SAME AS LAB-GROWN
… Can't Spot Difference!!!
EXCLUSIVE
11/17/2023 2:05 PM PT
News flash … lab-grown diamonds are REAL diamonds and there's really no difference between man-made rocks and their natural counterparts … according to a famous jeweler.
Jean Dousset, a descendant of Cartier founder Louis Francois Cartier, joined us on "TMZ Live" Friday and schooled us on lab-grown diamonds … explaining why they are indeed a diamond in every sense of the way.
JD says even the most seasoned gemologists cannot tell the difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds … and they're both graded on the same scales under the same rules and principles.
It's pretty interesting to consider … seeing as there's controversy surrounding engagement rings these days. Based on what Jean's telling us here, it sounds like a man would be able to safely pass off a lab-grown diamond engagement ring as a natural one and the woman would never know.
Of course, Jean says most couples are shopping together for rings nowadays and he's not advocating for people to get engaged on a lie … but the window of opportunity is definitely there.
Jean's got his own jewelry store in West Hollywood and this year he started selling only lab-grown diamonds. He's previously designed engagement rings for Paris Hilton, Eva Longoria and Amy Adams and says couples can get more bang for their buck with lab-grown diamonds.
It's an educational conversation … and Jean points out the ethical concerns regarding natural diamonds and tells us why the fancy tech is putting the natural diamond industry on alert.

Luigi Luca Cavalli-Sforza, a giant in population genetics and professor emeritus, dies at 96
share

Cavalli-Sforza helped create the field of genetic geography and was one of the founders of cultural evolution, a theory that social change resembles a Darwinian evolutionary process.
September 10, 2018 - By Amy Adams, Hanae Armitage
Luigi Luca Cavalli-Sforza, MD, professor emeritus of genetics at the Stanford University School of Medicine, died Aug. 31 of natural causes in his home in Belluno, Italy. He was 96.
Cavalli-Sforza was among the first to use genetics to track human migration patterns. His blend of anthropology and genetics led to a new field he called genetic geography, in which he followed the spread of genetic variations to track how humans populated the world.
"Luca was one of the first scientists to use genetic information to understand the relationships between different human populations at the level of the DNA," said Marcus Feldman, PhD, professor of biology at Stanford. "He was always ahead of the game. Luca wasn't a follower; he was a pioneer in the true sense of the word. If other people were doing it, he didn't want to touch it."
A native of Italy
Born in Genoa, Italy, in 1922, Cavalli-Sforza earned his MD from the University of Pavia in 1944 and worked there as a physician for a year before becoming a genetics professor, teaching at Cambridge, Parma and Pavia. Although he began his genetics career studying microbiology, he quickly became interested in human genetics.
By the time Cavalli-Sforza arrived at Stanford in 1970, he had already begun developing new statistical tools for analyzing molecular differences between groups of people around the world. His earliest work involved looking at how the A, B and O blood types were represented in populations. From that, he devised the first of his many maps depicting human variation across the globe.

'Dallas Buyers Club' director Jean-Marc Vall?e found dead at 58
Director and producer Jean-Marc Vall?e, who won an Emmy for directing the hit HBO series "Big Little Lies" and whose 2013 drama "Dallas Buyers Club" earned multiple Oscar nominations, has died. He was 58.
His representative Bumble Ward said Sunday that Vall?e died suddenly in his cabin outside Quebec City, Canada, over the weekend.
Vall?e was acclaimed for his naturalistic approach to filmmaking, directing stars including Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal over the past decade.
He directed Emily Blunt in 2009?s "The Young Victoria" and became a sought-after name in Hollywood after "Dallas Buyers Club," featuring Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, earned six Academy Awards nominations, including best picture.
He often shot with natural light and hand-held cameras and gave actors freedom to improvise the script and move around within a scene's location. The crew roamed up and down the Pacific Coast Trail to shoot Witherspoon in 2014?s "Wild."
"They can move anywhere they want," the Canadian filmmaker said of his actors in a 2014 interview with The Associated Press. "It's giving the importance to storytelling, emotion, characters. I try not to interfere too much. I don't need to cut performances. Often, the cinematographer and I were like, 'This location sucks. It's not very nice. But, hey, that's life.'"

New Zealand Eases Abortion Restrictions
March 18, 2020
Lawmakers voted on Wednesday to liberalize New Zealand's abortion law and allow unrestricted access during the first half of pregnancy, ending the country's status as one of the few wealthy nations to limit the grounds for abortion during that period.
Members of Parliament also greatly loosened restrictions on abortions in the latter half of pregnancy, with language that opponents say amounts to no meaningful limitations until the moment of birth.
Lawmakers voted 68 to 51 to approve the bill, which would take effect a day after receiving assent from the governor-general, Queen Elizabeth II's representative in New Zealand, which is considered a formality.
New Zealand's existing law on abortion, adopted in 1977 and amended a few times, treats termination, even early in pregnancy, as a crime, though officials say that no one has ever been prosecuted for it. The new law would remove it from the criminal statutes, and provides no penalties for violation.
The existing law does allow for some exceptions - about 13,000 abortions a year are performed legally, the government said - as when a woman's physical or mental health is endangered. Critics claim that has made it common for women to feign mental illness to obtain abortions, and for doctors to play along.
But even then, the approval process has been difficult and slow.
"The current framework requires women seeking an abortion to maintain a fiction about their mental health," said New Zealand's justice minister, Andrew Little, a member of Parliament from the Labour Party. "They have to consult multiple practitioners, multiple health professionals. And what that has done in New Zealand is caused women, those who get an abortion, to get it much later in the pregnancy than is desirable."
Amy Adams, a former justice minister and National Party lawmaker, called the law "outdated and incredibly paternalistic," and spoke of women she knows who have had abortions.
"I have seen them face the delays, the difficulties, the struggles, the judgment, the abuse, frankly, and feel marginalized and criminalized because of our law," she said in Parliament on Wednesday.
The issue cut across some of the lines that usually divide the liberal Labour Party, which leads the governing coalition, and the conservative National Party, the main opposition. Public opinion surveys show that most New Zealanders favor liberalizing the law, but even some lawmakers in that camp said lawmakers went too far.
The new law will allow a woman to obtain an abortion on demand up to 20 weeks into a pregnancy. Beyond that point, abortion would be legal only "if the health practitioner reasonably believes that the abortion is clinically appropriate in the circumstances."
ImageJustice Minister Andrew Little speaking to lawmakers on Wednesday.

But the bill does not say what counts as appropriate. It states only that the practitioner must consult with at least one other colleague, and take into account "all relevant legal, professional and ethical standards," the woman's physical and mental health and "overall well-being," and the age of the fetus.
Agnes Loheni, a National Party member of Parliament who opposed the bill, said: "It will allow for abortion up to the moment of birth. It is a broad, ill-defined, vague section with no regard to the unborn child."
Simeon Brown, another National Party lawmaker, said the new law would allow abortion in cases when a fetus could survive outside the womb, or for sex selection. And he complained that the bill's supporters dismissed any objections as religiously based, and denigrated those that were.
"I'm opposed to this bill not because of the tenets of any religion but because of scientific, philosophical and ethical principles," he said.
Advocates of the bill argued that neither women nor their health care providers would pursue late-term abortions lightly.
The law does not prohibit abortion for the purpose of sex selection, but states that Parliament is opposed to the practice, and directs the government to study the issue and report back on it within five years.
The vote in Parliament came after a failed attempt to hold a national referendum on the issue. It culminated years of political battles over attempts to loosen the law.
Most countries in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East have abortion laws that are as restrictive as New Zealand's has been, or more so. But among the most highly developed countries, only Poland and South Korea do, according to groups that study the issue.
Ireland had the most complete ban in Europe until the law was changed in December 2018. Australia's most populous state, New South Wales, decriminalized abortion last September.

NEW ZEALAND - RESIGNATION.
An addition(s) to the resignation list.

The Honourable Ms Amy Adams was the Minister for Communications and Information Technology under former NZ PM Sir John Key. She was present at the 'unscheduled' meeting in Christchurch, New Zealand between the former US Sec of State Mr John Kerry and the former NZ PM's top bods (FVEY) the day after President Trump won.

Amy Adams, one of National's most senior MPs, announced on Tuesday she would be stepping down in 2020, just 45 minutes before National MP Alistair Scott announced his resignation.

'It was a surprise - not just for media, but also for her caucus colleagues when she told them this morning - as Adams had run for the party leadership in February last year following Bill English's resignation.'
In addition I'd previously suggested that the former NZ PM John Key be added to the resignations list but was informed that he was too early to qualify. I think that this is a mistake as he not only willingly did Husseins bidding as regards to NZ FVEY/NZGCSB/Southern Cross cable upgrades and security law changes but is a good golfing friend and accompanied him on his subsequent visits here.

Jacinda Ardern's 'wellbeing' budget spreads good vibes in New Zealand
Opposition finance spokeswoman Amy Adams described the approach as a gimmick, calling the budget "all spin and no substance".
"Apparently it's about measuring your sun and moon feelings, improving your locus of control, and understanding your ability to be yourself," she said.
"I have no idea what that means and, outside the Wellington bureaucracy, I'm not sure anyone does," Ardern argued the wellbeing approach provides real-world benefits, citing reducing child poverty and family violence as a practical example of how it works.
"When our children do better, we all do better," she said.

Ardern's 'wellbeing' budget spreads good vibes in New Zealand
New Zealand unveiled its inaugural "wellbeing" budget Thursday in a move set to cement Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's reputation for compassionate leadership in the wake of the Christchurch mosque massacre.
Ardern announced increased spending on mental health, indigenous welfare and child poverty in a budget she described as a world-first attempt to change the way economic progress is measured.
"We said that we would be a government that did things differently, and for this budget we have done just that," she said.
"Today we have laid the foundation for not just one wellbeing budget, but a different approach for government decision-making altogether."
While dismissed by critics as marketing spin, Ardern views the budget as a way to deliver the reformist agenda she campaigned on in the 2017 election.
The New Zealand leader, widely praised for her respectful handling of the March shooting in which 51 Muslim worshippers were gunned down, said the budget put people before economic indicators.
On the economic front, it predicts a surplus of NZ$3.5 billion in 2018-19, rising to NZ$6.1 billion by 2022-23.
It optimistically forecasts economic growth will average 2.7 percent over the same period, with inflation hovering around 2.0 percent and unemployment slightly over 4.0 percent.
Wellbeing factors, such as life expectancy, education levels, air quality and "a sense of belonging" were also factored into budget decisions.
The Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan first floated the idea of prioritising happiness over growth in the early 1970s and introduced a Gross National Happiness Index in 2008.
Many other nations have adopted similar concepts but the New Zealand attempt is being touted as the first time it has been at the core of a government's spending decisions.
Opposition finance spokeswoman Amy Adams described the approach as a gimmick, calling the budget "all spin and no substance".
- 'Breaking the cycle' -
"Apparently it's about measuring your sun and moon feelings, improving your locus of control, and understanding your ability to be yourself," she said.
"I have no idea what that means and, outside the Wellington bureaucracy, I'm not sure anyone does."
Ardern argued the wellbeing approach provides real-world benefits, citing reducing child poverty and family violence as a practical example of how it works.
"When our children do better, we all do better," she said.
"Breaking the cycle of violence saves us costs down the line, but more importantly it makes us a better country and makes children's lives richer and more fulfilling."
But her feelgood message was almost overshadowed by a bureaucratic bungle that resulted in parts of the budget being released prematurely.
The error resulted in police being called in amid fears the Treasury department, which is responsible for the budget, had fallen victim to a sophisticated cyberattack.
Initially, Treasury chief Gabriel Makhlouf rejected "absolutely" any suggestion the information had been accidentally posted online.
Makhlouf, who will leave his position next month to become governor of the Central Bank of Ireland, was forced into an embarrassing backdown Thursday after police found no evidence that illegal activity was behind the leak.
Instead, the information was released when Treasury prepared a "clone" website ahead of the budget release, not realising that entering specific search terms on it revealed embargoed information.
The opposition National Party, which released the leaked information earlier this week, called for Makhlouf's resignation, saying he had implied the party was behind an illegal hack.
"Clearly his position is not tenable," National leader Simon Bridges told reporters.
Finance Minister Grant Robertson, the minister responsible for the budget, expressed disappointment at Treasury's handling of the matter while Makhlouf did not attend the budget's unveiling at parliament, contrary to normal practice.

Steven Spielberg, Lady Gaga Sign Get-Well Card for Ruth Bader Ginsburg
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Steven Spielberg, Lady Gaga, Spike Lee and Glenn Close have a message for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Get well soon.
They and three dozen Hollywood A-listers, from Bradley Cooper to Quincy Jones, have signed a card that's being overnighted to Ginsburg on Thursday. The 85-year-old Ginsburg has missed a month of Supreme Court arguments as she recovers from the lung cancer surgery she had in December.
In the card, Lee refers to Ginsburg as the "Judge of Brooklyn." Regina King wrote that she is the true, "Super Diva" in reference to a shirt Ginsburg wears in the documentary "RBG." Laura Dern wrote, "You are our grand reminder to use voice + fight for truth."
Director Barry Jenkins even stopped to do a plank in honor of Ginsburg's famed workouts after signing.
Other signatories include Amy Adams, Ron Howard, Ted Danson, Helen Mirren, Stephen Colbert and Meredith Vieira.
The card was spearheaded by "RBG" filmmakers Julie Cohen and Betsy West, who toted it along with them to starry awards season events over the past few weeks including the Directors and Producers Guild Awards, the Oscar nominees luncheon, BAFTA and the Critics' Choice Awards.
"After Justice Ginsburg's surgery in December, pretty much every actor or filmmaker we met would ask us to pass on their personal good wishes to her," Cohen and West said in a statement. "We know RBG is a huge movie buff - from big Hollywood epics to small indie films - so we thought she'd get a kick out of a get well card from some of the biggest names in the film world."
"RBG" is up for best documentary at the Academy Awards on Feb. 24.

Jewish Team Owners in the National Football League (NFL)
Following US President Donald Trump's comments about the disrespect shown by the NFL's players - as well as some of team officials and even owners - to the American flag. I thought it would be educational to run the numbers concerning just how many NFL team owners - who ultimately have the power to stop such public displays of national disrespect if they so choose - are jewish.
The NFL's teams and their owners are as follows:
Arizona Cardinals: Bill Bidwill
Atlanta Falcons: Arthur Blank
Baltimore Ravens: Steve Bisciotti
Buffalo Bills: Terrence Pegula and Kim Pegula
Carolina Panthers: Jerry Richardson
Chicago Bears: Virginia Halas McCaskey
Cincinnati Bengals: Mike Brown
Cleveland Browns: Jimmy Haslam
Dallas Cowboys: Jerry Jones
Denver Broncos: Pat Bowlen
Detroit Lions: Martha Firestone Ford
Green Bay Packers: Green Bay Packers Board of Directors
Houston Texans: Bob McNair
Indianapolis Colts: Jim Irsay
Jacksonville Jaguars: Shahid Khan
Kansas City Chiefs: Clark Hunt
Los Angeles Chargers: Alex Spanos
Los Angeles Rams: Stan Kroenke
Miami Dolphins: Stephen Ross
Minnesota Vikings: Alan Landis, David Mandelbaum, Leonard Wilf, Mark Wilf and Zygmunt 'Zygi' Wilf
New England Patriots: Robert Kraft
New Orleans Saints: Tom Benson
New York Giants: John Mara and Steve Tisch
New York Jets: Woody Johnson
Oakland Raiders: Mark Davis
Philadelphia Eagles: Jeffrey Lurie
Pittsburgh Steelers: the Rooney Family
San Francisco 49ers: John Edward 'Jed' York
Seattle Seahawks: Paul Allen
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Malcolm Glazer
Tennessee Titans: Amy Adams Strunk, Kenneth Adams Jr., Thomas Smith and Susie Adams Smith
Washington Redskins: Daniel Snyder
Of these 40 individual owners the following 13 are jews:
Arthur Blank (Atlanta Falcons) (1)
Jim Irsay (Indianapolis Colts) (2)
Stephen Ross (Miami Dolphins) (3)
David Mandelbaum (Minnesota Vikings) (4)
Leonard Wilf (Minnesota Vikings) (5)
Mark Wilf (Minnesota Vikings) (6)
Zygmunt 'Zygi' Wilf (Minnesota Vikings) (7)
Robert Kraft (New England Patriots) (8)
Steve Tisch (New York Giants) (9)
Mark Davis (Oakland Raiders) (10)
Jeffrey Lurie (Philadelphia Eagles) (11)
Malcolm Glazer (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) (12)
Daniel Snyder (Washington Redskins) (13)
So in other words 32.5 percent of NFL owners are jewish, which - given that jews represent but 3 percent of the US population - (14) is just shy of an 1100 percent overrepresentation. This is up from 10.5/11.5 percent in 2010. (15)
Compare that to Muslims - who are 1.1 percent of the US population - (16) and are represented by a single NFL owner (Shahid Khan of the Jacksonville Jaguars). (17) This is merely double their representation of the US population and even this may reasonably be discounted because of the fact that it is mere minimum of possible representation. Where-as jews overrepresentation cannot be disregarded as a statistical anomaly, but rather must be seen as a salient fact to be noted, especially considering jews have long been a highly political minority. 80 famous military brats
List of Famous Military Brats ranked by fame and popularity. A military brat is a nickname used to describe the children of parents who are serving in the military. These military kids frequently move around a lot within the United States and overseas. The term is considered a term of endearment amongst military members, but could be considered offensive if used in a derogatory way by civilians.
Who is the most famous military brat? Jessica Alba tops our list. The "Sin City" actress's father was active in the U.S. Air Force. Throughout her childhood, Alba lived in Biloxi, Mississippi, Del Rio, Texas and Claremont, California. Other famous actresses who are considered military brats include "Legally Blonde" star Reese Witherspoon, "Melrose Place" actress Heather Locklear and "Junebug" star Amy Adams

Martin Armstrong Exposes The Dick Cheney / Donald Rumsfeld Conspiracy
I went to go watch VICE - the story about how Dick Cheney took over the government with the aid of his wife - Lynne Cheney. Vice is a film that seeks to bring complicated information about the inner corruption in Washington and transform it into a digestible and entertaining format. There is no question that Christian Bale delivered a very impressive performance of how Dick Cheney really is - a secretive and distant man whose eyes were always filled with naked contempt. Amy Adams gave a fantastic performance as well and captured the real character of the former Second Lady Lynne Cheney who was very much like her husband - ambitious, and equally just as ruthless.

All the best for the (finally arriving) midterms from a Kiwi down-under.
I'd say good luck but I really don't think you need it - thanks Q+, Q & team et al!
As for New Zealand's current PM please remember that Ms Jacinda Ardern only achieved 37% of the vote!
Never forget though (I very much doubt you will and paybacks a bitch!) that NZ participated via FVEY in the attempted overthrow of President Donald Trump! Severe punishment is well and truly deserved!
I wouldn't be surprised if we also provided intel for some of the assassination attempts and no doubt are still actively passing along whatever intel we can acquire despite being officially kicked out of FVEY and Corona etc being down.
Some of the NZ Enemy Combatant names and Q, Q+ please seriously consider making space for them in GITMO! They deserve it!
Former NZ PM Sir John Key (National Party)
Former NZ PM Rt Hon Mr Bill English (National Party)
Hon Mr Chris Finlayson (National Party)
Hon Mr Murray McCully (National Party)
Hon Ms Amy Adams (National Party)
Current NZ PM Rt Hon Ms Jacinda Ardern (Labour Party AKA Progressive Socialist Party) *
Hon Mr Andrew Little (Labour Party)
Public servants
Mr Andrew Hampton NZ GCSB Director
Ms Rebecca Kitteridge NZ SIS Director
Oh, let's not forget Former NZ PM Ms Helen Clark (Labour) who's also the former UN Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme from 2009 to 2017 and Jacinda Arderns mentor. Crimes against humanity would fit quite nicely here!
Long may the anti progressive-socialist domino effect continue, country by country! The US was and remains the lynchpin!
Way to go Brazil!

MORE SONY HACK HOLLYWOOD
10 Revelations From WikiLeaks' Sony Hack Emails
1. RAND Corp Advised Sony on North Korea and "The Interview"
In June 2014, long before the Sony hack would rock the studio, a North Korean spokesman called "The Interview' a "wanton act of terror." The movie's star Seth Rogen responded to the comments with a tweet, prompting an email from Sony PR chief Charlie Sipkins, saying he "was told not to engage."
2. Red, White and Green: Amy Pascal's $66,000 Trip to D.C.
In October 2014, former co-chairman Pascal jetted to Washington, D.C., for the premiere of David Ayer's "Fury," starring Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf. The two day excursion totaled out $66,350 for car services, air travel and suite at the swanky St. Regis hotel.
3. Rooney Mara Asks Amy Pascal: Is 'Dragon Tattoo' Sequel Ever Coming?
Even Rooney Mara is tired of Sony's maybe, maybe-not stance on putting on sequels to their "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" adaptations. "Logic tells me they are not ever happening- as it's been almost 3 years since it came out," she acknowledges in an e-mail to Pascal in October 2014. "But I had still been holding out a little bit of hope."
4. Drew Goddard Vs. Daredevil Vs. Spider-Man
Before the May 24, 2014 announcement that show-runner Drew Goddard was dropping out of Netflix's "Daredevil," things got difficult and litigious for Marvel, Sony and Goddard's team. "It looks like they are giving us no choice but to litigate this matter," Marvel TV EVP Jeph Loeb wrote in an e-mail in April.
In a followup e-mail, Marvel's Ike Perlmutter forwards the Loeb e-mail to Pascal and adds even more panic: "Since we spoke on Wednesday, the problem we are having with Drew Goddard is getting even worse...We should both be very concerned about this situation."
5. Sony's Wish List of Replacements for Fired PR Chief Charlie Sipkins
After the studio's top communications exec exited the company in September, Sony went on the hunt for the next spokesman of their company. High on their wishlist: top executives from rival film companies, Disney's Paul Roeder (No. 1), Kori Bernards from Universal (No. 5) and WME's Christian Muirhead (No. 3).
6. David O. Russell Abuse and Lynton's Brother in Law
In a September 2014 email journalist and Lynton brother-in-law Jonathan Alter notes to Lynton that "American Hustle" director David O. Russell was abusive on set to the point that Christian Bale needed to intervene. "He grabbed one guy by the collar, cursed out people repeatedly in front of others and...abused Amy Adams," said Alter. "Just figured you might not always get the Intell (sic) you need if you were considering signign him for another film."
7. Scott Rudin on Angelina Jolie's 'Cleopatra' Preparation: 'Kill Me Please'
In December, leaks revealed producer Scott Rudin having harsh words about Angelina Jolie. New e-mails uncovered have reiterated his distaste for the actress-turned-director. "Kill me please. Immediately," he said in an e-mail to Pascal in June 2014 when he learned she was studying films of potential directors for a "Cleopatra" film in development.
8. Tom Rothman vs. Harvey Weinstein: Festival Smackdown
A May 2014 email shows Tristar Chairman Tom Rothman sizing up competitor Harvey Weinstein - in this case over buying the ill-fated "Grace of Monaco."
"As we battle Harvey and his volume/buy everything strategy, it is worth noting this example for what it really is-a straight re-neg," Rothman said. "The deal was 5, he will pay 3 [because] he himself tarnished the goods and he knows no one else will take it now. One of the many risks sellers take when they deal with him."
9. David Fincher Thinks Sony Has a Leak Problem
In an e-mail with the subject line "Well it ain't ME," the almost-"Jobs" director puts the blame of the many leaks on the negotiations for that film on the studio. "I had 15 meetings with Rosamund Pike and her DEAL CLOSED before Variety OR The Reporter ever ran a single blurb," he said. "This is a CONTINUAL PROBLEM WITH SONY."
10. Amy's In Love with "Aloha"
It's not all bad news in the data dump. Cameron Crowe's upcoming "Aloha" is under pressure to perform financially and connect with audiences the way his classics have. Pascal responded strongly to an initial screening, praising Bradley Cooper and demanding a "movie star" edit for Emma Stone.

NEW ZEALAND - RESIGNATION.
An addition(s) to the resignation list.
National Party MP Amy Adams' surprise resignation.
I know nothing of National MP Alistair Scott but the timing of his resignation is suspicious.

Amy Adams, one of National's most senior MPs, announced on Tuesday she would be stepping down in 2020, just 45 minutes before National MP Alistair Scott announced his resignation.
As Finance spokesperson, Adams is one of the most powerful women in the National Party. Last year she lost to Simon Bridges in the race to be the party's leader."'

John Keys near immediate resignation after President Trumps win was very telling as was the similarly rapid resignation of his sidekick McCully.

'''Julie Powell, the 'Julie & Julia' author known for recreating all of Julia Child's recipes, has died at 49'''
Julie Powell, the author known for recreating Julia Child's recipes, has died at 49.
Her husband told The New York Times that her cause of death was ==cardiac arrest==.
Powell's journey was made into a movie, starring Meryl Streep as Child and Amy Adams as Powell.
Julie Powell, the "Julie & Julia" author known for recreating all of Julia Child's recipes, has died at the age of 49.
Powell died from cardiac arrest on October 26, her husband, Eric Powell, confirmed to The New York Times. He told the outlet that she died at their home in Olivebridge, New York.
Powell rose to fame after starting her food blog, the Julie/Julia Project for Salon.com, which chronicled her journey making every one of Child's recipes in her "Mastering the Art of French Cooking: Volume I" cookbook.
She started the blog in 2002, and Salon reported that it garnered over 400,000 pageviews by the end of the year, according to The Times.
The blog was then made into a book - "Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously" - in 2005 by Little, Brown, and Company. Then in 2009, it was turned into a major motion picture - "Julie & Julia" - starring Meryl Streep as Child and Amy Adams as Powell.
The film drew attention to both Powell's and Child's works. Powell's book sold over 1 million copies, and the film made Child a New York Times best-seller, according to the outlet.
Powell made a niche for herself through her casual approach to writing about cooking, setting herself apart from other writers of the time.
The authenticity of the medium was in part what motivated Powell to write her blog, as she told the Orlando Sentinel in 2009. "We have a medium where we can type in the snarky comments we used to just say out loud to our friends," she said.
"She wrote about food in a really human voice that sounded like people I knew," fellow food writer Deb Perelman told The New York Times of Powell. "She communicated that you could write about food even without going to culinary school, without much experience, and in a real-life kitchen."

She also started a trend of food writers cooking their way through chefs' cookbooks, with other bloggers taking the same approach with household names like Ina Garten.
Despite the commercial success of "Julie & Julia," Child herself wasn't a fan of Powell.
Before her death in 2005, Child told LA Times reporter Russ Parsons that she didn't think Powell was "serious" when he shared excerpts from Powell's blog with her.
"I worked very hard on that book," the chef told Parsons. "I tested and retested those recipes for eight years so that everybody could cook them. And many, many people have. I don't understand how she could have problems with them. She just must not be much of a cook."
