getty or the photographer probably have or had the raw image but unless they have uploaded it where it can be accessed, we can't get it. Unless they are willing to release it. Only other possibility would be if someone with a cell phone just happened to get a similar shot of Beatty's screen and uploaded it somewhere.

Clearly, media all around the world purchased it from Gannett or Tegna and received the doctored version. But has anyone bought the full raw version directly from getty?

Even if it is no different, it would be useful to know if getty sells photos as they are or if they modify them. getty holds the photo history of the world right now. If they are changing history, I want to know.

But Q did say that the raw source video is what we need. One anon has tracked this to a couple of DC sources, one the Library of Congress, and will follow up by phone in the morning.

And remember, the Whitehouse already has it for the charges that will be laid. Eventually that will come to trial and we will all see the originals

Seems no one has pondered FTP. Photogs for getty can and often do upload direct to getty via FTP. RAW or at least unretouched photos will reside there.

It looks like the part that is censored in the getty pic might have been a note she made within the body of the email directly for the recipient. Who was she preparing her statement with/for? Was she asking for final approval before sending it?

Looked a lot last night. From what I can tell, no video footage will have a capture that is useful.

So it must be a photo. The photographer is really well known in DC and has taken lots of major political photos. He wasn't just some random person with a cell phone.

That being said, if Q asked us to find it, to me that implies that it is out there somewhere and possible to be found.

Now, the photographer who took the photo for getty has already photoshopped his images. He obviously wanted a scoop and wanted to release the image (it's gone viral) but without the words on the screen. So he cleaned it up before getty released it.

So, short of him/getty voluntarily releasing the raw file, how can we find the raw image? Well I suppose someone who knows how could find his files and obtain the originals. Short of that, perhaps someone else with a cell phone also took a photo of this cell phone screen and it is online waiting to be found. I searched through FB, Instagram, Twitter last night but didn't find it.

Been saying this since last night. This place is like a slinky and and inchworm hybrid because there are just so many people coming in and out without reading where they left off from. they always just want to be in the KNOW in the NOW, NOW. Watching and listeniing to CTBS Stream and watching thier disc is the same way, but with 2000 or more people. Same stuff over and over and little to no progress, then Bam, then repeating BAM for two days.

Anons,

Finding the raw photo is good. Legalanons can advise on how one might compel getty to release it. Also, many media sources that published the photo may have received a .RAW TIFF file. If we can get a hold of one of those it would be interesting.

However we might only be able to prove that getty doctors their photos. The .RAW file should be easier to analyze because there is no JPEG artefacts, but at the end of the day, there may only be a doctored photo.

This is why the video is key. Even if there is only one original in the hands of the FBI, using FOIA to get it puts more eyes on the analysis. A video is harder to doctor.

And, if the person really was writing a message, then even if the message has been replaced, the video will show their finger taps which lets us recover the message. Just like those old 30s movies where the detective unrolls a typewriter ribbon and reconstructs what was recently typed. It's called forensic investigation, CSI, etc… You can do it too.

Need some advice from legal anons. Know a lawyer? Get them to join in this conversation. They can even use your computer to write their messages if they are afraid of the watchers.

I see people running around in circles on this phone photo thing, and I can offer some *badly* needed context. Some facts need to be introduced to minimize the noise:

1. Chip is a staff getty shooter, and his images are wholly owned by getty. He has very little leeway to release them on his own. Though surprising to many, he might not even have them archived off the getty system. He's been a staff shooter for them for years.

2. "Roll" is vernacular used by shooters to generically describe blocks of photos. Its a carry-over from the days of film. It can describe the products of one of several cameras (or more appropriately their cards), or discrete blocks of similar content in the context of an entire shoot. It is frequently co-opted by non-Photofags to generically imply the latter.

3. Chip was likely shooting at least two bodies, one on a remote, and one hand-held with a telephoto, from that position. He was probably triggering the remote while scanning with the telephoto for opportunity. I'd suspect he probably shot several shots of the women with the phones over a period of time.

4. Its likely getty was using either a runner for cards, or had their shooters tethered digitally to get raw images back to editors during the speech. These editors were likely making selections for the wire, retouching, and posting.

5. If they were using the method above, once the editors got the card in hand, they likely ingested the complete contents of the card, and reformatted it, before it came back to the shooter. This would mean the RAWs (if they exist, see next comment) would be on the getty server, and potentially not even in the shooters hands.

6. For breaking news like this, its entirely possible the workflow for getty is to shoot JPEGs. These buffer faster than RAWs, and if something happens, require less processing time to get onto the wire. While a RAW is desirable in all conditions, Anons might actually be looking for the big unedited JPEG straight from the body, currently described as RAW. Either is possible.

7. Holders of a congressional press hard pass have very strict limitations on allowing private information into their imagery set by the Press Office. It is not uncommon to select images for the wire based on this constraint, or in some cases I've seen, throw a gaussian blur over personal or questionable content. getty (and by inference, Chip) would be very careful about meeting this constraint and would probably default to caution, unless there was a news value assigned to the content or the image. This might not necessarily be nefarious at first blush, more a function of just keeping private personal texts out of the public record out of an abundance of discretion.

8. The best way to likely get this image, is to pressure getty to release the content due to its newsworthy nature. Harrassing or shaming Chip is not likely to produce a result. In fact, Chip is probably one of the most ethical shooters in DC, beloved by anyone who knows him and seen as a idealized example of the Fourth Estate. The DC press corps will gather around him in defense, inside of a hot second, if it looked like he was being unfairly maligned.

9. Finally, getty is a major player in photo and is the agency of note for virtually every news and editorial publication or channel. If there was a strong case made for the important news value of an image, and that value served the public good, it is not inconcivable this image would be released. If nothing else, something on this level is important enough to make history. A strong case can be made to bring this into the public selects from that evening.

It sounds to me like he's using the word capture to mean a photo. We need the .CR2 file which in essence is a digital negative ie:film or raw video.

The camera used in the getty image is a 1D X Mark II and 1D X Mark II also supports sharing imagery over Wi-Fi, as well as wireless remote camera control, via the optional WFT-E8A Wireless File Transmitter. Additionally, a built-in GPS module permits in-camera geotagging of photos and videos, and also allows for auto time syncing with the Universal Time Code for more efficient file sharing and organization.

In other words this camera can instantly send the files or video (This camera shoots DCI 4K Video at 60 fps, 8.8MP Still Grab) in real time as shot.

I also noticed a FTP address on the Exif from getty. Maybe one of you who are good with that kind of stuff can see if it's public. It's possible the files were wirelessly transmitted directly there.

Although she has a mostly clean record, Joyce Beatty is the perfect hidden blackhat for the cabal. "Standing" is a legal term–it means that you have some legal interest in the matter. For instance, if someone is suing you but they really haven't proven that they have a right to do so (through a signed contract, for instance), you can attack their "standing," and the case can get thrown out.

It happens a lot with robo-lawsuits: corporations will sue people that don't respond, and therefore cannot attack the standing of the suing entity even though it is poorly (or not) established. They lose automatically.

Hey I'm an Art Director for an ad agency. getty photos aren't usually just "buy" and "download" they usually require a specific usage and are priced accordingly. Most of the time you have to go through <your> company and they open an account and invoice.

Looking for photographers I always hunt down their website and if they don't have one, look for the agent representing them. A guy shooting photos for the Washington Post or WSj probably is major league so you should be able to track him down and find his portfolio.

As for RAW photos it's a Canon extension used to import photos from the SD card to Photoshop. Then the RAW file is saved to a folder on the computer or deleted.

In our biz film=photos vid=video pretty much no gray area there.

My thoughts on this photo exercise:

Q wanted us to get imagery (still or video unclear) and archive it offline before scrubbed (maybe.) We did.

The point I see is that there are two photos that are from *almost* the same vantage point, but not quite and taken very close together. The images on that phone are different - one has been changed.

There are VERY few people in the world who could fake a RAW image. Maybe NSA can, but I doubt they can do this at the drop of a hat (would be a major effort for very little gain.) I do not believe this is what happened.

I believe whoever paid getty for that image to be circulated to just about every major media outlet in the world photoshopped the image. In the US, that would be a violation of FCC rules for transmitting 'news' and could result in the loss of broadcasting license, for example. At the very least, it was something that the Gods of News didn't want the world to see. (Limited hang-out - it is OK to go ahead and show the Dems looking foolish, but not treasonous.) I think that's the story here. News distributors shopped the image to remove evidence of sedition perhaps.

President Trump said Wednesday that Republican lawmakers are "doing pretty good" after a train carrying them to their annual retreat collided with a truck in rural Virginia.

The president said authorities are still investigating the collision, saying there is "no understanding as to what happened."

As Republicans in his home state of Arizona were censuring him for supporting far-left policies like amnesty, John McCain was in Switzerland, reminding them why they were right to do so.

McCain met for a long and friendly conversation with none other than George Soros, the primary funder of the most far-left outfits pushing illegal alien amnesty, ObamaCare, Common Core indoctrination, and suppression of gun rights in America.

McCain's support for amnesty for tens for millions of illegal aliens was a key motivator for Arizona Republicans to censure him in an unprecedented rebuke. Soros is a principal funder of the Center for American Progress and National Council of La Raza ("The Race") - the largest non-profits on the left pushing for amnesty.

Soros was also the first and largest single contributor to Barack Obama's campaign in 2007, driving tens of millions into his coffers in an effort to defeat then-"shoo-in" Hillary Clinton, who Soros deemed not "radical enough". Soros has been called "The Man Who Made Obama".

McCain and Soros also have a disturbing past relationship:

In 2001, McCain founded the Alexandria, Va.-based Reform Institute as a vehicle to receive funding from George Soros' Open Society Institute and Teresa Heinz Kerry's Tides Foundation and several other prominent non-profit organizations.

McCain used the institute to promote his political agenda and provide compensation to key campaign operatives between elections - until he was forced to sever ties with the Reform Institute after controversial contributions came to light.

This week, they looked like their old friendship was as warm as ever.
