Chancellor Angela Merkel has circulated a letter to coalition partners outlining the deal. The letter also calls for the creation of large 'anchor centers' at Germany's borders to process asylum seekers.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has secured the consent of 14 European Union member states for the rapid return of migrants who first arrived in other countries, according to a document seen by German news outlets on Saturday.
The countries listed are Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, France, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden.
Austria, whose chancellor, Sebastian Kurz, is an immigration hardliner, is noticeably absent from the list.
The document also calls for large "anchor centers" to be set up at Germany's border to process migrants.

NATO Sabre Strike Exercise: Scaring Russia With Multiple War Games Of Unparalleled Scale
This year, NATO has already organized about 100 exercises, 20 percent more compared to the same period in 2017. Saber Strike-2018, a large-scale US-led exercise involving 18,000 soldiers from 19 NATO members and partner nations, kicked off on June 3 to last till June 15. The scope of the exercise has been steadily expanding with every year. It was 11,000 troops in 2017, 9,000 in 2016, 6,000 in 2015, 4,700 in 2014 and 2,000 in 2013 - that's how a relatively small drill turned into the regular deployment of substantial force in the proximity of Russia's borders. Moscow expressed its concern about it at the NATO-Russia Council's session held on May 31.
The annual multination training event organized every year since 2010 is being held across the training areas in Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Non-NATO countries taking part are Finland and Macedonia. Air assault landings are part of the scenario to hone the skills for launching offensive operations.
Sabre Strike is timed with Swift Response airborne drill in Latvia to culminate on June 8. It involves 800 paratroopers from US, Latvia, Lithuania, Israel and Poland.
There will be more exercises held in 2018 near Russia's borders, including Trident Juncture, a really big one to take place in late October-early November to involve 35,000 troops from 30 nations along with 70 ships and about 130 aircraft and Anakonda organized by Poland in November. The latter will involve 100,000 servicemen, 5,000 vehicles, 150 aircraft and 45 warships. The scale is mind-boggling. One can imagine how much it costs! The Anakonda scenario includes preemptive strikes. If it's not an open preparation for war than what is? US Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley believes it is. According to him, "Having large-scale NATO forces in the Baltic States and Poland, as well as the lack of transparency - we see serious preparation for a great war." He knows what is talking about.
In May, NATO held a large Siil (Hedgehog) exercise in Estonia and northern Latvia involving more than 15 thousand troops. The series of training events are conducted against the background of the proposal put forward by Poland to deploy US troops on its soil with Warsaw shouldering the financial burden of base construction. A NATO annual summit in July will consider the issues related to further reinforcement of forces in Europe, including the eastern flank.
It has been revealed recently that the alliance plans to create an addition to the NATO Response Force (NRF) increasing its strength from 20,000 to about 50,000 by creating a pool of 30,000 troops with organic aviation and ships ready to be operationally deployed within 30 days. The initiative belongs to the US with Germany to take the lead. The bloc's defense chiefs will discuss the issue at their upcoming meeting on June 8-9 before putting it on the agenda of NATO summit to be held on July 11-12. NATO war preparations against Russia include the new crisis response command center in Ulm, southern Germany, and another one in the US state of Virginia.
This force as well as other units will become part of training events and the soldiers will be deployed on temporary basis but holding regular exercises presupposes the creation of infrastructure to be used by troops upon arrival for launching offensive actions. Correspondingly, logistics are being beefed up.

Am looking at all the numbers in that Vanity Fair article, and Wynn shows all the signs of the classic "don't bother me with the facts" high roller. Carried gigantic debt loads that would make the rest of us walking ulcers.
Yeah, that Vanity Fair article kind of makes mincemeat out of Steve Wynn.
But that's nothing compared to how frequently the Daily Mail uses him for headline fodder. They love crash and burn stories.
I cannot believe the Republican National Committee picked Steve Wynn as its national finance chairman. Practically nobody would be less suitable for that job. Do I think he'd do almost anything to launder money or keep himself young looking? Absolutely.

Q Research General #1839: WHAT CAN FINALLY BE DONE Edition
The growing rift in the transatlantic alliance is set to blow wide open after US President Trump used a top-level meeting with NATO this week to blast Germany and other European members for being "disloyal".
Sounding like a Mafia don, Trump warned that such NATO members "will be dealt with".
Speaking in the Oval Office, along with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Trump resorted to his usual gripe about "unfair burden sharing" of military spending in the alliance. The US president has long rebuked other NATO members for not meeting the alliance's spending target of 2 per cent of GDP.
Turning to former Norwegian Prime Minister Stoltenberg, Trump said with menacing tone: "I think you will be able to handle the ones that aren't [spending enough], right?"
But Trump raised the rankle stakes even higher by insisting that NATO members which are lagging in their purported annual contribution are "not loyal".
Praising seven members of NATO that do reach the 2 per cent military spending target - he named Poland, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Greece and Britain - Trump said: "Some countries are loyal, some countries aren't."
In particular, the president turned his ire on Germany for what he claimed was a "long-standing shortfall" in financial contribution to NATO. But it was what Trump said next that gave his tirade against Berlin and other "low spending" NATO members a sinister edge.
"In addition to that, they're [Germany] buying massive amounts of gas from Russia. Paying billions and billions of dollars. Something we will discuss."
Think about that. NATO has been intensifying warnings of Russia as a security threat to Europe. It has recently upped the ante by implementing a policy of "Enhanced Forward Presence" whereby increased NATO deployments along Russia's western frontier are taking on a more offensive capability.
In this anti-Russia outlook, NATO is fully reflecting what the Trump administration has been articulating in several policy papers, labeling Russia, along with China, as a greater threat than terrorism.
In short, Russia is an enemy, despite Trump's contradictions over Russiagate and his oft-stated desire to "get along with Russia".

CHICAGO (AP) - A former Lithuanian judge and parliamentarian jailed in Chicago at her homeland's request says she fears death if she's extradited because she helped expose an alleged network of pedophiles.
Neringa Venckiene (VEHN'-key-ehn-nay) spoke to The Associated Press from a federal jail in Chicago in her first interview since becoming a fugitive. She fled to the U.S. from Lithuania in 2013 after receiving death threats.
Her allegations about a pedophile ring bitterly divided Lithuania. It also led to Lithuanian charges against her, including criminal slander.
Venckiene has for five years lived legally in the Chicago suburb of Crystal Lake with her teenage son. She worked as a nursing-home aide, then a florist.
She turned herself in on Feb. 13 after learning American authorities were seeking her arrest based on Lithuania's charges.

The vast majority of ethnic Estonians, Latvians, and Lithuanians live within the borders of their respective states. In all three countries virtually everyone among the titular nationalities speaks the native tongue as their first language, which is remarkable in light of the massive Russian immigration to the Baltic states during the second half of the 20th century. Initially, attempts to Russify the Baltic peoples were overt, but later they were moderated as Russian immigration soared and the sheer weight of the immigrant numbers simply served to promote this objective in less-blatant ways. Independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 allowed the Baltic states to place controls on immigration, and, in the decade following, the Russian presence in Baltic life diminished. At the beginning of the 21st century, the titular nationalities of Lithuania and Estonia accounted for about four-fifths and two-thirds of the countries' populations, respectively, while ethnic Latvians made up just less than three-fifths of their nation's population. Around this time, Poles eclipsed Russians as the largest minority in Lithuania. Urban dwellers constitute more than two-thirds of the region's population, with the largest cities being Vilnius and Kaunas in southeastern Lithuania, the Latvian capital of Riga, and Tallinn on the northwestern coast of Estonia. Life expectancy in the Baltic states is comparatively low by European standards, as are the rates of natural increase, which were negative in all three countries at the beginning of the 21st century, owing in part to an aging population. Overall population fell in each of the Baltic states in the years following independence, primarily because of the return emigration of Russians to Russia, as well as other out-migration to western Europe and North America. In some cases, Russians took on the nationalities of their adopted Baltic countries and were thus counted among the ethnic majorities.
After the breakup of the Soviet Union, the Baltic states struggled to make a transition to a market economy from the system of Soviet national planning that had been in place since the end of World War II. A highly productive region for the former U.S.S.R., the Baltic states catered to economies of scale in output and regional specialization in industry-for example, manufacturing electric motors, machine tools, and radio receivers. Latvia, for example, was a leading producer of Soviet radio receivers. Throughout the 1990s privatization accelerated, national currencies were reintroduced, and non-Russian foreign investment increased.
Agriculture remains important to the Baltic economy, with potatoes, cereal grains, and fodder crops produced and dairy cattle and pigs raised. Timbering and fisheries enjoy modest success. The Baltic region is not rich in natural resources. Though Estonia is an important producer of oil shale, a large share of mineral and energy resources is imported. Low energy supplies, inflationary prices, and an economic collapse in Russia contributed to an energy crisis in the Baltics in the 1990s. Industry in the Baltic states is prominent, especially the production of food and beverages, textiles, wood products, and electronics and the traditional stalwarts of machine building and metal fabricating. The three states have the highest productivity of the former constituent republics of the Soviet Union.
Shortly after attaining independence, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania abandoned the Russian ruble in favour of new domestic currencies (the kroon, lats, and litas, respectively), which, as they strengthened, greatly improved foreign trade. The main trading partners outside the region are Russia, Germany, Finland, and Sweden. The financial stability of the Baltic nations was an important prerequisite to their entering the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in 2004. Each of the Baltic states was preparing to adopt the euro as its common currency by the end of the decade.
