Senate Judiciary to probe Durham investigation
Durbin's comments come in response to a New York Times report about the probe.
By Madeleine Hubbard
Updated: January 31, 2023 - 12:54pm
The Senate Judiciary Committee will look into reports of abuses in Special Counsel John Durham's probe of the origins of the FBI's investigation into allegations that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election.
"The Justice Department should work on behalf of the American people, not for the personal benefit of any president," Committee Chairman Sen. Dick Durbin said in announcing the effort.
The Illinois Democrat made the announcement Monday, following a New York Times report alleging flaws in the Durham probe.
"As we wait for the results of ongoing internal reviews, the Senate Judiciary Committee will do its part and take a hard look at these repeated episodes, and the regulations and policies that enabled them, to ensure such abuses of power cannot happen again," Durbin also said.
He also said "former President Trump and his allies weaponized the Justice Department" with the investigation, which he said was reportedly filled with "outrageous" abuses that even caused Durham's "longtime colleagues [to] quit in protest."
Longtime Durham aide Nora Dannehy resigned in 2020 over "a series of disputes between them over prosecutorial ethics," the Times stated. Another prosecutor left a year later after objecting to plans to indict Clinton campaign attorney Michael Sussmann, who was later acquitted.
Durham's probe also led to the indictment and subsequent acquittal of Steele dossier source Igor Danchenko. It additionally brought a guilty plea from former FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith for falsifying a record that was used to justify a warrant to surveil former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.
The Times report states that "the Durham inquiry was marked by some of the very same flaws … that Trump allies claim characterized the Russia investigation."
Durham also allegedly gained access to the emails of an aide to billionaire Democratic mega-donor George Soros during his investigation, but the special counsel has not cited information from the emails in any cases he pursued.
Durham is working on his investigation's final report.

John Durham: The low-profile Connecticut prosecutor leading a high-profile hunt for the origin of Trump collusion claims
Dec 04, 2019 at 6:00
U.S. Attorney John H. Durham was back in Connecticut for a retirement dinner earlier this fall and one of the other attendees observed, half facetiously, that he showed no obvious signs of bruising or broken bones.
When Attorney General William Barr put Durham at the center of the most contentious national controversy in years. He is digging into the origins the FBI's counter-intelligence, Russia-collusion investigation of President Donald J. Trump's 2016 campaign.
Durham, a career prosecutor with a gold-plated resume, will be excoriated no matter what he does. The president's allies have created formidable expectations, predicting Durham will prove Democrats have maligned Trump with a succession of made-up controversies. Top Democrats are calling Durham a tool Trump is using for revenge.
Speculation increased last week with the impending release Monday of Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz's report..
Durham's colleagues say there is no one better able to tune out the partisan noise. They predict he will immerse himself in the work and he may end up frustrating everyone.
"They opened Pandora's Box, when they chose John," said Bill Reiner, a retired FBI agent and longtime Durham colleague. "He is going to go wherever the evidence goes. And he does not care where it goes. There is no politics in John. There is no politics in anything he does."
Durham hasn't been a stranger to contention. He helped break up the New England Mafia,...
None of those cases ignited the partisan rancor associated with the so-called "investigation of the investigators," especially after the stakes grew last month when it was widely reported that Durham and his hand-picked, inner circle of Connecticut colleagues have criminal authority.
Analyzing allied intelligence
Durham and his team - including former assistant U.S. Attorney Nora Dannehy and retired FBI agent John Eckenrode, both of Connecticut - have had remarkable success keeping most of what they are doing secret.
It was Barr who disclosed that Durham has conferred with European governments to learn what friendly intelligence services channeled to their U.S. counterparts about Russia and the Trump campaign. Some governments, including the Baltic states and Ukraine, were early opponents of a Trump candidacy..
Durham has been asked to decide - if such intelligence was a basis for the collusion investigation - whether it was obtained and used appropriately under U.S. laws that govern foreign intelligence collection and restrict spying on Americans.
"A Department of Justice team led by U.S. Attorney John Durham is separately exploring the extent to which a number of countries ... played a role in the counterintelligence investigation directed at the Trump campaign during the 2016 election,"

You maybe right. The fact that only the swamp media is reporting about Nora Dannehy is telling. And the fact that all the swamp media did the reporting on September 11, 2020.
Sep 11, 2020
(CNN)Nora Dannehy, a top prosecutor working for US Attorney John Durham on the probe of the Russia investigation for Attorney General William Barr, has resigned, a spokesman for the US Attorney's Office in Connecticut said.
The Hartford Courant, which first reported Dannehy's departure, cited colleagues who told the newspaper that Dannehy was stepping down in part due to concerns of political pressure to deliver a report before the presidential election.

U.S. Attorney John H. Durham today announced that Nora R. Dannehy has returned to the U.S. Attorney's Office and will serve as Counsel to the U.S. Attorney.
Ms. Dannehy first joined the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut in 1991 and served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney until April 2008 when, as the Deputy U.S. Attorney, she became Acting U.S. Attorney upon the resignation of U.S. Attorney Kevin J. O'Connor. She served as U.S. Attorney until May 2010.
Ms. Dannehy was the 49th U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut, and the first woman to hold the position in the history of the Office, which was established in 1789.
As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Ms. Dannehy specialized in the prosecution of complex white collar and public corruption cases. She also served as the Professional Responsibility Officer for the District.

There's something wrong with that investigation. Manpower, initiative, allegiance, whatever. It's taken way too long. Absurd amount of time. Looking more and more like another stall job. And based on zero transparency he could easily wind it down claiming he found nothing. Not even one interview to let the American people in on what he is finding. More government secrecy.

John Brennan says he would testify before Congress and reacts to Durham investigation
Former CIA Director John Brennan opened up about various inquiries into the Russia investigation during an appearance Thursday on MSNBC. After the Senate Homeland Security Committee voted to authorize the use of a subpoena against him in its investigation, Brennan shrugged off the implications of the vote. He said the chairman, Sen. Ron Johnson, and another top Republican conducting a separate review of the Russia investigation, Senate Judiciary Committee Lindsey Graham, "don't have the - ." After stopping himself mid-sentence, Brennan said, "Let me correct that: They don't have the interest in calling me up in front of their committee and to testify publicly in front of the American people." Graham vowed to call Brennan to testify in May, and Brennan was among the dozens of officials from the Obama administration whom Johnson gained broad authority to subpoena on Wednesday. Neither Johnson nor Graham immediately responded to the Washington Examiner's request for comment.
Although Brennan criticized their "hyperpartisan, politically corrupt effort to try to create an environment prior to the election that casts Donald Trump in a positive light and Joe Biden in a negative light," he said he would be "happy" to talk to Johnson's and Graham's panels, just as he did with U.S. Attorney John Durham, who is conducting a criminal inquiry into the Russia investigation. "They don't have to subpoena me," Brennan added. MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace asked him to expound upon that interview with Durham's team last month, which Brennan's longtime aide said took place at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, for eight hours. Wallace, who served as White House communications director during the George W. Bush presidency, asked if "it felt like they were criminalizing your conduct in an aggressive manner" or if Durham's "motives were less than wholesome." Brennan's response was his first public description of that interview in his own words. "No. I think they were testing various theories that they had heard and were asking for my views as well as my recollections on things. But it was handled in a very professional manner," he said.
That echoes some of what Nick Shapiro, Brennan's former deputy chief of staff and senior adviser, said in his statement about the interview. Shapiro also said Brennan was told he is "not a subject or a target of a criminal investigation, and that he is only a witness to events that are under review" and noted the former CIA director confronted Durham about the politicization of his efforts. In what has been dubbed the "Obamagate" controversy, Trump's supporters believe top officials in the Obama administration sought to sabotage Trump's candidacy in 2016 and later his presidency, and many of them have called for indictments. Democrats and national security veterans have warned of a possible politicized "October surprise." Brennan said he is "very concerned" about Nora Dannehy, a top prosecutor on Durham's team, resigning last week reportedly over possible concerns that Attorney General William Barr was pressing them to release a report before the November election. Barr recently denied that he is being pressured by Trump in his handling of Durham's inquiry and claimed that any actions taken won't affect the 2020 election. The attorney general has stressed the Durham review will abide by Justice Department guidelines and repeatedly said former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden, who is now the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee, are not under criminal investigation, despite urging from Trump to rope them in.
Senate Democrats, including vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris, sent a letter to DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz on Thursday, asking him to begin an investigation into the Justice Department's handling of Durham's inquiry. Horowitz's December report criticized the Justice Department and the FBI for at least 17 "significant errors and omissions" related to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page and for the bureau's reliance on the Democratic-funded discredited dossier compiled by British ex-spy Christopher Steele.

Lindsey Graham hinted that a bombshell is imminent in John Durham's review of Mueller's Russia probe
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8733275/Lindsey-Graham-hints-bombshell-imminent-John-Durhams-review-Muellers-Russia-probe.html
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C) has hinted that a huge bombshell is about to drop after a review of the Russia investigation. Graham responded to the Friday resignation of US attorney John Durham's top aide, Nora Dannehy, which was reported to have happened because investigators were not given enough time to gather information on former FBI Director Robert Mueller's team ahead of the November 3 election.
After it emerged devices belonging to Mueller's team were wiped before they could be analyzed, Graham claimed more findings would emerge by next week. 'You think you are mad about the phones being wiped?' Graham said on Fox News' Hannity last week. 'Stay tuned. We'll talk in about 10 or 12 days and we'll see if there is something else you can get mad about.'
On Monday a source close to the situation told Fox News that speculation about Dannehy's reason for leaving is simply from an 'echo chamber trying to make things look bad' for Attorney General Bill Barr.
Dannehy had been a top leader on the team, present for interviews with such officials, including Mr Brennan.
The investigation has not yet produced the results that Trump supporters had been hoping for.
The insider reassured Fox News that Dannehy only 'came in for a brief job.'
'They're doing their job,' the source continued about the investigation which reportedly should have been complete by Labor Day. 'It's not easy to do stuff like this. Takes time.'
Attorney General Bill Barr said last week that there 'could be' more charges coming in the probe.

Durham Speculation Reaching Fever Pitch Following Aide Resignation
Speculation over the status of Durham's review into the origins of the Russia probe has only intensified amid the resignation of a top aide last week and comments from congressional Republicans suggesting developments could soon be announced.
Nora Dannehy, a top aide to Durham, resigned Friday, after working closely with the U.S. attorney for Connecticut for years. Durham's office confirmed her departure but did not elaborate on the backstory.
Reports suggested, though, that Dannehy's departure came amid concerns that the team investigating alleged misconduct at the origins of the Trump-Russia probe was being pressed by top Justice Department officials to produce a report on its findings before their full review was completed, for political purposes.
One source familiar with the investigation pushed back, telling Fox News on Monday that Dannehy "came in for a brief job" and questions surrounding her departure were simply from an "echo chamber trying to make things look bad" for Attorney General Bill Barr.
"They're doing their job," the source told Fox News. "It's not easy to do stuff like this. Takes time."

Could be,
not sure what to think on this because both Sorcha Faal and Sundance say she was a straight shooter. SF even implies she was trained by a JFK appointee who was determined to take down DS players.

John Durham Aide Resigns, Reportedly Because Of Pressure To Complete Trump-Russia Probe
A top prosecutor in the office of U.S. Attorney John Durham submitted her resignation on Friday, The Daily Caller News Foundation has confirmed.
The Hartford Courant reported that Nora Dannehy resigned because of political pressure from Justice Department headquarters regarding Durham's investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe.
According to the Courant, associates of Dannehy's said that she was concerned that Barr is pressuring Durham's team to release a report on the investigation before the probe is finished.
The story notes that Dannehy is not a supporter of President Trump.
"We can confirm that she resigned (effective today), and have no further comment or background to provide," Thomas Carson, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Connecticut, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Barr tapped Durham in April 2019 to investigate FBI and CIA activities related to Trump associates during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Dannehy has worked with Durham for decades, according to the Courant. She left her job for a brief stint in 2019 to work in the defense industry, but Durham recruited her to work with him again after Barr appointed him to oversee the probe.

DOJ Tells KEVIN Corke to Set His Alarm
https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2020/09/12/durham-indictments-coming-n2572209
Attorney General William Barr has vowed to get to the bottom of the Russian collusion probe origins. Why was it started? He noted how he thought the investigation into these claims led to the Obama Department of Justice spying on Donald Trump's presidential campaign. He also agreed with the notion that it was a witch hunt. He also said that the explanations he received for justifying some aspects of this probe simply do not "hang together." With the revelations about the FISA abuses at the FBI that ensnared Carter Page, a former Trump campaign official, to the prosecutorial misconduct hurled at former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn-there's plenty of grounds for inquiry.
U.S. Attorney John Durham has been tasked with getting to the bottom of it. Will his report drop before or after the 2020 election? It's a criminal investigation. And in July there were rumblings that the DOJ under Barr was moving on indictments (via Washington Examiner):
Activity within the Justice Department indicates U.S. Attorney John Durham is working to bring the first indictments as part of a criminal investigation into the Russia inquiry, according to investigative journalist John Solomon.
Solomon, a controversial reporter who similarly reported criminal investigative activity related to Durham's efforts months ago, told Fox Business host Lou Dobbs ... that people are frustrated by the wait, asserting there already is "overwhelming evidence in the public record" that crimes were committed during the Russia investigation.
Solomon, who is now the editor in chief of Just the News, faced criticism last year when his reporting on Ukraine for the Hill got swept up into the impeachment investigation of President Trump and became subject to a review that found he "failed" to identify "important details about key Ukrainian sources." Still, even as the tilt of Solomon's reporting has come into question, he does still boast insider knowledge at the Justice Department that has been borne out.
"My sources tell me there's a lot of activity. I'm seeing, personally, activity behind the scenes of the Justice Department," Solomon said ... adding that Durham's team "is trying to bring those first indictments, and I would look for a time around Labor Day to see the first sort of action by the Justice Department."
Well, if there's any news about Durham right now, it's over the resignation of a top aide in the investigation, Nora Dannehy, over allegations that the report is being rushed to completion to fulfill a political objective (via Fox News):
A top aide to US Attorney John Durham, who is probing the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation, has resigned from the Department of Justice, Fox News has confirmed
A Justice Department source confirmed Friday that the federal prosecutor, Norah Dannehy, has resigned. Dannehy has worked with Durham for years and is a close aide to him.
[...]
Durham is the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. The Hartford Courant in Connecticut said Dannehy informed colleagues in the New Haven US Attorney's Office of her resignation Thursday evening but did not elaborate on the reasons.
But the paper also cited sources in saying Dannehy resigned "at least partly out of concern that the investigative team is being pressed for political reasons to produce a report before its work is done."
Still, something might be up, maybe an early 'October Surprise,' but one that could give Democrats heartburn. Fox News Reporter Kevin Corke tweeted that his source at the DOJ told him to "set his alarm clock" regarding developments from this investigation. Corke said he's not holding his breath, but we'll keep you updated if anything drops.

According to this report, important to know about Nora Dannehy is that she has a "reputation as a pitbull", is "stubborn as hell and very, very smart", has been described as "a grind it out lawyer, she'll just sit there and work … she's a real pro", and who "doesn't play politics"-though to fully understand what motivates her, one need only to know about the mentor she worked under as a law clerk, the late Senior US District Judge T. Emmet Clarie-who was appointed by President John F. Kennedy to the federal bench in 1961, after which Kennedy was assassinated by the Deep State in a public execution-that explains why she has devoted decades of her career working for the United States Department of Justice rooting out secretive Deep State actors for criminal prosecution-and is why when US Attorney Durham began to criminally target the Deep State for their attempted coup against President Trump, he had her join him on 18 March 2019 and stated: "Nora Dannehy has superior legal skills and an unmatched reputation for integrity…During her long tenure in the Justice Department, she led some of the most sensitive investigations ever undertaken by our office…I am thrilled that Nora has chosen to return to public service and look forward to working with her and relying on her counsel and decades of legal experience to further the cause of justice for the people of Connecticut and our nation".

Top prosecutor on DOJ's investigation of the Russia probe just resigned out of fear of Bill Barr - Reports
Federal prosecutor Nora Dannehy has been an important figure in the U.S. Department of Justice, serving as an aide to John Durham in his Russia investigation. But Dannehy, the Hartford Courant reported Friday, has resigned from that probe.
The Courant's Edmund H. Mahony reports that Dannehy, according to her colleagues, is stepping down "at least partly out of concern that the investigative team is being pressed for political reasons to produce a report before its work is done."

Nora Dannehy, Connecticut prosecutor who was top aide to John Durham's Trump-Russia investigation, resigns amid concern about pressure from Attorney General William Barr
Federal prosecutor Nora Dannehy, a top aide to U.S. Attorney John H. Durham in his Russia investigation, has quietly resigned - at least partly out of concern that the investigative team is being pressed for political reasons to produce a report before its work is done, colleagues said.
Dannehy, a highly regarded prosecutor who has worked with or for Durham for decades, informed colleagues in the U.S. Attorney's office in New Haven of her resignation from the Department of Justice by email Thursday evening. The short email was a brief farewell message and said nothing about political pressure, her work for Durham or what the Durham team has produced, according to people who received it.
Durham, who has never even acknowledged that Dannehy was in Washington working for him, had no immediate comment on the resignation.
Durham recruited Dannehy to join his team after he was appointed by Attorney General William Barr more than a year and a half ago to examine the the FBI's legal justification for a disputed counterintelligence investigation that looked for ties between President Donald J. Trump's 2016 campaign and Russian efforts to meddle in the election.
Dannehy is a career prosecutor who worked closely with Durham before leaving the U.S. Attorney's office about a decade ago for a corporate position in the defense industry. Durham persuaded her to return to the justice department and, within weeks, join his team in Washington in the spring of 2019.
Colleagues said Dannehy is not a supporter of President Donald J. Trump and has been concerned in recent weeks by what she believed was pressure from Barr - who appointed Durham - to produce results before the election. They said she has been considering resignation for weeks, conflicted by loyalty to Durham and concern about politics.
Durham is notoriously circumspect and neither he nor members of his team have revealed anything about the direction of their work. But Durham associates, none of whom have specific knowledge of the investigation, have said recently that it is their belief he is under pressure to produce something - perhaps some sort of report - before the presidential election in November.

Reported Anti-Trump Prosecutor Nora Dannehy Resigns from Durham Probe Over Alleged Election Pressure by Barr
Nora Dannehy, a former career federal prosecutor who was asked by her old boss U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham to return to government service to work on the probe of the Trump-Russia hoax investigation abuses by the Obama administration and the Deep State, has resigned, reportedly over concerns the investigation is facing pressure over the upcoming presidential election from Attorney General william Barr
Dannehy's resignation was reported by the Hartford Courant. The Courant reported colleagues of Dannehy said she is not a supporter of President Trump.

'Full throttle': John Durham's Russia team is stacked with veteran investigators
U.S. Attorney John Durham's team of investigators is stacked with veteran prosecutors and former FBI agents carrying out their mission "full throttle" as anticipation builds following recent revelations about Crossfire Hurricane. Durham, selected by Attorney General William Barr last year to carry out an inquiry into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation and conduct of U.S. law enforcement and spy agencies, has added additional members to his team, which is "going full throttle" and "looking at everything," according to sources cited by Fox News. One of the sources said the Justice Department added investigators and "farmed out" part of the investigation "because it is too much for Durham, and he didn't want to be distracted." Jeffrey Jensen, the U.S. attorney for Eastern Missouri selected by Barr in February to review the case against retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and whose efforts unearthed a trove of concealed documents, has reportedly been asked to continue helping with Durham's inquiry following the Justice Department's move last week to drop the criminal charges against the former Trump national security adviser. Jensen was an FBI special agent from 1989 to 1999 and, after that, became an assistant U.S. attorney for 10 years.
The federal prosecutor who filed the motion to drop the false statement charges against Flynn last week was Timothy Shea, the U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C. Shea was tapped for the key prosecutorial role in the nation's capital earlier this year and is reportedly aiding Durham with elements of the so-called "investigation of the investigators." Shea took over as D.C.'s top prosecutor after serving as counsel to Barr. He also spent years as an assistant U.S. attorney in D.C. Barr was asked about the Durham inquiry by CBS News's Catherine Herridge last Thursday. "Well, as you know, I'm not gonna predict the outcome," Barr said. "But I said that we're certainly - there probably will be a report as a byproduct of his work. But we also are seeing if there are people who violated the law and should be brought to justice. And that's what we have our eye on."
Durham's team recently added the chief of the Violent Crimes and Narcotics Trafficking Section for the U.S. attorney's office in D.C., Anthony Scarpelli, according to sources cited by CNN in late April. Scarpelli has spent the last two years leading the office in charge of the fight against murder and the drug trade. Before that, he was the deputy chief of that office, according to his LinkedIn profile. Scarpelli also spent a year as an assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Virgin Islands, 14 years as an assistant U.S. attorney in D.C., and eight years as an assistant prosecutor for Middlesex County in New Jersey. The New York Times revealed more of Durham's deep roster in a report late last month. Nora Dannehy, a veteran prosecutor, was brought back to Durham's Connecticut office in March 2019 and has been helping with the Russia origins investigation. She has the distinction of being the first female U.S. attorney for Connecticut, holding the top spot from 2008 to 2010. During her time as a prosecutor in Connecticut, she helped send a state treasurer and a governor to prison for political corruption. And she has worked on sensitive investigations before, being tapped by then-Attorney General Michael Mukasey in 2006 to investigate whether there was improper political motivation behind the dismissal of nine U.S. attorneys in 2006.
Another longtime assistant U.S. attorney in Connecticut, Neeraj Patel, has also been tapped to assist Durham. Over the course of a decade in that role, Patel has helped put child pornographers, sexual predators, men who made bomb threats, and other violent criminals behind bars. Andrew DeFilippis, an assistant U.S. attorney in Manhattan, is another official roped into Durham's effort. The longtime prosecutor is known for his high-profile terrorism prosecutions, including securing the conviction of Ahmad Khan Rahimi, whose 2016 Chelsea neighborhood bombing injured 30 people, and going after Ahmed Mohammed El Gammal for recruiting a New York college student to travel to eventually die in Syria fighting for the Islamic State. Durham's investigative team also includes at least two FBI veterans.

April 2018
Deputy Chief State's Attorney Leonard Boyle is stepping down to return to the U.S. attorney's office to serve as the top assistant to recently appointed U.S. Attorney John H. Durham.
Boyle previously worked as a federal prosecutor and developed a record of attacking organized crime and public corruption.
Durham, another veteran federal prosecutor with a distinguished record, was selected by President Donald J. Trump to be Connecticut's top federal prosecutor, replacing U.S. Attorney Deirdre M. Daly, who resigned last year.
Boyle, 65, will serve as first assistant U.S. attorney, replacing Michael Gustafson, who was appointed deputy by Daly.
While at the U.S. attorney's office, Boyle also played a key role in the high-profile prosecution related to the corruption case against former State Treasurer Paul Sylvester. Because of recusals resulting from the investigation, Durham was acting U.S. attorney in the Sylvester prosecution, as well as that of former Gov. John G. Rowland.
Boyle was co-counsel on the Sylvester prosecution with former assistant U.S. Attorney Nora Dannehy, who is now his wife. Dannehy now works for United Technologies Corp.
After leaving the office in in 2004, Boyle directed the FBI's terrorist screening center in Washington, then was appointed public safety commissioner by former Gov. M. Jodi Rell. Boyle was appointed deputy chief state's attorney for operations in June 2009 and was reappointed to another four-year term last year. He was responsible for oversight of specialized units in the chief state's attorney's office, including a cold case and shooting task force, statewide prosecution bureau, appellate bureau, civil litigation bureau and several fraud units.

Nora R. Dannehy Returns to U.S. Attorney's Office
In September 2008, U.S. Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey appointed Ms. Dannehy to supervise a national investigation concerning the dismissal of nine U.S. Attorneys in 2006.
"Nora Dannehy has superior legal skills and an unmatched reputation for integrity," said U.S. Attorney Durham. "During her long tenure in the Justice Department, she led some of the most sensitive investigations ever undertaken by our office. I am thrilled that Nora has chosen to return to public service and look forward to working with her and relying on her counsel and decades of legal experience to further the cause of justice for the people of Connecticut and our nation."
Ms. Dannehy departed the U.S. Attorney's Office in December 2010 when she was appointed Deputy Attorney General for the State of Connecticut. From October 2013 to March 2019, she was employed by United Technologies Corporation as Associate General Counsel for Global Ethics and Compliance.
Prior to her service with the U.S. Department of Justice, Ms. Dannehy was an associate with the law firm of Day, Berry & Howard from 1988 to 1991. From 1986 to 1988, she served as a law clerk to Senior U.S. District Judge T. Emmet Clarie.
Ms. Dannehy graduated from Harvard Law School in 1986 and from Wellesley College in 1983.
The U.S. Attorney's Office is charged with enforcing federal criminal laws in Connecticut and representing the federal government in civil litigation. The Office is composed of approximately 68 Assistant U.S. Attorneys and approximately 57 staff members at offices in New Haven, Hartford and Bridgeport.
