Migrants from Russia are smuggled into Key West by boat, officials say
FORT LAUDERDALE - Undocumented migrants from Russia and other former Soviet countries were smuggled Sunday into Key West, Fla., authorities said, raising concerns that the war in Ukraine is spurring refugees and others to seek dangerous new routes to the United States.
Alyson Crean, a spokeswoman for the Key West Police Department, said a boat chartered from Cuba docked at the south end of Duval Street, in the heart of the city's tourist district, around 4 p.m. Sunday.
Crean said Key West police were called after about 15 of the migrants, whom she identified as being from Russia or other countries, walked into Southernmost Beach Cafe. Police alerted the Department of Homeland Security and its sub-agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, about the landfall.
"They docked on a pier there and disembarked and went into the cafe," said Crean, who referred additional questions to federal investigators.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Monday afternoon that 15 migrants from Russia and a pair of former Soviet republics were smuggled into the Keys on a sport-fishing vessel and taken into U.S. Border Patrol custody. Nine are from Russia, four are from Kazakhstan and two are from Kyrgyzstan, officials said, and all are being processed for deportation.
DHS said the incident was an example of "maritime smuggling."
"Smugglers have no regard for the lives of migrants, and far too many lives are lost at sea as individuals take the dangerous journey in makeshift boats, rafts, and other vessels ill-equipped to handle the rough waters," DHS spokesman Eduardo Maia Silva said in a statement.
Anyone "attempting to enter the United States by sea, without a lawful basis to enter, will be subject to removal," he said.
Officials in Monroe County, which includes Key West and the rest of the Florida Keys, said witnesses told them that the 15 migrants who showed up at the cafe may have been part of a larger group of about 40 individuals who traveled in the boat from Cuba. DHS did not respond to questions about whether officials are searching for any other passengers or crew, and what happened to the boat.
The other occupants, most believed to have been from Russia, departed before CBP agents arrived at the scene, county leaders said. Although Monroe County officials are accustomed to Cuban migrants landing in the Florida Keys, they said it was the first time they've encountered migrants from Russia or Eastern Europe crossing the Straits of Florida into the United States.
"This is something different and new," said Monroe County Mayor David Rice, adding that officials initially treated the landing as a "national security event."

I'll start with what might seem a tangential issue, but to me it is the biggest pointer to the fact that I should have paid more attention all along…
But to motivate that I'll describe my own history of thinking on DJT. I really didn't think about him at all, and if I did, I thought of him as a self-promoter up to no real good… and yet… he REALLY stood out in the Ali G video (link below). Sacha Baron Cohen is now a failed prick, but I thought Da Ali G show was great, and yet DJT is the ONE guy who doesn't "succumb" at all. I saw it and was impressed… but I didn't think it out. I didn't became a convinced fan until LATE in the 2016 game. Live and learn.
Now here's the thing with Susan Rice: her son, John David Rice-Cameron, supports Trump. Not just sorta kinda, but REALLY. (And you may know that, but just like me, maybe you didn't think it through…) He became the president of the Stanford College Republicans, and moved them decisively in the MAGA direction.
What is the "official" view at Stanford regarding Trump? (No need to answer.) Does it take intelligence and courage for a Stanford student to ACTIVELY support Donald Trump? And to try to convince others too? In one case, Rice-Cameron was assaulted by a crazed woketard and charges were filed.
Read the articles for more info. Note in particular how he helped bring Robert Spencer to campus. That's Robert Spencer, certified SPLC "Islamophobe". Wait, what? Wasn't Rice-Cameron's own mother notorious for promulgating the notion that Muslims got their feelings so hurt by a YT vid that they couldn't control themselves and had to attack the American outpost in Benghazi?
Well, perhaps Rice-Cameron rebelled against his family? Not to hear them tell it: he and his parents repeatedly say there is no tension, and that he was raised in an atmosphere that promoted freedom of thought. Can you think of any comparable case? Any child of elite parents who not only ardently supports Trump, but also discounts any suggestion of familial discord? Or does it not rather seem that children of such parents follow the safe route, accumulating fake "achievements" as they progress towards higher roles in the official game?
Think Chelsea Clinton. It may even be that Q has POINTED us towards the contrast between Chelsea and Cameron-Rice. They both went to Stanford, and Q526 even points to the fact that she married into a corrupt family. But look again at the "Our movement" video. DJT: "Anyone who challenges their control is deemed a 'sexist', a 'racist', a 'xenophobe'. They will lie, lie, lie, and then again, they will do worse than that: they will do whatever is necessary. The Clintons are criminals - remember that." When he says "worse than that", the image shows HRC lying about Benghazi. And then there is a cut to the Clintons, INCLUDING Chelsea. He is saying that SHE is a criminal too, and we should remember that.
But the juxtaposition of those two shots perhaps provides most food for thought. Susan Rice would seem to be involved in the very "worse than that"… But doesn't that make it extremely puzzling how her son breaks the mold and fights for the right and good?
Something is VERY odd here, and the more I think about it, the odder it gets.
Of course, that hardly proves that Susan Rice is a white hat, let alone that she is Q.
But this is only the second post…

More on Marie-Therese Chouteau:
"Laclède died in 1778. Afterwards, Marie-Therèse remained in the stone house Laclède built for her. From then until her death, she continued to be an influential, successful figure in the St. Louis colony. She bought and sold slaves and supervised a posse for socalled runaway slaves. Many of the people she hunted were indigenous to the land of St louis Mo.
In addition, she helped her sons with controlling the slave trade; these sons later became leaders in St. Louis government and business for the years to follow, drawing from many of her key attributes. Her daughters as well were successful in their own right; given her large fortune at this time, Marie-Therese helped them marry well by giving them large dowries.
Upon the death of Madame Chouteau on August 14, 1814, she was buried on the grounds of the Basilica of St. Louis, King of France (which is now on the grounds of the Gateway Arch National Park). However, when bodies were dug up in 1849 to move them to Calvary Cemetery and Bellefontaine Cemetery during a cholera epidemic, her remains could not be found. "
"Virtually all contemporary histories of St. Louis attribute a founding role to her including The First Chouteaus: RIVER BARONS OF EARLY ST. LOUIS by William E Foley and C David Rice ISBN 0-252-06897-1 and Before Lewis and Clark: The Story of the Chouteaus, the French Dynasty That Ruled America's Frontier by Shirley Christian ISBN 0-374-52958-2.
However, there have been challenges to the story, including challenges by her descendents.
Part of the challenge were considered efforts to show that she did not have a relationship outside of marriage. Other challenges were based on formal records.
Records at the St. Louis Cathedral (New Orleans) indicate that all the Chouteau children were baptized there and indicated the elder Chouteau was the father. Further records indicate that Laclède did not leave his inheritance to the Chouteaus while the elder Chouteau did.[3]
The legend says that Laclède and Marie had a common law marriage and that Laclède signed away part of his property to them to protect them and maintain the appearance that Marie was in a proper civil law relationship with the elder Chouteau.
However, one 1790s account, published in translation, by a French officer serving the Spaniards, Nicolas de Finiels, notes no founding role for Chouteau and even goes as far as to say there was already a hamlet at the site of St. Louis even before the founding of St. Louis. The tale of Chouteau's role in the founding of St. Louis does not appear in the historical introduction of the first St. Louis city directory in 1820, and his name was not mentioned at all at the first celebration of the town's past in 1847. A New Orleans militia census conducted after Laclede had departed New Orleans [4] shows him still at home with his mother and brothers.
The earliest St. Louis historian, Wilson Primm, dismissed the story. Auguste's role in the founding is based on his own testimony in a land dispute in the 1820s, and on an unsigned manuscript "Journal" attributed to him, announced found by his sole surviving son, Gabriel, in 1857. "
i don't know about you anons, but for me, she was the one pulling the strings behind the curtain while her husband and son were puppets doing the work up front. And have you ever seen in that period in history a woman leave her husband the way she did and live with another man and still be called QUEEN? And did anons notice where she was burried = it's quiet a high honnor if you ask me. And what about this ambiguity about their "legend" and what really took place with that family.
For me, this woman smells like a Payseur heir, just like Alva and Eleanor were.
And anons, i don't know if you know this, but Marie-Antoinette's mother = the empress of Austria was named MARIA-THERESA. Meaning Marie-Thérèse was the name of Louis XVII/Payseur maternal grandmother.
