SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - Court documents reveal new information linking seven people to a sex sting at Fort Valley State University. One of the accused is the Hinesville City Manager, Kenneth Howard.
Howard is one of seven named in a Peach County indictment. He is charged with solicitation of sodomy and pandering.
Investigators say the incidents took place in October 2017. Indictments reveal Howard paid a woman for oral sex and convinced that same woman to have sex with others for money.
It goes on to say Howard had a similar arrangement with Alecia Johnson, the former executive assistant to the president at FVSU.
Johnson is charged with six counts of pimping allegations for allegedly providing a prostitute to each of the men, and six counts of prostitution on allegations that she performed and offered or consented to perform a sexual act for money.
Johnson is also charged with conspiracy to commit fiduciary theft after they say she tried to steal scholarship money.
Hinesville City officials released this statement in regards to the allegations against Howard:
"As previously released, Kenneth Howard has earned the trust and confidence of the Mayor and Council based on his record of exemplary service to the City of Hinesville. The misdemeanor allegations against several prominent supporters of Fort Valley State University, including Mr. Howard, do not diminish this confidence.
In the initial release, the Mayor and Council stated that they intended for Mr. Howard to "continue as City Manager pending final disposition of this matter so long as the affairs of the City are not adversely affected." As these misdemeanor allegations do not involve workplace conduct and are unrelated to Mr. Howard's job performance, the same statement is true today.
At this time, the Mayor and Council have not called a special called meeting to discuss this matter. If such a meeting is called, the public will be notified timely.
The Mayor and Council look forward to their continued work with Mr. Howard to improve the lives of Hinesville's residents, and trust that the judicial system will resolve this matter without significant delay."
