GULF OF ADEN (Aug. 30, 2018) Sailors stack a cache of more than 1,000 AK-47 automatic rifles aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109). The ship's visit, board, search and seizure team seized the weapons from a skiff during a flag verification boarding as part of maritime security operations. Dunham is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points. The count follows an initial estimate of over 1,000 rifles. The skiff was determined to be stateless following a flag verification boarding, conducted in accordance with international law. The origin and intended destination of the skiff have not yet been determined.

The shale oil "miracle" was a stunt enabled by supernaturally low interest rates, i.e. Federal Reserve policy. Even The New York Times said so yesterday (The Next Financial Crisis Lurks Underground). For all that, the shale oil producers still couldn't make money at it. If interest rates go up, the industry will choke on the debt it has already accumulated and lose access to new loans. If the Fed reverses its current course - say, to rescue the stock and bond markets - then the shale oil industry has perhaps three more years before it collapses on a geological basis, maybe less. After that, we're out of tricks. It will affect everything.

It was said almost immediately after the conclusion of the funeral ceremonies on Saturday that, for a few hours anyway, we were back in a familiar country with familiar customs and manners and norms, a country with institutions built to last. That may well be true. I felt it, too. But in back of that is the realization that all of us, including the deceased, had taken those customs, manners, norms, and institutions terribly for granted. We thought they could withstand anything, even a renegade president* in the pocket of a distant authoritarian goon. We let the customs, manners, norms and institutions weaken through neglect and now we are in open conflict with an elected president and, make no mistake about it, John McCain's funeral was a council of war, and it was a council of war because that's what John McCain meant it to be.

He deliberately made known to people that the president* was not welcome at any of the services. He deliberately chose the previous two presidents to deliver the formal eulogies. He deliberately created that scene in the Capitol rotunda at which Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, and Mike Pence, an unholy trio of Trumpist quislings, had to choke down their own cowardice and say how much they loved him and his irascibility. He deliberately created a mirror in which, if they still have an ounce of self-awareness, they could see the rot that has set in on their souls. Even at the end, John McCain knew what he was doing and he was a fearsome opponent. He wanted a pageant of everything this administration* has trashed and put up for sale, and that's what he got Saturday-a morality play shot through with Shakespearian portent and foreshadowing, a pageant of democracy's vengeance….

Make no mistake. Those are not patriotic banalities any more. The current president* has made them dead serious again. They are no longer frothy paeans to the greatness of America. They are compass points on a battlefield. They are no longer heard with half an ear and then forgotten. They are fighting words now. The president* knew it. That's why he spent the morning rage-tweeting and the afternoon playing golf. In dying, and in carefully planning his funeral in the way he did, John McCain has opened a second front.

Prosecutors have asked judge Sarah Backus to reconsider an order granting bond to five adults arrested at the compound - citing "not only the death of three-year-old Abdul Ghani Wahhaj at the remote site, but also plans by the defendants to attack law enforcement and "specific targets such as teachers, schools, banks and other "corrupt" institutions."

The defense, meanwhile, has asked Backus to dismiss the charges.

Despite authorities finding a dead child's remains on the compound, and an alleged letter sent from one suspect to his brother inviting him to come to New Mexico and die as a martyr, Backus ruled that the state failed to meet the burden of showing the suspects were a danger to the community after several hours of testimony. She ordered the suspects - Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, 40, Lucas Morton, 40, Jany Leveille, 35, Hujrah Wahhaj, 37, and Subhannah Wahhaj, 35 - released on $20,000 signature bond, meaning they didn't have to pay.

According to WSB-TV, court documents show the suspects sought to target Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta, in addition to law enforcement and "specific targets such as teachers, schools, banks and other 'corrupt' institutions."

Prosecutors revealed the stunning information in a 13-page document filed in court on Friday. They are asking a judge to reconsider granting the five suspects bail, citing the planned attacks and the tragic death of 3-year-old Abdul-Ghani Wahha.

Police have criminally charged the boy's father, Siraj Wahha, and his partner, Jany Leveille, for his death.

To support their motion, prosecutors said they recovered a 10-page, handwritten document titled "Phases of a Terrorist Attack" from the remote New Mexico compound.

The document contains "instructions for 'The one-time terrorist,' instructions on the use of a 'choke point,' a location 'called the ideal attack site,' the 'ability to defend the safe haven,' the 'ability to escape-perimeter rings,' and 'sniper position detection procedure," the court filing said, according to CNN.

In a journal, Leveille "expressed her displeasure with Grady Hospital ... due to the treatment she and her mother received there," the court filings said. However, the document did not elaborate on what Leveille was referring to.

Additionally, the documents claim Leveille and other adults at the compound joked "about dying in Jihad," while children admitted to receiving "advanced" firearms training and instructions to target law enforcement personnel "when the time came".

New court documents revealed these and other details in the case against five adults who lived in squalor with 11 starving children in a ramshackle New Mexico compound.
In a case infused with allegations of abuse and terrorism, prosecutors this week asked a judge to reconsider an order granting bond to all five adults arrested at the compound.

As part of the request, prosecutors on Friday cited not only the death of three-year-old Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj at the remote site but also plans by the defendants to attack law enforcement and "specific targets such as teachers, schools, banks and other 'corrupt' institutions."
The dead boy's father, Siraj Wahhaj, 40, and his partner, Jany Leveille, 35, have been charged with abuse of a child resulting in death, a first-degree felony with a penalty of up to life in prison, according to court documents. They were also charged with conspiracy to commit child abuse, also a first-degree felony.
The couple and three other adults – Wahhaj's sisters, Hujrah Wahhaj and Subhannah Wahhaj; and Lucas Morten – were previously charged with 11 felony counts of child abuse.
'The one-time terrorist'

The 13-page motion filed Friday said items found at the compound included the "Phases of a Terrorist Attack" document.
The handwritten document contained "instructions for 'The one-time terrorist,' instructions on the use of a 'choke point,' a location 'called the ideal attack site,' the 'ability to defend the safe haven,' the 'ability to escape-perimeter rings,' and 'sniper position detection procedure,'" according to the court filing.

Michelle Manning Barish and Tanya Selvaratnam were named in The New Yorker story. \

One night, in the bedroom of his Upper West Side apartment, he backed Manning Barish up to the edge of his bed and "slapped me, open handed and with great force, across the face, landing the blow directly onto my ear ... . My ear was ringing. I lost my balance and fell backward onto the bed. I sprang up... he pushed me back down. He then used his body weight to hold me down, and he began to choke me. The choking was very hard.... I was being beaten by a man... I was crying and in shock."

Schneiderman accused her of scratching him. He told her, "You know, hitting an officer of the law is a felony."

Manning Barish says her ear bothered her for months. She kept hearing odd gurgling sounds. Once, blood trickled out, reaching her collarbone.

Manning Barish sought medical help and the doctor confirmed to the New Yorker that she removed "dried bloody crust" from Manning Barish's ear.

Manning Barish says Schneiderman would drink two bottles of wine then bring Scotch to the bedroom. He took prescription tranquilizers.

Sometimes in bed, he would be "shaking me and grabbing my face" demanding she repeat "I'm a little whore." He told her, "If you ever left me, I'd kill you." "'I am the law'" Manning Barish says Schneiderman told her.

In 2016, he took a female lawyer to a house. They started making out. He told the woman, "Yeah, you act a certain way and look a certain way, but I know that at heart you are a dirty little slut. You want to be my whore." He became sexually aggressive. He slapped her across the face so hard the blow left a red handprint. She screamed, and started to sob. She told him she wanted to leave.

"You'd really be surprised," he told her. "A lot of women like it. They don't always think they like it, but then they do, and they ask for more."

She demanded to be taken home. They got in his car. It became apparent how intoxicated he was. He drove, weaving along back roads. She was terrified he'd kill her and maybe another driver.

Tanya Selvaratnam met Schneiderman in 2016 and began dating. Schneiderman began physically abusing her in bed.

Selvaratnam says, "It wasn't consensual. This wasn't sexual playacting. This was abusive, demeaning, threatening behavior."

Schneiderman was "obsessed with having a threesome, and said it was my job to find a woman," she says. "He said he'd have nothing to look forward to if I didn't, and would hit me until I agreed.... Sometimes, he'd tell me to call him Master, and he'd slap me until I did." Selvaratnam, born in Sri Lanka, has dark skin. "He started calling me his 'brown slave' and demanding that I repeat that I was 'his property,'" she said.

Schneiderman slapped her across the face, back and forth, with open hand, spat at her and choked her. She often asked him to stop hurting her, and tried to push him away.

"He had said he would have to kill me if we broke up, on multiple occasions. He also told me he could have me followed and could tap my phone," she said.

Selvaratnam ended the relationship. She suffered from ringing in her ears, and vertigo. After the breakup, she sought medical help from an ear, nose, and throat specialist.

There were other victims. Another former girlfriend, he'd spit on and slap her hard across the ear and face. He choked and spat at her. Schneiderman pushed her to set up a threesome, and belittled her appearance, saying she had fat legs and needed Botox.

The former girlfriend wrote down an account of the abuse, locked the document in a safe-deposit box, and gave keys to two friends in case anything happened to her.

That control cannot be regained'' at this point. It's far too late to switch agendas, and they really had no Plan B anyway (they never thought she would lose).
So we will see the visible panic will only increase, and so will lashing out, but it will be minimized as much as possible.
