Considering Harley Davidson CEO Resignation

I think the HD CEO resignation may not be related to "clean up" of the corruption.
The decline of Harley-Davidson's business was predicted in 2008 in "The Age Curve: How to Profit from the Coming Demographic Storm (June 25, 2008) by Kenneth W. Gronbach
A screenshot from Chapter 22 talks about the expected Harley decline as Boomers age out of the market and Gen X (11% smaller) not maintaining the same pace of sales. This starting happening over the past few years and is only accelerating downward. There were claims about the steel tariff driving the sales down but that was a smoke screen by HD.
Now, I could be wrong (and called a shill or worse) and HD (and its CEO) is tied up in the overall corruption. But HD's fall in sales was predicted 11 years ago based on the coming demographics and I would say CEO is paying the price for not seeing/planning for it. Not EVERY CEO resignation is going to be part of the PLAN.
Has anyone done a dig into Matthew Levatich? I didn't see one. I'll see if I can do it tomorrow.

Harley-Davidson CEO to Leave Struggling Motorcycle Maker
MILWAUKEE (AP) - Harley-Davidson CEO Matthew Levatich is leaving the struggling motorcycle maker.
The Milwaukee company announced Friday that Levatich will leave his post and seat on Harley's board of directors.
Board member Jochen Zeitz will become acting president and CEO while a board search committee is formed and Harley hires an outside search firm to fill the job.
"The Board and Matt mutually agreed that now is the time for new leadership at Harley-Davidson," Zeitz said in a prepared statement.
Harley has been struggling with declining sales in the U.S., its biggest market, as it tries to adapt to an aging customer base while looking to expand markets overseas.
The announcement of the leadership change, made after the markets closed, pushed Harley's shares up 5% in after-hours trading. They had fallen 2.3% with the broader markets during the trading day.
Harley's closing share price Friday was down 18% for the year.
Harley reported a net profit of $423.6 million in 2019, but it made only $13.5 million in the fourth quarter.
The company said Levatich will stay on through March to assist with the transition.
Zeitz also was named board chairman, replacing Michael Cave, who becomes presiding director. He said the board is confident that its leadership experience and understanding of the company will bring an effective transition.

Harley-Davidson CEO exits as iconic bike brand struggles
Harley-Davidson Inc (HOG.N) Chief Executive Officer Matthew Levatich stepped down on Friday after failing to boost U.S. sales of its iconic motorcycles. The company said board member Jochen Zeitz will serve as the interim CEO until an external search firm helps find a new chief executive. Harley has failed for years to increase sales in the United States, its top market, which accounts for more than half of its motorcycles sold. As its tattooed, baby-boomer consumer base ages, the Milwaukee-based company is finding it challenging to woo new customers.
"The board and Matt mutually agreed that now is the time for new leadership at Harley-Davidson," Zeitz said. "We will look to new leadership to recharge our business." Levatich, who took the company's reins in May 2015, bet on new launches, including of battery-powered bikes, to turn around the company's fortunes in the domestic market.
The results, however, remained elusive.
Harley's 2019 U.S. bike sales were the lowest in at least 16 years. Falling sales in the past 12 quarters have forced the company to limit production of its bikes to prevent price discount pressure and protect profit. In 2019, Harley's bike shipment volume in the United States was the lowest in at least two decades. Global shipments were the lowest since 2010. With no sales revival in sight, investors were becoming restless.
Since Levatich took the helm, Harley's shares have fallen 46%. By comparison, the S&P 500 Index .SPX has gained 40%. Falling sales have had made Wall Street speculate whether the company, which symbolized the counterculture movement of the 1960s, would seek refuge in a buyout or turn private to rework its product lines and branding without the pressure from shareholders to shield its profit margins.
Last month, Levatich tried to parry that question by expressing confidence in the current strategy. But he also acknowledged that the challenges facing Harley were "significant" as its heavy and expensive bikes were competing for "people's scarce time, people's scarce funding and commitment."
Levatich will assist with the transition through the end of March, the company said.
