Zimbabwe has already applied for membership to the BRICS's New Development Bank, which is seeking to expand the use of local currency loans.
Zimbabwe's central bank said in its 2024 monetary policy statement, released last week, that it will be preparing a "structured roadmap to gradually promote the increased use of the new local currency."
For a start, it's making it compulsory for companies to settle at least half of their quarterly taxes in ZiG, according to the central bank report.
The African country has been trying to wean itself off the US dollar for years, with little success. The country has seen runaway inflation due to years of economic mismanagement under its former leader, Robert Mugabe.
At one point in 2008, annual inflation reached 500 billion percent, according to the International Monetary Fund.
Zimbabwe's government banned the use of foreign currencies as legal tender in 2019. The country's former central bank governor said at the time that the country's economy was "at the mercy of US dollar pricing, which has been a root cause of inflation," the BBC reported.
The country was forced, however, to reverse the ban in June 2022 to rein in inflation.
The government had initially planned to end the multi-currency system in 2025, but extended it until 2030.

UN: TIMELINE OF ABUSE
Many see the United Nations as a global organization working toward the noble goals of world peace and global justice. Yet, the UN's own actions demonstrate loud and clear the true purpose of the organization: to build a world government at the expense of the liberty and independence of its sovereign nation members.
The timeline below offers some of the proof of the deliberate abuse member countries have had to suffer because of United Nations intervention. Whistleblower reports point to UN peacekeeping troops raping and murdering women and children throughout the history of the UN.

Zimbabweans outraged by Al Jazeera expos? on gold smuggling elite
An Al Jazeera investigation exposed several individuals linked to the government who are involved in gold smuggling.
By Chris Muronzi 30 Mar 2023
Harare, Zimbabwe - Revelations of gold smuggling by individuals affiliated with Zimbabwean government officials and the ruling party in an Al Jazeera documentary have triggered outrage in the country.
The four-part documentary titled The Gold Mafia was filmed by Al Jazeera's Investigative Unit (I-Unit), based on dozens of undercover operations spanning three continents and thousands of documents.
It exposed how huge amounts of gold are clandestinely smuggled every month from Zimbabwe, Africa's sixth-largest gold producer, to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, aiding money laundering through an intricate web of shell companies, fake invoices and paid-off officials.
Uebert Angel, presidential envoy and ambassador-at-large to Europe and the Americas since March 2021, was secretly filmed bragging that he could move $1.2bn easily, due to his diplomatic immunity.
Other individuals filmed or named in the documentary as being part of smuggling rings include Zimbabwe Miners Federation President Henrietta Rushwaya - believed to be the niece of President Emmerson Mnangagwa - and Kamlesh Pattni, a businessman previously involved in a gold smuggling scandal in Kenya.
Pattni, who "knighted" Robert Mugabe as King of Kings in March 2012, handing over a black gown and gold crown to the late leader, still has strong connections to the ruling party.
In October 2020, Rushwaya was arrested at the Harare airport for attempting to smuggle gold to Dubai. Her case is still in court but the National Prosecuting Authority has said there is not enough evidence for a conviction.
Chris Mutsvangwa, spokesman for the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF), blamed the West for attempting to foment public anger through the documentary.
"The country's detractors, who coalesced aroundGeorge Soros and his Open Society Institute of Southern Africaare clearly miffed and terribly disappointed that Zimbabwe has reverted to and resurrected gold as the reference anchor of the US Dollar," said Mutsvangwa in a statement.
"Countries under sanctions have to find ways of circumventing the sanctions," government spokesman Nick Mangwana said in a tweet, drawing widespread criticism from users. "This may mean having to procure supplies through third parties or sell in grey market."

Furious with those who have not obeyed his Stalin-esque decrees regarding "vaccinations" (we now know the shots provide little or no immunity), he is threatening them with withdrawal of citizenship and permanent loss of fundamental human rights such as freedom of movement and the repeal of the right to decide what chemicals are introduced into your bloodstream. New Gates Foundation trustee led plot to overthrow Zimbabwean leader alongside US gov't
Listed as a US asset while spearheading Zimbabwean regime change plans, billionaire Strive Masiyiwa joins a cast of technocratic zealots on Gates' new board of trustees.
In a shake-up of an institution named for one of the world's wealthiest and most influential oligarchs, Zimbabwean billionaire Strive Masiyiwa was appointed to the Gates Foundation's board of trustees this January. He will be joined on the board by a seemingly diverse cast of corporate elites known for their embrace of technocratic and neoliberal policies.
Back in 2007, Masiryiwa helped orchestrate a failed attempt to overthrow the government of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe alongside the US and the Zimbabwean opposition party it was backing, the Movement for Democratic Transition.
Both the Central Intelligence Agency and the Defense Intelligence Agency were made aware of the regime change plans by the Zimbabwean telecom magnate Masiyiwa, and were advised by the US embassy in Pretoria, South Africa to share "elements" of the US government's "strategy" with him.
Masiyiwa was listed in US diplomatic cables at the time as "strictly protect," meaning he was an intelligence asset and/or confidential source.
Fifteen years since the plot fizzled out, Masiyiwa has materialized at the center of another global intrigue as tech billionaire Bill Gates rearranges his foundation.
Few figures have benefited as much from the pandemic as Bill Gates. Throughout 2020, legacy media described the former Microsoft CEO and Harvard dropout in near-messianic terms, characterizing him as a "champion of science-backed solutions," and "the most interesting man in the world."
While the global 99% has seen its economic power eviscerated under the weight of lockdowns and other Covid restrictions, Gates has doubled his wealth since a pandemic was declared in March 2020 by the World Health Organization that counts him as a top funder. Having boasted that his investments in vaccines routinely generated financial gains exceeding 2000 percent, Gates now has the opportunity to turn the entire global population into a profit center.
The world's fourth richest man has suffered several PR blows over the past year, however. Bad press over his divorce from Melinda French Gates and "questionable behavior" like his friendship with sex trafficking financier Jeffrey Epstein, as well as consternation over his refusal to share the intellectual property rights of vaccines with poor nations, appears to have inspired the Gates Foundation to announce the formation of a new board of trustees "to enhance representation across gender, geography, and expertise."
On Wednesday, Gates Foundation CEO Mark Suzman announced the foundation would be governed by a board of trustees beyond the trio of Gates, his ex-wife, Melinda, and 91-year-old billionaire Warren Buffet, who resigned in June 2021. Suzman, who aims to vaccinate 100 percent of the world's population - ostensibly with products Gates is invested in - also plans to join the board.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-myanmar-politics-lobbyist/lobbyist-says-myanmar-junta-wants-to-improve-relations-with-the-west-spurn-china-idUSKBN2AY0K0?
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An Israeli-Canadian lobbyist hired by Myanmar's junta said on Saturday that the generals are keen to leave politics after their coup and seek to improve relations with the United States and distance themselves from China.
Ari Ben-Menashe, a former Israeli military intelligence official who has previously represented Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe and Sudan's military rulers, said Myanmar's generals also want to repatriate Rohingya Muslims who fled to neighboring Bangladesh.
He said Suu Kyi, Myanmar's de facto leader since 2016, had grown too close to China for the generals' liking.
"There's a real push to move towards the West and the United States as opposed to trying to get closer to the Chinese," Ben-Menashe said. "They don't want to be a Chinese puppet."
President Joe Biden's administration has denounced the coup and imposed sanctions on the army and businesses it controls. A U.S. State Department official declined to comment.
Hundreds of thousands of people have protested in almost every town and city in Myanmar for weeks demanding the release of Suu Kyi and respect for the results of November's election, which the military says was marred by fraud.
Ben-Menashe said the junta could prove the vote was rigged, and that ethnic minorities were blocked from voting, but provided no evidence. Election observers have said there were no major irregularities.

White House Falsely Claims US Does Not Sanction World Leaders In Response to Criticism Over MbS
The US has sanctioned eight heads of state in previous three administrations
In defending the US decision not to take action against Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki falsely claimed that the US does not sanction foreign heads of state.
Psaki made the claim in an interview with CNN on Sunday when explaining why MbS was left out of a list of Saudis sanctioned for the Khashoggi killing. The sanctions were implemented after a newly released US intelligence report said the crown prince ordered the murder.
"Historically, and even in recent history, Democratic and Republican administrations, there have not been sanctions put in place for the leaders of foreign governments where we have diplomatic relations - and even where we don't have diplomatic relations," she said.
A CNN fact-check on Psaki's comments found that the previous three US administrations had sanctioned eight world leaders. President Trump slapped sanctions on Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
The administration of Barack Obama sanctioned North Korea's Kim Jong Un, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and then-Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. President George W. Bush imposed sanctions on Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, and former Myanmar leader Than Shwe.
Psaki slightly walked back the false claim at a press briefing on Monday. She said the US "has not typically sanctioned government leaders of countries where we have diplomatic relations." Including the caveat "not typically" makes the statement not an outright lie, but it is still misleading.
As far as not sanctioning countries the US has "diplomatic relations" with, of the eight leaders listed above, the US only had no diplomatic relations with Iran and North Korea when sanctions were imposed. The US cut diplomatic ties with Libya as it implemented the sanctions on Gadhafi.
Besides the false claim, Psaki's comments don't line up with the logic she used in earlier remarks. While MbS is the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia, his father, King Salman, is still technically the head of state. At a press briefing on February 16th, Psaki recognized that fact.
Psaki said reporters had asked her whether or not Biden would speak with MbS, but she insisted that King Salman was the appropriate contact for the president. "The President's counterpart is King Salman, and I expect that, in appropriate time, he would have a conversation with him," she said. President Biden ultimately spoke with King Salman on February 25th.

W.H.O. Calls for the Doctor as Coronavirus Hits Geneva Headquarters
In an unforeseen case of physician heal thyself, 65 World Health Organization (W.H.O.) headquarters staff in the Swiss lakeside city of Geneva have reportedly been laid low by an outbreak of the coronavirus.
The cases of the virus have been found amongst among staff, including five people who worked on the premises and were in contact with one another, an internal email obtained by The Associated Press shows.
AP reports the U.N. health agency is investigating how and where the five people became infected - and that it has not determined whether transmission happened at its offices.
W.H.O.'s confirmation Monday of the figures in the email was the first time it has publicly acknowledged the outbreak.
"To my knowledge, the cluster being investigated is the first evidence of potential transmission on the site of WHO," Dr. Michael Ryan, the agency's chief of emergencies, told reporters Monday after the AP reported on the internal email.
In normal times, an estimated 2,400 people regularly work at W.H.O.'s plush seven-story headquarters overlooking Geneva.
The outbreak comes as the organization continues to issue daily orders for the rest of the world to follow to keep the virus from spreading and follows a year of repeated criticism of its handling of the pandemic.
Embattled W.H.O. chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was warmly applauded Sunday by China's Communist regime. https://t.co/Gu6drtfcFl
- Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) May 24, 2020
So fierce have been the attacks on the W.H.O. in general and its chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in particular that as far back as April an online petition demanding Tedros resign passed one million signatures, as Breitbart News reported.
An anonymous Taiwan activist using the ID "Osuka Yip" launched the call, reflecting global concerns Tedros has been economical with the truth since the deadly virus it was first isolated in the southern Chinese city of Wuhan last November.
This is not the first time Tedros has drawn public criticism in his role.
In October 2017, he named former Zimbabwe tyrant Robert Mugabe a "goodwill ambassador" for W.H.O. to help combat non-communicable diseases in Africa, provoking outrage from medical professionals and human rights groups. As the New York Times noted:
The role of good-will ambassador is largely symbolic, but rights groups were scathing in their reaction to the symbolism of giving it to a man whose leadership, they say, has led to the collapse of its health service and major rights abuses in Zimbabwe.
Ultimately, Tedros rescinded his decision to name Mugabe "goodwill ambassador" in the wake of criticism.

Zimbabwe NGO: Mnangagwa's Rights Violations Worse than Mugabe's
The Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum published a report on Friday in which it claimed that human rights violations in the country under current President Emmerson Mnangagwa are worse than those carried out under former Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe.
The human rights forum is a union of 21 rights-based NGOs in Zimbabwe. The Forum's report cited human rights violations "recorded between April and September this year when the country was under strict Covid-19 [Chinese coronavirus] lockdown restrictions," New Zimbabwe noted on Friday.
"The [government's] promises of a 'new dispensation' have disappeared, and the patterns of misgovernance and human rights abuse that characterized Zimbabwe under Robert Mugabe's rule have re-emerged," the Forum stated in its report. These abuses have worsened since Mugabe left office in 2017, the group asserted, adding that "some of these violations can be characterized as crimes against humanity."
"Mugabe's regime saw the slaughter of an estimated 20,000 citizens in Matabeleland and Midlands provinces in the early 1980s and Operation Murambatsvina in 2005, among other difficult post-independence periods," New Zimbabwe recalled.
The newspaper noted that the recent human rights violations in Zimbabwe have occurred "within the context of Covid-19 [Chinese coronavirus], deepening poverty, and widespread hunger for the majority of Zimbabweans, and massive corruption that is bleeding the country of critical resources needed for the protection of its citizens."
The Forum condemned what it referred to as "the use of coercion on dissenting voices" in Zimbabwe. "The evident fragility of the country cannot be managed by the resort to coercion and rule by presidential decree," the human rights group argued in its report.
"Constitutionalism and the rule of law have been replaced by coercion and decree [in Zimbabwe]," according to the Forum.
"Zimbabwe is receiving increased pressure from the international community for reform, even concern from SADC [Southern African Development Community] countries and the African Union, in order to arrest the slide from fragile to failed state [sic]," the group revealed, adding "something must be done with urgency."
"The call for urgent action by the Forum comes only a day after opposition MDC Alliance deputy national chairperson, Job Sikhala appealed to the United Nations (UN) Security Council to immediately consider military intervention due to the political, economic and humanitarian crisis in the country," New Zimbabwe reported.

Zimbabwe Gives Land Back to White Farmers After Wrecking Economy

"Two decades after President Robert Mugabe wrecked Zimbabwe's economy by urging black subsistence farmers to violently force white commercial farmers and their workers off their land, his successor has thrown in the towel.
[snip] The seizures that began in 2000 were ratified by the government, which said they were needed to redress colonial imbalances. A vibrant agricultural industry that exported tobacco and roses and grew most of the food the nation needed collapsed. Periodic food shortages ensued, inflation became the world's highest and the manufacturing industry was decimated. What was one of Africa's richest countries became one of its poorest.
Almost 4,500 white-owned properties and others protected under government-to-government agreements were affected by the program."

"Let me assure you this case will continue on against anyone who was complicit with Epstein. Any co-conspirators should not rest easy". Despite assurances from Attorney General Bill Barr - who presides over prisons and justice in the U.S. - we are no closer to knowing the truth about Epstein, his money, or his crimes than we were the day he mysteriously died.
I've reported before that Epstein was an intelligence asset for Israel. This was confirmed by two independent sources. Now, one of those sources, a former senior member of the Israeli intelligence community, has gone on the record to confirm this about Epstein and is making significant claims about Epstein's human trafficking operation.
Ari Ben-Menashe is an Iranian-born Israeli consultant and former arms dealer who also served as a senior executive for Israel's Directorate of Military Intelligence (1977 to 1987). This puts Ben-Menashe in a unique position to know about Epstein and also Ghislaine Maxwell. He met them both 40 years ago, when Ben-Menashe when he worked for Israel alongside Maxwell's father, Robert Maxwell.
Robert Maxwell was a British media baron turned KGB and Mossad spy. He fell to his death from his yacht "The Lady Ghislaine" under mysterious circumstances in 1991.
In the '80s, Ben-Menashe and Robert Maxwell ran a covert Israeli operation transferring arms to Iran in what became known as the Iran-Contra Affair. That's how Ben-Menashe says he first met Jeffrey Epstein. According to Ben-Menashe, Maxwell wanted to include Epstein in his arms-dealing operation.
I have vetted the portions of the interview included below as best I can, but in a world which is all about subterfuge, there is no way of knowing if what he is saying is true. Nor can I determine if Ben-Menashe's motives are to influence the narrative. He is a consultant for various countries including Russia and South Sudan and worked with Zimbabwe's late Robert Mugabe. He claims he conducted this interview freely and not on behalf of any clients.

Guy was arrested for opposing current Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Mnangagwa took over for Mugabe after Mugabe lost ZANU-PF's support.
A UN report accused him of plundering diamonds when Zimbabwean troops intervened during the civil wars in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the late 1990s. In 2002 he seized a farm near Kwekwe whose owner, Koos Burger, told me in a telephone call from Florida that he sought political asylum in the US after receiving death threats. Mnangagwa is thought to have masterminded the theft of the 2008 presidential election, from which Morgan Tsvangirai was forced to withdraw in order to halt the slaughter of his supporters. Today he is said to control the lucrative gold industry in his home region, the Midlands, where he is known as "The Godfather".

Zimbabwe Threatens to Expel 'Thug,' 'Uncle Tom' U.S. Ambassador
A spokesman for the ruling leftist party of Zimbabwe, Patrick Chinamasa, insulted U.S. Ambassador to Zimbabwe Brian Nichols in a screed Monday in which he referred to the diplomat as a "thug" and an "Uncle Tom."
The ruling Zanu-PF party - the party of late dictator Robert Mugabe - has panicked in response to dissidents organizing a major protest against President Emmerson Mnangagwa for July 31, arresting protest organizers and claiming that American officials were secretly behind any domestic discontent. Zimbabweans have expressed outrage for the past several months at Mnangagwa's government for overtly participating in corruption, erupting particularly against the nation's former health minister after his arrest for being involved in a $60 million corruption scheme.
Public unrest allowed the military to depose Mugabe in 2017 and return Mnangagwa from exile. Mnangagwa had fled the country after an internal power struggle with Mugabe's wife, "Gucci" Grace.
Like much of Africa, the Chinese coronavirus pandemic has caught Zimbabwe's weak healthcare infrastructure off guard, resulting in reports of health workers lacking sufficient supplies to do their jobs and suspicions that the virus is much more widespread in the national population than the low number of coronavirus tests would indicate. At press time, Zimbabwe's government has documented 2,704 cases of Chinese coronavirus and 36 deaths.
Chinamasa unleashed on Nichols during a press conference Monday, blaming him and America for growing unrest in the country.
"Concerning the machinations and antics of the U.S. Ambassador Brian Nichols and a coterie of gangsters and mercenaries who are disguised as diplomats, I want to warn them and remind them that it is high time they get to know that Zimbabwe is a sovereign republic and we are a full sovereign State," Chinamasa said, according to New Zimbabwe. "If he continues to undermine the republic, mobilizing, and funding disturbances coordinating violence and training in insurgency, our leadership will not hesitate to give him marching orders."
"Diplomats should not behave like thugs and Brian Nichols is a thug," Chinamasa added, warning "Don't dare Zimbabwe. We are waiting for you. Zimbabwe is not one of the states or provinces that make the United States of America."

Zimbabwe Sees Child Marriage Boom During Coronavirus Lockdown
Zimbabwean girls face increased risk of sexual exploitation, including child marriage, due to economic hardship and closed schools during the coronavirus pandemic, South African NGO Gender Links reported Monday.
"Poverty has been worsened in communities [due to economic shutdowns during the pandemic] and some families can opt to sacrifice their daughters [to child marriage] ... it will save them from the hunger and other economic woes brought by the pandemic," Zimbabwe's Parliamentary Chairwoman on Education, Priscilla Misihairambwi Mushonga, told Gender Links.
The number of child marriages in Zimbabwe has increased during the pandemic, and "there [have been] many girls being married off, however, with few being reported," Mushonga says. Teenage pregnancies across the country are also "on the rise," she added.
Zimbabwe ordered schools closed this year in a bid to curb the spread of coronavirus, forcing many young girls who normally sought "refuge" from abusive households to remain trapped at home indefinitely, increasing their risk of sexual abuse, according to the report.
"The deepening poverty owing to loss of livelihoods brought about [by the pandemic]" combined with "perennial droughts in Zimbabwe's Matabeleland South Province, are driving a number of families to marry off their under-age daughters," the report states.
Zimbabwe technically outlawed child marriages in 2016, though the recent increase in the practice indicates that many in the country ignore the official ban.
Whistleblowing journalist Hopewell Chin'ono, who has openly criticized the practice of child marriage in Zimbabwe, was arrested this week after upsetting the Zimbabwean government by reporting on the Health Ministry's corrupt procurement of coronavirus medical supplies, New Zimbabwe reported Monday.
Chin'ono's reporting on the alleged fraud within Zimbabwe's Health Ministry led authorities to open an investigation into Health Minister Obadiah Moyo. Police arrested Moyo in mid-June "on allegations of corruption regarding a $60-million deal to procure [coronavirus] test kits and medical equipment." Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa then fired the health minister in early July for "conduct inappropriate for a government minister," South Africa's News24 reported.
Police also arrested Jacob Ngarivhume, the leader of the minor opposition party Transform Zimbabwe, on Monday on the same charges as Chin'ono: "inciting public violence." Ngarivhume had been organizing an anti-government protest for July 31, Voice of America Zimbabwe reports.
Following news of Chin'ono and Ngarivhume's arrests on Monday, Zimbabwe's opposition MDC party accused the state of "persecuting a journalist for exposing government corruption." A Zimbabwe government official later responded to this allegation by tweeting that journalists were "not above the law," the BBC reported.
"[T]he incident comes at a time of rising tensions in Zimbabwe, with hyperinflation strangling the economy, and talk of a new round of mass protests against Zanu-PF, the party that has run the country since independence," BBC Africa notes.
"Zimbabwe's government promised reforms and economic growth after former President Robert Mugabe was ousted from power three years ago," the news outlet writes. "But critics say it has reverted to its old habits of repression and corruption."

Obama fundraiser schmoozing Mugabe and Zanu PF for business deals
On Jun 28, 2013
By LIONEL FAULL, WONGAI ZHANGAZHA
A major Chicago fundraiser for United States President Barack Obama has been schmoozing senior Zanu-PF figures, including President Robert Mugabe, in the hope of winning business deals from the Zimbabwe government.
In return, amaBhungane understands, senior Zimbabwean security force members have been looking to the fundraiser,real-estate tycoon Elzie Higginbottom, to help the country to wriggle off the hook of targeted US sanctions.
Internal Zanu-PF documents seen by amaBhungane suggest that the Zimbabwean military was keen to enter into negotiations with Higginbottom to form a joint-venture diamond mining company in 2011.
Higginbottom's vast property portfolio has been "conservatively" valued at $200-million by the Chicago Tribune. Campaign finance records indicate that he and his wife contributed $400 000 to Obama's campaign war chest between 2008 and 2012 and donated generously to both Obama inaugurations.
Higginbottom's largesse has catapulted him into a super-category of party political funders in the US popularly referred to as "bundlers" (see "Support in bundles").
Zimbabwe security forces apparently saw the participation of Americans in the Chiadzwa diamond fields near Marange as key to avoiding further action by a "hostile" US government to restrict the Zimbabwe diamond trade.
The security forces also hoped that a delegation of Chicago businessmen led by Higginbottom would lean on key members of the Obama administration to reverse, or ease, US sanctions against senior Zanu-PF figures.
The sanctions, administered by the US treasury's Office of Foreign Asset Control (Ofac), prohibit US citizens from engaging in "any transactions with any person, entity or organisation" on a list of "specially designated nationals".

Ex-U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds: I Was Tortured in Africa
August 22, 2019
Alleging he "was subject to physical and psychological torture" in an African prison five years ago, thrice-convicted former Congressman Mel Reynolds has sued the deposed dictator of Zimbabwe and a prominent Chicago businessman in federal court here.
In a complaint obtained by WBEZ, Reynolds says his travails in Africa in February 2014 left him with "severe permanent physical" injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder, and he argues that he should get $35 million for his suffering.
Among a long list of defendants named in Reynolds' suit, which was filed Tuesday, are several Zimbabwean officials, including Robert Mugabe - the 95-year-old politician who reigned over the country for decades, until he lost power in 2017 - and politically connected real-estate developerElzie Higginbottom.
Higginbottom had paid the former Democratic congressman to help him develop business in Zimbabwe. But Higginbottom testified for federal prosecutors in Reynolds' 2014 trial on misdemeanor tax charges for hiding income from his work in Africa. That case led to Reynolds' third criminal conviction.
A Rhodes Scholar who was once seen as a rising star in Chicago politics, Reynolds was forced from Congress in 1995 after he was convicted for havingsex with a 16-year-old campaign worker.

IL Says Casino Queen Can't Stay Open 24 Hours
By AP/KWMU
Chicago, ILl. - The Illinois Gaming Board has rejected a request by the Casino Queen to stay open 24 hours.
Currently, the Casino Queen is open 22 hours. Illinois law allows 24-hour gambling, but the board must approve changes in hours.
Casino Queen director Michael Gaughan said the casino "is about two feet of water away from temporary closing" and wanted expanded gambling hours to compete with Missouri casinos, which are open all day.
"We are about two generations behind now," he said. "We are doing our best to stay proactive in this market today."
Jeannette Tamayo, interim board administrator, said the Gaming Board did not have enough staff members to supply agents at the casino if it were open 24 hours.
"We barely have enough staffing right now," she said.

Deep state doctor Fauci and corrupt WHO boss Tedros back the Communist regime's propaganda.
Last week, Dr. Anthony Fauci of the White House coronavirus task force came out against opening up the American economy and sending the kids back to school in September. That touched off pushback from Sen. Rand Paul, a medical doctor, and President Trump, who for the first time publicly disagreed with Fauci. The president and his supporters, particularly those still unemployed due to Fauci's lockdown policies, might check out Dr. Tony's take on World Health Organization director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. "Tedros is a really outstanding person," Fauci said in late March. "I've known him from the time that he was the minister of Health of Ethiopia." Trouble was, the worshipful Dr. Fauci provided no detail on Tedros' fascinating back story.
Tedros has long been affiliated with the Marxist Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), responsible for atrocities against the Amhara ethnic group in northwest Ethiopia. Tedros earned a bachelor's degree in biology in 1986, but never completed medical studies to become a physician. During his tenure as Ethiopia's health minister from 2005-2012, Tedros purposely covered up cholera outbreaks in 2006, 2009, and 2011. The next year, as Ethiopia's minister of foreign affairs, Tedros strengthened his country's ties to Communist China, which has loaned more than $13 billion to Ethiopia. In December 2014, Tedros and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi co-authored an op-ed hailing the close bonds between the two countries. In 2017, Tedros became the first WHO boss not qualified as a medical doctor. One of Tedros' first actions was to name Zimbabwe's Marxist tyrant Robert Mugabe as a goodwill ambassador for the WHO. In 2019, when the coronavirus hit, the WHO mirrored the policies of Communist China. In late January, 2020, after a trip to Beijing, Tedros said China's actions "actually helped prevent the spread of coronavirus to other countries," and the WHO boss was "very impressed and encouraged by the president's [Xi Jinping] detailed knowledge of the outbreak." Tedros' actions, in turn, duly impressed Dr. Tony Fauci. "He has been all over this," Fauci said. "I was on the phone with him a few hours ago leading a WHO call." That was in March, and back in January, Fauci told reporters that China was being more transparent than it had been during the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak of 2003. According to Fauci, "This time around from my perception they look like they're being quite transparent." To all but the willfully blind, they weren't.
Fauci earned a medical degree in 1966, but without advanced degrees in molecular biology he is not a virologist in the league of Luc Montagnier or David Baltimore, among others. At the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Fauci made a name for himself with the claim that AIDS would ravage the heterosexual community. That turned out to be wrong, and for background see The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS, by Michael Fumento, and Inventing the AIDS Virus by Peter Duesberg of UC Berkeley, who is a virologist and molecular biologist. Dr. Anthony Fauci's shaky relationship with facts continues during the current pandemic. In January Fauci said it was unclear whether the coronavirus could spread person to person and cited a very low risk to the United States. Dr. Fauci said people need not wear masks and then contended they should. No more shaking hands, but according to Dr. Fauci it's okay to have sex with strangers you meet online.

On 21 October 2017 the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus appointed Zimbabwe's president Robert Mugabe as a WHO goodwill ambassador to help tackle non-communicable diseases for Africa. The appointment address praised Mugabe for his commitment to public health in Zimbabwe. The naming attracted widespread condemnation in WHO member states and international organisations due to Mugabe's poor record on human rights and presiding over a decline in Zimbabwe's public health. Following widespread criticism, Tedros Adhanom was forced to withdraw the appointment the next day.

Tedros Helped Beijing Hide the Severity of the Chinese Coronavirus Outbreak
On January 14, months after health officials are believed to have detected the first case of the virus in China on November 17 of last year, the WHO was promoting a Chinese claim via Twitter that there was "no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission." Meanwhile, the disease was spiraling out of control. The WHO tweet came a day before the first case to reach the United States reportedly flew from Wuhan to the state of Washington.
Tedros is Not a Medical Doctor
The WHO director holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Community Health from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom and a Master of Science (MSc) in Immunology of Infectious Diseases from the University of London. China reportedly supported Tedros's rise to lead the WHO in 2017, even though he was not trained as a medical doctor.
The WHO Director is a Member of the Leftist Tigrayan People's Liberation Front (TPLF)
As a member of the violent and powerful communist Ethiopian political party known as the Tigrayan People's Liberation Front (TPLF), Tedros rose through Ethiopia's autocratic regime as health (2005-2012) and foreign minister (2012-2016). Analysts, reportedly including American government officials, have listed the TPLF in the Global Terrorism Database.
When it came to power in 1991, TPLF was in the vanguard of that year's overthrow of Ethiopia's military regime under dictator Col. Mengistu Haile Mariam. TPLF played a role in Ethiopia's 1980s famine a few years after launching its protracted rebellion against the military government in 1975. The party is also reportedly linked to other gross human rights violations.
Tedros Helped Indebt Ethiopia to China
Ethiopia has borrowed billions from China, reportedly including more than $13 billion during Tedros' tenure as foreign minister between 2012 and 2016.
An editorial published by the Hill in mid-March pointed out:
We note China's connections to Tedros's homeland of Ethiopia, now called East Africa's 'Little China' because it has become China's bridgehead to influence Africa and a key to China's Belt and Road initiative there. Indeed, China has invested heavily in Ethiopia.
Citing the coronavirus threat last month, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed issued asked the international community for immediate debt relief. China has become Ethiopia's largest trading partner, thanks in part to Beijing's' investments in the African country while Tedros was foreign minister.
Tedros named Robert Mugabe a WHO 'goodwill ambassador'
In October 2017, Tedros named Mugabe a "goodwill ambassador" to help combat non-communicable diseases in Africa, provoking outrage from medical professionals and human rights groups. At the time the New York Times noted:
The role of good-will ambassador is largely symbolic, but rights groups were scathing in their reaction to the symbolism of giving it to a man whose leadership, they say, has led to the collapse of its health service and major rights abuses in Zimbabwe.

The toothbrush moustache is a moustache style that is shaved at the edges, leaving three to five centimeters of facial hair above the center of the lip. The sides of the moustache are vertical (or nearly vertical) rather than tapered, giving the moustache hairs the appearance of toothbrush bristles that are attached to the nose. It was made famous by such comedians as Charlie Chaplin and Oliver Hardy. The style first became popular in the United States in the late 19th century-from there it spread to Germany and elsewhere-reaching a height of popularity in the inter-war years, before becoming unfashionable after World War II due to its association with German Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
Other names for this style of moustache include: the Hitler, Charlie Chaplin, 1/3, philtrum moustache, postage stamp, and soul stache.[citation needed]

Spying on Everyone in the World: Bitcoin and the Orwellian Warning
A piece in Time plots the plight of Venezuelan refugees streaming into Colombia after watching their national currency, the bolívar, dissolve into toilet paper.
Penned in 2018 by Alex Gladstein, the chief strategy officer at the Human Rights Foundation, the article analyzes how hyperinflation and authoritarian governments push radical alternatives to the foreground.
Writes Gladstein,
"Venezuela isn't the only place where people can use Bitcoin as an escape valve. In Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe printed endless amounts of cash and inflated the savings of his citizens into nothing, but his successors can't print more bitcoin.
In China, Xi Jinping can track all of your transactions on Alipay and WePay, but he cannot orchestrate mass surveillance on all Bitcoin payments. In Russia, Vladimir Putin can target an NGO and freeze its bank account, but he can't freeze its Bitcoin wallet."

Zimbabwe Stops Issuing Passports As Cash Shortage Hits Crisis Levels
According to Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the reintroduction of the Zimbabwean dollar (which was officially abandoned a decade ago), the banning of the use of other international currencies, and the resulting hyperinflation (analysts are already forecasting a 100% inflation rate for 2019) are simply important steps to "restoring normalcy to our economy."
But as anybody who has lived in, or visited, Zimbabwe over the past couple of decades, "normal" isn't exactly a high bar. Considering that, under ex-leader Robert Mugabe, the Zim dollar once depreciated to 35 quadrillion per $1 (transforming the wheelbarrow into an essential tool for facilitating routine, every-day transactions like buying groceries), we'd think Zimbabweans are looking for something different, rather than a return to the country's insanely dysfunctional status quo.
One economist last week tagged Zimbabwe's present real rate of inflation at nearly 500%, as Zimbabwe's economy slides back into crisis and its currency rapidly depreciates against the dollar.
Of course, Mnangagwa's decision to revive the hated Zim dollar might be more pragmatic than it first appears: After all, South Africa banks had largely cut Zim off from the country's most stable supply of American dollars (the de facto currency of choice for Zimbabweans hoping to protect their wealth), so Mnangagwa's decision to 'ban' the greenback might be the political equivalent of shouting 'you can't fire me because I quit!' at a former employer.
But regardless of the government's motives, this doesn't change the fact that Zimbabweans have been struggling with shortages of cash, fuel and electricity for months. And now, the country's 'everything shortage' is impacting the hopes and dreams of any Zimbabwean who still harbors hopes of leaving Zimbabwe.
That's right: Zimbabwe's government is so broke, the company that prints its passports is refusing to supply any new booklets until the government has taken care of its debts.
Here's more from Bloomberg:
Now, even passports are almost impossible to get.
Tendai Mpofu applied for new passports for his sons more than two months ago. Their current ones expire this month, just when they're due to travel to South Africa for a school sports event. It may be a long wait before they get new documents.
With inflation at almost 100% and an acute lack of foreign currency, Zimbabwe is facing its worst economic crisis in more than a decade. While President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said that the passport company is refusing to print anything until the government has cleared its debts, others say Zimbabwe is simply too broke to import the ink and paper needed.
And it's not only passports that are in short supply: The government is also running out of the cheap plastic it uses to print ID cards.
An official at the passport office said the situation is "dire" and passports were only being issued for emergencies. Identity cards are also hard to come by - metal cards were replaced with plastic ones but now plastic is in short supply.
No need to panic, though - the government has the (admittedly dire) situation under control.
Home Affairs Minister Cain Mathema told the state-run Herald newspaper recently that things will improve and that the government was "working on it."

Obama Appointees in the Communist Orbit
Obama choose Communists and Marxists for the highest, most powerful positions in our land, including his closest political advisors, and his head of the CIA. These facts are not in dispute. Most are openly admitted by the people in question, as necessary damage control. Our press chooses not to report them.
James Comey
"I'd moved from Communist to whatever I am now. I'm not even sure how to characterize myself politically. Maybe at some point, I'll have to figure it out."
John Brennan
Brennan (who was sworn in as CIA director on a draft of the US Constitution, without the Bill of Rights, instead of a Bible) said that while he had voted Communist, he wasn't an official member of the Communist Party - and was relieved that he had been accepted into the CIA.
Barack Hussein Obama
His Kenyan father was a communist, who met Obama's mother, a radical leftist, in a Russian language class. Stanley Dunham, Obama's white grandfather, chose a notorious member of the Communist Party to be Obama's mentor, Frank Marshall Davis.
Obama wrote in his memoir that in college, he sought out Marxist professors. A Marxist student at Occidental College, John Drew, confirms that Obama was a revolutionary Marxist in college.
Valerie Jarrett
"Her late father, James E. Bowman.. was involved with communist front groups and was in contact with a paid Soviet agent in the 1950s who was wanted for espionage. Jarrett's maternal grandfather, Robert Rochon Taylor, was investigated by the FBI for his membership in communist groups and his business relationship with the same Soviet agent ...Her late father-in-law, Vernon D. Jarrett, was assigned by the Communist Party USA to a special cultural arts cell ...he was flagged by the FBI as an internal security risk to be swiftly arrested in the event of a hot war with the Soviet Union. The FBI also investigated his wife, Fernetta "Fern" Jarrett, for communist activities."
David Axelrod
His mother worked for a communist newspaper. His father, according to Axelrod in his memoir, "listed his party affiliation as 'Communist.' Axelrod got his start in Chicago politics through working for hardline Stalinist Soviet agents Harry and David Canter.
Susan Rice
Rice wrote a 426-page dissertation praising, as "a model and a masterpiece in the evolution of international peacekeeping," ... the political ascendancy of Zimbabwe's Marxist dictator, Robert Mugabe. In her dissertation, Rice lauded Mugabe as a "pragmatic, intelligent, sensible, gentle, balanced man" who possessed considerable "patience and restraint."
David Maraniss
The Washington Post journalist chosen to write Obama's biography, which covered up Obama's radical past, was also a red diaper baby. He father was a member of the Communist Party and worked through a cell in Detroit to secretly influence workers through his articles for the Detroit Times.
Frank Marshall Davis
The biggest influence on Obama's black identity from age ten through college years, was a card-carrying member of the Communist party.
Reverend Jeremiah Wright
Obama's pastor and personal hero and mentor, was an avowed Marxist. His church congregants had to sign a pledge to support redistribution of wealth and reject 'middleclassness.'
'''Is it any surprise that collusion with Russia, according to Victor David Hanson, was a feature of the Obama presidency?
The Obama administration colluded with Rusian agents who produced the Steele Dossier. It was paid for by Clinton, but it was Obama's minions at the FBI, CIA and White House who weaponized this soviet disinformation against President Trump.
We are all victims of the Obama cabal's collusion with Russia - President Trump's voters and all Americans who believe in our free and fair election process.'''

Trump Admin Pays 10 Billion a Year To UN...It's Time To Cut That in Half!
Recently the Council of Foreign Relations produced a report where they detailed the U.S. contribution to the United Nations and it's endless entities, funds and programs.
The United States remains the largest donor to the United Nations, contributing more than $10 billion in 2017, roughly one fifth of the UN's collective budget. This amount also represents roughly one-fifth of the $50 billion the United States allocates to Department of State and spends annually on foreign aid.
In 1994, Amb. John Bolton said that if the United Nations Secretariat building in New York "lost 10 stories, it wouldn't make a bit of difference."
Anthony Banbury, an american and a former assistant U.N. secretary general, wrote an op-ed for NY Times explaining why he resigned his job. "I was unprepared for the blur of Orwellian admonitions and Carrollian logic that govern" U.N. headquarters, he recalled:
"If you locked a team of evil geniuses in a laboratory, they could not design a bureaucracy so maddeningly complex, requiring so much effort but in the end incapable of delivering the intended result. The system is a black hole into which disappear countless tax dollars and human aspirations, never to be seen again."
Bret Stephens, a columnist at NY Times wrote that: "The U.N. adopted what were supposed to be landmark reforms more than a decade ago. Yet the mismanagement, corruption, abuses and moral perversities remain. Iran sits on the executive board of the Commission on the Status of Women. The Syrian regime is represented on the U.N.'s Special Committee on Decolonization, dedicated to "respect for self-determination of all peoples." In October, Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe was named a good-will ambassador by the World Health Organization, until an outcry forced the director general to think better of it."
President Donald J. Trump, however, has raised questions about how much the United States will continue to contribute. In his 2018 budget proposal, President Trump requested cutting more than half of U.S. funding for UN programs, including all contributions to climate change programs. But Congress largely rejected Trump's proposed cuts, instead it agreed to enforce a congressionally mandated cap on U.S. contributions to the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) that had been waived since 2001. The measure reduced U.S. contributions from 28 to 25 percent of the DPKO's budget, which could amount to a more than $200 million decrease in 2019.
In his 2018 speech at the UN General Assembly, Trump said, "The United States is committed to making the United Nations more effective and accountable...Only when each of us does our part and contributes our share can we realize the U.N.'s highest aspirations."
Maybe is time that John Bolton advises the President Trump to consider reducing the US contribution to UN by at least 50%.

The Latest: Zimbabwe police arrest leader of largest union
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS HARARE, Zimbabwe - Jan 21, 2019, 8:01 AM ET
The Latest on Zimbabwe's ongoing protests and turmoil. (all times local):
3:00 p.m.
A spokesman for Zimbabwe's largest trade union said police have arrested the secretary general of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions, Japhet Moyo.
He was arrested at the airport in Harare on Monday and lawyers are checking with police to see why. His organization had called for last week's nationwide strike to protest the government's action to more than double the price of fuel. The strike and protests sparked off a government crackdown in which 12 people were killed, according to human rights groups. More than 600 people, including opposition members of parliament, have been arrested in connection with last week's protests. The labor federation called for last week's job stay away.
---
Zimbabwe's capital is returning to normal Monday, after a week of turmoil in which Zimbabweans protested dramatic fuel price hikes and government security forces launched a crackdown in which 12 people were killed.
Most shops and businesses have reopened, although many people are stocking up on food items in case the country faces further unrest.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to return to the country late Monday, after announcing Sunday that he will skip attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He is in Kazakhstan, after visiting Russia last week.
Mnangagwa had been under growing pressure to return from a two-week overseas visit as accounts emerged of abuses by security forces, including dozens of people wounded by gunfire and others hunted down in their homes and severely beaten. Zimbabwe has seen days of unrest since Mnangagwa made an announcement more than doubling fuel prices that made the struggling country's gasoline the most expensive in the world.
Indicating the severity of Zimbabwe's economic problems, South Africa confirmed that it turned down Mnangagwa's request for a loan of $1.2 billion recently. "We just don't have that kind of money," South African treasury spokesman Jabulani Sikhakhane told the broadcaster, eNCA.
Zimbabwe's courts are on Monday to hear two cases related to the government's ongoing clampdown on dissent. The High Court will hear a challenge to the government's suspension of internet services. Although internet service has been restored after a nearly week-long blackout, social media outlets such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Facebook are still jammed. The government has said its action is to prevent Zimbabweans from organizing violent protests.
The blockade "has caused serious inconveniences, loss of business and income, threats to life and the right to health care as people are not able to access vital communication relating to their medication," said the court application by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights and the Media Institute of Southern Africa, which urged the court to rule that the government should lift its restrictions.
In a separate court case, the lawyer for activist and pastor Evan Mawarire is trying to get him released on bail. In jail since Wednesday, he has been charged with subversion against the government for which he faces 20 years in jail if convicted. Mawarire had used social media to support peaceful protests against the fuel price increases. The case against Mawarire is a "travesty of justice" said his lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa.
In the widespread crackdown, more than 600 people have been arrested of which more than 400 have been denied bail, said Mtetwa.
When Mnangagwa tweeted Sunday that he would cut short his European trip and to come back to Zimbabwe he didn't mention the violence, saying only that he is returning "in light of the economic situation." He said his first priority "is to get Zimbabwe calm, stable and working again."
At Davos, he planned to appeal for foreign investment and loans, but the visit had been expected to be a challenge. His Davos visit a year ago came shortly after he took over from longtime, repressive leader Robert Mugabe, a move cheered by Zimbabweans and the international community.
But Mnangagwa has faced a year of troubles in which his administration failed to improve the collapsed economy, narrowly won a disputed election and violently put down anti-government protests.
The Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops' Conference last week lamented the government's "intolerant handling of dissent" and its failure to halt economic collapse, concluding that "our country is going through one of the most trying periods in its history."

Zimbabwean doctors said on Thursday they had treated nearly 70 people for gunshot wounds while police rounded up hundreds after violent protests this week triggered by President Emmerson Mnangagwa's decision to steeply raise fuel prices.
While some businesses and banks opened after the three-day stay-at-home strike, inflation data for December showed the annual consumer price index soaring to 42 per cent, adding more woes to citizens struggling with daily life.

Zimbabweans had hoped Mnangagwa would make good on pre-election pledges to revive the economy and break with the Robert Mugabe era, but Zimbabwe has fallen back into familiar ways.

The protests, which took place only five months after six people were killed in post-election demonstrations last August, pose a challenge for Mnangagwa who promised to repair the struggling economy after he replaced long-time leader Mugabe following a coup in November 2017.
Three people died during the protests but rights groups, lawyers and witnesses said scores were beaten by soldiers in a crackdown on dissent by security forces.

State broadcaster ZBC said 600 people, including a prominent activist and an opposition legislator, have been detained over the protests. A Zimbabwean lawyers' group said it was so far representing more than 130 people arrested for protesting.
Evan Mawarire, a Harare pastor who rose to prominence as a Mugabe critic and led a national protest shutdown in 2016, will on Thursday appear in court to face public violence charges.
Courts dismissed two similar charges against him in 2017 for lack of evidence.
WATCH BELOW: Activist pastor arrested as fuel protests in Zimbabwe enter third day
The Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights (ZADHR) said its members had treated 172 people, some with dog bites, in private and public hospitals since Monday, when the protests erupted in the capital, Harare, and the second city, Bulawayo.
"There are cases of patients who had chest trauma and fractured limbs who were forcibly taken from hospital to attend court despite the advise of doctors," ZAHDR said in a statement.
The casualty list included 68 people treated for gunshot wounds, 17 of whom underwent emergency surgery.
Fuel shortages remain
Some businesses and banks re-opened in the capital but others remained closed as calm returned on Thursday. But in the second city of Bulawayo, which witnessed widespread looting, businesses remained shut, local journalists in the city said.
At a branch owned by Stanbic Bank in Harare, the banking halls were empty with no customers and workers. An official said workers did not report for duty because they could not find public transport. There were very few public taxis on the road, leaving many people stranded.
Long lines formed at the few filling stations selling fuel and in central Harare, soldiers in two army lorries kept an eye at a garage selling petrol.
READ MORE: Rage over fuel - Why France's 'yellow vest' protesters rioted in Paris
Media platforms like Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter remained blocked because of a government order, leading to accusations that it wanted to prevent images of heavy-handedness from being broadcast around the world.
"Things are beginning to normalize now so going to work is the only option otherwise our families will suffer," said James Vambe, a trader in Harare.
Dollar shortages are battering the economy, rocketing inflation is destroying the value of citizens' savings and the government is reacting forcefully to crush dissent.

Cecil Rhodes: A Bad Man in Africa
The evil that men do lives after them - and rarely more miserably than in the case of Cecil Rhodes, who died 100 years ago this month.
North of the Zambezi, they have long known about the suppression of free speech, about the bloody redistribution of land along racial lines, about politicians happy to employ armed - and sometimes uniformed - mobs to kill their opponents. They are practices imported to this region, along with the railways, by the British.
Unlike the African press, the Western media rarely invoke the name of Cecil John Rhodes: nearly a century after his death - on 26 March 1902 - his name is more associated with Oxford Scholarships than with murder. It's easier to focus on the region's more recent, less Anglo white supremacists: Ian Smith, for instance, who - despite his Scottish background - seems cut from the same stuff as those Afrikaner politicians who nurtured and maintained apartheid farther south.
But it was Rhodes who originated the racist "land grabs" to which Zimbabwe's current miseries can ultimately be traced. It was Rhodes, too, who in 1887 told the House of Assembly in Cape Town that "the native is to be treated as a child and denied the franchise. We must adopt a system of despotism in our relations with the barbarians of South Africa". In less oratorical moments, he put it even more bluntly: "I prefer land to niggers."
For much of the century since his death, Rhodes has been revered as a national hero. Today, however, he is closer to a national embarrassment, about whom the less said the better. Yet there are plenty of memorials to him to be found. In Bishop's Stortford, his Hertfordshire birthplace, St Michael's Church displays a plaque. The town has a Rhodes arts centre, a Rhodes junior theatre group, and a small Rhodes Museum - currently closed - which houses a collection of African art objects. In Oxford, his statue adorns Oriel College, while Rhodes House, in which the Rhodes Trust is based, is packed with memorabilia. Even Kensington Gardens boasts a statue - of a naked man on horseback - based on the central feature of his memorial in Cape Town.
But his presence is more strongly felt - and resented - in the territories that once bore his name. Delegates at the Pan Africanist Congress in January argued that "the problems which were being blamed on [President Robert] Mugabe were created by British colonialism, whose agent Cecil Rhodes used armed force to acquire land for settlers". He is the reason why, during the campaign for the presidential election in Zimbabwe, Mugabe's Zanu-PF described its enemies - white or black - as "colonialists"; why, when Zimbabwe gained full independence in 1980, Rhodes's name was wiped from the world's maps.

Zimbabwe plans new currency as dollar shortage bites: finance minister
Zimbabwe will introduce a new currency in the next 12 months, the finance minister said, as a shortage of U.S. dollars has plunged the financial system into disarray and forced businesses to close.
In the past two months, the southern African nation has suffered acute shortages of imported goods, including fuel whose price was increased by 150 percent on Saturday.
Zimbabwe abandoned its own currency in 2009 after it was wrecked by hyperinflation and adopted the greenback and other currencies, such as sterling and the South African rand.
But there is not enough hard currency in the country to back up the $10 billion of electronic funds trapped in local bank accounts, prompting demands from businesses and civil servants for cash which can be deposited and used to make payments.
Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube told a townhall meeting on Friday a new local currency would be introduced in less than 12 months.
"On the issue of raising enough foreign currency to introduce the new currency, we are on our way already, give us months, not years," he said.
Zimbabwe's foreign reserves now provide less than two weeks cover for imports, central bank data show. The government has previously said it would only consider launching a new currency if it had at least six months of reserves.
Locals are haunted by memories of the Zimbabwean dollar, which became worthless as inflation spiraled to reach 500 billion percent in 2008, the highest rate in the world for a country not at war, wiping out pensions and savings.
A surrogate bond note currency introduced in 2016 to stem dollar shortages has also collapsed in value.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa is under pressure to revive the economy but dollar shortages are undermining efforts to win back foreign investors sidelined under his predecessor Robert Mugabe.
Mnangagwa told reporters on Saturday that the price of petrol had increased to $3.31 per liter from $1.32 from midnight but there would be no increase for foreign embassies and tourists paying in cash U.S. dollars.
Locals can pay via local debit cards, mobile phone payments and a surrogate bond note currency.
With less than $400 million in actual cash in Zimbabwe according to central bank figures, fuel shortages have worsened and companies are struggling to import raw materials and equipment, forcing them to buy greenback notes on the black market at a premium of up to 370 percent.
Global markets: Fed injects feelgood factor, trade hopes help
The Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries has warned some of its members could stop operating at the end of the month due to the dollar crunch.
Cooking oil and soap maker Olivine Industries said on Saturday it had suspended production and put workers on indefinite leave because it owed foreign suppliers $11 million.
A local associate of global brewing giant Anheuser-Busch Inbev (ABI.BR) said this week it would invest more than $120 million of dividends and fees trapped in Zimbabwe into the central bank's savings bonds.

South African police issue arrest warrant for Grace Mugabe
JOHANNESBURG - South African authorities issued an arrest warrant for Grace Mugabe, the wife of Zimbabwe's former leader who was accused of assaulting a woman in Johannesburg last year, South African police said Wednesday.
The warrant follows a long legal process during which a South African court this year ruled that the government acted illegally in granting diplomatic immunity to Mugabe when the alleged attack was first reported.
It also marked another setback for Grace and Robert Mugabe, who have kept a mostly low profile since the former president was forced from office in November 2017. Robert Mugabe, whose command over Zimbabwe once seemed impregnable, is now 94 years old and ailing.

Zimbabwe's Mugabe in Singapore for medical treatment, unable to walk
HARARE (Reuters) - Former Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe has been receiving medical treatment in Singapore for the last two months and is no longer able to walk, though he should return home next week, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said on Saturday.
Mugabe, 94, who ruled the southern African nation for nearly four decades since independence from Britain in 1980, was forced to resign in November 2017 after an army coup.
Mnangagwa told ruling ZANU-PF supporters at a rally in Murombedzi, Mugabe's village some 100 km (60 miles) west of the capital Harare, his predecessor had been due to return on Oct. 15 but that his poor health had delayed the journey.

BREAKING: While on Summer Vacation, A 14-Year-Old Brett Kavanaugh was a Sniper in the Rhodesian Bush War
by Schmuley Ben Shekelheim
Though Kavanaugh has curated an image of a good boy, it turns out he is a racist killer and cannibal
While Brett Kavanaugh has been celebrated as a prime student at Georgetown prep, it has been revealed that between his freshman and sophomore year in 1979, he flew to Rhodesia to work as a sniper for the white racists murdering innocent blacks during the Rhodesian Bush War, The New Yorker has confirmed.
When Kavanaugh heard of the signing of the Internal Settlement by Ian Smith in June of that year, he immediately boarded a plane bound for South Africa, where he crossed the border into what is now Zimbabwe with a plan to "kill as many niggers as possible and defend the global supremacy of the white race."
Multiple sources confirmed that Kavanaugh was known as "The Drunken White Terror," due to the fact that he was frequently drunk on sniping missions. Despite consuming extreme amounts of Irish whiskey and often blacking out while on sniping missions, he managed to rack up 38 confirmed kills.
"He be true da nightmare came living in," said one Zimbabwean who wished to remain nameless. "If'n you seed da man his head go pop, you knowed it be da Drinken Terror."
Another victimized African man, who also chose to remain nameless, confirmed that beyond murder, Kavanaugh had other evil behaviors. According to this other guy, he would singlehandedly gang-rape dozens of women while blacked-out drunk, a story which further confirms other claims made against Kavanaugh with regards to his being a drunken gang-rapist.
A different guy told The New Yorker that the 14-year-old Kavanaugh burned an entire village of black people in their huts, lighting the whole place up with kerosene.
"He be laugh at da chilrin as dey scrim," said this guy, who saw it happen while hiding in a bush. He described Kavanaugh chugging Jameson straight from the bottle and singing "Danny Boy" as he watched children burn alive.
Brett Kavanaugh, right, pictured with other white racist fighters
Another guy we spoke to, who wished to remain anonymous, said that Kavanaugh engaged in cannibalism, slitting the throat of a Zimbabwean child and cutting out his heart and eating it while blackout drunk.
Kavanaugh called Ian Smith a "cowardly race traitor" and vowed that some day Rhodesia would once again be forced under the rule of "the white master race."
Ian Smith did not immediately respond to request for comment on this story. Robert Mugabe, when contacted by The New Yorker, said that it was all true.
Along with bringing up questions of Kavanaugh's character, the revelations that he used sniping, gang-rape, village burning and cannibalism against Zimbabweans brings into question whether he would be able to rule impartially on matters dealing with Zimbabwe which could come before the nation's highest court.

Q Research General #2782: Public Will Learn Edition
When the Grand Master Freemason, George Washington, became the first President, he nominated eleven Supreme Court Justices, at least six of which were confirmed Freemasons. The same story has continued ever since. The inauguration of Washington in 1789 was a Freemasonic ceremony in which he swore the oath on a Freemasonic Bible. In January 2001 President George W. Bush took the oath using that same Bible, as did his father more than a decade earlier. It is the property of the New York Lodge, according to news reports.
Washington, who commanded the American colonial armies against the British Crown, was a knight of the Order of the Garter, one of the most elite Illuminati networks headed by the British Crown! It seems to be a staggering contradiction, but when you know the scam it makes perfect sense. (See The Biggest Secret for the detailed background to the American War of "Independence".)
There is no better example of the point I am making here than South Africa. During the period of apartheid, it was an open dictatorship by the few of the many. As a result there was a clear target and so internal and external rebellion led to the removal of that regime. Along came the first black president, Nelson Mandela. He is probably a nice man, but a powerless puppet in truth, and since then Thabo Mbeki has replaced him. Black people now have a vote and so South Africa is free. Yippee! Oh really?
The Illuminati global structure can be likened to a compartmentalized Pyramid or a spider's web. The operational "spider" at the centre is in Europe with London, Paris, Brussels, and Berlin the key cities. From Europe the agenda is dictated down the line to what I call the "bloodline branch managers" in the various countries of the world.
These "bloodline managers", like the Rockefellers in the United States and the Bronfmans in Canada, have a network of other bloodline families around them that control the politics, finance, business, media, and military, etc., in their particular country or domain within the web, much as the Anunnaki "gods" were given different regions to rule in line with the centrally dictated agenda.
And just as the gods fought with each other and tried to muscle in on another's patch, so these Illuminati branch managers do today; hence the infighting and conflict between them. It is the "manager's" job to orchestrate the events and policies of their country to follow the demands of the centrally controlled agenda. This is how the same events and policies can be introduced everywhere, often at the same time.
Now, South Africa is free, yes? The bloodline branch managers of South Africa are the Oppenheimer family and their network. Under the open dictatorship of apartheid, they controlled some 80% of the country's stock market, owned the gold and diamond mines on which the economy depends, and controlled the media through their various frontmen. Today, since the election of Mandela and Mbeki, the apartheid dictatorship has been replaced by "freedom".
I know this is true, I heard it on the news. Under this "freedom", the Oppenheimer family and its networks, continue to control some 80% of the South African stock market, own the diamond and gold mines on which the economy depends, and control the media through their frontmen, not least an Irishman friend of Robert Mugabe and Henry Kissinger called Tony O'Reilly. Isn't freedom just wonderful? And this has happened everywhere as the same forces have remained in control since the illusion of "independence". But look at the South African experience.
Under the overt dictatorship with apartheid there was widespread rebellion inside and outside the country. But now, under covert dictatorship… silence. Everyone thinks South Africa is now free and "independent".
So you see that the "hidden hand" method is by far the most effective way of controlling people and dictating events.
This exchange of overt for covert control has happened on every continent and this is how the Anunnaki and their hybrid bloodlines manipulate the world today.

TRUMP IS TAKING CONTROL OF QUEEN?
I wonder when Hussein will make his visit?
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/queen-put-very-difficult-position-trump-state-visit-n714571
LONDON - The planned state visit of President Donald Trump to the United Kingdom later this year could put 90-year-old Queen Elizabeth in a "very difficult position," according to people in royal circles.
In a letter to the Times of London, Lord Ricketts, who was the permanent secretary at the Foreign Office (the British equivalent of the State Department) from 2006 to 2010, questioned whether Trump is "specially deserving of this exceptional honor?"
Ricketts said there is "no precedent for a U.S. president paying a state visit to this country in their first year. Most have had to wait till their third." He added, "now the Queen is put in a very difficult position."
In fact, if recent precedence says anything, former President Barack Obama made his first visit to the U.K. two months into office, but he did not receive the honor of a state visit until he had been in office for 28 months; and President George W. Bush made his first visit to the U.K. after six months, but he did not get a state visit until he had been in the White House for 32 months.
In the U.K., the prime minister is the head of parliament and is in charge of the day-to-day running of the country, but Queen Elizabeth is the head of state. Therefore she is the person who officially receives foreign dignitaries.
But many are questioning if Trump should receive such a prestigious welcome so early on in his tenure as president.
As many as 1.6 million British citizens have signed a petition to Parliament saying that he "should not be invited to make an official State Visit because it would cause embarrassment to Her Majesty the Queen."
British Prime Minister Theresa May announced during her visit to the White House last week that Trump had accepted an invitation from Queen Elizabeth II for a state visit later this year - reportedly in June.
This wouldn't be the first time the Queen met with a figure unpopular on the world scene. After 60 years as the reigning monarch, she's seen them all: She welcomed the first Communist head of state, Romania's Nicolae Ceausescu, in 1978 when he was already well-known as a corrupt and oppressive leader, as well as Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe in 1994.

Q Research General #2160: "Hi Kim, it's Hussein. Wrong Number? Ah, sorry." Edition
Nolte: Don't Buy Establishment Media's Sudden Concern for 'Human Rights' in North Korea
The establishment media have one guiding principle when it comes to dictators and human rights: If the dictator makes Republicans look bad (or Democrats look good), the media do not give a damn about human rights. North Korea is not only the most recent example, it is one of the most striking.
Oh, sure, the list of dictators the media adore is endless - Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Hassan Rouhani, Bashar al-Assad, Mohamed Morsi, Robert Mugabe, Saddam Hussein, and the Soviet Union - but when you look at today's narrative about human rights in North Korea, never let yourself forget that it was only four months ago - a mere 16 weeks - when the media dropped its collective pants and bent over for Kim.
Oh, and never forget that Obama did more to set the cause of human rights back (especially in Iran Libya, and Egypt), and more to spread tyranny (ISIS) than any president in modern history. And the media still love them some Barry.
Remember the media's reprehensible coverage of the Winter Olympics 16 weeks ago? Remember NBC News spreading Kim's propaganda at a ski resort? Remember CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Time, NPR, and Reuters, and others positioning Kim's monstrous sister as the next Princess Diana?
You see, 16 weeks ago, the media still saw Kim as an ally in the war to defeat Trump. (Human rights? What human rights?) Kim's sister giving Vice President Mike Pence dirty looks at the opening ceremony of the Olympics gave the media vapors and was almost enough to win her a fashion spread in Vogue - something Vogue was more than happy to do for al-Assad's wife when al-Assad was still admired by the media for making life difficult for former-President George W. Bush (but once al-Assad started to make Obama look bad, Vogue memory-holed the fashion spread).
Yes, it was just 16 weeks ago when the media collectively embraced dictator Kim and his belligerent rockets as political allies in the crusade to expose Trump as a fumbling amateur. And so the media adored, glorified, and gushed over Kim, his Potemkin ski resort, and his Gulag-running sister.
But here we are now, 16 weeks later, and all of a sudden these very same so-called news outlets are screaming about human rights in North Korea.
What changed?
One thing.
One.
And it has absolutely nothing to do with humans or rights.
Over these last 16 weeks, Kim morphed into a genuine threat to the American media's only objective, which is to defeat Trump in 2020. And so, the media have turned against Kim, but only because Kim broke weak and handed Trump a foreign policy triumph.
Just like Stalin and Castro and Chavez and Saddam and Housani, as long as he furthers the cause of the media's left-wing agenda here in the states, Kim can imprison and murder all the innocent people he wants. But once he steps off the Dictator Plantation, only then do the media whip out the Human Rights Card. And here is how that card works...
The media are hoping their new-found obsession and narrative about human rights will be the monkey in the wrench, the complication that makes a successful deal between Trump and Kim impossible.
In the media's depraved worldview, if undercutting Trump results in a nuclear North Korea, in a monster thrust back into isolation where we will have zero chance of affecting his human rights record, so be it. If the media are successful in scuttling a victory for world peace (because it benefits Trump) and results in American going to war with North Korea (which, like Iraq and Saddam, will almost certainly result in more dead civilians than Kim could possibly kill), so be it.
Thankfully, the media's mercenary manipulations are likely to fail for a number of reasons.
1) Trump just doesn't care about media pressure. His eye is only on one prize, the only one that matters, ne-nuclearizing North Korea.
2) The American public are no longer swayed by a media that has lost all of its moral authority.
3) The sanctions are still in place against North Korea, and the American people understand this is what matters, not the ceasing of war games that were primarily symbolic.
4) After two decades of America failing to spread "human rights" in the Middle East, after the unfathomable debacle that was Libya, the neocon movement is dead. Oh, sure, it lives on in the Never Trump dead-enders who got nothing else, but after two stupid, endless wars that only made things worse (especially for those we were going to liberate), Americans understand that when we attempt to police faraway lands, the cause for human rights goes nowhere but back.

"Tiny Rowland: Businessman, spy, friend of apartheid?" - Part 1
https://mg.co.za/article/2017-07-25-businessman-spy-friend-of-apartheid/
25 JULY 2017
Excerpts below
The focus of their anger and frustration was not the state but, rather, the mine owners, Lonmin. Far from being blameless, this British platinum giant used its shareholder, ANC heavyweight and South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, to call for what was termed "concomitant action" against the workers. At stake was the continued supply of cheap labour required to maximise profit from the mine.
The struggle of these mineworkers was against a 110-year-old corporation that, for almost 90 years of its existence, was known as the London and Rhodesian Mining and Land Company (Lonrho). By the late 1980s Lonrho was active in 80 countries, employing more than 140 000 workers in over 800 related subsidiaries. Lonrho's interests in apartheid South Africa ranged from the distribution of Mercedes-Benz cars to ownership of the country's third-largest platinum mine, Western Platinum, which it acquired in 1987.
Lonrho shed its Rhodesian roots under the leadership of Roland "Tiny" Rowland, who controlled the company for almost 30 years from 1962 onwards.
He made his first fortune not in Britain but in the colony of Southern Rhodesia, where his good looks and upper-class accent charmed the local white elite.
Rowland was on good terms with African heads of state, including Libya's Muammar Gaddafi, Zambia's Kenneth Kaunda and Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Arap Moi of Kenya.
His privileged relationship with Malawian autocrat Hastings Banda is said to have aided Lonrho in large-scale transfer pricing, in effect a massive underpayment of taxes, which was common practice in Lonrho's African business empire. A similar allegation was made about Lonmin in South Africa under the leadership of chief executive Ian Farmer before the Marikana massacre in 2012.
Rowland had easy access to United States CIA chief Bill Casey, Israeli intelligence agency Mossad deputy chief David Kimche and Middle Eastern arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi. Ronald Reagan's assistant secretary for African affairs in the 1980s, Chester Crocker, was a major player in Southern African politics through his policy of "constructive engagement" towards Pretoria. He trusted Rowland because of his unfettered access to African heads of state and reassuring penchant for clandestine diplomacy, guaranteed by the invisibility of any staff. Rowland ticked all the boxes for the perfect spy.
It should therefore be no surprise that his personal fortune peaked during Margaret Thatcher's doggedly pro-market prime ministership. This was thanks to Lonrho chairperson Sir Edward du Cann, who was instrumental in getting Thatcher elected as leader of the Conservative Party in 1975. Du Cann was also key in lobbying Thatcher to meet with Rowland and persuaded her private secretary to "insert documents supporting Lonrho into the prime minister's red boxes at the end of a working day". According to Du Cann, "Margaret regarded Tiny as extraordinary".

Excerpts below
Under the leadership of Tiny Rowland, Lonrho became the largest and most widely established company in post-independence Africa. Using newly available materials mainly from the National Archives London, this article investigates the activities of Lonrho in Africa and the company's relationship with the British government during the period. Although Prime Minister Edward Heath publicly labeled the company as the "unacceptable face of capitalism," evidence presented in this article suggests that this was at best a normative assertion. The subsequent Department of Trade and Industry investigation of Lonrho was carefully guided by the British government with the objective of protecting wider British interests in Africa. Evidence in this article therefore contradicts the view that the British government did not work "in concert" with British businesses in Africa once political independence became imminent.
Neo-colonialism is a complex and multifaceted term that has been used to "denounce a multitude of different forms of dependence and interference." 1 This concept, which is usually applied to the "control developed nations exert over independent developing countries," 2 has been operationalized through "economic penetration, political subversion and military pressure." 3 The consequence of this is that although a neo-colonial state may have all the trappings of international sovereignty, in reality, "its economic system and thus its political policy is directed from the outside." 4 In its pure form, therefore, neo-colonialism has been defi ned as "the survival of the colonial system in spite of formal recognition of political independence in emerging countries which became the victims of an indirect and subtle form of domination by political, economic, social military or technical means." 5 Based on this defi nition, the consequences of colonialism and neo-colonialism are the same. Their mechanisms of operation, however, are different.
In the attempt to maintain some degree of control over colonial territories, the British government adopted diverse subtle-and sometimes covert-strategies such as "creating client states, which it manipulates from the distance" through mechanisms such as fanning "the fi res of sectional interests, of personal greed and ambition among leaders and contesting aspirants to power." 12... Neo-colonial control has also been facilitated through the design of international aid, international trade, and international financial institutions. 14

During that time, the newspaper broke the political scandal known as Muldergate in which officials from the Department of Information secretly planned to use state resources for a propaganda campaign for the apartheid government. The scandal led to the resignation of Prime Minister John Vorster in 1978, and Sparks was named International Editor of the Year in 1979 for his leadership of the paper's coverage.

Muldergate: The Information Scandal 1 of 2
https://www.sahistory.org.za/article/information-scandal
The information scandal was nicknamed Muldergate, after Dr Connie Mulder, the central person throughout the scandal. Dr. Mulder was the Minister of Information in John Vorster's government. Moreover, he was tipped to succeed John Vorster as South Africa's Prime Minister. However, the Muldergate scandal would ruin his political career. The central figures in the scandal were, General Hendricks van der Bergh, head of the infamous Bureau of State Security (BOSS), Dr Eschel Rhoodie a senior official in the department of information and author of The Paper Curtain, a book that laid the principle foundation of the Propaganda War, the Minister of Finance Dr Nico Diederichs, and the head of government Prime Minister John Vorster. The information scandal cost all of them their political careers.
The Muldergate scandal was a result of government attempts to influence international and local public opinion about the Apartheid government. The government was concerned that the local English press was interested in spreading bad news about South Africa, and distorting positive news about the country. 'The government was convinced that there is an ongoing "hate South Africa crusade"'. 'The government opted for their own propaganda war. The propaganda war started as early as 1973 following John Vorster accepted Mulder's plan to shift about R64 million from the defence budget to undertake a series of propaganda projects'. The plan entailed bribes of international news agencies and the purchase of the Washington Star newspaper and the secret establishment of a government controlled newspaper, The Citizen. An Afrikaner millionaire Louis Luyt apparently owned this newspaper. But funds to establish it where raised by the government using secrets funds protect from public and parliamentary scrutiny. The Citizen was established by government to act as a counter voice of the Rand Daily Mail, an English newspaper influential in the formation of English public opinion. The government believed that this newspaper was part of the "hate South Africa crusade". More than this, the propaganda war was also an attempt to buy the opinion of influential newspapers such as the Washington Post in the United States of America and European newspapers. Moreover, the propaganda war involved the laundering of South African money by bypassing foreign exchange regulation and using South Africa's vast gold resources to deposit money in the secretive Swiss Bank accounts. Furthermore, the government used funds from the special defence account, which was protected from public scrutiny by the Defence Special Account Act. However, the plan went ahead despite Pieter Willem Botha's protest.

For context
Timeline around the removal of South Africa's President John Vorster and Regime change in Rhodesia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Vorster
"Shortly after the 1978 Internal Settlement in Rhodesia, in which [John Vorster] was instrumental, he was implicated in the Muldergate Scandal. He resigned the premiership [Prime Minister 13 September 1966 (after HF Verwoerd's assassination) -2 October 1978] in favour of the ceremonial state presidency, from which he was forced out as well eight months later [President 10 October 1978 - 4 June 1979]."
https://www.rhodesianstudycircle.org.uk/1978-internal-settlement/
The Internal Settlement was an agreement which was signed on 3 March 1978 between Prime Minister of Rhodesia Ian Smith and the moderate African nationalist leaders comprising Bishop Abel Muzorewa, Ndabaningi Sithole and Senator Chief Jeremiah Chirau... Following the agreement, the election of March 1979 was held which brought Muzorewa and his UANC party to power."
heritage.org/africa/report/rhodesia-transition
The leaders of the Patriotic Front (PF) Robert Mugabe and Joshua Nkomo, did not support the Internal Settlement on the grounds that it perpetuated wh i te minority control. The Internal Settlement did not exclude the guerrillas of the Patriotic Front but the signatories insisted that they lay down their arms before participating. On July 26, 1978, the Rhodesian government announced that elections would b e held on December 4 through the 6th.
Nor did the governments of the United States and Great Bri tain accept the Internal Settlement, on the grounds that a set tlement that did not include the forces of the PF could not work.

In April/May 1979, following an "internal settlement" in Rhodesia, elections were held for a Parliament with an African majority. On June 1st, Bishop Abel Muzorewa took office as Prime Minister of 'Zimbabwe-Rhodesia.' Having conceded power to an African majority government, white Rhodesians expected Britain to recognize the Muzorewa regime and end crippling sanctions. However, contrary to her election promises, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher withheld recognition and maneuvered the Muzorewa government into accepting new elections inclusive of Joshua Nkomo and Robert Mugabe, who led the 'Patriotic Front,' against which Rhodesian security forces had been fighting for years. Thatcher's refusal to recognize the Muzorewa government ultimately allowed Mugabe to take power [on 18 April 1980], an outcome highly unsatisfactory to most whites. Joshua Nkomo - was president of the ANC - Part 3
https://www.colonialrelic.com/biographies/joshua-nkomo/
He attended the Victoria Falls talks on 25 and 26 August 1975 as a leading member of the ANC delegation.
On 16 April [1976] he refused an invitation to go to Lusaka to attend talks called for by Bishop Muzorewa in a bid to attain unity in the movement. Ten days later, however, he was in Zambia for a round of talks with Dr Henry Kissinger, The American Secretary of State. It was during this visit that it was announced that ZIPA - Zimbabwe People's Army - rejected Nkomo as leader of the army.
On 28 June a statement by Joshua Nkomo, claiming leadership of the ANC and of ZIPA was read out at the OAU Foreign Ministers' meeting in Port Louis, Mauritius. In this statement Nkomo said that the ANC was "determined to maintain and escalate the fighting in Rhodesia."
During June, July and August 1976 he travelled widely outside Rhodesia, his principal aim being to secure recognition of the ANC, under his leadership, as the voice of the African people of Rhodesia. On 6 September he was present at the summit conference called in Dar-es-Salaam by the Presidents of Tanzania, Zambia, Mocambique, Angola and Botswana. At this conference which was attended by other Rhodesian nationalist leaders, much pressure was applied by the Presidents for a unification of the various factions of the ANC.
On 9 October the two men [Joshua Nkomo and Robert Mugabe] announced the formation of a Patriotic Front, and said in a joint statement that they "totally rejected" the Kissinger proposals as a basis of discussion.
[January 1977] In Zambia, he took over Supreme leadership of both the military and political wings of ZAPU and ZIPRA.
In the meanwhile the March 3rd agreement between Smith and Muzorewa had been forged. Nkomo, who top lieutenants Josiah Chinamano, Willie Musarurwa, Cephas Msipa, Ariston Chambati and others were still in Salisbury (Harare), made it known that the March 3rd agreement would not secure peace and, in fact would cause an intensification of the war. Then came the Viscount [airliner] drama. Guerillas of the ZIPRA Army operating in the Kariba area shot down Viscount 1 on September 3rd 1978 and Viscount 2 in February 1979 that belief that they were carrying military personnel. After the controversial recorded interview with Joshua Nkomo, which his opponents heard him laugh, his friends interpreted it as an unintended embarrassed response to a questions that was unexpected, Ian Smith broadcast his own threats to "liquidate" the "terrorist parties".
After the ceasefire was achieved, Nkomo returned to fight the election. Not happy about fighting the election separately from his former comrades-in-arms, but he was welcomed home by huge crowds when he arrived in Rhodesia on January 13th. After he had won his seat in the Midlands, he was offered the presidency by the new ZANU (PF) government, but, says one of his officials, he wanted real involvement in the day-to-day business of governing the country.
Joshua Nkomo married in 1949. His wife, Johanna, comes from his own birthplace in the Semokwe Reserve, and is a daughter of Chief Fuyane and a granddaughter of Magwegwe, the chief councilor of Lobengula. His eldest daughter, Thandiwe, who was born in 1954, is in Long Island, New York, studying to be a pathologist. The second child, Tutani, who was born on 11 November 1955, has been in Budapest since 1973 studying engineering. Sibangalizwe ("He who fights for his country") is 19 years old and is at present at college in Minnesota. The youngest child, Sehlule, was born in 1964 after her father had been restricted. She is a pupil at a Catholic mission in the Gwaai area. [He got majority rule but his children are still reliant on the 'settlers']

>"Let us be very clear what this war is all about. The war is about a transfer of power from minority to majority. This is after 30 years we have tried to negotiate with all the successive British governments, with the successive Rhodesian governments and we only went to war when it was quite clear that it was not possible to get anything out of settlers in Southern Rhodesia so that we have this one thing that has compelled those racist to ever even talk about majority rule. So we are not going to be compelled to withdraw the only weapon we have to bring about a genuine majority rule until we are satisfied that a framework for the transfer of power from minority to majority has been worked out."

Only the degree of oppression and corruption varies. Robert Mugabe's letter of resignation brings to an end his 37-year-old leadership in Zimbabwe. During that time he went from respected freedom fighter who overturned white minority rule to a brutal dictator. He promised racial harmony, but instead tore apart the once-prosperous country. White farmers had their valuable lands seized on his orders and given to the families of resistance fighters.

"How ED [Emmerson Mnangagwa] helped ANC comrades during Apartheid" smuggle weapons
https://www.herald.co.zw/how-ed-helped-anc-comrades-during-apartheid/
September 21, 2019
Less than a month into Zimbabwe's independence in 1980, then African National Congress leader Oliver Tambo met with then Prime Minister Robert Mugabe over how the new nation would help the liberation movement execute its war against Apartheid.
The two leaders then set up a committee co-led by Emmerson Mnangagwa, then Mininster of State Security and Thabo Mbeki, that time a high ranking ANC cadre to come up with a deal and operationalise it.
This new interesting detail is according to former President of South Africa and ANC struggle veteran Thabo Mbeki who recentrly gave a eulogy during a recent commemoration even held in honour of the life of Zimbabwe's ex-President, Cde Robert Mugabe, who died a fortnight ago.
Cde Mbeki said the committee then came up woth a cocktail of interventions that oiled the ANC's struggle for independence, including movement of weapons from Zambia and cadres, using Zimbabwean identity cards.
"Emmerson Mnangagwa, was Minister of State Security that time and I worked with him. He is now President of Zimbabwe. Under the deal we crafted, Zimbabwe moved a whole battalion to the Limpopo river at the border with South Africa.
"That means the Zimbabwean soldiers would cross our weapons from Zambia to the Limpopo. Our people would then cross from South Africa, without weapons and get them in Zimbabwe. There were a lot of roadblocks then," said Mbeki.
Mbeki said, many ANC cadres travelled to sensitive meeting abroad, I would go as Patrick Zhuwao," he said, drawing laughter from the crowd that included former Zimbabwean a minister Patrick Zhuwao.
The security situation then was very fragile and dangerous. Its was a transitional period and Ian Smith's spies were still in government.
"Imagin it was just within a month of Zimbabwe's independence and the security situation was still delicate. There we were, requesting Zimbabwe to host our freedom fighters. Mugabe then said let us come up with a team from both sides to operationalise the process.
"We needed to cross our weapons from Zambia through Zimbabwe to our border, the into South Africa. Mnangagwa helped our cadres get Zimbabwean identity cards and our people carrying weapons passed every roadblock without problem. Each time they produced Zimbabwean IDs they passed through each road block without problems.
"This is a secret am letting out for the first time. That is how Mugabe and Mnangagwa stood by us. I could say more. But Zimbabwe played a very important role until we got our independence in 1994," said Mbeki much to applause.
"The Liberation struggle in South Africa had reached fever pitch, inspired by the new State of Zimbabwe, and needing to up the guerilla movement against black discrimination. For some of us in the ANC, Zimbabwe is a very special country."

2:32:59 - "To give you an example from South Africa, the worst crime you can commit in South Africa both under the old government and the new is illegal diamond mining, IDB, and basically the principle is that every diamond, uncut diamond, belongs to De Beers/Anglo American. And so, whether you find it on your farm, whether you find it scuba diving the... Orange River... Not just South Africa, the same thing for Namibia, same thing for Botswana, every diamond belongs to De Beers and so interestingly, the worst offence you can commit in terms of the penalties you get is not murder, it is not even income tax evasion, it is illegal diamond mining. Isn't it interesting that, you know, you have got this communist party government and so on but they accept the fact that all the diamonds have to belong to De Beers and it just explains that's the power in our country, the diamond magnets and so on. In other countries it might be oil and so on but behind it are these massive power houses who somehow untouchable when it comes to law and they are above the law. And this should make a person think because even governments can change and there can even have revolutions but somehow these chaps are unaffected and some of the things that which make you think about this. Just take during the cold war, there was 1 capitalist from America, Armand Hammer, who could fly to the Soviet Union any time and he could fly his private plane to the Soviet Union, he could walk into the office of Joseph Stalin without an appointment which none of his cabinet ministers could do... He's meant to be one of the top capitalists and yet he was totally in bed with the commies. His father was the top member of the Communist Party in the USA. You can look at Zimbabwe and Rhodesia, there was the head of Lonrho, London Rhodesia Company... Tiny Rowlands, the moment that Robert Mugabe took power, he took up membership openly with ZanuPF, he became the major funder and personal friend of Robert Mugabe. You would have thought Tiny Rowlands was a respected businessman in Rhodesia but in fact he was in bed with the communists before and after 1980 and we could give lots of other examples like it... I remember being in prison in Lusaka central prison and having some of the Zambian presidential detainees who were in the same cell with me in Lusaka central explaining that in Zambia a lot of the copper mines and everything else up on the copper belt were still owned by Anglo American and I said well that is strange, don't you want one party dictatorship/socialist government... yes we do... and yet Anglo American still runs the copper mines?… yes they do. I said and how does this work. He said, well they are happy because they only have to pay off the government and they have not done a wage increase in decades. And when the people try to strike, the government just calls out the police army and they shoot rioters straight... not with rubber bullets, real bullets... And apparently hardcore capitalists, monopoly capitalists I mean, they love communist regimes because big tech, big government, big business, big media, big pharma are in bed with one another. And I have seen it in our country."

"When Nelson Mandela met Margaret Thatcher" described by Robin Renwick - https://youtu.be/ODmmATOjFZ8
"Who Is Lord Robin Renwick Julius Malema's Handler From London?"dated 13 April 2016 at http://www.radiofreesouthafrica.com/lord-robin-renwick-julius-malemas-handler-london/. Below are a few excerpts however it is worth reading in full.
During October 2015, the top leadership of the ostensible"Marxist-Leninist" parliamentary party, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) led by its "Commander in Chief" Julius Malema took a tour to London where they met amongst others, 'Lord' Robin Renwick. The meeting with Renwick and other representatives of imperialism happened under the secret rule called the "Chatham House Rule".
Malema's new friend - is a nasty piece of work. He is a chief imperialist negotiator who was deployed to Southern Africa by the Queen under the Margaret Thatcher administration. He has successfully negotiated neo colonial settlements consecutively in Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa. In November 1978 he was deployed to Zimbabwe, where he was appointed head of the Rhodesia Department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He later served as Political Adviser to the Governor of 'Rhodesia'. He had clear instructions to find a suitable black successor government that was: amicable to working with the British; willing to keep the economy in the hands of White Monopoly Capital, and; willing to accept the neo-colonial constitution drafted by the British that served to protect White minority rights.
The British were reluctantly forced to hand over power to Robert Mugabe via agreements made at Lancaster. Robin Renwick was closely involved in the process of what he calls'decolonising' Zimbabwe. He convinced Robert Mugabwe who was adamant on arm struggle for liberation to delay the real liberation of the Zimbabwean people by another 20 years by leaving the economy and the land in the hands of the British. The Queen awarded Renwick with the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in 1980 for his service to the crown. Traditionally these awards go to those who "hold high and confidential offices within Her Majesty's colonial possessions, and in reward for services rendered to the Crown in relation to the foreign affairs of the Empire".
In 1987 Robin Renwick was deployed to South Africa by the Queen under similar instructions. South Africa had declared a state of emergency and like Zimbabwe (seven years earlier) was costing European investors billions of rands. Renwicks orders was to find a suitable successor to President PW Botha, for the purpose of freeing Nelson Mandela who the British had identified as the black leader that they could best work with, and; drafting a new neo-colonial constitution that protected the rights of the white minority who owned the SA economy.
Renwick serves in the House of Lords in the British Parliament and has business links to the Rothchilds, the Ruperts and some of the biggest multinational companies in the world including mining companies in Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa that mine gold, diamonds, copper, coal, natural gas, petroleum etc. In Africa he has held director positions in SAB Miller the second largest brewery in the world, Harmony Gold the third largest gold mining company in SA, Gem Diamonds a company linked to forceful removal of Bushmen peoples in Botswana. I must be pointed out that Gem Diamonds also has mines in the following African countries: Angola, Botswana, Central African Republic, DRC and Lesotho.
Malema is attending private meetings in the Chamber of Commerce under the 'Chantam House Rule'. This means that it's a secret, that one bind oneself to, not to reveal who one is meeting with. This includes meetings with affiliates of the principal party(s). White Power handlers like Renwick are preparing Julius Malema, like they prepared Nelson Mandela in the 1990's, to carry out the mandate of the Queen.
In the press conference held after the London tour, the EFF had promised to make the footage of the secret meeting available. In fact the media was asked by the EFF to get directly in touch with the award winning film maker Rehad Desai to get the footage. All attempts to get the footage from Desai has been totally unsuccessful.

In the hydrocarbon, gas and oil sectors, a handful of Russian companies have become strong in Africa, such as Rosneft, Gazprom and above all the giant Lukoil, headed until a week ago by the billionaire tycoon Vagit Alekperov, who opposed the war in a statement and resigned two months later. These companies are present in countries such as Ghana, Cameroon and Nigeria.
From private business to state interest
The link between private businesses and the interests of the Russian state is close and evident in examples such as Alexandre Br?gadz?, who is head of Rusal in Guinea, but also an architect and a former ambassador who trained at the Moscow Diplomatic Academy. The security sector also shows these relationships. The activities of the obscure Wagner mercenary group, which is present in Libya, Mozambique, Sudan, the Central African Republic and now also in Mali, are easily confused with those of the Russian Army itself and the group even uses the army's means of transportation. According to Western intelligence services, Wagner is financed by Putin's so-called chef, a businessman named Yevgheni Prighozin who has also been sanctioned by the US and the EU, and who met the Russian president when the latter dined at his restaurant in St. Petersburg.
More than a third of the weapons that Africa buys come from Russia, its main supplier, according to the Stockholm Peace Research Institute, and the two main recipient countries of this weaponry are Egypt and Algeria, but there are others such as Nigeria, Sudan, Angola and Mali. The equipment includes fighter-type aircraft, helicopters, assault craft, tanks, ammunition and air defense systems. The contracts between the state company Rosoboronexport and 20 African countries cover every kind of weapon these days.
Through these deals, African countries with dictatorial or military regimes that are under Western sanctions - such as Mali now, but also Libya or Zimbabwe during the Robert Mugabe regime - can gain access to weapons that other countries deny them.
"Russia is leaning on the image created in Africa by the Soviet Union, at a time when Moscow supported many liberation movements, trained students and built hospitals. It is perceived as a kind of older brother, a defender of Africa's sovereignty, embodying an alternative development model to the Western one. But this idealized vision does not match the geopolitical and moral realities of today's Russia that has unleashed the war in Ukraine," adds Smirnova, from Centre FrancoPaix.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, under which tens of thousands of young African doctors, architects, engineers and soldiers were trained by the great power, relations plummeted. But a little over a decade ago, Putin himself inspired a triumphant comeback that reached a climax at the Russia-Africa summit held in Sochi in 2019, attended by as many as 45 heads of state from the African continent. A second meeting in Moscow is planned for 2022.
