Cops recover truckload of firearms stolen from Peterborough

A trailer carrying a "large quantity" of firearms has been found after it was reported stolen in Peterborough, Ont., over the weekend, police say.
In a news release on Feb. 16, Peterborough police said the trailer containing more than 2,000 firearms has been recovered in Peel Region, though the exact location was not stated.
"The trailer and its contents are being returned to Peterborough and Peterborough Police, along with the manufacturer, will be going through the items to determine if anything is still missing," the police said.
Savage Arms, a firearms manufacturer based in Lakefield, Ont., had said that the theft involved one of its shipping partners. Lakefield is a small town 16 kilometres north of Peterborough.
"The incident involved Savage Arms products," Al Kasper, the president and CEO of the company, told Global News on Feb. 14. "Strict security measures were in place and local authorities were notified immediately and are leading the active investigation."
According to the police, the theft occurred around 3 a.m. on Feb. 13 from a yard at a trucking company on Parkhill Road East in Peterborough.
On Feb. 14 afternoon, the police confirmed that all the stolen firearms were of small calibre and that no ammunition for the firearms was in the trailer.
Police said they located the stolen truck in Brampton, Ont., on the night of Feb. 14. At the time, the trailer and firearms were not found with the truck.
In the latest news release, police said they are still searching for the individuals involved in the theft.
In a video update on Feb. 13, Detective Staff Sergeant Michael Jackson from the investigative service division of Peterborough Police Service said that the theft appeared to be an "isolated crime of opportunity rather than a targeted incident."
Meanwhile, organizers of the Freedom Convoy in Ottawa have said they received information from credible sources that "nefarious elements" are planning to plant weapons at their demonstration in Ottawa in an effort to discredit the protest.
"Today on Feb. 14, we received information from multiple believed, reliable sources that firearms may be planted in Ottawa specifically around the Freedom Convey to discredit the protest and to use as a pretext to forcibly remove peaceful protestors," said Daniel Bulford, a former RCMP officer who is assisting the protest organizers with security, in a video post on the convoy's Facebook page.
"Due to the nature of this information, we felt it prudent to notify the public in the interest of their safety."
Bulford said that the "private intelligence" correlates with the more than 2,000 firearms that were reported stolen in Peterborough on Feb. 13.
"Our sources have notified us that these weapons may be planted by nefarious elements and at this point, we have no further knowledge about who is behind this act of sabotage," he said.
"As soon as we received this information, we notified the appropriate authorities with whom we are collaborating, including the Ottawa Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Parliamentary Protective Service.

Freedom Convoy Organizers Say They Notified Police After Being Told "Nefarious Elements" Plan To Discredit Protest

Organizers of the Freedom Convoy in the Canadian capital say they have notified police after being told that "nefarious elements" are planning to plant weapons at the Ottawa COVID-19 mandate demonstrations as a "pretext to forcibly remove peaceful protestors."

In a video posted on social media on Feb. 14, Daniel Bulford, a former RCMP officer who is helping the protest organizers with security, said they have received information from sources they consider to be "reliable" that the weapons may be planted.

The information, Bulford said, correlates with the more than 2,000 firearms that were stolen in Peterborough, Ont., on the morning of Feb. 13.

Peterborough Police Service officers had said they are investigating the incident regarding the stolen firearms, which were taken from a trucking yard in the city in the early hours of the morning.

The truck and trailer were carrying more than 2,000 firearms with magazines. Officials said no ammunition was taken.

"Today on Feb. 14, we received information from multiple believed, reliable sources that firearms may be planted in Ottawa specifically around the Freedom Convey to discredit the protest and to use as a pretext to forcibly remove peaceful protestors," said Bulford, who says he was a sniper supervisor with the RCMP regularly tasked with protecting the prime minister. He left the force since he didn't want to have COVID-19 vaccination.

"Due to the nature of this information, we felt it prudent to notify the public in the interest of their safety. This private intelligence correlates with the approximately 2,000 firearms stolen in Peterborough Ontario on Sunday morning, February 13.

"Our sources have notified us that these weapons may be planted by nefarious elements and at this point, we have no further knowledge about who is behind this act of sabotage.

"As soon as we received this information, we notified the appropriate authorities with whom we are collaborating, including the Ottawa Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Parliamentary Protective Service."

The Epoch Times has reached out to law enforcement for comment.

Bulford urged demonstrators to inform the police immediately if they witness any suspicious activities.

He also asked the police not to "act discriminately" towards demonstrators.

"We expressly affirm the principle that change can only occur within the democratic process. We have never, nor do we ever, intend to step outside of this democratic process. Public and police safety remains our paramount concern," he said.

The trailer was a 2014 Hyundai 53-foot dry freight van trailer with licence plate V3092A. The white trailer has a silver metallic line that runs horizontally the whole length of the trailer.

It's a success that experts partly attribute to the deep knowledge of law enforcement and military tactics that exist in the convoy's organizational structure.
The group Police on Guard, formed during the pandemic, has endorsed the truck convoy. On its website, it publicly identifies more than 150 mostly retired police officers who are against government-imposed public health measures, such as vaccine mandates. More than 50 former Canadian Forces soldiers are also named on its site.
The organization says it has "boots on the ground" in Ottawa and has linked to YouTube videos of its members participating in the protest.
Furthermore, the leadership team for the protesters calling themselves the Freedom Convoy includes:
Daniel Bulford, a former RCMP officer who was on the prime minister's security detail. He quit last year after refusing to get the vaccine and is the convoy's head of security.
Tom Quiggin, a former military intelligence officer who also worked with the RCMP and was considered one of the country's top counter-terrorism experts.
Tom Marazzo, an ex-military officer who, according to his LinkedIn profile, served in the Canadian Forces for 25 years and now works as a freelance software developer.

Corporal Daniel Bulford, a former RCMP sniper who was resigned after refusing to take the vaccine, has a new job: supporting security operations for volunteers in the adopt-a-trucker program.

Many will remember Bulford from an explosive interview with The Counter Signal last year, wherein he spoke out against the vaccine mandate, characterizing the government's decision to impose such a mandate as "authoritarian type behaviour."

Bulford, a staunch defender of Canadians' freedom and spokesman for Mounties 4 Freedom, resigned over his refusal to comply with the mandate.

Yes, after more than a decade of serving his country, he was let go over a highly personal medical decision.

He later spoke with Rebel News, explaining his rationale for sticking to his guns and not complying.

"I definitely fall into a category that would be considered low-risk - almost 40, just a little bit shy of that mark, very healthy, very active, I don't have any underlying comorbidities - and I've made it a part of my lifestyle, ever since probably going as far back as high school, to take health and fitness seriously," Bulford explained.

Clearly, his passion for defending his fellow Canadians hasn't been diminished one iota, and he now has an equally important job safeguarding truckers who undoubtedly appreciate him more than Trudeau ever did.
