "At approximately 9 a.m. April 22, a U.S. Secret Service special agent supporting the Vice President's departure from Joint Base Andrews began displaying behavior their colleagues found distressing. The agent was removed from their assignment while medical personnel were summoned. The Vice President was at the Naval Observatory when this incident occurred and there was no impact on her departure from Joint Base Andrews. The U.S. Secret Service takes the safety and health of our employees very seriously. As this was a medical matter, we will not disclose any further details."
All Secret Service agents are armed while on domestic protective duty. But as with their Diplomatic Security Service counterparts, agents assigned to protective details endure heavy travel burdens, often working long hours away from home. The psychological health of armed agents serving in very close proximity to high-ranking government officials and foreign heads of state is thus a high-priority concern for the Secret Service.
Moreover, the Vice Presidential Protective Division is widely regarded within the Secret Service as the second most prestigious assignment after the Presidential Protective Division. Because of the continuity of government protocols, VPD agents are party to exceptionally sensitive planning on responses to nuclear war and catastrophic terrorist attacks or environmental disasters. Agents must serve in field offices for a minimum of three years and receive excellent performance reports before going to VPD. They must also then pass the intensive Protective Detail Training course at the Secret Service's James J. Rowley training facility in the DC suburbs.
The Washington Examiner is unaware of the agent's current status. The Vice President's office did not respond to a request for comment.

Two arrested in break-in of Secret Service vehicle outside Naomi Biden's DC home
Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the break-in of a Secret Service vehicle parked outside the Washington, DC, home of President Biden's granddaughter, according to court documents and the federal law enforcement agency.
Robert Kemp, 19, and an unnamed juvenile were taken into custody earlier this month after a Secret Service investigation into the November 2023 incident in DC's tony Georgetown neighborhood, where Naomi Biden lives and receives Secret Service protection.
Kemp was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and theft from auto, according to the Secret Service.
However, court filings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia only list the unauthorized use of a vehicle charge - related to a stolen Toyota Corolla used as the getaway car - being brought against Kemp, who was released the day after his Feb. 7 arrest.
The Secret Service says Kemp made off with at least $1,000 in gear from a black Ford Expedition "used for members of the first family" during the brazen heist, including a police vest, night vision goggles, a portable router and chemical sticks, according to an affidavit.

Secret Service agents protecting Biden's granddaughter open fire after 3 people try to break into SUV
Secret Service agents assigned to defend President Biden's granddaughter opened fire late Sunday on a group of people attempting to break into an unmarked Secret Service car, officials said.
Agents protecting the 29-year-old lawyer's home in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington caught three people attempting to break into a parked, unmarked Secret Service vehicle.
"[A]round 11:58 p.m. ... Secret Service agents encountered possibly three individuals breaking a window on a parked and unoccupied government vehicle," Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.
"During this encounter, a federal agent discharged a service weapon and it is believed no one was struck," Guglielmi said.
"The offenders immediately fled the scene in a red vehicle and a regional lookout was issued to supporting units. There was no threat to any protectees and the incident is being investigated by the DC Metropolitan Police Department and the Secret Service."
A neighbor of the first granddaughter told The Post that they took a walk by the site around 11 p.m. - roughly an hour before the encounter - and that the street was "dead" without anyone outside in the chilly weather.
The Secret Service, which has dedicated parking spots, monitors the block from a unit near Naomi's and "would have noticed it happening because it was so dead," the neighbor said.
The DC Police Department said in a late Monday press release that agents from its Force Investigation Team were probing the agent-involved shooting, along with an independent review by the DC US Attorney's Office.
The Secret Service reportedly put out a regional bulletin to the police to be on the lookout for the suspects' vehicle.
The nation's capital has seen a drastic rise in carjackings and car thefts this year. In the past year, police have received reports of more than 750 carjackings and over 6,000 stolen vehicles.
The issue has become so pervasive that even lawmakers have been impacted. Last month, US Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) was carjacked at gunpoint near the Capitol by three armed assailants.
Meanwhile, the District's police department has issued a series of drastic recommendations to would-be motorists in the hope of preventing more crimes - including "ALWAYS keep your doors locked and windows rolled up," "drive in the center lane to make it harder for carjackers to approach," "avoid driving alone," and "don't stop to assist a stranger whose car has broken down."
Naomi, Hunter Biden's eldest daughter, got married in the White House last fall after living there with the president in the runup to her big day.
Previously, she lived in a luxury apartment building boasting a rare direct view of the executive mansion and other DC landmarks from its rooftop.
She moved to Georgetown after a honeymoon in the Seychelles.
Naomi recently made headlines following reports that she allegedly vandalized the US Capitol in 2011 as a Senate page - and that as an adult she worked for the government of Peru, despite the corruption allegations against the president for his links to foreign ventures of Naomi's father and great-uncle James.

Did you burn the turkey Joe? Fire engine races to $34 million Nantucket home where the Bidens are staying as first family prepares for Thanksgiving
By Emily Goodin, Senior U.S. Political Reporter On Nantucket 09:00 EST 23 Nov 2023
A fire truck was dispatched to the $34 million Nantucket home where President Joe Bidenand his family are staying for Thanksgiving.
The Nantucket Fire Department raced to the 13-acre compound on Abrams Point around 11:23 pm Wednesday evening, according to local reports.
The Secret Service said it was a 'false alarm.' (It was just a crack pipe. Kek)
'There was a false alarm triggered and fire personnel cancelled the call and returned to the station. Fire department did not respond to the Secret Service site and there was no fire or incident requiring a fire service response,' Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told DailyMail.com.
The first family arrived in Nantucket on Tuesday evening and are staying at David Rubenstein's waterfront compound throughout the Thanksgiving holiday.
Several family members have already been out shopping in the downtown area. President Biden and first lady Jill Biden are scheduled to call the troops on Thursday before they sit down to their Thanksgiving meal.
'After the initial report, the dispatcher told the NFD personnel to call the station via cell phone and minutes later the engine crew announced a "false alarm" over the radio and returned to the fire station,' the Nantucket Current noted.
The 13,000 square foot house is full of Bidens.
Joe and Jill's son Hunter and daughter Ashley are staying there as are a majority of their grandchildren: Naomi Biden and her husband Peter Neal, Finnegan, Maisy, Natalie, Little Hunter and Baby Beau.
A majority of the family braved the windy, rainy weather for coffee, smoothies and gifts on Wednesday.
Several members of the clan pushed their way through the wind - gusts blew up to 50 miles per hour - to walk the cobblestone streets of the downtown area as shown in exclusive pictures taken by DailyMail.com.
Hunter even posed for a photo with a group of teenagers who asked for one and was spotted buying a pair of slippers in CraftMasters of Nantucket. It was unclear if they were for him or a gift for his father - the president has shopped in CraftMasters during past Nantucket trips. The Biden family was scheduled to celebrate President Biden's 81st birthday on Wednesday, complete with coconut cake.
Hunter also enjoyed smoothies with Maisy, his daughter from his first marriage, and Little Hunt, the late Beau Biden's son.
Meanwhile, Naomi Biden, along with her cousin Natalie and husband Peter Neal, started their Thanksgiving vacation with a workout and coffee run.
The trio was spotted walking out of Hub Coffee shop, wearing gym gear and appearing sweaty.
The shop offers New York style bagels and smoothies along with a variety of coffee options.
And Ashley Biden, the president's daughter, took a selfie with her niece Natalie and Peter Neal.
While on the island, the Bidens are staying at Rubenstein's $34 million 13-acre compound on Nantucket Harbor.
Biden has previously stayed at Rubenstein's place on Nantucket, including in 2014 when he was vice president.
Exclusives pictures from DailyMail.com show a sprawling property that sits on the island's secluded inner harbor with gorgeous views of the water as the sun sets in the background.
Rubenstein bought the waterfront property in 2000 for his now ex-wife Alice and their three children. He tore down the existing house and put up a 13,000-square-foot home which features a tennis court, swimming pool, hot tub and private dock.
Zillow estimates it would cost $30,000 a month to rent.
The house is located on historic Abrams Point off of Polpis Road - named after one of the last surviving Native Americans of the Wampanoag people, Abram Quary.

Report: Biden's German Shepherd Commander Bites Another Secret Service Agent; 11th Attack
by Kristinn Taylor Sep. 26, 2023
CNN reported Tuesday that Joe Biden's German Shepherd named Commander has bitten yet another Secret Service agent. This is the eleventh known attack by Commander on a Secret Service agent since the Bidens brought him in to replace their other German Shepherd named Major after he attacked and bit Secret Service agents. One of Commander's attacks sent an agent to the hospital.
Commander's previous biting incidents were kept quiet but were revealed thanks to Judicial Watch filing a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. That this biting incident was leaked to CNN right away appears to show some in the White House are fed up with how the Bidens are handling their dogs.
President Joe Biden's younger dog, Commander, bit another US Secret Service agent at the White House Monday evening, CNN has learned, the 11th known biting incident involving the 2-year-old German Shepherd.
"Yesterday around 8 p.m., a Secret Service Uniformed Division police officer came in contact with a First Family pet and was bitten. The officer was treated by medical personnel on complex," USSS chief of communications Anthony Guglielmi told CNN in a statement.
The injured officer spoke with Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle on Tuesday and is doing OK, Guglielmi said.
Commander has been involved in at least 11 biting incidents at the White House and in Delaware, according to CNN reporting and US Secret Service email correspondence, including a November 2022 incident where an officer was hospitalized after the dog clamped down on their arms and thighs.
White House officials said in July that the Bidens were working through new training and leashing protocols for the family pet following the incidents.
Excerpts from Judicial Watch press releasedated July 25, 2023 on Commander attacking Secret Service agents:
Judicial Watch: Secret Service Records Reveal 10 Attacks by Biden German Shepherd 'Commander'
'[I]f it wasn't their dog he would already have been put down'
judicial Watch announced today that it received 194 pages of records from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealing 10 attacks by President Joe Biden's German Shepherd, Commander, on officers and agents of the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) between October 2022 and January 2023, and do not include any possible recent events. In several cases the agents required medical care, including at a hospital.
Judicial Watch forced the release of the records through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit that was filed after the Secret Service, a component of Homeland Security, failed to respond adequately to a December 2022 request for "records related to incidents of aggression and bites involving the Biden family dog, 'Commander.'" Judicial Watch filed the request after receiving a tip about the dog's behavior.
Acquired in December 2021, Commander, a pure-bred German Shepherd, replaced another German Shepherd, Major, which was reportedly "given to family friends" following a series of attacks on Secret Service and White House staff. (In April 2022 Judicial Watch released records detailing multiple attacks and damages to Secret Service members by Major at both the White House and Biden's lake home in Wilmington, DE.)
On November 3, 2022, a Secret Service official at "JOCATDESK" [Joint Operations Center Assistant to the Special Agent in Charge] emails colleagues in the Presidential Protective Division:
Commander bite [sic] UD [Uniform Division] officer [redacted] at post [redacted] two times, one time in the upper right arm and a second bite on the officer's thigh. WH [White House] medical treated the officer and made the decision to have [redacted] transported to [redacted] Hospital.
An email later that day from a captain of the Uniform Division, whose name is redacted, states that he was advised that the dog was up-to-date on all vaccines.
A November 4, 2022, email report adds details regarding the previous day's attack. A Division officer, after being bitten in the arm and thigh, had to use a steel cart to shield himself from another attack:...

Soldier of Fortune FOIA
EXCLUSIVE: Fingerprints Found on Cocaine Bag at White House, Security Sources Say
Officials at the White House know who handled a packet of cocaine that was found inside the Executive Mansion, and have confirmed that finding via fingerprint evidence, according to sources with direct knowledge of the investigation.?
"We know who handled it," one security source said. "We've known since last week."
Two sources disclosed the name of the person who is believed to have handled the packet. Soldier of Fortune is withholding the name pending official confirmation.
Agents with the U.S. Secret Service found "suspicious white powder" inside the White House on July 2, prompting an emergency evacuation while tests were performed on the powder. A lab test proved that the white substance was cocaine.?
Another test brought back a hit on fingerprints, the security source said.
The results came in quickly on the fingerprints because the sample was sent to a unit that gets results within 24 hours.?
Soldier of Fortune on Wednesday filed formal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with three agencies that are likeliest to know about the fingerprint results. The agencies are the Washington, D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department; the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia; and the U.S. Secret Service.
Representatives from the Secret Service, meanwhile, will meet on Thursday morning with the House Oversight Committee to discuss the cocaine incident, according to Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.?
The committee chairman, James Comer (R-KY) last week asked Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to provide "a staff level briefing" on the cocaine issue by July 14.
"The presence of illegal drugs in the White House is unacceptable and a shameful moment in the White House's history," Comer wrote in his July 7 letter to Cheatle.
In the letter, Comer did not mention fingerprints.
Federal rules regarding FOIA requests gives the agencies until Aug. 1 to respond to the request from Soldier of Fortune.

Soldier of Fortune Stands By White House Cocaine-Fingerprints Report
Less than 24 hours after Soldier of Fortune reported that investigators found fingerprints on a packet of cocaine that was abandoned inside the White House, the U.S. Secret service announced on Thursday that it will close down the investigation for lack of leads.
The announcement directlycontradicts what my trusted sourcestold me and continue to say.?
The timing of the July 13 announcement from the Secret Service is curious. The agency could have said last week that neither fingerprints nor DNA evidence were found on the cocaine packet. Instead, officials waited to reveal that information until after Soldier of Fortune wrote that the evidence exists.
I stand by our report. I restate the findings, below.
Officials at the White House know who handled a packet of cocaine that was found inside the Executive Mansion, and have confirmed that finding via fingerprint evidence, according to the sources with direct knowledge of the investigation.

Official Statement on the Investigation of a Substance Found in the White House
Published By U.S. Secret Service Media Relations
Published Date 2023-07-13
WASHINGTON - On the evening of July 2, officers from the U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division found an unknown substance inside a vestibule leading to the lobby area of the West Executive Avenue entrance to the White House.
The substance was located inside a receptacle used to temporarily store electronic and personal devices prior to entering the West Wing.
Following the discovery, safety closures were implemented around the White House. This response was designed to ensure that the found substance was not a chemical or radiological material that threatened the security of the White House. As such, the substance was field tested and preliminarily determined to not be a hazardous compound.
Testing conducted by the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department indicated that the found powder tested preliminarily positive for the presence of cocaine. The substance and packaging were treated as evidence and sent to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center, which analyzed the item for any biothreats. Tests conducted at this facility came back negative and gave formal confirmation that the substance was not biological in nature.
The substance and packaging underwent further forensic testing. The substance was analyzed for its chemical composition. The packaging was subjected to advanced fingerprint and DNA analysis. Both of these analyses were conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation's crime laboratory given their expertise in this area and independence from the investigation.
While awaiting the FBl's results, the Secret Service investigation into how this item entered the White House continued. The investigation included a methodical review of security systems and protocols. This review included a backwards examination that spanned several days prior to the discovery of the substance and developed an index of several hundred individuals who may have accessed the area where the substance was found. The focal point of these actions developed a pool of known persons for comparison of forensic evidence gleaned from the FBI's analysis of the substance's packaging.
On July 12, the Secret Service received the FBI's laboratory results, which did not develop latent fingerprints and insufficient DNA was present for investigative comparisons. Therefore, the Secret Service is not able to compare evidence against the known pool of individuals. The FBl's evaluation of the substance also confirmed that it was cocaine.
There was no surveillance video footage found that provided investigative leads or any other means for investigators to identify who may have deposited the found substance in this area. Without physical evidence, the investigation will not be able to single out a person of interest from the hundreds of individuals who passed through the vestibule where the cocaine was discovered. At this time, the Secret Service's investigation is closed due to a lack of physical evidence.
The U.S. Secret Service takes its mission to protect U.S. leaders, facilities, and events seriously and we are constantly adapting to meet the needs of the current and future security environment.

Trump kicks up a hornet's nest: WH now refuses to rule out if the cocaine belongs to Hunter...
July 8, 2023 (7h
President Trump has a unique talent for stirring the pot. He's got this "thing" where he says out loud what many folks are thinking, whether they'll own up to it or not. And this really ruffles the feathers of the upper crust who prefer to exist in a bubble of phony courtesies and insincerity. When it comes to "CokeGate" at the White House, Trump really kicked up a hornets nest, putting the regime in a tight spot. He got the ball rolling with a few zingers on Truth, placing Hunter firmly in the spotlight.

Those posts put the media and left in a panic.
We're also learning some new very interesting developments in CokeGate. A new report from NBC has pinpointed where the coke was actually found, and it wasn't the library, after all.
Slay:
The White House cocaine story has just changed again, blowing the scandal wide open.
Now NBC is reporting the mystery cocaine was "found one floor below the main West Wing offices and the same floor as the Situation Room and a dining area.
"The entrance is near where some vehicles, like the vice president's limo or SUV park."
This is an area an MSNBC reporter said: "Wasn't necessarily covered by cameras all that well."
"We are doing everything possible to attempt to identify who may have brought this item into the White House," Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.
This situation showcases a sad possibility that's crystal clear to most of us - it's likely Hunter's coke - but the powers that be are doing a heck of a job trying to dodge it. It's almost like they're passing the hot potato of blame, even when we can all see exactly what's happening right before our eyes.
Kilmeade:
"It doesn't usually happen that cocaine's found in the White House, when you have a guy there who has spent years on camera, in still and in video, on crack, using cocaine."

But it was President Trump who got things going and placed the regime between a rock and a hard place by calling a spade a spade. As a result, the regime is now refusing to rule out Hunter as the owner of the cocaine.
Daily Mail:
The White House batted away new lines of questioning Thursday about cocaine discovered at the White House - with a spokesman invoking the Hatch Act to avoid giving a direct answer to a charge leveled by Donald Trump.
White House spokesman Andrew Bates was asked about 'pretty wild' posts by the former president, who claimed cocaine discovered at the White House Sunday belonged to the president or his son Hunter, who has acknowledged illegal drug use in the past but says he is clean now.
'I don't have a response to that because we have to be careful about the Hatch Act,' Bates responded, invoking the law barring politicking by government officials during their official duties. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has regularly used the law as a crutch during briefings, but recently got her own warning about running afoul of its intricacies from the Office of Special Counsel.
President Trump is saying what everyone out there is thinking - of course it was probably Hunter's cocaine, he was at the White House the day before, and looked suspiciously "hyped on" on the balcony during the July 4th festivities.
I'm not saying Hunter Biden snorted cocaine at the White House but if he did, I would expect it to look exactly like this. pic.twitter.com/n3VykREfgq
- Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) July 5, 2023
We also know that Hunter tends to get very careless with his "things" and leaves them lying around when he's high as a kite - as he did with the laptop from hell.

Cocaine Found In White House
A powdery white substance that tested positive as cocaine in preliminary tests was found in the White House, sparking an investigation from the U.S. Secret Service, the agency said Tuesday.
KEY FACTS
Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the Secret Service, told Forbes that the white powder was found in the White House Sunday evening and that preliminary tests showed it was cocaine.
Guglielmi said the discovery prompted a brief evacuation-President Joe Biden was at Camp David and not in the White House at the time-and response from the Washington, D.C., Fire Department, which quickly determined the substance to be nonhazardous.
The Secret Service has launched an investigation into how it entered the White House, Guglielmi said.
The substance was discovered in a work area in the west wing by members of the Uniformed Division of the Secret Service conducting routine rounds through the building, the secret service told Forbes.
The news was first broken after several news organizations reportedly heard firefighters discussing the discovery on public radio channels.
SURPRISING FACT
This might not be the first time illegal drugs were brought into or used at the White House. American Rapper Calvin "Snoop Dogg" Broadus Jr. claimed on a webshow in 2014 that he smoked marijuana in a White House bathroom in 2013. Willie Nelson similarly claims in his 1988 autobiography he smoked a joint on the White House roof sometime during President Jimmy Carter's presidency. Villanova University star basketball player Gary McLain told Sports Illustrated in 1987 that he was "wired on cocaine" during his visit to meet President Ronald Reagan at the White House following the team's 1985 NCAA championship.
CRUCIAL QUOTE
"You have got to be kidding me," former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, who served in President George W. Bush's administration, wrote on Twitter following the discovery. "Cocaine was found at the WH and authorities aren't saying exactly where it was found. If it's the Old Executive Office Building, it's likely staff. If it's the mansion, it's likely Hunter."

Secret Service Investigating How Cocaine Got In The White House
TUESDAY, JUL 04, 2023 - 03:15 PM
The Secret Service on Tuesday confirmed rumors from the day earlier that it was investigating an "unknown item" found inside the White House library on Sunday, which was described in radio traffic as a cocaine-like substance.
"On Sunday evening, the White House complex went into a precautionary closure as officers from the Secret Service uniformed division investigated an unknown item found inside a work area," Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement, adding that the D.C. fire department determined the substance did not present a threat… although it certainly could present Hunter Biden with hours of brand new video material for his infamous notebook.
In a dispatch with an 8:49 p.m. timestamp, a firefighter with the D.C. department's hazardous materials team radioed the results of a test: "We have a yellow bar saying cocaine hydrochloride."
The brief broadcast was logged on a website called openmhz.com, which allows people to listen to live and archived radio transmission from police and fire departments. One of the officials familiar with the investigation, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss an open case, said the 8:49 transmission was from the White House call Sunday night. The official described the amount of the substance as small, which likely means that most of it had already been consumed.
The discovery came two days after recovering crack cocaine addict Hunter Biden was last seen at the White House; yet even so there appears to be some "mystery" as to how the cocaine got there.
The Biden family arrived back at the White House for Independence Day celebrations as the Secret Service continues to investigate the finding.
Secret Service spokesman Gulielmi said that President Joe Biden was not in the executive mansion when the substance was discovered.
"The DC fire department was called to evaluate and quickly determined the item to be non-hazardous. The item was sent for further evaluation and an investigation into the cause and manner of how it entered the White House is pending," he said, laughably hinting that there was some "confusion" as to how crack got inside the Blowden Biden family's DC estate as it is in the process of being auctioned off to Beijing. Here's a thought: since Hunter has a habit of recording his every close encounter with crack cocaine, just check his cell phone's latest video recordings.
In its report, ABC notes that "Cocaine hydrochloride can be used as an anesthetic or to control bleeding, but it is also considered to have effectssimilar to crack cocaine, according to the study National Library of Medicine National Center for Biotechnology Information", which suggests that thetype of cocaine found was of a particular variety especially near and dear to Hunter's heart.
"The physiological and psychoactive effects of cocaine are similar regardless of whether it is in the form of cocaine hydrochloride or crack cocaine (cocaine base),"the study says. You do learn something new every day.
The "item" was sent to a Secret Service lab for further testing, the sources said.
The White House on Tuesday referred reporter questions about the matter to the Secret Service, because what else could they say: "to pay for Hunter's crack addition, Joe had to sell even the Resolute Desk to Beijing." Of course, that's a silly joke: after all, just imagine what America's international allies - and enemies - would think if any of this Jerry Springer Special, live from the White House, turned out to be even remotely true…
The Biden's cocaine antics take place just days after the younger Biden reached a plea deal with Justice Department prosecutors to avoid jail time after lying on a federal form to purchase a firearm. He checked a box claiming that he did not use and was not addicted to illegal substances - a fact that would disqualify him from buying the gun. The form contradicting the timelines and claims made in Hunter Biden's own memoir.
Biden critics and conservative decried Hunter's plea deal, claiming that anyone other than the president's son would receive jail time for the same offense. The deal also saw Hunter plead guilty to two tax misdemeanors which would have been a felony - and meant prison time - for anyone else but the president's crack and whore-addicted son.
Come to think of it, there was plenty of reasons for Hunter to be celebrating in the aptly named China White house.

The U.S. Secret Service is investigating after a white powder was reportedly found at the White House on Sunday.
The substance was discovered by members of the Uniformed Division of the Secret Service conducting routine rounds through the building, Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Secret Service, told The Washington Post.
A preliminary field test indicated that the substance was cocaine, according to a dispatch from a fire crew that responded.
In audio footage, logged on a site called openmhz.com, a firefighter with the D.C. department's hazardous materials team can be heard calling in the results of a test

Secret Service will not seek 'special accommodations' for Trump's Miami court appearance
The Secret Service will not seek "special accommodations" ahead of former President Donald Trump's arraignment in a Miami federal courthouse on charges related to his alleged mishandling of classified documents, a spokesman for the agency said Friday.
"While operational security precludes us from going into specifics, the Secret Service will not seek any special accommodations outside of what would be required to ensure the former president's continued safety," Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement on Friday.
"As with any site visited by a protectee, the Secret Service is in constant coordination with the necessary entities to ensure protective requirements are met. We have the utmost confidence in the professionalism and commitment to security shared by our law enforcement partners in Florida," he added
Trump, 76, revealed Thursday that he has been summoned to appear before the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Tuesday at 3 p.m., where he intends to plead "not guilty" to all 37 charges in special counsel Jack Smith's 49-page indictment against him.

No survivors found after plane that flew over DC and led to fighter jet scramble crashes in Virginia
The plane that crashed was registered to Encore Motors of Melbourne Inc, which is based in Florida. John Rumpel, who runs the company, told The New York Times that his daughter, 2-year-old granddaughter, her nanny and the pilot were aboard the plane. They were returning to their home in East Hampton, on Long Island, after visiting his house in North Carolina, he said.
Rumpel, a pilot, told the newspaper he didn't have much information from authorities but suggested the plane could have lost pressurization.
"It descended at 20,000 feet a minute, and nobody could survive a crash from that speed," Rumpel told the newspaper.
A woman who identified herself as Barbara Rumpel, listed as the president of the company, said she had no comment Sunday when reached by The Associated Press.
President Joe Biden was playing golf at Joint Base Andrews around the time the fighter jet took off. Anthony Guglielmi, spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service, said the incident had no impact on the president's movements Sunday. Biden was playing golf at the Maryland military base with his brother in the afternoon.
A White House official said the president had been briefed on the crash and that the sound of the scrambling aircraft was faint at Joint Base Andrews.

Unresponsive small plane over Washington causes military jet to scramble, later crashes in Virginia
A wayward and unresponsive business plane that flew over the nation's capital Sunday afternoon caused the military to scramble a fighter jet before the plane crashed in Virginia, officials said. The fighter jet caused a loud sonic boom that was heard across the capital region.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the Cessna Citation took off from Elizabethtown, Tennessee, on Sunday and was headed for Long Island's MacArthur Airport. Inexplicably, the plane turned around over New York's Long Island and flew a straight path down over D.C. before it crashed over mountainous terrain near Montebello, Virginia, around 3:30 p.m.
It was not immediately clear why the plane was nonresponsive, why it crashed or how many people were on board.
A U.S. official confirmed to The Associated Press that the military jet had scrambled to respond to the small plane, which later crashed. The official was not authorized to publicly discuss details of the military operation and spoke on condition of anonymity.
Flight tracking sites showed the jet suffered a rapid spiraling descent, dropping at one point at a rate of more than 30,000 feet per minute before crashing in the St. Mary's Wilderness.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command later said in a statement that the F-16 was authorized to travel at supersonic speeds, which caused a sonic boom.
"During this event, the NORAD aircraft also used flares - which may have been visible to the public - in an attempt to draw attention from the pilot," the statement said. "Flares are employed with highest regard for safety of the intercepted aircraft and people on the ground. Flares burn out quickly and completely and there is no danger to the people on the ground when dispensed."
The plane that crashed was registered to Encore Motors of Melbourne Inc. A woman who identified herself as Barbara Rumpel, who is listed as the president of the company in Melbourne, Florida, said she had no comment Sunday when reached by a reporter for The Associated Press.

Secret Service Refuses To Hand Over Emails Naming Biden's Delaware Visitors
Republicans have been demanding answers on the lack of transparency on visitor logs from President Joe Biden's Delaware home - and the response they just got won't make things better moving forward.
The U.S. Secret Service is reportedly refusing to hand over emails identifying visitors to Biden's homes in Delaware as a Freedom of Information Act request was filed.
"Please be advised that emails reflecting visitors to President Biden's residences in Wilmington, Delaware, and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware are not agency records subject to the FOIA. See Doyle v. U.S. Dep't of Homeland Sec., 959 F.3d 72 (2d Cir. 2020) (finding that emails regarding expected visitors to the sitting President's residence were not agency records subject to the FOIA.)," the officer said in a letter.
The NY Post noted that it had filed its own FOIA request and that the Secret Service claimed last year that "no records were located" of Biden's Delaware visitors.
"A Secret Service FOIA officer cited a federal appeals court ruling in New York regarding visitor information for former President Donald Trump's residences, even though the ruling doesn't bind the actions of officials in Delaware or in DC," the New York Post reported.
Earlier this year, the Secret Service said it was "gathering" information about who visited Biden's home in Wilmington, Delaware amid a scandal involving the president's potentially illegal possession of classified documents.
The Washington Examiner reported the demand includes information on "all individuals" who visited the residence as well as other places where Biden stashed classified documents, including a private office he used at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C.
The outlet noted further:
Sens. Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson wrote to the Secret Service on Monday in a letter first obtained by the Washington Examiner and requested the visitor logs. Now, the Secret Service said it is evaluating that letter and is "currently in the process of gathering" various information, as well as "working through appropriate channels" to locate what "may be responsive to Congressional inquiries."
"We are in receipt of Senator Grassley's letter and it is currently being reviewed," Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Secret Service, told the outlet, which reported that he also said the USSS does not maintain "formal and comprehensive visitor logs for protected residences."

Littlest intruder: Toddler crawls through White House fence
WASHINGTON (AP) - A curious toddler on Tuesday earned the title of one of the tiniest White House intruders after he squeezed through the metal fencing on the north side of the executive mansion.
U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division officers, who are responsible for security at the White House, walked across the North Lawn to retrieve the tot and reunite him with his parents on Pennsylvania Avenue. Access to the complex was briefly restricted while officers conducted the reunification. Officers briefly questioned the parents before allowing them to continue on their way.
Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said officers "encountered a curious young visitor along the White House north fence line who briefly entered White House grounds."
"The White House security systems instantly triggered Secret Service officers and the toddler and parents were quickly reunited," he said in a statement.
It may be the first successful intrusion onto the complex since the White House fence was doubled in height to roughly 13 feet (3.96-meters) in recent years after a series of security breaches. While taller, the new fence has an additional inch of space between pickets, for a total of 5? inches (12.7 centimeters) between posts.
Older children have sometimes become stuck in the iconic barrier, which has also been the scene of demonstrations, with protesters chaining themselves to the fence.

Democratic lawmaker demands Secret Service visitor logs from homes of Trump, Pence
January 31, 2023
Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin on Tuesday demanded the Secret Service provide the House Oversight Committee with visitor logs from the homes of former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence as the panel probes the mishandling of classified documents by top government leaders.
Raskin's request matches that of panel Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.), who earlier this month demanded information from the Secret Service on visitors to President Biden's Delaware home following revelations that highly sensitive material from his time as vice president was found in the house and garage.
"Given that the U.S. Secret Service provided protection for Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence during the time they stored classified materials at their respective residences, the Committee is seeking information from your agency regarding who had access to former President Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club and former Vice President Pence's personal residence since leaving office," Raskin, the ranking member on the Oversight Committee, wrote in the letter to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle.
In the letter, Raskin gives the agency until Feb. 14 to comply with the request to turn over all documents and communications related to visitor information at Pence's Carmel, Indiana home and Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club since Jan. 21, 2021.
Regarding visitor logs at Biden's home, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi claimed earlier this month that the agency doesn't "independently maintain our own visitor logs because it's a private residence." But he later admitted that "the Secret Service does generate law enforcement and criminal justice information records for various individuals who may come into contact with Secret Service protected sites."
According to a Fox News report, the Secret Service "is prepared to provide available background information on vetted guests to Biden's residence if requested by Congress."

White House says DOJ, Archives has Biden visitor info as House panel wants access
January 23, 2023
WASHINGTON -Visitor logs detailing who had access to President Biden's Delaware home where classified documents from his time as a senator and vice president were improperly stashed awayare now in the hands of the Justice Department and National Archives, the White House said Monday.
After the Secret Service initially denied last week that such records existed, the counsel's office told House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) that the agencies now had custody of the logs.
"In it, the White House Counsel ... explained that the White House does not have possession of the documents, that the Archives and DOJ have taken [them] into their possession and stressed the importance of protecting the integrity and independence of law enforcement investigations," White House spokesman Ian Sams told reporters.
Comer had formally requested details of visitors to the Wilmington, Del. home in a letter earlier Monday to Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle.
"The US Secret Service protected President Biden during the time he stored these classified materials at his Wilmington residence," Comer wrote.
"Given the White House's lack of transparency regarding President Biden's residential visitor logs, the committee seeks information from the Secret Service regarding who had access to his home since serving as vice president," the chairman added.
Beginning Dec. 20, the president's attorneys and law enforcement officials have found multiple batches of sensitive papers at Biden's home during several searches.
On Saturday, the White House announced that six documents marked classified had been removed from the residence the day before by investigators, along with some of Biden's notes and "surrounding materials."
The Delaware home became a target of searches after Biden's attorneys reportedly found 10 pieces of classified material in an abandoned office at the Penn Biden Center in DC on Nov. 2, six days before the midterm elections.
The White House has refused to divulge who may have had access to the documents while visiting the president since he took office in January 2021, insisting that the home is his "personal" residence - despite the fact that Biden has spent all or part of 164 days there across 52 trips since becoming the oldest-ever president.
In the letter, Comer said the committee previously requested a Wilmington visitor log from White House chief of staff Ron Klain on Jan. 15, but were told that administration officials "do not maintain" such information.
On Jan. 16, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi initially stated the agency had no information to provide to journalists or members of Congress because "we don't independently maintain our own visitor logs because it's a private residence."
He later walked back that statement, saying Thursday that "the Secret Service does generate law enforcement and criminal justice information records for various individuals who may come into contact with Secret Service protected sites," prompting Comer to send the Monday letter.
🚨@RepJamesComer is calling on the U.S. Secret Service Director to provide all documents, communications, and visitor information maintained for President Biden's Wilmington, Delaware residence.

Report: Secret Service Has Records of 'Regular' Visitors to Biden's Delaware Home
Fox News reported Thursday that a "source familiar" has told them that the Secret Service has records of "regular" visitors to Joe Biden's Wilmington, Delaware home that the agency is prepared to turn over to Congressional investigators, contradicting statements by the White House counsel's office and a Secret Service spokesman that no visitor logs have been kept. The issue of visitor logs or records for Biden's home is part of investigations into the discovery of illicit unsecured classified documents recently found in several locations, including the garage, at Biden's home.
Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chairman of the House Oversight Committee sent a letter to the White House on Sunday demanding the visitor logs for Biden's home.
...While the White House has not kept a formal list, the Secret Service does collect information on guests with regular access to the home.
Retention of the names of those vetted by the Secret Service depends on a variety of factors, including proximity to the president and the nature of the background check.
...A source familiar with the situation told Fox News that the Secret Service is prepared to provide available background information on vetted guests to Biden's residence if requested by Congress.
Fox posted a 2019 photo by reporter Peter Doocy showing Biden's home unguarded:
Earlier this week Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told reporters the agency does not keep visitor logs for Biden's private residence (via NBC News):
Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi echoed the White House: "We don't independently maintain our own visitor logs because it's a private residence." He added the Secret Service does perform background checks on those who come in contact with the Bidens at their Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach homes, but that the U.S.S.S. only retains those documents for a limited time. But Guglielmi said the agency would cooperate with any congressional request for information.
The White House counsel's office also released a statement Monday denying keeping visitor logs at Biden's Delaware home:
"Like every President across decades of modern history, his personal residence is personal. But upon taking office, President Biden restored the norm and tradition of keeping White House visitors logs, including publishing them regularly, after the previous administration ended them."
The AP reported last Friday that Biden has spent nearly 200 days of his presidency at his Delaware homes:
So far in his presidency, Biden has spent part or all of 194 days in his home state of Delaware, spending most weekends in either at his Wilmington home or in Rehoboth Beach, where he owns a $2.7 million home, according to an Associated Press tally. He will head to Wilmington again this weekend.
On Wednesday Comer sent a letter to the University of Pennsylvania demanding information on the Penn Biden Center where the first batch of classified documents were found last November (excerpt):

classified information, please provide the following documents and information no later than
February 1, 2023:
1. All documents and communications related to donations originating from China to

Biden names new a Secret Service director as the agency faces controversy
August 24, 20228:02 PM ET
WASHINGTON - President Joe Biden on Wednesday namedKim Cheatle, a veteran Secret Service official, to be the agency's next director as it faces controversy over missing text messages around the time thousands of supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol.
Cheatle, who left the Secret Service in 2021 for a job as a security executive at PepsiCo, takes the reins as multiple congressional committees and the Department of Homeland Security's internal watchdog are investigating the missing text messages, which the Secret Service has said were purged during a technology transition.
Cheatle had served in the Secret Service for 27 years and was the first woman to be named assistant director of protective operations, the division that provides protection to the president and other dignitaries.
Cheatle had served on Biden's protective detail when he was vice president. During that time, Biden "came to trust" her judgment and counsel, he said in a statement.
Biden said that her and first lady Jill Biden "know firsthand Kim's commitment to her job and to the Secret Service's people and mission."
Cheatle replaces James Murray, who had announced his retirement to take a position with Snap, the social media company best known for its app, Snapchat. He announced last month that he would delay his retirement amid the investigations while Biden looked for a new director.
The Secret Service has faced increasing criticism after admitting that text messages from around the time of the attack of Jan. 6, 2021, on the Capitol were deleted.
The agency has said the messages were purged when its phones were migrated to a new system in the weeks after the 2021 attack.
Rep. Stephanie Murphy, D-Fla., a member of the House committee investigating the attack, has said the Secret Service told the committee that it left it up to individual agents to decide what electronic records to keep and what to delete during the process.
The committee has taken a recent, renewed interest in the Secret Service following the dramatic testimony of former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson about Trump's actions on the day of the insurrection.
The Secret Service has said all procedures were followed and pledged "full cooperation" with all of the reviews and investigations, including a criminal investigation by the Homeland Security's inspector general.
Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Cheatle "is a law enforcement veteran and served as the first female assistant director in charge of all protective operations for the agency before retiring."
"We are ecstatic to welcome her back as the next Director of the United States Secret Service," he said in a tweet.

Secret Service Tells Jan 6 Committee it Has No New Text Messages Related to Capitol Protest
As previously reported, the Secret Service was accused of 'deleting' text messages from January 5 and January 6 by the agency's watchdog.
The Secret Service told the January 6 Committee that it has no new text messages related to the Capitol protest after it turned over documents and data.
Democrat Rep. Stephanie Murphy told MSNBC that the Committee didn't receive the data it wanted.
It's never enough.
The Secret Service said the agency will conduct a forensic investigation to search for the data.
"We are conducting forensic examinations on cell phones and while it's unlikely that the data could be recovered, we are using every investigative resource to meet the committees request," the spokesperson said.

The Secret Service notified the House Jan. 6 committee that it had found no new text messages related to the Capitol riot - the same day the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) sent a letter requesting the agency investigate the deletion of some its records from Jan. 6, 2021, which drew the scrutiny of an internal watchdog.
The Secret Service's plans were confirmed to ABC News by a source familiar with the matter; they were first reported by The Washington Post.
"We received a letter today that did provide us with a lot of documents and some data. However, we did not receive the additional text messages that we were looking for," Rep. Stephanie Murphy, a member of the committee, said on MSNBC later Tuesday.
"They're going to continue to see if there are other ways in which they can secure the required and subpoenaed text messages that we have asked for," Murphy, D-Fla., said.
The watchdog claims the Secret Service deleted the text messages after an oversight panel probing the agency's response to January 6 requested the electronic communications.
The Secret Service denied the accusations and said all of the requested text messages had been saved.
"The insinuation that the Secret Service maliciously deleted text messages following a request is false," Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.
They will never let it go.
The National Archives is also harassing the Secret Service.

US National Archives asks probe into deleted texts between Jan 5,6
The chief records of the National Archives, Laurence Brewer, has requested that the US Secret Service investigate the possible unauthorized deletion of text messages on telephones belonging to the agency between January 5 and 6, 2021, the period during which Republican riots stormed the White House in attempt to overturn the election results.
In an e-mail sent by Brewer, it was written, "If it is determined that any text messages have been improperly deleted … then the Secret Service must send NARA a report within 30 calendar days of the date of this letter with a report documenting the deletion."
"This report must include a complete description of the records affected, a statement of the exact circumstances surrounding the deletion of messages, a statement of the safeguards established to prevent further loss of documentation, and details of all agency actions taken to salvage, retrieve, or reconstruct the records."
The request comes days after the Inspector General of the Department of Homeland Security told 2 congressional committees that many text messages pertaining to the Secret Service between January 5 and 6 were erased by the Secret Service themselves.
The House select committee looking into the Capitol riots has issued a subpoena to the US Secret Service demanding records, including text messages.
Anthony Guglielmi, the spokesman for the Secret Service, announced on Twitter that the agency will comply with NARA's request.
"The United States Secret Service respects and supports the important role of the National Archives and Records Administration in ensuring preservation of government records. They will have our full cooperation in this review," Guglielmi said Tuesday.
The inspector general sent a letter to the heads of the House and Senate Homeland Security Committees, justifying the deletion of messages as they were erased "as part of a device-replacement program." This comes although the inspector general asked for such communications to be saved.
During the day of the revolt, Secret Service agents were with Trump, as well as Vice President Mike Pence, who went into hiding at the Capitol when pro-Trump rioters shouted for his execution.
On June 29, a former White House worker testified to the House January 6 probe that Trump tried to force the Secret Service to send him to the Capitol to join his supporters that day.
"The Department notified us that many US Secret Service (USSS) text messages, from January 5 and 6, 2021, were erased as part of a device replacement program," Cuffari wrote in the letter first reported by The Intercept and later published by Politico.
"The USSS erased those text messages after OIG requested records of electronic communications" for a review of January 6, he said, referring to the Office of the Inspector General. Furthermore, he said that the agency had paused in providing other records to the OIG.

Secret Service has no new texts to deliver to Jan. 6 committee: Report
by Ryan King, Breaking News
| July 19, 2022 03:03 PM
On Tuesday, the National Archives and Records Administration requested the Secret Service investigate whether text messages from the period in question were "improperly deleted." The National Archives gave the agency 30 days to report back its findings and discuss actions it undertook to "salvage, retrieve, or reconstruct the records."
"The United States Secret Service respects and supports the important role of the National Archives and Records Administration in ensuring preservation of government records. They will have our full cooperation in this review," Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the Secret Service, tweeted.
The agency did not maliciously purge text message material but lost the material due to a "device-replacement program," Guglielmi previously stressed. The replacement program began about a month before the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Inspector General sought those records, according to Guglielmi. The OIG made shockwaves last week when it informed the Jan. 6 committee that Secret Service text messages from Jan. 5-6, 2021, had been erased.
"DHS OIG requested electronic communications for the first time on Feb. 26, 2021, after the migration was well underway. The Secret Service notified DHS OIG of the loss of certain phones' data, but confirmed to OIG that none of the texts it was seeking had been lost in the migration," Guglielmi told the Washington Examiner last Thursday.
Guglielmi contended that some data had been lost but suggested "none of the texts" the OIG was after had been missing, the Washington Post reported. This prompted the Jan. 6 committee to subpoena the Secret Service for text messages from during the period in question.
The Washington Examiner reached out to representatives for the Secret Service and Jan. 6 committee for comment.
Secret Service text messages could shed light on what transpired behind the scenes on or before the day of the Capitol riot. Last month, former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson testified at a public Jan. 6 committee hearing that former President Donald Trump attempted to commandeer a Secret Service vehicle and lunged at an agent. Those claims have been disputed by Trump and reportedly by her source, Robert Engel, the special agent in charge at the time.
The Jan. 6 committee is slated to hold another public hearing Thursday focusing on Trump's actions while the Capitol riot unfolded.

Lawmakers subpoena Secret Service for January 6 texts
Democrats probing the Capitol riot have demanded relevant messages from the federal law enforcement body
(So the committee is retaliating against the SS because they called out the lies. Hey J6 Committee, they ain't called the Secret Service for nothing)
The Congressional panel investigating the riot at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021 has subpoenaed the Secret Service for text messages that might shed light on the incident, after a government watchdog suggested the agency may have deleted them maliciously.
In a letter written to Secret Service Director James Murray on Friday, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Mississippi) said the House committee had subpoenaed the policing authority to produce a series of text messages originally sent on January 5 and 6. It was given a July 19 deadline to provide the documents to Congress.
While the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) inspector general previously suggested the Secret Service had erased those messages - and that it did so only after it was explicitly asked to hand them over - the service later said some texts were deleted as part of a pre-planned "system migration," but that "none of the texts [the inspector general] was seeking had been lost in the migration."
It remains unclear why the messages have not yet been turned over, however, as the Secret Service now claims to possess them.
In addition to the texts themselves, the House panel is also issuing subpoenas for any relevant "after action reports that have been issued in any and all divisions" of the service.
In comments to the Washington Post on Thursday, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi insisted that no messages were deleted "maliciously" to avoid complying with an inspector general request, instead saying the agency has been "fully cooperating" with the investigation "in every respect."
(HRC excuse, SS was doing yoga, good! If they let HRC off they should let SS off.)

"It's concerning, obviously. If there's a way we can reconstruct the texts or what have you, we will," Thompson, who also chairs the House Homeland Security Committee, told Axios at the Capitol on Thursday.
Asked if the committee would bring in Secret Service agents to try to reconstruct the texts, he said, "I think it's important for us to get as much information about how this discrepancy occurred."
Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement, "The insinuation that the Secret Service maliciously deleted text messages following a request is false."

==US Secret Service Employee Detained By Israeli Police, Sent Home After 'Physical Encounter'
A Secret Service employee was detained by Israeli police and questioned Monday evening as Joe Biden arrived in Tel Aviv, NBC News reported.
Biden arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel Monday evening and was briefed on the Iron Dome and a new laser-based "Iron Beam."
According to reports, the Secret Service employee was detained by Israeli police after a "physical encounter" with a woman, then released without charges before being sent back home.
Secret Service agents and personnel were walking back to their hotel room after dinner Monday night when one of the member's of Biden's detail physically assaulted a woman.
It is unclear if alcohol was involved.
NBC News reported:
A U.S. Secret Service employee working on President Joe Biden's trip to Israel was briefly detained after a "physical encounter" there and has been sent back to the United States.
The incident occurred late Monday, ahead of Biden's arrival in Israel on Wednesday. The employee was detained and questioned by Israeli police, who released him without charges, a Secret Service spokesperson said.
"In accordance with agency protocol, his access to Secret Service systems and facilities was suspended pending further investigation," the spokesperson said.
The incident occurred after the agent and other personnel went to dinner and were returning to their hotel, according to a person familiar with the matter. A woman alleged she was physically assaulted in an incident on the street and local police were called, the person said.
The incident didn't involve any allegations of sexual assault, and it is not known if alcohol was involved, the person said.
Earlier this year a member of Joe Biden's Secret Service team was arrested in Seoul, South Korea for a drunken assault.
Two US Secret Service members were involved in the altercation and sent home ahead of Biden's visit to the region.
"The Secret Service is aware of an off-duty incident involving two employees which may constitute potential policy violations. The individuals will be immediately returned back to their post of duty and placed on administrative leave," Secret Service spox Anthony Guglielmi said. "There was no impact to the upcoming trip. We have very strict protocols and policies for all employees and we hold ourselves to the highest professional standards. Given this is an active administrative personnel matter, we are not in a position to comment further."

Secret Service chief snaps up Big Tech job
James Murray is to head security at Snapchat after 27 years in government service
US Secret Service Director James Murray announced his retirement on Thursday, leaving the White House for Silicon Valley. After 27 years in government service, including the last three in charge of protecting two US presidents, Murray will take over as head of security at the parent company of Snapchat at the beginning of August.
Murray "embodies the meaning of service over self, and protected the families of US Presidents like they were part of his own. We are incredibly grateful for his service to our country and our family," President Joe Biden and his wife Jill said in a statement commenting on his departure.
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said he "benefited tremendously" from having Murray as "a trusted advisor and highly regarded leader" at the DHS, which has overseen the Secret Service since 2003.
Murray took over the Secret Service in May 2019, under President Donald Trump. In his three years as director, Murray "contributed significantly to the agency's continued professionalization and growth, and helped the agency navigate the unique challenges presented by the historic [Covid]-19 pandemic," the Secret Service said in a statement.
Snap said the company was "thrilled" to have Murray as their head of security. When he reports to his new job on August 1, he will be in charge of security for the company's 5,000 employees worldwide and report directly to co-founder and CEO Evan Spiegel.
Murray joined the Secret Service in 1995 as a financial investigator, but transferred to the presidential protection branch in 2001. He was offered the job in April, but chose to wait till July in order not to be a "distraction from the president's NATO summit, the Summit of the Americas out in Los Angeles and the G7 summit," Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told the Daily Mail. He also wanted to wait until he could present the agency's budget request to Congress, Guglielmi added.
The Secret Service was recently brought into the controversy around the 2021 riot at the US Capitol. During a televised hearing before the House January 6 committee at the end of June, Cassidy Hutchinson, aide to Trump's chief of staff Mark Meadows, claimed that Trump had attacked his head of security Bobby Engel after he refused to drive him to the Capitol that day. Hutchinson said she heard the story from deputy chief of staff Tony Ornato and that Engel did not dispute it at the time.
However, the Secret Service said Hutchinson's claim was not true, and that both Engel and Trump's driver were willing to testify under oath to that effect.

Secret Service: 'We Were Not Asked' to Confirm Cassidy Hutchinson's J6 Story
The Secret Service's communication chief stated on Wednesday the agency was not asked to corroborate Cassidy Hutchinson's Tuesday testimony before the January 6 Committee, where she claimed with secondhand knowledge that former President Donald Trump tried to commandeer "the Beast" after his rally that day.
"[W]e were not asked to reappear before the Committee in response to yesterday's new information and we plan on formally responding on the record," Anthony Guglielmi wrote in an email to Politico. "We have and will continue to make any member of the Secret Service available."
Just hours after Hutchinson leveled the accusations against Trump, NBC News reported that Bobby Engel, Trump's Secret Service man on duty on January 6, would testify under oath to contradict Hutchinson's story of Trump's alleged attempt to commandeer the Beast.
With the threatened debunking of Hutchinson's testimony under oath, the 25-year-old's attorney, Jody Hunt of Alston & Bird, alleged Hutchinson simply recounted to the committee what she was told secondhand.
"Ms. Hutchinson testified, under oath, and recounted what she was told," Hunt wrote. "Those with knowledge of the episode also should testify under oath."
Politico reported Wednesday afternoon the committee had already interviewed the Secret Service agent in question, Engel, whose testimony "is not known to include the stunning details Hutchinson described."
"It's not clear why the select panel didn't seek further corroboration from the Secret Service as it planned Hutchinson's hearing," Politico reported. "Members of the select committee have said they welcome any more information about the Secret Service altercation that witnesses would provide under oath."

Chicago Hospital Stopped Accepting Patients, Too Many Gang Shooting Victims
Erika Marie
August 05, 2019
This isn't the busiest weekend they've had.
One of the five trauma clinics in the Chicago area had to reportedly put themselves "on bypass." That's Mount Sinai Hospital's way of saying that they weren't accepting any more patients, and ambulances needed to take the injured somewhere else for the time being. According to the center's Senior Vice President for External Affairs, Roberta Rakove, the overwhelming amount of shooting victims had the hospital backed up and they just couldn't help any more people.
By Sunday morning there were 12 trauma patients being cared for at Mount Sinai, and according toFOX 5 News, Chicago Police Public Information Officer Anthony Guglielmi told CNN that there were issues with gang disputes on the west side of the city. Over the weekend in total, there were reportedly 37 people shot and four people killed.

'Empire' star Jussie Smollett attacked in possible hate crime
Sandra Gonzalez
By Sandra Gonzalez, CNN
Updated 5:49 PM EST, Thu January 16, 2020
CNN -
"Empire" actor Jussie Smollett was attacked in the early morning hours on Tuesday in what Chicago police are calling a possible hate crime.
Smollett was attacked by two people who were "yelling out racial and homophobic slurs" and "poured an unknown chemical substance on the victim," police said.
One of Smollett's alleged attackers also put a rope around his neck, according to police. Both fled the scene.
Smollett took himself to Northwestern Hospital and "is in good condition," authorities said.
As of Tuesday evening, a Chicago police spokesperson told CNN that investigators canvassed the neighborhood where the reported attack occurred and have found no still images or video from security cameras of the incident.
The only image of Smollett police obtained from security cameras was inside a Subway sandwich shop near the location of the reported crime. The actor was seen standing alone.
Chicago police detectives continue to investigate the "serious allegations," Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said early Wednesday.
"The Streeterville neighborhood where the alleged attack occurred has a very high density of city and private surveillance cameras. As of 10 p.m. Tuesday, detectives canvassed and reviewed hundreds of hours of video and have now expanded the search area along the Chicago riverfront hoping to find video to be able to release a public description of the offenders," he said.
"Unfortunately, thus far we have not found any helpful information on a suspect or a suspect's vehicle to be able to share."
Guglielmi said detective teams will broaden their search area and work around the clock to look for video on traffic cameras, buses and neighboring streets.
;A dozen police detectives, with the assistance of the FBI, are working the case, he said.
CNN'sDon Lemonspoke to –Smollett__ and a mutual friend who was at the hospital with the actor. Smollett confirmed the incident took place.
He was shaken and angry that an attack like this could happen. Smollett told CNN he fought back at the attackers.
"Given the severity of the allegations, we are taking this investigation very seriously and treating it as a possible hate crime," the police statement said.
Investigators are testing the chemical Smollett said he was doused with and have yet to confirm the nature of the substance.
Smollett has starred on Fox's "Empire" since 2015. He plays Jamal, a successful singer in the musical Lyon family. Like his character, Smollett identifies as gay.
"We are deeply saddened and outraged to learn that a member of our 'Empire' family, Jussie Smollett, was viciously attacked last night," a representative of 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Entertainment said in a statement to CNN. "We send our love to Jussie, who is resilient and strong, and we will work with law enforcement to bring these perpetrators to justice. The entire studio, network and production stands united in the face of any despicable act of violence and hate - and especially against one of our own."
A representative for GLAAD told CNN the organization has reached out Smollett to offer assistance and support.
"Jussie is a true champion for LGBTQ people and is beloved by the community and allies around the world," a GLAAD spokesperson said in a statement.

Cop Kills Unarmed Teen After Mistaking Fellow Cop's Gunfire as the Teen's
After fatally shooting a teenager nearly four years ago, two Chicago Police officers have finally been fired. The officers were the subject of intensive criticism over the years for the shooting death of 18-year-old Paul O'Neal. After the release of a series of body and dash cam videos showing a number of procedural errors - and a startling lack of coordination - including firing at a fleeing vehicle and an astounding admission by the cop who fired the fatal shot that he did not know if O'Neal was even armed, a small bit of accountability has happened.
The NY Times reports that in an 8-0 decision, the Chicago Police Board found that the officers, Michael Coughlin and Jose Torres, had violated the department's safety rules by firing at a moving car and endangering the lives of other officers. Both men were discharged from their positions, according to a decision issued by the board in March.
"I think their actions, as the department said, were ridiculous, totally out of line and improper," Michael Oppenheimer, a lawyer for Mr. O'Neal's family, said. "I would even call them criminal. Because what happened was those actions helped to result in Paul O'Neal's death."
The admission by police at the time of the shooting appears to indicate that cops perceived crossfire shots from the other officers on scene had been fired by O'Neal, when in fact the teen did not have a weapon at all. In direct violation of departmental policy, officers fired at the vehicle they believed O'Neal had stolen - worse, that gunfire directly endangered not only the suspected car thief, but other officers and everyone in the neighborhood.
The staggering lack of coordination in officers firing their weapons likely inadvertently led to O'Neal's death as cops believed gunfire was emanating from the suspect instead of each other.
In the series of nine videos, one officer accuses the suspect of firing at them, while another expressed doubt, saying:
"They shot at us too, right?"
Another says the suspect "almost hit my partner. I f**king shot at him."
Torres can be heard lamenting that he's going to be on "desk duty for 30 f**king days now" - as if what amounts to a paid vacation for taking someone's life is something to be concerned about in the immediate aftermath. Well, now he's been fired.
Officers in the footage clearly aren't certain who is firing on whom - indicating that none of them should have been doing so.
According to the Times:
By repeatedly firing his weapon at a moving stolen vehicle, Mr. Coughlin broke Police Department rules, the board wrote, and "endangered the lives of everyone around him, including his own partner and fellow officers as well at the occupants of the stolen vehicle." The board called his use of force "unreasonable and unjustified at all points it occurred."
Like Mr. Coughlin, Mr. Torres endangered the lives of other officers on the scene and the occupants of the car by firing his weapon, the board found. He also violated basic traffic safety requirements, the decision said.
Police claim the body camera of the officer, Officer Jose Diaz, who fatally shot the teen in the back as he fled was not operational at the time. Authorities theorized the impact of the stolen Jaguar hitting the patrol vehicle - which deployed its airbags - accidentally forced the camera to begin recording. They point to the fact the camera began recording immediately after the shooting as evidence the officer thought he'd actually recorded the shooting and then shut the power off.
"We don't believe there was any intentional misconduct with body cameras," asserted police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi at the time.
While the department claims there was no intentional misconduct in the lack of body camera footage, it conveniently kept from public light, the actual fatal shot, fired by Officer Diaz - after O'Neil crashed the car, got out, and was running away.
An autopsy would later reveal that the shot that killed O'Neil was fired into his back.
Though he was suspended at the time of the teen's killing, Diaz was not fired.

Will They Not Spread It? Cops Exposed to COVID-19 Told to Keep Working
Chicago, IL - California has been locked down with their governor skirting the idea of Martial Law, the rest of the country is following suit, people shutter themselves inside and those who have been exposed are being told to self-quarantine for 14 days. Curfews are rolling out, businesses closed, millions unemployed, and a national lockdown is looming as governments attempt to stop the spread of COVID-19. There is one group of people, however, who are remaining on the streets in spite of their exposure - cops.
According to the CDC, if you come in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, you should monitor your health for fever, cough and shortness of breath during the 14 days after the last day you were in close contact with the sick person with COVID-19. You should not go to work or school, and should avoid public places for 14 days.
We could not find the section in their guidelines that says cops should not follow these recommendations.
Nevertheless, on Thursday, the Chicago police department notified its officers that a member of the force has tested positive for COVID-19. Following the notification, the cops who worked in close proximity to the infected officer were told to stay on the job.
In an email sent to department employees, interim Chicago Police Superintendent Charlie Beck wrote that "all members who work in close contact with this individual have been notified and advised to continue to report for work and self-monitor for any symptoms."
This move is being met with harsh criticism from health experts.
As WBEZ reports, Dr. Robert Murphy, executive director of the Institute for Global Health at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine said the decision to tell people who have had direct exposure to a case of COVID-19 to keep coming to work is "wrong."
"I mean, if we want to get rid of this thing, everybody in close proximity to that person should be quarantined at home," Murphy said. "We're so behind in the testing still. But anyone with close contact has to be in self-quarantine. I mean, that's just, I don't think there's any question."
Murphy explained how the shortage of test kits makes us vulnerable and therefore everyone exposed should self-quarantine for 14 days. He said that for cops, self-quarantine is especially important since they not only put their coworker's health at risk, but the general public as well.
"[Officers will be] interacting with the public, interacting with people who may end up in prison or jail. Who then could spread it in jail? You know how hard it is to isolate people in a jail? I mean, it's gonna be a nightmare if that happens," Murphy said.
According to WBEZ, in a statement, department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said CPD is working with the Department of Public Health "to identify all individuals who were in contact with the member."
Guglielmi ensures the public that they wiped down the officer's area, so there is nothing to worry about.
Guglielmi said once they were notified of the positive COVID-19 test, "the department began a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the facility where the employee was stationed. The employee's work area and any vehicles and equipment used by the individual are also being cleaned."
"The health and safety of our employees is the utmost priority," Guglielmi said. But given the department's current policy, that statement rings hollow. What's more, it appears that the department couldn't care less about the public's health either. Given their history with illegal and violent raids on countless innocent families, this information should come as no surprise.

Chicago Police Are Using a Facial Recognition Program That Scans Billions of Facebook Photos
The end of privacy as we know it?
Manhattan-based Clearview AI is collecting data from unsuspecting social media users and the Chicago Police Department (CPD) is using the controversial facial recognition tool to pinpoint the identity of unknown suspects, reads a report from the Chicago Sun-Times.
And according to a bombshell New York Times report, it is also being used by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security.
The software's creator, Hoan Ton-That, maintains that it is purely "an after-the-fact research tool for law enforcement, not a surveillance system or a consumer application." However, privacy advocates are saying this technology is so intrusive and ripe for abuse its use should be immediately halted. And earlier this month, a lawsuit was filed in federal court seeking to do just that.
Chicago attorney Scott Drury who filed the lawsuit describes CPD's signing of a two-year, $49,875 contract with Illinois tech firm CDW Government to use Clearview AI's software as "frightening."
Conversely, Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi explains:
Get the latest from The Mind Unleashed in your inbox. Sign up right here.
"Our obligation is to find those individuals that hurt other people and bring them to justice. And we want to be able to use every tool available to be able to perform that function, but we want to be able to do so responsibly."
According to police, some CPD officials at the Crime Prevention and Information Center used the software for two months on a trial basis prior to the signing of the contract in January.
Despite the two month trial and the contract having been signed for approximately one month, CPD spokesman Howard Ludwig has declined to explain if and when Clearview AI has been used by the department thus far. Ludgwig explained:
"Any information about ongoing investigations can only come from cases that have been thoroughly adjudicated. We haven't had Clearview long enough for any of the cases to have gone through the courts."
Clearview AI's database includes three billion photos taken from social media and network platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. The software searches its massive database for matches after users, including CPD, upload a photo of a suspect. The user is then provided with links for each image returned in the search that the company once told Green Bay police to "run wild" with in a marketing email.
Ton-That told the Sun-Times, "Our software links to publicly available web pages, not any private data." It is clear he doesn't seem to think the software poses any problems. But just this month, New Jersey's attorney general Gurbir Grewal "put a moratorium on Clearview AI's chilling, unregulated facial recognition software."

BREAKING: Judge Orders Google To Turn Over An Entire Year Of Jussie Smollett's Data
A Cook County judge has ordered Google to turn over nearly all of Jussie Smollett's data from the last year as prosecutors move forward in investigating the alleged hate crime hoax.
The Chicago Tribune reported, "The warrants, filed last month in Circuit Court, sought a trove of documentation from Smollett and his manager's Google accounts - not just emails but also drafted and deleted messages; any files in their Google Drive cloud storage services; any Google Voice texts, calls and contacts; search and web browsing history; and location data."
In the warrants, investigators asked for an entire year of data, starting in November 2018 and ending in November 2019.
The Tribune added, "Authorities could be looking for any incriminating remarks from Smollett or his manager, especially in the months after State's Attorney Kim Foxx's office abruptly dismissed disorderly conduct charges against the then-'Empire' actor just weeks after his indictment."
Foxx's questionable actions caused public outrage which ultimately contributed to Judge Michael Toomin's decision to appoint a special prosecutor, former U.S. Attorney Dan Webb, to re-prosecute the case.
In a separate report, the Tribune added, "Webb, 73, now the co-chairman of the powerful Winston & Strawn law firm, has investigated the conduct of numerous targets over the years, from corrupt local officials to a former president."
The alleged hate crime hoax, in which Smollett is accused of staging an attack on himself, actually started before the alleged stage attack happened.
NPR reported that on January 22, "Smollett ... says he received a letter at the Chicago studios where the show is filmed. Inside the letter - according to the actor - were a then-unknown powder, a drawing of a stick figure hanging from a tree, and cutout letters stating: 'Smollett Jussie you will die black f***.'"
Exactly one week later, on January 29, Smollett told police that he was attacked late at night by two individuals who he claimed "yelled racist and homophobic slurs at him, beat him up, poured a chemical on him, and left him with a rope wrapped around his neck," NPR added.
Police initially arrested two brothers from the alleged attack, but, after 48 hours in custody, the case turned.
Chicago Police Department's Chief Communications Officer Anthony Guglielmi tweeted on February 15: "Due to new evidence as a result of today's interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the Empire case have now been released without charging and detectives have additional investigative work to complete."
Days later Smollett was charged and was accused of staging the entire event because he "was dissatisfied with his salary."
"Jussie Smollett took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career," Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said at the time. "I'm left hanging my head and asking why.Why would anyone, especially an African-American man, use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations? How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile? How can an individual who's been embraced by the city of Chicago turn around and slap everyone in this city in the face by making these false claims?"

With more than 500 homicides, Chicago's violent death total falls for 3rd straight year
Though there were more than 500 killings this year, Chicago is poised to finish the decade with the fewest murders in a given year since 2015 - capping a decade that saw more than 5,200 people killed throughout the city.
As of Monday, the Chicago Police Department had tallied 491 murders on the year. The total is down from the 579 recorded in 2018, the 670 in 2017 and the nearly 800 recorded in 2016. The Cook County medical examiner's office, meanwhile, has found 510 deaths in Chicago in 2019 were homicides.
"This is a milestone for us, it's not success though," CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Monday.
So far, arrests have been made in 101 murder cases that originated in 2019, according to department records.
The Harrison District on the West Side - historically one of the most violent parts of the city - again had the most murders of the CPD's 22 districts in 2019, with 71 as of Monday. The Lincoln District on the North Side was the only district in the city to not see a single murder all year.
The deadliest incident of the year occurred in October when, authorities allege, Krysztof Marek opened fire on a family in a condo building on the Northwest Side, killing five. It was the fourth time since 2001 that five or more people were murdered in a single incident in Chicago.

Investigator on Smollett Case Reassigned After Allegedly Leading Cops on 100 MPH Chase
by Alberto Luperon | 5:25 pm, July 14th, 2019
Commander Edward Wodnicki was reassigned pending the Chicago Police Department investigating the allegation that he led Indiana State Police on a 100 mph pursuit. Law&Crime readers might remember him as lead investigator in the Jussie Smollett investigation.
"Based on information received from the Indiana State Police regarding Commander Wodnicki, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson has ordered an internal investigation into the entirety of a June 12, 2019 traffic stop," CPD spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement obtained by The Chicago Tribune.
Wodnicki will work with the Bureau of Technical Services in the meantime. He was on the way to work on a case in Chicago at the time of the June 12 incident, Guglielmi said. It was a death investigation.
"Where he was in Indiana and all that part, the traffic stop itself, all of that will be a focus of the Internal Affairs investigation," said Guglielmi.
It was unclear why Wodnicki was in Indiana at the time, by Chesterton, about 45 miles away from Chicago. Cops said Wodnicki was speeding at over 100 mph while on a cell phone at a 70 mph zone.
"On his cell phone," the trooper wrote. "He is not stopping. Passing. Waved at me when I pulled up next to him."
State police went as far as to put out spike strips, and Wodnicki stopped before running those over, they said.
Porter County Prosecutor Gery Germann said that Wodnicki was issued a ticket for only going 80 mph after investigators determined the commander wasn't fleeing, just trying to get to work.
"Once we got everything organized, we weren't overly concerned with it," he said.

Previous incident with Edward Wodnicki
"CHICAGO - A commander of a Chicago police detective division was reassigned while the department investigates allegations that he refused to stop when an Indiana state trooper tried to pull him over for speeding last month.
Area Central Cmdr. Edward Wodnicki was headed west on Interstate 94 in an unmarked department car, his blue lights flashing, when the trooper tried to stop him near Chesterton, about 45 miles from Chicago, according to the Indiana State Police.
"While patrolling I-94, I observed a vehicle having emergency blue lights on at a high rate of speed with Illinois plates," a trooper wrote in a report. "The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued."
Wodnicki's Ford Fusion was clocked at more than 100 mph at one point while the commander was on a cellphone, dispatch records show.
"Not stopping," a trooper reported. "On his cell phone. He is not stopping. Passing. Waved at me when I pulled up next to him."
State police deployed spike strips, but the commander stopped before driving over them, records show.
"Request supervisor come to the scene," a trooper reported. "This is a Chicago PD unit. ... Driver advised he was enroute to his office in Chicago."
The records show Wodnicki was detained by state police for about an hour before being released. He was ticketed for speeding. It was unclear why he was in Indiana.
Before making the traffic stop, the trooper thought Wodnicki's car might be from a local volunteer fire department, authorities said. Like Chicago police cars, that fire department's vehicles are known for their distinctive blue emergency lights, said Gary Germann, prosecuting attorney for Porter County in Indiana.
But when the trooper learned the fire department wasn't on any emergency calls at the time, the trooper decided to pull the car over, Germann said, not knowing its occupant, Wodnicki, was a police officer from Chicago.
Wodnicki still was issued a speeding ticket for traveling 80 mph in a 70-mph zone, even though dispatch records show he was actually traveling at speeds higher than 100 mph. Germann explained the ticket was amended to a less serious infraction after authorities learned Wodnicki wasn't trying to flee the police and was trying to get to work.
"Once we got everything organized, we weren't overly concerned with it," Germann said.
Germann said Wodnicki paid $252.50 in court costs for the ticket. And instead of pleading guilty, the commander qualified for Porter County's "ticket deferral program," which allows motorists caught speeding to avoid a traffic conviction if they don't commit another moving violation for a year.
The Chicago Police Department's Bureau of Internal Affairs is investigating the incident, according to police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
"Based on information received from the Indiana State Police regarding Commander Wodnicki, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson has ordered an internal investigation into the entirety of a June 12, 2019 traffic stop," Guglielmi said in a statement.
Pending the review, Wodnicki has been reassigned to the Bureau of Technical Services, which oversees several administrative functions within the department. Wodnicki could not be reached for comment.
At the time of the traffic stop, Wodnicki was on his way to Area Central headquarters on Chicago's South Side to supervise an ongoing case, Guglielmi said. He could not specify what case it was.
"The superintendent's office requested Commander Wodnicki to oversee interviews about a recent death investigation," Guglielmi said. "Where he was in Indiana and all that part, the traffic stop itself, all of that will be a focus of the Internal Affairs investigation."
Wodnicki was recently in the news because he oversaw the investigation of Jussie Smollett. The "Empire" actor was charged in February with falsely reporting to police that he was the victim of a hate crime."

In late March, Wodnicki aired his frustrations to reporters after learning Cook County prosecutors dropped the charges against the actor in exchange for community service and forfeiture of $10,000 posted for bond.
"To get to this point now opens the door for people to say that we didn't do the job right," Wodnicki said. "It is absolutely a punch in the gut. We worked very, very closely throughout our three-week investigation to get to the point where we arrested the offender."

31 shot, 5 fatally, so far in Chicago during Memorial Day weekend
As Memorial Day weekend wore on, by Sunday afternoon Chicago police had responded to the shootings of 31 people, five of whom died from their injuries, officials said.
The grim tallies grew as a shooting Sunday about 6 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Hastings Street left two dead and two injured. The shooting was possibly in retaliation for an earlier one in the same University Village neighborhood, which also left a man dead, investigators said.
Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department, said detectives believe there is a connection between the two shootings - on the same block, hours apart - that in total killed three people and injured another three.
"We do believe that the two shootings from 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. are connected," Guglielmi wrote in an email to the Tribune.
Guglielmi said detectives are questioning four people of interest in connection with the shooting of four people on Hastings, in the ABLA Homes public housing community.

33 Shot Over Warm Weekend in Chicago, Including 2 Children at Baby Shower
Six people were shot at a baby shower in Chicago, including two children, in what police suspect to be a gang revenge attack. A 10-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy were said by police to be in "critical but stable condition" following the shooting on the evening of Saturday, April 6, on Chicago's South Side. They were the youngest of the 33 people shot over the weekend in a city where temperatures hit their highest so far this year. The children were shot outside a family gathering in West Englewood, together with four adults who were also wounded.
"We know that two men in dark clothing approached the family gathering, which we believe was a baby shower and opened fire," said Anthony Guglielmi, chief communications officer of the Chicago Police in a statement. "Based on the victim profiles, we suspect this could have been from an earlier incident that stemmed from an ongoing gang conflict in that neighborhood," Guglielmi said.
Eyewitnesses told the Chicago Tribune that there were about 20 children outside at the time. They rushed toward the house as the shots rang out, piling onto each other as they tried to get through the door, Richard Nix, whose oldest grandson was having the baby shower, told the paper. "We were trying to pick the kids up, get the kids out of the way. ... They were going to get crushed," Nix said. "It wasn't nothing but kids in front of the house, sitting on the porch. They were just playing, and the shooting went off." "The ones that were doing the shooting, none of them get shot," Nix said. "It's just all the innocent people."
The two children in Englewood were among 4 children who were shot in total over the weekend, according to WGN-TV. According to Fox News, police reported the two gunmen fled on foot. However, WGNTV cites witnesses who said that the shots were fired from a passing SUV. Police said that the individuals at the scene were not being cooperative.
Eyewitnesses told local stations that the boy had been shot in the chest and that the girl was hit in the leg. "She's screaming, people across the street are screaming, kids are running around," witness Lamon Reccord told WGNTV. "This little boy and his mom is putting pressure on his chest from the gunshot wound to his chest." He was taken to hospital after police officers arrived and took over CPR. "Two of the officers saved his life," Nix said. "We were just trying to hold the pressure down, but the officers came up and started doing CPR, and I honestly believe they saved his life."
Mayor Rahm Emanuel said he knows the family of the 8-year-old boy, reported WGNTV. "I'm sick as everyone else in this city, sick and tired," Emanuel said. "You have nothing but a bunch of gang bangers thinking our streets are their firing range." An uptick in violence often follows a rise in temperature over the summer months in Chicago, where the winter cold keeps people indoors. With a rise in temperature come more social gatherings, more alcohol, more disputes ... and more violence. Temperatures climbed to their highest yet this year over the weekend. According to the Chicago Tribune, a 13-year-old boy was among 24 shot in various incidents over the weekend, which left three dead. Including those shot since Friday afternoon, the total rises to 33, according to WGNTV, with four fatalities.

Kim Foxx Never 'Formally' Recused Herself from Jussie Smollett Case
Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx never "formally" recused herself from the Jussie Smollett case - contrary to the Chicago prosecutor's public announcement that she had done so - a spokesperson for the prosecutor confirms.
In a statement Wednesday, Cook County State's Attorney spox Kiera Ellis said Foxx "did not formally recuse herself or the [State's Attorney] Office based on any actual conflict of interest. As a result, she did not have to seek the appointment of a special prosecutor."
According to Ellis, Foxx's announcement that she had recused herself "was a colloquial use of the term rather than in its legal sense."
"Instead, in an abundance of caution, Fox informally separated herself from the decision-making over the case and left it to her Assistants, as happens in 99.9% of all cases handled by the Office," the spokesperson added.
Prosecutors abruptly dropped all charges against Jussie Smollett on Tuesday after the Empire actor accused of faking a racist, anti-gay attack on himself agreed to let the city keep his $10,000 in bail. However, he maintained his innocence and insisted he was attacked.
Records show Cook County's top prosecutor asked Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson to let the FBI investigate the alleged attack on Empire actor Jussie Smollett before the actor was charged with lying to authorities.
Email and text messages given to the Chicago Sun-Times by Foxx show she made the effort after former first lady Michelle Obama's chief of staff Tina Tchen contacted Foxx to set up a telephone conversation with a Smollett relative.
According to the USA Today, Foxx told the former Michelle Obama aide that she "convinced" Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson to request the FBI "take over" the investigation. In a text message to a Smollett family member, Foxx confirmed that she had made the request. "Spoke to the superintendent earlier, he made the ask," wrote Foxx. "Trying to figure out logistics. I'll keep you posted."
The ensuing conversations were cited by Foxx in recusing herself from Smollett's prosecution.
Foxx told the Sun-Times the relative expressed concerns over leaked information that media outlets attributed to "police sources."
Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says the FBI was involved from the start but there was never talk of turning the case over.
As Breitbart News reported Tuesday, progressive billionaire mega-donor George Soros donated $408,000 in 2016 to a super PAC which supported Foxx.
Smollett is accused of lying to the police about a racist and homophobic attack on himself in downtown Chicago on January 29th. The actor told police he was assaulted by two masked individuals, who hurled racist and homophobic insults at him. He said his attackers doused him with an unknown chemical substance, place a thin rope around his neck, and shouted "This is MAGA country!" before fleeing. Police charge Smollett paid $3,500 to the two men, both of whom are black.
The men were brothers Abimbola "Abel" and Olabinjo "Ola" Osundairo, and one of them had worked on Empire. An attorney for them, Gloria Schmidt, has said the brothers agreed to help Smollett because of their friendship with him and the sense that he was helping their careers.

Records: Former Michelle Obama aide, Smollett relative reached out to Kim Foxx
03/13/2019, 08:49pm
Just days after Jussie Smollett told Chicago police he had fought off a pair of attackers who targeted him in an apparent hate crime, Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx tried to persuade Police Supt. Eddie Johnson to turn the investigation over to the FBI.
Foxx's call to Johnson came after an influential supporter of the "Empire" actor reached out to Foxx personally: Tina Tchen, a Chicago attorney and former chief of staff for former First Lady Michelle Obama, according to emails and text messages provided by Foxx to the Chicago Sun-Times in response to a public records request.
Tchen passed Foxx's number to a relative of the actor, and the ensuing conversations with the family member were cited by Foxx last month as the reason she recused herself from Smollett's prosecution as the actor faces disorderly conduct charges for allegedly making a false police report.
Text messages show Tchen contacted Foxx on Feb. 1, three days after Smollett said he was jumped by two men as he walked home from a sandwich shop near his Streeterville home. Tchen texted Foxx to set up an early morning phone call.
"I wanted to give you a call on behalf of Jussie Smollett and family who I know. They have concerns about the investigation," Tchen wrote in a text sent before 5 a.m., seeking to set up a call with Foxx before Tchen left on an 8 a.m. flight to New York.
A few hours later, Foxx received a text from a relative of Smollett, who said she'd received the number from Tchen.
In an interview with the Sun-Times this week, Foxx said that the family member expressed concerns about leaked information about the investigation - information that media outlets attributed to "police sources."
"They had no doubt about the quality of the investigation, but believed that the FBI would have a tighter lid on the information," said Foxx, adding that Johnson initially seemed receptive to the idea of turning the case over to the FBI.
Foxx said she has made similar calls to Johnson in cases involving lower-profile victims.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the FBI was involved from the start of the investigation, as is the case in most possible hate crime investigations, but there was never a discussion of the CPD giving up the case to federal investigators. The department confirmed last week that there is an ongoing internal investigation of the unnamed sources who gave the press information.
The conversations with Smollett's relative took place during the period of the investigation when Smollett was considered the victim of a hate crime, not a suspect in a hoax, Foxx said.
Her decision to recuse herself was based on the conversations with the family member, which included information about Smollett.
An email included with the records requested by the Sun-Times shows Foxx's chief ethics officer sent a message to top staff announcing Foxx had recused herself from the case on Feb. 13 - about a week before Smollett was charged, and the same date as her last text message and calls with Smollett's relative.
Foxx spokesman Robert Foley announced that the top prosecutor had recused herself and turned the case over to her top deputy, Joseph Magats, on Feb. 19, without explaining why.
The next day, Foley elaborated in a statement to reporters that Foxx "had conversations with a family member of Jussie Smollett about the incident and their concerns, and facilitated a connection to the Chicago Police Department who were investigating the incident."
The text messages show Foxx told both Tchen and Smollett's relative that Foxx had reached out to Johnson personally about handing the investigation off to the FBI.
"Spoke to the superintendent earlier. He is going to make the ask. Trying to figure out logistics. I'll keep you posted," Foxx wrote the relative that evening.
"OMG this would be a huge victory," the relative texted in reply.
In an email message to Tchen sent the same day, Foxx wrote: "Spoke to the Superintendent Johnson. I convinced him to reach out to FBI to ask that they take over the investigation. He is reaching out now and will get to me shortly."
"I don't think it is odd or rare for prosecutors to talk to police, or for (Foxx) herself to ask what is going on in a particular case," Kling said. "And, once she realized she had talked to a family member who may have given her information about a pending case, recusing herself was exactly the right thing to do."

Ex-Obama Official Tried Pulling Strings To Have Smollett Case Transferred To FBI; Told To Pound Sand
Michelle Obama's former Chief of Staff, Tina Tchen, attempted to have the Jussie Smollett case transferred from the Chicago Police Department to the FBI, according to texts and emails released by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.
Tchen, a Chicago-based attorney, reached out on Feb. 1 to Chicago's top prosecutor Kim Foxx - telling her that the "Empire" actor's family had "concerns" about the investigation.
Smollett was considered at the time to be the victim of an assault, however the actor was subsequently charged with disorderly conduct for filing a false police report in connection with a staged hate crime. Last week, a Chicago grand jury slapped Smollett with a 16 count indictment for lying to the police - to which he pleaded not guilty on Thursday.
"Spoke to the Superintendent Johnson," Foxx emailed Tchen on Feb. 1, in reference to Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson. "I convinced him to Reach out to FBI to ask that they take over the investigation."
Foxx also texted with one of Smollett's relatives whose name was redacted from the text release, saying: "Spoke to the superintendent earlier, he made the ask … Trying to figure out logistics. I'll keep you posted."
"OMG this would be a huge victory" the family member texted back.
"I make no guarantees, but I'm trying" replied Foxx - who recused herself from the case on Feb. 20.
Foxx recused herself from the investigation before Smollett was charged. Her first deputy, Joe Magats, is overseeing the case.
Foxx said in an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times that Smollett's family was concerned that aspects of the police investigation were being leaked to media.
"They had no doubt about the quality of the investigation, but believed that the FBI would have a tighter lid on the information," Foxx told the outlet.
Anthony Guglielmi, the police department's chief spokesman, said Foxx conveyed the request to Johnson that Tchen and the Smollett family member wanted the FBI to take over the investigation. -USA Today

HUGE: Kamala Harris Was Allegedly Involved In Jussie Smollett's "MAGA Country" Hoax
BY CLOVERCHRONICLE ON FEBRUARY 15, 2019
On Friday, Chicago police released a statement saying "two brothers" are being questioned about a reported attack on 'Empire' star Jussie Smollett. Detectives consider these brothers as "potential suspects" and have "probable cause" that they may have committed a crime.
According to the Chicago Tribune:
The statement, tweeted by police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, did not say what charges the brothers, both in their 20s, could face. On Thursday, police were describing them only as "persons of interest" and Guglielmi emphasized then that they were not suspects.
A law enforcement source told the Tribune the two men, who are black, were brought in for questioning Wednesday night from O'Hare International Airport.
Smollett originally claimed late last month that he was attacked by two white men who shouted racial and homophobic slurs at him while they wrapped a rope around his neck and yelled, "This is MAGA country!"
Sources close to the case have told multiple news outlets that detectives are investigating the possibility that Smollett "staged the incident" with the help of the aforementioned brothers, who happen to originate from Nigeria and work with the actor on 'Empire.'
Speaking of sources...
One person who apparently has knowledge of the situation claims 2020 presidential hopeful Kamala Harris may be involved (link):
"This puppy [Jussie Smollett] is tied to Kamala. There is a chance this will come out. CPD is pissed about the situation. They had the phone records before the spreadsheet was given to them. They also had the two Nigerians from following them on video from walking to taxis, etc. They had payment records. The interview on Good Morning America will be damning. Detectives have been 2 steps ahead the whole time. Would suggest for people to contact their representatives to have Kamala investigated. She is involved and wish I could tell you how I know. Just contact your reps and push for them to look into this. It may help."

CBS: Jussie Smollett 'Concocted Staged Attack' After Hate Letter 'Didn't Get Enough Attention'
Empire actor Jussie Smollett "concocted" a "staged attacked" against himself after receiving a racist letter addressed to him failed to evoke a "bigger reaction," a source tells CBS 2.
"When the letter didn't get enough attention, he concocted the staged attack," one source told CBS 2's Brad Edwards, who reported "other sources corroborated that information."
A letter contained "white powder" was delivered on January 22 to a Chicago set where Empire was filming in the days leading up to the alleged staged assault. In a statement to CNN, Chicago police spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed a HAZMAT team scrambled to Cinespace Studios, where the program was being shot, after the letter was found.
The substance was found to be powdered aspirin.
According to TMZ, Smollett had received a letter at Fox studios which read "Die Black fag."
The FBI is probing the matter, said Guglielmi.

Jussie Smollett Case Going to Grand Jury
The increasingly strange and tangled Jussie Smollett case will be heard by a grand jury this week, according to TMZ, which cites law enforcement sources. The sources say police are keeping an eye on two brothers arrested and released in the case, because they want to make sure the Empire star doesn't contact them. Sources tell the Chicago Tribune that police suspect Smollett paid the Nigerian brothers to stage an alleged attack on him last month. Police said Saturday that information from the brothers had "shifted the trajectory of the investigation" and they had requested a "follow-up interview" with Smollett. The actor says he was attacked Jan. 27 by two men shouting racist and homophobic insults who put a rope around his neck.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Sunday that the interview had not been conducted yet, the AP reports. "We're not confirming, denying, or commenting on anything until we can talk to him and we can corroborate some information that we've gotten." According to TMZ's sources, when police searched the men's apartment, they found two magazines with letters cut out, and they are investigating whether there is a connection to a threatening letter with cut-out letters that Smollett says he received before the attack. One source also says police found it hard to believe one attacker shouted "This is MAGA country," because "not a single Trump supporter watches Empire." (Read more Jussie Smollett stories.)

Jussie Smollett case to go to grand jury as it's alleged Empire star 'REHEARSED hoax attack with two Nigerian brothers who he paid $3,500 to assault him with bleach and a noose'
Law enforcement sources familiar with the Jussie Smollett attack investigation told TMZ that a grand jury will hear the case next week
Chicago police have said Smollett may have orchestrated an assault on himself
Abimbola 'Abel' and Olabinjo 'Ola' Osundairo, who are cooperating with investigators, reportedly told detectives that they did a practice run days before
Smollett furiously denied hoax claims saying 'nothing is further from the truth'
The actor issued a statement Saturday night through his lawyers, who now say one of the suspects was Smollett's personal trainer for a music video
'It is impossible to believe that this person could have played a role in the crime against Jussie or would falsely claim Jussie's complicity', they say
Attorneys say Smollett 'has now been further victimized by claims'
Both men, Nigerian brothers, are friends of Smollett and said to be anti-Trump
The brothers were reportedly paid $3,500 and were promised additional $500
Smollett said last month that he was the victim of a racist, homophobic attack
Initial reports said two noose-wielding men yelled 'this is MAGA country'
Police say new evidence emerged in interrogations that requires investigation
However, Smollett is not officially considered a suspect, CPD said
He recently hired high-powered defense lawyer Michael Monico
A grand jury is slated to hear the Jussie Smollett case next week, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation into the Empire actor's alleged hoax attack.
Chicago police insiders told TMZ that authorities are keeping a close eye on two Nigerian brothers, who were arrested and questioned about the attack before being released on Friday, to make sure that Smollett doesn't try to contact them.
Investigators have said they believe Smollett may have paid Empire extras Abimbola 'Abel' and Olabinjo 'Ola' Osundairo $3,500 to assault him in an orchestrated, rehearsed attack on January 29.
Sources say Smollett initially agreed to sign complaints against his assailants, but declined to do so once he heard that Abel and Ola were the men in custody because he knew them and felt bad for them.
Reports of a possible grand jury emerged hours after the Chicago Police Department said Smollett was not yet being considered an official suspect, despite insider claims to the contrary.
'We have some information that needs to be corroborated and verified with the Empire cast member before we can answer this question,' CPD said in a statement to TMZ.
'After new developments, we've reached out to his attorney and requested additional time to interview him.'
Smollett has furiously denied claims that he orchestrated the assault and said 'nothing could be further from the truth'.
Abel and Ola reportedly told detectives that the 2am attack was supposed to happen earlier and that they did a practice run beforehand, according to CBS Chicago.
( Jussies plane was delayed 5 hours that night, so that is why they said it was planned for earlier)
Sources said one of the brothers put a rope around Smollett's neck and poured bleach over him while the other wore a red hat and yelled racist and homophobic slurs at him.
The brothers, who reportedly had a relationship with Smollett and were extras on Empire, told authorities they had bought the items used in the attack at the actor's direction.
Smollett had told police that on January 29, two assailants tied a rope around his neck and poured an unknown chemical substance on him while yelling 'Empire f**t' and 'Empire n***' at him.
That narrative, however, is now under serious scrutiny by investigators, who reportedly have evidence that Smollett directed his 'attackers' to buy the rope used in the 'assault' at a local hardware store.
Documents prove two Nigerian brothers, who work as extras on the highly rated Fox drama, bought the rope which was found around Smollett's neck at Crafty Beaver Hardware Store in Chicago.
Sources said that the brothers used Smollett's money when they made the purchase on the weekend of January 25.
They also bought two red plain hats that they wore during the alleged attack, according to sources close to the investigation.
Police believe that the red hats were purchased at a local beauty supply store in the Uptown section of Chicago.
We can confirm that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation,' Chicago Police spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said.
'We've reached out to the Empire cast member's attorney to request a follow-up interview.'

Now that Leftists are forced to admit that Jussie Smollett is a lying scumbag, there is another matter to look into.
Not long before the hoax attack on Jussie Smollett there was another incident involving the TV show, Empire. As CNN reported, white powder was sent to the set of the show.
A letter containing a white powder was sent to the Chicago set of "Empire" days before one of the show's stars, Jussie Smollett, was allegedly attacked by two men on January 29.
Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told CNN that the letter, received on January 22 at Cinespace Studios, where the show is filmed, prompted a response from the HAZMAT unit.
Guglielmi said authorities determined the powder to be aspirin, but declined to give details on the content of the letter.
The FBI is leading the investigation into the letter, he added.
A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox Entertainment, which produces the series, declined to comment when reached by CNN.
I suspect if the FBI were serious about investigating this crime, we would have additional charges filed against Jussie Smollett.

What this proves is Smollett organized this entire hoax in advance. Because why would anybody want to send Anthrax to the set of Empire? I don't think too many Americans are concerned with a show about a black hip-hop mogul's family.

Kamala Harris denounces 'modern-day lynching' of Jussie Smollett
US Senators Kamala Harris and Cory Booker have called the suspected homophobic and racist attack on gay actor Jussie Smollett "an attempted modern-day lynching."
The Empire star was hospitalised after being targeted in the early hours of Tuesday morning (January 29) in Chicago.
?
Smollett was reportedly beaten by two men in the incident, during which he had a chemical substance poured on him, a rope wrapped around his neck, and was subjected to homophobic slurs.
Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told local TV station ABC7 that according to Smollett, his attackers yelled "MAGA country" during the assault.
MAGA is the acronym for President Donald Trump's campaign slogan, Make America Great Again.
Politicians condemn attack on Jussie Smollett and send support
In their messages of support, Booker and Harris urged their fellow politicians to pass the anti-lynching bill they co-sponsored in the Senate.
Booker, a New Jersey Senator, tweeted: "The vicious attack on actor Jussie Smollett was an attempted modern-day lynching. I'm glad he's safe.

Report: Chicago Police Believe Jussie Smollett Paid Two Men to Stage Attack
The Chicago Police Department believe Empire actor Jussie Smollett staged an attack on himself last month, according to a report.
"Chicago Police believe Jussie Smollett paid two men to orchestrate the assault. The sources tell CNN that the two men are now cooperating fully with law enforcement," tweeted CNN crime and justice reporter Shimon Prokupecz Saturday evening.
Earlier Saturday, Fox 32 Chicago's Rafer Weigel, citing several police sources, reported Abimbola "Abel" and Olabinjo "Ola" Osundairo - the two Nigerian brothers arrested and later questioned by police about the alleged incident - purchased the rope found around the actor's neck the night of the alleged attack at an ACE hardware store.
The dramatic developments come after Chicago police released the two men, citing to "new evidence" obtained in their interrogations.
"Due to new evidence as a result of today's interrogations, the individuals questioned by police in the Empire case have now been released without charging and detectives have additional investigative work to complete," said Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

HUGE: Kamala Harris Is Allegedly Involved In Jussie Smollett's "MAGA Country" Hoax

Interesting.
But, why would Harris help Smollett stage an incident like this?
Oh, that's right: To make Trump supporters, as well as the POTUS himself, look even more "racist" than the media already portrays them to be.
This would undoubtedly help not only her 2020 campaign, but her fellow Democratic contenders as well.
On January 29, 2019, Harris took to Twitter to condemn the attack, saying it "was an attempted modern day lynching":

Two Suspects in Jussie Smollett Case Under Arrest, Chicago Police Say
Two "potential suspects" brought in for questioning in the investigation of an attack on "Empire" star Jussie Smollett have been placed under arrest, Chicago police said Friday.
Police provided no further details, including specific charges or whether the men were the same two men who were taken into custody as "persons of interest" by Chicago police on Wednesday night.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Wednesday those men - reportedly two brothers of Nigerian descent who appeared as extras on "Empire" - were not considered suspects at the time. Their attorney Gloria Schmidt did not immediately respond to calls for comment.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Sources: Jussie Smollett staged attack with help of others, allegedly being written off 'Empire'
hicago police confirmed Thursday that detectives are talking to two persons of interest in connection with the alleged attack on "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett.
Multiple sources have told ABC7 Eyewitness News that police are investigating whether Smollett and the two men staged the attack allegedly because Smollett was being written off of "Empire."
A source familiar with the investigation told the ABC7 I-Team that Smollett failed to appear for an interview with detectives earlier Thursday.
A source briefed on the Smollett investigation confirmed to ABC News that Chicago police are questioning the two persons of interest – one of whom has appeared on "Empire."
The law enforcement official also told ABC News that the homes of the persons of interest were raided Wednesday night. Police removed shoes, electronic devices and other items they believe could help them they determine if the two people played any role in the assault from those homes.
Chicago police said they "cannot confirm any of those reports." No charges have been filed.
Earlier, police said the two persons of interest are not suspects and have not been charged. Investigators are only talking with them at this time. The two were picked up Wednesday night at O'Hare International Airport, police said.
Smollett said he was attacked around 2 a.m. on Jan. 29 in the 300-block of East North Water Street in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood. He told police two masked men shouted homophobic slurs at him, attacked him, put a rope around his neck and poured a liquid on him that smelled like bleach.
Smollett, 36, is black and openly gay.
Police said they have not found surveillance video that shows the attack. But earlier in the investigation, they did release grainy surveillance images of two possible persons of interest. The photos show two silhouettes on New Street near Illinois Street between 1:30 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. on Jan. 29.
In a statement released Thursday, police said they identified the two people in the surveillance photos and tracked them down using cameras, public transportation records and corroborating info provided by Smollett.
Smollett spoke exclusively with Robin Roberts on "Good Morning America" Thursday. He reflected on what happened to him that morning and what has happened to him since.
"It's the attackers, but also the attacks," he said, adding of those who don't believe his story, "It's not necessarily that you don't believe that this is the truth, you don't even want to see the truth."
Anthony Guglielmi, spokesman for Chicago Police Department, said earlier Thursday morning that he watched the GMA interview with CPD Superintendent Eddie Johnson. Guglielmi said Smollett's comments on GMA are consistent with what he's told Chicago police. Unfortunately, police have no solid evidence to arrest anyone at this time.
The investigation is ongoing.

Both Persons of Interest African American
CHICAGO - Chicago police have identified "persons of interest" in the alleged attack of "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett.
"These individuals are not yet suspects but were in area of concern and are being questioned," Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted.
Chicago police said the two men were picked upon their arrival at O'Hare International Airport Thursday. Both of them are African American, and at least one of them has a connection to the "Empire" actor.
Guglielmi told The Associated Press that the two men are the same people shown in surveillance photos released last month by police. Guglielmi said the men were identified through advanced technology, interviews with Smollett and witnesses, and transportation records.

Chicago Police: Jussie Smollett's 'Redacted' Phone Records Not Enough for Criminal Investigation
https://www.breitbart.com/entertainment/2019/02/12/chicago-police-jussie-smolletts-redacted-phone-records-not-enough-for-criminal-investigation/
The Chicago Police Department said Monday that it does not have enough evidence to launch a criminal investigation into the alleged assault of Empire actor Jussie Smollett after he turned over "limited and redacted phone records" to detectives.
"We are very appreciative of the victim's cooperation however the records provided do not meet the burden for a criminal investigation as they were limited and heavily redacted," Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement. "Detectives may be following up with him to request additional data to corroborate the investigative timeline."
Smollett alleges two masked men attacked him along a street in the Streeterville neighborhood as he was walking home from a restaurant on January 29. The 36-year-old alleges they punched him, hurled racist and homophobic insults at him, poured an unknown chemical substance on him, and wrapped a rope around his neck. Guglielmi said the actor told police that the alleged attackers shouted he was in "MAGA country," an apparent reference to President Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan.
The police report noted that the actor said he initially didn't want to report the attack, but another person convinced him to do so. The name of the person who encouraged Smollet to call police was redacted in the report, which notes that the person was with Smollet when officers arrived at his Chicago apartment.
When officers arrived at his apartment, Smollett still had a white rope draped around his neck. The report also noted that officers turned off their body cameras at Smollett's request - a reasonable request from crime victims, according to police.
No arrests have been made but police continue to collect and review surveillance video from the area and look for possible witnesses. Police are also going to stores to ask employees if they recall selling rope to anyone and to determine if security camera footage shows someone buying the kind of rope that was tied, noose-like, around Smollet's neck.
"We are starting to search stores to see if any of this kind of rope was purchased in the area," Guglielmi said.
The downtown Chicago area wehre the alleged attack occured has many hotels and restaurants and has widespread surveillance video coverage, and although police have found footage of Smollett making his way home - including video of him arriving at his building with a rope around his neck - they have not found footage of the attack or men fitting his description of his assailants.
Guglielmi tweeted photos of the "persons of interest" one day after the alleged assault.
Smollett and his family have defended themselves against allegations leveled on social media that he has been less than cooperative and changed his story. "I am working with authorities and have been 100% factual and consistent on every level," the actor said in a statement to ESSENCE magazine. "Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served. "
Several days after the story broke, Smollett gave a concert at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, telling the audience that if he did not perform his attackers would win. Addressing the nightclub with attendees that included Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Hollywood producer Lee Daniels, Smollett vowed: "I had to be here tonight, y'all. I can't let the motherfuckers win."
"I have so many words on my heart. The most important thing I have to say is thank you so much and that I'm okay," he said. "I'm not fully healed yet, but I'm going to. And I'm gonna stand strong with y'all. l will always stand for love. I will never stand for anything other than that. Regardless of what anyone else says, I will only stand for love. And I hope that you all will stand with me."

CHICAGO - Nearly two weeks after "Empire" star Jussie Smollett claimed he was the victim of a racist, homophobic attack, cops have yet to identify any suspects - and some people in his tony Chicago neighborhood are growing skeptical.
"I don't believe it happened the way he said it did," said Agin Muhammad, who lives in the same swank high-rise near the Navy Pier as Smollett.
"I've been in this neighborhood five years. I don't believe it, not around here ... Half the people are gay and the other half are black."
A patron at Lizzie McNeill's Irish Pub, about a block from the scene of the alleged Jan. 29 incident, said Smollett's story "doesn't really make sense."
"It's a lie, because Chicago is the most liberal city around," said the man, who wouldn't give his name. "They have cameras everywhere ... Why can't they find the attack?"
Cops have said they found plenty of surveillance video, but none that captured the incident.
Meanwhile, Chicago police said Sunday that Smollett has yet to turn over data from his cellphone to verify that he was on the phone with his music manager, Brandon Moore, when he was allegedly attacked.
Moore has said he heard Smollett's assailants shout a "racial slur" and the words "MAGA country," an apparent reference to President Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan.
"We have no reason to doubt the statements, but for a criminal investigation, we need to independently confirm the phone records," Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.
"We offered to take the phone to download the data and he expressed he couldn't be without his phone for several hours."
Jussie Smollett insists he's been honest about attack
Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson has said that Smollett, 36, was being treated as a crime victim, but would be held accountable if cops learn he filed a false report.

A pilot killed in a California crash was initially identified as a retired Chicago police officer. CPD says it has no record of him.
The man piloting a small plane that broke apart over a Southern California neighborhood had false credentials identifying him as a retired Chicago police officer, authorities said Tuesday, but they still had no immediate answers for the cause of the crash. Antonio Pastini was killed when the twin-engine plane he was piloting broke up shortly after takeoff and fell in pieces in Yorba Linda, igniting a fire in a home where four people died on Sunday. Pastini, 75, was initially identified as a retired officer but Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said there were no records of him working for the department.
Orange County sheriff's spokeswoman Carrie Braun said the credentials recovered from Pastini were not legitimate, but that the pilot was indeed Pastini. Aviation safety experts cautioned against drawing early conclusions about the cause of the crash. "At this stage you don't make assumptions. You let the evidence lead you where it leads you," said John Cox, a former commercial pilot and a veteran crash investigator who is head of the consulting firm Safety Operating Systems. National Transportation Safety Board investigators have been collecting parts of the aircraft, the plane's records and information about Pastini, who was described as a commercial pilot with an instrument flight rating.
Preliminary information showed the plane took off around 1:35 p.m. Sunday from Fullerton Municipal Airport, made a left turn and climbed to an altitude of 7,800 feet (2,377 meters) before starting to descend over Yorba Linda. Weather was intermittently rainy across Southern California during the weekend, but specific conditions the flight encountered were not immediately known.
Observers said the plane initially appeared intact when it fell through a cloud ceiling at an altitude of about 2,000 to 3,000 feet (600 to 900 meters), investigator Maja Smith said. "Witnesses say that they saw the airplane coming out of a cloud at a very high speed before parts of the airplane such as tail and subsequently wings starting to break off," she said. The Cessna 414A has good reputation, said Cox, who said he has flown similar Cessnas since the 1970s. In-flight break ups are uncommon, and causes can range from metal fatigue to instrument failure and forces induced by the pilot, he said. He said the break up may have begun earlier than was apparent to the witnesses. "Small pieces may have come off that are leading up to the cataclysmic break up that people see. You need to make sure that the airplane was fully intact when they first see it," he said. "As an investigator you have to be careful about that." Losing control of an airplane can also lead to a break up. "If you lose control of an airplane you can put enough load on it that it will actually fail, something will break," Cox said. One of the first things that might fail in that situation, he said, is a horizontal stabilizer - the structures that look like small wings on the tail. "Once one of them comes off the loads then on the airplane will exceed what it can then withstand and other pieces will fail due to structural overload," Cox said.
Photos of the wreck showing the outer portions of the wings apparently snapped off are consistent with the type of forces wings are subjected to with the loss of one or more horizontal stabilizers and the airplane loses aerodynamic balance, he said. Video showing puffs of smoke erupting in the sky as the plane fell were consistent with an in-flight break-up rather than an in-flight fire aboard the plane, Cox said. Witnesses described the plane as sounding like a missile or a racing motorcycle. Cox said that could be the result of the engines no longer being under control. The victims inside the home have yet to be publicly identified.

Police Report Is Game-Changer in Case of Gay, Black Actor Attacked by 'Trump Supporters'
When gay black actor Jussie Smollett said he was attacked by white men who yelled some stuff about "MAGA," it didn't take long for the liberal rage machine to mobilize.
"The star of the tv show 'Empire,' Jussie Smollett, was attacked by two assailants early Monday morning in Downtown Chicago according to Chicago Police Department Spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi," CNN reported.
"Smollett, 36, was walking on the 300 block of E. North Lower Water Street when two men approached him and 'gained his attention by yelling out racial and homophobic slurs towards him,' Guglielmi says in a statement.
"Two unknown offenders - it is unknown if they were male or female - then attacked Smollett, hitting him in the face and then poured an unknown chemical substance on him.
"At some point during the scuffle, one of the offenders wrapped a rope around the victim's neck and then both offenders fled the scene, the statement reads."

Smollett took himself to Northwestern Hospital, where the incident was reported to police, according to CBS Chicago.
There was plenty of condemnation to go around, particularly after TMZ reported that the attackers had shouted "this is MAGA country."
Two of the outraged included black Democratic senators, who just by chance, happen to either be running for president or widely expected to be running for president
There was one problem with this "modern-day lynching" narrative: None of that "MAGA country" stuff was originally mentioned to police and they're having trouble corroborating the fact that the attack even happened.

Empire' Actor Jussie Smollett Told Police His Attackers Yelled 'MAGA Country'
CHICAGO (AP) - A cast member on the hit television show "Empire" alleged he was physically attacked by men in Chicago who shouted racial and homophobic slurs, police said Tuesday.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said that when officers first came in contact with Smollett, he still had a rope around his neck. While being interviewed by detectives, Guglielmi said Smollett told them that the attackers yelled he was in "MAGA country," an apparent reference to the Trump campaign's "Make America Great Again" slogan that some critics of the president have decried as racist and discriminatory.
The police spokesman added that the two men were wearing masks. Investigators have not found any surveillance video or witnesses from which they can put together a description of the offenders, he said.
Smollett was able to take himself to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He was last reported in good condition.
Guglielmi also said the FBI is investigating a threatening letter targeting Smollett that was sent to the Fox studio in Chicago last week.

Secret Service chief snaps up Big Tech job(RT.com)

Fairfax County Police Confirm Jake Tapper's Producer Under Investigation by Child Exploitation Squad
https://www.breitbart.com/the-media/2021/12/28/fairfax-county-police-confirm-jake-tapper-producer-investigated-child-exploitation-squad/
Fairfax County police confirmed Tuesday that Rick Saleeby, senior producer for CNN's The Lead with Jake Tapper, is under investigation by the department's Child Exploitation Squad.
Saleeby's investigation comes after Project Veritas revealed video and text messages on December 15 that allegedly show him fantasizing about sex acts with his former fianc?'s underaged daughter.
Project Veritas revealed Saleeby's information two days after their initial report on December 17.
Fairfax County police confirmed Saleeby's investigation on Tuesday after Project Veritas investigators confronted Saleeby following a court appearance. Saleeby appeared in court to respond to a protective order placed against him by his former fianc?.
The department's public affairs director, Anthony Guglielmi, said:
The Fairfax County Police Department has launched an investigation into serious allegations involving potential juvenile victims. Detectives assigned to the Child Exploitation Squad of the Major Crimes Bureau are leading the investigation. While we will eventually be transparent about our findings, safeguarding the personal privacy and safety of victims and witnesses as well as maintaining the integrity of our criminal investigation are of paramount importance.

Saleeby is not the only CNN producer under scrutiny for their alleged attraction to minors. Earlier this month, CNN's John Griffin, who worked for the company for eight years, was arrested on three counts of using a facility of interstate commerce to attempt to entice minors to engage in unlawful sexual activity.
CNN has not commented on the allegations against Saleeby.

Former first lady Michelle Obama's Secret Service driver was charged with criminal harassment and witness intimidation in Massachusetts, court documents show.
Douglas Vines, 53, was arraigned last week in Edgartown District Court, CNN reported Wednesday.
A woman who had been dating Vines for about two months said he went "off the handle" when she decided she did not want to have sex with him, according to a report from the Oak Bluffs Police Department.
Edgartown and Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard, where the Obama's have a home.
Vines called and texted the women and said she was "messing with the wrong person," the police report stated.
He attempted to use his position as a driver for Obama to intimidate her "while attempting to get her to come back out and have sex with him," the report said.
The woman said Vines threatened to have her deported, the report states. He also allegedly said he had her DNA and could "ping" her cell phone and read her texts.
Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said the agency is "aware of the charges" and Vines is on administrative leave and he is unable to access his Secret Service equipment or agency facilities.
Vines' suspension "means he will be removed from President Obama's detail until the criminal component and our personnel investigation is concluded," Guglielmi also said.
