Q Research General #17461: Ghost Bake, Are We There Yet?
Texas Gov. Candidate Don Huffines, Rep. Bryan Slaton Call For Special Session To Ban Transgender Surgery, Castration For Minors
Texas Republicans killed three bills meant to stop child chemical castrations and transgender surgeries in the 2021 session
Despite Texas House Republicans repeatedly calling the 2021 session the "most conservative in history", Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and others have called for a special session to pass conservative legislation that died in the House. Abbott and many calling for a special session have neglected to call for it to address the three bills aimed at banning child chemical castrations and transgender surgeries that died at the hands of House Speaker Dade Phelan, Calendars Committee Chair Rep. Dustin Burrows, and Health Committee Chair Rep. Stephanie Klick, all Republicans.
In a statement posted to Twitter, Abbott's primary challenger Don Huffines wrote, "Once again, Texans were failed by cowards in Austin. Republican politicians, despite having trifecta control in Texas, worked with Democrats to kill a number of key GOP bills. I support calls for an imminent special session and believe we must pass every GOP priority," wrote Huffines. "Among the bills that Republicans killed were legislative efforts to end taxpayer-funded lobbying, ban social media companies from silencing conservatives, prevent biological boys from playing in girls' sports, and outlaw sex change surgeries and controversial hormone therapist for children - all of which have strong support amongst Texas Republican voters."
Abbott remained uncharacteristically silent on virtually all of these topics, and was harangued by Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller on Tucker Carlson Tonight for his silence regarding transgender surgeries and chemical castrations for minors. Huffines added, "Greg Abbott, who has refused to support legislation on any of these critical topics, indicated that he will call a special session," but notes, "he has made no indication that GOP priorities will be addressed."
Texas conservatives have made their priorities clear, but these priorities continue to be met with inaction and excuses.
We cannot afford to wait any longer for results on top GOP issues.
Texans deserve leadership-no excuses. pic.twitter.com/UbL3LsqNMf
- Don Huffines (@DonHuffines) May 26, 2021
In an email sent to his supporters, Rep. Bryan Slaton added his voice to the call for Texas Republicans to hold a special session and pass legislation ending chemical castrations and transgender surgeries for minors. "Republicans in the Texas House have killed numerous Texas GOP priorities this session: The abolition of abortion, banning child genital mutilation, monument protection, and more, all failed to pass," wrote Slaton. "We need a special session immediately in order to pass SB 29, 12 and 10, along with the remaining Republican priorities and building the wall. The voters gave us a mandate when they elected republicans to the majority, and they are expecting us to get these bills passed, and we must do so."
The call for a special session comes after National File exposed that virtually all top Texas Republicans - Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Phelan, and Klick - received over $250,000 in combined donations from Texas's first clinic offering transgender chemical castrations for children. Patrick alone has received $120,000 from the clinic's PAC since 2016, something former U.S. House candidate Chris Ekstrom told National File is unsurprising.
"I wish I could say I'm surprised that Dan Patrick is taking money from the chemical castration lobby. But during the last session, to my horror, I realized that Dan Patrick was totally unaware of the Monuments Protection Act until we forced him at a meeting of the True Texas Project to acknowledge that Republicans expected him to do something about it," said Ekstrom. "After the meeting, he promptly pushed it through the Senate, where it then died in the House, just like S.B. 1311. Is this déjà vu? $120,000 isn't chump change, and apparently Dan knew which way the wind was blowing in the House."

Jeff Younger, Rep Slaton Make Final Plea To End Transgender Surgeries For Kids, 'This Should Not Be Happening In Texas'
"Of the Republicans on that committee, five of them are authors of the bill. They never voted to schedule their own bill."
Bills to stop child chemical castration and transgender surgeries in Texas have been stalled by the Republican legislature, effectively killing H.B. 1399 - which would strip liability insurance from doctors who perform such acts in the states - when they scheduled it with hundreds of bills left to pass and only days left in the session. Now, Jeff Younger, the father of 9-year-old James Younger, whose mother began forcing him to wear dresses and telling him he is a girl at only two-years-old, has recorded a video with Texas Rep. Bryan Slaton, pleading with the Texas legislators who are working against young children, and asking viewers to call Rep. Stephanie Klick and Rep. Dustin Burrows in a bid to pass another bill that would classify these types of surgery as child abuse.
"I'm honored to have my good friend Jeff Younger here today, and we've got an update for you," Slaton began in a video recorded yesterday. "We are still currently, in the House, working on Monday's calendar. The bill to protect his son, HB 1399, was scheduled on Wednesday's calendar on page 8 out of 10. There are literally hundreds of bills in between our first one today and the bill that would protect his son and other children from child gender modification. That's very sad and unfortunate, and very frustrating as well."
"Where we're at now, we have a week and a day, and the only bill left is Senate Bill 1646, it's passed the Senate and it's referred to the Public Health Committee, so now where we're at, Chairman Klick is Chair of Public Health, once it's voted out of there it goes to the Calendar Committee, that's Chairman Burrows," Slaton explained. "We're literally right back where we were, with a week and a half to get things done. What I'm asking you to do is get on your knees and pray. This should not be happening in Texas, and I want you to also think, if this was your child or your grandchild, what would you want an elected official to do?"

Texas Republican Legislator Calls Woman 'Crazy' For Wondering Why He Won't End Child Gender Transitions
A Texas legislator who is silent about his fellow Republicans blocking a bill to ban transgender surgeries for minors called his constituent "crazy" for asking.
Activists are sounding the alarm in Texas, as the legislature has only one day left to add H.B. 1399 - which would ban chemical castration and radical transgender surgeries for minors - to the calendar. With only hours left to act on the legislation, Republican Texas Rep. Jared Patterson called a woman "crazy" and said he would have called police to "haul out the trash" had he known she apparently visited his office.
Texas Republicans have until Monday to get H.B. 1399, which would ban radical transgender surgeries and chemical castration for minors, on the calendar for a full House vote. Rather than address a constituent's concerns about why this is not being accomplished, Rep. Jared Patterson instead called her a "crazy person" and suggested he would have police arrest her if she visited his office.
After Tracy Shannon, an activist urging legislators to schedule and vote for the bill that would prevent life altering transgender treatments for minors in Texas, reported that her "activist was told by [Jared Patterson's] Chief of Staff that [Rep. Dustin Burrows] and [Rep. Get your facts straight crazy person. Our team is tight and will not be pulled apart by your conspiracy theories.
Chairman @Burrows4TX, Speaker Craddick, and Speaker @DadePhelan, and our team of Rs should be commended for the most conservative session in history. https://t.co/rAz8qvSwyi

When another Twitter user confused Shannon for a male activist who visited Patterson's office, Patterson called Shannon "trash" and said he would have called the police had he known of her presence. "My staff is far too professional and courteous," wrote Patterson. "I would've had [Texas Department of Public Safety] haul out the trash."
Ohhhh. I heard about that. My staff is far too professional and courteous. I would've had DPS haul out the trash.

National File has repeatedly attempted to contact Patterson about his comments. National File attempted to reach Patterson via phone, email, and Twitter, and will update this article when we receive a response. However, Patterson did respond to a tweet from this reporter, National File Editor-in-Chief Tom Pappert.

POLL: 91.7% Of Texans Say Child Sex Changes Should Be Illegal, But Abbott, Phelan, And Burrows Are Stalling Bill To Ban Them
An overwhelming majority of Texans want gender bending surgeries made illegal for minors, yet Abbott, Phelan, and Burrows refuse to act.
In a recent poll of Texans living in District 21, 91.7% of the respondents indicated they believe child transgender surgeries and drugs should be made illegal. This poll was released even as Gov. Greg Abbott, Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, and Texas Rep. Dustin Burrows - all Republicans - are stalling legislation to ban such surgeries and drugs for minors in the state.
According to the poll, 91.7% of parents believe that Texas politicians should pass legislation to ban children from becoming "transgendered with drugs or surgical procedures." Similarly, 89.4% of parents believe that "parents, psychologists, and medical doctors" should not be allowed to "alter a child's body with surgery or drugs for gender transitioning purposes." Additionally, 92.1% of respondents believe that biological males should not be allowed to compete in girls' sports. An overwhelming 91.6% of respondents said that it is not okay for "Texas to have a Speaker that supports chemical castration of children."
The overwhelming majority of respondents, 77.9%, believe that Phelan - who multiple sources tell National File is stalling the legislation to prevent Abbott from having to sign or veto it - should "demand that Governor Abbott sign Bills that would protect Texas children from gender transitioning procedures." 84.6% also said it is important for Phelan to protect children from "being transgendered by parents."
The poll of around 500 unique households living in Texas House of Representatives District 21 was conducted May 3 through May 6 by the Conservative Response Team. 64.9% of respondents identify as Republican, 13.1% identify as Democrats, 16.8% identify as independent, and 5.2% identify as Libertarian. 36.2% of respondents were male, and 63.8% were female. District 21 encompasses all of San Antonio, and a large portion of Austin. Over 800,000 Texans live in District 21, and the district has generally voted Republican since 1978.
National File obtained the poll as Texas Republicans have only day remaining to add H.B. 1399 to the calendar, something controlled by Rep. Dustin Burrows. Texas Agricultural Commissioner Sid Miller recently appeared in an advertisement urging Burrows to place the item on the calendar, and on Friday appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight to urge immediate action from Burrows, Abbott, and other Texas Republicans.

Yesterday, National File interviewed Jeff Younger, the father of James Younger, a 9-year-old boy who became the focus of national news after he was recorded by his father on video, at the age of two, explaining that his mother - Jeff Younger's ex-wife - was forcing him to wear dresses and nail polish, and told the boy he was a girl. Younger told National File that the proposed legislation is "mild" but would protect children like his son, and urged the Texas legislature to act immediately, or face an end to their time in the legislature. Younger also warned that he and others will work against Abbott, regardless of his future political goals.

Father Of James Younger, Whose Mother Says He's Trans, Urges Texas To Pass Bill Ending Child Trans Surgeries
Jeff Younger urges Texas Republicans to pass the stalled legislation that would save children like his 9-year-old son from life altering transgender surgeries.
H.B. 1399, a bill that would ban chemical castration and radical transgender surgeries for children in the state of Texas, appeared stalled in the legislature last week, until Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller spoke to Tucker Carlson Friday night on his nightly Fox News program, and urged the Texas Republicans stalling the bill to act to protect children. Now, Jeff Younger, the father of 9-year-old James Younger, who has been embroiled in a fight over gender identity since the child was only two, is speaking out to urge Texas Republicans to act.
Younger went viral when he posted a video of his son, taken at only two years old, explaining that his mother, Younger's ex wife, puts him in a dress, paints his nails, and tells him he is a girl. "My son just turned 9 yesterday, and I've been fighting it since then, so it's been six solid years of education," Younger explained. "I'm basically fighting every major institution in the government, and almost every professional body."
"We've been able to get a bill to pass the Senate, which would outlaw sex change surgeries on children, which is being done in Texas, there's hundreds of children that are in the pipeline right now," Younger explained. "It would also ban chemical castration of children, which there are thousands of children in Texas right now who are actually on cross sex hormones."
However, until last week, the bill seemed stalled in the Texas House. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller appeared in a radio ad that laid the blame on Rep. Dustin Burrows, who is on the committee that sets the legislative calendar for the House, and other Texans have laid the blame on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, who National File has been told repeatedly receives his orders from Gov. Greg Abbott. All politicians alleged to be holding up H.B. 1399 are members of the Republican Party.
"The person that, right now, is the proximate cause of the delay, is Dade Phelan, the Speaker of the House," Younger told National File. "Dade Phelan has a 100% approval rating from almost all of the gay and transgender lobby organizations. He's a longtime member of the LGBT caucus, he is a huge LGBT advocate in the legislature. He is the Speaker of the House, and he can control all of this."
Younger explained that Phelan is a recipient of funding from Paul Singer, a globalist Republican fundraiser who is the "largest donor of the Human Rights campaign" and also among the largest donor to Republicans. Singer became well known last year, when Carlson lambasted Singer and those like him as enemies of the American middle class, rural America, and the wider Trump-inspired populist movement.
"The big donors in the Republican Party are at odds with what the voting base wants. When it comes down to it, Governor Abbott, Dade Phelan, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, a lot of times they go with what the donors want and not what Democracy is telling them to do," Younger told National File. Younger warned Abbott and other Texas Republicans that, should they refuse to pass common sense legislation to protect children, he and others will work to inform the public of their corporate agenda and damage their hopes of a future in national politics.
"Go after Dade Phelan, let his constituents know, call his office and let him know: He can be loyal to his paymasters in the Human Rights Campaign, or he can lose his job. We need to do the same thing to the people in the Calendar Committee, they can obey their paymasters who are offering them power in the state government, power as lobbyists when they get out of government, they can obey these people and that's fine, they can make a lot of money, but they won't be elected officials in this state anymore," said Younger. "And finally, we need to let Governor Abbott know that we are going to pass this bill, and we need to start reaching out to Democrats."
"One of the things that has not been reported is many Democrats have approached Republicans who support this bill and said they also support it," Younger told National File. "We have a wedge issue with the left here on this gender modification business. 40% of the Democrats are on our side on this issue." He added, "We need to let Abbott know that if he doesn't [sign the bill], we're going to use this wedge issue against him and he won't have a political future in Washington like he hopes he does."

New Ad Slams Abbott For Attempt To Kill Bill Banning Child Gender Transitions, Genital Mutilation, Chemical Castration
Abbott is reportedly blocking a bill that would ban genital mutilation and chemical castration of children to please corporate America.
Multiple conservative activists in Texas inform National File that Texas Governor Greg Abbott is attempting to prevent H.B. 1399, which would ban child gender transitions - including chemical castration and genital mutilation of minors - from reaching his desk, and is pressuring Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan to prevent the bill from moving forward. A conservative activist group in Texas released a new ad slamming Phelan and Abbott for refusing to advance the legislation.
"There's a bill in Austin to ban the gender transitioning of kids. The GOP leaders plan to allow this horrific practice to continue. Governor Abbott and House Speaker Greg Abbott want to kill the bill. By killing the bill, Abbott and Phelan would allow the butchering and chemical castration of children as young as 7 years old," the new ad, which is currently airing on Texas radio explains. National File obtained a video version of the ad this morning.
"Even the Ag Commissioner Sid Miller knows this bill has got to get through," the narrator notes, referring to a previous ad using the voice of Miller. The previous ad slammed Texas Rep. Dustin Burrows - who is in charge of the legislature's calendar - for allegedly refusing to advance the legislation to a full vote. At press time, the legislature is still waiting for Burrows to assign a day to vote on the bill, despite it having a total of 45 sponsors.
"Folks outside of Texas can't believe this horrific practice still continues in Texas, but it does, and Dade Phelan and Greg Abbott aren't doing their jobs to stop it. RINO House Speaker Dade Phelan has one job: Send a bill to Greg Abbott's desk that prevents chemical castration, and protects our kids from crazy doctors and parents. Stop this evil practice of permanently mutilating our kids."
Conservative activists in Texas have informed National File that Abbott is pressuring the legislature to stall the bill and keep it from coming to a vote before the end of the 2021 legislative session to appease large, politically left wing corporations who have come to Texas in recent years. Previously, former U.S. House candidate Chris Ekstrom told National File that "Abbott's woke corporate cronies have decreed that we can't be Texas anymore, and no one's taken more money from them than Greg Abbott, no one in the country," said Ekstrom. "Not even Joe Biden."
Similarly, Abbott is reportedly pressuring a different state legislator to stall legislation that would make it illegal for employers to discriminate against employees based on their COVID-19 vaccination status. Without the bill signed into law, a Texas nurse claims she was fired for her refusal to get the vaccine, even though she has recently tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies that suggest she is currently naturally immunized from the disease.

TEXAS: Bill Preventing Businesses From Firing Those Without COVID Vax Stalled By Republican Legislator
The bill would prevent employers from discriminating against non-vaccinated employees or job seekers.
Texas Rep. Angie Chen-Button has thus far slow walked a bill that would prevent businesses in Texas from firing employees because they have not received one of the controversial COVID-19 vaccines. Thus far, the bill is stalled in a committee with only days remaining in the legislative session, according to Current Revolt.
Texas House Bill 1687, which would ban discrimination by employers based on their COVID-19 vaccination status, is currently stuck in the International Relations & Economic Development committee. This committee is chaired by Rep. Angie Chen-Button. Multiple calls to Chen-Button's office were made. No comment was given and we were told to send an email.
Unconfirmed rumors are circulating in Austin that Rep. Chen-Button refuses to move this bill out of office due to a request by Texas Instruments to require vaccinations for employees. Rep Chen-Button is a former employee of Texas Instruments and Texas Instruments headquarters also happens to be located in one of the largest parts of her district.
Currently, Houston Methodist Hospital is saying it will fire workers who refuse COVID-19 vaccinations. It seems this may be a common issue if this bill does not pass. Many Texans have voiced frustration with Rep Chen-Button this session as she abstained in a very important vote on constitutional carry for Texans.
She was also one of a handful of Republicans that voted with Democrats against an amendment that would have added pornography addiction to the list of addictions that the Brain Institute of Texas would be charged with studying.
While the Texas legislature drags its feet on this bill, the Florida legislature recently passed a bill that bans businesses, governments, and educational institutions from requiring a COVID-19 vaccine passport in the state only weeks after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order doing the same. The bill will now need to be signed by DeSantis to become law. When reached by National File, Florida Rep. Anthony Sabatini suggested Republicans around the country should use the legislation as a model, and "Pass the same exact bill. Take the bill and pass it in every state in the country."
House Bill 1687 is not the only bill that appears to be stalled in the Texas legislature. National File recently reported that Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller appeared in a radio ad slamming Texas Rep. Dustin Burrows for slow walking a bill that would ban chemical castrations for minors in the state, suggesting voters call Burrows and make their dissatisfaction heard.

TEXAS: Sid Miller Slams Dustin Burrows For Slow Walking Bill Banning Kiddie Chemical Castration In New Ad
"One man standing in the way, that's your Rep. Dustin Burrows of Lubbock," said Miller. "Tell Dustin that sex change operations on minors are just flat wrong"
National File obtained a radio ad that began airing this morning that features the voice of Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller that excoriates Texas Rep. Dustin Burrows, who heads the Texas House Calendar Committee, for slow walking HB 1399, which would effectively ban chemical castration of minors in the state.
Miller says Burrows is dragging his feet on the bill as the end of the legislative session approaches in a clandestine bid to prevent Texas from passing a bill similar to legislation passed in Arkansas that made national headlines when the legislature overturned an attempted veto by Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson.
"You know that it's wrong that sex change operations is perfectly legal on minors in Texas. Really? Hey, we don't even allow minors to drink, buy cigarettes, vote, or engage in sexual activity. But we do allow them to have life-altering sex-change operations," said Miller in the radio ad. "You know, House Bill 1399 will stop that here in Texas. By banning hormone, sex change and chemical castrations on minors."
"One man standing in the way, that's your Rep. Dustin Burrows of Lubbock, who chairs the Calendars Committee and is holding up the bill because woke corporations put pressure on him. We need to fight back," Miller declared. Miller then instructed listeners to call Burrows, and lists a phone number before asking listeners to "Tell Dustin that sex change operations on minors are just flat wrong" and "If he won't stop them, you'll replace him with someone who will."
Burrows previously resigned from his position as Chair of the Texas House GOP caucus after he was caught in an audio recording plotting to target fellow Republicans who were political opponents of former House Speaker Dennis Bonnen and Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Despite this, Burrows was reelected, and former Texas candidate for U.S. House Chris Ekstrom told National File that he is widely viewed as a "hatchet man" for Abbott and corporate interests in the state.
"We assume that Rep. Barrows was given this important position in order to protect the priorities of Governor Abbott and the current Speaker. He's their hatchet man, he's there to snuff conservative bills," Ekstrom told National File. "I am horrified to realize I live in a Texas that is becoming a dystopia. Governor Abbott promised not to allow us to become California. He lied, Texas is on its way to California."
"Abbott's woke corporate cronies have decreed that we can't be Texas anymore, and no one's taken more money from them than Greg Abbott, no one in the country," said Ekstrom. "Not even Joe Biden."
Legislation forbidding minors from undergoing life altering surgeries and chemical castrations has become a major issue for conservative voters, with Fox News host Tucker Carlson lambasting the Arkansas governor when he attempted to prevent similar legislation from passing. Hutchinson later had his veto overridden by a majority of the Arkansas legislature, effectively preventing chemical castration of children in the state.

Texas House Speaker declares 'constitutional carry' gun bill dead after gun-rights activist shows up at his home
Texas Rep. Dennis Bonnen, R-Angleton, talks to the media at the Texas Capitol in Austin, Texas. A Texas gun rights activist drove to the homes of Republican legislators he blamed for stalling proposals to expand gun laws, prompting state troopers to monitor Bonnen's, the now House speaker, family residence.
Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen declared Friday that a "constitutional carry" gun bill was dead after a gun rights activist showed up at his Houston-area home to advocate for it.
Chris McNutt, executive director of Texas Gun Rights and a supporter of the legislation that would allow Texans to carry firearms with a license, showed up to Bonnen's home in Lake Jackson on Wednesday to question why the bill had stalled, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Bonnen, a Republican, was in the state capital of Austin but his wife teenage sons were inside the home. He said McNutt's actions were a demonstration of "insanity" and called him an "overzealous advocate for criminals to get a gun."
"If you want to talk about issues and you want to advocate, you do it in this building. You don't do it at our residences," Bonnen said. "Threats and intimidation will never advance your issue. Their issue is dead."
The bill, sponsored by Republican state Rep. Jonathan Stickland, remained pending in the House Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee for four months into the legislative session, according to the paper.
McNutt also visited the homes of GOP state representatives Dustin Burrows and Four Price. Bonnen said his home had been placed under surveillance by the state Department of Public Safety following the incident.
The paper reported that McNutt posted rants on Facebook for the bill's lack of movement prior to driving to Bonnen's house. McNutt told local media outlets that Bonnen's response was a "deliberate overreaction."
"If politicians like Speaker Dennis Bonnen think they can show up at the doorsteps of Second Amendment supporters and make promises to earn votes in the election season, they shouldn't be surprised when we show up in their neighborhoods to insist they simply keep their promises in the legislative session," he said.
