The painting of the current US president with blood on his face and the American flag now hangs in the Grand Foyer

The White House has put a dramatic painting of US President Donald Trump on display in a prominent spot in the Grand Foyer of the East Wing, replacing the official portrait of former President Barack Obama.

The new artwork depicts Trump with blood on his face and the American flag in the background, capturing the moment he raised a clenched fist after surviving a July 2024 assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The dramatic scene, showing Secret Service agents rushing to shield Trump as he gestures defiantly, became a defining image of his re-election campaign, echoing his call to "fight, fight, fight."

"Some new artwork at the White House ?," the administration posted on Friday via its official X account, sharing a short video of the painting.

The portrait, which is based on a picture taken by New York Times photographer Doug Mills,was created by artist Marc Lipp and donated by school safety advocate Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow was killed in the 2018 Parkland school shooting.

Some critics noted that the spot in the Grand Foyer is traditionally reserved for portraits of recent presidents.However, they acknowledged that Trump, being a former president himself, is not breaking with any official protocol.

Although Obama's portrait was moved to make way for the new painting, it remains on public display in another prominent location overlooking a Steinway grand piano once played by Franklin D. Roosevelt, White House spokesman Harrison Fields clarified.

"Obama remains in the Entrance Hall of the White House State Floor," Fields wrote on X. That location was previously occupied by George W. Bush's portrait, which has now reportedly been moved to the staircase area.

Right-wing lawmakers, pundits, and trolls have jumped on the moment in the vice presidential debate when Tim Walz said he was "friends with school shooters."

During the vice presidential debate on Tuesday night, Tim Walz misspoke and said he had "become friends with school shooters."

A quick search would haverevealed that Walz likely meant to say that he had become friends with the families of school shooting victims. He has repeatedly credited these families-including onstage Tuesday night-with changing his mind on gun control laws, helping him usher in some of America's most progressive gun safety laws during his time as governor of Minnesota.

But if you were to look at right-wing social media feeds on Tuesday night, you could be forgiven for thinking that Walz sympathized with the perpetrators of some of the worst mass shootings in American history.

Led by former president Donald Trump, right-wing news feeds lit up with out-of-context video clips, memes, and calls for Walz to be disqualified from running, as Trump, who opposes any sort of gun control laws, launched a disingenuous attack on the Democratic vice presidential candidate.

During the debate, both candidates were asked about school shootings and the fact that gun violence is the leading cause of death for children and teens in the US. Vance falsely blamed the prevalence of mental health issues and illegal immigrants for the gun violence crisis in America, and outlined once again why he opposes red-flag gun laws and legislation to ban certain semiautomatic rifles such as AR-15s.

When Walz spoke, he revealed that his own son had witnessed gun violence firsthand. "I think all the parents watching tonight, this is your biggest nightmare," Walz said. "I got a 17-year-old, and he witnessed a shooting at a community center playing volleyball. Those things don't leave you."

Walz, who has enacted red-flag laws, signed legislation to prohibit automatic-weapon-modification devices, and enhanced background checks to curb the spread of gun violence, explained how his viewpoint of gun control was impacted by meeting the families of school shooting victims.

"I sat in my office surrounded by dozens of the Sandy Hook parents, and they were looking at my 7-year-old's picture on the wall," said Walz. Their 7-year-olds were dead. And they were asking us to do something. And look, I'm a hunter. I own firearms. The vice president does. We understand that the Second Amendment is there, but our first responsibility is to our kids to figure this out."

"I sat in that office with those Sandy Hook parents," said Walz, adding: "I've become friends with school shooters. I've seen it."

The Harris-Walz campaign did not respond to a request from WIRED to clarify what Walz meant when he made this comment, but it appears likely he meant to say he had become friends with the families of school shooting victims, given his close relationship with many of them in recent years.

On the right, the gaffe was very quickly jumped on to push a disingenuous conspiracy that Walz, who has done more than many lawmakers in recent years to curb gun violence, was in some way compassionate toward school shooters.

"Did Tampon Tim just say he has 'become friends with school shooters?'" Trump wrote on Truth Social, using the nickname he has given Walz. "He isn't even qualified to be Governor, let alone Vice President. Walz and Kamala DO NOT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES!"

Trump then posted two videoclips of Walz making the comment and two graphics with Walz's picture alongside the quote about school shooters. Trump also shared a screenshot of a post on X from Andrew Pollack, the father of a victim of a school shooting, who wrote: "My daughter was killed in the Parkland school shooting. It's absolutely abhorrent that Tim Walz has befriended school shooters. Disqualifying." Pollack's post on X, which quotes a post from the official Trump War Room account, has been viewed 3.8 million times.

Moments later, Trump posted a meme of a mocked-up Trump-Vance yard sign with the tagline "Not Friends of School Shooters"-a meme that was originally posted to X by Laura Loomer, a close ally of Trump who has, until recently, been seen traveling with the former president to campaign events.

Loomer, an antisemitic, far-right troll, took the conspiracy further, asking: "Was @Tim_Walz friends with Thomas Matthew Crooks and Ryan Routh too?"-a reference to the men charged with attempting to assassinate Trump in recent months. Loomer also posted a mock-up poster for the sitcom Friends with the actors' faces replaced by Walz and a number of mass shooters.

(AP) - The families of most of those killed and wounded in the 2018 Florida high school massacre announced Monday have reached a multi-million dollar settlement with the federal government over the FBI's failure to stop the gunman even though it had received information he intended to attack.

Attorneys for 16 of the 17 killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland and some of those wounded said they have reached a monetary settlement with the government over the FBI's failure to investigate a tip it received about a month before the massacre. The 17th family chose not to sue.

The attorneys said the settlement's details are confidential, but a person familiar with the deal said the government will pay the families $127.5 million overall. The person requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the amount.

"It has been an honor to represent the Parkland families who, through their immeasurable grief, have devoted themselves to making the world a safer place," their lead attorney, Kristina Infante, said in a statement. "Although no resolution could ever restore what the Parkland families lost, this settlement marks an important step toward justice."

Andrew Pollack, whose 18-year-old daughter Meadow died in the shooting, commended the FBI for accepting responsibility for its inaction, comparing it to the Broward County school district and sheriff's office, the school security staff and the psychologists who treated the shooter. He believes they all failed to stop the shooter and have ducked responsibility.

"The FBI has made changes to make sure this never happens again," Pollack said.

Tony Montalto, whose 14-year-old daughter Gina died, said no settlement will "replace my bright, bubbly and beautiful daughter." He said that while other families celebrate Thanksgiving this week, Gina's chair will remain empty.

Both Montalto and Pollack said any money they receive will not replace their daughters.

Paul David Stern, the lead attorney defending the government, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

About five weeks before the Feb. 14, 2018, shooting, an FBI tip line received a call saying a former Stoneman Douglas student, Nikolas Cruz, had bought guns and planned to "slip into a school and start shooting the place up."

"I know he's going to explode," the caller told the FBI.

But that information was never forwarded to the FBI's South Florida office and Cruz was never contacted. He had been expelled from the school a year earlier and had a long history of emotional and behavioral problems.

Cruz, 23, pleaded guilty last month to 17 counts of first-degree murder. He will receive either a death sentence or life in prison after a penalty trial that is scheduled to start in January.

But according to a CBS report, violent extremists support the event:

District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine is preparing for another round of protests in the nation's capital next week, when supporters of President Trump are expected to travel to Washington to protest Congress' certification of Joe Biden's Electoral College victory in the 2020 presidential election.

"My level of anxiety is high. My preparation is even more intense than that," Racine told CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett in this week's episode of "The Takeout" podcast. Racine is worried the far-right, white supremacist group known as the "Proud Boys" will return to the District and "pick fights, create damage, damage property, and then act in a very threatening way" towards historic Black institutions in the city like the group did in mid-December 2020.

"[President Trump] literally really has given breath, fresh air and encouragement to hate groups. Hate is up dramatically since the president came into office," Racine added.

The upcoming rally also caused the closure of a hotel and bar in D.C. that is a popular gathering place for conservatives after pressure from activists claiming the Proud Boys controversial group would use the property as a base for illicit activities, including inciting violence from Antifa followers.

Antifa and Black Lives Matter activists have gathered at the BLM plaza D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser created as part of protests taking place across the country in recent months in the name of racial justice. Many downtown businesses remain shuttered and more are closing their doors after Bowser put new lockdown orders in place because of the coronavirus.

The Hill reported on the Harrington Hotel and Harry's, the hotel's popular bar, and the decision to shut down:

"Washington, D.C. has been our home for 106 years and we join with all of our guests, visitors, staff and neighbors in our concern and desire for everyone's health and safety," the statement read.

"We greatly appreciate the trust our guests have placed in Hotel Harrington over the years and we wish to continue to earn that trust," the statement continued. "While we cannot control what happens outside of the hotel, we are taking additional steps to protect the safety of our visitors, guests and employees."

DOJ Adviser Says 368,000 Fraudulent 'Excess Votes' Tipped Election to Joe Biden

John Lott, who was hired by the Justice Department in October as senior adviser for Research and Statistics at the Office of Justice Programs, has published a study concluding that as many as 368,000 "excess votes" tipped the election outcome to favor Joe Biden in two consequential battleground states.

"Increased fraud can take many forms: higher rates of filling out absentee ballots for people who hadn't voted, dead people voting, ineligible people voting, or even payments to legally registered people for their votes," reads the study's summary. "The estimates here indicate that there were 70,000 to 79,000 'excess' votes in Georgia and Pennsylvania."

The best estimate shows an unusual 7.81% drop in Trump's percentage of the absentee ballots for Fulton County alone of 11,350 votes, or over 80% of Biden's vote lead in Georgia. The same approach is applied to Allegheny County in Pennsylvania for both absentee and provisional ballots. The estimated number of fraudulent votes from those two sources is about 55,270 votes.

The study aimed to quantify how large of a problem voter fraud and other election irregularities were in the 2020 election. "The process is applicable to other states where precinct-level data is available on voting by absentee and in-person voting," explains the study's introduction.

Lott concludes that the discrepancies in absentee voting are not likely to have been caused by a shift by Democrats to vote absentee because of the pandemic, as the study controlled for in-person voting.

"In layman's terms, in precincts with alleged fraud, Trump's proportion of absentee votes was depressed - even when such precincts had similar in-person Trump vote shares to their surrounding countries," Lott explains. "The fact that the shift happens only in absentee ballots, and when a country line is crossed, is suspicious."

"The precinct level estimates for Georgia and Pennsylvania indicate that vote fraud may account for Biden's win in both states," Lott concludes.

Lott also looked at voter turnout rates in Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin, comparing counties where there was alleged fraud and those where there wasn't. When those states are included, Lott estimates that as many 289,000 fraudulent votes in the 2020 election were counted.

The study, called "A Simple Test for the Extent of Vote Fraud with Absentee Ballots in the 2020 Presidential Election: Georgia and Pennsylvania Data" was published on Tuesday.

Lott is considered a controversial figure by the left-wing media. He is the founder of the Crime Prevention Research Center, a pro-Second Amendment nonprofit, which has published studies concluding that communities with higher rates of gun ownership have lower rates of crime. Lott left the organization to serve in the Trump administration. Andrew Pollack, the father of Meadow Pollack, who was killed during the Parkland shooting in 2018, has since taken over as president of the organization.

But there are several problems with blaming a remedial disciplinary approach, particularly the one prescribed by the Obama-era guidance, for the Parkland shooting.

For one, Broward County Public Schools, of which Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is a part, adopted the approach before the Obama-era guidance was released, introducing its own PROMISE Program (Preventing Recidivism through Opportunities, Mentoring, Interventions, Supports, and Education) in 2013.

This framework did not mean the school district didn't punish the Parkland shooter for his disruptive and concerning behavior prior to the shooting. As the Washington Post reported, the shooter was sent to in-school suspension, received out-of-school suspensions, and was ultimately expelled a year before he carried out the shooting.

There were still, as Pollack noted, plenty of red flags that the authorities appeared to miss, including an explicit threat to carry out a school shooting from a YouTube account named after the shooter.

Still, it's difficult to blame the school's discipline policy for the shooting. But the attempts to do so fall under the standard playbook gun rights advocates have deployed in the aftermath of shootings: one that seeks to blame anything but America's loose gun laws.

Preview: President Trump reacts to the Democratic National Convention and previews the upcoming Republican National Convention in an exclusive interview with Fox News' Steve Hilton.

President Trump will not just be delivering an address on the final night of this week's Republican National Convention to accept his nomination for the presidential election – he will be appearing every night of the convention.


Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller confirmed the reports during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.

THE 2020 REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION: WHAT TO KNOW

"You'll have President Trump speaking at various parts of each of the nights," Miller said.

The Trump campaign announced the full roster of speakers for the convention on Sunday. The list shows that other members of the Trump family will appear each night, including first lady Melania Trump, the president's children: Ivanka, Tiffany, Donald Jr., and Eric – and Eric's wife Lara Trump.

Other speakers will include Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., former Ambassador Nikki Haley, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and UFC president Dana White.

Covington Catholic high school student Nick Sandmann, who was viciously smeared by the establishment media and has won settlements from the Washington Post and CNN, will speak at the Republican National Convention (RNC), Trump campaign and RNC officials confirmed to Breitbart News exclusively.

In addition to Sandmann, campaign and Convention officials confirmed to Breitbart News what the Washington Post reported previously, that the St. Louis couple Mark and Patricia McCloskey will speak at the RNC next week. In addition, Andrew Pollack-whose daughter Meadow was killed in the Parkland shooting at Stoneham Douglas High School in February 2018-will speak at the Convention, a Trump campaign official confirmed to Breitbart News. Abby Johnson, a former clinic director at Planned Parenthood who is now a leading pro-life activist, will also speak at the Convention, as will South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and GOP candidate for U.S. House and veteran Sean Parnell.

Sources familiar with the plans told Breitbart News that each of these cases-in particular, those of Sandmann, the McCloskeys, Pollack, and Johnson-illustrate the potentially disastrous consequences of Democrat governance.

When Sandmann-donning a red "Make America Great Again" hat-was with his classmates at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, a Native American activist, Nathan Phillips, began banging a drum in his face. Media coverage originally framed it as Sandmann being confrontational with Phillips, but full video of the incident that emerged later proved the opposite to be true. Sandmann has filed a number of lawsuits against a variety of establishment media outlets, and has won settlements from the Washington Post and CNN so far.

A GOP official told Breitbart News that Sandmann being on stage at the Convention will demonstrate the dangers of "cancel culture," something President Donald Trump delivered a blistering speech against on July 3 at Mount Rushmore in the lead-up to Independence Day. That's part of why Noem, the governor of South Dakota, is speaking at the convention, but also because of her response to the coronavirus pandemic. Noem was one of the few governors to resist lockdowns altogether, and her state's public health and economic pictures are faring much better than many Democrat-run states several months in.

The McCloskeys, meanwhile, received international attention as rioters stormed onto their property when they were marching through St. Louis. The couple appeared outside their home wielding firearms in a show of force to protect themselves and their property from the leftist mob bearing down on them.

Pollack's daughter Meadow was killed in the shooting in Parkland, a shooting that sparked the March for Our Lives, where several of the kids who survived, including David Hogg, became supporters of Democrats' push for gun control. Pollack, meanwhile, has sought to be much more of a voice of reason as he and his son-Meadow's brother Hunter Pollack-have sought to speak out for more common-sense solutions to violence than gun control.

Johnson was, for eight years a clinic director at Planned Parenthood, who left in 2009 and began speaking out against abortions and what happened inside Planned Parenthood clinics.

Parnell is the GOP nominee for Congress in Pennsylvania's 17th congressional district and will face off against Rep. Conor Lamb (D-PA) in November. Before he launched his congressional campaign, Parnell served as a U.S. Army Ranger Captain in the "Outlaw Platoon" for 485 days on the Afghan-Pakistan border.

Democrats in Minneapolis and Portland have vowed to kick police officers out of their schools. Other school districts are sure to follow suit.

If you live in a Democrat-run city, get your kids out now. Because I can tell from personal experience, if your kid gets murdered in school and you have a problem with it, they'll just call you racist and double down.

My daughter Meadow was murdered in the Parkland school shooting on February 14, 2018. There was a school resource officer on duty. He was a coward and hid. Not all cops are good men. Without a real policeman on duty, the shooter had 11 minutes in a building with 800 kids all to himself.

You probably know this part of the story.

What you might not know is what happened before and what happened next.

The media wanted to use Parkland as an opportunity to attack President Donald Trump and advance their gun control agenda. But as I explain in my book Why Meadow Died: The People and Policies that Created the Parkland Shooter and Endanger America's Students, the Parkland shooting wasn't caused by the Second Amendment. It was caused by identity politics.

The Democrat-run Broward school district blamed teachers and school resource officers for racial disparities in school discipline and arrests. So they formally decriminalized misdemeanors (three freebie misdemeanors a year, re-setting every year) and informally decriminalized felonies. They also tied school resource officers' hands and told school administrators to refuse to cooperate with local law enforcement.

The Parkland shooter committed many crimes in school: he threatened to kill, committed hate-crime assault, trespassed on school grounds after he got kicked out. No arrests. By design. No criminal record.

The school district lied to the public. They stonewalled the press. They threatened would-be whistleblowers. When Parkland parents started to learn the truth, they demanded accountability in a series of meetings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (MSD) with Broward superintendent Robert Runcie.

Shortly after that, the Broward school district announced a public meeting. Runcie's deputy sent an e-mail to local black church leaders telling them that the rhetoric they heard at MSD was "vile" stuff like they hadn't heard "since desegregation orders were enforced." It was a lie. When challenged, they provided no evidence to back their race-baiting claim.

But it worked. At the public meeting, hundreds of well-meaning black citizens showed up... and booed families of the victims. You can't really even blame them. On the one hand, they were booing grieving parents who were calling for accountability after failed policies and leadership got their kids murdered. But on the other hand, they were told that these grieving parents were really closeted segregationists.

Without school resource officers, more crimes will go unpunished. Without criminal records, more potential murderers will be able to get their hands on guns without a hitch (no matter how many new "background check" laws Democrats pass). And without cops, our "gun-free zone" schools will be soft targets.

If you live in a Democrat-run area and you are fine with rolling the dice with your kids' lives, then by all means, keep sending them to public school. But be prepared to be called a racist if your kid gets murdered in school and you have a problem with it.

Because for the left, #StudentsLivesDontMatter. No matter how many more kids die because of their identity politics ideology, they will never change course.

If your kid gets murdered, it will be a life-shattering tragedy for you as a parent. But for the left, it will be a whole new opportunity for them to advance their agenda.

The sporting goods conglomerate faced the specter of having to close upwards of 35 stores nationwide, yet they continued to stand their ground on gun control.

On March 13, 2019, Breitbart News reported that sales had dropped enough that Dick's was pulling all guns from 125 stores nationwide. Now the Fox 59 report makes clear that 440 other Dick's locations will see guns disappear, too.

On December 11, 2019, Business Insider reported Dick's CEO Ed Stack talk of how meeting with Parkland families shaped his gun control views. Two days later, Breitbart News reported that Parkland father Andrew Pollack-whose daughter, Meadow, was killed in the attack-made clear that Stack had never talked to him.

Pollack said, "Dick's CEO Ed Stack didn't meet with me. He is advocating for universal background checks which wouldn't have made a difference in my daughter getting murdered. Dick's will continue to go downhill and lose money under his leadership."

Crenshaw calls out Omar for describing 9/11 attacks as 'some people did something'

Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar is facing backlash after her speech at a Muslim rights group's event in which she described the September 11, 2001 terror attacks as "some people did something."

Omar spoke at a Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) fundraiser last month, where she called upon other Muslim Americans to "make people uncomfortable" with their activism and presence in the society and criticized the Jewish state.

But another part of the speech surfaced on social media earlier this week, in which Omar described the terror attacks perpetrated by al Qaeda.

"CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something, and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties," Omar said at the event.

The comments from the Minnesota freshman Democrat, still reeling from a number of anti-Semitic controversies, prompted Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw to slam Omar for her description of the terror attacks.

"First Member of Congress to ever describe terrorists who killed thousands of Americans on 9/11 as 'some people who did something,'" Crenshaw wrote in a tweet. "Unbelievable."

Others have also jumped on to criticize Omar's language, urging Democrats to condemn her remarks about the largest terror attack on U.S. soil that left nearly 3,000 people dead.

"9/11 terrorists & the terror attacks they conducted are described as simply 'some people did something'? Every Democrat should be asked by the media if they disavow @IlhanMN's statements. Every one of them," tweeted Andrew Pollack, father of a Parkland high school shooting victim.

"Ilhan Omar isn't just anti-Semitic - she's anti-American. Nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives to Islamic terrorists on 9/11, yet Omar diminishes it as: 'Some people did something.' Democrat leaders need to condemn her brazen display of disrespect," said GOP chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.

CAIR has been infamously listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in funding of Hamas, stemming from the case against the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development which led to millions of charitable dollars getting funneled to the Palestinian terrorist organization.

Omar's speech at CAIR in Southern California drew hundreds of protesters waving Israeli flags and denouncing the congresswoman's comments about Israel that were perceived as anti-Semitic.

She first came under fire for tweeting in 2012 that "Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel."

She then drew bipartisan uproar in February after she suggested politicians in the U.S. were bought by AIPAC, a non-partisan organization that seeks to foster the relationship between the U.S. and Israel.

Omar then reignited the controversy, saying groups supportive of Israel were pushing members of Congress to have "allegiance to a foreign country," echoing the anti-Semitic trope of dual loyalty.

Americans need to turn off their TVs and look into President Donald Trump on their own, said Andrew Pollack, the father of Meadow Pollack, who was slain in the Feb. 14, 2018, mass shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

"Stop watching TV. Turn CNN off and do your research," he told The Epoch Times in a phone call. "What has the president accomplished since he got into the White House?"

Since losing his 18-year-old daughter, Pollack has been an advocate for school safety, pushing to hold public officials responsible for the many actions and inaction that enabled the Parkland tragedy.
He's also been a supporter of Trump-not just as a president, but as a person too.
"The guy is a straight shooter. I like him as a person. He has integrity and he loves his country and he's a caring guy," Pollack said.

Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow was killed in the Feb. 14 shooting, now faces a restraining order after Andrew Medina asked for protection.

Medina claimed Pollack threatened him at a baseball field after learning Medina had reportedly allowed accused shooter Nikolas Cruz onto school grounds with a rifle bag.

"Everyone in this courtroom knows what a piece of garbage Andrew Medina is," Pollack said. "That's no secret. What I just wanted to see for myself at the community, that these parents would let this guy coach their kids, so I went to the park. There was no screaming."

The judge issued a restraining order but allowed Pollack to be present during Medina's deposition under the condition that it's done at the courthouse where deputies and metal detectors are present.

Pollack is now suing Medina for negligence.

TALLAHASSEE - Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday rescinded 46 appointments made by his predecessor Rick Scott in the final days of his administration, including Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow was killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.

Pollack, who has been vocal on school safety issues, was appointed to the Board of Education by the outgoing governor.

He appeared in a campaign ad for Scott during Scott's successful run for U.S. Senate last year and backed his approval of a bill adding school safety measures and restricting gun sales.

Among the other notable recalled appointees are Carlos Beruff and Tom Grady, both Scott loyalists.

The Gateway Pundit was among the first news organizations in the country to question the handling of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida by Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel. Now it appears Israel's time in that office will be drawing to a close.

From the instant it was learned that the Parkland School Resource Officer assigned to Parkland by the Broward County Sheriff's office (Scott Peterson) stood down and refused to enter the building while shooter Nikolas Cruz was still unloading clips into his classmates, Sheriff Scott Israel has insisted that the BSO officers who arrived on the scene did not delay their entry into the building.

New forensic evidence, animations by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and court proceedings have now proven that in addition to Peterson, six officers hid behind cars and delayed entry into the school for 11 precious minutes. The suffering from inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas could be heard as they stood by and did nothing. By the time BSO officers accompanied by the Coral Springs Police Department entered the building, Cruz had already left the premises. If the new report is correct, it means that the Broward County Sheriff's command staff members who testified for the FDLE inquiry flat-out lied.

Governor-elect Ron DeSantis vowed to fire Sheriff Israel during the campaign when he appeared with Andrew Pollack, father of slain student Meadow Pollack. 77 Florida House Republicans co-signed a letter calling on Governor Rick Scott to fire Israel, but he instead appointed the investigative commission in order to avoid controversy going into the US Senate election.

DeSantis recently reaffirmed his plans to can Israel in an interview with the Palm Beach Post, citing it as one of his top priorities once assuming power in early January.

Former Senator and Charlie Crist Chief of Staff George LeMieux is reportedly pushing DeSantis to appoint former Republican Sheriff Al Lamberti to the post. Voters rejected Mr. Lamberti in his failed 2012 re-election bid, where they instead sided with Republican-turned-Democrat Scott Israel. After Lamberti's departure, it was learned that he ordered the destruction of two BSO computer hardrives, which contained records regarding his relationship with ponzi-scammer and flamboyant Fort Lauderdale lawyer Scott Rothstein. Much like Hillary Clinton, Lamberti was not prosecuted. While Hillary's aides used bleach, Lamberti ordered a BSO deputy to use a hammer to destroy the evidence.

Sheriff Scott Israel Now Denies Knowing Shots Fired on Parkland Campus

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said in February that one of his deputies reported "shots fired" on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School campus but now says that deputy never got on the radio to advise that a shooting was underway.

In fact, the former deputy, Scot Peterson, stood outside Building 12 on the campus while the shooting occurred, and recordings of Peterson's radio communications reveal that he said, "Shots fired."

During an interview on February 25, 2018, Sheriff Israel told CNN, "One of Peterson's utterances on the radio, I think one or two times he actually said, 'Shots fired.'"

Israel went on to deny that there was more than one Broward County Sheriff's Office member at the school while the dispatcher was taking calls about the attack. But Andrew Pollack, father of Marjory Stoneman victim Meadow Pollack, posted recordings in which two other Broward County Sheriff's deputies are also heard radioing in "Shots fired":
