Raffensperger Names Fuchs To Serve As Deputy Secretary Of State
Georgia Secretary of State-elect Brad Raffensperger has appointed Jordan Fuchs to serve as his deputy secretary of state. This position, Raffensperger said, is "one of the most important non-elected positions" in the state, as the office is responsible for elections, corporation registrations, business and occupational licensing and securities.
Fuchs, who managed Raffensperger's campaigns for the state legislature and the office of secretary of state, is "fully dedicated to achieving the goals outlined in the campaign," the Republican said.
"I have watched Jordan thrive in the high pressure and highly visible role leading a large organization," Raffensperger added. "I have the utmost confidence that she can successfully direct the efforts of this office, and achieve the goals upon which I campaigned. I am confident she will work hard for the people of Georgia."
Before joining Raffensperger's campaign, Fuchs served as vice president of Landmark Communications, an Alpharetta-based public relations and political consulting firm. Prior to that, she worked in Washington, D.C., in Congress and U.S. Foreign Policy Program with the Council on Foreign Relations. She also worked on Capitol Hill in the office of U.S. Representative Rob Woodall.
Fuchs earned a B.A.J. in public relations from the Henry Grady School of Journalism and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Georgia.
"I am thankful and excited for the opportunity to serve the people of Georgia," said Fuchs. "We have many challenges ahead, and we are building a team that can meet those challenges head-on. I believe that all Georgians will be proud of the team that will help us continue to be the best state in the nation in which to do business, raise a family, and build communities of which we can all be proud."
Raffensperger will be sworn in to office Jan. 14, 2019, and Fuchs will assume the duties of deputy secretary of state on that date.

Q Research General #14647: NEVERENDING SUBVERION EDITION
House Democrats Suffer a Catastrophe that Will Blow Up Their Party
House Democrats went into Election Day supremely confident that they were going to put another nail in the Republicans' coffin. They had outraised and outspent Republican candidates across the board. They felt the issues of the pandemic response and Obamacare favored them.
Democrats spoke confidently of picking up 10 to 15 seats - perhaps more. Of course, this would be after Joe Biden cruised to an easy victory over Donald Trump, with Democratic majorities in the House and Senate riding on his coattails.
But the polls were wrong. They were very wrong. So when reality hit Nancy Pelosi and her caucus this morning, they realized they hadn't gained a single seat in Congress. In fact, as of noon Wednesday, Democrats had lost five seats and were trailing in several others.
What happened?
It turns out that the American people prefer to vote for candidates who aren't radical leftists hellbent on "transforming" the country. Why this comes as a surprise to Democrats-who believe that many of their more outrageous proposals like the Green New Deal and Medicare for All are ready to be embraced by the electorate-is a mystery.
The Hill:
While Democrats will retain their majority, a handful of their front-line members - incumbents facing the toughest races - had been defeated. And after boasting about how they'd expanded the map and were playing "deep into Trump country," they'd failed to pick off even a single House Republican running for reelection. Democrats did manage to pick up a pair of GOP-held open seats in North Carolina, where redistricting had made the districts much bluer, and a third in Georgia after the retirement of vulnerable GOP Rep. Rob Woodall.
Democrats made the most fundamental political mistake you can make; they overestimated the popular appeal of many of their issues and candidates. Democrats did not win a single district won by Donald Trump in 2016 - a bitter disappointment given the high hoes - and large amounts of cash - they had for those races.
The spate of Democratic losses were not limited to any one geographic region. In rural Minnesota, Rep. Collin Peterson (D), a 15-term veteran and chairman of the Agriculture Committee, was clobbered by the state's former lieutenant governor, who'd linked Peterson to the liberal Pelosi.
In the suburbs of Oklahoma City, Rep. Kendra Horn (D), a first-term moderate, was defeated by Republican Stephanie Bice, a state senator, in one of the country's most contested races.
Two first-term Democrats in Florida's Miami-Dade County-Reps. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and Donna Shalala, the former Health and Human Services secretary under President Clinton-also went down in flames. It must have felt like the "Revenge of the Hispanics" as Cuban-Americans voted out Democrats who wanted to normalize relations with Cuba.
There are several races still undecided. Two districts in California, the 21st and the 25th, have yet to be called and Rep. Cheri Bustros's (Ill.) race is too close to call.
While votes were still being counted Wednesday morning in races around the country, an additional number of Democratic incumbents were trailing or locked in a tight races, including Abby Finkenauer (Iowa), TJ Cox (Calif.), Anthony Brindisi (N.Y.) and Max Rose (N.Y.), a former Army Ranger representing Staten Island.
Republicans also ran a host of female candidates, five of whom will go to Washington in January.
It's an open question at this point whether Nancy Pelosi can survive as Speaker. In fact, the top leadership of the House and Senate will find members more than willing to take out their frustrations at these losses on them. There is likely to be blood on the floor of Congress when the Democrats who are left caucus determine their leaders.

House Democrats fall way short in disappointing night
BY SCOTT WONG AND MIKE LILLIS - 11/04/20 09:05 AM EST
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her invigorated caucus charged into Tuesday with an energized base, a sharp fundraising advantage and hopes to flip anywhere from five to 15 Republican seats on election night. Instead, it was the Republicans who scored big - at least in the early counting - knocking out at least a half dozen vulnerable Democrats with several more clinging to the ropes.
It was a reversal of fortunes for the Democrats, who had led big in the polls and the money race and were betting that President Trump at the top of the ticket would be a drag on GOP lawmakers all the way down the ballot. With gushing optimism, Democrats were expecting Tuesday night would give them a chance to pad their 232-197 majority next year.
"We're well-positioned to have a good night," Rep. Cheri Bustos (Ill.), head of the Democrats' campaign arm, told reporters hours before polls closed Tuesday.
As the sun came up Wednesday morning, however, there appeared few bright spots for Bustos's party.
On New Mexico's southern border, Rep. Xochitl Torres Small (D), a 36-year-old centrist also in her first term, fell to Yvette Herrell, a former state legislator, in a rematch of 2018.
And in South Carolina, first-term Rep. Joe Cunningham (D) was ousted by state Rep. Nancy Mace (R).
An early surprise on election night - and early bad news for Democrats - was the defeat of two first-term Democrats in Florida's Miami-Dade County: Reps. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and Donna Shalala, the former Health and Human Services secretary under President Clinton. Cuban Americans, a powerful voting bloc in South Florida, broke overwhelming for President Trump, helping to hand Republicans the Sunshine State and the pair of House seats.
"Part of it is incorrect assumptions about how minority voters will perform based on previous elections. Democrats can no longer take Black and Latino voters for granted," said former Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-Fla.), a Cuban American who previously represented one of the Miami seats.
Symbolic of the tough night suffered by the Democrats, even Bustos on Wednesday morning was trailing her GOP opponent, although plenty of absentee ballots remain to be counted and Democrats have cautioned the public not to jump to conclusions about race results before every vote has been tallied. Bustos hails from a largely rural district won by Trump in 2016, and the race was predicted to be close heading in.
House Republicans, long criticized for the small number of women in their ranks, picked up seats by running female candidates against Democratic incumbents. At least five GOP women will be part of the freshman class; Republicans had added just one woman in 2018.
The devastating night for Democrats is sure to prompt plenty of head scratching about their campaign strategy, including questions about the accuracy of their polling and decisions to go on the offensive in districts where Trump won handily, rather than dedicating resources to more moderate districts.
It also presents a new dilemma for Pelosi, who's expected to return as Speaker next year and was hoping to cushion her comfortable majority in preparation for what is expected to be a tough cycle for Democrats in 2022.

House Democrats are playing politics with people's lives again.
This weekend, they blocked multiple bills designed to provide aid in the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
Specifically, they blocked aid to law enforcement, because opposition to the police has become part of their agenda. And they blocked aid to small businesses, because they believe a weakened economy hurts Trump.
It's despicable.
Breitbart reports:
House Democrats Block Funding for Police, Small Business Aid
House Democrats blocked three bills on Saturday that would have provided funding for law enforcement, aid to small businesses, and more funding for potential coronavirus treatments.
Rep. Rob Woodall (R-GA) introduced a motion to defeat the previous question, which would have allowed for the consideration of three House Republican bills to better Americans' lives.
The first bill, sponsored by Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX), would have provided emergency funding to continue the development of vaccines, therapeutics, and building up a strategic stockpile of personal protective equipment and other medical supplies. The bill would have also helped secure America's manufacturing and supply chains.
The second bill, sponsored by Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH), would have extended the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and allowed small businesses to receive a second PPP loan.
The third bill, introduced by Rep. Pete Stauber (R-MN), would have provided additional funding for police departments, better training, and body cameras.

The List: 15 Republicans Lobbied to Reopen Loophole for Foreign Students
You know what to do anons, check they're donors, the lobbying groups, see of the Koch brothers or Soros are putting pressure on them through lobbying groups. Time to dispense with Republican in name only
A group of 15 House Republicans lobbied President Trump's administration to reopen a loophole that gives visas to online-only foreign students just as the White House reversed policy to do just that.
This month, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency announced it would enforce federal law that dictates that foreign students are not awarded F-1 student visas for the purpose of attending online courses.
On Tuesday, Trump's administration dropped the requirement for F-1 foreign student visa holders to attend in-person classes, reopening the loophole allowing them to stay in the U.S. The move came after major pressure from Fortune 500 companies, the Chamber of Commerce, and a lawsuit by Harvard University and MIT.
While the Trump administration dropped the visa requirement, 15 House Republicans signed a letter lobbying ICE to allow foreign students to attend online classes to stay in the U.S. on F-1 visas.

Latino group urges state lawmaker to make primary challenge to Democrat for Georgia House seat
An influential national Latino political group on Thursday launched a campaign to draft state Rep. Brenda Lopez Romero (D) to run for Georgia's 7th congressional district.
The campaign, dubbed "Run, Brenda, Run," was launched by the Latino Victory Fund, which last month ran a similar campaign encouraging Assistant Speaker Rep. Ben Ray Lujan (D-N.M.) to run to replace retiring Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.).
If Lopez enters the race, it could generate a contentious Democratic primary fight.
Rep. Rob Woodall (R-Ga.) won reelection in 2018 by just more than 400 votes over Democrat Carolyn Bourdeaux, who has pledged to run again in 2020, and has raised more than $350,000 for her campaign.
The Latino Victory campaign comes with support from big names in the Georgia Democratic Party.
Both Georgia Assembly House Minority Leader Bob Trammell and House Democratic chair James Beverly spoke out to encourage López to challenge Bourdeaux.
"Brenda Lopez Romero is a proven legislator who knows how to get things done, and that's exactly why we need Brenda to run for the United States Congress. I proudly join this effort, because Georgia deserves a leader like Brenda in Washington," Beverly said in a statement.
Georgia's 7th district is a diverse and urban district that's been increasingly in the sights of Democrats.
It's a majority-minority district where 45 percent of the population is white, 21 percent is black, 14 percent is Asian and 19 percent is Hispanic.
Georgia as a whole has a significant and growing Hispanic population, but has never sent a Hispanic representative to Washington.
"State Representative Brenda Lopez Romero knows the importance of building a pipeline of qualified and viable Latino candidates in Georgia. I am proud to have worked closely with Brenda to make sure we are training the next Latino leaders in our state," said Jason Esteves, the Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education Board chair
"Now more than ever, we must show Brenda Lopez Romero that a grassroots army is ready to have her back and that we want her to run for Georgia 7th Congressional District," added Esteves.

Woodall says Dems attempting to weaponize Tax code
Rep. Rob Woodall (R-Ga.), a member on the House Budget Committee, on Thursday accused Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee of requesting copies of President Trump's tax returns as a way of "politicizing the tax system."
"We're politicizing the tax system," Woodall told Hill.TV's Krystal Ball and Buck Sexton. "Presidents have never been forced to release it, they volunteered to release those tax returns."
"To see what the Ways and Means Committee is doing, now to use its article one power to weaponize the tax code is really disturbing," Woodall added.

Georgia republican representative Rob Woodall has announced he will not seek reelection in 2020.
Woodall, who barely defeated Democrat Carolyn Bourdeaux by 419 votes in 2018, says he wants to focus on things he hasn't been able to as he's focused on his role in congress.
The Hill is reporting that Bourdeaux will run again for the seat in 2020.

I question what else is in the bill?
29 Republicans vote with Democrats to boost federal salaries 2.6 percent~1/30/19
The House voted Wednesday to give federal workers a 2.6 percent raise, over the objections of most Republicans who said federal employees are already paid more on average than their private-sector counterparts.
Lawmakers voted 259-161 for the pay hike, which passed easily with the help of 29 Republicans. Every Democrat voted for the bill.
Democrats who introduced the bill framed their effort as a way to compensate workers sidelined without pay during a 35-day partial government shutdown, which they blamed on President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

"The Federal Civilian Workforce Pay Raise Fairness Act is an important step in treating federal employees with the respect they deserve and compensating them for the financial stress the Trump-McConnell shutdown has inflicted on them," said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., a cosponsor of the bill.
President Trump in December froze nonmilitary federal pay and Democrats, now in the House majority, are eager to override the move.
Republicans argued that federal workers are already highly compensated. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said federal employees with college degrees make an average of 21 percent more than those with degrees in the private sector, and federal workers without degrees make more than 50 percent more than those without a government job.
Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said more than a quarter of the federal workforce earns more than $100,000 annually. He also argued that giving everyone a blanket raise sends a message that Congress doesn't care which employees are doing well, and which aren't.
"It says, it doesn't matter what kind of job you do," Meadows said. Rep. Rob Woodall, R-Ga., agreed.
"No, everybody doesn't deserve a pay raise all the time," he said. "There's not a line in here to target those high performers," or to "find those folks who just do not want to show up and serve."
McConnell is unlikely to schedule the measure for Senate consideration. Still, the raise could become part of the upcoming negotiations on seven fiscal 2019 spending bills that Congress must pass by a Feb. 15 deadline.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., countered Republican arguments by saying the bill doesn't prevent the federal government from weeding out low performing workers. He called the GOP argument "an irrelevant distraction to the matter at hand," which is the need to give the federal workforce a boost.
Raskin also dismissed arguments that the bill would increase the national debt, and said the Republican tax cut bill in 2017 would boost the national debt by $1.9 trillion, according to some estimates.
"That's their attempt to distract everybody from the pay raise America's federal workforce needs," Raskin said.
Before it passed the House, Democrats defeated a GOP amendment to prohibit raises for federal workers who are delinquent on paying taxes.

In mid-November 2011, CBS' 60 Minutes ran a story alleging that Members of Congress were using insider information to benefit on stock trades. The story provoked a furor among the public, leading to the enactment of the STOCK Act, which President Obama signed into law on April 4, 2012. The act had several effects, but the most notable was that it explicitly stated that Members and congressional employees "are not exempt from the insider trading prohibitions arising under the securities laws..." (§4(a)). Additionally, it amended the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, to specify each Member or employee "owes a duty" when in receipt of "material, nonpublic information" obtained as a result of their public office (§4(b)(2)).
Although the STOCK Act amended the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, in the lead up to its enactment, there was some debate over whether Members and staffers were exempt from anti-insider trading law. For instance, in February 2012, when the House passed the STOCK Act, Representative Rob Woodall of Georgia said, "The STOCK Act has been characterized ... as to prevent insider trading by members of Congress, as if members of Congress are allowed to participate in insider trading today, and they are not."

Georgia Democrat wants recount in race with GOP congressman
ATLANTA (AP) - A Democratic congressional candidate will ask for a recount of the vote in her close race against Republican Rep. Rob Woodall of Georgia, the challenger's campaign said Friday.
Woodall, a four-term GOP congressman, is struggling to keep his suburban Atlanta seat that had long been considered safe for Republicans. Unofficial election returns in the 7th District show Woodall with a lead of fewer than 500 votes - or about 0.1 percent - over Georgia State University government professor Carolyn Bourdeaux.
"It is crucial that every eligible vote is counted and every voice is heard," Bourdeaux spokesman Jake Best said in a statement Friday. "We want to make sure every vote was counted correctly and fairly, and that is why we intend to request a recount of this race."
