FLYNN MISLED VICE PRESIDENT...
FLYNN HAS COVETED VP POSTION...FLYNN ALLIES CONFIRM..
The White House kept Vice President Mike Pence in the dark for weeks about the warning it had gotten about national security adviser Michael Flynn from the Justice Department, Pence's press secretary said Tuesday.
Pence did not find out until Feb. 9, according to Marc Lotter. Trump was first informed about the Justice Department's concerns regarding Flynn on Jan. 26, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said at Tuesday's daily press briefing.
Flynn's actions as President Donald Trump's short-lived national security adviser are under scrutiny after he resigned Monday night over phone calls he shared with Russia's ambassador to the United States in December - before Trump took office. Among the topics discussed included U.S. sanctions imposed by the Obama administration against Moscow for its alleged role in the 2016 presidential election.
The date the vice president knew is significant because it is when the administration became aware that the Washington Post was about to publish a heavily-sourced story that confirmed Flynn and the Russian ambassador discussed sanctions, despite public denials from Flynn and other incoming senior administration officials including Pence, then the vice president-elect.
Flynn's departure - so far the most high-profile of Trump's senior team - comes after the White House said he misled Pence and other senior administration officials about information he shared with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Flynn had claimed that he had no substantial communication with Kislyak, which Pence later repeated to various news outlets.
In his resignation letter, Flynn, a retired Army lieutenant general, said "the fast pace of events" was to blame for his inadvertently briefing Pence and others with "incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian ambassador."

NEW YORK - Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence's campaign plane slid off a runway during a rainstorm at New York's LaGuardia Airport late Thursday, tearing up concrete before coming to rest on a patch of grass.
When the plane came to a stop, U.S. Secret Service agents rushed from the back of the plane to the front, where Pence was seated, to check on the candidate. He said he was fine, though, and no one had been injured.
"We can see mud on the front windows," a calm Pence said in the press cabin about a minute after the plane came to rest.
Later, the Indiana governor tweeted: "So thankful everyone on our plane is safe. Grateful for our first responders & the concern & prayers of so many. Back on the trail tomorrow!"
In Geneva, Ohio, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump told his supporters that Pence had come "pretty close to grave, grave danger." But, he added: "I just spoke to Mike Pence and he's fine. Everybody's fine."
Democrat Hillary Clinton tweeted: "Glad to hear @mike_pence, his staff, Secret Service, and the crew are all safe."
The plane was coming to New York from Fort Dodge, Iowa, where it had made a hard landing but stayed on the runway earlier Thursday afternoon. After a rally in Fort Dodge, Pence's flight to New York was delayed because of weather. The Indiana governor spent about 20 minutes tossing a football with his staff, journalists and Secret Service agents near the Iowa runway.
Upon arriving at LaGuardia, after a bumpy approach, the Boeing 737 Eastern Airlines charter landed roughly, making first contact with the runway concrete. The pilot slammed on the brakes and the plane began to slide sideways. When it stopped, passengers could smell burning rubber.
The Federal Aviation Administration said, "A crushable concrete runway safety technology called an Engineered Material Arresting System stopped the plane." The FAA website says the material is "designed to safely stop airplanes that overshoot runways."
The 37 passengers, including Pence, and 11 crew members were evacuated through the back of the plane.
In a series of televised interviews on Friday, Pence said he was grateful that the crushable concrete runway worked as designed and for the "quick action" by pilots and first responders.
"Just for a few seconds, you could feel us bouncing off," he told ABC's "Good Morning America." "And with mud splattered up on the windows, we figured we were off the runway."
Pence added: "I'm just really grateful, really grateful, for some quick action, not only by the pilots, but also by first responders" who were quickly on the scene.
The Port Authority shut down the runway following the incident, but later reopened it. In a statement, the agency confirmed that the plane had "overshot" the runway and said there were no injuries and no fire.
Port Authority Executive Director Patrick Foye said the National Transportation Safety Board "will take control of the investigation. The aircraft will remain where it is until the NTSB releases it."
Foye added, "Per the request of the NTSB, we are not going to speculate on the cause of the incident tonight."
Pence spokesman Marc Lotter said Pence spoke with Trump shortly after the landing. The vice presidential candidate also called into the $1 million fundraiser at Trump Tower that he had been expected to attend, Lotter said. The campaign said it was preparing a new, similar aircraft that would be ready soon.

I was looking for this!
"There is no snake on a plane!" Pence press secretary Marc Lotter told CNN at the time.
Another family pet, Maverick the beagle, passed away shortly before the election. Oreo gave up the last of her nine lives in June.
When Pence returned to Indiana in August for the unveiling of his gubernatorial portrait, he brought with him the newest four-legged members of the family: a dog, Harley, and a gray kitten, Hazel.
Longest trip
Pence spent the most time in the air - about 53 hours - during that April trip to South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Australia. Air Force Two logged 21,750 nautical miles. On the trip home, Pence left Australia on a Monday morning, flew to American Samoa for a refueling stop and then to Hawaii. When he woke up again the next morning, it was still Monday. That "Back to the Future" experience prompted Lotter to tweet: "I can neither confirm nor deny Air Force Two has a flux capacitor."

As Americans Distracted by Trump Tweets, President Quietly Attacks Medical Pot Protections
There has been a proverbial sh*t storm brewing online this week and last as President Donald Trump receives both praise and hatred for his tweets over the Roger Stone sentencing. Trump has repeatedly bashed the jury forewoman publicly over the past week since Stone was sentenced to over three years in prison for obstructing a congressional investigation. As many folks argued over the Stone debacle, behind the scenes, the Trump admin has been taking on medical marijuana - and not in a good way.
Despite what president Trump says to certain crowds on the campaign trail, his actions in office speak far louder than empty promises on the road. Trump has never openly supported marijuana legalization though he said he had no objection to US states legalizing forms of marijuana. When it came time to act, however, he did the opposite.
According to a recent report from the Sun Sentinel, the Trump Administration has proposed removing medical marijuana protections in the 2021 fiscal budget and leaked audio revealed the President's belief that smoking weed makes you dumb.
What's more, Marc Lotter, a top Trump campaign spokesperson who serves as director of strategic communications for Trump's 2020 campaign, was asked about the President's stance on changing federal cannabis laws, and minced no words when he said the devil's lettuce has no place in the legal market.
"I think the president is looking at this from a standpoint of a parent-a parent of a young person-to make sure we keep our kids away from drugs," Lotter said. "They need to be kept illegal. That is the federal policy."
These remarks are in complete contrast to former statements made by the president on the campaign trail in 2016. Perhaps prison and pharmaceutical lobby dollars flowing into the GOP may be now steering Trump's decisions.
According to a recent report from NORML:
Trump proposed ending an existing policy that protects state medical marijuana programs from Justice Department interference in addition to a provision that would continue to prohibit the District of Columbia from regulating the sale of marijuana for adult use. This is the opposite of what he said during his first campaign. With WWJ Newsradio 950 in Michigan on March 8, 2016, Trump said "I think it certainly has to be a state - I have not smoked it - it's got to be a state decision ... I do like it, you know, from a medical standpoint ... it does do pretty good things. But from the other standpoint, I think that it should be up to the states."
While the Trump admin takes on medical marijuana this month, Congress quietly killed marijuana reform in December.

PBS Show Insists Sanders Is 'Mainstream,' But Accepts Trump as Racist 'Authoritarian'
Republican characterization of presidential candidate Bernie Sanders's socialist views when, by contrast, in the same show, former Barack Obama advisor Dan Pfeiffer was not challenged on his assertion that Republicans have become "white nationalist authoritarian" with the election of President Donald Trump.
Toward the end of an interview with Marc Lotter of the Trump reelection campaign, after he described Sanders as a "self-proclaimed socialist" twice, and as a "communist sympathizer," CNN/PBS host Christiane Amanpour admonished her Republican guest with a lecture:

Does Marc Lotter understand what the Labor Force Participation Rate is?
The participation rate was higher under Obama than it has been under Trump.
Where are all the economist who Poo Pooed the unemployment rate because of the decreasing Labor Participation Rate.
If the economy is so good can someone tell me why there has not been in increase in this rate?
Something is not adding up.

Trump adds senior campaign staff for 2020 race as risk of a GOP primary challenger rises
President Trump added a new round of senior-level hires to his re-election team, continuing an early push to build out his campaign and preserve a clear path to the Republican nomination in 2020.
The new hires include a trio of roles in media relations, positions that hold outsize importance for a president who turned lessons from his reality television career into billions of dollars in free media during his 2016 race.
Those media aides are communications director Tim Murtaugh, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and strategic communications director Marc Lotter, a former aide to Vice President Mike Pence whose duties will include overseeing the campaign's surrogates on news and social media, according to people familiar with the situation, who said the hires will be announced later Tuesday. The Trump campaign has also hired Cole Blocker as its finance director and Megan Powers as administrative operations director.
The five staffers join a core campaign team that has been in place for much of the last year. Brad Parscale was named campaign manager 12 months ago, about a year earlier than when former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush hired managers for their respective re-election campaigns in 2012 and 2004.
Parscale quickly tapped Michael Glassner as chief operations officer and Lara Trump as a senior adviser. All three worked on Trump's campaign in 2016. The campaign also added Chris Carr as its political director and brought in former White House aides Bill Stepien and Justin Clark as senior political advisers before the end of last year.

Trump Adds Senior Campaign Staff for 2020 Race
New hires for president's re-election team reflect effort to build campaign apparatus early, fend off GOP primary challenges

Mr. Trump filed the paperwork to create his re-election campaign on his first day as president, an unusually early move. The planning is aimed at smothering the kind of primary challenge that helped make George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter one-term presidents, according to people familiar with the president's campaign strategy.
On Friday, former Massachusetts Gov. William Weldannounced a long-shot bid to challenge Mr. Trump for the Republican nomination, saying he was forming a presidential exploratory committee to offer the nation a "mid-course correction."

The US mainstream media's chorus condemnation of US President Donald Trump's summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki has gone so far that CNN claimed Putin had confessed to meddling in US elections.
CNN Newsroom anchor Poppy Harlow made the claim on Tuesday while interviewing Marc Lotter, former press secretary for Vice President Mike Pence. Harlow played the clip of the Russian president responding to a question by Reuters reporter Jeff Mason at Monday's press conference about wanting Trump to win the 2016 presidential election.
"Did you want President Trump to win the election and did you direct any of your officials to help him do that?" Mason asked.
"Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Because he talked about bringing the US-Russia relationship back to normal," was Putin's response, as provided by the translator.
Harlow took the repetition to mean agreement on both questions, and she insisted on replaying the clip after Lotter said he wasn't sure, and that Putin might have been answering just the first part.
While the translator most certainly said that, Putin did not. His full answer, accurately translated from Russian, was, "Yes, I wanted him to win, because he talked about the need to normalize US-Russia relations."
